  • I legitimately feel this would be a good way to get a licence with DC Comics to bring Dr. Crane a.k.a. the Scarecrow in!

Besides the potential for a new, exciting power, he has ample opportunities for cosmetics and may bring back some element of fear.

  • I've now got an image of killers giving survivors piggy-banks to the hook!

  • It depends on what type of intelligence, since there are 9 main types. I'll try and identify a killer with each:

    1. Spatial: Viewing the world in 3D. In this case, Shadowborn is the key, and since The Wraith has this power that he teaches others, I'm going to say him.

    2. Naturalistic: Understanding living things and nature. The Huntress has survived in the wilds, learnt how to live in harmony, and effectively taken down armies using her knowledge of nature. She'd be best to survive out there, so she's my choice here.

    3. Musical: Comprehension of music, pitch, tone and rhythm. For once, The Trickster is top of the game. Being a pop star, and experimenting on pushing the boundaries of his music with screams is a unique skill, especially when converting to K-pop.

    4. Mathematical/ Logic: A close one between the Doctor and the Blight, being as both are experts in their field. But for me the Doctor wins. He was handpicked by the CIA, a genius of neuroscience, and published. Also, what edges him over the Blight is that Talbot was careless with his power, resulting in some problems for him. Herman knew how to play the game. The Doctor is my champion here.

    5. Existential: Philosophical contemplation. I'm going for the Pig here, because she was taught by Jigsaw - the man who could really make people question their lives and what is important, having suffered that himself. Amanda also lived through her trial and found her purpose. Sure, she rigged a trap or two, but she knew her purpose, and did aim to get some to see theirs.

    6. Inter-Personal: To read the feelings and inner-working of others. My immediaye response was Adiris, but having thought about it I am going to say Pyramid Head, because it's about knowing and reading people. The Plague led, but I'm doubtful that she "knew" them. Pyramid Head is an extension of the Sun Goddess, which literally transforms an entire town into all your inner turmoil and thoughts. You don't get more interpersonal than that!

    7. Bodily: Co-ordination of mind and body. This is especially tough, as all killers have a good sense of this (depending on who they're being played by!). But for me, The Oni wins this because of his incredible fighting skills, and being able to bring down the best of Samurai warriors. Huntress would also be a good candidate here, but Kazan learned an art to be this good.

Linguistic: Choosing the right words to describe what you want. This is where Adiris wins. For her to uphold the absolite fanaticism her followers had for her, she knew the right things to say and linguistic skills are often strongly sought by leaders. Sure, she captivated people with her beauty, but charisma is where it's at. She used the right words and acted the right way to prove leadership. So Adiris, The Plague, is my victor.

    9. Intra-personal: Knowing who you are, what you feel and what you want. This is also very tough, but I am leaning towards The Ghost Face. He knew who he was, and was clever enough to disguise it. He knew what he felt and wanted by his trophies and desire for the killings. He manipulated a career around himself doing the thing he enjoyed. He is very self-aware and knowing what he is.

  • Create much more unpredictability:

    • Make the maps more muddled, so different jungle gym setups; randomize the number of pallets and lockers; throw aspects of different maps together.

    • Add traps to be wary of. Pits, alarms, instant down traps. Make survivors uncertain of the paths they tread.

    • Change the soundtrack to much more creepy noises, inspired by the maps you play in. If your in the swamps, have creepier creeks, or sounds that sound like swamp water splashing, but distort it into something creepier.

    • Erase security. Have items have a low chance of "failing"; alter that barrier at the exit gates, so survivors aren't sure how far to move forwards until they escape; only nerf perks

Basically, fear is mainly based on not being able go anticipate what is going to happen. Fear is not knowing if the ship will sink/ what is hiding in the darkness/ when will the loneliness end/ will it hurt? The security and knowing has to be taken away, otherwise there is no way fear will ever have a place.

  • So long as it's within the rules, and there are no exploits happening, then it is fair regardless. If you're doing that, it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks because you've done it all within the rules.

