Strengthen your spirit. Don't tell me you have never failed in your life? Or that you succeed so often you don't know the taste of failure? Lose moar please and let that strengthen your spirit.
And you are taking this game way too seriously. This is not a competitive game and it's okay to lose.
-
It's a bug, this didn't used to be the case.
-
The game has enough lore to make a solid film out of it.
It's just a matter of artistic capability.
-
Killers can be just as toxic, but survivors tend to be worse because
a. There's more of them
b. Survivors can't hit the killer or fightback so their only outlet for frustration is often the lobby.
-
Thicker mist can be a huge problem on some maps for killers. If they are stacked they can really get in the way of someone's vision.
Ever since the 2.3 lighting changes the dark mist isn't as big a deal as it used to be.
Thick mist is good pretty much only for trap and stealth killers. Everybody else would rather have less mist.

I was thinking it should highlight survivors when they are within a certain range to you. The highlight will be exactly like the highlight from stalking survivors or the highlight from taking invulnerability hits. This would be a good perk to catch survivors who are slightly out of position when they are hiding.
Why don't we paint all the survivors in neon pink paint while we're at it, I mean we can't have killers not finding survivors after all can we.

@Visionmaker stealth would get no nerfs. If someone tries to stealth bun hiding right outside of the killers FoV then that’s not exactly stealth.
No, it totally nerfs stealth. Stealth isn't about hiding in a corner on the opposite side of hte map from the killer.
Stealth is about sneaking around right under the killer's nose. An increase in the killer's FOV makes that increasingly more difficult. That's why stealth players hate M&A.
I would only be okay with a killer FOV increase if they reduced the lighting on the maps again back to pre-2.3 levels.
-
1. Switch off Hag when you see two flashlights in lobby
2. Put Franklin's on
3. Hang around nearby and mind game them. When you see the trap blow up swoop in for the kill.
4. Learn to put traps in non-obvious places. Especially sides of the map and other main thoroughfares where survivors like to hide around and pass through which they never expect to be trapped.
-
Yeah I get what you mean. Gamers these days feel like a bunch of babies who can't take a loss.
Back in my day you took your loss like a man and moved on to the next game. I get that this game can be very frustrating, but if you don't like that play something else. There are lots of games which are a lot less frustrating online, or better yet stop playing multiplayer games if you can't take the hurt.

So it's not me survivors are gods or something.
That's what all killers with a big ego think. It's you.
You are just being outplayed.

When you get better at the game the corn becomes a minor nuisance and you will track survivors in the corn like a pro. It's all about game sense and a good eye for details.

Problem got worse if anything.

It's not like his invisibility helped him against anyone but rank 20 survivors.
His invisibility hard counters stealth at any rank.

Lol Freddy isnt fine. He has to wait 7 seconds just to hit someone.
And in return is impossible to stealth against and knows where you are all the time, and is the best killer for slowing down the game.
-
Could someone give me the lowdown on the Freddy Rework?
So far what I'm getting is he has 3 possible powers:
* Teleporting to any gen wtih 5 second delay, making it spurt blood
* Can setup fake pallets
* Trapper style slow traps?
And he is no longer invisible (thank god)
Overall looks like a huge nerf to me.
-
Here's a truth everybody ignores:
Doing gens to counter tunneling.... doesn't counter tunneling for the guy on the hook! And this is the real problem with this mentality that you can counter tunneling by doing gens.
You don't. The guy on the hook doesn't feel any better that all the gens are done and he's still dead on the hook and didn't get to play the entire time.
Get that through your heads, people of the fog.
-
Your prestige bloodwebs don't do diddly squat. Don't believe the bullshit in the tooltip. You prestige for the prestige, not for the items in your bloodweb.

If killer camps you go fix a gen and escape for free leaving him with 0 points.
Dumb survivors often 'muzt saev tommate' give away easy 4ks and tons of points. Survivors make camping viable, not killers.
This doesn't resolve the issue for the guy on the hook.

