No not really, but you tried to paint me as being someone who doesn't like gay people (as far as I could understand it) and I wanted to correct that. If I can be gay whilst also hating gay people, I think I did a pretty good job so far.

lol, my reply was my very first comment to you, should pay attention to names.

  • cool, so is that fact your opener at social parties orrrrrr

Look sexuality is a weird thing, we dont come out automatically knowing what our orientation is, hell some people don't figure out what their gender is till much later in their life let alone their orientation. This also applies to writing characters. characters change and develop beyond their original origin. that's just how writing works.

When the people you're trying to protect tell you they don't need your protection, it's a little insulting to act like they're wrong and you know best. LGBT people aren't children.

EDIT: It's a video game, not real life. IRL LGBT people might actually need protection, as we see regularly the world over. In a video game, however, I think we can handle it.

  • As a killer main who also plays survivor, I have to disagree, I think the map is way more killers sided and I think it has to do with the shape of the school being a square. its hard to explain without drawing it but I'll try my best.

so. first things first how many god pallets are there compared to unsafe pallets. off of the top of my head there are at least three pallets in the school that the killer cannot mind game at. One at each stair well, and then one at one of the exit gates as the loop is long enough that its similar to the pig tree loop that can be found in the cornfield maps.

as for unsafe pallets, most of the pallets in this map are unsafe or downright dangerous to use because you loop is ruined once the pallets down. This is where my square argument comes in. the map is basically shaped like a hollow square. there is a square courtyard in the dead center of the map and then the school is built around it in a square shape as well. it has long hallways and then long rectangular rooms that loop into each other. this is where the unsafeness comes from. due to the size of the map the rooms can only be so big, most of them only have one tile to loop in each major room and the tile is a specially made tile that is closer to being a square than a rectangle like most loops are in other maps if you don't count jungle gyms. This means to make really strong loops you have to learn when to move into the next room as part of the loop or else you will lose early. The problem is though is that since its inside a building you are restricted on paths you can take to leave a tile. for example on the cornfield maps you basically have 360 degrees of movement you can use to leave a tile to get to the next one. on Midwhich you have 2 maybe 3 ways you can leave. some rooms are really dangerous as they only have one way in and out making looping those specific rooms a bad choice.

The only drawback the map has efffects both sides, getting from the first floor to the second floor. there are only 3 ways to get up to the second floor in the entire map, 2 stairwells, and then one room that has a busted floor making a ramp. However this means you can also make a nasty 4 gen if you leave all generators on the bottom floor for the survivors to get, then you essentially cut the map in half with only three ways for people to get to the part of the map they need to be in. Midwich isnt bad it just needs more planning than others. I would even argue its a more balanced version of Hawkins as Hawkins is a massive map that's really narrow making for impossible 3 gen situations.

I seriously don't know why people keep recommending people use this perk, it's so bad and useless. She benefits from aggression and snowballing as much as possible so anything to help in a chase or to get the jump on a survivor is good on her.

the perk literally forces people to choose whether or not they want to cleanse or have slower gen progression. The perk was tailor made for plague. It literally adds to your idea of snowballing and aggression. If people decide they want to cleanse then they add to your stronger power variant and you become much more deadly as a result, if they don't then you get more time to chase and everyone is one shotable. damn good perk on her.

How is suicide the lesser of two evils? That would just mean that for two weeks survivor would be nearly unplayable for anyone trying to do something other than farm cosmetics.

rushed writing by my hand since im at work. I meant they chose the lesser of two evils. will fix.

  • If im shoveled crap im going to complain.

now to the less extreme way of defending the complaints. Plain and simple I think a lot of people are disappointed with the event because it wasn't well thought out. It could have been done better and probably polished to a higher degree. I don't understand why they would design a event with such a vastly different requirement for both sides. One has to play, while the other has to "win". its poorly designed but its also guarding people from grabbing crown then going to get immediately suicide hooked by the killer and moving onto the next game, they chose the lesser of two evils if you will. I however would argue then that they shouldn't have designed the event that way, think of a different concept or change you concept to better fit.

The argument that people should be appreciative because these developers did this all from their homes during a pandemic doesn't fly. if something is bad, then it's bad. Doesn't matter what conditions it was made under. The professional thing to do would be to delay the event till it was ready, not to release it half baked like they did with this event. What's worse is that this seems to be the norm for BHVR as they also released pyramid head with the konami code easter egg inaccessible to console users when it should have been easy for a code that originated on consoles to work on consoles. Again poor design.

