Clown is beautiful. A mankini would underline that.

Undermine it, more like. Why can't clown just wear something like a normal pair of swimming speedoes?

We have skins with pustules, open wounds and birth defects.

But you ask for a puke bag because of a mankini?

    Like... really?

Damn right! Postules, birth defects and such cannot be helped and everyone is beautiful really, in their own, natural way.

A mankini isn't natural. It's the Devil's influence on the fashion industry, and there is no beauty in that!

    So, yeah ... really.😁

I could understand Shirtless Myers to be off the table, due to license issues.

But nothing stops them from introducing a Mankini for the Clown.

Common human decency and the lack of puke bags in existence stops a mankini for the Clown.

  • And this is where Dead By Daylight makes the smooth transition to Dead Or Alive.

  • There have been some trials I've been in where an early self-sacrifice still meant 2-3 of us leaving, either by still overcoming the odds or a very generous killer. So the game is not always over if that happens, and there's still the chance to practice chases and such.

But for early suicides, I have no respect. Granted, there may be a rare survivor who dies early or afk's because of something irl which means they have to, and that's fair - qnnoying, but fair. However, I am pretty certain that's not the same for the majority. Basically, don't be a ######### because of an early down. Because make no bones about it: people who die early for a crybaby reason are exactly that.

  • EGC can be started either by survivor or killer, so a tactical movie by a killer sporting Blood Warden would be down a survivor, open the gates and then hook.

Survivors also can use it to avoid that scenario and build time to make the last save, and again an opportunity may arise for the killer that what looked like it ought to have been 1k can turn into a 3-4k because of the altruism.

The main thing is that EGC means there is an end coming. Before, some survivors could open both gates and still mess around, hide and hold the game hostage. Now, the killer can open it to cause pressure, and also once it does open survivors know the time is limited.

The game is vastly better for EGC.

  • I'd be onboard with that! What would you make its power?

I agree that both should be communicating. To further on your example of a car being driven for 45 years. Yes the mechanic knows how it actually works but the owner is the one who is actually driving it. You can replace every part with something brand new but you will have no idea how it performs until you actually use it. The person who is driving said car day after day knows when something is out of place.

In BHVRs case I don't think they listen to their players at all. I get the impression the balance team assumes they know whats best. Despite several patches that absolutely broke the game and we warned them ahead of time what would happen. Yet they did it anyway.

Not saying it's entirely down to this, but I do feel some conduct themselves when making a concern in a completely child-like manner, full of insults and abuse. If I were someone reading that feedback, I'd ignore all of those people. Also, things said by the devs are used completely out of context against them - the Civilization argument being a prime example.

A reassessment of how each side communicates with each other would be a good start. The devs do make errors, as does every single person on here in their lives, and likewise having someone call another out on that error and belittling them is just not intelligent.

Nothing wrong with people being critical (I certainly disagree with their idea of skill!), but do it in a way which doesn't come across like it's being spoken by a 5 year old.

  • A few reasons:

I randomize my build every single game. It's amazing how useful some perks are that are often overlooked because of people using the same, predictable builds.

I go into a game with the aim of improving a specific area of my game. Some games I aim for an escape or 4k; some I aim to get better at chases or being chased. The variety of goals, so long as I still work with other players (if I'm a survivor), keeps things fresh.

I play sometimes in character of the survivor or killer. For example, I look at the description (e.g.: nervous leader for Dwight) and act as I think I would with that character.

Each trial is a mini-slasher movie, which means it tells a separate story.

Finally, I only message positively if I instigate a conversation. It's brilliant how many respond positively back! If I get salt, I try to make them laugh or respond in character, but always with humour.

  • I feel that says much more about your mind than anything else.

TTV streamers are not automatically monsters, and most I've come across have been fine. Very few are demons; non-TTV streamers are the same.

The word "disgust" sounds very aggressive for such a petty thing. I'd look into that issue really.

  • The ranking system has been abolished, so instead it's changed to a monthly grading system. This resets to Ash every month and is not indicative of the skill of a player, but moreso how often someone plays.

The MMR is now hidden and is based on whether you escape or die/ how many kills.

Because the MMR doesn't currently decay over time of non-use, you're probably being thrown at the deep end, depending on how good you were before. The devs are looking into this issue.

That's the objective view of it. No doubt you'll read many more subjective views as it goes along, but that's as basic and factual as I can make it.

  • Oddly, a great idea for a reveal trailer!

  • Something I don't understand with this argument is how a HUD saying what survivors are doing affects map awareness. As SoloQ myself, I am not aware of what my team is doing unless I actually see it. If I cannot see what my team is doing, that's not bad map awareness. It's just how it is. A SoloQ player will not know what is happening around the map all the time with fellow survivors.

