  • I'm against this. It seems like an unnecessary killer nerf.

EGC hatch is supposed. To be stacked against survivors. It's fine.

  • Looks killer-Favored to me.

  • The only one crying here is you, because your "genius topics" don't get as much attention.

Sorry, had to point it out, please do some self-reflection and become a better person.

    I disagree with the idea of hiding names for a few simple reasons ;

    1. You can see who is in your game by checking the "view players" tab on steam and you will see their usernames ingame anyways.
    2. In my games it's not uncommon for me to see the same faces, some of which were really good players, really nice players or really toxic players. For each of these scenarios knowing the names are important for me as it helps allow me to set up a build based on what I know about their playstyle. For instance if I know the players in my match are nice, I'm not going to want to use anything stupid just like if I know the players are good, I might want to bring in decent addons or if I know the survivors in my game are going to run something stupid then I will too because of past experiences.

Infact for the same two reasons I listed above, I wouldn't entirely hate having survivors see the name of the killer in the lobby. For everything else in your post though I believe my original response on the first page covers that pretty well as any other change to hide items for instance would render already bad perks (Franklin's, Overwhelming Presence & Lightborn) totally useless.

Survivors have bad perks that are also totally useless like Calm Spirit. If you're not facing Clown or Doctor they are just a dead slot.

im simple and fair and only bad ping will make my leave as it is not fun for survivor or killer otherwise i got perks and i will use them to counter that which i see and guess what else to bring for that which i dont every match is a learning experience

  • The Emblem system is definitely dumb.

  • I've never even heard of losing progress, period.

  • You should stop killing, you obviously are bad at it, play to your strengths and play Survivor instead, you are a gifted survivor.

  • I actually wasn't even thinking of perks. Most of the time I'm just cleaning dull totems. I clean all dull totems every match unless I die first. There's usually only one hex totem and I don't always get to it first.

So the rational really is to make it a little harder to destroy the totems, because otherwise it would make Hex Perks useless. Ok got it.

Well yeah on Killer you can get 18k in game and still de-pip. But I'm pretty sure on Survivor all you have to do is show up to rank up. lol

Goes to show you don't play Survivor.

  • I think it's even possible to de-pip with a 4k, like if you did an absolute stomp and slugged everyone under a minute.

  • You can.

And you I suppose are the typical killer main who thinks he's experienced, but blames all his failures on the game rather his actual lack of skills.

  • Why do killers get to see Survivors in the lobby? Why need it???

  • The balance is fine. If you don't have any power as killer it means you're just not playing good enough.

If your killer can't keep up with experienced survivors, it just means you're terribly inexperienced.

  • I don't play in red ranks anymore but seems like an issue at your rank. If it keeps up like that you will derank automatically and get to play in matches where DCs aren't an issue.

While I have seen some DCs the game is far from unplayable for me here in green ranks. Oh if I could get back to yellow ranks but I'm not getting stomped enough.

@legion_main My God that is an epically bad team.

I can't wait for dedicated servers and hopefully they will put something in place to punish chronic DCs. I can understand the need to allow for DCs because sometimes things are beyond a players control like really bad lag, but DCing is getting out of hand. I don't know how anyone can rationalize DCing because you messed up. You'll never get better if you don't learn from your mistakes.

It is possible to escape a game when you get hooked/downed first.Getting hooked first is a good omen for me. I usually survive those games for some reason.

I've had worse... and I've contributed to worse!

Not in the sense of playing that inept, but going for some weird dumb stunts that made me think, "Well it sounded like fun at the time!"

  • @lasombra1979 said:

@Mister_Holdout I actually agree with you about it ruining the immersion. I also am not the best team player so most my friends now refuse to SWF with me because I end up sandbagging them(only half the time on purpose). Now the only time I run SWF is with my wife. That really isnt SWF though, its her finding ways to sandbag me before I sandbag her. I think most killers love when we load in their lobby, we do half the work for them.

You know, I have only ever gotten into the same lobby with a killer once. Every other time I always play someone new. Or maybe I just forget some names.

  • I get a lot of those where the last guy just runs off. It's happened enough times in the last few months.

