  • So long as it's a successful fix then I don't want to know the specifics, because if I can read what they've done then so too can a hacker, and then the whole problem goes back to how it was again.

  • I tell you what: for a Bait Post, this actually got some mileage! I saw this when it first came up and thought: "Nah, not going there. Bait" and left it, but coming back - you've given it some legs. Good work!

Annoyingly this has probably given me some false hope. Would the devs put the most broken perk on the shrine only to nerf it in the PTB later on that very same day? I really hope so!

It would be hilarious if they did! I doubt it would though. If there are changes to it, I'd wager it would be when Ringu comes out, if any changes are made at all.

Double exposed causes Survivors hit to instantly DC

Double exposed is like a double negative. Hit a healthy survivor, and that survivor gains the Endurance status for 60 seconds.👍

So far this morning I've read that 4 prominent influencers for the game have decide they will (at least temporarily) leave the game, citing Elden Ring as a possible alternative.

A quick note here: those creators would've gotten into Elden Ring no matter the state of the game, a couple of them started with the Souls community in the first place and Elden Ring is a huge game a lot of people (me included) have been waiting for a long time.

With this I'm not saying their opinions need to be dismissed or that the game can't improve, I'm just pointing out that Elden Ring is not the main factor in this.

Firstly, thank you for your reply. I appreciate you reading this.

To confirm, and maybe this wasn't clear, but Elden Rings isn't what I'm getting into here. What I was relating to was that they're actively talking about leaving the game (albeit temporarily). Elden Rings isn't the issue, but moreover what they are actively saying about their channels.

It's illustrative of influencers having the ability to change focus of their channel if they feel the only alternative they have to be taken seriously is by leaving the game.

I appreciate what you're saying about Elden Ring and it is just a quick note, but what I'm trying to say is they wouldn't be leaving DBD content behind entirely. Yes, they'd buy Elden Rings, but if they were happier they'd still be releasing DBD content. By the sounds of it, they're leaving it behind, and that's the issue at hand.

The post you quoted and your reply made it seem like you were saying something else. I didnt go back to see what you said that got quoted from the person you quoted. My apologies. Though I stand by what i said

Apology accepted, and for what it's worth what you were saying about things such as where does the line get drawn, I do agree with. For example, just because Bubba wears Smart Face doesn't mean that player is racist. Nor is it racist to BM Smart Face (it's a jerk move). It's only when clear intent is shown that is can be deemed racist, and by "clear" I mean actually saying something of that offensive nature.

So we are both agreeing in that respect. And I greatly respect you acknowledged the misinterpretation. Takes a person of good character to admit an error. Props👍

And how many people got tunneled by a smartface and nothing was said afterwords? How many claudettes got tunneled and assumed it was racist?

If nothing was said then you cant assume racist intent. Just equipping the cosmetic isnt racist.

If racist comments were made in post game chat, why are those players not banned because of said comments? Regardless of cosmetics worn?

If i tunnel claudette as doctor or hag am i still racist for playing a black character as a white man? Am i abusive of women if i use Trickster to target female characters?

I can't stand Jane's voice does that mean i hate latino people?

Where does the line get crossed? How far can i go before im unintentionally bigoted for playing a game?

I don't know what on Earth you're on about. If nothing is said, then it's not racist. If a Smart Face Bubba tunnels a survivor, that is not racist. In fact the very damn post you are quoting CLEARLY states there has to be clear intent of racism, which the very examples you gave are agreeing EXACTLY with my examples at the end!

Please read the post properly before commenting!

Everyone Complaining About this Developer Update Needs to Chill.

Express your woes and frustrations about the issues that haven't been addressed, but ffs wait a day (at least) until PTB is out to complain about the perk and add-on changes.

Maybe it doesn't help that seemingly arbitrary add-ons have been touched without the thought behind it expressed there-in, but I'm seeing too many people talking out of their [BAD WORD] about things they don't want to try and understand.

