Alongside Pyramid Head, the Entity could well be fishing into very risky territory with Pinhead.
Sure, it's one thing to bring in a being from a realm controlled by a Sun Goddess, but to then invite a Cenobite from Hell is probably going to either be a great gamble, or a complete misjudgement by it! Heck, Myers does what he wants, and Krueger has his own realm within the realm... even from non-licensed characters, the Entity finds it rough-going with Rin and Anna, and it's even speculated the Nurse uses her attack as a way to constantly attempt to escape the realm.
I'm thinking this cosmic parasite is not fully aware of what it's wondering into.
-
Licences are essential for this game's survival. Having just a lot of non-licenced characters will not bring the attention needed. Besides this, Identity V is the only other game that comes even close, and that is largely due to the familiarity of the game, but also inclusion of popular anime-style licences like Danganronpa, Persona, Death Note and - oddly, I discovered - KFC!! ... obviously, not anime.
I like the idea of having more original characters than licensed, because it's obviously their baby and a way for BHVR to create their own universe, and also because licences then feel more special and enticing! I still remember the "Silent Hill" reveal and thinking "You bloody brilliant bastards!".
Also, as an aside, lovely to have a Silent Hill licence not linked to pinko machines or skateboards (thank you for that, Konami 😔)
-
Pinhead feels like a really exciting killer to play! Also, and I haven't read the lore yet, but it's fun to to have another killer who potentially could become a risk for this parasite-like Entity, being as he's actually a denizen of Hell! Even his power seems to have Hell breaking into the Entity's realm. Alongside Pyramid Head especially, this may be a sign of the Entity becoming particularily greedy at the detriment of itself!
Anyway, tinfoil speculation aside, his power is unique and interractive from both sides. I love the Lament Configuration summoning idea, which was always my hope they'd integrate it somehow. He's a much darker character than most of the roster, and the unease Pinhead instills may bring back some horror elements.
The only drawbacks are the glitches (as with anything!), albeit I admit after watching a Not Otzdarva video, they were ridiculously funny! I'll certain give a lot of credit to BHVR for this and Nemesis for bringing the memes in - "I came!" - not sure how they're gonna compete with that and zombie campers with original ideas, but I'm hoping this will be a success and give BHVR more licence in being more experimental with powers and ideas.
-
You're welcome!👍
-
Probably this one, although...
... I'd happily settle with this!
-
I actually had a good time with it, and certainly the best matches from both sides for quite some time!
The reason it may have been perceived differently to different people could be because of the data it was basing itself on, but thinking about my matches before and during this, it was pretty accurate.
-
There wouldnhave to be some element of horror in what is chosen . With killers, it's a little easier: You could have Carnage from "Spiderman", Scarecrow from "Batman", Villanelle from "Killing Eve" or Vaz from Far Cry 3, for example. All would fit in, but to have a cross over that's completely out of sync, like Mario or Bowser, it's gonna feel a tad odd.
.. although, a Mario perk that allows him on first hook to not just escape but bounce off the hook to the far side of the map, or stomp on the killer's head is a bit tempting...
-
We need much more of that in this game!

MMR has made my trials much better in terms of how my team plays, what skill my opponents are like and overall a much better experience than the previous system.
However, as many players as there are, like me, who are happier with the new system, it's clear others are not getting as fun an experience. Yet I'm wondering whether it's not the MMR system which is screwing them over, but moreover the data by which the MMR is working with.
As an example, if the MMR judges people's ability to escape chases, and over the past several months the previous ratings system had been inconsistent - matching players up with others far below or above their skill level - then it stands to reason the opponents you're matched with will reflect that.
So, maybe SBMM should be labelled EBMM (Experienced-based Match Making), that would ultimately explain why people are having differing experiences. Derankers especially will probably be experiencing extreme hikes in difficulty, but also the inconsistency of the previous ranking system will be a large factor.
But I hope your experiences improve.
-
If the data being used to dictate MMR is wonky, then naturally at the start it will also be working off as well. Ironically, how the previous ranking worked, people were being put against others vastly above or below their skill. As a result, if - for example - one aspect is based on escaping chases, and previously players of far less skill weren't able to catch you, the MMR will decide you need to be placed with killers who often won chases.
