Can't tell if this is serious or just very nice bait. If you think this killer is hard to escape from, stand behind something. See how fast that power of his negates.

What is the actual reasoning behind rank resets to begin with?.. All it does is force people to play with lower skill levels, cause frustration and make them have to grind back?
My guess is to keep the ranks varied. If everyone was Rank 1 for both sides, new players would only encounter the super skilled and that would be a tad unfair, but at the same time, when rank reset hits, those same players may end up encountering these players because of the said reset. So I guess it's a double-edged sword.

I have fun doing that, honestly. I'm not great at chases - I'm good enough at looping that I can trick a killer who isn't into thinking they've got no chance, but against an actual good killer I'm down in 20 seconds - and I don't enjoy them a whole lot because if the killer is better than me, I get downed and hooked and that's not much fun, and if I'm better than the killer I feel bad because it feels like I'm bullying them, and that's not much fun either.
I enjoy the thrill of managing to barely evade the killer through stealth much more than I do the thrill of being chased by them. The former feels exciting and like I outplayed my opponent; the latter, as explained above, feels either boring or mean, depending on the outcome. And I actually enjoy doing generators as well, because it makes me feel like I'm pulling my weight and accomplishing something instead of just wasting time so that other people can finish the objective for me, and I can entertain myself while holding M1 by looking out for the killer, keeping tabs on what my teammates are up to, and planning my next move.
Essentially, being stealthy and completing objectives ultimately just feels much more satisfying to me.
That's understandable. I'm god awful in a chase. I panic run more than actually find a good loop. But for me, I enjoy the thrill of trying to outrun a killer, or mindgame them. Thanks for that input. I hadn't really thought of a sort of stealth player.
-
Both sides are equally boring lately. Survivors only run DS, BT, Adrenaline and a X Exhaustion perk. Killers are always Spirit, Freddy, Hillbilly or Leatherface for me with most having NOED which isn't a bad thing and I really don't blame them anymore. When I play killer, I vary my perks rather than go for the easy downs. I don't want my matches being over instantly on either side and want to at least have some chases and fun before the match ends, but lately, it seems both sides would rather the match end the second it begins.

I had a bully squad yesterday on Ironworks as Deathslinger. I honestly don't understand the reason of going in as a bully squad when a new killer literally came out yesterday. Like, you realize this is the reason all you see at high ranks is Nurse, Freddy, Billy, and Spirit? No one is going to want to play other killers when they know they're going to get bullied for 6 minutes straight and they can't do anything about it. Hopefully survivors go easy on him for the next few weeks, or else by the end of this week it'll probably be back to the same old 4 killers over and over.
I've had multiple bully squads already. OoO runners, 4 Toolboxes to sabo hooks, the works. One group failed badly, but it still isn't the point. Why play the game if you're just going to act like a immature child on a playground knowing you 'beat' the killer. I get their enjoyment comes from destroying others, but I really don't see why. We're all here to just have fun at the end of the day.
-
@Spooky13 said:
I'm enjoying him while survivors are still trying to figure out how to counter him. Played a few games as survivor and it was pretty easy to dodge his harpoons. Give him a few weeks, people will get good with him, and people who can't won't and will stop playing him, similarly to Nurse and Huntress.
It got to that point already for me. All day today, every survivor I encounter runs god loops and makes sure I can't physically hit them even when harpooned. They now dodge all over the place and now bodyblock the chain. Can't even play the guy for fun now since everyone just wants to slam gens against him and leave. So just another typical day in DbD!
-
You can always tell when they're planning to hatch escape together. There's a strange silence for a couple of minutes, nobody found at all and no gen's are being touched. These are usually alarm bells to me that they're about to make those icons turn into doors!
-
I'm hoping we can get the conditions on this soon too. I thought just harpooning them away as they worked on it worked, but no progress. Tried hitting them as they did it, nothing. It's very confusing to how this actually works.
-
I wish they would introduce Cross-Save/Progression since I plan to switch from Xbox to PS4 next week, and it's going to be such a pain to re-unlock everything all over again!
-
I'm just tired of SWF teams coming into matches with OoO and every meta perk going. What's the point of playing the game if you're just going to slam the gens and leave? Where's the fun in that? I swear most players these days would be happier without a killer to interupt their precious gen simulator and lobby simulator game!
-
Survivors will complain about anything if you harm their egos. Unless you allow them to skip out the gates holding their hands, you're the worst person on the planet.
-
I agree that it takes time, but doesn't it seem far too convenient that bugs or exploits on killers are gone in a week, yet survivor bugs and exploits are their for months? Bugs on killers that make them worse (Nurse) are STILL in the game, despite people telling the devs for months. So, I can't agree with you on this. The devs seem to pick and choose what they want to fix, and it always seems to be related more to survivors. And unless they show more evidence of this not being the case, it's hard to change my mind on it.
-
The only ones I find slightly useful are the ones in the Saloon, since the window takes up time. Beyond that, the rest are just useless and give more advantage to survivors than the killer.