    #It's Gonna Be Me# to #Say Something# here, but #This, I Promise You#:

#Until The End Of Time# it'll be a case #The Other Side# will complain of the #Filthy# treatment they get. They'll be upset at receiving all #The Hard Stuff#, and the opponents get #Not A Bad Thing#

#Only When I Walk Away# and enjoy the game without the #Murder# that is the strange, biased arguments do I feel #Right For Me# and get my #Sexy Back#

No idea if that makes sense, but you try putting as many Justin Timberlake songs into a cohesive response!

  • I'm stoked that us console players get to do some testing now! I've always wanted to give feedback on new propositions, so this is great for me!

All the other stuff looks interesting. I think they may have missed out discussing some of the communities bigger issues with perks like COH, DH and NOED, but maybe they're trying to balance some lesser-used perks first before looking at those. By the way, I don't mean acting like the community wants; just saying what their thoughts are.

But anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how this all plays out!

  • Never fear! There is always tomorrow, and I don't believe COH or DH has appeared on the Shrine of Secrets yet!

Maybe the devs haven't forgotten, but their response may not be what you think!

  • Yup! This is the definition of a hate crime, according to the police:

    Screenshot_20220104-214755_Chrome.jpg

This refers to anyone who clearly states something for racial intent. For example: If I teabag a Smart Face Bubba and be a general arse in game, but say nothing afterwards, then that's obviously not a hate crime. However, if I do the same, and then insult the person afterwards because they had a black face and slur them because of it, that is a hate crime.

I can see some of your points, but I still disagree the removal of the cosmetics is efficient (or effective for that matter). My ire is aimed at both admittedly. Of course I'm upset with the a-hole trolls/racists, but I am also upset with BHVR for taking an action that punishes the entire community in an effort to mitigate the actions of a few. It just doesn't seem logical to me is all, but that's just my take. I realize it ultimately matters not since they are making/made the change.

I think that term "effective" is what still worries me. Not at you, but there is something I feel we can both agree on is the effectiveness against racism.

Whilst removing the masks may remove a tool, it doesn't suddenly make that player magically go "Oh my goodness, I was wrong after all! I must repent!", and whilst that moron won't be using the mask as an excuse for bigotry, it doesn't stop them from using abusive terms in-chat.

Maybe, if it is stamped out, then they may reinstall them because, as I've maintained, the masks themselves are not racist. Maybe we, as a community, need to do something about it as well.

  • I think they said it was happening this Wednesday a few days back, so no delay as far as I am aware; going ahead as scheduled.

It would've been better for BHVR to develop and implement a better reporting system that actually helps to target these specific players' actions. Instead BHVR chose to take the easy way out and remove a neutral tool that was being used improperly by a very small percentage of people.

With the sheer volume of people making false reports because they feel bitter over the smallest of things, dealing with a multitude of investigative cases with only a finite number of employees to deal with the case load, making a report system that would work as you say would be impossible.

Also, keeping something in that some braindead racist decides to weaponise would mean that the problem would never be sold.

Even if the perfect system existed to do what you think, and the amount of people they could employ was infinite, by keeping the tool in place means the reports would be the equivalent of putting a plaster on a broken leg. It's not lazy, but it is efficient. And efficiency is the way to go.

For the record, I feel it's a shame the masks have gone. But instead of aiming frustration at people trying to combat hate crimes, aim it at those who pricks who caused this to happen.

  • I'm not one who normally insults, but with the amount of absolute craziness about Bubba, has the SCP Foundation dropped a memetic IQ bomb in the algorhythm, rendering some people completely idiotic?

And now teabags are being compared to racism.... I've heard it all now. And I'll regret saying that, because guaranteed someone is gonna better this trash.

  • If I remember correctly, the faces were free to start with. They would become unlockable after killing 25× of the respective survivor. So, 25 Dwight deaths = Dwight mask. During the time where there weren't many survivors, this was a very simple task. A free cosmetic for a simple task.

Now the masks are being removed, compensation of shards is being made. This is literally the very definition of "money for nothing".

The reason for the removal was because of the weaponisation of the masks, not the actual masks themselves. Besides this, BHVR have not removed a purchase that has been made; they are removing a freebie and giving shards in return.

  • Looking forward to turbo zombies!

Crimson Head zombie add-on when? C'mon BHVR, you have the iridescent colouring and everything!