I admire your bravery for posting this discussion in the survivor section. But it will do no good I'm afraid.
This game has been survivor-sided since the beginning, and will probably stay that way for a while I'd imagine.
People in the community simply don't want to admit the game favors survivors (in most cases).
Factually you'd be wrong, because in most cases (Ranks 5-20) Killers have the upper hand. Suvivors only have the upperhand at the highest ranks, where so few people are that htey keep running into each other over and over. In lower ranks you'll be lucky to see the same guy twice in a month. That's how many more people are in the lower ranks where Killers are definitely enjoying the advantage.

Easiest thing to remember is if you see ANY totem, lit or not, break it. No one escapes death doesn't activate until the gens are done, so you wouldnt know it exists until then. Be proactive and remove any chance of it before it happens and everyone gets salty about NOED.
Actually this is wrong.
If you just want to stop NoEd, only cleanse dull totems.
Cleansing Lit Totems can be dangerous as they may be running Thrill of the Hunt or Haunted Grounds (or both). If you are okay with that though go and break lit totems. Often they will be running something nasty like Devour Hope or Huntress Lullaby or Ruin, so cleansing lit totems is often worth it.

I didn't realize that log was such a safe place. I should practice looping there sometime.

@gantes said:
You guys are aware that you can play stealthy AND be good at looping at the same time right?
Anyway, the last thing I want is for the game to be darker. I already nearly have an aneurysm playing because I need to turn the brightness up in certain maps, and I'd have to do that even more.
Actually you can't.
Stealth requires a big commitment, and I'm not talking perks. When you see a Killer do you buck or do you try to stay still? You have to make a choice, you cannot do both. If you don't commit to either loop or stealth, you will get caught.
If you try to stealth killer will get too close and you won't have the space you need to effectively loop. Survivors have to choose one master, you can't really do both. Sure you can be primarily a looper and choose to stealth when you can, but that's normal. The inverse is also true; if you stealth sometimes you will loop when the situation calls for it.
Looping means you go for the safe spots as soon as the killer gets near. Going stealth is different, you do not make a break for the safe spots instead you usually try to juke when the killer is close and you often need to do so in unsafe places. You do a lot of risky plays letting the killer pass right by you as you crouch by a door way or a window and the killer walks by, or crouching behind a pile of tires or a tree stump as the killer walks around. If he sees you you're screwed and it's too late to loop. So you need to choose what to do when the killer is near. You can't do both.

I am definitely a stealth based survivor.
That said, something needs to be done about Claudette. I know from first hand experience you don’t NEED camo to stealth - I have stealthed with Kate in her bbq shirt and Meg in her sherbet ice cream 90s gear. Every other survivor has at least one tell tale sign for the killer, except Claudette and in a game where time is money, this is a problem - made even worse in actual chases because they are so hard to see (let alone without corn.)
Feng Min has an outfit that has no tells. Use normal or P3 head, Green Sci Fit Shirt and Black pants. She is about as invisible as Claudette in most situations.
-
A lot. At least half my games.
-
Technically the only important thing to bring is Plunderer, then maybe Tarnished or Purple Coin.
I use the "Santa Claus Build"
- Plunderer
- Ace in the Hole
- Urban Evasion
- Bond
Use coins if you have to increase the number of chests. I don't usually but with this build I get to hatch escape maybe once every five games. On a good night I will hatch escape five times or so. I build for stealth so that I can stay alive long enough to use the key. You might also want to bring in a tool box or use Prove Thyself so you can finish gens faster. Stealth is surer though so you can last longer and stay alive if everyone else gets picked off.
I like Ace in the Hole so that if no keys came out at least I got nice items to gift to my teammates. This is actually called the "Santa Claus Build" -- Bond is for you to find teammates and drop gifts off to them. And once you have found the hatch helps you find teammates to get them to tag along with you to hatch escape. 3-man hatches are uncommon with this build and I managed to get the "Where did they Go?" Achievement once.

When you're literally staring at a Claudette and don't realize it because maps are so dark (from the killer's perspective; survivors have a super bright PoV by comparison, for whatever reason), it becomes a problem. So yes, let's be reasonable and understand that the character is an issue due to the lighting.
I'd like to point out that there are many times killers have stared at me as Feng Min on dark maps, and even on not-so-dark maps, and didn't see me.

