  • It's frustrating gameplay, but toxic it is not. If you have a flashlight, the opportunity and want to protect your fellow survivors, then anyone would absolutely do the same.

Best thing to do is decide what may work best. As mentioned earlier, Franklin's and Lightborn are ideal if yoi spot this in the lobby. Failing that, understanding they plan on playing aggressively and close together means that you could consider playing to slug them. Afterall, a downed survivor cannot blind you.

The locker bit is a bastard, because you can only pick up that way. Lightborn would save you there, but that's the only method available. So, since that is a lose-lose situation, the only thing to do is leave them amd figure out how to bait them away from lockers close together, and move them somewhere safer, because they're clearly gonna stick with you, thereby not doing gens.

So, I honestly wouldn't view this as toxic, but as a tactic the survivors are going by. Like a game plan during a football match. That way, you're taking the power away from them by coming up with counter-measures, owning what you can do and thereby empowering yourself.

  • It's risky, but one way to bait a killer is by initially pretending you're not good. Either throw a pallet down for no reason at the start, which may make the killer think you're nervous; if it's safe - do not immediately take corners optimally (basically, don't hug the wall); if the killer sees you from a distance that you notice, immediately crouch walk until they're a bit nearer, as if trying to crouch to a hiding place.

If you're really confident, allow yourself to get hit initially. These tactics can get a killer annoyed, wondering why the survivor who clearly was terrible when they saw them is somehow harder to get. May make them question their own ability.

For comparison, one on the left is free. One on the right costs 11 Euros/Pounds. Could you tell the difference when he is sprinting after you at 9.2 metres per second?

Not so much as to discern whether it was bought or not, no. The weapon is the only giveaway, and even then in the trial I wouldn't be thinking about it. I'd just see it come up for free on the rift and assume that.

Also, fairness aside, it seems like a strange move for a company to release an outfit originally paid for solely out or Auric Cells to then give away a slightly retextured one for free! It doesn't make any financial sense, and whoever was in charge of deciding how to price outfits has done a poor job.

It's like, I do really appreciate the opportunity to buy or spend shards on cosmetics from the rifts, but when it comes to that, price any outfits on the free track as iridescent shards and Auric Cells, and price outfits on the paid track as Auric only, so not as to belittle pirchases made by people spending money on it.

I've not done a single paid track for the rift, so I'm benefitting effectively by buying cosmetics that had to be paid by Auric Cells with Shards, and even though it's in my favour I don't understand the fairness in it. I'd rather those who pay for paid track cosmetics be valued as such.

It's kinda like the clowns elephant costume. Also, I unlocked the clown after I earned elephant stuff on the rift. As a result, I never got my elephant head or outfit.

Yeah, I reckon this isn't really fair. Besides, what's really odd is that actually they would be making money if they were to do things this way, so whoever is in charge of pricing these cosmetics is doing a poor job - missing out on a money-making opportunity such as this.

Oddly, it's the one time a company can squeeze extra money out of its customers, and be seen as both fair and legitimately doing so! It does feel like a unusual business-making decisions.

i do too...he did buy it and not long ago! if we knew this he wouldn't of, its not on, esp if just say someone who has been saving up and up for something as i am sure peeps do, and then its a slap in the face its not right

Not that it may help, but I've put this issue into Feedback for BHVR to look into, because I'm rather bemused at the fact I can now get a free version with a better weapon on an outfit people such as yourself need to pay for out of Auric Cells.

I'm not sure how well they'll look into it, but I agree this feels grossly unfair.

Uh it was a hillbilly summer one, long like beard, a horse leg as a weapon, floral like shirt, he bought it not that long ago, before the rift etc and with money but now it comes in the rift for free? it's not acceptable esp he has just then recently paid as bug fixes made ps5 more playable due to flickering, 30 pound on two consmetics to very much support BHVR and the game.

I've just compared them and .. ummm ... yeah.

Other than the weapon, they are just complete reshades, and that mallet weapon in the rift could arguably be considered a better looking weapon than a slab of meat with spikes in them.

If the recolour was of something in the green or yellow cosmetics, and they wefen't Auric only then there could be a fair argument made, but if the one Mushwin bought was an Auric only ...

    @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

Yes it is Auric Cells only. Anyone who paid 1080 AC for what they beleive is exclusive will be rather annoyed that now everyone gets it for free.

