  • Jesus.. Prepare for the 3 gen from Hell!

  • In the vast majority of cases it's just gloating by people who have probably died more times than they have escaped. However, on the exceptionally rare occassion if the killer has played unhonourably (proper face-camp and hitting a survivor on the hook repeatedly), the teabag is still a gloat, but this time basically giving an eye for an eye.

I think I've done the latter a handful of times during my entire playtime, but each time the killer has played really nastily so to me that's fair.

But I absolutely agree with most that teabagging just to mock the killer when they've given a fair fight is just the type of thing I've not even seen a toddler do much if they win a game of tag, race or whatever, so those guys are just plain pitiful.

  • I play with it on, but have considered playing with it off, in case it helps with the current fps issue. I'll give that a try a bit later.

  • It's a toss-up between Cheryl Mason and Adam Francis.

IG he was a chapter for the fact he was an Anniversary release? I'm still confused to this day about that too.

I mean, I get that they couldn't get all the rights, yet the fact that they carried him on as not even a killer from "Scream", but a random guy from another universe who just so happens to wear a mask was perplexing. Also, no Sidney Prescott :(.

  • As survivor, I have the option to switch characters last minute or tools, etc..

As killer, I am stuck as that killer the moment I enter the lobby and unable to adjust to last minute changes.

Also, as 4v1, it's fair for the killer to have a little bit of intel at the start.

  • It may not be the best, especially with the tank controls and oldie PSone characteristics, but it does have the fondest memories for me, so it's the one I have enjoyed most.

  • Street Fighter 2: Turbo on the SNES was my first console memory - playing that and Mario Kart with friends from school.

    E. Honda slaps and Blanka electrical charge spam for the win! :D

  • Most of the time I just think they're probably best not playing anyway, but I don't dwell on it. On a very rare occassion they dc when they're ahead, and to those I think they fell victim to a powercut or something and sympathise a bit. But to those who dc when losing I just think it's a bit child-like really.

  • Take it as a compliment! If your opponent is surprised that you all worked well enough to create the illusion you were all swf, then consider the fact that you worked well as a team player, without actually being on comms!

As to why some people assume it's an swf, it could be a number of things

    • Justification for them losing/ losing badly.

    • Bitter that they didn't do better.

    • Low self-awareness/ self-esteem.

    • Arrogance at believing they are some sort of gaming God.

and the one that's often overlooked...

    • They have had a legitimately bad day irl and this just so happened to be the final straw.

Eitherway, let them be that way. If you are confident you've done well, just leave then to stew. Especially leave because of the last reason - or for thqt reason, be polite and the bigger person: they may not be that way all the time.

  • If killers see torches in the lobby, then if it's to hand it would be prudent for them to consider Lightborn. It may not be that most killers use it regularily. Moreover they're more aware of tactics going into a trial.

  • I'm thinking more from a commercial point of view, but with the licences involved in the game would they want their product associated with a nude character? For example, would Capcom or Konami react negatively to having their property in a game with nudity?

  • "Ghost Face", for the simple reason it was a Paragraph falsely disguised as a Chapter.

  • A few more that could be fun:

"Creeping Dread": Hex: Devour Hope, Trail of Torment, Rancor, Remember Me

"Look, but Don't Touch": Franklin's Demise, Hoarder, Overcharge, Surveillance

"Just For You, but Your Friends can Watch": Save The Best For Last, Play With Your Food, Rancor, Blood Warden

"Jab And Move": Unrelenting, Save The Best For Last, Coup de Grâce, Infectious Fright

  • There's another build you could try:

"A Friend in Need is a Friend who Bleeds": Make Your Choice, Lightborn, Deathbound, Discordance

For those who don't like survivors co-operating.

  • There are a few options you could try to start with:

"Nowhere to Hide": Nurses Calling, BBQ and Chili, Infectious Fright, Iron Maiden

"Gen Disruptor": Corrupt Intervention, Thrilling Tremors, Dead Man's Switch, Eruption

"Hemophobia": Thanatophobia, Hysteria, Blood Echo, Sloppy Butcher

Don't complain about OUR meta when it's obvious you run monstrous shrine on pig

"Monstrous Shrine" is absolutely necessary and won't be nerfed until "This Is Not Happening" is removed from the game as it's so unbalanced! Also, that add-on "bandages" with 8 extra charges for first aid kit is too op. Survivors have it too easy!

Baby killer needs birds to find survivors for him 😤 completely outrageous

Just because baby survivor uses op Slippery Meat. 6 attempts needs a nerf😏

  • That's a first for me! Never thought the day would come when perks like that become a thing to moan about post-match! That's quite the triumph!

