But a rank 1 survivor can face a level 11 killer thanks to SWF?

In what game you get an easier ranked game when you team up?

Usually the game matches you against harder opponents because they assume you have a team advantage.

So how is deranking as a killer bad but a survivor can simply join a SWF and chose a lower killer rank to face?

Keep in mind that this kind of gameplay is especially toxic against newer players.

Players that would help this game grow.

For survivors there are other rules

Deranking is part of the ranking system btw, whats needs to be adressed is the absurd high amount of DCs

I disagree. De-ranking on PURPOSE (seen mostly with killers, from what I've seen around here) is just bullshit. I have no idea how one would address this, but it is done, and it is a problem. I'm a rank 18 survivor. I should NEVER have to face a rank 1 killer who purposefully de-ranked to 15 just to vs lower players.

Why not? Rank reset does the same, just an example.
The problem is that there is literally no reason to rank up, you will only get punished by ranking up

Also dont forget about SWF.... guess thats ok for you

  • If you want to farm event currency, then you have to play survivor

As a survivor, if killer decides to camp/tunnel you that's probably gonna be a depip.
As a killer, i don't remember last time i depiped, honestly.

Anybody can get rank 1 on both sides, its not that much of a deal

I would like to be able to report people that were working with the killer after the fact. After viewing this Twitch streamers video and seeing that one of the survivors were on his friend list I noticed there was a reason for him to know where I was exactly at. The guy who died that was on his friends list was telling the killer where I was at. I can't report the guy with the current in-game report system after the game has been closed out. I would like to though. Thanks.

Wont become a thing due to witch hunting. All your fancy toxic streamers would throw thousands of reports onto a killer..... just imagine

I would like to report both of them actually. Streamer killer and the friend survivor.

So send a report with their names. You don’t have to settle for just the in-game report system.

You do, the devs can only take action if you filed an ingame report too

So, I've been around in the game since pre-Nurse. But since I almost only played killer, I suck at survivor (and, to a lesser extent, as killer too). I can't loop, I don't know totem or hatch places and I don't know good escape routes. I like the killer role and got rank 1 as killer around the time MM came out.
Lately, I've begun to play survivor more and more because it's less stressful. This resulted in me getting to rank 9 for the first time and I thought, hey, why not go for rank 1?

That was 3 days ago, so I went from "never played survivor enough to get past rank 10" to rank 1 in less than 3 days. I have learned some things about the game.

    1. ANYBODY can get rank 1 survivor. You don't even need to be good. I know I suck. I didn't believe it when people told me that getting to rank 1 was easy. It is. Just play a lot.

    2. You don't have to loop in order to win. As I said I can't loop. I play stealthily and try not to be found in the first place, or to run to areas where the killer would be at a disadvantage (too far from hooked survivors and/or generators, lots of cover). I didn't make statistics about my escape rate, but I'd say it was ~50% maybe?

    3. You don't need meme perks as long as you are used to your perks. I played ALL my games using what I found until level 41: Lithe 2, Self Care 2 (okay, this is somewhat meme, but it's rank 2), Alert 3 and Urban Evasion 3. I've grown to like these perks and whenever I play a different survivor for my daily I really miss each and every single one of them.

    4. Ragequitters are a problem at every rank. I had 6 ragequitters in 4 consecutive games. One time after the first player got hooked after 30 seconds of gameplay, he suicided and two others DCed. This happened at rank 3.

    5. While anybody can get rank 1, there IS a difference in quality of the games. Teammates don't try to lose the killer by running past other players. Everybody (almost) always does something worthwhile. People are more altruistic and they are smarter when unhooking. Nobody farmed, nobody endlessly crouched around campers who didn't leave the hook.

    6. Killers camp less. I had one facecamper (I have no idea why he did that, as I don't DS, loop, teabag or otherwise BS killers) and maybe 4 or 5 killers today who didn't leave the hook for more than 5 seconds. Most high rank killers willingly left the hook to chase other survivors. Most of them didn't even return when the unhook happened.

    7. Killers played at higher ranks are mostly Pig, Michael, Huntress, Nurse. No Trapper, no Legion. One of Hillbilly and Leatherface each. One Clown, one Wraith. A few Freddys and Spirits (though no Spirit since rank 3) and maybe 2 Docs and Hags each.