The best chance to do it is still when a killer is deranking and you guys all get free play.

When I became a more talented survivor, I was able to stun the killer and flashlight save. Around the same time the plague came out the flashlight was nerfed and i haven't been able to save since.

Flashlight was nerfed before I even started playing, which was last year. It certainly wasn't nerfed during Plague.

Flashlights most powerful item in the game? LOL some people are drinking some really awesome Kool Aid.

Flashlights are only useful in very specific scenarios, and you have to be in just the right place to use them. Flashlight saves on killers carrying survivors is extremely hard to do, you can't just do it and it requires not just accuracy with the flashlight, but timing to know when to flick it on to get the beam to focus, and some game sense anticipating where the killer will be vulnerable to use it.

For saves it's very difficult. It's easiest to use them during chases - specifically when a killer vaults a window or when he tries to break a pallet. Any other time it's basically useless.

Its most common use actually is getting the attention of a survivor who for some reason can't see you.

  • Never thought I'd get it as I don't do 4-man SWF either, but got lucky I guess. I've gotten 3-mans many times but 4 man is so hard.

As someone who grew up playing halo and call of duty on the xbox 360 I will never understand how people let some rando on the internet saying mean things about them affect them so deeply. Its not even in voice, its just typed words, sticks and stones. Actual children who get verbal abuse 10x worse than typed chat on call of duty care less about toxic behavior than you do and don't let it stop them from doing what they want to do.

Iv'e always wondered why people here get so riled up over this.

They call the glorified squats survivors do here as teabagging. That's not even real teabagging. Real teabagging happens when you gun the guy down, then as his point of view is on the ground looking up with his dead eyes you squat over his corpse and rub your balls all over his face. The effect is much more impressive in a real teabagging and not in this joke that is cute squats we see in DBD.

And we had no problems with it back in the 90s.

  • Since you obviously play a lot of Survivor ("keeps me from playing the killer" ergo you play survivor instead) I'm curious, how do you feel about Killers doing all manner of "toxic" activity like

    • Slashing/pounding/chainsawing survivors on the hook
    • Throwing people into the corner of the basement
    • Standing over and stepping all over a downed survivor's body while lookig up and down
    • Using the usual crutch perks
    • etc.

I think this is a fair criticism. I think there needs to be some kind of "come back" mechanic for survivors if things are going south. For example, if a survivor DC's or is killed/sacrificed then the Entity fills all generators with gas so the remaining survivors can focus on just repairing generators. This might also act as a deterrent for killers camping/tunneling since it would increase gen repair speed.

The hatch is enough of a catchup mechanic for survivors. I'm fine with it even with the current state of EGC.

If new players need to learn how to sneak around the map, that's a good thing. We all had trouble escaping in our first few games. Learning to play better is part of the game.

  • @pemberley said:

This idea is absolutely ludicrous with the current state of items.

Killers can stop seeing items when items no longer have op add ons and are generally only useful to solos (aka no more toolbox stacking) and maybe have a 1 carry on item per survivor limit.

When survivors stop popping trap door required gens before the killer can get their bearings and make the rounds, maybe then we can talk.

This is why secondary objectives are required. The gas can idea that someone posted wasn't half bad. It removes the power from the toolboxes and gives survivors other, better and more exciting things to do rather than just toolbox away at the gens.

Also, if Toolboxes are such a problem, you should just pack Franklin's every match. If you really think items are so powerful, why take the chance? Use Franklin's every time.

Survivors are used to having to deal with meta perks that are always on. We have learned to adjust our behaviors in game so that we don't get caught by BBQ or Nurse's Calling. Even if the killer doesn't have these perks we always play as if they do. To do otherwise courts disaster.

Maybe killers can try always playing with Franklin's for a change to see how it feels to be forced to play certain ways by things you haveno control over.

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

You understand that survivors get to talk and coordinate before the match right?

The killer being able to see what's coming is there for this purpose.

Instead of taking away something that's there to balance the advantage the survivors have, maybe we should be talking about punishing the Disconnect, yes?

No. We should remove both, to be fair. No survivor chat, no killer prep. Fair is fair.

