I've been busy with other things and as soon as I hit tier 70 on the Rift, I dipped. Oni's "hotfix" before the holiday season also left a bad taste in my mouth anyway so until the midchapter drops, I'm not gonna touch DBD.
-
You played the wrong hand in that game. You had BT and misused your Sprint Burst. I won't comment on your perk choice, I understand Small Game to a degree. You should've taken a hit as soon as the Laurie took hers.

Most likely non-DLCs characters, since they cannot force people to buy anything to complete the Tome and expand the lore, even the 9k shards characters. That's imo the biggest limit of the rift.
The Devs have said they'll be including DLC characters in future tomes.
-
Same reason why Steve and Nancy are here. Alternate timelines, branching choices and decisions, etc.
-
Yep, it was removed and it looks like the devs have no plans of bringing it back. It's really sad, looked awesome.
-
As a survivor: If I loop the killer for a gen or two and maybe get a gen done myself, I'll be satisfied. Any altruism is a bonus to me.
As a killer: Hooking everyone twice, that's all I ask.
-
This does put a smile on my face. I hope they take inspiration or straight up use the incredible music that the one guy (his name is escaping me) made and posted here.

I haven't played Oni since the nerf to his "flick" and I have to say, good job devs, you actually managed to make him a "worse in every single way" billy v2.0
Don't worry, the fabled hotfix for Oni that restores the flick is coming February 29th, 2069. Not too far off!
-
@Peanits said:
There will be a stream before the holidays, yes. We'll be announcing it shortly. There's not enough time for a hotfix, though. It'd be pretty risky to do before we all leave, since if something went horribly wrong, we wouldn't be able to fix it in time.
We gave details on what we'd like to do to the flick here, though: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/112192/
Great, just great. BHVR releases a fun and exciting killer, tests him out on PTB for bugs, buffs and nerfs him accordingly, nerfs his flick because it was a bit too much on PTB, says they're gonna remove the unfair keyboard + mouse flick combo, and then breaks Oni with a "fix" patch out of the blue only to say he's getting fixed after the holidays. What, excuse me?
I am usually one to defend BHVR for their actions, I sympathize with a lot of the choices they make, but this? This is just rude, anti-consumer, and just incredibly disrespectful to the players who bought Oni on day 1 and those who've supported you for years at this point. I'm not angry that you're pushing back the patch, I'm angry that you broke him and now are waiting out the entire Holiday season to fix what shouldn't have been broken in the first place.
Henceforth, I'm taking the approach that many players of this game already have, which is waiting months before buying any new content for fear of disasters like this going on. Have a great season, BHVR. I know I will playing Civ 6. :)
-
Two possibilities: Alternate timeline Steve and Nancy or they escape in time for Season 4. Take your pick.

What you mean is flicking with mouse + Q/E for more turning right?
But the regular mouse flicking was working as intended am i right? Because people who used just a mouse definitely dont feel the same as Janick guy said they should.
Exactly. What the hell is going on, BHVR?

I love the Oni; but just cause he can't turn as hard doesn't make him not viable; especially since it wasn't even intended.
@Janick Yes it was. Read Janick's post in this thread. Keyboard flicks were no bueno. Mouse flicks were.

Uh...Okay. You actually don't know what you're talking about. I get it now.
I'll say it as simple as possible:
The mouse movement (whether on survivor or killer) and left/right on the keyboard (whatever you have them bound to because they aren't bound by default), are bound to the SAME action at an engine level. They do the SAME thing in game. In some cases, the keyboard, being digital, offers something the mouse doesn't - the ability to perform fill-tilt, balls to the wall sharp turns (ala - Hillbilly steering). In some cases, the mouse, which is more or less analog, is better because it provides better control over precise movements, especially for Billy's flick. Whatever you're using to perform this action, they are the same action, and the game recognizes them as doing the same thing. Basically, you can't change one without changing the other.
The reason the mouse worked so well is because it offered greater control over the movement, because of it's analog nature, where as the keyboard, when used, has one speed and only one speed. There's no modifier. It's why most people who are good at Billy use the keyboard to steer his sprint, and the mouse to perform is chainsaw flick. Oni operated the same way. Just so happens, you can't 180 around corners with the mouse anymore on Oni. Big deal.
Next time, try to know what you're talking about before making pseudo intellectual statements.
You're one angry little man, ain'tcha?
Keyboard and mouse-flicking are not tied to the same engine and exist as separate entities. It's the way the game works. Read what @Janick said, my dude. Also, try formatting your angry rant better, I don't want to read a whole essay on why I've got rocks for a brain.

