The biggest hope we have is that DCing will finally be punished when dedicated servers arrive

    Every DC have a reason.

Whatever the reason, I just don't want to lose my stuff when someone DC's. Let me feel like nothing happened at all. ):

  • Just got out of a game that I didn't give any offerings but another guy used a birthday cake before killer DC'd. Not saying it was intentional but that guy still lost cake. Just updating since I still think "WHY THE **** DO I LOSE MY OFFERINGS STILL?" is a valid question that has yet to be answered.

I saw somewhere else someone suggest people being kicked back to lobby if there's any DC at the start. I agree that it stinks when you lose your offerings to a DC. I think killers should keep their stuff, too, if there's a DC as their things aren't being used as intended. If they don't just kick you back to lobby.

The more I think about it the more problems I'm running into though. Because my idea about the killer getting to keep their stuff if a survivor DC's wouldn't work if everyone had to leave a game. If everyone had to leave a game, wouldn't it be fair if survivors got to keep their stuff as well? Would it only be survivors who aren't in the same SWFs group? Who would get to keep their bloodpoints?

So I equip my Dull Key and put White Ward up, start the match and BAM! killer disconnects wasting my White Ward.

Talk about a sore loser, the mentality of "If I cant have fun no one can" has no place in this game.

If losing your offerings when a Killer disconnects is a thing why is this not a banable offense?

I'm sure that's a lot of people who would get banned and a lot of money lost. The more people who can play the more they'll buy and the more friends they can get to play as well. TBH I think this is a developer issue. If they want to punish DCers, fine. But what I want is to not be affected by it. If they want us to keep calm and move on, then don't take away my stuff because someone else decided to do something #########.

Yes, but that means that a 4 man SWF can easily dodge a killer and only one guy loses his stuff. If SWF werent a thing, then we could talk about that, but unfortunately SWF can easily exploit this

It's that whole motivation thing. If people that already survived, SWFs or not, get to keep their stuff, don't you think that would be even more motivation for a killer to not DC out of rage? I'm not seeing how else that could be exploited.

******And TBH if you've already survived I'm not sure why a DC'd killer would effect you.******

***** If you'd like to give an example how that's exploitable and unfair I'd appreciate it.*****
(sorry for double post, didn't quote you)

Not sure if I am understand you correctly. Are you suggesting that survivors should keep their offerings when they escape? So the killer keeps offerings/addos then too or what?

If you already survived, the game is over for you and a killer DC doesnt affect you at all

No. I'm saying I don't see how else SWF could exploit getting to keep their offerings due to a disconnect. How could it be exploited by a SWF group?

    you said:

Even if DCing gets punished everyone else get's punished too- and no amount of bloodpoints can fix that. I want to play the game, I want to use my abilities, I want to have fun not just earn points. Don't get me wrong, I think DCing should be punished but as it is, I think not punishing everyone else is even more important, so if someone drops the game, you don't have to get mad, you can just move on because all they did was hurt themselves.

This means that if any player DCs in the game, all others keep their stuff, but this also means that only one player of the SWF has to take the penalty since the other ones wouldnt be punished if a DC happened.

If a killer DC's the game is over. You're right, the only reason why someone should be able to keep their stuff is if it's the killer DCing because even if there's only one person who didn't DC the game can continue. No survivor should get to keep their items/offerings because another survivor DC'd.

I don't want to neccarily punish the DC'ers. I want to have a good time, I get mad because I lost my offering that was hella good because of a killer DCer. If a survivor DC's I still get to play, even if it's more difficult.

So to sum it up, your suggestion is if the killer DCs => survivor (all of the alive ones) get back their offering
A survivor DCs => killer gets his addons and offerings back but survivor dont get anything

Yes. If there were any balance issues with this, I'd honestly remove 1 generator necessary to power up the exit gate (depending on when a survivor DC's) but to keep it sweet and simple- I'd rather just focus on getting to keep my offerings, and I think it's fair if a killer gets to keep their items/offerings as well (depending on who DC'd). Ignore my suggestion about the generators. I don't think it's -that- unfair, and even if it can screw over the other survivors (hence the genny idea) That's just a what-if scenario, it's not why I'm here.