I'd query the idea of doing a gen under the killer's nose a "good play" though. It's more a sacrificial risk, and I've grabbed many a player who didn't judge the gen's progress accordingly. That's always fun!

Yeah, I'll just learn how to lose a killer that uses his eyes. I almost never lose a survivor when I'm killer. The problem is how unfair it can feel because they get a cheap speed boost.

I think it's also important to see why bloodlust was introduced originally wayyy back in 1.5. It wasn't in the original game, and therefore may have been brought in partially due to issues with chases.

Obviously, the game has evolved a lot since then, but by remembering it was put in to solve an issue, then in order to remove it, it should make sense that the original problem would also dealt with.

Ultimately, whatever happened, there would always be a backlash to whichever action is taken, and people will see it unfair when others won't. But at present, as that bloodlustless weekend showed, the mechanic is still very much needed, at least until major changes are made - and they would need to be made first before attempting to adjust bloodlust.

  • After the non-bloodlust weekend, it was discovered that removing it was more problematic and created infinite loops, so the idea was largely rubbished and thrown away.

As has been mentioned before, there needed to be some major map and balance changes to make that option viable.

  • There's no question there are some who dc because of poor optimisation, which was the reason the dc penalties were removed in the first place.

Regrettably, some players are taking advantage of this scenario. BHVR did the right thing by removing the penalties due to optimisation, but maybe it was unexpected that the problems were to stretch on as long as they have.

When they unveil the patch we all hope will fix this, I hope they'll reintroduce the penalties either at the same time, or a week later to make sure the patch actually worked.

  • Hehe, easy! I constantly have randomized builds, so quite often there are no meta perks in my build, and it works out fine.

  • I'd like a strategist killer, whereby you can occassionally see the map from above and plot traps or AI beings, at the expense of being slow.

Also, a killer that can add unusual abilities like Pious Augustus from Eternal Darkness, whose power is actually to make it seem like there is something wrong with the player's controls, or make flies start appearing on-screen, or even suddenly for a moment make you shift from healthy to on a hook during the second phase, then back to healthy. Something to mess with the mind and breach the fourth wall, without it being cheesey.

  • A bit like Leon's flash bang? Honestly, I'd be interested in it, but for it to suit all killers I'd make it more a magical offensive perk.

As an example, creating a perk which affects any survivor who works on a regressing gen for less than 3/2/1 seconds, it explodes and causes the blindness and oblivious status for a set period.

Or a perk whereby a killer can mark a point in the map as a trap once every 60 seconds, and can only have one trap active at a time, but if a survivor triggers it, then the Entity strikes them for a quick hit.

Thinking about the latter, I wonder what it would be like to have perks which are weaker versions of an existing killer's power. Like the one above could be a weak version of Trapper or Hag; or create a perk which can only activate briefly every 90 seconds, but acts like a brief flurry of wild swings which can insta-down like Bubba.

  • If I pip-up (unless I'm in Red Ranks, in which case a black pip will do), I'll consider it a win.

  • I think facing newer players it is pretty good, but once more experience is gained then it's not so effective. However, it seems if 2 or more are working on the gen, a mistake from one person can set off a catalogue of errors and explosions.

It could be tweaked for harder difficulty, but then again I do feel that as this is one of the first perks to be learned, it's deliberately directed towards newer players and tightening the screws on the difficulty could make it very frustrating for them.

Possibly at higher levels, combining this perk with the Doctor's abilities, Hunter's Lullaby and such makes it more of a buffer to a particular playstyle.

  • Chuck Dicken! Sounds like either a superhero from Ducktales, or a new restaurant.

  • NOED is a bit like an end-of-level-boss. If I face it as survivor, then it adds another optional objective to get out (if it even gets used at all!). I don't get annoyed at it - I actually relish the challenge.

As killer, I always randomize perks, but if I do get NOED it's a reward for fighting one perk down throughout the match. Really, it doesn't give much in return unless the survivors play badly.