Yes, it was intended. It was never intended that you would have keyboard and mouse flicking, just mouse flicking. Look at what @Janick said.

Regardless of what he's saying, you can't flick past like 20 degrees with the mouse.
I'm praying its a bug. Oni is super fun to play and watching you play him is the most entertaining DBD gameplay I've seen since launch.
-
I will keep pinging @Janick on this. He said that the flick with the mouse is supposed to be better than previously but as of now it is far worse. Is it a bug? Or did you lie?

The keyboard and mouse flicks are tied to the same engine control. They both perform the same action. They are one and the same.
Then why could they be doubled up pre patch? Janick said you're supposed to flick with the mouse and as of right now it isn't working as such. There's no evidence they're tied to the same engine control.

Perhaps before flapping your ignorant jaws, you should actually look at my post history. Nobody is more critical of their BS than I am. That doesn't change the fact that they said this was unintended, and they did away with it. Now, go away and let the adults talk. :)
They said the keyboard flicking was not intended, friend. If flicking in its entirety wasn't allowed, @Janick wouldn't have said what he said. I'm not trying to start anything but if you're going to die on a hill, make sure you're dying on one that is actually factual. The mouse turning is supposed to exist. As of now, it is bugged until otherwise confirmed.

thats the point, everyone says he can only rotate 10 degree
My rule of thumb is this: if Scott Jund can still dominate with Oni after this "nerf", then he's fine. The Q and E ######### had to go but the simple turning at the end of a dash is necessary to Oni.

Hello
Use the mouse not the keys, you should go 90 no problem.
If you can still move the mouse and rotate 90 degrees at the end of a dash, Oni should still be okay. Remapping keys is ridiculous and was never meant to exist.

Legion's been shown to be the latter, I think, but I think they made a huge missed opportunity by not letting them have other members as ambushes.

His addons.

In the lore Akito who is the son of Kazan fell from a tree and Kazan took his frustration out on Akito's playmate and their family.Imo he didn't go as far as to kill the kid, but he did have some kind of punishment. And as far as his parents go, probably both were tortured and probably had their legs snapped like his son's leg did.
Personally, I think the injury Akito suffered caused Kazan to lose his grip on his honor and Samurai mentality. Pair that with the Entity nudging him along the path of corrupt honor and you have the reason for the Oni's rage and hatred of fake samurai.
-
Object is far worse than Babysitter in the hands of anyone other than an obnoxious loop god. Babysitter is a double edged sword. 50/50 whether it works for you or it kills you.
-
I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth on this one. They listened and they're fixing it. That is what matters.
-
Adding on to Kazan's story: Akito was his son who fell from a tree and injured his leg beyond repair. It's never mentioned in the lore but is mentioned HEAVILY in the addons. Drawing a line between Akito losing his ability to be a true samurai warrior and Kazan killing impostors and losing his mind is a pretty obvious conclusion. Looking forward to the Archives on Kazan greatly.

Spoilers for this who haven't finished the Master Challenges in Tome 3.
In the cutscene, we see Evan's father in the mines, beating up one of the workers, maybe one of Evan's friends who sold him out before the mine collapsed, with Evan being witness to this, as recognized by his green suspenders. We see a shadow walking away from a bed, presumably Archie MacMillan, Evan's father. Evan then wakes up in his bed with a bandaged hand before looking at a picture of him and his father. You can see a framed picture above Evan's bed, the picture of his dying mother that his father hung up.
In the Trapper's character info it says
"When Archie MacMillan finally snapped, Evan became his enforcer in what would become known as the worst mass murder in modern history."
This is presumably what happens in Memory 1244, the final memory. Instead of beating Evan like usual, his father simply walks away. Evan follows him, apologizing, getting no response. It says
"Don't pretend. I know. A few of you maggot friends sold you out for a few dollars. Evan starts but doesn't say anything. Can't say anything. The words are caught in his throat. He apologizes. His father says nothing. Walks away. Evan follows him to his bedroom where he sees... the picture of his dying mother... framed above the bed. His father tells Evan he will learn a lesson tomorrow. One he hopes he understands. Evan stares at his father and feels... hate... hate for the maggots who betrayed him and for his father... respect... no... not respect... admiration..."
It could be possible that seeing Evan's drawings made Archie snap. Archie is seen in the mines, around a few heavily beaten bodies. It could be possible Archie wanted Evan to see this to teach him a lesson.
But from then on we don't know what happens. All we know is that Evan presumably becomes more and more like his father, ruling the workers with an iron fist. It could be possible that the cave in was solely Archie's doing, and as his father became sicker and weaker Evan stepped up to rule the workers just as his father did. We know that Evan looks up to his father more and more throughout his memories, eventually idolizing him, which possibly lead Evan to step up to take his father's place. We still don't know how Archie died, only that he was found starved and abandoned in an old warehouse.
I'm led to believe that Evan killed Archie after several more years of torment and depravity. Evan is an obvious victim of Stockholm Syndrome so it makes sense that he went along so willingly. Why he killed his dad is up in the air, considering that Evan is a teenager when the mine cave in occurs but it is said that the the first three killers are at least 30.