Why in the world is this still a thing? Seriously.

I appreciate your response, all the responses this post can get will hopefully get the attention it needs.

I mean, when a survivor DC's there's still 3 other people in the game hopefully, and the survivors have less of a chance at surviving, but at least the game keeps going- if the killer DC's the whole game ends.

But to be honest.... If a survivor DC's and that meant the Killer was able to keep his offerings/addons then that'd probably help at least a smidgen with DC's. And that's totally fine by me.

SWF DC in groups, you can be luckily if they suicide onthe hook such that you can get a BBQ stack at least.
Btw, a killer gets 2,5k BP for compensation for ALL 4 DCs in total while he loses ALL his stuff. As survivor EACH one gets 5k AND keeps his items

    25k BP??

Also I know there's some balancing issues- but again, I have nothing against the killer getting to keep his items and offering if there's DCers. That's a ######### reason to lose all your stuff when you didn't necessarily do anything wrong.

  • Does anyone from the dev team actually respond to these because this isn't like a 'maybe this will help fix the game' suggestion, this is a seriously ######### situation that makes no sense. It's frustrating to have to keep backing out and inviting your friends back into your group- but it does not compare to losing rare items/offerings because a killer decides to DC. I would -really- appreciate an explanation as to why this wasn't the first thing that's been fixed with this game. I've been playing a while and there have been so many patches and updates and this issue STILL exists????

  • Explain to me why this is fair or why this hasn't been fixed yet because there are certain offerings I have been saving for MONTHS to use with friends and I lose it because someone else, not even in my friend group does something the killer doesn't like and they decide to rage quit so I am punished for it? I'm fuming right now.

It's much faster to simply power through the ruin, than tap even if you can't get hit those hex skill checks.

I just started using gen tapping- it works way better than powering through.

Practice Great Skill Checks. If you can hit Great Skill Checks every time, generators will take 80 seconds. If you tap, however, there's a short period where you can't interact with the generator every single time, and it quickly adds up.

Hey Orion, are you stalking me or is this all you do with your time?

I joined in May and have got over 5100 and no that's not what his advice is even if the end result is that's what happens.

If you practice your great skill checks you can ignore Ruin and stockpile the bonus bp pretty quickly to boot.

    http://mistersyms.com/tools/gitgud/index

It's a skillcheck simulator where you can practice to your heart's content.

Thank you, I didn't know anything like this existed.

Solution. Maybe increase 3 or 5% penalty hooked time for camping in radius of 10m (safe distance) of hook. Help other gen rush and get out.

Anything would be better than what we have now. I really think there should be a penalty, so even a 3 or 5% penalty sounds great. (:

u all wrong, gentapping takes more time yes, but you do not trigger explosions

Also gen tapping, if you can't get great skill checks, helps prevent the removal of progress when you get a skill check. You can also look for the totem, which I do, but some games it's just so well hidden it's faster to gen tap.

We disagree strongly and we're not going to agree. Is there any chance I'm going to change your mind? No. So you can leave now. I think face camping is huge issue, you don't. You think 'easy unhooks' are a thing. I don't. I have made it very clear that I think whatever you're trying to feed me is opinion, and we disagree very strongly. I started off my topic with a 'suggestion' this is not fact, I did not say it would work. But I have been bombarded with people who clearly don't play survivor, and you really laughably don't sound like you play much survivor. One person just said it's not viable without saying why, another person recited what I already said doesn't work, and then there's you. The majority of players don't like camping but we would need other mechanics to make camping redundant. Your suggestion isn't a solution, sorry. That doesn't mean that you should stop making suggestions if you can come up with good ideas. :)

I'd like to think the majority doesn't like camping but if it's an issue than clearly not enough people dislike it. I don't have any statistics on this, so I'll have to take your word for it.

How is my suggestion not a solution?

