No. Look, this is a game where so many people are having a competition about who can be the biggest douchecanoe. voicechat would be a disaster, no matter what.
You already have a lot of brats that will be scummy for the sake of it, imagine them being able to talk to others.
So, no.
-
Uninstalling is a bit excessive, but then again... seeing how many fogwhisperers are encouraging being hypertoxic on either side... maybe it's for the better. Hope you'll find a game that's not rotting from the inside
The community is destroying itself because of some little selfish douchebags with a bloated ego, and the devs do nothing.

have we the devs' word that there is a toolbox in midwich and that the one on the watertower can be released?

'doctor, clown and deathslinger would be good friends'
would you... kindly read up on Deathslinger's lore? Doctor and Clown are exactly the kind of people he'd despise. Abusers, Bullies and worse. People who put themselves above others and abuse and exploit others for their own gain and enjoyment.

I really hate the idea of a cult of the entity i hate the idea of people who are aware of the entity that just makes the lore less interesting i hope we don't get the rest of pariahs
y'know, having people be aware of the entity (like the observer) isn't that bad. It's that we now got 4 (5 technically) active character who have a direct connection.
With Kate it worked, because it had more of a 'something about her drew the entity's interest and she narrowly escaped the first time round'. but Felix, Elodie, blight and the twins? they have actively done things to draw the entity's attention and have meddled with people aware of the bloody thing as a central part of their stories, if not the very, very core.
That is what takes away from things. There's nothing wrong had these characters stumbled over the cult, but it's the active element to it and their roles in the game.

whether its stale meta combos on killer or survivor side, the problem is that so many players are so obsessed with 'winning':
You play killer? if you don't manage a 4k in under 3 min you are playing wrong and are a waste of oxygen.
You play survivor? if you do anything but genrush, loop, and bully the killer, etc you are playing wrong and are a waste of oxygen.
Like, what is wrong with people?

Oh, standing just the right distance away from a locker so Head On won't work is also hacking apparently.

Going for 12 legit, separate chases without tunneling/camping/slugging is not the most effective way to win the game and thus doesn't give you the feel of control since all 4 survivors will be alive at 1 remaining gen even if you get every single down quickly.
That's why killers camp, tunnel, slug, 3-gen etc.
Being in control of something reduces stress. Less stress = more fun.
Therefore tunneling someone out of the match early = getting control over the match quickly = less stress while playing the match = more fun.
It's not fun for survivors but I understand why killers be like that.
naw, not fun. Cause the way some people talk about this and defend such tactics always makes me wonder if they are FORCED somehow to get 4ks in every match...
like, are they in some saw-style contraption that will hurt/kill them if they don't play scummy?

Wrath - Oni. This is easy.
Gluttony - Clown. Fat boi.
Lust - Freddy, (he is a child molester) and Pyramidhead (he also represents lust of 2-d Silient hill protagonist)
Envy - probably Hillbilly. I imagine how he was envy towards children with normal parents.
Pride - Deathslinger. Literally goes for rampage cuz his pride got hurt.
Greed - Legion. They stealed stuff from Ormond's stores and kept in ski resort for themselves.
Sloth - Hard one. I'll put Pig here, cuz she uses RBT for killing, instead of kiling survs by herself.
Deathslinger's not 'pride'. He's wrath. Oni is Pride:
Caleb's been the target of bullying since childhood. Then Bayshore stole his inventions, selling them as his own. There is a chance that Caleb even entrusted Bayshore with handling the patent filing for him, as Caleb probably couldn't read nor write at that point.
Kazan went on a rampage because he thought himself above everyone else and wanted to see things work the way he deems best and right. He went out to brutally kill people because they didn't 'know their place' (according to his views) and then killed people for not acknowledging what great work he does forcing his ideas on them, bei it that they feared him, mocked him or in general didn't praise him.
-
Slugging is a bloody common 'tactic' on red ranks, to the point that I think these people are in some saw-style trap that'll drive spikes into their throats or something if they don'T get a 4k in under 5 min or something.
Red Ranks.... say banana if you're life *is* in danger should you play non-scummy...

You still need to look around, something very few people manage

Now, the question is, what did the devs mean with 'true invisibility':
Removing the distortion in the air when he moves or disabling spine chill.
Because if it is the latter... oh boy...

We're all hoping for the former, and I trust the devs know they literally just have to do the same thing they did with heterosexual characters, but swapping a pronoun or two.
Or simply a confirmation which already existing characters had what relationships etc.
And I mean, even the second can work... look at Bat Woman, iirc. Her being lesbian was essential to what path her life took, but not the sole thing defining her.

