  • This is known and there is a bug report in on it.

  • yeah I really don't get the issue with this add-on personally. It takes so much stalking to do, and as a survivor you can work out if the killer has this by the amount of stalking they're doing so there's definite outplay to it - plus lockers as @Shirokinukatsukami said.

I've been in matches where the killer had this addon and never even reached T3 because the survivors played smart and avoided the stalk.

I find it to be like Devour Hope, high risk high reward type of thing - which I have no issue with in the game.

  • Right now Matchmaking itself is based around ranks, it's completely irrespective of hours played....that's often why matches feel unbalanced imo because there's such a range of skill at this level as it's not difficult to reach red ranks.

We're shortly reintroducing MMR which will be more of a skill based matchmaking system which should eliminate these frustrations and create more balanced matches for players.

  • @Slashstreetboy we've not announced the date yet, as soon as it's set we will.

  • I'm hoping we'll be able to communicate a bit more about the UI shortly - we did touch on the subject briefly during the stream last week and I think it will be an ongoing thing.

  • I'm a pretty good team player, I always try to save people before they get to 2nd stage on the hook even if it means using up my dead hard or Lithe to get to the hook in time, I also run Borrowed Time and I've been playing around with We'll Make it recently as well. I think it's horrible when you go into the 2nd hook stage when it's effectively your first hooking because no survivor has come to save you - especially if you've ran the killer for a while.

  • I really don't think that the Lullaby needs to be decreased, for one reason it's in her Lore - part of her story, and for another she's not a stealth killer and not designed to be. A ranged killer with no warning like that would really not be a healthy addition to the game imo.

  • I don't think the DC penalty is too harsh in the slightest, the first few penalties are very lenient to take into consideration any game/internet issues you might have.

DC'ing because you don't like how the other side plays is EXACTLY the reason that DC penalties were introduced in the first place because that was happening so often. A survivor got downed quickly, they DC'd, a killer's hex totem was broken early, they DC'd. Those were the types of behaviour that DC penalties are attempting to prevent and as the DC rate has dropped a lot then they're definitely working.

It's unfortunate that sometimes a bug or game issue causes a DC penalty, but those cases are minimal compared to actual rage quits.

  • I really don't think this will help with anything at all.

Also "toxic" is something that means things to different people. We're not about insisting that everyone plays "nicely" because the game does give the ability to play in certain ways - camping, slugging, tbagging etc. And it's up to the individual as to how they judge those things. But they are in game mechanics/abilities and I don't think it's for others to judge how they are used in game, as long as people are playing within the game rules.

  • A lot is dependent on the gen spawn points...I will usually start working on the first gen I come across, if no other survivors are in the vicinity because it's way more beneficial if the survivors are split up and are working on separate gens, plus most killers know where the survivor spawn points are, so you know there's a chance of them heading your way, so yeah I will start working on the gen there to try to get as much completed as I possibly can. As a survivor you can also work out roughly where the other survivors have spawned by your own spawn location - so you can judge if you need to do the nearest generator or not.

It's not strictly true about there always being 1 central gen and then the other gens split up the way you described in your original post. That's why it's so important to pay attention to what gens get completed as a survivor and usually if two gens pop in a particular area, I will leave the gen I'm working on to make sure that we don't actually end up 3 genning ourselves.

Also, depending on the killer's strategy (they might try to 3 gen from the start), then I will definitely make sure to complete one that the killer is actively trying to protect as that forces the killer to patrol more gens.

TLDR, it's not always that simple in solo queue, it's also very rng map dependent. Most important thing is, to split up and have all 4 survivors working on separate gens in different locations of the map, to force the killer into different areas and put more pressure on them.

You don't always need to hide from the killer.

Killer's gonna chase someone eventually and you'll only get better at running the killer for long periods of time if you try to run them instead of escape or hide.

I think this is a really good one. I think many people when they start off playing tend to hide a lot more and are less confident in their ability in a chase - my biggest advice to new survivors even now is to always get involved in the match, make saves don't feel that you have to hide from the killer constantly. You can always tell the ones that hide a lot, because they usually go down instantly when they're eventually chased or drop every pallet instantly.

  • The only one I still get confused on is Midwich. Lerys & The Game I've pretty much got down now, it does feel that it's more random on that map and that there's more empty rooms where gens don't spawn. I do spend more time on Midwich finding gens rather than working on gens it seems and also this map doesn't come up often for me so I really do need to find the time to get into a KYF and spend more time on that map - this is how I tend to learn maps in general though.

Around which ranks do you play?

You can run generic ruin/undying/thana+either bbq, surveillance or tremors.

You can also go for enduring, pgtw, tremors and devour hope. Swap enduring into blood echo and you get a solid comp build.

I like that 2nd build (I'm addicted to Enduring so it's on all the killers I play), and I love some spicy Devour Hope play, I might try that build for sure!

  • Purely because I've never had a main game, I have more hours in DbD than I've ever had in any other game but I've always played a variety of games...I can't play the same game everyday for example, that goes for all games with me, I like the variety.

  • I'm sorta like Viden in this, I'm not pre ordering anything right now. I fully understand the issue that game studios have faced but yeah I don't want to pre order until I know that things are going to run, plus I don't have a huge amount of spare time and have a list of games to play.

But I definitely want to play this at some point. It'll have to go a long way to beat my favourite RE2 though...but I think it's going to be enjoyable either way, which is the most important thing.

(and I haven't even started Cyberpunk yet!)

  • This is pretty much specifically to address those that use the _BHVR nickname or the known name of one of the Developers - such as Mathieu Cote for example. Those names are breaking our rules of service as that is impersonation.

  • I can definitely confirm that MMR is not switched on, I know that there's a lot of complaints about matchmaking right now but it's not connected with MMR in the slightest.

  • We've not announced a date for the mid chapter yet.

  • We are very well aware that Cross Progression is a Community wish and we have communicated as such. It's something we will continue to work on but we have no guarantees it will come to all platforms I'm afraid.

  • Without seeing your playstyle it's quite hard to be able to give many tips. I'm a big fan of Corrupt Intervention for trying to slow things down in the early part of the game, this has definitely helped me when I've been feeling a bit pressurised in matches.

But also, some games you're going to outright lose - that happens to everyone (on both sides). Even in Red Ranks there's a fairly mixed skill of players - not everyone is the same skill level, I think most people will agree with that. And that goes for killers as well as survivors - which is why sometimes you will play against survivors that can waste enough of your time in chases so that the gens get completed.

There's definitely perks that can help you - Pop if you can hook people, Ruin if you're able to pressurise the gens at all for example. Both of those have things you have to complete as a killer first though, which is why I like Corrupt Intervention so much as I can rely on it instantly, it buys me that time at the start of the match and usually allows me to at least get into a proper chase before a generator has been completed.

  • I think a lot of people will agree with the points that you've made there.

I don't have a problem with NOED, I don't use it as killer because I don't have space in my build for it as I prefer perks that will help me out during the earlier part of the match - information and chase perks basically. I'm not a big fan of being down a perk right the way through the match - which is part of the reason that I think NOED is balanced.

I don't personally think NOED needs the speed attached to it, but that's only my opinion and I am not a Game Designer so have less understanding than they do with what the perk needs to be effective.

Cleansing totems is quite random, some games you find them all some matches you might find one - it does seem to be quite map and team dependent...if you have other survivors who are just focused on the generators, then I tend to get off gens and go and hunt totems in anticipation of NOED so even in solo queue you can play against it. Of course, that's a lot harder if you're the one that's being chased a lot which again does happen.

  • Farming is not something we wish to promote.

You will also find a lot of survivors don't want to farm, people queue up to play the game normally and it can be incredibly annoying when the killer just wants to farm, it's an entire waste of a game. So I normally complete the gens and get out of that game as fast as possible so that I can get onto a proper game.

  • It's great to hear people's stories on how they got into the game! I've played since release and I've often wondered how people came into the game after that, whether they'd watched streams/youtube vids etc or if it was purely from their friends playing.

I think it's great that you play a variety of characters, I think that really helps - I try to, I want to learn Nurse but I am really bad with her, even with Shadowborn on I get Dizzy, I enjoy playing Demo but I'm not great with him, he definitely takes a lot more skill than first appears!

  • I'd be interested in hearing if this is happening to others on the Next Gen consoles and if it's specific to the ones you listed. So please tag me in replies if you're having this issue....thank you.

  • https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/197642/acronyms-terms-used-in-dbd#latest For the acronyms, you might find this thread helpful as we're trying to list as many as we can on there - because those of us who've played the game for a while, tend to shorten almost everything we can :)

Survivor Perks that are considered to be Top Tier, definitely Dead Hard, Borrowed Time, Unbreakable, Decisive Strike, Iron Will (this is honestly god tier imo), Sprint Burst to a degree (if you know how to control it). But you don't have to use these perks, there's loads of different perks that you can build around and that work with your own playstyle - for example, I run Head On with Quick & Quiet and have added Deception into that, basically for the memes but it also really does help in matches and I've got away from the killer using Deception rather a lot recently.

Killer Perks, a lot of variety here again depending on your own individual playstyle and what killer you choose. I am addicted to Enduring and Brutal Strength and run them on most of my Killers. On Trapper I also like to run Corrupt Intervention as it gives me that extra setting up time and it's also good on other killers as well, I also get a lot of value from Discordance and Tinkerer plus of course you have Ruin and my particular favourite, Devour Hope.

As you said Nurse is the strongest killer in the game, she's also pretty difficult to play (I'm useless with her) but I prefer playing M1 killers for some reason, I thoroughly enjoy playing Wraith and Legion (I love zooming around as them) and whilst they're not considered to the strongest killers - I do really well with them. So again, maybe not focus on what you think is the strongest but what you enjoy playing, it's not all about ranking up and reaching red ranks, it's about having fun with the game.

Welcome to DbD, I hope you enjoy it!

  • that's really good, I love it 😍

  • I really don't think it's about "easier or harder". I've got a friend who's a complete killer main and he finds that role way easier than he does when he plays survivor, I think it's a lot to do with the personality of the player and what role they enjoy.

There have been worse things. A few examples:

-Infinite loops. Contrary to our contemporary pseudo infinites, there used to be loops where the Killer could never catch up no matter what. Nowadays they can just waste minutes on end, but eventually the Killer can catch up with Bloodlust 3 and entity blockers.

    -OG Moris required no hooks.

-OG BNP insta completed a gen

-OG Selfcare was so fast you could heal mid-chase

-Object+Comms rocking it to this very day

I'd add old Sprint Burst to that list, prior to Exhaustion being introduced.

  • Your question has been answered, in that we have not released a public date - if a thread is closed by a moderator, please do not attempt to reopen it.

  • No release dates have been given publicly as of yet.

  • If you wish to receive a refund then please refer to the platform where you purchased the game from, as it would be under their terms.

  • You would take it up with the moderator in question and then if the situation wasn't resolved, you would contact a Co-Ordinator.

Worst window on Haddonfield is hands-down the open window right near the basement entrance.

It takes absolutely 0 tact or skill to use and everyone knows how broken it is so they just sprint burst to the middle of the map every time you come near.

yepp this window is my least favourite window on any map in the game.

  • We've not confirmed the date of the Mid Chapter Patch...please do not post leaks or suspected leaks on this forum!

  • I am going to close this, it is an exploit and it's not something we want shared on the forums.

  • There'll be more information on this prior to it's release where I'm sure we will go into it in more detail.

  • I believe what Mooks said is correct, it would need to be the same account name etc. Not a different account.

  • @naughtyboyjames we don't allow any discussions with regard to possible leaked content, all if it is unwanted on the forums.

  • Speculation is fine to discuss - Leaks (or even suspected leaks) are not to be discussed on the forum however.

  • There are already bug reports in on this.

  • We already have bug reports in on this.

  • No @Bullettimegod obviously not. Mods are allowed to have their own custom avatars as they are in a position of trust, but us having to moderate everyone's avatar would be next to impossible.

3 years almost and still no custom avatar... Any plan for this?

No, we made the decision to go against Custom Avatar's and keep them as the DbD icons. It makes things easier for us to moderate - so we don't need to moderate avatars as well, it also keeps things looking a bit more uniform.

Honestly, how difficult would it be to switch killer profiles with killer and lock in the profile during game loading instead of locking in the profile on lobby creation?

The whole point of it locking prior to the point you suggested is down to MMR, when the game is searching for a lobby it will match you with people around the same MMR score - otherwise you'd have people using their lower MMR killers to get lower MMR survivors and then switching to their high MMR'd killer, which is unfair. That's why it's done on lobby creation.

  • I really don't see the need to have this discussion on our forums. It's not something that any of us are going to speculate on here please.

Wait... How could you not figure that out? When you were new did you just never play survivor? And even still, were you good enough for something like that to matter but still never figured that it out? I'm calling BS on that.

I'm colour blind - I don't see red on dark backgrounds at all!

  • Sorry but there's currently only progression for Steam & Stadia with Switch joining shortly. We do not know if Cross Progression will come to any other platform I'm afraid, we're aware that it's something that's desired by the Community but it's not something we can guarantee at this stage.