I was playing a few solo games today as survivor. I ended up in a lobby with two fully dark cosmetic Blendettes. One of them burned a thick mist offering, the other burned a MacMillan estate offering. I'm guessing they were SWF. So they were practically invisible under these conditions.
The killer was a Legion. At one point I got downed and hooked. One of the Blendettes rescued me. The Legion came running back to my hook, tunneled me and downed me again. Same thing happened after I was rescued again.
A few minutes later I get a message from the Legion player apologizing to me for the tunneling as he had no intention of going back to the hook to tunnel, but to get my savior as they had make your choice on. But since he could not spot my saviors either time because they basically were camouflaged (even I don't know where they went as they just urban evasioned away after saving me), I was the only visible one in sight running for my life, well what else was he to do. Pretend he didn't see me? I appreciated the apology, and understood his plight.
At the same time I don't blame the Claudette players for not being spotted. But it sucks when that happens because the Claudettes just vanish and you are the only target in sight. Kind of makes me not want to be in lobbies with Blendettes when that kind of thing happens.
Of course playing killer its frustrating as hell to have a survivor just vanish like that. Only times that rarely works on me is when I'm doing spooky Myers and I spot their auras. Or with Clown, I'll just start throwing gas bottles around where I last saw them. Or Doc, just zap that madness.
That was actually on you, you should have also stealthily slinked away. Sometimes you have to choose the right way to escape. And believe me, you can stealth away even if you're not using Claudette. Especially on McMilan and with Purple Haze.
I'm not actually a Claudette main -- I'm a Feng Min main. I play most of my games as Feng Min and I do it with stealth. All the sneaks and jukes I do as Claudette, I can also do as Feng Min. Though you do sort of need Urban Evasion at the minimum.
If you weren't specced for stealth it's easier to get found.

I personally prefer the chase aspect of the game over the whole stealth part. I dont really have a problem with stealthy survivors unless it's like all 4 of them just hiding, literally not doing anything. Had a game like that recently, lasted waaaaay longer than it should've. I think the game is in an alright spot, the main thing I would personally want to see is something more interactive for survivors to do to help them escape the match. A second objective, so survivors don't just have to hold m1 and be bored and killers wont have to deal with super fast matches at high ranks.
And my proposed changes will give both a chase and stealth their place in the game.

I strongly disagree with making the game darker. It's going to make playing on console even more difficult because they can't change the graphic settings. Maps like The Game, Lerys or Macmillan are extremely dark and its way too easy for survivors (especially Claudettes) to vanish. PC players can just use low graphics to make grass and shadows disappear and they can increase the gamma of the game
Actually you can't make grass and shadows disappear on PC without editing the game files.

I'm for it. I don't hate Blendettes, I'd actually prefer a more stealthy, less loopy game. It would add to the horror atmosphere, if killer could down you faster, but finding you were more challenging. Plus, it feels so idiotic running around some object for ages, whereas I have the utmost respect for players who, not so much stealth through the whole game, but rather have the ability to lose me in a chase.
I have the feeling though, most players, especially experienced survivors would oppose such a course.
I agree with you, and I definitely feel most survivors would rather be strong at looping than juking or stealthing or losing killers in a chase. You clearly see a lot of opposition among survivors here when anyone suggests nerfs to looping. There is definitely an adrenaline rush to it, but there's also a different kind of rush to juking and losing a killer.
I just think that a slower, more methodical game makes for a better horror atmosphere rather than the kind of run and gun looping and chasing that describes the game today.
I believe the devs actually also feel this way; they've said that they want to make chases end faster. And I think that's how the game was originally envisioned. It's just that somewhere along the way they lost focus on that and ended up turning the game into what it is today.