    8. NOED and Ruin are to be expected in every game. Nothing new here. Same as low ranks. I was surprised by the occasional Iron Maiden though!

    9. People at high ranks are extremely chill, even when they lose. Not a single flame. Salt, sometimes. But with a very "Canadian" feel to it, if you get what I'm saying.

So these are my experiences, fresh from the memory. I like playing at high ranks, but I'm afraid I can't always spare the time to get there each month.

    1. yes
    2. true
    3. you can play without any perks aswell, I always run WGLF and that chest perk (whats its name again  3. )
    4. A shame that DCing isnt punished properly
    5. True, but since everybody can reach rank1, there are also some complete potatoes up there
    6. Yes, camping only works against noobs
    7. I really rarely see myers, but apart from that I agree
    8. Of course, only tools to slow down the game atm (sadly)
    9. Well not everbody, but its maybe a bit more chill than purple ranks

Hi! How cool it sounds if survivors had a perk that allows you to pick two items. In order to escape the match and gain double the items. In game this could have a negative effect since both hands are occupied, so maybe survivors can’t jump windows while they carry two items. What you guys think?

What does the killer to balance things out?

Or revert the hooks. Either way please stop tampering with them until the DS problem is fixed first.

Considering hooks could spawn 10 feet apart from eachother before this change Id rather them stay the way they are now. Plus, DS without being the obsession was actually useless (Because all the hooks were right next to eachother) and you shouldnt be forced into having a useless perk because of RNG.

If people wanna bring DS, they should be allowed to because they used up 1 of their 4 perk slots for something that gives them 4s of escape time.

DS isnt just an end-all do-all perk, its just annoying, not game breaking. In a ton of the rank 1 survivor matches I play I hardly ever see people bring DS anymore and even if they do, it hardly ever wins the game for them unless they save it til the gates are powered.

    DS is gamebreaking

When did this happen? Feels like I noticed this too. Anytime I down someone in an area that someone else died. The nearest hook is impossible.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Some maps are unplayable now due to this. The hooks are miles apart.

I barely had an issue with hooks before this update whereas now I feel like I'm getting shafted quite a lot. Some spawn so far apart (without offerings) that it's impossible to get the survivor to another hook from one location. So you have one hook you can make it to, and once that is gone any survivors downed in that area now can not be hooked. Even more fun when the hatch spawns in that area. I've never seen so many survivors wiggle free, either playing as killer or survivor.

You can't use the excuse "be careful where you hook to not create a deadzone" when you physically can't make it to another hook.

More importantly one perk in the game makes this much, much worse - Decisive Strike.

The hooks are often now so far apart that it's extremely easy to hit the 35%. I've never seen so many non-obsession DS.

Why would you do this? you say you want to nerf DS, so why on earth would you mess with the hooks BEFORE changing DS? why? it makes no sense. You've just buffed the hell out of that perk.

You either need to nerf DS immediately or change the hooks back. This new system has a lot of flaws. I dread to think what it would be like when survivors stack offerings.

    You need to slugg now.

Honestly, im fed up a bit and am playing other games atm. (screw the event anyway) I hope enough other killers take a break too such that BHVR has to take action

No, its the killer red stain that you can see through everything

Like I mean. Its more important that the Killer can see the survivors through walls than the survivor seeing the killer through walls

That would be the case in a normal horror game. However, in DBD a survivor that is aware of the killers loaction can simply loop him. If the survivor can see you at any time, there are no mindgames and you have too run out the loops like an idiot which is the biggest design flaw DBD has (next to hatch mechanic)

Yes it sounds ridiculous, but DBD Is not a hiding game where you actually have to be scared of the monster. You have plenty of safe zones and loops you can carry out straight forward without having to fear anything since you can always see the killer

Sounds like a fundamental problem with the game that is beyond the scope of this suggestion.

I really wish this game was more of a stealth game. I love hide and seek games.

Me too, but unfortunately the survivor side dictates where this game has went. THe early days of DBD were a lot more hide and seek since survivors were actually scared of the killer, the exploit called looping hasnt existed yet since killers and survivors had the same hitbox. The only negative point was the existence of infinites, but luckily barely anyone abused them.

