  • Will say, just had a really close game, played against Legion running Thana, Nurse's, and Infectious (forgot the fourth perk). All 5 gens were done, but both gates were on the same side of the map and both the Yui and I were injured.

  • Not me personally, but have seen killer get the 40k quite a bit

  • Someone clearly doesn't play solo-queue, solo-queue was promised a buff in January BEFORE a killer buff was put in play, cuz solo-queue is a nightmare where there's a higher chance to have you teammates run around like chickens with their head cut off and low chance to have good gen pressuring teammates. Not every survivor used DH as a crutch, this is the situation where so many (thankfully not all) killers thought every SWF team they played against was out to get them and destroy their family and relationships.

Guess what, there's far more solo-queue than SWFs, but guess what survivors got ######### over this update. SWF can hold their own but solo-queue is begging for scraps at this point. Not every SWF is a bully squad, how incompetent do you have to be to not get that through your thick skull. If the game affected you the point where you were having bad thoughts, you should take a break.

Like holy, this is entire situation is bull, I could care less about SWF, DH, ect. but when almost every match is a killer tunneling, camping, or slugging at 5 gens then no wonder survivors don't wanna play this game anymore. 5 second BT? Devs must really thought that was gonna do great against the people who already waited out 12 second BT, but sure.

I already saw a few posts talking about killer queue times being long, and they're just gonna keep getting longer.

I personally don't care if I win or lose, but don't come prancing around saying things like survivors just are upset cuz their precious DH is gone. OTR doesn't even compare to DS cuz both perks suck now. Buff after buff killers have received during these most recent updates. The best things survivors have gotten since last year was the mori nerf and boons, but only one of the boons is actually viable out of the 4.

these are not "killers" these are frustrated survivor mains who take out all their frustration and anger with Killer on other players since bhvr has taken away their bullying tools and since they are inexperienced as killers they use cheap tactics like tunneling&camping

How are tools like DS bullying the killer exactly? DS was literally one of the two tools to counter tunneling/camping as well as BT (not base-kit, that doesn't do #########). But DS was nerfed, not every survivor is out to make the killer's life hell and vice versa.

But the meta hasn't changed for killers, run all slowdowns or camp/tunnel, it's very rare I encounter ร  killer who just plays how they normally would without sweating their ass off the entire match. Don't get me wrong, I know for a fact that survivors can be little monsters, but killers can get just as bad sometimes.

  • Thing is, I don't think the BP incentive is going to bring people back, survivors were mainly leaving due to each game just being the same. The killer will either camp/tunnel or run a full slowdown build. Survivors got majority of their meta perks taken away right out from under them, and the only somewhat decent perk survivors have that got buffed was OTR.

In my personal experience, I just had back to back games of killers camping/tunneling. It's so stupid, I didn't even use DH other than challenges, and I never had to run DS, but now it feels like a requirement to run DS if you even want a slight chance of escaping even with the nerf.

OP has a point, though. The reward currently looks pretty bad if you only have it on a few characters - here's mine, for instance.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/B3BV4D45N52E/20220722102238-1.jpg

I've got a special reward on a lot of characters, and I'm extremely inclined to turn it off because it's going to look like That. Forever.

And even if you did get it on everyone, future characters are not going to be able to access the reward, so it's going to look choppy no matter what. While I don't agree that the same reward should be given for legacy and just levelling up, I think the backgrounds work much better as a level-up reward than a retired one (and that once again, legacy should have been something else.)

Yes, I do actually agree as well, but again, it's the only reward players got for getting characters to P3 cuz the devs didn't want people to feel excluded. But I don't see what difference that makes considering old legacy makes some people feel excluded (I'm sure you remember all the old threads of people asking for old legacy to be brought back). Unfortunately regardless of what happens devs probably will keep it the way it is, and the people who did go through the process won't have an exclusive reward anymore, even if other people can't see it.

If they did a different reward to compensate for the people who did got through the grind before reduction, then I'd have no problem with this being a prestige reward. I do understand where you both are coming from though.

  • The reward was meant as a "legacy" reward for the grind being massively reduced again like how old players got "legacy" skins. It'll feel like less of a reward to some of those players if it's just an unlock new ones can get after awhile. They can't even see it on other players, so they can't be jealous of it either unless they check the hours/prestige someone of a player.

  • The thing is, they promised to look into solo queue before buffing Killers for this exact reason. That's why I'm upset personally. I have no problem with killers recieving buffs, but solo queue players were promised balance that has yet to come. This is not me blaming killers for it, as it's not their fault, but the devs shouldn't have made a promise and get people's hopes up just to go back on that last second.