That’s very true but I have raged before but I tried my best to not let any negative survivors effect me but it does.
It's only natural to feel that way. If a teammate decides to DC while there are still 5 Gens, you may as well call that game and match. 1 Survivor down is a huge boon to any killer. It always annoys me when people DC or suicide hook because it just screws the entire team up and what could have been a good match turns into a complete mess.
-
People will find any reason to DC. They got downed first, they don't like that they're dead on hook, they hate the killer. I had a Jane DC earlier just because she failed to Head-On me. This shows how little it takes for someone to DC. Penalties won't ever change that either. As long as there are things people don't like in a match, they'll DC out of rage.

I think that says more about people gradually ranking up due to playtime instead of skill than anything else.
Pretty much this. I'm god awful at loops, and I never use exhastion perks, but still managed to hit Rank 1. It doesn't take much anymore.
-
Not just Blendettes that can do it either! I had a Nea sitting inside one and I only noticed her hat poking out slightly. A Jake also did it, and he had Iron Will. Took me way too long to figure out he was inside a bush.
-
I've found most survivors I face don't care if the perk is active. They only bother to try unhook if nobody else is or I chase them off the gen. That seems to be the only time they'd dare let go of that gen. It has come in handy, but a lot of survivors are pretty much glued to gens lately.
-
I've had a Error 505 when starting a match, and a few matches the network connection just outright cuts off. It's not constant, but it's frequent enough to notice there's some kind of issue with this patch.
-
I've always struggled with these types. Mainly because the killer will wait for you to drop the pallet, or they knock you down before you actually get to drop said pallet. I guess you just gotta get really lucky, or wait right beside the pallet for them to come at you and risk a hit. And also pray that your teammates don't drop every pallet in the map, which is usually the case for me.
-
When they decide to do that, there will be no killers remaining in the game. It's a sad fact that survivors voices seem to be heard more than killers. I play both sides, and I hate how easy it is to play survivor, and when I play killer, it's more a farming event than actual winning. Trying to enjoy this game is getting harder every patch honestly.
-
Why would it need a cooldown? It only reveals a scream aura, not your actual location. By the time the killer arrives at the scene of the scream, you could be long gone, and the slugged survivor, if they are still downed, could be up and away.
-
BT, DS, MoM. There are ways around people camping. And if there isn't, slam the gens and leave. The killer will Depip, get much less BP and find it wasn't worth it in the long-run.

I don't think being able to pull over pallets would be a very fair power, since it makes pallets totally useless against him unless they have high walls or the loop is not linear enough to pull just from looping. Even then, bloodlust is a thing that exists sometimes
Even with Bloodlust on a pallet loop, your chances of catching a survivor before vaulting are slim at best. You can get lucky and quick shot but most times it seems to let them vault before it even registers that they got hit with the harpoon. I don't see the issue with allowing him to drag someone over a pallet. It's not like it would make him OP in anyway and it would discourage survivors from abusing pallets around him.

I won’t be banned for mori spamming? If so why? And how’s that different from flashlight spamming or tbaging ? There both done to make someone angry
If people could be banned over things making people angry, then the entre playerbase would be banned. Camping, Tunneling, T-Bagging, Clicking flashlights, pallet stunning, the list goes on. Just because someone does it for a reaction doesn't mean it entitles a ban.
-
It's what this game has become. Red ranks just stomp all over low ranked killers and take pleasure in knowing that they did. Makes them feel good. But put those same people up against a Rank 1 killer and see how fast their mood changes.

