I think its the player spawns that are the big issue.

I swear like 95% of the time I spawn into 3 other people and make a mad dash to get the heck away because people in solo queue are hazardous. xD

we should not be spawning in together so often, and also not on top of totems as much

True, can't tell you the number of times I've spawned inside killer terror radius or when me and the killer spawn next to each other lol

  • I say keep it active til' BP incentives are added back

  • I think totem spawns need a huge rework cuz numerous times I've spawned by the killers hex and poor thing got cleansed if not by me, by another survivor.

What they can probably do, is depending on the rarity, it'll determine how long the hax is blocked at the start of the trial for 30/45/60 because the survivor could forget the hex is there, because they get busy with other objectives, or the Survivor doesn't know the map well and has difficulty finding it

  • Bubba & Clown, I got the perks I needed off them from the Shrine of Secrets

I've been playing alot of Fortnite and VHS.

My friends that left the game, hated fortnite, but they much rather play that game over dead by daylight, and that has been the case, they've been playing that for the past couple days over DBD

I think that really says something when players are willing to go to the games that they hate most over this

Survivors who never play killer frequently accuse the killer of hacking because they have zero familiarity with what tools and context clues the killer can use to find them. I've seen that plenty.

Also had a killer once report me because apparently gens got done too quickly. He was chasing one dude for most of the game and didn't pressure them...

Felt, except the killer knew that we weren't hacking, this was back in 2020, ran the Clown for 5 gens on Rotten Fields as a freshly bought Laurie and got facecamped at the end. He felt bad about it, but we had a nice laugh.

My mental health/anger problems get worse after playing killer. I'm gonna play again when Wesker releases.

Same, but with survivor, DbD brings out the worst in me sometimes due to my already existing anger issues peaking when playing this game because of how teammates play more so than killer. I pretty much stopped playing SWF as a whole cuz my friends don't even want to play the game anymore.

The grind was made worse cuz bp perks bonuses are gone and mm incentives got disabled on the first day of them being out. Don't even get me started on the 20,000 bp tax, honestly I don't think the Wesker project will save the game either.

I'm playing more relaxing games like Stardew Valley, SoT, and Minecraft to cope with my anger. Honestly I rather play Dark Souls or R6S than DbD at this point but I've put to much money into the game and I feel like it'd be a waste if I stopped playing as a whole, but it seems like the best option.

Had a person accuse me of hacking because I knew exactly which locker they were in. I just have really nice headphones and a fantastic amp to pair it with. I heard the very faint squeak of a locker around the corner and just guessed right on my first attempt.

Exactly, I play mainly survivor and I like to think my headset is of mostly decent quality, and even with that, the survivor's breathing can also be heard inside the locker

Last night an injured Claudette was being chased. I thought I'd "help" by bodyblocking for her. I accidently sandbagged her instead and she went down. The killer went after and hooked me after that. Oh well, she got saved and they all left through the exit and left me on hook to die.

Had an almost similar experience to that, was on Rotten Fields (meat tree ver.) killer was Bubba. So one of our teammates goes down near shack and gets hooked in basement, he wasn't camping, so my ballsy ass goes for the save. Low and behold, Steve had the same idea. I unhook the Haddie and Bubba is coming back, and I just feel my heart drop. So there's three people in the basement, and Bubba is on his way back chainsaw revving. Well when we all skedaddled out of basement, I nearly sandbagged the freshly unhooked Haddie.

Thankfully, almost everyone managed to get out, rest in peace Steve, we would have gotten you off hook, but Bubba was facecamping and we all were injured, even if we tried, we would be chainsawed. Your sacrifice was not in vain, love ya man.

Look at that. There's around 4 votes to keep clicking in the game for every 1 vote to remove it.

GOSH I wonder why THAT ratio is happening!

Because people are getting offended by pixels on a screen instead of just going on about their day, every game has BM. Flashlight clicking and teabagging can be used for numerous reasons; to take aggro, communicating to teammates, ect.

In the end it's just BM like any other game, if you get offended that easily don't play games like R6S, Apex, ect. cuz clearly you can't handle a person BMing in a game even though they're probably not ballsy enough to actually hurt someone irl. But sure, your fragile feelings will be preserved from the mean pixels.