The best I've got was someone complaining I ran "Spies from the Shadows" because a crow helped me locate them in a locker that I "had no right to know" (yes, those were the words used).

But that's good going! Next time, see if you can get some salt for a perk like "Whispers". That's when you know you've achieved all you can in DBD :D

  • There's a fun build called "You're going on that hook, whether you like it or not!!!" or (in honour of Ozzy Man) "Destination #########"

Agitation, Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, Starstruck

  • I'd probably say to use these rounds to experiment with in-trial tactics and learn ways in which survivors can juke you, understand where and when to start or end chases, and learn to see how each player uses their characters to learn any repeated habits they do.

If you feel that you're gonna get stomped, you can at least get somw important styles and experiences from these games.

Also, as a final point, play as survivor. You'll actually learn a lot about being a killer by putting yourself in the shoes of your prey and seeing it from another perspective. By learning tricks as a survivor and working with others, it may give you ideas on how to combat such situations.

  • I like the idea of utilising swarms of bees as a weapon. Jason and Pennywise would also be fun, mind! Chucky isn't my cup of tea at all though.

  • Blackout could introduce a different type of effect that, when lit, gen repair speeds can be reduced. Maybe more a brown out than blackout, but it could be a good way to slow down the mid-game. I'm uncertain whether it'll be that strong in its current form, especially with so many oblivious perks and add-ons about.

Backstab I like! Could cause people to think more carefully about helping a dying survivor so close to the killer, even if it just focuses on the obsession. Although, with the obsession being passed, this has potential for a domino effect.

Insanity I also really like, as it could be a double-edged sword: With every totem lit, they'll be easier to spot or hear nearby, so totems could also be cleansed far more quickly. Yet it also can delay the trial progress. It's a bit of a crap-shoot, and could benefit either side.

  • Thanks for that! There could have been a warning so my wife didn't have to walk in on me watching that!

  • It looks inspired by Prince during his "Purple Rain" phase.

  • In all honesty, if the Legion have a bunny mascot as a set of cosmetics, they may as well throw some Teletubbies outfits on as well!

  • Sounds like you had a good game plan and the survivors either fell for it, or carelessly allowed themselves to be put in a 3-gen situation, which left you with a good tactic that worked in your favour!

When some people lose, they're just extremely bitter, so whatever they say you won't ever be able to reason with them. They'll cool off and forget that round after a while, as will you no doubt, and life will go on.

I havent really seen the devs buffing strong killers to make them stronger though. If anything, they're toning them down. Nurse, Spirit and Billy for example have all gotten nerfs across the board. Nurse and Spirit have gotten multiple. I havent really seen the case of BUFFING any into oblivion. I guess maybe you could say Freddy after his rework, but that was a fullblown rework that has sense been nerfed.

Neither have I. But it's something the OP either feels they've seen (whether mistaken or not), or fears will happen. It could be worthwhile finding what it is the OP is sensing and where they've gathered the intel from. Although I admit I haven't read every post here, so that explanation may well be smooshed within these replies somewhere.

It could simply be a case of them being annoyed by something and exaggerating what they're feeling, which often leads to gaping holes in logic, but at the same time has a very real foundation of concern that must have come from somewhere to make them feel like they do.

  • A very old buff, but the Deja Vu change from just seeing 1-2 gens nearby to a perk that shows you 3 gens that are closest together was a nice boost.

I typed out that and then was like...I should probably explain abit more, lol. You just happened to reply to it while I was in the middle of editing.

As far as I'm seeing, OP isn't really for buffing the weak killers, but rather leaving them weak for the sake of having challenging to play characters. He kept bringing up Trapper for example and how Otzdarva plays Trapper...but Otzdarva himself has been saying for years (as well as the majority of the community) that Trapper should be buffed to allow him to carry more than 1 trap without needing an add-on.

Typically when you have a killer with low mobility that has a power that doesnt help much in a chase... they need some love. Demo is a good example of a killer who has abit of both and works out wonderfully IMO. I can play Demo without any addons, and his addons also dont feel super oppressive. Trapper, Clown and Trickster however are killers with powers that are meh in chase and have low mobility. They have addons that crank up their power, but otherwise they feel meh.

I would even add Myers to this list since he's the only killer who can actually run out of his power. Being able to pop that T3 is great for offsetting his weakness in his mobility, but you can find yourself without being able to stalk anybody by the lategame...leaving you stranded in T2. I like Myers in general, but would like to see some change in this facet so you arnt left in this situation.