Edit1: Also apparently the cake offerings are bugged as they don't stack and also give the wrong percentage boost to bp. How does stuff like this happen? how does something that is so easy to test slip through? It's not hard to run a private test on their dev build server to make sure that the items work appropriately before launch. That's not hard to do.

Edit2: And now im starting to see pictures of some of the killers with the crowns and they suck, they clip into the character models. The crown on spirit and oni is almost completely hidden by their hair. Again #########, how does this happen, how does this get through without them doing something to fix it.

You don't have to "play" killer to earn it, you just have to grab the crown and AFK.

You have to "play" survivor to earn it.

yeah except going afk is a waste of my time as I then become beholden to the survivors to finish the map. makes no sense. just kill them, saves time.

I'll admit that the survivors requirement is a bit silly but its not because the killer requirement sucks, its because the event sucks and was poorly done. Why would they make an event that purposely makes one side play different while the other is basically doing the same thing they have always done and if they see a crown cool, cheers mate. Poor design. they should have made the event tied to doing certain in game objectives, like gens complete, safe hook rescues, escaping, doing bones, being chased. you could also do similar requirements for the killers to get their crown too.

I can now understand why devs seemed hesitant to do in game events like this because I don't think they took enough time/had enough time to properly introduce a new in game element. My advice for the future would be to make a separate game mode where the changes to the game play are made and make it specific to one map. Rainbow six sieges absolute best event they ever did (operator Olympics) was relegated to a single map and it was a blast. The reason why it was so good was because it was highly polished because they only needed to make the changes to one singular map.

first, no one is gonna know if the killer is camping or not. If survivors see the hooked one doesn't get saved, they will go try to save, and that's time wasted running towards the hook. Since no one knows if it's a camper or not, all 3 survivors WILL go check on the hook. By the time they realize it's a camper, its already too much time wasted. Camper usually gets rewarded for 2k-4k cuz survivors don't have enough info to know if its a camper. You don't get the full 2 min for all 3 survivors on gens, cuz there's walking time, finding gens time, checking on the hook time, realizing camper time. The camper is guaranteed with 2k unless it's a sweaty swf, and sadly those are unicorns, you are lucky if you can find one of those match in 100. And if there's still 2 gens left and only 2 survivors alive, they have no chance escaping, period. Results in 4k for camper, ultimate reward for no brain play.

Also for the fix he suggested, it can be simply improved upon. Think about how to prevent abuse instead of instantly shutting down a valid solution. The hook penalty can simply pause whenever the killer enters a chase or when another survivor is in the proximity of the hook. There, fixed, no abuse, but penalize camping at the same time.

    this post is big oof.

I don't think you read my whole post because you would know that I mentioned travel time and also mentioned that my math wasn't including it nor was it including positive bonuses as well like toolboxes or great skill checks. The post is also on the basis that no progress has been made on any gens. In reality the likelihood of a gen going off before a down is pretty high. If its a good chase than maybe 2 or 3 gens. You posit that the camper is guaranteed at the very least a 2k. This is simply not true. if the camper gets a down off of an unsafe hook and the person doesn't even get the person off , or gets them off with no armor like Borrowed time, that's called being bad at survivor and a really bad teammate at that. them going down is not a direct result of the camper but a direct result of their poor play. They had to make the decision to play poorly for them to be downed in the first place.

You make a lot of assumptions about how the game will go depending on the amount of survivors and the fact is you cant know for certain what will happen. It' is entirely possible to finish 2 gens with only 2 people alive, I know because I have done it and I'm not even that good of a survivor player, rank 6 is the highest I've ever been. I'll let you in on a little secret though, killers who camp are generally not that good because camping is a sign of either toxicity or they are not confident enough in there ability to get multiple downs before gens are done.

Your response is based off of stated assumptions on how people will play. Mine is simply based on math, its not exact math because of aforementioned things but it is still sound at its core. Your solution is still bad because it still gives survivors way too much time to do gens without worrying about their teammate dying. It's rewarding people for bad play when they could instead punish the camper by doing gens. Your stating that devs need to be able to in game punish those who camp, im stating that the game has already given you guys the tools to do so.