Your suggestion is not a solution because:

    • Camping should always be an option for the Killer. Forcing the Killer to give free unhooks only makes hooks even less relevant than they already are.
    • Camping is inherently bad for the Killer, regardless of your excuses that "not everyone plays SWF". Your opponent is doing nothing for two full minutes.
    • It was already tried in the PTB and Survivors abused it.
    • Camping is a symptom; not a problem. Giving a blood transfusion to someone with a severed femoral artery and ignoring the wound is not a solution.
    • Camping is a Survivor-created problem with a Survivor-side solution. Like it or not, camping became widespread due to Survivors rewarding it.

Genuinely I feel like you all 3 are just killer mains. I get that survivors abused a system that attempted to thwart people who use camping.
That's all you needed to say.

I don't agree with you on your other_ opinions_.

The last part, at the very least, is not an opinion. It's a documented fact that anyone who's played the game since release can tell you. Back in the beginning, Survivors knew to rush gens when the Killer was camping. Nowadays, they want to force free unhooks.

By the way, even if the rest are opinions doesn't mean pointing that out makes them invalid. This entire thread is your opinion, but you don't see anyone dismissing it out of hand because of it.

lol. you came here to tell me my suggestion isn't a solution because of a slew of opinions, and one fact.
The whole "handing out free unhooks" I don't hear that from people who play killer and survivor. Just killer mains. "Gen rush" okay okay okay. So survivors do 3 things. They unhook, they heal, the only way they can leave is doing gens. They can't block the gens, they can't do anything other than use tool boxes to do the gens. Gen rush isn't a thing. That's not an opinion, that's just fact.

Killers need to get hooks, you lose points if you hang around someone who is hooked because it's discouraged. It's not acceptable behavior. That's a fact.

Your opinion is not a fact either, so I'm not sure why you expect me - or anyone else - to come in here with objective truths when you come to us with opinions.

I objectively told you facts, they're not just to 'fit my narrative' it's you, who plays killer, talking about how 'why wouldn't I got the easier route" RIGHT. So if YOU the player aren't going to be held accountable for your poor behavior then the devs need to step in with a better solution. I'm getting tired of trying to explain to killer mains why camping shouldn't be viable. You can tell me all day long why you want to continue to play poorly for easy kills and turning around saying 'oh the survivors have it easy' but they don't, it's a tough game and if the killer so chooses they can ruin the game for everyone else because why? because they can. Not because they get more points, a higher skill. It's discouraged already but you think it should still be acceptable because it's easier. The kill already has all the power against 4 other people. This one particular issue should be fixed, and it's fine if you don't like my suggestion, just don't bullshit me with your opinion on why you don't see it as a problem.

  • @Orion said:

    @wouldntyouliketoknow said:
Seriously, I can't believe you. 'Gen rushing', 'free unhooks', if you do play survivor, it's not often. Face camping/ camping ruins the game for a lot of people. THAT is the cheap and easy way, again, shown by how many points you don't get when you play this way. I don't think survivor is coddled the way you think it is, but I do think you feel that way as a killer main who would like easy kills.

    Well, that's just your opinion.

Hahahahahaha, have a wonderful night, and go play more survivor. You really need it.

People think it takes 2 minutes to do a gen with 3 survivors while also knowing right off the bat that a killer is camping.

I agree, the killers should be punished for this behavior. Theres other toxic things killers do, but this one right here, if you play more than just killer, know that it ruins the game for everyone else. As much as people want to cry 'counter it' they're not the ones in these games that have to experience it.

I personally (even when I lose) thank the killer for not camping (if they don't) and they tell me "NP, I never camp, I also play survivor" If that doesn't speak volumes then nothing will.

Killers should not be punished for not providing free unhooks.

You can keep calling it 'free unhooks' but if thats how you view it you suck as killer. You're supposed to hook people multiple times, you get way more points than if you just hook everyone once, thanks for your opinion though.