Also note how the devs won't respond to this post because they know they have nothing to say about this, no matter the evidence we bring up they will offer a whopping 0 amount of justification for their decision making in balancing for this topic.
Why would they? From experience so far, they only respond to survivor based questions. Anything to do with Killer is ignored, and survivor mains abuse them for it. They've even shown it in Livestreams where people asked legit questions about perks and killer powers, but the avoid anything around killers and just answer the questions about 'How we came up with X idea'. And people wonder why they think devs are survivor biased?
-
Best solution is never reply to them. I once replied to a person being abusive toward me to calm down, it's a game, only to receive a 72 hour ban from Xbox. Just report them and delete the message and turn off non-friend notifcations to stop them from popping up. Xbox are absolute garbage at dealing with any of it anyway.

If you're gonna go that route, I STRONGLY recommend adding Agitation for maximum memes. Combined with Mad Grit and Iron Grasp, you become fast enough that you can actually start chasing Survivors for a bit while carrying someone.
I've seen some streamers run that sort of build before, but never thought to try it since I always try keep Sloppy and BBQ with my perks. May run Agitation instead just for the lols
-
This explains why a Jake I faced kept charging at me when I picked up a downed survivor. I just thought he was trying to be brave or something.
-
I've started using Mad Grit and Iron Grasp for this reason alone. Let them sabo and body block all they like. That survivor ain't leaving their new home!
-
I've only seen solos using it so far, and they used it badly. They insta'd a unhooked survivor from the basement and all I had to do was wait nearby for them to emurge and boom. Harpoon to the face. It really didn't help that they unhooked as I was outside the basement area so it was on them really.

It wasn't an issue for survivors. They are looking into it now because survivors are complaining there are no Killers. x'D
Ah that makes sense. I guess only survivors are heard lately.

I kind of disagree
Gearhead - The nerf was stupid, but the perk itself is still pretty solid, it may be a good replacement for discordance or surveillance. Nurse and Oni will get.a ton of value out of it.
Dead mans switch - This perk is basically a better, reversed version of Thrilling Tremors for high pressure killers, its basically 45 seconds of the survivors being unable to do anything, in that time you can easily down someone, go back and kick that gen.
Retribution - Alone its not really useful, but if you combine it with thrilling tremors it can be hell to go against.
As for Deathslinger, He may not be the best killer out there, but he is definitely one of the most fun and with some practice I bet anyone can stomp any survivor team with him.
Agreed with you on the perks. I only use Dead Man's and my god, it has helped so many times. The killer isn't great, but I've had so much fun with him, I don't care if I 4k or lose. So much fun!
-
And yet we're still facing it after 4 months. In all this time, they couldn't just fix it? They seem to find plenty of time to slam out DLC and Cosmetics, patch 'bugs' and change gameplay elements, but can't find the slightest bit of time to try fix the core problem with the game. Seems reasonable to me!
-
They seriously need to change DS to deactivate if you hook another survivor, or they do an action like cleanse a totem or repair a gen. It's getting annoying when a survivor will go out of their way to abuse it to save someone else from being hooked, knowing they'll just get away free anyway. The same goes for other 2nd chance perks, it's tiring having survivors just outright know they've won because of the 4 they run at all times. It takes zero skill and yet they think they're amazing for it. But if a killer runs NOED or any sort of 2nd chance, we're trash noobs.