It's a major source of DC'ing/dodging and really should not be in the game. I would also remove the Offering Screen to be honest. Survivors do not need a heads up that there's a Mori coming to town.

  • @NeaJovovich said:

I'm bumping this cuz @Mochan brings up a good point.

Killers should not see the Survivors at the campfire... They should see beams of light like the marker on map items.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/65246/killer-lobby-prep-is-toxic

Very good point. Killers are single handedly ruining this game.

Not single-handedly, Survivors have a hand in it too, but the lobby serves nobody.

Killers should not be able to see survivors, and survivors should not have a chat (not that anybody actually uses it). Just plop everyone into the trial once everyone's confirmed the ping, and that's that.

  • @Acesthetiic said:

I disagree, killers need to be able to see items in order to prepare for the match.

That may have been true in 2016 as the design intent, but the balance has changed a lot now.

I don't see why this particular design dinosaur needs to stay, when it's clearly detrimental to the game.

  • Nurse's Calling is meta for a reason. It's a very powerful perk.

It's also one of the reasons why Survivors are now moving to the "no heal" meta. It will probably always be useful in the lower ranks but in the higher ranks survivors have taken to not healing any more.

This is a really dumb argument, but sure, I don't mind facing Wraith only to see him blinking. Personally it's no big deal to me, and I would like to be surprised to see such a thing.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/496896#Comment_496896

How is that even comparable? Killers all have different playstyles, while survivors are exactly the same gameplay wise. the only "difference" claudette has is that people abuse her cosmetics to make themselves much harder to see than other survivors. When paired with how badly audio keeps getting broken with each patch, its a pretty bad balance issue.

Whether or not nurse is properly balanced has nothing to do with accessibility or exploiting issues in the game. Hell, she's even had "dead zone" glitches that prevented her ability from working in specific areas.

You can keep telling yourself that and keep holding your double-standards to heart.

Then keep wondering why the DC problem is only getting worse. It's because of killer with attitudes like yours who think you're the only victims and you have the all the rights, like the right to play Nurse, but survivors don't have rights, and they shouldn't be allowed to play Claudette (there's tons of people here who even asked to delete her brown shirt from the game, and a very misguided few even asked to delete her altogether!)

  • Not really. A lot of people don't care about rank anymore. There have been killers who throw games just to derank. I haven't cared about rank for a long time, not since I got to red ranks. Been there, done that, don't need to stress myself over pips again.

    And like I said.

Keys give you game ending power.

But it's bad that Killers get a heads-up on it before the match, so they can put in their game ending powers. Out of the 40 or so matches I played last night with keys, at least half were against killers pulling out the stops and using their Ultra Rares to screw with me.

How is that a good thing?

Killers shouldn't be allowed to prep by having foreknowledge of survivors. Survivors get to be surprised by what the killer is packing in the game. We can't even tell what they're packing until they hit us with it. It's why everyone plays like BBQ and Chili is in every game. Killers don't even need to equip BBQ to benefit from it. Every survivors hides in lockers or runs close when someone goes down.

At least killers can see what items we have. Survivors don't know until they get hit. And in this game, with tunnelers and campers, one hit is all you need to end your night.

And people wonder why the DC problem is so bad?

I'm telling you one of the reasons why DCs are such an issue. It's up to you to see if it's worth letting the devs know and do something about it.

  • @Madjura said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/496441#Comment_496441

Good to know that it took only almost 3 years for it to become a high priority issue. Meanwhile you still get rewarded for disconnecting (lower rank = better due to faster matchmaking)

Well, the DCs have never been as bad as they are now.

  • @LCGaster said:

What if they simply DC because they lost a chase too quickly? The devs even said that they would like chases to be faster.

Disconnecting in the end ruins the game for your teammates, it is punishable in other games, it should be the same for this

They have a weird way of showing that's what they want.

If they want chases to be shorter, stop releasing perks that help survivors in chases, nerf looping to the ground, and then BUFF other means of Survivors staying alive like stealth.

    Then nerf killer detection.