... and this confirms it. Well, yeah this is quite a cheap move BHVR. I empathise fully with Mushwin here.

  • Which outfits are these? Because if one was to be paid for and the other free, and the only difference being a change in colouring (especially if the original is an expensive one), then yeah that's questionable!

  • With regards to NOED, I'll refer to my last round when I played Trapper against 2 brown ranks survivors (although 1 had a varied mix of perks, and acted in a way that suggested skills far in excess of a new player), and 2 red ranks at number 1. It is highly likely those 2 at least were in communication by how they were playing and co-ordinating. Both were excellent players. I had double-hooked one of them and 1 hooked another when the final gen was done.

When the 5 gens were done, the 2 reds were left. One had been hooked and the other finished the final gen, but was wounded. They risked themselves to unhook their friend, and I downed her after that from her injured state. The Adam had Adrenaline and came off the hook fully healed. I chased him and downed him with an activated NOED. 4k.

So, I feel that in certain situations such as this, NOED balanced the playing field as a direct counter to Adrenaline in that match. So it certainly gives credibility that in certain cases it's absolutely a fair counter to such situations, yet also has many situations where it may be too powerful, and some where it becomes a wasted slot. One match as survivor I was cleansing a totem when the 5th gen popped and the totem lit up as I was doing it! A few seconds later and it was gone. The killer had zero use.

But ultimately it's a perk that has its place, can be used as an endgame tactic or an insurance policy against perks or add-ons that give quick heals. It could be used by "bad" killers, but that viewpoint does carry a level of bitterness with it. It's got its place, has counter and actually holds one of the very few terror aspects left in this game. So ultimately, although they could take away the speed bonus (which feels useless anyway), it's fair to keep it in.

If, by proxy, the SCP universe is inclusive in the CreepyPasta universes, then by rights those same deities the SCP deals with will be a back up. And there's a lot of deities and powerful beings to contend with!

If that's the case, even the Sun Goddess from Silent Hill may have a tough time of it.

  • I'm on Xbox One and it's a vastly better experience. It's lost a lot of the stutters or lags, runs smoothly and the hit registration feels way more fair.

  • It's much better thab before. I'm not surr if you've tried removing all the cache by disconnecting the Xbox from all cables for a bit before reattaching. That may have some use.

There's this page to help with too:

You breathe a sigh of relief because you are not done yet, you still need to respawn and win the next round.   These intermittent freezes are something you should not ignore – they are signs that your Xbox needs some TLC.

Other than that and checking the internet speed, it's strange how the results of the patch can be so different for people using the same console. If it is this widely different, then it's quite probably not just an issue with the patch alone.

  • Well, here's my attempt:

    ghost-ship-dvd2-1.jpg

  • Lots of potential for a killer who uses hooks and chains to either propel himself across the map, or drag survivors towards then, or even hold things in place.

Even something like a pain status that makes survivors randomly scream and get temporary random inflictions like hindered or blind, etc..

  • I don't feel there are boring killers in terms of playstyle for me.

However, I do have an issue with Legion being a boring design. A bunch of hoodies is just very dull and difficult to take seriously for me. But for others it may be a pure nightmare!

  • I'm failing to see what is actually toxic about a survivor escaping a killer by using loops and vaults, since that's a core part of surviving. It sounds more like a frustration with chases, so maybe what will help is looking to when to break chases, trying to isolate a few gens for a 3 gen scenario and being very unpredictable to keep them guessing. It takes practice, but it does work, and looping ultimately wastes the killer's time, especially on longer loops. Changing tact is a good way to keep the flow of the game unpredictably in your favour.

Again, with freeform builds, it is certainly possible to do well with them. You can bring Distressing and Thrill Of The Hunt in with no perk that they'd be useful with and still win. But again, it involves thinking about how best to play the round. I've won and lost to very skilled players with this, and the losses I can count to not just their skills, but errors on my behalf such as engaging in a chase for too long, or failing to be as territorial. If you master the mindgames behind perks, nearly any perk is useful, especially if the other side doesn't expect it!

I still remember one survivor claiming I was hacking when I found them in a very specific locker, when in fact Spies From The Shadows on the Game for once triggered a crow near that same locker!