So, a possible reason as to why some have had unpleasant experiences may not be anythingnto do with MMR, but with the data the MMR has to work with.
Also, it may also be that any sort of matchmaking will never be universally accepted, because it doesn't take the human element of bias into account; someone feels they are better skilled than they actually are, or blames others for mistakes clearly made by them - just a couple of examples.
Anyway, I can only speak on behalf of my experience, which has been excellent and a boost to realising my skill was better than I thought by the quality of all players I've been surviving alongside/ fighting against.
-
Discovered I'm part of a rumour mill at work that was quite detrimental. Fortunately, the schemers slipped up badly, and next week is going to be entertaining >:)
-
Taking away immortality, I'd go with Oni over Nemesis, due to its demon-like abilities. Also, Rin could be stealthy enough and aggressive enough to put her in the final 2 against Oni.
Of course, taking into account immortality then Pyramid Head would defeat all of them. The only way he might not would be if the killer honestly repents their guilt and comes to terms with what they had done, in which case Pyramid Head will just kill itself. Not sure if that'll happen though.
-
Self Care feels like it's in a good place currently. The ability to heal without any cooldown and at will is pretty strong, so having the slower rate of heal counters that easy accessability.
The best way to use it depends on the situation, but it's always more important, where possible, to seek out someone to help you to get back into the game quicker.
-
From what I remember, it's quite cheesey by today's standards, although it doesn't hold back on trying to slap on as many examples of pain as possible!
There's some fun lore to dive into, and the designs are quite fun. I think the horror is much more about what your imagination brings to the table. But it's worth giving it a go. But as I say as a warning: although the gore is cheesey, it still looks very painful.
-
It's a tricky one. The positives were the choice of character, and some of the perks are amazing, especially "Leathal Pursuer". Nemesis was my prefered killer, and the zombie AI makes for a fun and interesting addition.
However, Nemesis' power besides the zombies felt weak in practice. The idea of mutation was good, but it was just badly designed. Any boost in mutation doesn't really do much, and infected survivors really don't have much of a draw back from it.
Having something like the virus potentially consuming the survivor if not cured, have the zombies just injure or down the survivor instead of wasting a hit for infection, have Nemesis become faster and stronger with mutations, instead of just a whip, or heck, even a "summon Mori", whereby Nemesis can call on both zombies to approach a downed survivor and munch them into oblivion would be something to be concerned with! His power was far too weak for such a powerful killer.
Also, the bugs when the chapter came out and map issues were just a mess.
Overall, the immediate and short-term response was unfavourable. It's felt a bit better as time went on, but really the Chapter was held above water by the perks and AI inclusion. It felt like Nemesis wasn't given justice.

Thanks man. I like your idea, it's unique and I usually see alot of active killer concepts for him, but him being a laid back killer like Hag is super interesting.
(Also I too want an Alien chapter)
It would add that fear of always feeling watched, which is a common fear in every day life that a lot of people have, so having animatronics just standing motionless would probably unnerve quite a lot of people, not knowing if they're gonna strike into action. I'd love a surveillance killer that would induce that fear factor. Would be great to see it one day!
Also, thumbs up for a fellow "Alien Chapter" supporter! As for survivor, obviously Ellen Ripley would be first choice, but I'd be far from upset if it was Amanda Ripley, as I loved her character in the game.
-
I'm not a fan of farming anyway, and this killer tactic actually fits in well with the villain aesthetic of the killer! Never tried it, but have to applaud anyone who utilises this for their nefarious scheme.
As survivor, I've seen this happen once, and my reluctance to have anything to do with it was what saved my skin and got the hatch escape.
-
I commend you on a well-presented argument for FNAF's inclusion within the Dead By Daylight universe.
So I admit: I'm not a fan of the FNAF games, as I much prefer psychological horror to jump scares (which I just find funny, rather than scary). However, you are right to say it's not a kiddies game, as there are some darker elements. Also, it would fit Dead By Daylight as would any other horror game, and beyond (I still reckon Carnage from "Spiderman" would fit in well, not to mention characters from other non-horrors).
Absolutely, I would have no problem with its inclusion, were it to be in future. There are franchises I'd prefer over it (e.g.: Alien; The Evil Within; Alan Wake (and its universe, including "Control"); Slumberparty Massacre 2; Terminator; Outlast; X-Files; Batman and The Magnus Archives, to name some), but it's got potential.
