If you think the sole way to play this game is getting into chases you might genuinely wanna deinstall it and play something else.

He has counterplay but is not just braindead loopy; you have to bait him into a shoot: if he miss a shoot, he lose a lot of ground on the survivor. II best counter, he has low map mobility, so gen rushy it's actually a thing against him. But ppl want just loop. I will mori the plebs until they stop playing the game, I'm tired to all this "loopy" meta
Exactly (except the mori, unless they are douchecanoes and I meet them again).
And really, I have met so many new players who not just do what I wrote, but... They do totems. As if it's a given.
I hope they will never get convinced only loopy-jukey-genrush is the sole true way to play
-
both sides meaning killers and survivors... that's how language works in this case.
-
depends: do you want to farm against or with survivors?

Hag's sweater could have too long sleeves that double as a weapon

This is not bait -_-
Oh and don't worry cutie I know how to bait... If I want ;)
We've seen your other threads
-
He ain't broken.
People just try so goddamn hard to impose the some tactics against every killer, and defend themselves with 'only chases are fun'. They aren't, and not every killer should even be engaged in a chase. Deathslinger isn't the first one, those were Hag and Myers.
There is an issue, but it's not his ability or anything what people cry bloody murder over.
It's that he has few maps where he can shine. He's meant to be faced with stealth and outmanoeuvring him outside of loops and jukes. Many maps don't allow for that due to how they are designed as of now.
But yeah, bigger issue are people that insist to play every match the same way regardless of killer.
-
It's the 'only a 3-4k is skill' mentality pushed by some big streamers and other vocal people in the community.
They will make all sort of excuses for tunneling (*casually points at several posts above*) when all it is in the end is just 'if I don't get at least x kills in, i failed'.
It's usually the type of player who will gleefully stomp a team of new players and then mock them for being new.

Unnecessary. People who are in tournament are too busy honing their skill and playing well to be toxic. I say that despite DBD tournaments being a laughable concept to me.
Eh, seeing how many people point to tournaments to excuse their "tactics"...
Another way, eg, would be to look at the most toxic perks (well, those regarded as such) and well... make it for example that if a killer is afk noed and bloodwarden don't activate.
-
one way would be if official/semi-offical tournaments would start reducing points for scummy behaviour.
like:
'sure, basement bubba is a possible build, but it's still camping with added a-holishness, you get only a 5th of the points you'd have gotten'
or
'well, you tbagged and flashlighted a deathslinger at the gate while injured. he gets double points for that hook'
-
animation shorts or comics exploring the lore, especially of the killers
-
We ought to check if the LoL servers are down each time the OP's been posting
-
No.
Because it screws survivors over if the hatch has been active before any gate's open.
- someone has a key, opens hatch without making sure everyone can get out. killer closes hatch, starting egc.
- last survivor heads for gate, killer heads for hatch, closes it. survivor starts opening the gate, killer comes up, survivor goes to hide and isn't spotted.
in both these pretty common cases this change would screw survivors over. And killers can always unlock the gate themselves if the egc ain't active yet.
-
I think it's mandatory. like, websites KNOW people lie with these, but they HAVE to have them
-
@TAG said:
This sounds extremely arbitrary to me. Like, what is the goal here beyond curiosity's sake?
Many maps (or at least newer/new-ish ones) are build around the killer they came with. I think it started around Michael/Hag.
By checking if killers fare generally better on maps tailored to them or not it could make it easier to see how to better rework maps. What to add, what to remove entirely, where to put breakable walls (if any) and totem spawns.
They are apparently doing something similar already (with certain maps having a much higher chance to be picked), and I'd say this could provide additional helpful data
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
FIrst of all, back in the days you used to know which Killer you will face, because they used different Hooks for each Killer. There was a reason why this was removed.
Second, it is pretty boring IMO. Like, when you dont know who the Killer is, you have to be aware to not get grabbed by some Stealth-Killer, dont feed a Michael or be exposed by a Ghostface. But if you start on MacMillan, you will know it is a Trapper.
Third, I main Pig. I dont want to play on The Game every time. One of the most boring Maps to play on.
Eh, seeing how a lot of survivors unfortunately try to employ the ever same tactics regardless of the killer, I'd rather think it wouldn't make much a difference.
The main idea behind the suggestion is to see if there's a change in kill-rate on maps designed around the killer in question, or if that stays the same.
Of course, this could only happen after the map overhaul and potential maps for hitherto map-less killers
-
@Eleghost said:
i don't understand why people actually sit in the exit gate when that stuff happens. what is the point? just leave. It happens even in games where this doesn't happen.
Sometimes it's bloodpoints, I'm not entirely certain but I think you get a little more for 'late heals' or 'late escape' than for anything before that point. Not certain though, and iirc then it's not signifcantly much in any case.
Other times people want to annoy the killer. (it's hilarious, though, when you play deathslinger. They are STILL trying)
-
You want a price or something?
-
Blame, once again, big name streamers who act as if tunneling is legit and fair. especially when you are playing killers like bubba or pig.
They do that to 'entertain their audience' and unfortunately being a condescending prick sells.