However people look at it, being oblivious or ignorant towards how to deal with it is the way it works best. As survivor, always expect NOED and play stealthy, rather than rushing to a gate for a speedrun attempt. It might sometimes reward bad play, but it mostly punishes bad play by the other side.

  • As much as I love the aesthetics of Midwich, I seem to be consistently good in the Gideon Meat Plant so that takes the win for me.

  • Neither. He will become Bean, Destroyer of Worlds.

He will detonated the biggest paint can ever made, and the universe will be magnolia.

  • The look already feels much darker than the original and has potential to become a lot more visceral.

Loved the game when it comes out, and will remain optimistic this will take horror further.

  • 255795dc-4d15-4264-ad1f-2a4dd62eb486.jpg

I don't think I've experienced frustration in a pure pain form before or since this absolute bastard of a game. I don't think there was anything the controls actually did right.

  • Working on an almost finished gen in a jungle gym, when out of nowhere comes an undetectable Bubba comes revving in. There's only one thing in my mind more scary than that in DBD...

...and that is hearing Myers tier up, but you don't know if he's watching you or someone else.

  • It's got my vote! It will act as both a warning and a punishment for consistent offenders. Just need a little tweaking to make sure those who genuinely disconnect very, very rarely because of a bad connection or power outtage don't get lumped in with the sore losers, but I reckon those would be so rare it shouldn't do so.

  • Although I randomize perks every round, I like the idea of creating builds based on a class, meme or even a character not in the game, but think the perks add up to it. A few ideas:

    Survivor

The Original Prankster (based on The Offspring song): Blast Mine, Smash Hit, Diversion, Head-On

######### Your Hook!: Power Struggle, Boil Over, Flip-Flop, Decisive Strike

The Spy: Dark Sense, Kindred, Object of Obsession, Alert

    Killer

Generation Despair: Hoarder, Surge, Eruption, Unnerving Presence

The Finale: NOED, No Way Out, Remember Me, Bitter Murmur

Scream For Me (hilarious when used on the Doctor!): Dragon's Grip, Infectious Fright, Deathbound, Unnerving Presence

  • It's an interesting concept, and I can see the "Sorry, sorry, sorry" perk causing a lot of disruption, especially during last ditch attempts to save a hooked individuals.

I don't know much about The Craft, but using a height-altering power is a unique take, and is strong but with a drawback to prevent it being ridiculously so.

So yeah, I wouldn't be averse to Nancy being a potential killer.

  • Play how you wish, but try not to become the very problem you had, because then you're playing in a way you've been made to do and not the way you want to do, and be the reason for another player to feel as you do and change accordingly.

If anything, judge each round individually, and don't allow one experience to flow into the other. There will be a lot of dicks, but there are also a lot of decent people. But the worst thing you can do to ruin your fun is let the idiots dictate how you play in every match, rather than see each round as it normally is: 4 new strangers who you have no idea how they are.

  • I don't feel she needs any changes. Her traps are counterable, and although she can teleport, if she gets involved in a chase her slower movement speed works against her. At least Huntress and Deathslinger can shoot stuff, but Hag has to lure them into a jungle gym, layered with her traps. If not, her chase is very tough.

The traps have adequate counterplay with crouching and torches. Torches appear fairly often in chests, so clairvoyance isn't a necessary trait to have. Her trapping around the hook doesn't guarantee a successful camp, especially if she's been dragged outside her teleporting range.

She is a formidable opponent, but by no means in any need of alterations.

  • Yeah, that no longer looks like Cheryl. No idea where all this addict stuff is coming from, but she looks much less like her now.

  • The question would be which killer would I like to see, and whilst Chris Walker is a great choice, much can be said for Trager, the Groom and many other of the killers.

  • The Entity is a cosmic parasite; not a God. It's a small part of something far bigger than itself.

  • It's the equivalent of a kid throwing their toys out of the pram because they didn't get what they want.