You're saying the issue comes down for non sfw teams at a lack of information. lets fix that. A true solution to this would be to instigate an internal timer that lets survivors know through a sound/visual notification if the killer has stayed by hook outside of a chase for lets say 10 seconds within 16 meters of the hook. You could even instigate a hidden regression mechanic on the timer so that if the killer leaves the decided radius that's declared as "camping" but keeps coming back the meter will only have gone down a bit and be much closer to the alert status than when the timer started and give the notification when full again. there, that solution forces survivors whether or not they are on comms to not be ignorant to what's going on in match for a very specific "problem".

Frankly I would rather have the devs focus on other things like actual bug fixes and server side hit detection. grabs of gens are still broken on both sides, sound is more messed up then it has ever been and makes wearing headphones as a killer a joke because the sound doesn't work most the time. Pallet vacuuming is still an issue and being hit well after vaulting something is still an issue. The new map has way too many god pallets and also too many pallets not worth looping because of how unsafe they are. Id frankly like my game to function as optimally as possible before they start working on specific gameplay balances. Hell as a killer main I would absolutely take having toolboxes be reverted to their former broken status if they could just fix the sound.

  • i wanna put the fix this door meme but don't know how :(

  • @quickreview said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1363853#Comment_1363853

Name a fix? Entity progression slows up to 90%, based on killer's proximity to the hooked survivor. There you go.

so this is broken tenfold. a survivor from the moment they get hooked has 2 minutes of being on the hook. in this two minutes if the killer decided to camp, or even worse face camp. Almost all five gens can be done. Lets assume these are the most average survivors to ever survive. they will never fail a skill check nor will they ever get a great skill check. All 3 survivors who are not on hook each get on a gen as soon as the 4th survivor is hooked. 80 seconds go by and 3 gens pop. one survivor goes off by himself to work on a gen and the other 2 meet up to work on a gen together. 40 seconds go by and the hooked survivor died, 7 more seconds go by and the 4th gen pops and only 33 seconds remain for the lone survivor to pop the 5th gen. thats a lot of power that the kiler is giving away by camping. The only thing survivors are doing when they try to unhook the camped survivor is wasting time and giving the killer control of the game. if you are on comms you just let the others know hes camping, work on gens. If your not on comms and you spend say 20 seconds trying to unhook the survivor or at least checking out the situation the best thing to do is abandon the survivor and pressure the killer by doing gens. the killer will most likley leave if he sees a bunch of gens pop off.

With all that in mind giving a slowdown of up to 90% is absolutely broken. lets say he gets a middle ground of only 45% for the whole 2 minutes. that means the survivors get and extra 54 seconds to work on gens and still go and save the survivor, that means that they are guaranteed to get all 5 gens done and have time to spare to save the other survivor with ease as the 2 survivors who finish gen 4 would go grab the survivor and the other survivor would finish gen 5. The math for this is of course if the survivors could magically teleport to the next gen one after the other and isnt taking into consideration travel time but even then one hooked survivor is at least garunteeing 3 gens done if the killer refuses to leave them. At the same time this is also ignoring great skillcheck bonuses and toolboxes, and the perk prove thyself. This again is also only based on a 45% slow down if you do it to the max of 90% the survivors get a whole whopping additional 108 seconds. This means at max survivors on hook can get a whole 228 seconds on hook making them be able to spend almost 4 minutes on hook. This simply holds the hands of the survivors in a situation they already have the advantage in. Camping on hook is a terrible strategy and is already punishable there is no need to make the punishment even more severe since its already a fail state strategy. if it happens to you, last as long as you can on hook and call it a game, move onto the next match. Just like killers arent garunteed a 4k you aren't guaranteed an escape.

  • @HamletEagle I don't think you even read my first post dude. I very plainly state that I knew the intent of the devs was to take it out, but I didn't know if it had been taken out yet cause its not listed in the patch notes as a bug fix or a change after ptb.

You said it was taken out, prove to me that what your saying is truth or else im going to have to wait for a more reinforced answer.

  • @HamletEagle As John Mulaney once said. "prove, prove!"

  • don't care if legion isn't "meta" ima kill survivors as franks fursona and nobody can stop me.

PS. I know they came from the silent hill games tis a joke.

  • Tru3 or Otz.

Both are insanely good killers and tru3 is prrobably one of the best players in the game as he can play any killer/survivor with any perks and do well. He gets treated fairly poorly by the overall community but I think thats just because people tend to not like strong personality people that can back up their claims.