It doesn't stop me from being observant to what I can see, spotting which directions a survivor is running to, etc., so honestly for me this won't have any effect in terms of map awareness. It's just knowing they aren't hiding in a locker.

I'd also consider that, if survivors have that HUD, then could a killer share a similar thing? Not to say where they are, but to say what is happening, at least in terms of who is doing generators. It will create a new type of approach towards the game. Could make it fresh.

  • It wouldn't necessarily be that much help, considering it only shows nearby survivors and it's really knowing what survivors are doing the other side of the map that's more important.

In terms of boosting the SoloQ, a more effective strategy would be to do what Identity V has in place. They show what action a survivor is doing by their icon. At least you get an idea of what the others are doing.

  • Not saying this accounts for the majority, but I am of the impression some of these discussions are made purely for trolling purposes. Either for attention, likes or notoriety.

Some will be concerns raised by authentic people too. For those people, I feel there are many explanations above that have already covered this.

  • I agree with OP. Whilst I certainly have questions about his views on skill and such, to actively insult someone for having an opinion is not constructive at all, and if anything it weakens the argument against him, because it shows those opponents as people who aren't capable of debating with reason, which harms the discussion.

I mean, if I was to discuss that a perk is OP (for example), someone who disagrees is better to argue why they feel it isn't. An invalid argument is "You would think it's OP, because you're a twat". Does nothing. Pointless verbal puke.

It is very possible to argue a point without resorting to being abusive. I still disagree with what he said, but am I wanting him to leave and going to insult him because of what he thinks? No.

  • My bias would say buy Executioner, based upon being a huge Silent Hill fan and a disliking for Ghost Face.

My logic says buy Ghost Face for better perks and stealth-like ability. Pyramid Head has stealth perks, but it's a different style of stealth compared to the hooded numpty.

Finally, my value for money logic says get _Silent Hill_ so you get a survivor with it.

  • It's a free reward for playing a game that ultimately allows the player to get an outfit for free (more, depending on what you're looking for). Alongside events which give iridescent shards sometimes (like the winter event), and free cosmetics on the rift, it feels to me perfectly fine now.

Actually, a thank you to the devs for including shards as part of event awards. I've always wanted another way to gain them besides just levelling them up, and I know this is delayed, but I feel it's a nice gesture to include them.

  • Unpopular opinion: the more I play it, the more I like it, although maybe it can be balanced with a few less pallets.

It's an alternative to other maps, as it could be turned into a more hide-and-seek map, instead of loop-da-loop map. Certainly adds variety to the typical maps that basically follow the same examples of finding a loop, using loop till pallet drops, then on to next loop, which does get ridiculously repetitive.

But yeah, back on to the actual question, having a hook anywhere in the library would be appreciative.

  • MMR is an improvement on the original system - I certainly wouldn't want to revert back to how it originally was!

It does need improvements, and whilst I do agree that kills and surviving consistently overall does include skill, I don't necessarily agree that this is the best way forward for match-making, and feel it's far more complex than they put across.

But thinking about it, with the bizillion requests BHVR get for changes to this, that and the other, the easiest solution is win/loss, such as a league table. It would be best not to pretend it's skill-based though. Change it to WLMM (Win Loss Match Making).

  • It's not an ideal explanation, but in terms of a simplest solution it does make sense that escaping involves skill for the most part. There have been a few trials I've noted one of the people who escaped is somehow bottom 2 on a list, underneath someone with more BP but they died.

But skill is so much more than just winning, especially in a game such as this where not only is skill important, but so too is luck (not the game definition!), experience, creativity, perks, etc.. I'd have been happier if he had avoided including skill in the definition and just said it was win/loss only.

It's like 2 football teams playing, where one dominates for 89 minutes, until a referee gives a penalty for the other side when it wasn't actually a foul and the other team score the 1 goal: The lesser team won. Doesn't take away that they won, but it cannot be argued that they won through skill. Moreover, a lot of pure luck that granted a penalty.

  • P.T. won that battle a while back, mainly because of how fresh it was, and how well it worked.

RE7 learnt a lot from that, which in no small part helped it become the great game it became.

  • I just want to be able to play as James Sunderland, go up to a killer, point and say "Have you gone nuts?".

He is the master of tact afterall!

He has some other iconic lines that could also be fun.

  • Any perk that affects healing speeds (or prevents them entirely, such as Forced Penance) would have a more sizeable impact.

As to how impactful it will be, the best thing to do is try it for yourself when the change becomes live. Best way to see what personally works best for you.

I've said this a couple times in previous replies but I think that camping as Bubba should not be as rewarding as it currently is. Also if survivors are falling for Insidious Bubba then you are going against bad survivors.