You cannot expect chases to stay short if you don't nerf looping and don't provide other ways for survivors to survive, while giving killers all the tools to find survivors.

  • @HavelmomDaS1 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/496478#Comment_496478

Ikr? U guys all know exactly why Claudette is a reason to play different, this little bish is nearly invisible. Hell, u can lose her midchase cuz she blends in the environment so well while running that u lose her even we u actually look directly to her.

Play something else. Or use different cosmetics. For me Claudette "mains" (they probably don't like Claudette as a character but just want the advantage she has) With blending cosmetics are absolute noobs.

Oh yeah? For me Nurse is for absolute noobs. Can't M1 your way to victory, sheesh what noob.

  • @Shirtless_Myers said:

The only thing that should be removed from the lobby screen is seeing usernames from either side until the results screen at the end. Too often a killer or survivor will abuse this by trolling or downright making the game miserable for a single individual.

    I definitely agree with this.

  • @Bongbingbing said:

The only advantage a killer gets form seeing survivors in the Lobby is knowing what items they bring and I suppose you could say knowing which survivors they're facing but that's such a non-issue I wouldn't even count it.

If either of these are having a big impact on your game I'd really question that. Killers are going to see this anyway once they see you in game.

I just tried it again right now.

I finished a match as Claudette using a Dull Key.

Bingo, on the first try, I get a Myers with Ebony Mori. It's like clockwork. How is this okay? it's not. I escaped anyway, even if three of my teammates all died, but I'm saying it's stupid that killers get to punish survivors in this manner when they want to try using their shiny items.

Killers also dodge lobbies with flashlights, or dodge lobbies with P3 skins, etc.

It's not good for the game. As you said, "the only advantage a killer gets is 'a non issue'"

If it's such a tiny, unimportant advantage, then surely we can remove it from the game, right?

Killers shouldn't miss it at all, since by your own admission it's a non-issue advantage.

  • @Arroz said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/496783#Comment_496783

    I know.

From survivor perspective it would be like this:

You can see what you killer your going against, if your going against a doctor CALM SPIRIT, if your going against spirit IRON WILL, if your going against a wraith a FLASHLIGHT, and the list continue..

Killer mains would obviously hate this right? and this is unfair

Yeah, it's definitely not good. If this were the case Killers would have complained to high heaven.

But if Killers get to do it to survivors it's all good?

  • @ba_tetsuo said:

If you don't want killers to prep vs your claudette, don't play claudette.

    How do you like that?

  • I actually like the idea for such a killer, but one kind of add-ons would he have?

To be fair those numbers don't mean much. The game was free for the past four days so it not only got the numbers of a free weekend plus more, it was also advertised as free on a the featured page as part of Steam's spring cleaning sale. Before the sale the average playerbase went back into the minus percentages.

Same thing happened with the Free weekend, double bloodpoint and Ash DLC all happening together. Numbers went into the green and then slowly went back to red.

Well its still 36k after the free weekend, and I have seen quite a few Rank 20 Sruvivors in my games lately, so a lot of people did buy the game during the free weekend and we almost doubled our typical 20k playing population.

    Business is good it seems.

  • @ba_tetsuo said:

So what you're saying is that you want to trade one free escape (hatch) for a different free escape (open door).

If you're in EGC as the last survivor, your team screwed up. There is no asymetrical multiplayer game were a 1v1 should be realistically possible. If you can 1v1 the killer easily, why is it a 4v1 game?

I'd also like to underline this fact.

The game is a 4v1, but that doesn't mean that the game only works for survivors if all 4 play perfectly. It's significantly harder for all 4 players to work perfectly than for just 1 player to play perfectly.

I just want to bring this up so that killers at red ranks can lay off on the part where being outplayed by 4 survivors is a problem. It's not. If all 4 played their roles perfectly they deserve to get the upper hand over the killer.

At no time should a 1v1 in an asymmetrical game be an even match. It really should be harder for the survivors. And it is. And that is fine.

  • That sort of goes against the point of the EGC.

But I agree. We need a perk "Honorable Seppuku" - Hurt yourself.

Or make this baseline. I have long wanted a perk like this.