@Shirokuro said:
His terror radius is intentionally small (and so the music is quiet) because he's supposed to be a semi-stealthy killer.
Understandable, but it's still very quiet. There were times I could barely hear it over the generator I'd be working on, and by the time I realised he was coming, I have a harpoon in my back. It just needs to be boosted a little more to be able to actually hear it better.
-
I like the map overall, but hate the bushes all over the place. It makes tracking survivors who run into them tricky to find again. Not to mention they can hide in the bushes and be near invisible! I had a Nea sit inside one and only saw her because of the colorful hat slightly clipping out of it. The breakable walls are a little underwhelming imo. I was expecting them to at least open new pathways, but they just seem to create an extra doorway beside other doors.
-
I've had so many matches that have screwed over my 'Kill everyone as Doc' challenge because they DC if they're caught. Hell, I'm even having people DC against Deathslinger because they got harpooned through a window. It shows a lot about these kinds of survivors who will just outright DC because they can't have their 'EZ Win' anymore.
-

I had a SWF who teabagged like mad at the end. In my head I was like "Yeah good job. You beat the guy playing the new killer for the 3rd time and have very few good perks. Go you. Your parents must be real proud." Been variations of it all day.
My Deathslinger helped a very salty Meg fix her issue with uncontrollable butt dancing. She found a new home on a hook, but we fear she'll never T-Bag the same again! 😂
-
I was wondering this too. I saw on the PTB streams that people were able to shoot pretty fast, but on Xbox, there's been a few times now I tried to shoot as I aimed, and nothing happens. Feels like there's far too much delay on the shoot ability.
-
I honestly don't know why they all do it? Why play the game if you want it over in 2 minutes. Where's the fun for either side in that? I've noticed far more SWF groups saboing hooks for easy wins, which is a tactic sure, but it's also a really crappy way to win and rub it in the killers face. IMO that isn't skill. You waited until you saw them near a hook and boom. I wish I could go against survivors who aren't so sweaty and actually let the game last at least 5 minutes!
-

Yeah she can get on top of killer shack too.
What, seriously? I barely play Nurse since I'm god awful with her, but I might have to go test this out, just for the lols.
-
If you're refering to the Perks that award Tokens for certain actions, then you just get them from doing the described action.
For example, Devour Hope requires Tokens to activate each level. To earn tokens, you must hook a survivor, and be a set distance away from the hooked player to earn the token. Hope this helps.
-
He is the most fun I've had in months. I don't care if I lose or get no hooks or kills, just being able to mess with survivors by dragging them around is so much fun. Even some survivors have joined in the fun on a few maps for me. A Steve let me play target practice with him as he stood on the Saloon Gen balcony and I tried to pull him off. Honestly, if more players just had fun with the games, I bet the community would be a lot better.

Ah good to know. I've leveled my Deathslinger to 33 and still haven't had one. But good to know they're in the game... Somewhere among the Bloodwebs.
-
There's no buff, patch or Perk that can even cure potatoe's of Idiot Syndrome. I only ever play solo and it always annoys me so much when I see someone doing nothing productive, or that one obligated survivor is Self-Caring in a corner or basement. Kindred is so handy, but I sometimes wish I don't see what I see!
-
I've found that aiming as they run makes survivors try dodge more, and end up running into obstacles more, meaning a free hit. If they're heading for a window or pallet, try quick shoot them before they can drop it. M&A comes in very handy as most times they'll try crouch to hide, meaning if they don't see you, free harpoon to the back. Also, if you manage to harpoon them through a window, be careful where you aim the hit. Too low and you hit the window itself and they get away free. If they do block you from hitting them while harpooned, I'd say take the stun and place them in DW. They're going to be forced to heal, so theres some wasted time. If you really can't afford the stun, attack with the weapon and it breaks the chain for you, but they won't be injured. Hope this helps in some way.

to be honest its extremely sad how his whole power is just negated if a survivor drops a pallet early, especially since hes 110.
my match wasnt too bad tho luckily, as this one zarina was so cocky but kept getting downed instantly lmfao
Yeah it's not too bad if they're full health, then at least if they pallet block, they get Deep Wounds, but it does suck you can't just drag them over the pallet. I've had a similar match. A Meg got a little too feisty with a Flashlight near an exit and must of forgotten that I can drag you far away from your pals. Fun match, very salty!

physically just gagged at it... also like how haddonfield is barely chosen randomly until youre playing a new killer thats 110
Oh don't get me started! The only saving grace of Deathslinger in that map was the single line alleys survivors ran up allowing me to drag them back. Beyond that, it was terrible! Way too many loops they could just break my chains at easily.