It's that whole motivation thing. If people that already survived, SWFs or not, get to keep their stuff, don't you think that would be even more motivation for a killer to not DC out of rage? I'm not seeing how else that could be exploited.

******And TBH if you've already survived I'm not sure why a DC'd killer would effect you.******

***** If you'd like to give an example how that's exploitable and unfair I'd appreciate it.*****
(sorry for double post, didn't quote you)

Not sure if I am understand you correctly. Are you suggesting that survivors should keep their offerings when they escape? So the killer keeps offerings/addos then too or what?

If you already survived, the game is over for you and a killer DC doesnt affect you at all

No. I'm saying I don't see how else SWF could exploit getting to keep their offerings due to a disconnect. How could it be exploited by a SWF group?

    you said:

Even if DCing gets punished everyone else get's punished too- and no amount of bloodpoints can fix that. I want to play the game, I want to use my abilities, I want to have fun not just earn points. Don't get me wrong, I think DCing should be punished but as it is, I think not punishing everyone else is even more important, so if someone drops the game, you don't have to get mad, you can just move on because all they did was hurt themselves.

This means that if any player DCs in the game, all others keep their stuff, but this also means that only one player of the SWF has to take the penalty since the other ones wouldnt be punished if a DC happened.

  • @yobuddd said:
After offerings are revealed and everyone waits for the game to load, the killer enters the game to place a hex totem in a custom spot. Now this will be a very small portion of the map about the size of the basement. It will be quickly (poorly) rendered so as to not drastically increase overall load time for all players.

Once a totem is placed, he instantly appears in a random location to do the same with the next hex. Altogether he is given 15 or so seconds and if he runs out of time, remaining totems are automatically placed at random like normal.

Since I’m not sure of how feasible this would be without drastically changing the loading process, here are some alternatives:

—Instead of rendering the map portion, the killer sees a top-down view of it with a visible grid of floor tiles to choose from.

—While loading every match, the killer places all totems (dull and hex) until time is up. If loading time increases, survivors won’t be tipped off as they will understand that totems are being placed each game regardless of hexes.

Concern: Is it unfair for the killer to know which hex he is placing the totem for?

Concern: is it unfair for the killer to know which map is being played before the survivors enter the game?

The problem with this is the insane effort such a implementation would take (I guess).

Both your concerns are not a big deal if you ask me

People dont seem to realize that SWF is so "Broken" because It has "a good rank system". Those people that play SWF are solo players that know every trick in the game and just got tired of playing with people who dont have te same lvl of skill as them.

The only way to balance the game is by fixing the rank system so that everyone stays at the rank they deserve and then buff all killers to be viable at those ranks.

While that is definitely necessary too, it doesnt adress the balance gap between solo and SWF

The only thing Id like to change is that there should be weekly challenges or sth similar that would be significantly harder and more rewarding

I don't even know what to do about them anymore, if my game isn't a 3 man these days from the ######### servers DCing someone mid match it's a game against people who have hundreds of hours on me all communicating together. Gotten to the point that I am no longer having fun playing Killer, and I don't enjoy Survivor, this has pushed me to the edge of uninstalling with how utterly frustrating dealing with SWFs is. I'm a Pig main, obviously by the avatar choice, and now that I've been playing through the purple ranks and dealing with mostly red rank parties (just got destroyed by 3 red ranks and a rank 19 SWF); I have to ask myself is it even worth playing?

This game seems to encourage a Peter principle when it comes to playing, as I'm now running into players that playing and winning against is a chore in and of itself. "Git gud" is the usual answer here, but if getting better just means I eventually hit the red ranks and am stuck in nothing but frustrating matches with no alternatives other than to play some busted killer to do well instead of one I enjoy, I don't see why I should bother playing my heart out.

Is there anything I can even do to beat SWFs that are all spread out and working together, letting each other know when I'm in a chase so they can work on gens, or blinding me and running perfect loops. It seems like as soon as I knock one down, a generator goes off across the map or my totem explodes, and I have to choose between dealing with that person who is down and also more than likely has their flashlight friend running up to blind me or their toolbox buddy sabo'ing the hooks, or trying to put pressure on my gens.

TL;DR: This sucks, I'm not having fun anymore because of SWFs and the ranking system. What can I do?

There are a lot of interesting games on sale atm. Ive bought some too and will take a longer break from DBD until the devs fix at least some of the major balancing issues

Yes, but you cant just hand away free stuff for the ones being stuck in the game, especially not since SWF is a thing. DCing must be prevented in the first case and thats how EVERY other game handles it too

I'm not asking for free stuff, I'm asking to keep my stuff. And if A survivor DCs I don't think it's so farfetch to think the killer should get to keep his stuff either.

Yes, but that means that a 4 man SWF can easily dodge a killer and only one guy loses his stuff. If SWF werent a thing, then we could talk about that, but unfortunately SWF can easily exploit this

It's that whole motivation thing. If people that already survived, SWFs or not, get to keep their stuff, don't you think that would be even more motivation for a killer to not DC out of rage? I'm not seeing how else that could be exploited. And TBH if you've already survived I'm not sure why a DC'd killer would effect you.

If you'd like to give an example how that's exploitable and unfair I'd appreciate it.
(sorry for double post, didn't quote you)

Not sure if I am understand you correctly. Are you suggesting that survivors should keep their offerings when they escape? So the killer keeps offerings/addos then too or what?

If you already survived, the game is over for you and a killer DC doesnt affect you at all

I'm 100% done with this happening. Can someone tell me the best way to get heard on this issue? Because it has GOT TO GO.

The biggest hope we have is that DCing will finally be punished when dedicated servers arrive

Why in the world is this still a thing? Seriously.

WHY THE **** DO I LOSE MY OFFERING AND ADDON WHEN SURVIVORS DECIDE TO DC?

Why in the world is this still a thing? Seriously.

I appreciate your response, all the responses this post can get will hopefully get the attention it needs.

I mean, when a survivor DC's there's still 3 other people in the game hopefully, and the survivors have less of a chance at surviving, but at least the game keeps going- if the killer DC's the whole game ends.

But to be honest.... If a survivor DC's and that meant the Killer was able to keep his offerings/addons then that'd probably help at least a smidgen with DC's. And that's totally fine by me.

SWF DC in groups, you can be luckily if they suicide onthe hook such that you can get a BBQ stack at least.
Btw, a killer gets 2,5k BP for compensation for ALL 4 DCs in total while he loses ALL his stuff. As survivor EACH one gets 5k AND keeps his items

    25k BP??

Also I know there's some balancing issues- but again, I have nothing against the killer getting to keep his items and offering if there's DCers. That's a ######### reason to lose all your stuff when you didn't necessarily do anything wrong.

    2,5k BP = 2500 BP

Somehow for the event the hitboxes are even worse. I will be over a window, running, and still get hit from the other side.
Sometimes the killer will be looking a different direction completely and still hit you. Really makes playing survivor a chore instead of fun. Hitboxes need too be fixed.

Play killer, you will get really frustrated with the new pallet system and when you get autoaimed into stuff

autoaimed into stuff? you mean like walls, barrels, pallets, hooks etc?

    Yes

I've seen a few people alluding to it on reddit, I've seen killers miss a few weird swings against me and hit pallets which doesn't normally happen, but most of all yes I've felt the auto-aim pull me into stuff. Really annoying as Nurse. In fact that I it happen in one of truetalents streams earlier.

    Guess it's official then. sigh

I thought nurse doesnt have this kind of auto aim, but I can confirm it on "normal" killers^^
But ya know, pallets got buffed too with the longer stun animation. Its really pathetic how the devs throw in the shadow nerfs and the pallet aim bug will probably fixed in half a year or sth

I've definitely had the same issue as Nurse where it pulls me towards objects.

Guessing once the toxic survivors find out they'll try and force it to happen. Sure 1 has already.

You can bet on that, but since I avoid the red ranks anyway.....

Cause surprise attacks help keep the game in line with the horror genre. They also feel so much better than watching the killer approach after x-seconds of warning. There shouldn't be any point in a match where you feel secure enough to dismiss danger.

DBD being a horror game, thats a meme itself.....