Also, there is a potentially interesting power it could have, providing the focus is on FNAF as a whole, and not just SpringTrap:
From what I do remember, FNAF jas the animatronics moving alternatively in some way, so Springtrap would move whilst the others may not, that Fox thing would move whilst others may not, etc.. So as its power, why not have it focus on both having all the animatronics, and the key component to FNAF of surveillance. The player can only control 1 animatronic at a time, but can look through and transport to any of those animatronics at will. Of course, there would be a cooldown or warning for survivors (eyes flashing and electric sparks maybe?), but that power would actually be a new and interesting map-based power to accompany others like Trapper, Hag, Freddy and Demogorgon.
Finally, for anyone who feels it's childish because they're animal costumes, I'd like to remind them the Clown dresses like an elephant, Trapper as some cheesy strongman, and all 4 legion members as a bunny mascot (which the colours still remind me of Teletubbies ... I want Teletubby skins for Legion now! What has become of my life!😭
-
It depends on the quality of the opponents, my game play and the overall feel of the trial. If I was against good opponents and played well to get the 2k, that's a job well done. However, if I play particularily badly and fluke the 2k, or the opponents weren't good, then I wouldn't be satisfied by that.
-
Although I actually believe the MMR is far better than some make out, it's 99.9% likely that the data it is basing itself on over the last several months as been eskewed by the previously flawed ranking-based matchmaking. Therefore, the initial starting point this system goes on is going to be botched a bit. Once it irons out though, I reckon it'll be much better.
However, you do make a very good point about really new players coming in and, because of their lack of data they are being flung into impossible matches. That bit definitely needs to be re-evaluated and perhaps have a grouping whereby people with x amount of hours in the early stages gets grouped only with others of similar time in game. Of course, there's the issue of smurfing or deliberate de-pipping, but maybe a). An IP address check is done to locate if someone has links to more than 1 qccount, and b). SBMM should eliminate the de-pipping issue entirely.
Perhaps, rather than basing the SBMM on historical performance, it could have been grouped into the hours put in to by profile first, and therefore people of similar people verse eaxh other, and gradually expand it. Eitherway, I honestly feel SBMM will be better for game health long-term, but BHVR need to tweak it for newer players so they don't get thrown in at the deep end, as you pointed out, and they need to be a bit more daring and keep it on for longer since I'm not sure how connecting then disconnecting this is going to improve the data it's working on.
-
If you go either forward or back a page on the result screen, then back to that screen again, it would have updated.
It's a visual bug I've come across too, but to reassure you it won't alter the pips or personal ranking - it does ultimately calculate accurately.
-
My concern with seeing ranks was that it does nothing other than give an excuse. The only benefit is to say someone played badly because they were playing with lower ranks as a form of justification for poor play. Sure, sometimes players could be paired either with inexperienced players, or even meme players, but often the complaint arises as a way to excuse someone having to look at their own mistakes.
If those people look at how they can improve, rather than looking for an excuse to not tale responsibility, it would become a much more civil and empathetic place to be.
-
It's going to take time for the SBMM to fully adjust, because of the chaotic information it was based upon previously. But as it goes on, the game will gradually adjust and it will become a fairer prospect. The SBMM wasn't a problem, but the data was. If they just keep it working, rather than taking it off after this trial and going to the original structure which will cause more bad data, then it'll ultimately even out.
-
I'd probably customize it like the Midwich basement from the Silent Hill Lizard boss fight:
-
Personally, I love the new system and feel it's actually giving me much more fun and engrossing games against tough opponents, and has actually boosted my confidence in my ability since I'm hanging with absolutely devastating players!
So this is more a devil's advocate comment than anything, but this is a possible issue: The data was based on several months of analysis during a time of uneven matchmaking. Therefore, by that logic, the data the MMR is working on would be tainted and possibly flawed because of this. Also, take into account those who derank on purpose, or those who mess about for fun, getting high scores which the MMR will recognise as true skill, when in fact it wasn't.
For the MMR to be balanced, the data needs to be honest, and I'll wager that current data is skewed due to the various factors.