It may be hard to do at times, but it's actually better to look at what you can do to improve your overall game. I'm still doing that now and focusing more on tactics than perks, and it is far more empowering to look at the experiences as opportunities to learn how to improve, rather than get angered by the other side - because you have no power to change their abilities. Focus on understanding where you can change the tide: which areas to lead survivors into; where to hook them; how to narrow the field of play. It's as much an ever-expanding canvas of art, as it is a playfield. I wish you well.

People are saying that the RPD map still causes crashes. DC penalties returning may take longer than expected. We shall see.

Yeah, I've read that too. Another option would be to disable that map until further notice, that would allow the penalties to come back, and when the map is repaired and they want to test it, do it in a ptb with no penalties and see how it works out. If the other maps work well, then that would be the best state of play, I reckon.

  • Slap a Blood Warden and NOED, and I'd say you'll have nightmare Freddy Krueger himself would be truely proud of!

It's going to really help the endgame for killers, especially if the survivors were dominant doing gens up to that point.

  • They may be waiting to hear the overall concensus of how the patch went down.

If it's a s good as the patch I've gotten, then it could simply be a matter of days before it returns. They just need to be sensible and wait for the data to come in confirming it'll be fair to do so.

  • It can mean whatever you want it to mean! It could be that he's gay or bi-; it could be that he has difficulties learning; it could even be a political stance that he's anti-authoritarian or has a fascination with a culture other than his!

The great thing is that you can make the headcannon how you wish - even omitting anything they have written, if it doesn't fit your perspective.

But as to what I think, based on those excerpts alone, it feels like it's him questioning the truth or meaning behind his culture. Or the pressures it puts on what is designated "success". It's how I see it and many may read it differently, but that's the beauty of interpretation!

Blight's new Legendary skin doesn't have a new voice which is a shame :(

I was just thinking about legendary cosmetics, and how many are talking about the unique voices for survivor legendary, yet I don't think anyone until your post has suggested this for killers. This does make perfect sense- imagine a Minotaur howling when it charges up, or the many-mouthed chattered of the Hag's Mythology legendary outfit!

This would be great for BHVR to look at. Put it as a suggestion!

  • Xbox One player here, and I can say that it is running extremely smoothly!. Probably better than I remember it being before all the problems (although I may have forgotten what it's like).

I do have fast internet, so maybe some of the stuttering comes from that? One thing anyone can do is switch off the console, completely disconnect it from all power cables for a couple of minutes, then put it baxk togethet. That should clean the cache and hopefully improve performance.

But congratulations BHVR! This is a great patch!

I wouldn't say I never play killer. Occasionally I can be bothered, but it's the exception. Not mainly because the game is (debatably) heavily survivor-biased. But in a survivor "team" of 4, if 2 or even 3 of them happen to play like headless chicken, you can still do your own thing as the 4th. And have some fun at least.

As killer, not so much. Worst case, you're stuck with 4 complete turds who can't even fathom the concept of fun in a game. And are sweatily tryharding like their RL depends on it. And no way out for you except maybe for the (obvious) DC. Or perhaps just going AfK.

Also the hilarious joke that is matchmaking... Having gotten the first green perk for the third perk slot finally, as a rank 18 killer you get thrown into a match with 4 fully kitted survivors with 4 purple perks each and rank 8 and above every single one. of them. On a relatively new killer, oh joy!

After one of those (which happened frequently), I usually take a long break before touching a killer again. And that's not even factoring in that aforementioned 4 players might be trolling or bullying you that whole time.

On a side note, that also makes it rather unattractive to bother unlocking a new killer when I barely play the old ones. On the other hand, I can totally empathize with killer players DCing when some of my fellow survivors behave like complete twats.

So yeah, it somewhat widens the perspective playing both roles. I'm unfortunately just not enough of a masochist to commit more to playing killer. Can't be bothered on my (limited) available playtime.

It's been far less a problem for me, it seems. I hear what you're saying about the matchmaking, and that it's forever been dodgy (although rank isn't always an accurate indicator of skill). That certainly is something newer players need resolving, because someone who recently bought the game does not want to go against the very rare death squad, let alone people with many more hours than they have. It's easy to see how it puts people off.

The DC/ afk angle I won't pretend to understand. I've been caught up in bully squads before, and actually persisting has at least improved my knowledge and at best I've taylored my style to take them all out. Cocky people make a lot of mistakes, especially of you bait them into thinking you're not good, or luring them into a 3 gen due to greed. But dc'ing because of that isn't something that I'll ever bother with.