I don't want them back. The ones that quit because they cant get their way are probably just toxic players anyway.

I respect your opinion, but some of the people who left were just people that wanted to have fun, and they got screwed over by this latest patch. It's especially prevalent within the solo survivor area. Solo-queue survivors were promised back in January that solo would be nerfed before killers got their buffs, but instead were lied to.

Yes killers needed buffs, but it shouldn't have been at the cost of some players being miserable.

  • What type of tinfoil hat theory? I made a post explaining how it's such a minority of players, even if there was a group, it wouldn't do #########.

Our minds recall bad experiences more so than good ones, and I highly doubt it's happening every match like people are claiming, and this is coming from someone who plays both solo and SWF, whenever I play solo, and have exclusively random teammates I rarely see people disconnecting/killing themselves on hook. Sure it happens once in awhile but not always.

The ability to disconnect from the game using the in-game Leave Match option.

Okay, sure, guarantee you there's going to be dozens of reports about hackers holding the game hostage, but sure, let's remove the only option to counter that :D

Honestly, these conspiracy theories are mind boggling

Not to mention this kills two crows with one pebble when it comes to the whole 'people wanted something they could show off to other players' aspect.

" But I never ran DH".

    "Liiieeesssssssss".

It's not "Killer mentality", it's jackass mentality. One held by immature jackasses. Same with survivors who are in some kind of SWF on comms and taunt the Killer in post-match chat; "Hurrrr GG EZ lulz".

    Jackasses.

Idk, I feel like we shouldn't have to preface every thread with a huge disclaimer "I know this isn't *all ___________***", but I've always has too much faith in others.... lol.

Yeah, I get that, but there are going to be the people who instantly group all people together which I feel is the reason why other people need to clarify that they don't mean everyone on that side. Ya know?

But agreed, people rarely take the other side seriously. Its toxic, childish and accomplishes nothing.

70% use rate in HIGH mmr, and the developers already confirmed that only a small percentage of people were actually in high mmr, it had a 45% usage in mid mmr, and I believe 17% in low mmr

SB doesn't ignore a health state you should've gotten, SB doesn't make it possible to unhook someone, yeet through the killers arms, and make a clear get away, literally 90% of killers are completely fine seeing SB instead of DH

Surprising enough, I actually already saw one thread that was wanting to nerf SB, but people with their head on their shoulder actually explained how the perk takes skill to use, not "press x/a/e to win"

Everyone knows Dead Hard was nerfed. But guess what? Quite a few people didn't use the god forsaken perk.

Yeah, but those that didn't quite often relied on teammates using them. Dead Hard gave bad survivors the chance to ridiculously extend chases so that even those who didn't indirectly benefited from it since the time the killer was wasting chasing somebody who just gained 20 or 30 seconds on the back of a disgustingly broken perk was time they were free to do gens unmolested. To say nothing of the fact that DH was so widespread that killers defaulted on waiting DH even when the survivor in question wasn't running it.

Now all of that is gone and bad survivors have to actually get good or fall to their real mmr bracket, and the fact is, while that mmr adjustment is happening, the people who were good and actually never relied on DH themselves will still have to deal with games being lose because the "press E for a free escape" buffoons are getting killed at 4 gens left.

Just give time some time and the people who used DH will fall to the subterranean mmr that they belong, and the only people left will be the people who were genuinely good at the game.

Okay, we aren't trying to insult people, I was merely pointing out the simple fact of a group of killers saying the same thing we already know, and it gets annoying seeing it every other thread even if the original thread had nothing to do with the god forsaken perk.

Trust me, I know DH was busted, but because I was in mid-mmr before the mass perk rework I didn't see dead heart as often as you would see in high mmr, what's the developers have already confirmed only a small percentage of people are in the higher ranks, 75% in high mmr used the perk, around 45% in mid, and I believe 17% for lower.

So I saw my teammates running the perk in less than half my games. I did not rely on my teammates are in the park because they barely did, I have seen plenty of people make it just fine and chases. But to call people "buffoons" for running a perk, than damn, you need to cool it.

Not only that, I never played with a full group of survival friends, and I believe it's more common in full squads for the people to run the perk, not really solo-queue.