  • Camping at endgame is fine as it's understandable especially if things aren't going great, so that's a start. I don't play killer much, but when I do, even if it no longer provides BP bonus, it still gives good info regardless. Maybe run perks that encourage you to leave the hook more, SC:PR can still be a good indicator to find survivors too. Nurses Calling to find those pesky healers, ect. These are just a few minor suggestions.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I honestly think the devs are split on the issue and that's why we haven't seen anything for solo queue. It seems like some very influential devs insist that this is a survival horror experience and not a competitive pvp game.

I see no reason that Kindred shouldn't be basekit. If the killer is camping in a dumb situation, they should rightfully be burned. And survivors would still have to be smart about it if the killer is camping intelligently.

Action indicators would be awesome. Even a way to coordinate heals would be nice.

These aren't things that are going to break a good killer.

But I still think gen times need to be looked at. Solo or SWF, 15-20 minute games just aren't fun.

Yeah, I completely agree, but the devs need to realize that even if the game isn't a competitive pvp, it's not fun losing every match whether due to toxic players, bad teammates, ect. Hell I don't want to win every match cuz it's boring, I like having a split of winning and losing cuz it's more fun.

There are plenty of issues that need addressed and I get the devs are trying to keep the game fun for both sides, but that's why solo queue could be the start for this. Just small changes like an action indicator, speech wheel, ect. are enough to not make SWF destroy everything in their path, and could help survivors a bit.

  • My Feng Min is who I'm prestiging, she's Prestige 11 right now, slowly but surely getting there

Proximity chat would be a disaster in EU where people dont speak the same language.

That is true, that's why I liked the suggestion of someone else where they add a chat wheel or something like that, it'd help out quite a bit ^^

  • Real quick, only one reason I disagree with this and that's cuz sometimes the game will just randomly disconnect and say "no network connection" even though everything else is functioning fine, until they find a way to differentiate the two (actual disconnect or a game error) then the penalty does not need increased. Once they find a way for this, then yes, I'm all for increasing the penalty to 24 hours even.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/336107/solo-queue

There's a simple solution instead of chat. Emoticons. There are a few games where they work really well, the best one I can remember is gremlins inc. Basically throughout the game you unlock and get different emoticons. And then you assign them to like 1-9 or a wheel where you press ALT+right mouse and then you pick what you want the action to indicate. So they would have stuff like danger!, or SHHH! or Follow me! but in a face format. This type of communication would both be silent which would make it viable for this game, and also would prevent people from being able to swear. And as an added bonus for BHVR they could sell stylized emoticons in their store for actual currency. So it would be a win, win, win.

I like this idea, it would be fun while also adding some form of communication to the game that doesn't involve threats on other players ^^

You know, survivors always ignored reasonable points from killers as well. It is just the nature of the beast, and now that the tables are turned, you expect me to care about your petty grievances? Absolutely laughable. Especially knowing the devs will bend over backwards to make this right for you guys. You expect it over night when surely, by now, you know how their update schedule works...

I am not denying this, this has happened in the past, but this post is mainly to acknowledge solo queue, not the game as a whole, killers got their buffs and can now keep up with SWFs while solo-queue survivors were left in the dark. You ignored the point of this entire post. It's not "oh killer mains evil and scary, also OP nerf them to only M1" it was addressing solo-queue anf how some killers were grouping all survivors together thinking they're only mad because DH is gone.

This isn't a "us vs. them" thread, it's a thread addressing the problem with solo queue currently.

  • @Beatricks said:

If nothing else, this update has shown that Killer mains were not interested in having balanced matches, but easy matches. The shoe is on the other foot now, lets see how long that can last.

Yeah, winning as a SWF was unfun anyway which is why I swapped to Solo Queue only doing duos sometimes, although I lose in solo matches, it's not to bad, I like lower MMR anyway because no one is try harding it. So it's a 50/50 chance to win.

But killers kinda need some wins right now, but soon they'll get bored of always winning. Winning isn't always fun, first couple times, sure. But when every match is win after win, it just becomes bland.

  • @Babadook83 said:

the first option proxy chat is the nail in the coffin. toxicity would sky rocket to unseen hights. people dropping out before of it (even more than now). the other 2 options are very valid tho

That's why I mentioned in the post it definitely wouldn't be the best course of action due to this

Players are already a nightmare sometimes with hate messages after the match, so proximity chat wouldn't be good, unless they do something about the toxicity in the player base which unfortunately can never be perfected

  • @Seraphor said:

. Proximity Chat : I'm not for this, if only because I don't think players should be pressured into talking to complete strangers. Plus decent third party platform already exist, so I don't think BHVR are keen to waste time replicating it. Having the killer hear it is also problematic, what if SWF still use Discord? Now you'll have killers accusing SWF of circumventing proximity chat, which could actually be considered cheating.

An alternative could be preset text chat functions. Things like: "Killer is near!" "All clear by me" "Come here" and "I've got this!"

. Action Indicator : Legitimately great idea.