I understand why the penalties were disabled, because of the instability, but if the new patch fixes this I do hope they bring them back.

  • I feel a lot can be said for killers like the Hag and Trapper, and that territorial can evolve into not just an item taking a spot, but an area to cover a set area, or play survivors into a difficult 3-gen situation.

  • @VioletCrimes said:

Also to be fair, they do this to him every time he’s in a new media.

Seeing that image, Pyramid Head now reminds me of that scrawny, nerdy guy who was bullied at school, who then went to uni, worked out, trained hard, and at the school reunion 10 years later he strides in a sex God!

  • More about how I play them than guarantee survival. As examples:

The Trapper: Play defensively, and be practical. Suffer no fools.

The Wraith: Hunt like a lion. Be compassionate to survivors and let at least one go if possible - Philip isn't a monster and understands their suffering.

The Hillbilly: Chainsaw ######### EVERYTHING!!!!!! No mercy. Cause chaos.

Remember when the number 4 for the 4th anniversary was the clue and we had no idea?

Hence the "BHVR have hidden clues in crazier places". I do remember someone guessing correctly though on it! Can't remember who, but it was a clever bit of deducing! A few others and me thought Nemesis would be the killer based on similar thinking, but that could be pure luck.

Either which way, Candyman would be a nice addition!

  • Xenomorph or The Terminator would be good additions!

Far less likely would be Walter Sullivan (Silent Hill 4), Madame (Remember Me) or Carnage (Spider-man).

  • There was a quote during the loading screen which went something like "Not the bees!!".

No idea if it means anything or not. BHVR have hidden clues in crazier places.

I created this discussion to be able to discuss non-horror licensed characters because I saw that no one had done it, and if you saw any you could send me the discussion please.

One of my favorite series was How To Get Away With Murder and I think Annalise would be awesome to see and on the other hand there would be a lot of legendary skins like for Michaela, Laurel, Connor, Oliver and Wes and maybe Bonnie or Frank and the amount of costumes there would be too many to choose from. It would be an awesome idea.

Oh, no I wasn't saying there were other discussions like this! I meant I enjoy these more creative posts.

Anyway, here's my killer 6, starting with a very obscure one:

    1. Finn Kelly (Neighbours)

    0_Neighbours-death.jpg

The Aussie soap isn't the first on anyone's list, but if taking the route of Evan MacMillan and having Finn mutated a little, he would fit right in! Finn was manipulative, obsessed with a particular character and not above kidnapping, abuse and murder to get what he wants. His personality disorder after a fall made him normal for a bit, but his evil side fought its way back - aided by the Entity, perhaps?

His power would involve a bow that could have arrows with different effects, and his perks centered around obsessions. One could be an ability to get an exposed effect on anyone except his obsession, if he can avoid hitting the obsession - a bit like "Save the best for last" in a token system.

    2. Villanelle (Killing Eve)

    2x07-29.jpg

Another killer with an unhealthy obsession (she castrated her instructor's husband, due to this), Villanelle is a supreme assassin, skilled in many ways of killing, espionage and infiltration. Her warped, child-like character is equally terrifying and hilarious. She is am expert at most weaponry, which may be her power.

A power allowing to switch between long-range and short-ranged weaponry would suit her happily, and her perks would centre around obsession and infiltration. One perk could be an inverted version of the old OoO perk, that if the survivor looks in the direction of the killer outside a certain radius, the killer will see their aura for a brief period of time, and the survivor would get a brief notification after 2 seconds, so the survivor won't be exactly sure when they were looking at the killer. A cooldown perk.

    3. Psycho Mantis (Metal Gear Solid)

    psycho-mantis_metal-gear-solid_gallery_5c4bb0d8826e0.jpg

A psychic member of FOXHOUND, a deep psychoc dive into a sick criminal made him psychotic and vengeful against humanity and their obsessions with sex. He controls peoples' minds and perceptions, making him a formidable foe.