Yeah, I can certainly see what you've written about OP leaving weak killers as is. Especially with the comments about The Trickster.

What I was reading into it though was the idea of not buffing all killers into oblivion. I'm wondering whether there's a concern by the OP that this might be the direction the game is going. It's not likely, since killers, add-ons and perks are often given balance changes. Some make perfect sense; some make more sense in the long-term; some seem completely loopy!

So, I agree with OP in so much as not having all killers absolutely destructive, but yeah likewise I think the idea of leaving killers too weak isn't good for balance. Having an ideal balance whereby killers feel strong enough, yet also have survivors feel capable of survival is ideal. No idea how it'll happen though, because of all the various aspects involved in getting this balance. It's very complex when I think about it! Maybe the devs aren't recognised by the task they're facing and how massive the problem is!

Anyway, sorry went off at a tangeant. Just the idea of balance is general is quite the mountain!

the repair time is fine the way it is, we dont want this to be a M1 simulator for survivors.

though there has to be something new - and fun - added for survivors to do, in order to slow the game down.

like finding parts for the gens or completing little minigames before you are able to start working on the generator. stuff like that, that slows down the game but also doesnt make it boring.

This entirely. Extending the repair time on an already low-interractive action would make it more frustrating, so instead by adding an extra objective in game it works for killers by giving them a bit more time, but at the same time not making it boring or frustrating for survivors.

Also, the new objective probably doesn't need to be that time-consuming. There ought to be a good balance for both sides, and making a new objective that is exponentially long may not be as fair.

I edited that message to specify what Im referring to. You agreed with OP's point, which is why I directed my message at you.

Firstly, thank you for clarifying the message and editing it to make your point. I appreciate that :).

So, in response I would say that there was an agreement with OP that some killers could be stronger than others for the purposes of difficulty. I'd argue though that it wasn't a message agreeing to "weak" killers, moreover saying that it was fine to have some stronger than others. The difference there is that all killers should be viable, but at different levels of difficulty.

My first paragraph to OP alludes to the need to have this by saying that sometimes it's necessary to adjust killer balance because of them being too overpowered or underpowered, so looking for an even playing ground.

I certainly agree with you that no killer should be made weak, and also agree with your comments about add-ons. Also, I agree with OP that killers should be at different levels of difficulty to challenge players. So why not have options of having killers who are all strong enough and viable, but having some have a bit more of an advantage than others, and also add-ons that weaken (or use less perks) so people feel challenged without the feeling of hopelessness?

  • That wasn't clear on your message as you addressed it to me at the start, but thank you for clarifying the message and what you were alluding to.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2407190#Comment_2407190

If you want an extra challenge, why not use the system already put in place to have that rather than insisting on killers having a weak basekit? Alot of killers already have addons that weaken their powers and you can also adjust the difficulty by using less perks as well.

There was nothing said about "insisting a killer has a weak basekit". I said that it's fine that some killers are stronger than others. Therefore, not implying killers should be weak. And my first paragraph specifically pointed about a need to balance killers to make them viable.

I agree with what you say about add-ons, and that they offer the opportunity to try a more difficult build. Just please don't misinterpret what I wrote.

  • For balance reasons, it's sometimes a good idea to adjust the balance of killers. If there is a clear disadvantage or advantage to playing a particular killer that seems too powerful or woefully inadequate, then changing certain aspects to reduce the oppressiveness or weakness would be beneficial.

I do hear what you're saying though, and for me it feels right to have some killers not as strong as others, similar to a difficulty level. That way there is a challenge involved.

  • By seeing every trial as a mini- movie, whereby I play the role I assigned myself to. Once one trial ends (whatever the result) it's forgotten, the movie has ended and the next will be a new one.

Also, each trial is an opportunity for me to learn, and there's always something new to learn. Even if it's against for rank 1 swf's, it's an opportunity to observe how well they play and also figure out how to improve the mistakes. Seeing it as an opportunity to perfect the playstyle is welcome.

  • It may be a tad too strong, as it's already pretty useful as is. I like the idea of team mates being aware of everyone else, and although perks such as Aftercare and Blood Pact do that in some form, it might be interesting to have another perk that could well do something such as you described, in maybe a weaker form.

  • Notbsure what it will be, but I'd laugh if it were Springtrap because I saw its image above the RPD entrance in the lobby that I just thought was paredolia (and most likely still is!).

I don't think it's the Xenomorph though. A paragraph of the Alien without Ripley (either Ellen or Amanda) would be a huge missed opportunity. Besides, that franchise is so huge that even if BHVR had it in the bag, you'd save such a punch for the Anniversary.