What would you call an unhook that takes no skill and carries no risk? I call it "free", but maybe you use another expression for it. Handed on a silver platter? Given, not earned? Skill-less? The possibilities are endless.

why the hell are you guys fighting over free unhooks, your correct orion, in my opinion, because you do nothing to earn it

I'm fighting about camping. Orion wants to call it free hooks. > @Orion said:

I agree, the killers should be punished for this behavior. Theres other toxic things killers do, but this one right here, if you play more than just killer, know that it ruins the game for everyone else. As much as people want to cry 'counter it' they're not the ones in these games that have to experience it.

I personally (even when I lose) thank the killer for not camping (if they don't) and they tell me "NP, I never camp, I also play survivor" If that doesn't speak volumes then nothing will.

Killers should not be punished for not providing free unhooks.

Again, you can call it whatever you want. If the objective was to hook people once and be done, you'd be getting all the points for it, but you don't. Hooking people once and every one dying gets you ######### for points vs chase, and multiple hooks- even if no one dies you get way more points. And again, if you actually played survivor you'd understand. But very very clearly you don't.

I do play Survivor. Difference is, I don't complain about hooks being dangerous, or not getting free unhooks, or not being saved. Because I recognize that Survivor is the weak role and isn't supposed to have nearly as many safety nets as it does.

Seems like you use facecamping in the terminology "hard camping". Thats fine, but you should know that facecamping used to be the terminology that the killer moves himself in the hitbox of the hooked survivor and thus disables all other survivors from getting an unhook attemp, just to avoid confusion......

    > A killer comitting to "facecamping" surenders the game, the remaining 3 survivors can simply knock out all gens and leave the game. If you dont wanna do that and throw yourself against the camping killer, then thats your decision

    Regarding your suggestion:
First of all, define "near a hooked survivor".
Second of all the chsae detection is completely broken and is thus a really bad condition for such a mechanic. For example at the tree loop in the corn, you lose chase over and over again even though you are running after a survivor within a few meters.

You say genrush isnt a thing, just a survivor doing his objective, but isnt a camping killer doing his objective too? :sarcastic: /s

I already covered why "simply knocking out all the gens" isn't realistic.
    Here:

** It upsets me everyone assumes you're playing with friends and they can tell you the killer is face camping them. When you're playing alone (and this is a team based game for survivors, none of this 'oh why did you even check' BS) you're going to waste a lot of time running up (from wherever you were at) and seeing the killer is refusing to let a person go. It's cheap, boring, unfair, and mind boggling this issue has not been fixed. **

Ive heard all the excuses how face camping can be countered and this isn't one of them.

My definition of 'near a hooked survivor' is within a terror radius or if the survivor is in line of sight. I originally added to my idea that if the killer is chasing someone, then the survivors life depletes as normal. Even if this mechanic is 'broken' it is still in favor of the killer, so it'd be harder for survivors to abuse. I'll explain:

if the killer is in chase mode, the bar depletes as normal. So if the killer loses sight of someone he is chasing (but is still in chase mode) while he's around a person that's hooked, that person can still go into phase 2 and die as normal.

    This is better than nothing.

I know I've been reported - honestly not hurting my feelings. If you act like a [insert every imaginable pejorative term here] in game, I'm going to happily, and in vivid detail tell you that you're a [insert every imaginable pejorative term here] after the game, regardless of whether or not the devs believe it's more acceptable to act like a bch than to tell someone they were acting like a bch.

I'm not sure what words/language you use. I get getting frustrated and sharing that frustration. I don't report everyone that gets salty- it's how you get salty. It is just a game, and to try to cut someone deep because of a game is.... if that's the kind of person (general)you want to be, then that's the kind of person you want to be. I get to move on.

But I draw a line when you start threatening or wishing death upon a person. When you start using hate speech and discrimination which are real world problems beyond a video game. And if the community decides it's bad enough to report, I think it's worth considering you should stop and re-assess the way you go about things, or if you should even be playing PVP games if it enrages you to that point.

Which is why I'd really like a black list to just ignore people that lash out uncontrollably at people in game.

Welcome to Dead by Daylight - Unfortunately, community is mostly trash :(

I've been playing for a while, and like I said, it gets bad but there's a line I draw. Hell, if we had a way to effect these players I bet it would help with the toxicity.

