Do you mean to imply that the counter to NOED is playing against inexperienced killers?

Upon looking at my post, I didn't see that anywhere. Let's have a discussion instead of you manufacturing statements. Thanks.

"negligent" dull totems aren't a requirement, they are just a way to stop NOED from activating

And if you don't want NOED to activate, and want to stop it from happening, it now becomes a requirement. That's forgoing the fact that when a killer has NOED, you can see it coming from a mile away just by how they play.

  • Bud, put down your cup of teen angst and calm down, lol. You're reading way too much into what they said.

That's a silly complaint. If everyone could queue up as Jason exclusively then their queues would take 30+ minutes. I agree with you about liking their builds though.

I mean, I agree with F13 it would have been bad, but it's still a legit complaint, because it was compared to DBD. But the choice thing is a core concept of DBD, taking that away would be an awful idea. I would rather see them take less used perks and make them more useful. Do some meta-changing perk updates instead of saying "no using this perk this week"; cause a week would come up where DS or BBQ wasn't usable and people would lose their proverbial feces.

  • I feel like the reason is obvious. People like their builds. If you take that choice or freedom away from them, they are less inclined to play. Look at Friday the 13th. A lot of peoples BIGGEST issue with that game (besides the fact that the game is dead) was that you couldn't just queue up as Jason. It was random.

  • Also, imagine calling NOED...a KILLER perk, the "easiest crutch perk in the game"...even though it's completely preventable, and it's existence depends on survivors, like yourself, being negligent. If you get hit with NOED, it's your own fault.

    Okay there, hoss.

  • Not an issue at all. If survivors fall for Insidious, they are pepegas. It's really quite fun. Not a build I run often, but it's good for a laugh, since it's glaringly obvious when a killer has it.

  • Insidious is fine where it is. Don't mess with my pepega benchmark tool.

  • Can we just get rid of DS?

Seriously though - don't AFK gens, and destroy bones. Boom, NOED is gone. Wasn't even that hard.

''they don't know how to do an update''

I mean, you would have a point, but besides the fact that you don't know this person, or their education/qualifications...this is BHVR. With every update (not exaggerating, literally every single one), something gets broken, and it usually takes months, upon months to fix ti (unless it's a glaring survivor issue like DS being broken with Doctor etc).

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Yup they broke it. Dunno how, maybe they were trying to shadow nerf Billy lol.

Nah, a shadow nerf is never this blatantly obvious to the point where even survivors see it in game. This was just a bug. Typical BHVR fare.

HamletEagle basically answered it, but it's to prevent malicious modification of the ini files to gain an advantage. Unfortunately that means that other harmless tweaks, like disabling anti aliasing, are also disabled. It's not just to spite the people who prefer playing without anti aliasing.

You know, most skilled game development studios would simply disable certain CVAR's instead of locking down every possible option in a config file. Which isn't that hard to do in Unreal, I should add.

This was just the lazy way of doing things. Plain and simple.

This is nothing new from BHVR, to be honest.

    > Complain about people not wanting to sweat

    > Also complain about the same people tunneling as Freddy with a Mori

Which is it, then? Do you want them to play sweaty or not?

The contradiction is strong in that one, indeed.

These are the kind of rational killer mains dictating balance in this game. This is who the balance team listens to.

Imagine actually believing *killer mains* dictate anything in DBD, and that survivors aren't actually proven to be the devs priority 9/10 times. Nerfing ruin, nerfing nurse, or my personal favorite, people thinking Billy is OP (LOOLOLOLLLOOLLL)....but the second killers get a buff to their killing potential, which in reality, is really only eliminating overpowered god loops, it's "survivors are getting nerfed too much". KEKW

Go on, continue to tell us how hard it is for survivors.

  • @gatsby said:

As a Killer, you really can't afford to pick up Decisive. The survivor gets TWO chases instead of one and any teammates that were nearby make enough distance that you can't find them.

In a game where getting every hook state counts, you can't afford to make a mistake like that.

If you really feel like tunneling recently unhooked survivors. Slug them quickly and then chase their rescuer. Don't pick them up if there's an obsession on the team because that means there's a good chance DS is in play

I've had DS happen to me after hooking two other survivors, and coming back to a gen to find the original survivor, and they still have DS. This isn't tunneling. The timer is either too long, or they need to make it so if you're off the hook when someone else is hooked, DS is deactivated.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

"If the killer has no luck in hooking many survivors before the doors are activated, then the survivors should have been able to cleanse totems without feeling pressure, thus, not giving the NOED edge to the killer. It's on them if it activates."