False Memory seems to be the overarching term for things like this, but there is a specific thing for this. The Mandela effect is more 'mistaking/taking faulty information for the fact' (eg if someone would start believing characters/ideas from fandom famous fanworks are canon) whereas this seems to be more 'mistaken unreal information (having dreamed about something e.g.) for real info'.
I know things like Candle Cove (well, what happens in the creepy pasta) are related to this.

I fail to see how these killers are exploitable, Bubba is the closest to that but even then there are options even if it does suck at times
Any kind of counterplay you can apply to them is disadvantageuous to the survivor players. good counterplay should not do that. not in the sense that a counter gives survivors a clear win, but in the sense that it doesn't spike their chance of losing.
E.G. Disarming trapper's traps let's him know you did that (don't remember if he only gets an audio cue or an explosion too, been a while), revealing you, but it also forces him to go and reset the trap (even with the addon that resets trap automatically)
The above killers have counterplay on paper, but none that would be, well, balanced.
When people on here genuinely suggest to just give up on anyone hooked against bubba and just genrush and hope they'll buy you time by not hooksuiciding... then something is wrong if that has become the wide 'accepted' way to play when vs bubba.
When people do the same approach against Pig, again, something's gone sideways.
You say waking up against Freddy isn't mandatory in the other post. Sure, it isn't, but then you have to deal with the aforementioned set-backs: Oblivious, snares, dream pallets etc.
-
The thing with Freddy is that there isn't any counterplay that wouldn't be disadvantageous to the survivors in some way. The high killrate has nothing to do with DCs or hook-suids, but more with that:
- Survivors will fall asleep automatically, getting a disadvantage in the form of Oblivious, dream pallets and snares
- Waking up through another survivor takes longer and longer, keeping people 'locked' in one place.
- Waking up through missing skill-checks gives away one's position and regresses gens/uses up med-kits etc
- Waking up through the alarmclock keeps you away from gens/totems and leaves you rather out in the open
Add to that that Freddy can teleport willy-nilly (or pretty much so), and all this without any addons taken into account. you have Killer that is very easily exploitable, and that's an issue he shares with Bubba, pig and spirit.
The concepts of them are fine, but once you add scummy brats into the equation...
Thus, the best changes to any of these killers would be changes that take away how easy their abilities are exploitable, scaring brats off of them. If the devs can pull that off both sides would have more 'fun' playing with/against these killers.
-
This one needs more testing though:
When playing against any killer with traps (trapper, hag, freddy) Small Game might not activate for totems if a trap is active/nearby
-
A lot of people have made a lot of good suggestions for new modes etc, and each time people like icey come along and smack things down out of fear they'd have to allow people to actually have fun.
-
Y'know, we should maybe start a hashtag to get investors to see how unhappy we are with the state of the game...
I mean, I love the lore and I've met some of my best friends through DbD, but even though I don't play long, seeing bug-infested patch after bug-infested patch, all while the devs go on stream saying they won't do a health patch... (two or three dev streams ago) is... well, gotta go for where it hurts.
I propose #DeniedByDaylight ?

No, I'm not mocking you. I hide, evade, and sneak. I've never gotten below Rank-6 as a Survivor so far (so I have no idea if I've peaked until I learn to loop better). But what I can (and will) say is that you can beat most Killers simply by not letting them see you. My standard build is Iron Will, Calm Spirit, Spine Chill, and Self Heal. I support my team, but I tend to do it by not getting caught. Looping, for me at least, is a bad idea. Running around in a chase is what I do when a plan has gone WRONG.
I'll take your word for it. Cause Heaven knows what I had to endure when I said stealth is counterplay...
-
@Moundshroud said:
Or you can do it my way and evade, evade, evade (because I'm a terrible looper) and only get in chases when the first plan falls apart. I consider it a good game when I barely see the Killer.
dunno if you're mocking me or if you mean it, but if it's the latter:
As said, the above is what people say is the proper counterplay to the killers in question, even if the killer's mechanic calls for evasion.
If it's the former: screw you.

Or get people to add more variety to their game.

The only real issue with Huntress's fridges - sorry, sorry, I mean "hatchets" is that they hit you from nearly a metre away from your body model. As Jeff.
Other than that, playing against a Huntress is pretty fair. She doesn't instantly pull out a hatchet and fling at max speed, she has a map-wide audio cue when a hatchet is fully charged, she doesn't have random stealth potential, and that basically means you can actually play tiles. And she really doesn't gain any distance on you if you're juking properly.
Huntress' hatchets have a spherical hitbox, Deathslinger's spear is very much a hitDOT. So, yeah, Anna's playing extreme dodgeball with you.