. Basekit Kindred : I think this might be a tad too strong, and I don't think BHVR are keen to add any aura effects as basekit.

An alternative could be an effect similar to Killer Instinct, but for survivors. Call it 'Sixth Sense' or something. You hold down a button while not performing an action, and you see a 'heartbeat' visual over where all the other survivors are. this gives you a location, and if you move around you might be able to get a sense of distance, but its not a flat out aura.

Yeah, I think a little chat wheel would definitely work better considering the toxicity since killer could probably use proximity chat as well which would cause harassment from both sides.

I'm glad you like it, although I can't take credit for the idea.

I like the idea of survivors having a "sixth sense" type concept, would be really cool, and they'd have to pay attention to the little flashes

Right the gap between solo and swf is so large its astonishing. Especially when killers will get paired with solo 70% of their games or more. There are a lot more solo queues than there are swf that for sure.

Thanks for saying this, I see to many killers that assume every team is a SWF out to get them and destroy their marriages by stealing husbands and wives

  • Do you hear yourself, there are survivors who didn't bully the killer and were an active team player, within the game. They aren't complaining because of that, but for the reasoning that solo queue is hell currently. SWFs aren't affected as much, it's solo queue that's having a terrible time.

What is with some people on this forum grouping an entire side together, what kind of BS? But sure, it's cuz survivors job before the update was to bully inexperienced killers.

Like holy, you play survivor with the current changes and see how it goes. Some changes on killer were a bit overly buffed, and now survivors have little counter to tunneling except BT that disappears after 5 seconds and DS that gives you barely anytime to reach a loop.

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3077881#Comment_3077881

Sadly the first idea was tested and was scrapped because survivors abused the heck out of it.

Also I can see the second one being abused by survivors as well only because the game wouldn't be able to tell when the Killer is chasing one survivor or tunneling another one....

Couldn't they use invisible ID tags sorta like Sea of Thieves does. SOT has a system where when a group collects treasure, that treasure recieves an invisible ID tag. When that treasure is stolen from other players the previous invisible ID tag is replaced with a new one marking it as stolen which means it's worth more when sold to the reaper hideout.

DBD could do something similar, the unhooked person recieves an invisible tag, so when the killer gets into chase with that survivor right after being unhooked that invisible tag would change once the survivor is in chase again. So it can't be abused when the survivor looses chase with the killer, or just isn't in chase, they recieve a different tag that would indicate this.

The main invisible tag would be a passive tag signifying the survivor is not in chase and are in "roaming" state. And for the hook thing, if the killer gets into a chase with a survivor near the hook, the hook timer continues to count down.

Obviously the invisible ID tag system would be difficult to implement, but it could work if done correctly.

  • Trickster ; His knives are annoying, I don't like hearing my Survivor grunt every 2 seconds from each knife hit

Plague ; It's preferable to be fully healed considering the fact that most Plagues I play against run thana before and after update

Pinhead ; I love him in the movies, but outside of the movie for dead by daylight, I hate him for numerous reasons. Entered with a NFT, Chains are annoying, and there's really no counter play other than "just dodge".

Edit: Adding reasoning for why I'd ban them my play roster

Also, if you are looking for new ways to make use of Prestige-ing past 6 or whatever it is, how about skins that overlay blood on top of your favorite outfits? Shirt Overlay, then Pants Overlay then face. I don't know if that's possible but I always wished it was a thing. For example. I like Kate with Red hair but I'd like to be able to have the blood on her face with that head. Thanks

I think this is a good idea, maybe for a future update or something, they can add a fourth cosmetic area called overlay, this would include the bloody cosmetics after prestiging as well as the crowns from the previous events and the masks

Nah, I get it - but when I see a thread that lumps everyone together, I tend to remind myself, "It's not about me." If it's genuinely not.

There is A LOT of survivors proudly admitting to DC'ing the moment they're inconvenienced. Things like:

    • I see X Killer
    • I see Y Perks
    • I get taken to Z Map
    • My teammate does V instead of B

Like, a medically inadvisable amount of threads with this mentality. It's worth calling out at this point.

Yeah, the survivors that proudly announce that they disconnect willingly, we don't claim them, the only time I've been given a disconnect penalty is when the game does that weird bug where it disconnects me and says I have a bad network connection even though everything else is running completely fine.

Luckily, it's only happened twice in the past week so hopefully that does not continue. I wish you a lovely day/night, and thank you for having a reasonable conversation with me, I do appreciate it!

  • @foxsansbox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3074968#Comment_3074968

That's not true. There's a litany of "Delete her", gut all her addons, remove 3 blink (Which I've never seen anyone use beyond for the achievement), the list goes on.

The point was, if people don't want to genuinely improve, they're not even going to consider trying the other role for perspective. If you can communicate that using killers as your pivot, feel free to. The thread was about survivors giving up.

Yes, but this is also an open discussion for people to make their defense, or counter to the argument.