However, give it time and it will ultimately balance. In all honesty, BHVR just needs to let it run a lot longer to gather better quality data to work with and ultimately balance it out. That way, people may have a rude awakening, but then it'll balance into a more comfortable system.
-
Firstly, you are absolutely right: there's nothing wrong about wanting or not wanting a certain killer, as well as maintaining civility and respect.
There could be many triggers as to why people seem to become so aggressively nuts though. This could be because someone is too obsessive; had a terrible day; trolling; takes things too personally; misinterprets the meaning behind the words; has low self-worth or even bored, amongst other things.
The underlying factor is a sense of congruence and an understanding of why they feel a certain way when challenged. Many people don't take a step back and think "Hang on - why do I feel insulted by this?" and just dive in. But those questions either don't register or create a fear that they aren't willing to confront. It ultimately underlines all actions, and those who can take a step back are pretty much guaranteed to not react aggressively, but instead clearly, respectfully and with a level-head. Most importantly, those people always make the best points.
People need to be made aware of this more.
-
It's normally a very vocal minority which makes it seem like a community at war. Often it's either trolling or somebody who has a few issues, but the majority of people don't hold such extreme views. Sure, there will be people who will be thinking: "I hope it's not *insert name*", but even if it is they just shrug it off and might even end up maining the guy due to its power!
Also, forums represent only a small proportion of the overall fan base. You could have everyone here united against a certain killer, but the silent majority would be absolutely content - hence the decision is made.
-
I certainly empathise with your experiences and am very sorry you've come across some of these arseholes. They are very rare my end, but they've come up and are the dregs of the dregs of a tin can filled with dirty water.
Things are done about them. There are, however, 2 points to make: #1. We aren't privy to know what happens to them. I'm not gonna pretend I know exactly why (some legal reasoning, possibly), but they can't tell you the results of the enquiry. It's very frustrating, but understandable. It'll be great to have some showing in numbers of those who have been punished, mind. #2. Bigotry and moronicism knows no boundries. People feel protected in their ivory towers, defended by keyboards, controllers and cosy screens. Those people don't have the intellect to understand the damage to others, nor the potential punishments. But they are numerous in all games.
There are many decent guys out there, and I find reaching out to people has good results, although only if there's a reason to, as if there isn't it may be seen as insincere. Complimenting a good play or recollecting a funny or exciting moment gets better responses.
I just hope that you will find better people in future.

i am sorry.
I am one of those who never ready up because i instantly put my controller aways once i search for a lobby.
You scumbag! :p
-
The worst thing about lobbies for me is that there is normally 1 person - be it killer or survivor - which doesn't ready until they're forced to when the whole minute is up, whilst the other 4 of us have readied about 5 seconds into the countdown. It's even funnier when all the survivor animations look in the direction of that individual at the same time; probably saying "Really? You're gonna wait it out, aren't you?"
If the items were locked, then I would suggest there be no way to change qnything in the lobby, including perks and add-ons. If say 3 survivors appear in the lobby with torches, yet they are stuck and the killer can still switch to Lightborn, then it's fairly unbalanced. As @StealthEnjoyer says - have the lobby time shortened considerably so once you're in then you are ready to go.
-
Here's an alternative view on mmr, and before I go into it I do feel all your points are extremely valid.
Is it possible that, because of the ranking system prior that MMR has used to collect data over the last several months, that MMR is working as it should, but the information it is using is borked because of mismatching in the past. Therefore, people who gained high scores because of facing weaker players in the past are now facing far tougher players because their scores matched theirs, based on scoring rather than quality of opponent?
Would resetting everything to scratch and starting anew be a better way of making it more accurate in the long-term?
-
"The Animatronic" would be fine for me.
-
Overall much better. It's challenging and fun, as well as more equal survivors to team up with, as well as stronger survivors to go against.
This does not feel to be anywhere near the mess some predicted.
-
When they did a last-second switch in the lobby to holding a key, followed by them being obliterated by a possibly infuriated killer.
When anyone puts "toxic" in their gamertag in the lobby, before being obliterated by a possibly rise-to-the-challenge killer.
When I see a fellow survivor pallet slam a killer and teabag, then try to blind them only to get wrecked - as the killer is later discovered to have lightborn.
When I see 3 other survivors in onesies - not for gameplay reasons, but their poor dress sense.