It boils down to how you wish to play. I enjoy both sides and love learning new techniques or understanding individual playstyles. That helps me become empathetic and understanding from both sides. Plus, I've never had the circumstances you've talk about to such an extent that it feels like a regular occurance. It's just a shame that it's not allowing you to get a good opportunity to enjoy the game at its fullest.

  • Very true. Also, it feels like they're only playing half a game, even though they paid for a full one. It's like buying RE2 to play Leon, but then ignore Claire.

The way nearly everyone will get the best experience, learning and satisfaction for the game is by playing both sides. If someone is better as one side but not the other, then this is the way to improve.

  • • Meta perks are not needed to be good, and if someone insists upon that then they're not as good as they think

    • That it's highly likely people who say they seem to "nearly always have bad team mates" are making excuses for their poor performance.

    • Holding 'w' complaints are completely invalid and show a poor understanding of the game.

    • The devs do need to be held to account, but not as much as the attitudes of some people who play this game.

    • Complaints of tunnelling, camping, teabagging and such are not valid, since all are within the rules. Yes, some "toxic" behaviours are very inefficient, but all can be interpreted within the game as ways to use physical and psychological tactics. A toxic behaviour is either somethong not in the rules, hackers or people being shits in endgame chat.

    • In reference to above, "toxic" is a grossly overused word.

    • Some people deem content creators as the be-all-and-end-all of DBD knowledge. Those people need to stop worshipping these guys and making their own way through the game, playing it how they want and not as some person who records themself playing. Be individual and learn what fits you best.

    • Some people have no sense of humility or acceptance that they may be the problem and need to get better, and instead blames nearly everything else.

    • Experience does not equal expertise. A fresh set of eyes will spot errors or missed opportunities by those stuck in their ways.

    • I don't get the idea behind killer or survivor "mains". Those people are paying for a full game to only play half the game. Feels like buying RE2 and only playing the Leon or Claire chapter. Also, they're partially blind to any argument because of this.

    • Memes are fun and needed, but having people run around in swimwear and onesies has helped take the horror out of the game and turned it into an asymmetrical, more bloody version of Fortnite - which is not a good thing.

    • People who change their playstyle because of a few bad experiences, to a playstyle that is made purely to ruin another's experience, are an example of one of very few times where a player has "lost the game".

    • There are more positive, friendly (or at least neutral) players than their are nasty, and people need to be more humble and complimentary towards others. This more positive attitude will rub off, of done more.

  • "Alien" is streets ahead for me, especially if they can get Sigourney Weaver to do the voice for Ripley. Amanda from the games would be good too.

I'd also love it if Sidney Prescott managed to make the field for survivor too as a Paragraph, and Scarecrow from Batman as a killer paragraph.

Survivor ideas (in case BHVR cannot pull off a deal with DC Comics).

  • Bearing in mind that the Bloodweb is wear they learn it, the interraction is very weak at best. I'm uncertain that survivors can communicate around the fire, or are muted and in some way not fully aware of others until just before the trial. Like they're alone, even though survivors sit with them. A strange limbo.

Since the bloodweb is more a structure with knowledge and items within that a survivor can somehow project into a reality, it feels like it's less about teaching and more about observing and learning, or even simply absorbing, the perks and such.

Killers is trickier, because all I've heard thus far is that they basically wander from trial to trial, so as we're not aware how they "sleep", where and when and how does the bloodweb appear to them?

It's almost as if everyone is lonely there and every interraction within the trials does not feel real.

  • Definitely, especially if it adds an extra step or two before the gates are opened.

Of course, were that the case, there'd be more balance changes to be made. Extending a trial would benefit a killer more, so something would need to be put in to even it.

I'd also be for varying the types of skill checks, rather than just that one skill check that revolves around a circular target system.

  • I prefer to play immersed and not be put into a position where I have no choice but to talk with others, lest I get flack for choosing not to participate.

If it was available for an optional game mode, I'd be more accepting as then I don't have to do it. But as a main feature it would put quite a lot of the playerbase off.

  • The Wraith's biggest flaws are his exceptionally loud breathing and vulnerability to light. He has plenty of counterability, even without taking those weaknesses into account.