@Gylfie said:
As someone who hasn't played the game for ~a month, I'm not following. Where can I find more about this?
Lore for Felix, Blight, Elodie and the Twins

The OPs post is bleeeegh, but the new Killer might be neat as a concept (a killer who is two in one), but gameplay wise, looking at both big name streamers, who seems to only test how easy 4ks are to achieve, and smaller streamers, who are just chaotic a lot of times (but they test what is possible)...
The Twins are (again, unfortunately) awesome on paper, not awesome in execution.
Honestly, that might be the biggest flaw in the game overall: lots of stuff that sounds great on paper, but in practice it falls flat cause the 'human' factor has been overlooked (apparently). Like, look how many killers are regarded as OP/without counter, who, when you look closer and see what was intended they should be pretty well balanced. it's however players exploiting mechanics that give them a bad impression.
Same with perks: on paper OoO, DS, Noed, etc are perfectly fine. In practice they are easily exploitable.
And the Twins share the same fate: Good idea, bad execution.
Like, if the devs would go and eg have it that Victor would DOWN a survivor and immobilize them when downed unless he's pried off before that, (with the possibility to either switch back to charlotte in the meantime (weakening victor slightly) or staying on victor (allowing survs to sneak up to charlotte and distract her, immediately prying victor off/killing him if it succeeds (skillcheck for example?) ) it'd be much more powerful and still decently fair, but people would cry bloody murder.

You could have also just written that instead of symbols... and its all in post not sure how you're not able to figure it out but to summarize again trash teamates at rank 1 yet I de pip for being tunneled even though I maxed out boldness it's as summarized as it can be I hope u understand now.

I'd assume upset since if the killer is chasing one person for 6 minutes all 5 gens can be done and the exit gates opened.
guessed so but wasn't certain.
Guess OP had the displeasure of running into a swf that wanted to get the killer to dc by doing nothing, and were unwilling at all costs to change their plan. you have that mindset a lot on red ranks

-
good for you O_ó

if you can make a custom match, use that to get a sense for distances etc. I still see a lot of survivors turn 180 if a blink is 'annoucned' to run 'through' the blink, so try to get a good judgement for that. (it's been ages since I've been playing nurse, but I think this still applies)
-
@nytkim said:
Considering most maps are unbalanced around loops, killers like Wraith and Trapper will be basically useless with this mechanic gone. On the other hand, we will see more and more of Spirit, Freddy, Pyramid Head and Deathslinger.
Which killers do you think are affected the most and that will never be played again?
I think we'll still see all killers, but the gameplay will change a little. Like, people who played wraith and trapper as an m1 killer might migate to others, but those that will stay will maybe start using the killer's abilities to better effect.
so, we might actually start seeing more sneaky traps with trapper instead of the currently common vault and pallet ones, e.g.
-
Personal issue with indoor maps is more two things:
- i have no sense of orientation
- multi-story maps like midwich or gideon are a mess when it comes to the sounds. please, if we can dampen sounds when there's a stack of tires between the camera and the gen/totem being worked on, it should be possible to dampen the TR if the killer is below/above us)
-
I agree broadly.
Victor should act like a sorta 'deep wound'/'mangled' thing as in he slows you down significantly AND if you don't get him off you'll drop down. Hell, have him drag a downed surv towards charlotte.
Seriously, the prospect of getting hooked/pseudo-morid instantly seems to be the only thing in this game to get some survivors to change their MO (see people only getting RTBs off when they want to leave)

no, i think there is a certain point where it goes from 'yeah, they're slugging but it's still normal gameplay' to 'holding the game hostage'