-
I wouldn't use it. I'm not having my game dictated as to how it should be played by some wannabe gaming dictator in Junior School.
It would also ruin the atmosphere for me, but the more worrying part would be if the other 3 talked, I refused and then get screwed over because of it.
-
It's worth a watch, as it's very much a part of classic horror - alongside other well-known movies as far back as "Dracula", "Them", "The Blob, and up to more modern movies like "Scream", "Saw" and "Get Out". It's a good reflection on what was expected from horror of the time, and whilst the movies lacked in some areas, the creative designs and deaths are still fun to watch today (if not quite as scary by modern standards).

So much fighting for FNAF, Candyman, Hellraiser and IT, we should have this best killer to be satisfied as a community.

That picture reminds of what happens when, as a child, I had all these toys that ended up being ripped apart and pieced together in abominable ways. I still remember the Beastman figure from He-Man that I swapped the lower body with Teela's lower body, and had replaced a broken left arm with a biro.

To have that revealed and a number of killers not wanting to take on swf would pretty much grind "Dead By Daylight" into an unkempt, shallow grave very quickly. It's just not practical.
Judging swf groups overall, they're not all the devastating kill squads they're made out to be. Some are already really good individually, but then it is possible to figure out a strategy to take them on more competitively. It's about learning how to best improve the game, and whilst there will be trials you'd get slaughtered in, it's learning how to improve afterwards.
I'm not against having a chance to see swf post-match out of interest, but then again I can believe some will take notes on who to avoid in future, so I can also see why that may not be a great idea.
The fact remains that swf most likely will never show in lobby. There may be buffs required for both SoloQ and killer, but the pro's towards game health not knowing ironically far outweigh the cons.
-
Judging from this, I firstly see a lot more movies connected to Hellraiser than Candyman, which may allude to more interest and demand for Hellraiser than Candyman. Therefore, it's more logical to assume Hellraiser may attract more. But here are some more observations:
#1. Hellraiser movies both have preceeded and continued after those Candyman movies. This firther supports the idea of a more popular franchise.
#2. In terms of reviews, the first Candyman movie outdoes the first Hellraiser by 3%. It had 70 reviews to Hellraiser's 48 reviews. It could be argued that Candyman 1 is consistently better, or Hellraiser 1 hasn't had as much of an opportunity. Either way, 3% is tight.
#3. In terms of audience scores, Hellraiser was the more popular by a larger 10% margin, but again based upon fewer scores, so the same logic could apply as #2 either way. Although in this case the difference is noticeably greater.
#4. All the sequels to both were not great according to both reviewers and audience opinion. However, the majority of Hellraiser movies surpass the Candyman sequels in both cases. Hellraiser does have the worst reviewed movie, but other than that no other Hellraiser movie is rated worse than the last in the Candyman trilogy, and 6 movies of Hellraiser were rated better by audiences than the second Candyman, and 5 Hellraisers ranked higher by critics than the 2nd Candyman.
#5. Although arguably Candyman has a more mature theme (that of racial prejudice), Hellraiser has a more universal theme of the pleasure/ pain principle that would have a greater empathy with people. Race is something that affects everyone, but Candyman is about a specific side of prejudice, so may not be empathised as much universally.
So ultimately, whilst having Candyman in Dead By Daylight would still be very welcome, it is clear statistically that Hellraiser would be a more populist franchise to go for that would bring more back to BHVR, not to mention an overall better reviewed set of films. Quality is in the eye of the beholder, but it is Hellraiser that makes the most business sense for Dead By Daylight to go for out of the 2.

SBMM has so far actually been fun and challenging! Sure as killer I have been facing groups armed with multiple toolboxes with BNP and 4× torches, but the matches have actually been really fun and the results have been fair (mainly Ruthless killer, sometimes less, none above). To be honest, it's been a large confidence boost that I can hang with the squads (well, some. I have had a couple of devastating defeats, but oh well!).
Survivor has been more mixed, but I don't put that down to bad match-making - moreso just being beaten by a better player. There was only one occassion where a survivor unhooked me under the nose of a very hacked-off Hillbilly which I questioned, but even then that's not to say SBMM was at fault; even really great players make bad plays.
It's been tough, but for me it has definitely been fair overall.