  • Hey, it's not tomorrow yet! Give them some time and maybe Circle of Healing will be featured. Afterall, the Shrine of Secrets updates, and I've also heard Dead Hard hasn't been seen for a while on their neither!😁

I see more people unhappy than happy with the decision. It's generally agreed that harassment can be a problem, but most people I've seen on the forum said it's a dumb way to deal with this problem.

Mainly because they lose something they're accustomed to. In the end, there are people out there who complain that they don't do enough to combat harrassment, but when BHVR do then some get upset about that. They can't win, so in this case it's guaranteed the racial harrassment would continue if the masks stay, so the only guaranteed way of dealing with it is removing it.

Trying to educate racists in a game is not going to work, because of internet anonymity. Believe me, I wish there was another way, but I cannot see it.

Well, there is one way, but it involves the report system and an eternal backlog of complaints to sift through before anything is done. It would take too long, and although a racist won't stop if tools are removed, they have less opportunity to be this way than before in-game. If it ruins the fun, they leave. They leave, then it's good for everyone.

  • Whilst it is a shame, I absolutely agree with the decision.

The faces themselves were never a problem. Bubba wears any face (which is oddly inclusive!), and the cosmetic itself was fun. However, when people start using them for intentionally racially-motivated forms of harrassment then it's clear it cannot stay, because of how people weaponised it.

On reading responses, it's refreshing to see more people supporting this, and also well done to BHVR for not only combating this, but also compensating the loss of masks in such a way as they have. It also shows they do work towards a non-harrassment policy.

  • I like the difficulty of it. I do play both sides, but with killer the role can be much more challenging.

The only complaint is playing killer had been, for some time, like playing the good guy. It feels like the person who was beaten and left for dead is going back for revenge against a group of bandits, Clint Eastwood-style. I'd prefer it to feel like the role it's meant to be.

    • Matchmaking fixes in this patch have most definitely been asked for
    • Buffing information for solo survivors to bring them to swfs is something I personally have said is the best way to balance them
    • Wiggles as skill checks has been asked for a couple of times. And it's a natural extension of the similar change they made to second hooks.
    • Toggle interactions is I think something that was asked for periodically in relation to people who have wrist or finger problems. (Likewise with the Wiggles)

I don't know if anybody asked for the patching speed optimizations, and nobody even knew the Beta tab could be a thing, but the rest are things that have been suggested before (some more often than others).

Also, don't forget this was Part 1 of 2 today. Tomorrow they'll announce more upcoming stuff, including possibly a balance pass on Mikaela and her perks including Boon Circle of Healing. (We're about due to see Mikaela's pass.)

Finally regarding cheaters even if they're working on something to help catch cheaters they probably wouldn't announce it. They'd just implement it in the background and do a ban wave. So just because they didn't say anything doesn't mean they're unaware of the problem or aren't working on it.

Just to add about the patches that there have been occassion discussions made about how long it takes to download the small updates. It's not one of the biggest complaints, but it has been made.

Overall, I think part 1 is a good start, and am looking forward to reading part 2.

  • The pyramid in that room is the Flauros: In the first game, it was used by Harry Mason (or tricked, rather) to weaken Alessa enough so Dahlia could drag her away to complete a ritual that would birth a god.

  • Point 4 is perhaps the worst offender, because some individuals have not learnt how to argue constructively and have an extreme lack of empathy. Everything seems to be taken so personally, as if someone saying they feel a perk needs to be changed is like saying someone's mum is better off dead. It's something that's not helped by anonymity, which the interweb provides in spades.

People can't always control their emotions, but the best thing to do when feeling riled is to take a break before replying. Remember the person is only expressing their opinion and are more likely to see your side if you're willing to be reasonable. Doesn't mean they'll agree, and they don't have to, but they'll be more willing to listen.

    @Dino7281 said:

You forgot best argument: You think it's not true? Hmm, you must be low MMR and I am the highest MMR ever recorded!

Also, I completely get this internet snobbery! Back in day, when I was a yung'en, the Silent Hill forums jad a classic line; one which people felt would silence all people who disagree: "Any TRUE Silent Hill fan would know...". My God, that was tedious!