I was responding to this mentality from the OP; ""Yep, keep crying cuz your precious DH is gone, gg ez bozo!""

Survivors waiting at the gate to click and taunt are equally dumb.

Real quick just popping in to comment, obviously I don't think this is the killer mentality, I was over exaggerating, it was just a comment on how some of the killers are thinking that DH was the only perk survivors were upset about, or if there was a thread that didn't even have to do with the perk, it clearly had "undertones" they were secretly seething with rage that dead hard was gone.

Also, don't worry I know for a fact that survivors can be just as bad, I used to be one of those survivors when I first started playing the game, but I've matured since then and I am no longer one of those people who think there are God at the game because they can teabag.

  • @lauraa said:

Even if you never ran DH, you benefitted from its existence passively.

Now that passive protection is gone, so even if you never used it you are still heavily affected by the DH nerf as asurvivor

That's not the point of the post, the point of the post was to point out the people who are solely blaming dead hard when survivors ask for nerfs on killer things or for solo queue to be buffed. Majority of the post I have seen talking about these topics don't even mention that hard, but talk about how killers were over-buffed, or how solo queue was left on the back burner.

But I've seen way too many people, who are saying that it's just because they relied on that one perk, even though there were quite a few people who didn't even use the perk. They think that's the only reason that someone could survive, regardless if they ran it or not, because killers were worried if they would have it, then they would lose time when they swung and missed.

  • @Dead_Harder said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3091024#Comment_3091024

Thats not what i am saying. I understand that you arent using dead hard and neither were your friends. What im saying is beforehand even when you werent using dead hard the killer would have to check for it so to speak losing precious time, sometimes multiple times in a match if you havent shown them any other exhaustion perk.

After the patch what could be happening is, yes killers getting overall a little buffed, which is nice. But more importantly killers are just going gungho now so to speak and that might be making you go down easier. Even more than the 10% pallet break, even more than the less distance covered after a hit imo whats also a big factor is killers are just not giving people those extra few seconds in a chase to check for DH, that mental switch is gone.

I'm saying even if none of the 4 survivors in your lobby were running DH, you all used to benefit from it. And now you dont. Aka yes you didnt run DH, but you still benefited from it.

I know, i know its petty. But yeah killers seem faster in chases, could that be a factor as well? : P

My apologies, I misunderstood, but as someone else said, I don't think that the perk was the only reason that would be able to increase chances of escape, there can be numerous factors that come into play within the situation. The killer may or may not have slipped up, no one can truly know aside from the killers and survivors within that match.

I'm sure you know this, but there are people who do think that the sole reason that survivors were able to escape was only because of DH.

Also who am I to call Killers petty for that, both sides have their own petty things.

Again, if I misunderstood somewhere, my apologies.

  • @Yords said:

I can tell, because they are the ones who are very good and don't greed too much during chases. The ones who used it as a crutch still have a bad habit of being greedy when they don't have that luxury.

Even without DH, I used to and still do greed palettes, but that's because I'm trying to get into the habit of hugging walls, and the obstacles that I am running, because I already know that I am not good at looping killer lolol

I'm gonna be the ######### that brings it up even when its not mentioned but DH was so prelevant and so powerful that even if nobody in game had it (which was basically never mind you) the killer still had to respect it at least 4 times in chase. This slowed games down considerably. It is unironically liberating not having to worry about DH and a good reason why survivors are going down way faster is because killers dont give a ######### about DH now.

So yeah, even you who never used DH was kinda carried by DH.

I was being devils advocate a little bit but i unironically think this is one of the secret ingredients in that meal, a lil piece of that puzzle, a lil something something ☀(▀U ▀-͠)

Real quick, so I will debunk this real quick, I do admit that some of my random teammates once in a while would use DH when I was in my two-man swf. But surprisingly it wasn't as common as other people were putting it, but that was probably because me and my friend don't use it and we take half the team so the people more likely using it had a 50/50 chance to end up on my team.

Once in a blue moon did I see teammates running dead hard, and surprisingly quite a few of them were not skilled with the perk despite it just being "press a to win"

Now, at the same time, I will admit that again there would people who would run the perk every once in awhile that were in fact skilled with it and we probably must've won a match thanks to it. But you'd be surprised with the amount of teammates I used to have that was just dead hard into a wall.