Anyway I like them both because they are how I learned how to get as good as I am.

I am sick of posts like this one. I dont have anything against gay people, but come on, you dont need to go around and scream that you are gay. Keep your sexual orientation for yourself and just play the game. We don't need that kind of stuff in gaming. Sorry for your tough times but its life and youll just get stronger. Dbd has nothing to do with it so you might search for a help somewhere else. Peace.

@KRG so.... I told myself I was going to stay away from the thread after the amount of negativity. However after a night of thinking about it and hanging with my friends and relaxing I really feel like I need to defend myself on this. I'm bi, if you think that me simply mentioning my sexuality is screaming it than I feel sorry for you because that kind of annoyance must be so draining. Here's the thing though, this isn't your safe space, this isn't my safe space either. This is a forum board where I appropriately took the time to talk about a decision from the devs and what that meant for me as a person. Everyone here has a right to say what they feel but that also means others have a right to respond in kind, or in some peoples cases hatred. This also means that I did need to mention that this kind of decision is incredible different from the world I grew up in and that it brings me tears of joy that companies are finally starting to take a stand for basic human rights. You can be supportive without speaking, but vocal support is so much stronger than silent support. That's why I'm so happy that Behavior is taking a public stand.

You say don't play the victim and I'm not, I use to be a victim but I'm not anymore because I refuse to be. You're trying to take this post into a different direction that it was never meant to be in simply because of the subject matter that you don't approve of. I refuse to apologize for this, but I do feel empathy towards you and any grievance this may have caused because if I cant do that for you how could I ever expect you to do it for me. People simply talking about there sexuality isn't the same as screaming it, it also doesn't define me, being bi is a part of myself and a very intimate one at that but I am also so many things than just my sexuality. The thing is though is that this recent decision by the devs is centered around sexuality, so the focus is put onto it.

You say that it has no place in gaming but you're wrong. Videogames are devices to tell stories and ideas, they could be simple or they can be complex but ultimately they reflect ourselves and our world. The devs are writing and showing us the backstory of these characters that we play, this means we will learn about them and that includes their sexuality. This doesn't mean the devs will be writing erotic fiction for their characters the most likely outcome from this decision is that they wont be bothered or hold themselves back anymore by mentioning who people use to have relationships with like they recently have done for David, Nurse, Wraith, and Dwight. This is also the best outcome because the ultimate goal of representation is that it should just be normal. Writing a gay character is more offensive than not writing one, the best thing to do is to write a character who happens to be gay, it can be a part of them but shouldn't have to define them. This fits well with all the characters who have already been written simply because we know so little about them. Nobody is born knowing they are gay, or bi, or lesbian or whatever. They discover it as they grow into themselves as a person. this also means people don't introduce themselves as gay when they meet someone, that's discovered when they feel like it matters. If the devs decide to let us in on the sexuality of a character that's fine because they are deciding that it was finally the time to discus it.

This post was never suppose to be about me, it was always suppose to be about my happiness for the decision and to say thank you for the writing team at Behavior.

So there, that's my piece on the subject and to anyone who had issues with my post. I'm not sorry but I do feel empathy for you, I hope you all can grow as people an eventually be able to do the same.

Thanks for your time. Lots of love.

  • So this will be my final post for this thread because to be honest this turned into something that makes me genuinely uncomfortable. I didn't realize me expressing happiness for a decision and talking about how I'm happy that a company will include representation when for a majority my life media has been used to treat LGBTQ+ people as villains or mentally ill people along side the world doing the same in both nonviolent and violent ways would anger so many people. My bad, in the future I'll choose to not talk. Didn't mean to make anyone uncomfortable.

Um....Movies/TV series all have had alot of LGBTQ+ representation both main/minor character and where Video games shouldn't be a focus for such things.

Why? Video games are art and mediums to tell stories, sure some of them aren't story masterpieces or story focused but every videogame brings across an idea.

Trapper is gay, Dwight likes trains and David only loves himself. Integrating sexual orientations into a "horror" game is a bit awkward. I don't get it, but I don't have to, right?

Is it though? since most American horror icons have sex very heavily ingrained into their films. Friday the Thirteenth, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, ect ect. I mean there is a reason why the trope is that the virgin girl is the final survivor in horror films, literally an entire horror movie "Cabin In The Woods" was made to make fun of the trope.