His power would focus around his famous battle against Snake, with the ability to mess up the survivor plauer controls. He'd be only the 2nd 3.8m/s killer as Nurse, but using this power could cause great problems for survivors. His perks could also mess with what the player knows, such as seeing the closest gen to completion's status, including the bar survivors see to indicate progress, or randomly disable a perk or perks for a limited period of time.

    4. Astrid Voorhees (Remember Me)

    astrid.jpg

No relation to Jason, sorry! Astrid is the Governor of La Bastille in this sci-fi adventure in a world where memories are bought and sold and shared at will. Astrid is known as "Madame" and revels in ripping memories out of people, causing much pain and suffering. She is cold, callous and power-hungry.

Her power could involve digital copies of herself that glitch yet fight like her as an M1 killer. Also, she can throw digital meteors at survivors, that can scramble their brains, and maybe alter memories - so survivors may started glitching, or seeing objects that aren't there. Imagine taking time to break a totem that never existed, or not seeing gens! Perks can involve the ability to cause confusion with interractions. Opening a gate with intensely difficult skill checks, or being unable to ise items, having "forgotten how to".

    5. Sylar (Heroes)

    SYLAR-heroes-397511_1000_1500.jpg

In this superhero tv series, Sylar was the main bad. Seemingly able to use any special power another hero has, his ability actually lay in understanding and knowing how things worked, whether it be a clock or a brain, so long as he got to tinker with it. The killing was an unfortunate side-effect to the pursuit of knowledge.

His power would be able to understand how a survivor works. After downing a survivor, he could learn their perks and use them as his own. Knowing if a survivor has Kindred, so as to know where everyone is, or Dead Hard for a brief spurt to close distance on survivors would be very unpredictable. Perks can involve learning how survivors do things, so faster regression on gens or rebuilding a downed Hex totem.

    6. Adrea Spedding (The Spider Woman)

    715ccf86b446cbc4045f21a1f1dff161.png

Ending on an oldie from Sherlock Holmes, Adrea is the epitome of the Black Widow. She seeks wealthy men and kills them using venom from a spider called Lycosa Carnivora. She's ultimately apprehended, but she doesn't work alone, and her eight-legged friends cause a lot of damage.

Her power would involve a timed toxin that could kill a survivor after a while, causing visual and audio distortions as it advances. She might also leave a nest of spiders that, if disturbed or not burned, could overwhelm survivors into a cocoon and instant death.

  • Firstly, I love these type of topics!

So, I'll do this post with survivors only, and will try to give characters that are perhaps less known, alongside why and a perk idea (not developed, but jist a thought):

    1. Dr. Sam Beckett - (Quantum Leap)

    Quantum-leap-quantum-leap-2214814-450-338.jpg

"Quantum Leap" was a late 80's/early 90's sci-fi show that was bloody brilliant! Sam Beckett developed a machine that allowed him to time travel within his own life time and leaping into people who would either suffer or witness suffering within days, which he would need to "right what once went wrong".

His perks could focus around his leap ability. A powerful, one-time perk could be if a survivor is injured and in a chase within a certain distance, he could "leap" into that survivor (the survivor jumping into his body) and fully heal both him and the other character, yet play as each other (perks included) for a set time, before leaping back.

    2. Annalise Keating - (How To Get Away With Murder)

    Annalise-Keating-s3.png

A brilliant defense attorney and law professor who selects 5 students to work in her firm, who then become embroiled in the complex murder of her partner Sam. Annalise is a shrewd and protective of her students, but also extremely self-confident and clever enough to manipulate politics.

As a perk idea, her defensive and protective character with those under her wing means if she takes a protective hit whilst the killer is carrying a survivor, the survivor gains an instant 30%/40%/50% to their wiggle bar.