So survivors are big sad with this update? Is killer that strong Or are they just freaking out and complaining without giving it real go because of “CHANGE”

The update hasn't even been out a week, I think most the complaints are just from people on console because they didn't get to try out the PTB so we're kind of just left to cope with the new update without being able to give their feedback. Honestly though, I do think that killers were slightly over buffed, but I understand where the developers were coming from with the suspect because the kill rates weren't high enough before, but you should be getting higher kill rates now for sure with this update, survivors are just adapting to it right now.

Meta for Killers right now is just run full slowdown perks

  • Killer is roughly on the same level as survival friends now, so there's that, but survivors are also still adjusting and adapting, and it looks like quite a few of them are now getting the hang of it.

Killer (as some have put it) has training wheels now, and the developers are no longer holding the survivor's hand and instead the killer's hand /j

But in all honesty, I recommend giving the new update a shot, who knows you might like it, you might not, but killer queue times have been very terrible as of late due to the amount of survivors leaving the game or swapping over to killler

  • Okay, so my post was talking about how there's a conspiracy going around that survivors are purposely killing themselves to inflate the kill rates, except this is not the case, and if there are survivors doing it it's not going to affect it much.

Everyone is still adapting obviously, but I don't think everyone in their entire family is trying to inflate kill rates. Conspiracy debunked, mic dropped.

My post isn't really talking about the balance of the game, just about how a select few people think there is a conspiracy that survivors have going on.

  • She's my main, of course I want a tome for her lol

Most survivors dc while killer would hook them on death hook so that does not count as kill? I heard somewhere if one survivor dc:s that match is not counted in kill rates even if killer kills last 3? That can't be true thought.

The other 3 kills should still count? I don't think the whole match should be void. But it could be because the Survivors have a higher chance of losing if a teammate disconnects early game, and worse if they're in a 2/3-man SWF the teammates will D/C with em

  • @not_Queef said:

No but seriously, only those with access to the top secret killrate boosting conspiracy Discord channel are privy to that information.

One day I hope I'm cool enough to get in the top secret server 😎

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It would take a massive concerted effort across every server for survivors to intentionally affect kill rates. Think about how many players are online at any given moment just from steam charts alone. Think about how many games you personally can play in 1 hour. One person isn't even going to be a speck on a line graph. 1000 players intentionally dying won't move the needle over the course of a day, let alone a week.

If you read my comments, you'll see how I did address this as well, +50% of survivors would have to be killing themselves purposely to even make a dent in these rates, but there's a lesser percentage than people believe their to be.

  • @Juicyman said:

Most reasonable people are aware there are plenty of issues with solo-q and that this patch made them worse (by how much by is up for debate but we can agree it's worse in some capacity), however a big part of this will simply be because of the dead hard change. If 3/4 survivors were using it (as statistically shown), and you claim you never used it therefore "why are my games worse if I didn't change my build" you're forgetting the possibility that the other 3 survivors in your lobby may have crutched on dead hard.

Even if you didn't use dead hard you still benefitted from it statistically in your solo-q games because of your teammates being able to use it (if you were the one not running it). Now that they can't use it to extend their chases you no longer benefit from dead hard as well. Taking this into account the devs have also said they wanted kill rates to rise so killers got a basekit buff as well, meaning it's no wonder your games are being mangled if the other survivors are completely lost without their perk (also, just so I don't have to specify later, we both know not all 3 of the other survivors continuously crutched onto the perk but I'm sure we can agree MANY of them did).

There are issues that need to be addressed even after this patch (incentives not to tunnel/camp etc), but a lot of the immediate results we are seeing are most likely because of the cause and effect of dead hard being neutered. Ultimately, even if you didn't use dead hard, you still statistically benefitted from it in your games before the nerf and those that did use it need time to adapt. After-all we're seeing plenty of decent survivor streamers doing work without dead hard because they are good at their role.

And I understand this, never did I deny it, but I didn't mention my games either. The main issue with solo-queue (aside from what you have mentioned) was things like the uprise and tunneling/camping (yes it was used before, but seems worse now) because the devs didn't go through with the original promise to buff solo-queue before buffing Killers for the exact reason as solo-queue would get left behind. Those were the most common complaints (from what I've seen at least) or killers running full slowdown builds because that was pretty much the meta before because gens were flying.