Someone obviously doesn't play much solo survivor. You can not stop the others from finishing the gens. There's no group decision to make sure all totems are cleansed. If you run around from the start getting all the totems you'll earn minimal points, and it's not even a good idea because you don't know if your team even has a chance at getting the gens done.

I don't think you of all people should be criticizing someone else's experience. After all the killer nerfs and complaints you make.

If your teammate makes the save despite being camped, yes it will help against a camper. That camper is just also a tunneler now. Killers never cared about survivor fun, don't even try to pretend otherwise.

Not really. A camper is just going to now camp your team mate. I could say the same thing about survivors caring about killers fun. "Don't even try to pretend otherwise". For your own sake, don't get into it with me. Your ego will crumble to pieces.

  • Put it this way - you get no additional points if they make it out the door with you. But if you go for the save, there's a strong chance that you don't make it out the door.

So if one of them has to die, better them than me.

  • I used to do that. Then one time I didn't (for a daily)...and I was ######### talked after game. That's when I realized a lot of the time that last survivor feels entitled to the hatch. So I now I tend to run a Cypress Mori (I have over 1000 of them between all my killers) almost every game unless I want a specific map or need bloodpoints. That's now how I deal with the last survivor. Murder.

Oh please. It has nothing to do with Ruin. Gens go too fast now so the solution is to tunnel and camp? PLEASE. That gives everyone else time to get those gens done very quickly. Killers always tunneled and camped and they always will.

DS isn't going to help against a camper so I'm not sure why you mentioned that; and it will only help against someone tunneling to a small extent; and yes, the answer is actually to tunnel.

If you can eliminate someone quickly, whether that be by tunneling them or other means, that's a HUGE amount of pressure on the remaining survivor. Ruin wasn't required for killers to win. It was required for them to play nice. With ruin gone for bogus reasons, killers have stopped giving a care about survivor fun.

Yeah finishing 3 gens and almost 4 before killers can walk across large maps is deffiently a good change for killers. Insta heals is back, been loving the DS plays from that. Wow I can literally control the killer's entire objective like a GOD by using 1 perk and an alex's toolbox, and wanna know the best part? I won't lose that purple when I escape.

But you know what. Better not let that Hangman's Trick through. It would give Killer a slightly better chance of doing well in a trial, and we all know if you can't bully the killer - then you are not having fun.

I have to agree here. This is why I think I'll just start bringing Franklins, and slugging entire teams to let them bleed out. I really don't care about pips. This is more of a cleansing.

This happens on both PS4 and PC (I'm sure it will happen on Xbox as well when the servers are enabled).

This specific problem is not a coincidence or a problem with anyones configuration, it's a problem with their servers.

Okay. Then it must be happening to everyone equally.

That is not how things work buddy. If I play docens of games and only one is crashing, the problem is optimization in that game and combatibility issues with different hardware setups and drivers versions. That is a developer problem, not an user problem.

You not having crashes mean nothing when it is obvious that the game optimization has never been ideal because myself have had crashes for a whole patch and in the next one have 0 crashes for months and then in the next chapter have few crashes and so on.

The problem is that i didn't give a single F about having 1-2 crashes after 3-4 hours of playtime for that particular patch version since they added a PENALTY for having the game crashed.

This is something they need to fix because they know that this is common amongst the player base and they know really well that their game and servers are not 100% stable.

That actually is how things work with multiplatform engines. If it's not wide spread, there's something specific happening with the configs of the people it's happening to (on the PC side). Whether it be hardware, driver, or software related. If it's not happening to everyone equally, it's not necessarily the games fault.

yes the dc penalties timer are too high. they should be reduced for the first few dc's

That would defeat the purpose of them.