-
As a survivor, it's been a bit scattered. Most matches it's felt balanced with decent survivors, me being able to play up to that level, and the killers feeling slightly easier, but that may be due to better co-ordination. Only one game where I got unhooked right under the nose of a particularily aggressive Hillbilly felt a bit odd, but maybe there was a reason for thay decision.
As killer, I've been up against certainly some swfs (I chatted a little with a couple afterwards, who were nice and friendly), usually armed with either 4 torches or 4 toolboxes with BNP, and I've mostly been getting Ruthless Killer with about 2k on average (although I have had a 0k near-thrashing).
Yet I have to say that whilst the thought of powerful swfs unnerves me, I've actually had some amazingly fun matches with them and the results have certainly given me a lot of confidence, especially since I was using Trapper with randomized perks and offerings! The most fun I've had was against a 4-torch squad on RCPD, especially when threebof them tried palleting and torching me carrying the 4th in a corridor (I lost that, but for a moment though I thwarted them), a tide turning moment as in the courtyard, and finally a strategic trap near the exit that one of them jumped from the balcony and basically stepped into it, securing a 2k then. Not sure if they were swf as didn't converse with them, but they were highly skilled.
-
I'd like something that incorporates the cube as a focal point of the game, in a similar way that the dreamworld clocks or the Jigsaw boxes are. I'm not sure whether it's a configuration that is altered by the Entity to actually allow survivors escape a Hell realm, or these having to be interracted with to perhaps access certain areas, gens or items, at the risk of a more violent and difficult terrain to traverse.
-
Looks like someone got a little annoyed about realising they weren't as good as they thought! If that guy wants to be bitter, then let them be.
I admit my first survivor game today I got absolutely destroyed by a Hillbilly in those blue shorts and normal top on a Yamaoka map. That was down to having a crap game and not playing well. If people admit stuff like that to themselves, then at least they're gonna get better in the long run!
-
Being camped is certainly dull, but there's very little interractivity that could be put in unfortunately. Maybe a chance that if you're being truely face-camped up close and personal you could kick out at the killer, but even then I'd bet more killers would then face-camp just outside the hitbox area to counter it. Also, if survivors are camping nearby too and forcing the killer to stay in the vicinity that can also be frustrating. I think there's very little to be done about that, other than a more empathetic overall change in some player's behaviours. Even then, a few will do that regardless.
Tunnelling could offer more options to deal with: Perks like Decisive Strike are still just as effective. I wouldn't be against an extended stun in exchange for a once-only or more limited use, but removing it after interracting with a gen, etc., was needed. Maybe a slight sprint burst once rescued, but at the same time if a killer is at a stage where it's near the endgame or it's the only option they shouldn't be punished for that neither.
At most, maybe the unhooked gets a mini dead hard after being unhooked to give a little more distance at the start, but otherwise I'd say there's not a great deal to be done without buffing it disproportionately. There may be other suggestions which may work, but I can't think of any at this ridiculously early hour.

How long have you been using that Xbox to play DBD?
Probably a couple of years now, I'd say.
The only couple of things which may have remotely helped this was that I only store games on there I'm actually going to be playing at that time, and uninstall the rest. The other is a decache it weekly - as in disconnect it from every cable. Maybe that was enough to help it with the most recent update, because even when I was having these lag and frame issues it wasn't great, but never seemed as game-destroying as others said.
-
Maybe because you need a proper brew to get through the redactions? Try Yorkshire Tea. Afterall, if it's good enough for Mr. Bean (no, not that one!) then it's good enough to surpass censorship:
https://youtu.be/8cipMoGKXGE -
It's clearly a problem, but it's a very odd issue:
I was having the same lags and fps blips people were having up until the most recent update. However, since 5.1.1 dropped I've not had any problems and the issue is far, far less (I've counted one minor fps blip on Haddonfield after the final gen went).
Yet it's still clearly happening to others, so I'm at a loss as to why this is a thing, unless where I'm located is close to where one of their servers are based. I have an Xbox One 500Gb, so it ought to be having issues, according to the HDD problems they were facing.
-
One possible female-specific killer that could cause a lot of fear could be a banshee. The scream and speed related to banshees could offer both a unique take on a power, yet also a familiar chase-related killer, that really are the most fear-inducing out of all the killers.