  • @lasombra1979 said:

@Mochan If they are allowed in the game, they are normal gameplay. Sorry.

I will say though, that is all overkill if they were running all that. I see a key, I bring out Franklin and will force you into an area where finding the key will be next to impossible and force you to drop it there. After that, back to normal gameplay. Honestly though, I start a lobby as a killer, hit ready, go get a drink and run back from the kitchen when I hear the match about to start.

@FireHazard You missed the last survivors gathering. Killers who breath are now toxic. As well as killers who walk, float, or run. Now, if you kinda skip as you move, that is not toxic, that is just adorable.

Same with Claudette Skins and Keys.

They are allowed in the game. They are normal gameplay.

Why should survivors be punished for using them? Killers save Moris and other strong add-ons to use when you bring these items or skins out.

I'm not against using or going up against any of these items. What I'm against is killers having all the power to choose when to use them to counter survivors using theirs.

Why do you think Survivors DC? Survivors DC because they are powerless. It's their only recourse when they feel they can't lash back in any other way. Stop giving killers more power where they don't need to have them, and we might see less DCs.

  • @Karl_Childers said:

I’ll bring up the elephant in the room. What would be done with regards to camping? The time spent by survivors going around to collect 2 gas cans for each gen is going to play right into anyone who decides to camps favor. That is a fact, as the survivors can no longer rush gens against them. Their punishment is significantly lessened. Let’s say killer gets a hook fairly quickly and camps. Unless it’s a full swf, at least one person is going to go to the hook, at least initially for a good chunk of time. That leaves 2 survivors collecting gas and then repairing. At BEST, 2 gens might get done (if there’s ruin it might even be 1). So now we are 3 survs/ 3 gens left and they still have to collect gas. Safe to say where this game is probably headed. This can not happen. Just saying they’ll lose emblem points for camping isn’t nearly enough.

Also, I’m interested to see the next set of stats released that include EGC. Given that the 1 v 1 is very killer sided I am curious to see how much all these 3 Ks now turned 4Ks due to hatch closing effect the survival rate stats. It’s very possible things could be around 50% even at high rank, in which case if you add something like this, something would need to be added to killer as well. I’m not opposed to an additional objective for survivor, as long as things are balanced and the camping is dealt with.

Any adjustments in the time it takes survivors do their objective, needs to have a similar adjustment in the time killers need to do theirs.

Hook times should be lengthened to compensate, making camping a much more costly endeavor. Not only that, there should be something else as well. Something like a killer need sto get some "seasoning" to put on the survivor so that the entity will accept their sacrifice. Sacrifice doesnt' happen even if timer runs out if survivor doesn't get "seasoned". Killer needs to get hte seasoning froms omewhere, like the shack.

Or one or the other... balance will need to be found, but it's not as simple as just adding extra survivor objectives. But the game definitely needs to evolve. They showed they were willing to do so with the EGC, it's time to shake it up even further and take the game in the direction it needs to go.

  • @Poweas said:

I can see this working. Although, there should be a way around this so it's not difficult for newer, less experienced players. This could be a part of the tutorial where they learn to do this.

@Peanits can you check this out.

I don't think it's that complicated. It's still very simple and easy to teach in the tutorial.

Also running around is arguably easier than sitting on a gen for long stretches of time.

I'm a legion main currently and was a freddy main since he released and playing him isn't as bad or frustrating as lestherface

Freddy gets a lot of flack but he's actually a strong killer. Just a little weak against loopers -- which is why he gets ragged on. He is very powerful against normal solo teams. He just suffers a little against coordinated teams and teams with a good looper.

  • I've come across several LF mains. You know because they have Prestige faces.

They are incredibly good at the game, but they apply pressure through nothing but pure game sense and being good hunting and chasing down survivors. They have mad props from me.

Most Leatherface players are easy to beat but the mains who are good at it are on a whole different level.

  • I actually just want to remove all music from the game. Especially Survivor wounded music.

Makes it hard to hear the killer and his terror radius.

At first I liked it because it added to the atmosphere, but after several hundred hours you kind of get jaded to it.

1 … 42 43 44 45 46 … 52