So you think bubba's power is facecamping? How on earth are you playing bubba?
Just because someone plays scummy with a killer doesn't mean thats that kilelrs playstle, thats the players playstyle. You must hate hag and freddy then because they have facecamping benefits.
Go watch some actual decent bubba mains out there and find out exactly just how many times they facecamp people.
Bubba has a power that directly encourages and rewards camping. Made a thread recently about how the mechanics that can bring down several survivors in one attack is too easily exploitable, and a lot of bubba mains/fans came up saying 'his counterplay is not standing together, and if someone does get hooked just do gens'
AkA people outright admitted that if someone gets knocked down and hooked you might as well forget about them and hope they don't hasten their demise on hook to give the rest of you time to do gens. because if you go in for the safe, you're likely screwed, cause in many cases bubba will be nearby, and his chainsaw attack is faster than your unhooking, even when he's waiting out of kindred's range.
Yet people say that is all 'fair play' and how bubba is played according to people who main him. Congratulations on being someone who plays him different, but you are a minority there.
But you know, this is the core problem:
All the issues with bubba and deathslinger come from people who are so obsessed with the 32kBP 4k matches that they'll play as scummy as possible and call it 'skill'.
It's the basement bubbas and M&A slingers, all the fake-afk noed-bloodwarden builds etc that show that unless you make changes to the entire game mechanics that put an end to this kind of stuff facing certain killers will rarely be fun.
So, one thing for Deathslinger would be more dynamic maps, like, more obstacle and less open areas etc, but not changing his ability.

bubba involves giving up? Bubba has some of the best interactivity in teh game when they don't facecamp. Good balacne of being able to do well in chase but also counterable.
Also "outwitting the killer" sounds like cop out talk for genrushing.
'when they don't facecamp' is like saying 'if huntress doesn't throw hatchets' and you know that. Are you... are you actually playing the game? Because I am starting to have severe doubts about that.

That's the problem with him. His design is awful. A killer who is oppressive and unbeatable in chases but gets stomped gen and map pressure wise. You look at the fun to vs/play and strong killers and you will find that whilst they have some form of an antiloop, it's no where near as oppressive and is often combined with some sort of map pressure.
I've literally given a suggestion which completely changes him and makes him more different than he his now.
I don't nescaserily want him removed because i think his lore is somewhat cool and the character himself, but his desing is awful.
And you STILL havn't told me what you find fun about this game other than interactivity.
I did tell you:
outwitting the killer, and that has a lot to do with adjusting to their skills. With caleb it's being sneaky, with pig it's popping all the gens almost at once after she ran out of traps while you 99d all the gens.
this is why bubba and freddy genuinely aren't fun, as their 'counterplay' boils down to 'giving up' how are they more 'fun' than caleb?

Blocking the chain almost never works. You get chained and its almost always a down or hit unless there was a good pallet thrown. They may as well just remove it and make the gun do damange its just tedious for both sides.
Interactivity as a whole yes. Chases consists of the vast majority of interactivity however. Sure doesn't need to be a good or easy chase just a fair chase is what i care about.
removing the chain would, as stated, make him a cheap-knockoff huntress, and you might as well remove him entirely then. At least have the guts to outright state you want him removed.
I don't get how people fail and fail and fail to understand that cutting chases short is the one strength he has. He has little mobility and smaller map pressure, even with the dreadful ruin/undying combo. yet so many call for removing everything that makes him unique if not his entire removal. and that is when they don't outright utter deaththreats to people who like him for any reason. All because they try the same MO on all killers.