I do think a revamp to idle animations and running should be done someday. Every survivor behaving the same way mechanically is a little dull. Steve deserves his badass pose and Ace deserves his fingerguns.

To me, seeing the Demogorgon's poor stats has been a relief. It mean I was not crazy in thinking that something was wrong with this killer.
I've said this many times now but I'll just repeat it. I thinking shred is mostly fine. Maybe it could use some fine tuning, but its not what I have issues with.
The Demogorgon's biggest hurdle is that his portals are inconvenient to place and use, way to easy to remove and have a boat load of secondary mechanics (Undetectable, Killer Instinct, Oblivious) that don't actually do anything impactfull or significant.
Also most of his add-ons only provide laughable numerical modifiers and his teachable perks are terrible.
I've been in the same boat. New chapter was awesome (love me some Steve) and I dig the idea and vibe of the Demogorgon but I just can't seem to get him to work without feeling like I'm doing chores. He's unfun to play and I'm blown away by some people's ranking of him on tierlists.
Place a portal, walk away, place another, teleport to one, walk away, check to see if someone is there, nope, walk away, check again, oh dang someone is, let me teleport, dang still on cooldown, lemme place another portal to kill time, alright ready to telep-, nevermind, there goes my portal.
Shred is rough at times but gets the job done when need be. The portals are the issue, like you said. I don't love Hag but I can perform well with her when need be but with Demo, I feel like I'm juggling two dozen things at once and am constantly dropping balls only for more to be added. I hope he gets tweaked.
-
God damnit. Well, I guess even the balanced killers who combat the fast paced nature of gen speed these days are gonna get hit hard. Freddy, my boy, my favorite killer, my main from the get-go, you were excellent for at least half a year and for that, I am happy... Rest in peace, lad.

People have been vocal about Spirit, and especially prayer beads for awhile now. The changes to Spirit that they implemented mostly left her basekit untouched and just tweeked her addons.
Exactly, the whining over Spirit has always been present. It's just that it wasn't the loudest, hate over the Nurse was. Complaints over Freddy, however, have been minimal since his rework and especially now that he had that slight bloodlust nerf. Forever Freddy is rough against weak survivors but against a good team, it slows the game down just enough to make it pretty fair for both sides.
-
@DeKillerKiller said:
Oh #########, I'm worried these stats might give them a justification to nerf him. Freddy is balanced how he is right now. I'm really really afraid right now.
Same, bro. The Bloodlust nerf was justified but he doesn't need to be gutted. He just got good this year, don't kill him AGAIN, BHVR!

Good tier list, surprised people consider Huntress to be top of A tier still. Only thing I would change is swapping Freddy and Hag. They're close in power levels but Freddy has the advantage in a chase which Hag lacks.

While we're at it can we get some love for Nurse's teleporting sister Hag?
Hag is easily A tier already. Making her stronger would make Urban Evasion and Flashlights mandatory for every match as Survivor. Let's worry about Nurse and Doctor/Legion for now.

S: Nurse, Spirit
A: (Oni?), Freddy, Billy, Hag, Ghost Face, Plague
B: Huntress, Myers, Demogorgon, Pig
C: Trapper, Wraith, Doctor, Legion
D: Clown = Leatherface
Added Wraith

tbf, i never really played plague.
what ive seen of her tho is, that she gets genrushed very easily and for most survivors being injured all game isnt that big of a threat against a normal M1 killer.
we can talk about B-Rank, but A-Rank is too high for her imo.
Your entitled to your opinion but I highly suggest you play her with the slowdown build or watch someone else use it. Sure, survivors will stay sick all game to avoid cleansing but now they are all oneshots and affected by Thanna.
-
Personally, I feel the power should cancel out when you pick up a survivor but refund you your remaining time back into the charge bar. I think that's a great buff for him and it will make the only annoying thing about him feel much better.

thats just my opinion, feel free to disagree.
they are also not necessarily sorted from strongest to weakest in the tiers themselves. i tried to do that aswell, but for some killers i probaply didnt do too well...
also i do know Trapper is too low :/
Your list was good until you put Plague in C tier. She's easily bottom of A tier, top of B tier. Thanna + Dying Light Plague is disgusting.