It does mean "bad" survivors, which is why I gave the example of both scenarios from a new player perspective. But I do feel slugging and face-camping are easier tactics to use. I admit, as killer, I've experimented earlier on with slugging and camping, and it's easier than playing fairly. This is why I cannot agree with the claim that more kills = better skill.

  • It takes nearly no gaming prowess to camp a hook as Bubba, and if he kills 4 inexperienced players in a basement insidious play, whilst a similar level of players take on each other with Trapper as killer and he gets 3k, are we going to be saying the insidious Bubba is a better player? The Trapper made more effort, whilst Bubba basically had the DBD equivalent of a fishing trip.

It's a specific pair of scenarios , but I can't see how in that case a Bubba can be seen as more skillful. And in that case there are other areas where kills vs hooks isn't clear-cut.

  • A few add-ons I've tried to base a little around their lore, and in particular their potential fears or weaknesses before The Entity took them.

    Trapper

    Add-on: Archie's Ointment.

Description: Medicine Evan used to care for his ailing father. Even in illness, Archie had his son trapped. The ointment now coats the traps so prey can experience Evan's pain

Effect: Any survivor who is freed/ frees themself from a trap will go into FPS, and hearing will become muffled (like with the perk Knock Out). These effects stay for 30 seconds. The survivor is also hindered (-0.1m/s) until healed.

    Wraith

    Add-on: Kerosene smear

Description: The Bell eminates a stench that drives Philip to feelings of both hatred and fear, reminding him of the anger towards those who hurt those he loved.

Effect: Whenever you are stunned (pallet or Head On) or lightburned whilst cloaked, you gain a 4% haste effect. So long as you do not cloak, you will keep the haste for 40 seconds starting after recovering from the attack. During this time, you are immune to blinding and recover 50% faster to any further stuns. All survivors suffer from the exposed effect for the first 20 seconds of this 40 second period. This add-on has a 60 second cool-down.

    Hillbilly

    Add-on: Duke and Donny's Blood-mix

Description: The chainsaw is lubed with this unusual concoction; a reminder that, whilst he was chained up a nameless prisoner, ######### pigs got a damned name! However, Max won't be trapped again.

Effect: Whilst overheating, you'll notice that 50% of all walls on the map will be highlighted as breakable, although survivors cannot see these extra breakable walls. Once a wall is broken by chainsaw (they cannot be broken any other way) the add-on has a 20 second cooldown.

It's worth mentioning that the hatch does not count as a win for the survivor, it is a net zero impact on either the survivor who escaped or the killer who was hunting them at that time.

That's a good point, thank you for setting that part straight for me. I'm still not sold on escapes being a true proof of skill, but at least that part takes away some of the issue. Take my upvote.

  • Considering it's possible to escape by doing very little and stumbling across a hatch, I'd strong disagree with that statement. This also is illustrated when looking at endgame scores, and there have been many times where a sacrificed survivor has done far better with BP.

You can strongly argue that a killer kill rate is more based on skill; moreso than from a survivor escape scenario, although even then there are probably some tweaks.

I don't know if they said exactly what the option suggested as I haven't seen it yet, but if they did then I feel that answer isn't fully supported, certainly from the survivor perspective.

  • With one exception, I've only ever stayed at the gates to make sure my fellow survivors make it through, and prepare to take any body blocks if necessary.

That 1 time I didn't was when a Wraith had been very good to us remaining 2 after the other 2 survivors disconnected. The other guy took the exit, and I wanted to let the Wraith know I could have escaped, but wanted to repay in kind, so I invite Wraith to the basement so he could sacrifice me.

As for being a dick at the end; either anguish or insecurity, but the way to see it is that you made them feel that way, and that's a lot of power to have over them if they felt so motivated as to respond that way!

  • Heart-of-Decay-4906sm.jpg

So there is some link between rot and breaking hearts. It's not all bad!

  • There's a slugging setup I feel is extremely different to counter: Nurses Calling, Infectious Fright, Deerstalker, Knock Out. Done with a killer like Nurse or Blight and it's pretty much a win if you're half conpetent

There are some counters to this form of aggressive slugging, but in the grand scheme of things it's not quite enough. If a killer is focused on aggressive slugging tactics, I reckon the kill rate would go up. And whilst this may be seen as "dirty", it could become the killer version of bully squads.

This type of playstyle is what I genuinely fear most at this point.

  • Aside from the main topic, if you played Fallout 3 have you played the dlc "Point Lookout"? That's a great dlc to play.

  • You're not doing anything wrong, and there are multiple reasons why they may not reply:

They may have a block on their profile; they may feel acknowledged already, so feel there's no reply needed, they may be weird and somehow see your message as wanting to be friends (their problem, not yours), they may not understand (either language barrier, or not understanding "ty").

Basically, you're doing nothing wrong. Any interpretation issue is theirs alone.

  • I don't have any perk I always use, but here are some:

Blood Pact: When either you or the obsession are injured, you see each others auras. When fully healing or being healed by the obsession, both gain a 7% haste buff for 6/8/10 seconds. When not injured, you and the obsession will see each others auras whenever either of you interract with generators/totems/survivors/chest for 3/4/5 seconds.

Poised: When a gen is completed, you leave no scratch marks or blood stains for 6/8/10 seconds, and your aura cannot be revealed for the next 20 seconds.

No One Left Behind: Once the final generator is completed, No One Left Behind activates. Any survivor you have fully healed 1 state during the trial will now have their aura permanently revealed to you, and you gain a 30/40/50% to all altruistic actions, with a 50/75/100% BP bonus to all altruistic actions.

  • Whilst I certainly undertand now that it cannot be considered a perfect rhyme (I have been looking stuff up as we discussed this), it's still recognised as a rhyme, or within the parameters of what can be considered a rhyme, so my point still stands that to say "boop" and "snoot" are rhymes, but in as an imperfect rhyme.

But I appreciate the education, and certainly recognise "fox" and "box" as rhymes.😁

  • At least it's not rotted away like the Zed! Small mercies and all that.πŸ‘

  • I feel it's improved in bugs and performance, but at a cost to popularity. The main issue has been MMR.

The MMR was an improvement on the fairly-arbitrary system that was in place before, but that resulted in some players feeling the fun has been taken out of it. "Fun" isn't a helpful word in terms of fairness, since fun may refer to BMing, and does not take into account an even playing field. The new MMR took some steps to amend the playing field, but fell short of what it should be, and suddenly people, including some streamers, appeared upset that their easy matches had been taken away.

Bugs have improved from, and performance has vastly improved from my Xbox One point-of-view. Games were more balanced in my matches. They were tougher, but a lot fairer and really improved my gameplay. Over time it's kinda gone backwards a bit, and I'm not sure how much is to do with the MMR in relation to people trying to beat the system.

There have also been some absolutely crazy decisions. The NFT deal, Boons (as they currently are - I have no issue with the idea of them, but they are imbalanced) and the randomized ways in which perks, add-ons or killers are seen to be amended have made very little sense. They've tried to buff perks into the meta, rather than weakening the effectiveness of the meta, which for me would be an easier way to balance. Besides, buffing a perk doesn't guarantee more usage if it's still not as effective as others. The focal points BHVR have are very strange. A bit like the ideas my friends and I came up with after several drinks and a night out.

Overall, it's hard to really tell, but I have to go with the figures and say the drop indicates the state of the game isn't as great as it was before, despite improvements they have made.

A rhyme isΒ a repetition of similar sounds (usually, exactly the same sound)Β in the final stressed syllables and any following syllables of two or more words. ... More broadly, a rhyme may also variously refer to other types of similar sounds near the ends of two or more words.

Both definitions are for the end of the word. Boop and Snoot and phonetically similar. They really don't rhyme.

Edit: What you're referring to is most likely a slant rhyme. And I really don't think people were going "Boop the Snoot is a slant-rhyme!" I'm pretty sure they just liked the way it sounded phonetically.

So a slant-rhyme is a type of rhyme? Okay, so what I said is still true then in that the words rhyme. It may be an imperfect rhyme, but still deemed a rhyme nonetheless that's recognised in prose and poetry.

  • @Kurri said:

Why are you asking for context? It's a discussion. The game is stressful, and a big part of that is because everyone expects you to be the best at it.

    This also isn't Off Topic.

We were asking because the discussion you set up didn't specify why you were asking, nor what you were refering to. It was very vague. A discussion needs a clear message at the start, and what you wrote was "liking things isn't supposed to be stressful", so that doesn't correlate to people expecting you to be the best. That's why we asked for context.

But you've supplied some context now - that you experience people expecting you to be the best. So, are you saying you're getting comments post-game that are criticising your skills? If so, ignore them and just carry on as you do. Those people are just whinging, and often they too make many mistakes. We all do, so yeah those guys need to get off your back.

  • A rhyme is when 2 words sound similar to each other. Just because one ends in a T and the other a P doesn't cancel the fact that the phonetic sound makes both words rhyme. A rhyme is still a rhyme, even if the last letter differs, so long as both share a close sound. So they both rhyme... otherwise, "I'm" doesn't rhyme with "rhyme", and we know that does.

Question not my understanding of rhyming!