Stop giving your life story. I can understand representation to a point, but if you're that over joyed over a video game character being gay when their sole purpose is to escape a trial, you probably need to find better role models.

What's more frustrating are people who hint at or outright say, 'If you don't have representation of X community, you don't support said community'. Which is basically what you said when Behavior's focus at the time was on creating a fun and competitive game for everyone to enjoy. Behavior's initial idea of leaving it open to interpretation was that it didn't matter what your sexuality was. You're still a human being and having a preference or skin color or gender doesn't make you any less of a human being. People can still support you without shouting it from the roof tops.

I'm not angry at you, good for you for being happy. It's this general idea that people get that personally just annoys me because it's almost ridiculous that people have to do this to feel some "normal".

    @Desh

little weird to tell me what I should be happy about. Also if you want to hear my whole life story I can start on my book and give you a copy, your obviously my biggest fan. As for saying behavior didn't support me or LGBTQ+ I never said that. Youre twisting my words. Im simply stating im happy that they are ready to be vocal about it and not only that but ready to write about sexual orientation.

Its also weird you mention role models. I never said they were going to be role models to me but its nice to be able to say "that person is like me." Also the concept of role models was originally boiled into fiction instead of reality. Superman is an American icon that is suppose to be a role model for what we as people should stand for. super heroes are our versions of greek gods and all that. Fictional characters are made and can be made to see as to what we should be and act like and what we shouldn't act like. fiction mirrors reality.

  • @CashelP14 I completely agree. Representation is only good if everyone is represented. if you exclude an orientation even if that orientation is the majority than you're no better than you were when you were silent on the subject.

    1. you could argue that there would be a better variation but in the specific example I gave that comes down to subjective opinion. Borrowed time/Buying time is literally a difference of who has to take the protection hit off of unsafe hook rescues. there is no difference of power just difference in how you have to play. Do you trust the person that your unhooking will notice they have borrowed time and take the hit? if not then maybe you should run Buying time instead to put the situation completely in your hands.
    2. as for the teachable perks situation I don't see as to why it would be an issue to make those flipable perks available to earn on either character that the perks get combined from. Or you know make them universal since that would hurt nobody. If your worried about taking the perk away from people then I would suggest that if you have both perks that you get the new flipable perk automatically.

As to other variations its hard to think of right now but the requirements for a perk to get turned into a flipable perk would have to be that the perks have to achieve the same effect or be closley related enough. You cant say combine dead hard and DS because they do very different things than one another, but something like leader and prove thyself might work well as a flipable perk. Also of course there will still be meta perks but by making these perks be available but at the cost of another perk you can make stronger perks without breaking the balance of the game. if you noticed Buying Time is way stronger than even the best pre nerf version of mettle of man. The idea was a way to try and think about how to make very strong perks without breaking the game. By making stronger perks but controlling what perk combinations can be made, stronger perks can be made and the player will have more of a variety in what they could do and still be strong.

  • This boils down to don't complain about something you payed money for. Take our crap and swallow. This ideology is so anti consumer I can feel Total Biscuit rolling in his grave.

You know what's worse than complaining about a videogame, complaining about people complaining about a videogame. People payed money for a product and for a lot of them continue to pay because they love and care about the product, if something they don't like becomes included then they have every right to voice their complaints.

That makes sense. The challenges don’t always lead to good gameplay. The first archive’s Spine Chill challenge was a nightmare. The recent one with Dwight hiding by the killer as well.

True was claiming these things long before the Archives. That’s why the posts above are stereotyping him.

@Steel_Eyed the stuff that's tearing me up is the kate stuff. forcing myself into chases with a unleveled character is hell. on the other hand though I have gone through the beginning of tomb 1 all the way to tomb 3 in less then 48 hours sooo progress. im doing it to store enough bp to insta level pyramid head to 50 when he comes out. already have 300K bp stored in unclaimed challenges.

whatever you say buddy, Idk what youre tryig to get at with the brownie points comment but i actually have sympathy for others in real life too, not just on the internet. I wouldnt want that to happen to me during a presentation so idk if you werent raised with compassion for others or what....

@OutcastEric If you didn't want it to happen to you during a presentation then you would fight to not go on before the thing that everyone wants to see and hear about. you would fight for your presentation to not have this looming monolith behind you that everyone will tear each other apart to see. Don't mistake understanding and realism for a lack of empathy and compassion. The ad hominem serves nobody.