He had a minor change by adding a weaker perk to his basekit and there were hardly any concerns back then. Even his "shimmer" being altered (depending on distance) was seen as a better move to make him more viable.

These concerns seem to have come about relatively recently, and I am wondering whether it's more to do with the influx of newer players still getting used to him, rather than anything else.

Also, his add-ons are some of the more creative, and I actually wonder whether other killers could benefit from the same add-on treatment.

  • The Trapper is a great choice. Often, 3 gens spawn in the buildings on the top floor. It's one of the most unique and effective 3-gen scenarios I've found as Trapper, and I'll always start every round on there securing those spots.

The Hillbilly is a lot of fun on it. There are various ways you can zoom down to that gen in the basement, into houses, down the sides of houses.

I've not found Haddonfield that bad a map, although I certainly accept there need to be changes to make it a bit more balanced. But the basic killers work well on there. I think Myers also works well, depending on how sneaky you are with him. Stealth killers also have a better chance here.

  • I'm an INFJ, so I stand in solidarity with Adam.

  • I think at an early stage in development, this was considered but balanced poorly. Besides, if you think about it: the killer's the predator, and like most predators the eyes are facing forwards, and the prey often have eyes at the side of their head, thereby enabling a bigger field view.

If this were a thing, a survivor at red rank should be worshipped as a God! :D

I was worried that he did somehow have footage, despite the fact that for the survivors, Steve truly only went down twice the entire game, and got up once with Adrenaline. I know the game can look pretty different on the killer's screen sometimes due to latency- when I get hit through a pre dropped pallet it obviously didn't look like i was on the other side before the hit on the killer's screen.

I ended up chalking it up to bad internet latency on his part, with maybe the newer hit validation stuff coming into play? I mentioned in another comment that Otz has a video where he played with survivors in another continent- at one point he hits a survivor, the survivors yells, but the hit doesn't end up registering after all. I'm thinking that must have happened to the Deathslinger, just with a down instead of a hit.

And nah, he didn't report him- he thought the whole thing was hilarious. I'm a worrier, though, and prior to creating this thread I didn't really know how BHVR handled hacking reports! In any case, it's it's a few weeks and nothing has happened to anyone in the match 🙂

Yeah, it's probably just frustration or sour grapes on the Deathslinger's part, so I reckon you guys are safe now. Just carry on as normal and I'm sure you'll have nothing to be concerned about🙂

  • I wouldn't worry. In order to prove a hack happened, the Deathslinger would need to show video footage of this. If that's the case, if Steve went down, then the last gen went and he got up, that will back up Adrenaline. Otherwise, the others may have been either some issue he experienced his end, or he's just bitter and making it up.

Either way, he has to prove it beyond doubt, and if your boyfriend wasn't cheating, then it's a 1,000,000 to 1 he'll have any repercussion. Did he report the Deathslinger for falsely reporting him?

  • I have some very fun and happy moments from the track "Angel"😈

The album was really heavily praised when it came out, and that strangely endearing yet eeiry video for "Teardrop" was a classic.

Great band! Never got to see them live, but wish I had.

Not knowing Star Wars that well, I though you were quoting a Metallica song!😅

I actually talked about this on another thread. I believe it would be nice if, after getting infected with his fear toxin, survivors would see illusions or glimpses of their respective killers.

For example, if you are playing Quentin, you would suddenly see Freddy pulling you into the Dream World. Or if you are playing Kate, you would see Clown throwing a bottle at you or Bubba revving his chainsaw up (if you know, you know).

I think it would be interesting.

I actually remember reading that! That would be fun, or maybe also getting notifications of an Exposed status, when actually there isn't one, or get a notification that a survivor jas been downed, when again that's not the case.

  • As a solo player, there are some matches I'd rather not re-live, but the idea it's somehow full of imbeciles is grossly exaggerated.

I've had more fun matches than problematic, and I much prefer the harder difficulty and unpredictability that makes me a far better player, because I have to learn to roll with the chaotic flow of the trial.

With swf, if they're using comms to direct the match then really it's Dead By Daylight on tutorial mode and I much prefer a challenge. Although, in fairness the one time I tried swf I absolutely hated the distraction of chatting team mates and it destroyed any immersion for me.

Overall, for me SoloQ is the best experience.
