So, by your logic, killer can dodge and survivor can't

So im forced to play against the same toxic killer

Giving both the ability to dodge is the incorrect solution.

The far better solution is to remove everyone's ability to dodge. Killer's can't see survivors or their names, survivor's can't see killer. All you see is the 5-line symbol and ping for each player. As easy as that.

The legit reasons for dodging don't need any other info. While all the illegitimate reasons for dodging come about through showing the player's names and their outfits/items.

And what stops killers to switch at the last second like survivors do with items ? Every killer could just first pick wraith and then switch to nurse with already made build and addons.

You want something but you don't think about it enough. System is made how it is now because it makes kind of sence. Survivor items without ultra rare addons don't have enough impact on the match unlike killer's addons and the choice of played killer.

And also there was a time when survivors could see through steam name of which killer they went against. Almost every survivors had on their steam profile several pages of killer names they dodge because they didn't like the way they played. Thankfully it got changed since the amount of dodging survivors was unreasonbly high.

There's an exception to that -- purple and red keys greatly change the flow of the match.

  • In no way has this been clearer for me that in the past night. For the last 10 hours or so I've been bringing nothing but Keys into the maps. I have a stockpile of 20 keys on one character with the purple addons and I used them all up just to test it out.

I have never run across more Ebony Moris and Pink addons in my entire life. Almost every other game was a Iridescent Hatchet Huntress, an Ebony Mori, or some other really nasty Killer build. Something that goes way beyond normal play (I normally don't bring anything to trials since I collect gear using Plunderer and Ace).

Killer prep to be honest is bad for the game and discourages survivors from bringing items into the game.

  • It's not just with Claudette.

For instance if you bring a key into the match good luck staying alive unless you stay fully immersed and abandon your team. This happens no matter which survivor I use.

The thing is, giving up your hand to the Killer is too big a disadvantage, and penalizes you for using items or playing in certain ways. It is just bad for the game and further encourages survivors to play just one way (looping) and never do anything different, and it encourages killers to be punitive by punishing survivors who dare to use items they were given or skins they bought for the game.

It's just like how survivors will DC when they see a black secret offering in the Offering screen. They know they're in for a Mori so they just DC.

  • So basically the fix is to waste your time and resources until it kicks in again?

It's unacceptable when you're say using a toolbox for instance to sabo a hook or fix a gen. You are wasting your item.

The bug needs to be properly fixed.

  • When you drop a survivor the wiggle meter goes up a substantial amount. Most likely they were close to wiggling free, even if they weren't wiggling at that point if you drop them they will get free.

That said, if you just picked them up, then dropped them, and they got free just a second later that's definitely a glitch.

As for tactical decision making, that's exactly it. It's a balancing feature that allows survivors to do their own tactical decisions in order to save teammates.

Rotten Fields is bland and boring and doesn't offer anything that other maps with corn fields don't already offer in better ways

Agreed, it should go in the trash

Lery's and Meat Plant are bland and boring and don't offer anything that other maps do. They should go into the trash.

    @Condorloco_26 said:

The thing with corn maps right now is, busted sounds on one hand, graphics downgrade to favor fps on the other hand. You can't see anything through corn after 2.6.

There's only so much you can do as a killer in rotten fields.

Sounds can be fixed, but graphic quality?

Rotten Fields has a 50% survival rate. That means it has a 50% kill rate.... that means killers can do plenty on the map.

And that is already the best Survivor map.

The solution is to add voice chat to the game

Nothing else can ever balance out the disparity between solo and SWF

Many solo players will not use voice chat even if it is in the game by default.

I certainly wouldn't. I am not interested in talking to random people on the net.

I play Overwatch a lot. it has built-in voice chat. Ask me how many times I have used Overwatch voice chat.

This is not a solution. Killers need to accept that in an online game, there will always be people better than you and who will play better than you. And that in an asymmetric game, there is no real thing as balance. Some people will play to their strengths better than you will, and sometimes that strength will directly counter yours.

Live with it, deal with it, move on and play your next game.

Killers like to act like they are such victims and how every game is a 4-man Squadette that is out to bully them. We all know this is not true, both from playing as Killer and from BHVR's own official stats.

  • Nurse at red ranks is like 4/5 of the games. As they breake all game mechanics and can't be looped.

Removing scratch marks? How is that a nurse nerf?

Sounds like a massive survivor buff... and one that will break the game to boot. Killers without scratchmarks are basically blind. It would be super easy to juke them.

Nurse is fine. She's not OP. She's found the most in high ranks because she is the most effective killer against loopers. And survivors at high ranks are all loopers (except for me that one time when I went up there just to get there).

@Mochan My friend was just saying the same thing. Having played really optimal survivors before, I know what worked well against me and what didn't, so I already have a good foundation. I had two pallet stuns against a killer during the chase and was never hit because I've seen other survivors run those same paths and stun me as a killer.

@thesuicidefox Camping and tunneling doesn't bother me, as I've used those same techniques when I need to change the momentum as a killer. I think the people that really get upset about that stuff are the ones who rarely, if ever, play killer and don't know what it's like to do whatever necessary to create map pressure against a team of optimal survivors.

Yeah it's the same here. As a long-time survivor, when I started playing Killer it was so easy finding everyone because I knew exactly where everyone was hiding, and I knew which way to go in a chase because I knew where they would usually go.

My killer mechanics suck (aiming is required) and I am not good at optimal pathing, but I can get by on just game sense. These are baby survivors anyway so they're not super good at looping.

    @HavelmomDaS1 said:

    1. You should try to get to rank 1, cuz on the road to that u will experience a lot of different things, playstyles and killers.

    2. A Killer rage Quittung is absolutely not unfair for survivor. The match ends and they get the points. It's much more unfair when a survivor rage quits. For me, if I manage to tilt a killer that much that he rage quits it counts for me as an escape. More than that actually, I also broke a killer.

What makes you think you didn't break a survivor if a survivor rage quits? I find your double standard unusual. It's a lot better for a killer if a survivor rage quits. If you are upset over not getting a BBQ stack, lolwut? In return you have one less person doing gens. That's a HUGE advantage for killer. Now you can massacre the rest of his teammates in easy mode.

  • You misunderstand.

As a Veteran player myself, I would love to see it reduced.

In fact I have many times wanted to quit the game and I have taken long breaks, because the grind is so dry and tedious. I must rather want to Equip the Perks I want and have fun, not being forced the use BBQ, Distressing, Beast of Prey, Thrill of the Hunt all the time to keep hitting those 32000 bps every game.

If there was no grind, I didn't have to do that, I might even play to enjoy the game.

I haven't used We're Gonna Live Forever ever since I finished my second P3 survivor with all perks unlocked. I enjoy the game these days but I still grind BP to prestige my other survivors.

  • The grind is fine. It gives us long-time players something to do while killing or getting killed.

Newbie players can get fully functional with most perks they need in just 100 hours or so. It's no big deal. You need way more than 100 hours to actually play this game at a skill level where you won't get run over anyway, and perks have little to do with that.

    Crotus Prenn Asylum.

    Grim Pantry.

    Ormond.

    Coal Tower.

This is sarcasm right? Just making sure.

    Sheltered Woods.

...And a lot of other people would say The Game, but considering there's like 20+ safe pallets in that map guaranteed, I don't know. Survival rate is still in the low end regardless.

Guaranteed safe spots are looper-sided, not survivor-sided. Majority of survivors are not good at looping, it seems. Most survive mostly by avoiding detection. This is especially true in the lower ranks, where most people are.

This is why in overall stats Coldwind is the most survivor-sided map, while maps like Lery's and The Game have the lowest survival rates, because it's harder to hide from the killer in these maps.

Also as ihatelife said, MacMillan maps I find are easy mode for Survivors. They are dark, the only set of dark map left in the game actually, making stealth a good possibility, and some of them spawn with tons of good looping parts side by side, like Suffocation Pit.

  • If your ping is bad, it's bad. Nobody can tell why it's bad. If it suddenly spikes, it suspicious, but you have no way of knowing whether it spiked because their connection is just bad and flaky, or if they started streaming some PornTube in 4K to lagswitch.

  • I play Solo Survivor almost exclusively. I have only one friend in my friend list who plays the game and we sometimes play together. Sometimes.

It's no big deal. Also I have found that my survival rates are more or less the same whether I play 2-SWF or solo. In fact sometimes I even survive better on my own rather than with a friend. Having a friend around throws the mechanics of my usual gameplay a bit so I tend to die more.

Ultimately what decides your win is your skill and that of your teammates.

Playing solo is a lot of fun, and it's no-nonsense. I don't need to deal with other people, talking with them, etc. Sometimes I don't want to and I just want to play.

I don't know what buffs they can do to solo survivors. Make Bond baseline? The in return make things like NoEd baseline on the killer end. Things killers have been asking for. Things like that.

  • "because KB&M doesn't grant a huge advantage over control"

It actually does. Especially for killers, but also for survivors. You can't over-the-shoulder run on console the way survivors do it.

It's an interesting game mode, but I don't think the extra "complexity" of it adds anything to the experience, in fact it feels like it just dilutes it, you hear a terror radius but this killer is actually "Safe" what is up with that?

And who wants to compete on emblems? We want to kill or escape. It's not an interesting way to "win."

Also just to be clear: your team's killer is there to kill the enemy team's survivors, right? And the point is everyone of your team should bring Bond and Open-Handed, so you can detect the enemy survivors and tell your killer where to kill them.

Sorry, this is so far from what DBD should be, I think it's not a good game mode at all.

Worse, it does absolutely nothing to solve the SWF problem.

  • @Shad03 said:

As a person who plays mostly killer, I would suggest you hold off saying how easy survivor is when you are in rank 20. Trust me it gets harder.

It gets harder, but his experience as killer means he's already really good as survivor. If you are having an easy time at Rank 20 it doesn't get much harder until really later. To be honest Rank 20 is one the hardest places to be a Survivor, mostly because of potato teammates.

Thankfully most killers at this rank are babies as well, but the real challenge happens when you start fighting experienced killers similar to yourself who know how to look and how to chase.

  • They can't.

No killers would play Casual, and no Survivors would play Ranked.

    Game implodes.

  • well not everyone runs it, but when they do kudos to them for countering you!

  • So with Freddy you can't see him, but he can see you? That's sad.

  • I want a perk that lets me hurt myself. So I can No Mither myself and sneak around on the ground.

  • How they get 17k without doing any gens?

No good killer needs or uses NOED, baby killer perk. Thats not opinion, thats fact. Seeing survivors moan about NOED is embarrassing, same as the ones who moan and cant do ruin gens. Embarrassing.

Dont @ me with the facts above.

  • I have never seen it brought up.

I haven't been on these forums that long but I did hangout on Steam Forums since I started playing. I have never seen it brought up, so it seemed like nobody cared about it, and I even see people happy to see killers deranking.

  • 75k playing on Steam right now disagree with you.

  • What does Pig's Letter do again? (I don't have Pig)

  • People are not rage-quitting 100 times in a row.

In fact, that's even almost impossible. I doubt anyone has ever played 100 games in a row, and they most certainly aren't rage quitting in each one.

I have also never seen any censorship on these forums. I talk smack all the time and I have never been silenced.

I thought SWF was a minority of players. At least that's what I keep hearing when people complain about the balance issues.

Yeah. Then this small minority will quit playing the game. Either way, it's a loss for everyone.

@DeadGavin Most killers are viable at red ranks.

However, what I said is most killers are not viable in red ranks against good survivors. I am not wrong in this.

The Depip squad already proved this. Not much has changed since then. In fact if you include bugs (like entity blockers not blocking and sound bugs), and the inclusion of MoM and the meta now being of pushing gens as hard as possible to heal with adrenaline, it's gotten even worse since then.

Then there's some killers like Huntress that could be viable but only on certain maps and if RNG is kind. Huntress isn't gonna do much when she gets Lery's, The Game, or certain structure set ups like Rancid Arbitrator, Autohaven Garage, Haddonfield and Baddham Preschool houses, Crotus Prenn Asylum, and many more. Some of these are literally infinites to her and there's not a damn thing she can do about it. Even then, some maps like corn maps in general, or Yomoka's Estate, are just outright awful for her.

    And guess what?

    That is not a problem.

If killers lose to well-organized, good survivors who make no mistakes and play the perfect game, then what is the problem? If they played well and they have the skill to do it then more power to them.

The vast majority of survivors are not good. Even at red ranks. You will have your revenge the next game.

There are Killer streamers out there who play perkless at red ranks and still win. Just as Depip Squad proves killers can't hang at red ranks, these people prove that killers can win and dominate at red ranks.

  • @Blueberry said:

To OP, your idea is actually what I think would be the best idea as well.

I don't like the idea of splitting the player base, but SWF is a serious issue and if there was ever anything that would be worthy of that risk it would be this.

SWF for Casual Que and Solo for Ranked Que.

We could even get lenient and allow a 2 man SWF in Ranked, just keep the 3 or 4 to Casual.

Give a little extra blood point bonus to Casual Que.

People will choose the casual for messing around, practicing new killers/perks and if they just want more bloodpoints. They will choose Ranked when they are ready to try and move up the ladder.

Obviously this entire idea only works if along with all of this they introduce regular rank rewards.

This is the best solution to make everyone happy with SWF imo.

Their current idea of bringing solo's up to SWF level is just a bad idea for a multitude of reasons.

What will happen actually is no killers will play Casual Queue and survivors will quit the game because they can't SWF.

  • Killers only like to complain about when the totem gets blow up quick.

Most of the time the totems take a while to find, and on some games Hex stays forever until everyone has been killed. Totems are fine as they are in my opinion.

But I don't mind if this change is done, it's not a big deal.

  • Of course we should get DBD2. And it should come out on whatever consoles are available at the time.

And BHVR better not be stingy and keep all the licensed killers we already have and add them to the game.

  • They should. Especially Resilience, perk is weak enough as it is.

  • So how are the numbers now after the free weekend.

Oh it's still 63k just remembered we're ahead of the US by 16 hours.

  • Leatherface is the best camper in the game, so it's standard strategy for him to camp.

Camping is also really good strategy and makes sense, because most survivors are altruistic, and will net you easy kills as Leatherface.

Also, no matter what you say the best strategy to slow down the game is to tunnel one survivor and eliminate him as quickly as possible, and campoing lends to that.

  • Nah, 99ing is asking to lose. Just finish the gens ASAP and let the guy take the beartrap off. If you want to help go loop the killer or something.

The real way to fight pig is to use Urban Evasion and fall in when you notice her sneaking by.

  • Endgame Collapse is definitely killer-sided, but that's fine.

You can tilt it to your favor by bringing Plunderer along and fishing for keys.

  • The game is only impossible to win if you DC when you get downed.

  • Borrowed isn't really an endgame perk, other than killers tend to camp in Endgame, but then killers also tend to camp the entire game.

  • Feng Min for sure. She sounds like she could do work for hentai.

  • Depends on how you want to play. These are the perks I recommend:

    • Bond - best perk in the game
    • Urban Evasion - best stealth perk in the game
    • Iron Will - second best stealth perk in the game
    • Ace in the Hole - only if you want to run santa claus builds
    • Mettle of Man, Decisive Strike, Balanced Landing - for the loopers out there
    • Adrenaline - for gen rushers and people too lazy to heal
    • We're Gonna Live Forever - mandatory for everyone who isn't rich in BP

Exhaustion perks are your choice, really. I almost never pack any, it comes down to play style. Some people say Selfcare, but I think it's a bad perk to be honest and wastes too much time when you should be doing something useful.

If you like Windows and want to vault around go grab Dance With Me and Quick and Quiet and use with Lithe. Eventually you will want to drop Windows.

  • This is too broken for killers.

  • LOL no, Nea should at least be Good, but frankly I think she's top Tier, at least above Claudette. Claudette should be Good at best. Quentin should be at the bottom with Ace and Tapp. Dwight should also be top tier, or at least above Claudette. Fengmin should be in Good Tier.

  • Takes around 8 mins for me.

Survivor is waaaay faster instant room or 5 seconds tops, fills up in a Minute with people who teday up unless Bugged.

  • Works for me.

I cleanse all full totems I come across anyway.

  • Yeah I've been suggesting something similar as well.

However I think that some additional balance changes need to be done.

I wouldn't mind needing twice the amount of gas to get a Gen working, and it can be repaired even without gas, but the repair time should be a little shorter because repairing gens is boring frankly. Running around fetchingg gas is a lot more engaging.

  • We need to remove Kiler's ability to see players in the lobby.

So the killer gets to prep?If he sees people packing 4 toolkits he packs in Franklin's, it's toxic because it just punishes survivors for wanting to use items the game gives out for them to use.

Worse, many times what I see happening is, if Killer sees several Blendettes in the lobby he swaps to Doctor and readies an Ebony Mori.

This is just toxic and seriously has no place in the game. Killer prep is overrated and harmful to the game, and should be removed.

1 … 43 44 45 46 47 … 52