    3. Snake Plissken - (Escape from New York; Escape from L.A)

    snake_plissken_movie_jacket-800x800.jpg

A former war hero during WWIII, Snake became a criminal in response to some dastardly deeds by the U.S.A government that involved the death of his family and loss of sight in one eye. Still, he's dragged into working for them, venturing into these city-now-prisons to retrieve the President.

Snake is a cynical, stern individual, but only will kill out of absolute necessity. He does jobs nobody else would, and this could result in perks that put him directly in the killer's way. One perk could be a cooldown where a pallet stun leaves killers stunned for longer; making him the obsession.

    4. Jennifer Tate - (Primal)

    ac406e4b132a5a80f4da832c8cdda953.jpg

A street-wise rocker and general bad-ass who was dragged into Oblivion in this fantasy game about demons (both good and bad) where the scales of order and chaos are broken, and Jennifer is guided by a gargoyle (Scree) to discover her own demon heritage.

Perks can be based on her demon powers, but I like the idea of Scree being a perk, where a survivor can set him loose and he'd send a notification to alert the survivor of the killer's whereabouts, or even delay the killer for a bit. He could be an AI for survivors.

    5. Preston Garvey - (Fallout 4)

    Preston_Garvey.png

The leader of the Minutemen suffered the loss of all his comrades, and ultimately gave that title to the protagonist (although you wouldn't know it!). He is determined to do good in the Wasteland; helping those under attack from raiders and other enemies, so as to rebuild civilisation and revitalise the Minutemen

A joke perk could range around his constant nagging for people to attend another settlement that needs the protagnists help. If a killer injures a survivor, Garvey gets a notification as to where it is. If he then touches another survivor, they see a notification of where the survivor is (not Garvey) and then gain a haste, unhooking and healing timed buff applied to that survivor in connection with the injured survivor only. However, if the selected survivor doesn't get within a set distance of killer or survivor within a certain time, Garvey is annoyed and the survivor suffers a minor gen slowdown for a brief time afterwards.

    6. Zoë Castillo - (Dreamfall: The Longest Journey)

    d1iabgz-9476e269-3c41-4343-b290-dce3fcc1df63.jpg

Zoë was looking for her boyfriend, who disappeared following an investigation into "Project Alchera": a conspiracy by the company Waticorp to create a dreamer console under the guise of advanced VR-like gaming console, which actually can be used to manipulate the iser into murder and suicide, amongst others. Zoë finds herself between the high-tech world she lives in, and a strange fantasy world that is actually real.

Her perks could reflect a survivor equivalent to Freddy's dreamworld, as she is effectively caught in her own version, able to use advanced tech with magic. One perk could allow her to temporarily disappear into an alternate world where gens do not exist, but she is able to see items others cannot find in the real trial. The killer also appears in this world, but as a black shadow of its frame. In the real world, the survivor will flit in and out of vision, as with Freddy when survivors are awake.

  • Donated.

Still am shocked that she needs all those transplants, and the healthcare system won't do anything without payment in advance. I know it's vastly different where I'm from, but by everyone paying into it, then there wouldn't be this stress on her or her family.

I wish her a speedy recover.

  • Oh, that is about as textbook reportable as you can get. No way should you put up with that crap!

  • Sounds similar to something I've seen on YouTube:

    https://youtu.be/pUtWPmuzvPk

  • It's been pretty varied my end. Actually, if anything, I've been seeing more Myers recently!

I am all for making it easier for them but still a bit hard so they can actually learn something.

Agreed, hence what my original post was saying.

  • Three I wouldn't mind seeing:

#1. A university campus. Mainly the outdoors, but there's still plenty of opportunities to create a contemporary map.

#2. A monastry. Including the grounds. Maybe have it partially intact and partially ruined.

#3. An Oracle. A Greek ruin with the temple of the Oracle as the centrepiece, but mainly an outdoor map with fallen pillars and ruins on a cliff, so beyond the walls you could see the ocean.

  • That would be brilliant! Imagine him getting downed and instead of screaming he shouts "It's okay! That was my mistake!"

    Bloody brilliant idea! 👍