    @Smichaels82 said:

So, how do the DC penalty times work? I’m sure official numbers haven’t been made public so I’m asking anyone with experience. First DC is 5 minutes. Second is 15 minutes. Third is 30 minutes. I ASSUME next would be 1 hour, then 3 hours, then 6 hours??? But does this timer ever reset and if so, how long does that take? I’m curious because this has happened to me three times in about three days of playing DBD on PS4:

Here I am playing, la-di-di la-di-da, game crashes either semi-beginning or middle of trial. I wait over a minute on a black logo screen to get the end results showing the DC symbol next to both the Killer and I. The other 3 survivors look fine. Back to the main menu to see I now have a DC penalty. I message the Killer and other Survivors and find out the same thing happened to them. They were shown the DC symbol next to their name and Killer’s, yet no one claims to have disconnected, but we’re all being penalized. I truly do believe no one in-game did DC. If I didn’t DC yet the result screen shows that both me and Killer did, this is a obviously some sort of glitch. If the Killer did actually DC, then why does it show I did as well? On top of every other player in my game experiencing the same thing.

Now, these sort of bugs have happened in this game since forever but I only paid it half a mind because I wasn’t really getting penalized for it (albeit the momentary annoyance, loss of possible points, etc.). I was all for the DC penalty when it was announced and applied but… silly me! I thought it would run competently. I’m guessing the system/servers can’t detect the difference between a crash and a manual DC, making this penalty system very faulty for a game that has the potential to crash almost daily.

And no, my internet is great. The router is hard-wired into my PS4 and I pay more than I’m willing to admit on high-speed internet. And no, my PS4 runs well… or… as well as these consoles do. Its storage is only half-full and no other game crashes on me at the same rate as DBD. And great, I’m glad you have over a million hours of game time and this has not once happened to you. Maybe the PS4 shhhhhucks but no, I’m not going to fork over a grand to play this game on a good PC. And yes, I think there should be DC penalties in this game but now it’s at the expense of a faulty system. And perhaps it is a necessary evil. However, I hope they look into this (for like, the forth time) with a closer eye and make it so real-life DCs can be pinpointed better. And yes, people have posted this same complaint. I just want my voice and reasoning heard as well. And yes, I am an unlucky guy – you should watch me play this game!!!

Personally, I never did care as much as yall about the DCs in this game. They are rampant but I never do laugh harder than when a Survivor DCs after I down them once. Or better yet, when the Killer just stops mid-chase for 2 seconds then DCs, even though the chase was only less than a minute. I am grateful when a teammate DCs to let me get hatch. Yay, bye! It does stink but I believe a great way around this would be to reward the Killer much better when a Survivor DCs. If I’m not mistaken, Killer gets like 600 points for a DC??? That’s not good at all. He/She should get all the bells and whistles, as if Killer max-chased that survivor, hooked them 3 times, full sacrifice, etc. Throw the 600 points to all other Survivors for having to carry the full weight. The game isn’t impossible to make points in or win if one Survivor DCs early. Heck, most times, if there are 2 or more Survivors who have disconnected in a trial, Killer feels bad and farms for a few minutes then kills or lets the rest escape. We’re making points. We’re playing the game. We’re loading back into your queue.

So Friday night, first crash gave me 5 minutes.

Saturday afternoon, second crash gave me 15 minutes.

Sunday night, third crash gave me 30 minutes.

Anyone know when/if this resets and what could be next?

I love this game, I always say this, but it’s starting to feel like a giant Jenga tower, swaying around with each hot fix, patch, DLC, game mechanic that’s added. It’s just another brick on the top. And now breakable walls? Eekz.

I didn't read the entirety of your posts. It seemed..unnecessary given the subject matter. In any case, your second crash wasn't for 15 minutes, and your third wasn't for 30 minutes unless there were actual disconnects (intentional ones) in there somewhere.

    It goes:

    1. 5 minutes
    2. 5 minutes
    3. 15 minutes
    4. 15 minutes
    5. 30 minutes
    6. 30 minutes
    7. 60 minutes
    8. 60 minutes
    9. etc etc.

Mass Effect, Witcher series, PUBG, Path of Exile, GTA5, Overwatch, HOTS, Starcraft, League of Legends, Frostpunk, Control, Faster than Light, all Darksouls, Sekiro, Surviving Mars, Resident Evil 2, Diablo 3, No Man Sky, They are Billions, Sea of thieves, Left 4 Dead, Half-life... those are the games i played last year and keep playing this with exactly 0 crashes. NOT A SINGLE ON. BUT YOU ARE RIGHT, it is my system that is not working properly.

And yes, i always summit logs and click SEND. Disconnect penalty should not exist if CrashReportClient.exe call to execute is made from the game itself.

Instead of being so defensive, perhaps you should listen.

I'm with him. I rarely get client crashes (I don't actually remember the last time it happened that wasn't my own fault). I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but if it happens that much to you, and not everyone equally...logic dictates there's something specific to you going on.

I’m climbing the ranks just fine thanks. Never said it was me that was tunneled everygame. I’m earning enough to pip.

I got the typical response as predicted. You can’t disagree with anyone without resorting to saying they’re bad at the game....because everyone who disagrees with you sucks apparently but you, McLightning are the one who knows best in every case. Only you are truly capable of assessing the game.

I think at this point it’s best for me to just stop replying permanently.

So nothing to refute what I said? Just "I'm climbing in ranks just fine"? How is that possible if you're tunneled by 95% of killers?

I never said you were bad, I said you were lacking in skill. I wasn't being so callous. I even said you could get better. Not sure what you're trying to prove? All you've done is prove that your exaggerated claim was just that - exaggerated. You can't be ranking up just fine if you're tunneled by "95% of killers". You see what I'm doing here? I'm just trying to get you to be realistic and stop embellishing your claims like you always do.

I disappear because it becomes apparent you just aren’t willing to listen and end up doing what you’re doing now - accusing others of either lying or being bad at the game.

What I said is true after rankreset. It was funny watching streamers like tru3 complain again and again about how all killers try to 1 vs 1 at green ranks. I think people forgot how bad it was with the new rank reset for a few months.

Survivors go down and get hooked. That’s their punishment for a misplay. They don’t have a chance to defend themselves when they’re tunneled off hook twice in a row after.

I listen, and then I refute, and then you usually have no response. That's usually how it goes; and no, it's not true what you said. Maybe it's true for you. Judging by your behavior and nonsensical claims and statements on these forums (which points to your entitlement and arrogance) to make killers look bad and survivors somehow look like victims, I don't think I'd blame anyone for tunneling you. You probably deserve it with your attitude. Who knows how cocky you play in game if this is how you act here.

Overall, you are greatly exaggerating your claims and outright lying. This whole "95% of killers at green ranks tunnel off hook" nonsense is just that, nonsense. It's as nonsense of all those killers who say every team they face at red rank is a coordinated SEAL TEAM 10 with toolboxes and BNPs.

As I said, I think it more speaks to your skill and knowledge level which we all know is (no offense of course, cause you can still learn) is lacking compared to more experienced players. Since me and pretty much everyone I know made it back to rank 1 in 2 days...but for you it's so hard cause you get "tunneled off hook by 95% of killers". This is why you have the reputation (as in, not a good one) you do on these forums. Maybe if you weren't so dismissive and didn't fabricate and embellish 95% of your claims, and didn't demand a nerf to everything you didn't know how to play against (NOED, Hillbilly, slugging etc), people would take you more seriously.

    Go ahead. Keep going.

    Rewards failure?

Have you played after rank reset? Where 95% of killers just tunnel off hook?

How is the survivor meant to defend themself when the killer just proxy camps the hook waiting for the tunnel?

Stop lying and exaggerating to get your point across. If all killers tunneled off hook like you say, I wouldn't have made it back to rank 1 in a day and a half from being reset to green ranks, lol. Nobody is having your phony claims anymore. Especially when you just disappear when someone asks for proof. I think what you're experiencing is that green ranks are simply where you probably belong with your skill level. After all, you're the one who said you have a hard time dodging a Hillbilly.

DS does reward failure. In order for it to come into play, you have to get caught and hooked.

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

I love how people say NOED punishes bad survivors. I think NOED rewards bad killers.

The killer hasn't failed until all the survivors are out the door; and strictly speaking, if NOED actually activates, it's because the survivors failed. They didn't cleanse the totems.

DS can be prevented you um just let the slug be a slug for 60 seconds. TA-DA you are welcome!

Also DS is the one way to help a poor survivor that is being tunneled from being tunneled at least once. If you aren't tunneling them then the timer will always run out before they can use it anyway. I have had games where I never once got to use DS because the killer would not chase me until the timer was up. ONCE AGAIN TA-DA!!! MAAAAGIC

So, here's where you lose (and I suggest you stop trying). Say the exit gates are opened. EGC has begun. You have someone on the hook and they get saved. They have DS for 60 seconds. Even if you slug that person, they have time to get to a door. What's the counter play? Oh wait, there isn't one. They either crawl out the door, because they have 60 seconds to get to either door which is more than enough, or you pick them up and get DS'd. Where's the part where it can be prevents? Go ahead. I'll wait. (I'll literally be waiting forever).

Also - do you know how many times I can hook someone, then go hook 2 other people, find the 1st person at a generator...and they still have DS? I hooked 2 other people? How were they tunneled? Your entire logic is broken. So just stop, lol. You only serve to hurt your own ego here, cause you have no real point to make other than shameless defense of your little crutch perk.

Good, now that we've established that your logic is broken, you can stop attempting. :) Just back away, bud. You started a debate you can't win.

Last time I check to active DS you need to take a huge meathook to the back and then HOPE the killer picks you up. I could be wrong though. lol If the killer is the smart they just let you lay like a dumb slug.

I also agree with what you said about NOED. There should be at least some requirement beyond the simple just needing survivors to leave one dull totem. You pointed out how devour hope needs tokens yet there is little to nothing needed for NOED. I wish people would be honest and think about how often does every totem really get cleansed when they play. It is even worst in solo ques unless you make it your only job to try and find them all.

"Last time I checked, you have to take a huge meathook to the back"...wait, so you have to get caught? Which means...losing a chase? Which if I'm mistaken...is a failure on your part? You have to fail to get your get out of jail free perk? K.

Balance DS? You mean the one time use and if you fail you fail is not enough?

NOED is fine though I mean it's okay you do not need to do anything to make it work and can slug everyone and get a speed boost. It does not compare to the one time use DS that stuns for what 3 or 5 seconds. I can see how DS is so much more powerful compare to NOED. ROFL

DS is more than just "one time use and if you fail" etc.

It needs to be conditional so it's anti-tunnel only. You couldn't be able to go and save someone else on the hook with DS activate. It should deactivate if someone else is hooked or if you are grabbed.

another killer main. Look at them coming out the woodworks to defend their territory lmaooo. No... I know I’m not wrong here when I say that regardless of my experience which... I believe I’ve seen everything there is to see. I don’t need to use perks 5000 times to know who they counter or what they do. Because the way I see it, there are a lot of survivor perks that just don’t do enough to fill the standards of what these types of survival games need. Not pallet looping. I don’t need to be rank 1 to see that this game has many things that need fixing on the killer side. I don’t need to play 5000 games to see that when the killer swings at a vault window it absolutely demolishes anything on the other side of it. If I vault through a window the killer should have to go through it or around before landing a hit.

Takes more skill to be a killer main.

    :)

    @McLightning

Even if the gens don't go fast, people still face camp. I really don't see what your point is.

Especially when "gen rushing" is a direct counter to camping.

If gen rushing is a direct counter, than do that and quit whining. My point was pretty clear - complaining about camping is nonsense because it's a legit strat.

This is only for hybrid Players(play killer and Survivor). Which side do y'all think needs to be buffed? Y'all don't have to explain why. I just wanna see people's answer. Me personally, I think killers need to b a bit stronger. Let's keep things civil and respectfully disagree if our opinions differ.

Killer. Any other answer is incorrect.

  • Rewarding people for losing?

Good god, this generation of gamers really is helpless.

This forum is well known for being full of unhappy killer mains. Just ask anyone outside of here. Some complaints I can agree with but there are definitely some ridiculously biased ideas, or they call for nerf after nerf after nerf to everything survivors have and yet if anyone complains about anything at all on the killer side they always give out the excuse "its perfectly balanced you just need to git gud" but somehow this advice never applies to them.

Unhappy killer mains, and the same usual suspects of survivor mains who are too green to be able to dodge a Hillbilly and want him nerfed.

    1) No ######### my comment was a meme.

    2) You're ignoring current problems because we had some before. This tells me your dishonest.

    3) Killers are not currently at 70% killrate. Not after the changes to ruin. You are delusional if you currently believe that.

    4) You survivors, Not you survivors. I was making fun of the OP.

    5) You claim I'm tribalistic than have the audacity to post this - 'Thread after thread recently of killers whining about things like 'my poor hex ruin' and 'survivors cant deal' and 'But honestly at this stage and given the constant nerd rage I see from killers, it seems like they want 1 escape 3 kills.' So you are also a hypocrite.

This is what we call a knockout blow.

  • You know what else sucks the fun out of the game? People DCing.