Either get a stack, or be able to get another stack from hooking one of the same survivors again.
When someone DCs and you're Myers, the person who DCed has his remaining evil split between the remaining survivors.
A lot of the time people DC it's to "deny" the killer points. Reducing the effectiveness of DCing would lower DCs in the first place, as well as mitigate their impact.
I'm pretty sure most of the time people DC, it's because they're frustrated, not because they want to deny killers points.
It not about you, the killer, it's about the person who DC'd and his feelings.
-
This is an interesting question but I haven't seen it happen so far, and I get into tons of hatch key games (because I build for it). I'll post here if I ever see it happen.
-
Main who you like.
Stop choosing based on what is meta or what people think is meta. If you like Leatherface, main Leatherface and learn to be good with Leatherface.
I main Myers. Not because he's strong or anything and not because I'm good with him (I'm best with Nurse - Nurse is the only killer I can easily get 4Ks on). It's because I enjoy going Stealth Myers and grabbing survivors off gens.
-
LOL at DS is "not strong." I see most survivors still using DS, and all the killers here are still complaining about DS. Some of them are even still asking for DS nerfs, like adding conditions to its activation.
The point is, OP, you are the pot calling the kettle black, when you are complaining about one guy stacking his build to his advantage, when you are using nothing but meta perks and are in Camou Claudette armor to boot.
-
@GrootDude said:
@legion_main he also put a Haddonfield offering and BL.
I see a lot of Myers players putting on Mirror and Lery's.
Chill it's part of the game.
The OP is even using all the meta perks under the sun, he's not one to talk really. Don't begrudge people their playstyles. And sometimes they just want to bring out the big guns to get a win because they've been having bad games all day.
-
It will be a bad rework in the sense that you're not going to get someone who is good at chasing. Ergo all the people mad at loopers will not get a killer who can counter loopers.
It will be a good rework though because it will make Freddy far less polarizing -- he won't be a complete stomp against inexperienced players and he won't be a complete turd against great looping teams.
-
Like you said, ranks matter. If you can't hang with the best survivors in teams at the top, then you will go down to a rank where your skills are more appropriate.
The fact that groups need to be SWF to work at the top means that killers are too strong for solo survivors in general. So if a skilled killer goes down to the bottom ranks, it's overkill for normal solo survivors who don't have godly skills.
This looks about right.
There is definitely a balance issue but if people would stop deranking and let themselves play where they are supposed to it will get better. Also, devs need to fix the emblem/rank/matchmaking system.
Finally, I don't mind if SWF is taken out of the game, there's too much whining around it so I say good riddance let's get rid of it. I don't even use SWF except sparingly when the one friend in my friendlist actually also plays, which isn't that often.
That way we can finally balance the game properly.
-
It's intentional, they already adjusted it so the bubble only lasts 4 seconds. Devs have stated outright that the bubble is there to get in the way of your vision and make it harder to tell where the killer is going. In other words, learn to wait for a few seconds before you make your move.
-
Welcome baby survivor to The Fog!
-
- You hold the power. If you aren't holding the power, that just means you are up against a team that is better than you. Sure, a 4-man SWF probably will control the game regardless, but how many times exactly have you gone up against a 4-man SWF? You've only been playing for 3 weeks when you wrote this post, there is no way you expect me to believe that all your matches are 4-man SWF.
- All killers can catch survivors. You just need to be better than them. You are just fighting people who are better at the game than you.
- Flashlights are not a problem. They are pretty weak these days.
- No survivor can control what you do. You are in control of what you do. They can't force you to do anything. All decisions you make that lost you the game -- those are all your bad decisions.
In the end, you're a baby 2 month-old killer (as of this writing) and you think you already got the game figured out. But the truth is you need 10 times that before you even begin to understand how to really play this game. You are going up against players with hundreds or thousands of hours. They will be better than you just by sheer experience.

It is happening on all ranks.
I guess it is rare at 20-15 but newbies play there.
I play in green and while I get DCs here and there (much more than I did last year) it's nowhere near as bad as FireHazard is describing. I'm actually *gasp!* still having fun playing the game. It is totally playable. As per Steam I have played 60 hours this week.
Definitely not feeling the pain as FireHazard is.

I think Survivor field of view is fine.

I thought Autodidact gave you a flat speed bonus to your healing speed.
I thought Thrill of the Hunt alerted killers of your exact location when you tried to blow up a totem.