But overall, people ought to see the value of a newer player or lower MMR is just as valuable as higher, because this is where people may see thing experienced people have missed, or have a far better understanding of issues at lower ranks. Maybe even spot where their turning point is from enjoying the game to noticing issues. Sure, some issues could be dealt with as they become more experienced, but others can also be just as valid. Just like high MMR may have more experience and understanding, but likewise blind to other things.

There's value to be seen at all levels, with all opinions.

  • It's quite subjective, but mine vary depending on which side I'm on.

As killer, the ones I most enjoy playing are: The Trapper; The Hillbilly; The Demogorgon; The Executioner

As survivor, the ones I enjoy playing against are: The Hillbilly; The Shape; The Plague; The Demogorgon; The Oni, The Executioner; The Blight; The Twins; The Nemesis; The Artist

Some killer perks banned would be used.

I am sure we would see Lethal Pursuer, Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance. Not sure about others, but Coup de Grace can work too for extra kills.

I am suprised noone used Deadlock, it was banned for pool 1 only.

I clearly need to do more research on what Autism does.

Executive function basically affects planning, organisation and time management. It makes the simplest of tasks sometimes feel like quantum physics, so in terms of the perks mentioned it may help plan how to escape and also where to go.

Not all autistic people have this, but according to a study in 2018 it's estimated 80% of people with autism live with this. Being on the spectrum myself, I can say this can be extremely frustrating.

  • I don't get the whole banned perk idea. Seems completely arbitrary. I'd be more interested in a tournament which perhaps had perks put in groups of usefulness, and the players have to pick 1 from eaxh group and cannot reuse the perks until all have been done.

Looking at the killer setups, it's as if the same choices may have been made, whether the 9 perks were banned or not.

I'd actually like a tournament whereby players have to use a whole load of unique setups. Maybe that might be devised in future?

  • Absolutely I'll be testing it! Really glad we console players get the opportunity to trial things out and give feedback on new ideas.

  • I can imagine a world where every survivor ends up running to a corner of the map and self-caring like crazy at early levels, were this to be implemented.

Perks don't need to be added to base kit, but the idea of improving the HUD to give information to boost SoloQ up to swf is a far better idea. Information is more important, and part of the game excitement is the limited options for healing and safety. With COH and various other healing perks available, Self-Care should stay as a perk.

I agree everyone makes mistakes. But even kindred doesn't guarantee getting unhooked b4 2nd status. And while Otz is a very good killer he (no offense) is nowhere near his killer skills when it comes to survivor. I would rate him low-average. He even lacks knowleadge when it comes to overall survivor gameplay strategies and in game decision making that could make up for his average looping skills. Not trying to offend anyone but Otz isn't a good example for high skilled survior gameplay.

I'll be honest, I have only seen Otz do killer mostly, and accept what you say. However, I still reckon that his competency in survivor would still be good enough, due to how much he plays. I was moreso expressing about how people with many hours in the game can still make basic errors, and whilst Kindred doesn't guarantee it has worked more often than not from my trials. And even then, it doesn't illustrate incompetency every time (not saying you're saying that).

Thanks for the feedback and yeah I should have made it clear about the link

Your welcome, and no worries about the link; I just had a momentary lapse of reason and forgot how to copy.😆

  • Not that this would happen, but rather than a licence I'd like an original chapter with a deep connection to the central lore, but then on top of that introduce a few new maps, rather than just one.

  • *3 Killer Perks*

    *Perk*: 11

*Description*: You've never done anything quietly. Once you damage a generator, a soundwave shoots out in a 24m radius. Any survivor within the blast suffers from the _deafened_ effect (all sound is heavily muffled and non-directional) for 30 seconds.

If survivors are within 2/3/4 metres of the blast, they lose a health state if healthy, or broken for 60 seconds if injured already. 11 has a cooldown of 60/50/40 seconds.

    *Perk*: Last Hurrah

*Description*: They fought hard, but you won't let them leave. Once the final gen is done, the perk activates. Any survivor who has been hooked once will have their aura shown to the killer whenever they are within 4m of the Exit Gates. Once they start the gates, they become _oblivious_ for the remainder of the trial and exposed if within the opened Exit Gate. Killer gains a 2/3/4% haste effect for the rest of the game.