If you're referring to my previous comment on this thread, I already talked to another person how I know that the reason why those perks were used by Killers was because that was the only way to counter gen rushing.

I have no malice towards killer mains cuz without killers there would be no game in the first place, just the OP decided to group all survivors together as a group of sheep for running the most optimal perks on their side, even though Killers do the same thing.

If you're not referring to that, then my apologies.

  • I voted for set b, but it's not looking so hot for Adam, I just wanted the Yun-Jin cosmetic :(

Lol. Have you visited the Nurse threads? Survivors are completely allergic to the idea of putting themselves in the killer role for the purpose of ironing out that bias.

Don't some (not all obviously) of those same killers do the same thing? Some killer mains don't try putting themselves in the survivor's shoes on how it feels to face off against some of those killers with the add-ons the survivor is complaining about.

Also the main complaint people had about nurse was her range add-ons, people can care less that she can teleport it's just her range add-ons people had an issue with. But this isn't a nurse discussion thread, so I'll save that for another time.

  • @NightmareKT said:

You do realise that killers had to use all those perks you mentioned cause gens are too fast and kicking gens and pallets take a long time and was not worth it?

No I know that, I was just making a point, because the reason why survivors used perks like DS and BT was the only way to counter tunneling and camping killers, and still is, this person tried making the point that survivors just use the same four perks, well I just made the same argument towards them

I have no malice towards killer mains for using these as they are just using the most effective means to get gen pressure, this was mainly just for me to make my point

Perks like DH I can care less about, didn't use it for anything except for challenges, and that was it

Funny, just yesterday me and @Tsulan had a teabagging ghostface who facecamped him and hit him on hook and then a Bubba who facecamped a Steve. But I'm sure toxicity has been fixed indeed.

Oooo, I had something similar, my teammates were toxic and even though I was solo and not with them, the Huntress assumed I was and when I helped one of my teammates get out, I was slugged throughout EGC and had hatchets thrown at me on the ground.

Her reasoning was because apparently I was the Felix, the flashlight clicker (even though I was Mikaela with a low level toolbox) and because I was part of the premade, they deserved to be toxic to me.

Guess every survivor is a SWF now, even solo queue.

  • Yeah, both sides, killers can be just as toxic as survivors, survivors more so than killers, but even so, both sides can be toxic, not just one

  • Yeah, can't wait for them to fix killers hitting on hook and such as well, toxicity on both sides needs to really be worked on

yeah, but if you already own the stranger things pack, it still says that it's a teachable and not a universal perk

yes, except it is intentional for it to work like this

  • from what I've heard, killer queue times have been pretty short, it's probably because a lot of survivors don't really want to play the game currently with the new updates, but I could be wrong, it really just depends for everyone

  • The stranger things perks are now universal perks therefore leveling up steve, nancy, and demogorgon will no longer count towards the prestige perks

  • I actually had this happen a couple times and clipped it, so I will go ahead and stitch those together and add that video on to this report ^^

  • @Phasmamain said:

I find chase perks much more viable now with 90 second gens and base regression. Brutal and STBFL especially have become meta picks on a lot of killers imo

I'd figure considering I'd assume they stack with the already existing versions, just like how basekit BT stacks with existing BT. Still gonna wait a bit before I make a full decision on it, so I'll come back in a week or so with my final opinion of the whole update, it's still too early to say since things still may be changed.

  • Found another build to add to the mix ._.

call of brine (or ruin), oppression, eruption, and overcharge, pair that on Legion with Frank's mixtape and etched ruler and just hope your solo queue team is coordinated

  • You mean like how killers relied on PGTW, Pain Resonance, DMS, and BBQ?

Now I don't use DH and IW I only ran for one specific build which wasn't even my main, but holy you are on another level of trying to call survivors sheep, Killer has training wheels now and survivor currently is gen simulator. But sure only survivors used meta perks.

Both sides used meta perks that's why 39 perks were changed which contained perks from both sides, survivors are mad cuz they know (especially the solo queue ones) that the game is going to be hell cuz it seems killers already have a new meta.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Yes, it's entirely intentional. If you only own the tier 1/2 varients of perks, you are able to purchase the tier 3 varients, and any generic perks (ie. Inner Healing, Resilience, Fearmonger, Sloppy Butcher) will also need to be purchased from tier 1 upwards.

Ah okay, thanks, wasn't sure if it was a bug or not ^^

  • For the grind thing, that's only if you're lots of gold and what not, I'm mostly just play it for fun with my friends. We have an inside joke so we make our flag the rat flag, and we also go around usually doing gold hoarders missions, if you're trying to make a lot of money somewhat quickly, I recommend doing the reapers missions, because if you sink another player ship and you deliver the stolen loot to the reapers hideout, you get more money for it then if you were to just deliver it normally.