Have you ever seen a baby? I got 2 children, age 6 and soon 2 years old, and none of them looked even remotly like Victor.
Because Victor doesn´t look like a baby. Just a small body doesn´t make you a baby.
It's however the first thing people will identify him as upon seeing him.
Also, for everyone pointing at the lore: Keep in mind this is the same fandom that once had people wonder what the Killers' names and nationalities are, leading to the quote 'if you headcanon [huntress] as russian, you should do more research on russian names. 'anna' isn't a russian name'...
-
you know... there would have been dozens of ways to preserve the mechanic and the core of the backstory without having victor appear like a baby.
-
Well, the problem is honestly that high ranks have this mentality to get the match done as fast as possible.
Served them right to get their butts kicked for acting as if they have a high quota to meet instead of doing bones.
-
I'd say keep bloodlust, but make it dynamic.
Like, if you have maps like Autohaven or Ormond, rework or not, have it there and kick in faster.
If you have maps like Glenvale or Lery's, disable it or make it kick in slower.
Also look at what killer one's playing. Personally I don't think killers like Doctor or Oni or Trapper actually need it, but others do.
-
bhvr messed this one up big time.
I mean, let me put it like this:
If in real life the remains of a child are recovered, let's say a child that had gone missing 10 years prior. It is clear from the remain the child died shortly after going missing. Which date would be put on its headstone as deathdate, and thus age? The approximate date/the year when it likely died or the date when the remains were recovered?
-
Said it in the thread you are prolly referring to:
Bubba has, like Spirit, Pig or Freddy an ability that is very easily exploitable and encourages and rewards playing scummy. It's not on the character, it's on *gestures at this thread* entitled brats that couldn't play fair-ish or skilled if their life would depend on it.
-
Once again, because many of you don't seem to have reading comprehension:
We are not talking about 'grouping up' on purpose. we are simply talking about these:
- trying to unhook someone
- trying to heal someone
- accidentally running past someone
If you try to tell me to 'git gud', question:
- so, unhooking is out of the question now? someone gets downed, forget them?
- So leave people that don't have self-care in a state to get knocked down again anyway, if they somehow haven't gotten downed and/or hooked?
- so, just stand still and let bubba knock you down and hook you?
In short, you are equally 'being a good survivor against bubba' with 'throw the game'?
wow.
-
@Ace_Ventura said:
Complaining about Bubba. Oh what a wacky world we live in. First COVID, now this. The "Bubba is OP" epidemic.
Not OP, but having a very, very easily exploitable power (similar to pig, freddy or spirit)
-
Blame big name streamers. They got the bee in people's bonnets that a game you don't win is a game wasted.
-
Apparently an entry in the current tome confirms that not all memories we got are from the timeline the survivors/killers have been taken from

I like the chase on both sides. Fun is subjective my friend. Neither opinion is wrong, they're just preferences.
Yeah. But if you look at people's reasoning to call for deathslinger's complete removal from the game, they haven't gotten that news yte

Doesn't change the fact that if he sees you, you go down.
And half the excitement of the match, the chase, is eliminated.
chases are annoying. if you take fun out of them, be my guest. but this mindset 'chases are the only fun thing and the only way to play the game' is getting old.

First I am not condoning DCing it's BS. You ready up, finish the game.
But what style tactic do you want changed? Survivor has basically 2 modes. Do gens and loop.
Do you prefer the gen rush style of play?
If DS sees you, you go down. So , what would you suggest?
Stealth. I know people hate it, but against Deathslinger to main counterplay is stealth and breaking LoS, and maybe going in pairs. Just like the best-ish tactic against pig is 99ing gens and only popping them when no one has a RTB on. Or crouching against Hag's trap. Or forgetting your teammates exist against bubba

This, tbh. The only reason why they might be intentionally DCing to stop the game, is if it's a mori.
I don't believe for a second that people DC so much for slinger. I've literally never witnessed it happen, and I and people I play with despise him. When I've played him for dailies etc, no one has DC'd either.
Eh, had it plenty of times people would dc the moment they knew it's caleb.
Feel free to test it. play 100 games as slinger and tell us the results.

Poe's law is an adage of Internet culture stating that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, it is impossible to create a parody of extreme views so obviously exaggerated that it cannot be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied
I feel like the last bit of my post pretty much made the intent of satire clear.

You're lying. DBD has DC penalties. Nobody is DCing cause DC penalties stop people from DCing.
@Peanits @not_Queen come tell this guy how wrong he is. Nobody DC's anymore with DC penalties, no matter how little of a change we have seen in frequency of DCs.
Where Have you BEEN, mate.
People don't care about the dc penalty against Deathslinger, because they can't loop him. They'll rather take the penalty than change their stale tactic for a single match.
To the OP: good luck with the daily, hope you find some survs that aren't entitled cowards