Chasing aren't boring. They are dynamic and change up everytime and with most killers and most loops/maps allow the better player to come on top. It's the only part of the game which actually requires a decent skill set and knowledge. If you don't find chases and interactivity fun, then what do you find fun? Holding m1 on a gen?
Look i don't excuse ppl on either side for playing incredibly boring and scummy. I'll call out survivors who hold w, just run to busted main building on badham and refuse interactivity as well. It's not just killers who get called out on it for. It's just that killers playing this way affects the whole match for everyone, where as 1 survivor doing it well you can always rotate if worst comes to worst. Don't get me wrong tho i dont' excuse anyone no matter if they r killer or survivor.
I'm going to say it again because you seem to be avoiding it, what do you find fun in this game if not interactivity?
Interactivity or just chases that consist of looping and juking and nothing more?
Because looking at what people say I thing they confuse the former with the latter.
Deathslinger is a killer that's meant to shine when it comes to nifty trickshots, the issue is more that many people don't bother to learn what he can shoot through/over on either side. If you want chases with him, forget about loops, find the bits he can shoot through/over and use it against him.
Similar, as his main strength is the reeling, another tactic is going in groups, so one person can step into the chain. this is something I see often in lower ranks who are not yet screwed over by the 'only loopy-jukey chases are fun' mentality.
Honestly, the only real change he needs is a clearer way to struggle against the chain as survivor.
And as edited in above:
How would your proposed changes make him more 'interactive'? You'd turn him into a stationary slugging sniper by all means or a plain m1 killer with nothing special about him ever because the slower projectile travel time would not allow for sniping AND he'd rely 100% on bloodlust cause you made him as fast/slower than the survivors. So it'd be either no interactivity at all with no chance of any kills for the killer player, or unwinnable chases with no chance of any kill.
Also how exactly would your idea change anything about the stealth as counter idea? how? if you have someone who can potentially stay at one point of the map and kill you if there's a LoS you will move behind obstacles, won't you? So why is that not an option without taking away what makes Slinger unique?
-
@Withered8 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1781135#Comment_1781135
How does the idea i've suggested allow you to use the same tactics as other killers agaisnt him? Infact it does the literal OPPOSITE.
So you're ok with a killer who's desinged around avoiding interactions? That's where the fun comes from in both sides of this game. Interecting with the other side. No-one plays the game to kick gens, do gens, escape or carry survivors to a hook where you press spacebar, people play because of the interactions with eachother, whether it be chases, meming around, trying to juke or outplay the other side or just messing around. Deathsligner denies all of these. No-one wants to play gen simulator and likewise no-one playing killer wants to be genrushed, his only counter. And if you try to tell me he has some other sort of counterplay, show me. Go on. And don't show some rank 20 deathslinger missing all his shots or something. An actual good deathslinger.
And how exactly do you break line of sight with a killer who walks faster than you? At some point they are going to get LOS its literally inevitable. That's why nurse is slower than survivors you know right?
You know the idea of 'there must be '''interactions'''' aka the same BORING chases over and over and over and over and over against every killer... how is that fun?
How is it fun that you DEMAND of people they MUST play like that against every killer? Look, I made a thread a while ago about the crap slinger mains who try (there's two types: complete wankers and loveable dorks, with no inbetween) to play well and fair, who get frigging deathrhreats for playing him because 'he's boring and no fun in chases'.
I wish I was kidding. I'm not. just search for 'deathslinger' on twitter, for example and look at what's going on there. ALL because people like you declare that only 'interactions aka chases' are 'fun'.
Also, your changes would make him genuinely boring to play.
He'd be a knockoff huntress without her speak or throwing arc.
Oh, 'give him towers to just snipe people' yeah, wow, so no hooks at all? cause by the time you went there someone will have picked someone up. That is if he don't go and slugs people in this scenario. Which with the slower projectile travel time would not even be possible. So practically your proposed changes would make him a no-win killer unless he plays really scummy
your suggested changes are a thinly veiled 'remove the entire character' that is what they are, and there's enough of that call already. Just leave the character and his players be and learn to stealth.

When survivors were pallet looping you came right here againt crying that it's not a chase game.
But now you say that it's a hide & seek game.
Bunch of low IQ really... If you think there is counter play with those killers while it's 4k in almost every game (many high skilled killer mains admitted it) then you are trash.
I have played killer, against red rank with demogorgon, PH and GS, was getting 3k+ 80% of the time against red rank while i just have 20 to 30 hours as a killer.
Only counterplay working was SWF gen rushing. No gen rush it was an easy win for me.
Well, you're certainly not in the 'funny' category of that statement.
Counterplay varies from killer to killer, one would think that's obvious, but nice attempt at oversimpification and false equivalents, what's next? strawmanning?

Literally negates half of the loops in the game. Like what are you meant to do on any azarovs loop apart from pull the pallet instantly?
I think he should be reworked to be more of an area control and sniper killer, so you actually have to be good with landing shots and don't get carried by the insane amount of passive effects he has.
To do this I would:
Make him nurse movement speed or the same as survivors.
Give him a scope and infinite range.
Slow down spear travel speed and add a laser point on an aimed target.
Make his terror radius bigger so you can't stealth up on ppl, ranged stealth killers is just busted.
Remove the whole chain and reel in effect and make the gun just do damage as normal, reeling in sucks for both sides and is a huge time waster.
Maybe add like a few towers which spawn randomly across the map which he can climb up and snipe out off, idk how that would work on alot of maps tho.
Basically make vsing him and playing him more dynamic and enjoyable as well as reward killers with genuinely good aim.
I dunno if you are serious or not, cause Hell knows so many people are serious when they suggest exactly this when it comes to Caleb.
And it's such bloody nonsense. Cause y'know, stop trying to apply the SAME TACTICS to EVERY KILLER especially if their mechanics call for a change of plan?
Seriously, you people try to force the same stale gameplay (looping and juking) on EVERY KILLER and get your panties in a twist when it doesn't work out.
Deathslinger is NOT meant to be engaged unless it's ABOLSUTELY unavoidable.
Just like you should break LoS against GF or Michael, but instead you run from them through the open fields and wonder why you get exposed and T3 pops.