    *Perk*: Anger Management

*Description*: Being hurt puts you in a rage. Whenever you get stunned by pallets, lockers or flashlight, you gain 1 token. For each token, you can break 1 unused pallet or, if hitting a survivor armed with a torch, will force them to drop the flashlight and lose 50% of the total charge the torch can hold. Killers can hold up to 1/2/3 tokens at a time.

  • On Xbox, whenever a message is sent that contains abuse it normally comes with a "potentially harmful" message I need to click to read. Maybe, if the message is opened and turns out it is (and it always has been) there should be an option to agree that the message was potentially harmful, and it be sent straight against the persons profile. Obviously, I understand that's an Xbox messaging system, but if an option which sends a response with player ID to BHVR was possible that may provide a quicker punishment.

Messages which are abusive ought to always be reported without fail. Best thing to do is report and block. I admit I answer back, but with humour and in unexpected ways. Last one was a sailor Steve player who was peeved I beat him as a 1 perk (tier 1 Stridor) nurse. It wasn't a bad message (typical: "hahahahaha n00b killer" boring thing) and I replied: "Alright, you try playing a game whilst being suffocated by sheeting, Popeye!". Seemed to actually cheer him up and he actually apologised!

Problem is that far more insults actually can cut deep and are unacceptable. My advice is to mainly block and report, but also at the end of games make a point to only message with complimentary comments. I get many nice messages back and by doing that it may well take the edge off times when some prick tries to slur you. Certainly shows there are nicer people out there and always good to surround yourself in the knowledge there are a lot of good guys out there.

  • I much prefer SBMM to how it was before. There are certainly some improvements that need addressing, especially for newer players who get shafted with stronger players, but this problem was far worse before SBMM was introduced.

Rather than a petition to get rid of it, suggestions as to how people feel they can competently improve this to be put forward would vastly improve.

Besides, many petitions end up being a complete waste of time, and BHVR are more likely to work on the new system than scrap it entirely

  • @Veinslay said:

Nemesis will be in a good spot once he gets his rocket launcher

That could be a Tier 4 option when, rather than a mutation, a rocket launcher pack randomly appears on the map, alongside a charging station that produces a missile every 90 seconds or something, where Nemesis can collect it and use it as an instadown within area of effect that injures in a radius outside of that.

Yeah, I was a dunce. I've done it now - only little feedback was one question asking whether you were a survivor main or killer main, but didn't give an option for 50/50 (which is what I am). I put down the side I enjoy more, but that option may be useful. Otherwise, good survey, and especially liked the idea about suggesting new mechanics.

  • I'd love to help, but your link isn't responding on my phone for some reason. If there's another way I'd gladly help.

  • You need to elaborate much more than you have. It's extremely vague and doesn't clarify which disabilities you are refering to and what aspects of the game you are refering to.

Also, if there are games which do cater to the disability or disabilities you are referencing, it would be helpful that you point this out and explain why those games are better for you.

  • Did that # at the end of the red guy's meltdown get blocked out by the chat filter? That's actually quite clever!

Anyway, glad you had backup there. Red is a prime example why parents shouldn't let their toddlers play these type of games.

  • It does feel exasperating, but then I also remind myself that I'm not a mind-reader and they may be thinking somebody else is going to rescue me.

On occassion I can see all 3 a fair distance away, but when one suddenly starts being chased, if the others notice this they come to save me.

SoloQ does have this extra challenge, but whenever I've had an aura-reading perk in my arsenal at least one other survivor has come to my aid efficiently.

It's not so much that my fellow survivors are "bad"; moreover they just do not have that information and also there are many other factors that may result in them not coming for the save (close to finishing a gen, killer nearby, healing, feel they are too far away).

Finally, an unpopular opinion: Let's not pretend it's always the other survivors being bad. I guarantee everyone has been that survivor that has irrated others and it happens at every level. I watched a Dowsey video on a survivor challenge where Dowsey actively told Otz of a trap directly in front of him, was very clear and yet Otz still ran into it, despite no pressure. People make mistakes, but doesn't mean they are bad. Use some empathy and realise you have been that guy in other trials. Besides, there is always next trial.