  • The first time I played BioShock and that Big Daddy came bursting out of nowhere, I thought: "Whelp, I'm screwed!". Its speed and aggression were maniacal, and it was quite an intimidating foe!

A Bioshock chapter has a lot of potential, and it would be amazing to see it introduced into this universe!

I think spirit still can be infected seeing how she was able to be injected with the Blight serum which could mean that the spirit isn't exactly a full on ghost

If I recall correctly, when Capcom were considering Resident Evil 4, one of the proposals they had in place was to introduce ghosts into the game! That decision was ultimately scrapped, but if we say that they decided to go ahead with the idea they would probably try to link these ghosts with the Plaga, what would be the angle?

The toxin which affected spirit could well have worked because it's a cosmic horror concoction that may affect beyond the plains we consider "death", so kinda negates it. With the T-Virus, it's a genetically modified virus created by humans to affect physical bodies, which is why I was doubting Spirit would be infected. However, again if there was some way the RE4 proposal of ghosts was possible, and they'd be linked with the virus in some way, maybe there's something of a chance? I'm just not sure how.

  • "Dead By Daylight" is the only PvP I've ever played, since story-driven games are the ones that mostly interest me. Although recently I do enjoy more relaxed, strategic or design games.

Currently, I'm also playing a mobile game called "Blackout Age", which is a GPS game with some similarities to "This War Of Mine", but in a more sci-fi setting.

Otherwise, games I've played recently are older games such as "The Sims 3", "Rimworld", "Final Fantasy VII" (PSone version), and "We Happy Few".

Haunt Chaser looks like a good game, but it will need some polishing, and lots of advertisement and publicity to get a consistent player-base. Currently it's not passed even 200 players. Problem with these types of new, promising games is that they look even a little bit unpolished, players will see the game as a "trash rip-off" and not pay much attention to it afterwards, even if the developers put a lot of effort in. Phasmophobia was a new type of PVE asymmetrical ghost hunting party game with VR option and had a lot of streamer attention.

That's true, and these days they can be very quickly dismissed. But I do like the fact they've tried to find a niche, whereby the competitive 4v1 has been incorporated into such a premise. There does need to be a lot of polishing, true. Still, it is something that's not just a complete copycat, and if they persist, it could be a good rival.

Will it take over DBD? That's a hard "no". However, it's one of the more interesting takes on this gemre.

I do think it would be a cool change for breakable walls to blend in more when you are playing survivor but stick out more when you are playing killer for that kind of interesting gameplay, but most of the breakable walls don't support that kind of play in the slightest in the current state of the game they are just there to make a window stronger until they are broken most of the time

Yeah, like what happened with Badham, and the breakable walls were used to cover the existing doorways, which felt a little lackluster. I was hoping for at least a randomized chance of breakable walls in the shacks - not every time, but still a chance that could spice things up, like at the Dead Dawg Saloon!

  • Maybe the "Realm Beyond" took importance over the walls. Either way, whilst it would be nice to have themed walls, it's not a big deal for me.

I do like the idea of randomized walls that only the killer sees as breakable though. It would make for some fun jump scares when I play survivor, and an added bit of tactics for killer.

  • Cheryl Mason is my all-time favourite, which is biased considering my adoration for "Silent Hill".

But beyond that, I have 2 non-licensed favourites: Claudette Morel, because it feels like she's on the Spectrum, as am I. So I empathise more with her (pun not intended), and Élodie Rakoto because of her intrigue into the paranormal also matches my interest in folklore.

  • They're going to be a fun addition for survivors to use. Should there be a totem is lit up for a survivor to dismantle, or a totem that grants a benefit as long as it's activated, it would also be worth considering a killer's interraction with it, if indeed there is any! I can't imagine the killer would not be able to destroy them, especially if it's lit up from the get go.

  • When used sparingly, it can be a great perk, especially for solo players who feel they cannot rely on others.

What I would say though, is that if you see a nearby survivor, or know where one is, and it's safe to do so, don't waste time healing, but instead run to that survivor and get healed quicker.

Basically, it's a self-preservation perk, and if someone is using it to get back in the fight I'd rather that than have them downed quickly.

  • The Nurse will probably just phase to where the elevator is going and wait on the floor the survivors will have to open, then nail them with some good ol' expose effect whilst they're huddled in the corner.

In my head, it is a very pitiful image I've got now!

Seriously, I wouldn't mind it. I could just see Sally Smithson enjoying herself way too much, wading in the blood of the fallen.