As soon as there is a system in place to somehow cause problems for someone for their speech in a game, it will get abused. SWF with 3 players and you're the 4th and they antagonize you until you burst out with something. 3x report and you're on the chopping block. Happens in League of Legends all the time. I've gotten infractions there for "arguing" with someone who was being toxic while they got off free and clear.

I've heard of this sort of thing happening, but I think it's worth the risk. I think when someone reports another person it saves the dialogue which it's much easier to save and read through with the small amount of interaction time we have before and after games, so those wrongly accused have some kind of defense.

Truly though, if -anything- I want a black list. Perhaps the reporting system won't work- but if I can just make sure I don't get a game with that person or group again, I can just be happy I wont see their face again during game.

  • @Avariku said:
there absolutely should be a way to avoid players you don't want to be paired up with anymore.
I've been saying that since I started playing this game. Some of the people in this community have no business being able to interact with others the way they do and to do it without punishment is insulting.

I completely agree! Have the devs said anything about updating tactics to confront toxicity?

Yeah, once they start saying things that are hate speech, or wishing death/harm upon another player and you respond with whatever be it "everyone please report" "That's not okay" "you're being childish" Whatever you say to them they don't give 2 s**ts. Why? because nothing is going to happen to them. Doesn't make sense to me. Like reporting is supposed to make me feel better but really, I just want to never play with them again, and this would, if enough people felt the same about another person, would mess with THEIR que times so hopefully people would attempt to behave better.

Reporting for psn messages definitely will result in a psn ban if they used hate speech or verbal abuse and harassed you.

Sorry for the dumb question, but what's PSN?

Also, it's good to know they'll get a ban, but I also want the option of using that as a reason to black list them. Really! Not everyone is toxic!

Yeah, I hate playing against him. He feels like he has handicaps that prevent a fair game. Seriously he isn't chasing you but you're close enough? Location given away. Is there a survivor hiding over here? Don't look just shock the ######### out of the area. What that didn't work so you know no one is close to you so you're trying to figure out where everyone is? Just wait and look for the madness doctors to pop up OR for them to randomly scream and give away their location. Gee wiz so much survivor fun!

  • @will_i_am_14_85 said:
Gen rushing works to get through the escape gates as quickly as possible and tunnelling is a valid strategy as it gets one survivor out of the game early, it works, i'll give you an example of a game I just had.

The game before there were 3 survivors with DS, I was in a bad mood, next game loads in and I see a Laurie has Object of Obsession (as well as DS no doubt) so I make the decision to tunnel her and kill her quickly, the result? I get a 4K (Well 3k as I felt bad and gave last survivor hatch)

Doing gens to open escape gates is the main priority of survivors. Besides bringing in lunchboxes there isn't really any way to make sure you're doing gens faster, not easily. Definitely not easily.

I don't believe being in a bad mood equals okay to tunnel, most killers that don't do the above tactics play enough survivor to know how it feels and avoid it- they avoid it because even though it's easier, it seriously ruins the game for the people you're playing against. They aren't bots they're people. And those same killers who are respectful generally still get everyone or almost everyone. It's still a good time.

But like I said, I feel like if the above issues were fixed tunneling would be more difficult giving tunneled survivors more of a chance to evade.

  • @The_Crusader said:
I agree with a lot of what you said.

Don't get me wrong, there are some survivors who are just babies and would rage quit no matter what.

However there are some who are disconnecting because the salt from the past 10 crappy games they had has been building up. Then they get into a habit of disconnecting.

When you get ######### game after ######### game its no surprise they're on edge. Everyone just wants to find a good enjoyable game. They do exist but they seem rare these days.

Maybe if the hatch was invisible to the killer? And only the survivor could see/hear it? That way the killer would be running around looking for the survivor rather than the hatch. Meanwhile the survivor would be trying to stealth around for the hatch.

That's not a bad idea! Anything to fix the current situation.... 10 crappy games in a row is being generous. T:
