That's not old Spine Chill then; that's just the new Spine Chill
yeah, but new one is line of sight, old one isn't, so it'll no longer work with stealth killers regardless of new or old change

I'll only agree to old Spine Chill as long as it no longer works with stealth killers

Id be really nice if they could find a way to at least include some weights to make a well-played loss "less loss" and an easy win "less win" to account for how things go - because I feel in a similar way that when survivors give up within the first hook and all just want to die and move on that I feel a bit of back-of-the-mind frustration that they're boosting me and I'm not even getting that much BP out of it.
That said, in the past they've said they've experimented with more complex models and didn't enjoy the results. I know they've mentioned the need to avoid "MMR inflation" where there are scenarios that the MMR system could consider everyone a winner - and I assume by extension that'd also mean not letting survivors treat a loss as a win (by dying but seeing their MMR improve or even just be unaffected)
So I don't really know how to weigh in beyond that.
Yeah I get where they are coming from, but base it on emblems them, make gold and iridescent as wins, silver and bronze as loss, obviously it'd be more complex than this, but solo queue is a nightmare by itself, the only way to prevent your MMR from tanking more is by SWF. But if you're a SWF, depending on the type of person the killer is, cuz I've met some who don't care if the players are SWF or not, they'll make the survivors lives absolute hell.
Plus, solo queue players, most likely don't wanna result to have to play in a SWF just so they aren't screwed over by the current MMR system.

That sounds like a summary of the past week of dbd, for me.
Not looking forward to worse solo queue games with the new patch, what build do you run for solo btw, I do Kindred, BT, IW, and Adrenaline
-
Just knowing I wasn't toxic and I was a good teammate is a W for me. I hate ending up with a feeling that I wasn't useful to my team since I'm not really good when it comes to looping killers, I'm better at being a gen jockey or healer. I am practicing looping Killers better though, that way I can provide more use to my team, the longest I've looped was a gen, and a second one popped as the killer was going to hook me.
-
getting as many survivors as I can to prestige three before the update, because of the fact that the new backgrounds it's going to look ugly if my survivors are just randomly spaced out

If every killer was at the same level in terms of power and mobility, they could actually balance the rest of the game including maps. I've been saying this for ages.
I think Trapper needs a mini bike to ride on.
I'll agree to the mini bike on one condition, there's a little wagon attached to the back, one of those wagons that almost everyone had as a kid, and the Survivor gets carried in the wagon instead of on Trapper's shoulder
-
Ikr! I was playing solo queue last night, that way I could finish getting my bill to prestige 3 before the new update, and I did 3 gens, was unhooking everyone, and helping to heal my teammates when I wasn't working on a generator, and I was elected to die on first hook because the other two teammates that were still alive were too scared to get me. Killer didn't have NOED or anything.
Don't even get me started on the teammate the disconnected when they were dead on hook, instead of just letting themselves die and still getting blood points, instead they wasted my time going all the way across the map to unhook them (this was when they were on second hook) and proceeded to go down within 15 seconds of me and hooking them (killer waited out BT).
Can't imagine how solo queue is going to be after this new patch, don't get me wrong, the BT being base kit is nice, but just playing solo queue now is a pain, because no one wants to go for anyone, even if you have kindred, that's not going to help you, I learned that the hard way.
-
Keep running NOED then, why should killers receive basekit NOED (even if it's a toned down version) to reward bad gameplay, that was the reason so many killers hated DH and now it's getting nerfed. You're not gonna win every match just like how survivors won't escape every match. Killers are recieving base-kit STBFL and Brutal to help against survivors and gen times are being increased (barely though unfortunately) to make up for nerfed gen regression perks.
Tunneling and camping are also gonna be a viable strategy no matter how annoying they are to use/play against because several survivor meta perks (including the ones to counteract tunneling) are being nerfed, with one being buffed. Killers are gonna be doing great after this update, because they're buffing Killers due to survivors receiving quite a few buffs during the previous updates. Take it as is right now, but don't say "survivors are getting a huge buff" this game isn't supposed to be easy mode on either side, they're actually trying to make the killers more scary against the survivors with the buffs, and good on them.
Toned down shadowborn I don't mind being bass kit on the weaker killers, that's no problem to me, but you don't deserve a free kill for your bad gameplay, if you want a free kill, run NOED.

Least Favorite: Pinhead, most of the Pinhead players I go against are ######### like someone pissed in their cereal. Legion, forever Legions make me wanna just gen-rush and leave.
Favorite: Ghostface, it's a 50/50 whether or not the player is toxic, or just playing normally, but his mori is cool, so toxic or not, they get a pass. Also Nurse, when I face a good Nurse player, it gets my heart pumping cuz I can't juke her out like a Nurse player who just picked her up.
-
I made a post on this a while back, but this was an accident on my part, I was slugged on the ground, and I was going to try and get the killer to open a locker instead of picking me up, and just keep them opening the locker, well it just so happened that the locker I crawled to had one of my teammates in it
sorry bro (it wasn't a Dwight)

I personally don't care for the rewards, I would've been happy with iridescent shards, or auric cells, they're not exclusive cuz they can be earned/paid for and the reward feels worthwhile over bloodpoints

If you think Overcharge and call of brine are broken you don't understand game mechanics.
Gens only regress if kicked and no one repairs it. If you think standing beside 1 or 2 gens will win a match you are not paying attention.
Dowsey is a bhvr shill who tried to claim "regression meta" but its on the joke server, where everyone gives up.
Okay picture this scenario, you finally get downed, your teammates are across map doing their gens and you get hooked, the gen you had been working on gets hooked and boom. That gen that was 80% now at 0%
It may not be an issue for SWF but Solo-queue is going to be a nightmare. Not only that, 3 genning will also be terrible because it makes it nearly impossible for the gen to be worked on. You called those three entitled survivor mains, but this entire post is just that. You being an entitled killed main and wanting easier chase with the insanity meter.
Both sides have broken perk combos in the PTB, but both sets of combos will probably be altered before it goes live, the best thing you can do it wait and see.
-
@Lyonic said:
Survivor main alert...
You are literally adding something (sanity meter) because why? You want and easier chase, but yes OTR, BT, DH combo is broken. But let's address Overcharge, Call of Brine, and Eruption then, also broken especially with base-kit Brutal Strength.
Guess what, learn to address the problems on your side before going after the other

I have Misophonia and the woman screaming and moaning causes me to have a panic attack so yes, I can definitely say that I hate playing against The Dredge. Remove the nightfall sounds and he's a treat to play against, except they're not going to remove the most likely, so I have to rely on my friends talking over the game audio anytime we go in nightfall. And since soloq doesn't allow me to do that, I have to blast music in my ears over my game audio to not hear it.
If it only did like one scream, and just the echo the moaning here and there, I'd have no problem, but because it's repetitively it gets to me.

VHS gets a lot of things right. For one every hit matters as it lowers your health. You knock the player down and that's the end of it. You can't be pallet stunned or blinded and lose the chase.
Imagine for example with DBD if it took 50% longer to heal every time you got injured. The 4th time you heal is going to take an eternity. Medkits will run out super fast and you can't ignore being hit by the killer anymore.
VHS doesn't require the teens to make a mistake - if you play killer well you get downs. That only happens in DBD with Nurse and sometimes Blight.
that may be true, but you even have to admit that it is a little bit busted when brand new Killers get faced against the high level teens
I will admit I haven't experienced anything firsthand just yet because I'm still waiting on an email to be accepted into the beta hopefully, I am worried though, because I am scared that the game might turn into the new DBD where it's just "us vs. them" in all honesty I just want a game where everyone can have fun
FT13th is it good example of this, because anytime I play the game it's really fun matches, everyone is really respectful to one another, although once in awhile you do get a group that teams up and won't kill each other when they are Jason
I hope VHS is like that once it is no longer beta and it's open for everyone, it has a lot of potential that I can't wait to see. We can hope for the best good luck and I hope to see you in the fog

For memes, a classic - No mither, Self-Care, Overcome, and another exhaustion perk of choice
Wanna still help your team, but screw around a bit? No Mither or For the People, This is not happening, Resilience, and Desperate Measures
Easy build for new players - Spine Chill, Kindred, Dark Sense, and one of the teachables of the survivor they are playing
My personal build is made for being in chase with the killer if you wanna do something besides hold M1 - Iron Will, Dance with me, Borrowed Time, and Lithe (BT is so I can still get saves without farming my teammates)
These are just a few of the builds I came up with on the spot, I use the first two, as well as my chase build, the third one is more for solo queue new players, but it still works for new players if they don't have a group

The game game design is : 4 players have fun and 1 player suffers. This makes the most money; it wont keep working when VHS and Ghostbusters come out.
I don't think VHS so much, because from some of the gameplay I've seen, matchmaking is more skewed than DBD, as well as the factor of it's just teens bullying supernatural creatures and killing them, so basically current state of dead by daylight but the teenagers can actually kill the Killer
Ghostbusters works, I still play Friday the 13th, and I haven't tried out the Evil Dead game

Going for multiple people only works against players that aren't good... that's the fact. A good SWF can literally run circles and crack gens like it's nothing against even the best killers. I literally watch some of the best killer players on a consistent basis start the game by not tunneling then eventually get widdled down into a "Where's this Nea I need to tunnel her out" mess. It's happens all the time lmfao
Okay but that doesn't mean make NOED and Corrupt base kit, you want free perks without using a perk slot and you justify tunneling cuz you clearly can't win without it. You refuse to acknowledge that there's other ways to win without tunneling, a good SWF will get stomped by a good Oni with pressure and also not every good group of survivors is a SWF.
There are amazing groups of solo-queue who can also stomp a good killer and vice versa. Survivors are given perks to defend against tunneling and camping, so they aren't gonna buff tunneling and camping even more after this update was a huge "Screw you" to solo queue players.
A lot of matches are also map based, The Game can make a good win for survivors because of the loops, Shelter Woods is amazing for killers due to the amount of dead zones. You get mad cuz the survivor can make it to a loop even though that's the point of the loop, to extend the ability for the survivor to survive, it's not meant to be easy or for the killer to get a 4k every time. A 2k is considered a draw, and 3k is a win. You won't win every time, just like how I won't win every time, not every SWF squad is a swat team to ruin your day, they're probably casual gaming which is what DBD is for, it's not a tournament you're treating it like.
Edit: None of my statements apply to End Game tunneling but if you see one person and tunnel them with 5 or 4 gens left, that's when it applies
-
what do you mean, self care totally isn't going to ruin some matches with people in the corner ๐
-
Definitely situational, anytime I play against a deathslinger it really just depends on the amount of pressure they have throughout the match, the reasoning for this is because if you're being chased you're not going to get the time to mend, so even if your adrenaline pops it's not going to help you in the end as you'll only be healed from broken to injured. So it's only small situations like that where the ability was proved to be useful, but it can also deny survivors healing time sort of like Legion putting survivors in broken with his/her frenzy.
It's really just to slow down healing

But this is the same like it is now?
Sorry, I'm terrible with explaining, my point being pretty much, ear doesn't shards are more difficult to obtain the blood points, with the blood point reduction in place, it's going to be much easier to earn blood points hopefully if things go accordingly. So leave all the perks at final tier, and make them cost the normal 6000, I did the math for the four, and it would reduce the grind by half a million. Meanwhile, you earn roughly a few hundred iridescent shards each time you level up, now if they plan on adding on to that final amount, then I have no problem with it at all, but keep the added effect of once you buy the perk whether it's from the shrine of secrets or as a teachable on that Survivor/Killer it gets unlocked on everyone else.
Sorry if my explanation is wonky, again I am terrible with explaining things. I know the developers want people to prestige their characters, but the perks shouldn't be locked behind prestiging, because you still have to go through 50 different blood webs just to unlock the perk at one tier.
-
@dreamsy10 said:
It was fair to make a semi corrupt basekit, at least 30-40 seconds, since survivors have bt base + hope for 5 seconds.
Btw, for whoever say devs arent survivor biased ->
They removed the BP from BBQ and nothing else they added, but to We're gonna live forever, they removed the BP bonus but added the secondary effect. Fair i guess. :-)
Yeah the secondary effect being added is stupid, but I think the reason why they added the new secondary effect is because since there's no longer a bloodpoint bonus, the perk was made essentially useless, while BBQ gives Killers information still, in the end I do feel they should not have removed the blood point bonus from either perk and they both should have been left as is. They both helped to reduce the grind significantly on both sides, and since they're going for the biggest grind reduction in history they should have left the two perks that literally help with the grind alone.

Hence the part of make it a SWF only thing if BHVR if decides to start actually making SWF a sort of different experience because of how vastly different it is from solos.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3032202#Comment_3032202
To counter tunneling killers yes. And you know what the only viable playstyle is for killers to stay competitive? Because there's zero incentives / positives to going for multiple hooks on multiple people?
Tunneling... killing the only viable playstyle for killers to stay competitive doesn't make the game feel any better for killers.
There are more ways for Killers to play competitively without tunneling and/or camping, me and my friends have gotten stomped by Killers who didn't tunnel or camp, simply just because they were good with gen pressure, and outsmarting us, and I applaud them for that.
As long as the killer playing, knows what they're doing, and they can predict movements, they will completely stomp your team regardless of SWF or not, I've played against Trappers who will turn the game on somebody's head, simply because someone else made a bad play, and honestly good for them because I know Trapper is difficult to get the right pressure with.
So yes, tunneling and camping is viable strategy, but it's not the only strategy that you need to use to win.

Whats the difference to now? You just level them up via the Bloodweb like you do nowadays.
that is true, but I'm not worried about perks personally, because I already have all the perks (excluding Hattie's) on Mikaela, Feng, and Nea
I'm talking about the grind for iridescent shards is going to make it difficult for newer players if they're trying to get a specific perk if it's in the shrine of secrets
They could've just removed perk tiers, and that would have already reduced the grind quite a bit, but locking the perk away in the shrine of secrets is gonna make things difficult for the killers and survivors who can't buy certain characters with money, so essentially you just have to rely on luck that the perk you need is going to appear in the shrine of secrets

Survivors literally came out better with the changes. anyway. Also 5 seconds of BT is still easily enough time to get to any loop, hell 12 seconds is overkill with current BT hence why it's used so often. But I guess that was their option to make BT used less. Literally take a meta perk and then just... make it base kit. Because that makes so much sense! And buff the base perk as well along with it. But not like it matters much, no one ever needs to use BT again cause they have it by default.
Brutal basekit change does nothing as people still have plenty of time to get to other loops. Same with the STBFL. Like they're cool changes you will realize your kicking and melee recovery ARE faster in game, but it won't matter because survivors will still guaranteed make it safely to other loops and the chase will not have changed much from how it would have gone in the current patch.
BT being made basekit is to counter tunneling killers, as long as you're not tunneling it's not going to affect you at all, it's only going to affect you if you're tunneling. It's one of the few ways that survivors will be able to counteract that, not only that, DS stun time was shortened to 3 seconds and it take 1 second for the animation getting off the shoulder and so you're left with 2 to get away. Next up OTR only activates once during trial, eat the OTR and then you don't have to deal with it during EGC.
But that will not change the fact that I do think that BT shouldn't stack with base-kit BT
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Those are kept. But they will be Level 1, since you dont own the Character. You can just level them up via the Bloodweb.
You can also buy them again when they are in the shrine and have them at Level 2 on all your Characters.
that's going to be kind of stupid then, because that makes it to where perks are going to be locked behind a paywall since the same perks aren't going to continuously appear in the shrine of secrets, not only that's going to be really difficult for the people trying to earn iridescent shards
-
Bro, the basekit BT is 5 seconds that can easily be waited out by killer just like normal 12 second BT, not only that the distance survivors get when being hit is shortened as well. You guys have two perks now becoming basekit and gen times are being extended by 10 seconds making 90 seconds for each generator. It's fine where it's at, with the buffs killers are getting as well as the nerfs that both sides are recieving, solo queue is gonna tank. Killers don't need even more basekit things, and neither do survivors, your basekit STBFL and Brutal are gonna be better with the partial nerfs being received on survivor end (mostly for the people who use dh for distance, and again with the distance survivors get being shortened after being hit)
-

dead hard will still give a free pass close to pallet and will remain braindead
The main issue with Dead Hard was the distance, the change is fine now, albeit the dash animation is weird and should be removed now that there's no dash lol
But even if it is no skill, that distance has been removed and survivors can no longer greed pallets as much as before
Just be happy the perks got nerfed in the first place, because it's been broken for years now, and it's finally getting the change that is needed
-
@jesterkind said:
The devs confirmed on the stream earlier- it still has the two minute timer, it just also deactivates when someone's downed.
okay, thanks for clarification, I was worried lol
-
I'm guessing it's because boons take a hot second to place in the first place, as well as the fact that it takes the killer only 2 seconds to snuff a boon. Meanwhile the developers aren't going to implement an animation where the killer has to take 20 seconds to place their hex totem, and the survivor can just get rid of that hex totem in 2 seconds. It also put the survivor at risk if they decide to plus over a hex totem, because then the killer would know where that boon was, and the survivor gets their boon snuffed since the killer knows the placement.
This is just my take on it thou