Killers did need a buff, for sure, but they were overbuffed with this update due to the survivor meta being changed for the most part and the killer meta not changing much. Don't get me wrong, DH definitely needed a nerf, and I have no problem with DS disabling during endgame. But the 5 second stun is needed now due to killers like Blight and Nurse not being affected really and it takes 1 second to start the DS animation and you have 2 to get away. This is not a problem with the killers themselves, but due to the nerf of one of the better anti-tunneling perks.

Also if I had to guess, most of the complaints stem from the survivors on console cuz they didn't get to test the PTB like PC players did, so the only way to get their feedback through was through their complaints cuz PTB feedback wasn't a viable option.

  • @Akumakaji said:

A lot of good answers here, so I won't repeat everything already said.

OP, you are right, of course, there are various problems and DH was just a pretty big 75% problem that got a massive stranglehold on the game.

BUT I just want to throw in two thoughts:

    1) the first hours of the patch, the whole first day, survivor games just crumbled and utterly obliterated at the slightest touch. This probably didn't happen just because killers got 10% buffed, or else we wouldn't have seen this total destruction of the survivors game play, but likely because the rug was pulled from under everyone, exposing to the world of DBD how much of the survivor player base had relied on this perk, the wool was pulled from everyones eyes, showing that the endless debates of "lol just bait it out, its just a perk. Git gud" and "maybe you didn't outplay them. What makes you think you earned that down? Obviously you didn't" probably held more water then many would want to admit.

    2) Not every player used DH, and not every player was carried by DH, BUT I would go so far to say that every single game was carried in one way or another by DH. You always had those players who didn't use it and still did well. They either used different exhaustion perks, immersed themselves or just were pretty good at looping and maybe supported their skills with some Windows of Opportunity or the likes. But 3/4 of the player base after a certain MMR bracket used it, and every single game multiple times someone got away, dashed to safety or invalidated a killers clever positioning with DH, and this added up and carried the game, even for ones sitting on a gen.

Since then many survivors have adapted to the new situation and (re) learned how to properly loop without DH and how to play safer. This patch many many important things happened all together, and they don't just add up but sometimes multiply themselves, but I am pretty sure that we had seen shock and awe effect like the first day of the patch, if they had just made the change to DH and nothing else. Maybe not so long lasting or prevalent, but it would have been there.

But this is past us now, water under the bridge. Now we must work together to help our soloQ fellows out (I am a soloQ survivor most of the time myself, btw) and how to combat the camping /tunneling epidemic.

DH is dead, and I am pretty confident that it will never return to anything like it's glory days, and that's a good thing.

First, I love how you put this, I will not deny DH is in fact a problem for sure, but I am very happy to understand that you know where I'm coming from here. Cuz DH definitely needed a nerf, my friend and I personally hated it and I don't even play killer as often as him.

I also agree with the amount of complaints after the patch first released, I think this was mainly because console players didn't have the chance to experience the PTB like PC players did and this was their first taste of the changes. But I do also agree how a few complaints I have seen were justified which was the increase in camping and tunneling I've noticed and others have as well, and how the Survivor meta has been changed, but the Killer meta roughly stayed the same with just stacking slow down perks but now it's become stronger.

I made a post actually addressing Solo-queue and despite no mention of DH it did come into the conversation due to one of the people who need to keep saying like a drone that it was nerfed.

Both sides have their issues, DH which was definitely one, and it was nerfed it's just when certain people need to say it every other comment/post talking about the update is what irks me.

I just see it as people getting frustrated. I saw it a lot when I first started in solo queue after the patch but now I have great games.

I get that, although solo queue is still quite frustrating, as many others, including myself have stated, it's only the first week, after a bit longer, then people should give their full hearted opinions.

I've seen people admit that they're dying on purpose to inflate kill rates in order to ultimately get killers nerfed, for what that's worth

Then those people need to play a different game, they don't represent survivors as a whole, plus it won't do much, devs won't nerf killers just because of the inflated kill rates unless there's a +10% like there was between survivors and killers before the patch

A couple survivors doing this won't have much impact considering the larger majority is actually trying
