Yes, but it would take a LOT. It has to be enough that it's actually annoying them basically haha.

I am sure they get hundreds or maybe thousands of false reports every day, to make your name stand out among those would take a lot of false reports or some really heinous ones.

I think as long as the reports are in good faith, i.e. not complete lies or containing faked evidence, you won't be banned.

She is alot easier considering the frame rate and sensitivity on pc.

Do you know if you get aim-assist or so on console? That might even things out a bit, but I think that it exists is just a rumor I see floating around sometimes. At least I haven't seen confirmation or credible evidence for it.

Can you blame people for ditching their teammates against Twins? really?.

Fixed that for you (assuming by 'ditching' mean hook suicide / disconnect).

    And yes. I can.

The survivor queue is long because when you play Killer you either lose and get told you suck, or win and get told you suck. Oh and the gameplay is roughly 4x more stressful, on top of that.

Although the tome might be hurting the queue times a bit to be honest, just because more people are coming on for the challenges. I've been playing a bit of DBD recently and I'm literally only coming on because I want to unlock the Oni skin, and if I just want to grind out XP to get rift shards, I might as well play survivor which takes less mental strain.

Hey that's not true, sometimes you also get told to ######### either in-game or on your Steam profile page if you haven't set it to private yet!

i'm just going to say if you refuse to play against a certain killer you are bad at the game.

i've been in red ranks for most of my 1k hours in dbd and i go against killers i dislike almost daily. i still try to win.

i see sweaty nurses/spirits, i try to adapt.

why ruin a match for everyone because you don't like who the killer is?

i'm just going to say if you refuse to play against a certain killer you are bad at the game.

My theory is that players who suicided / disconnected against Nurse before the automated disconnect bans caused the Nurse players to get better, and that's why she is considered so good. The players who did not suicide / disconnect against Nurse learned to play against Nurse, so the Nurse players only played against Survivors who knew what to do, which then let the Nurse player become better by "training".

Essentially disconnecting against certain killers causes them to miss out on experience, and in turn makes the killer player even better at their character.

Totems should not be lit and dull, they should all just be dull. Why do survivors need the alert that a totem is lit?

When RUIN is active, you have an affect icon showing onscreen in your HUD. So then you have to do bones to find it, or live with it.

This also buffs surprise Hexes like haunted ground.

It's probably by design to make hex totems easier to be found. I am also not sure if Haunted Ground would actually become stronger as most Survivors seem to ignore normal totems mostly.

Your response implies that all cosmetics will eventually be released. This was not communicated.

If you're insulting someone in a particular way, regardless of whether or not that person can see the words - then it can result in a ban. If someone wants to use racially offensive terms or homophobic language, death threats etc? Why shouldn't they receive some sort of ban, be it temporary or permanent?

Thanks, I think I understand now - if from context it's clear that it's hate speech / an insult it still makes sense to report.

    @HellDescent said:

So instead of giving people an option to simply disable chat, like many have asked...they are coming up with filters. Also this will work on pc only. They sure seem to have a lot of free time on their hands. Too bad they don't put any of it to good use

This exists, you can close the chat box and it will stay closed unless you open it again (on PC at least).

  • @Mandy said:

That chat filter will essentially block out the bad words - you can still report things that you believe are threats etc with the in-game report feature (no need for tickets for this), as the team will still see the unfiltered chat logs.

I assume that writing ****head with asterisks (four * and then 'head') is not a violation of the rules.

Writing a word that gets censored and replaced with ****head in the chat produces the exact same message though, and would be a rule violation as I understand it. Why would the second case still be punishable if other players see the same non-rulebreaking message in both cases in the end? (Replace the example insult with any insult(s) that would result in a ban)

I can understand that not all hateful messages will be caught by the filter, and reporting those still makes sense to me. I just don't see a reason why reporting a censored message would ever result in a ban once chat filters are live.

    Can you clarify this please?

  • @Lycidas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/228596/coming-soon-emojis

If getting a chat filter means I don't have to report anymore racist, sexist and homophobic comments from the post game chat because they are going to be automatically detected it's a more than welcomed feature, idk what you are complaining about 🤷🏻‍♂️

The chat filters are almost certainly rule-based and will not be used for automated bans as they will have a huge amount of false positives. Automated chat-based suspensions could be done without any chat filters.

  • Don't worry, now that the chat filters are out of the way the developers can focus on the real issues:

    EMOJIS.

It is the next logical step. Emojis for sale in the store. Exclusive emojis that streamers can give out. Exclusive emojis as event rewards. Emojis in the battlepass.

  • @panernaners said:

You should keep chat off always, and chat filters are not going to change that.

Might have something to do with the fact that on Console those are the only killers that come with the game. Every other killer is DLC.

Honestly that sounds like what they did.

Mostly ruin my game since yeah they never did anything, I found a player in the basement hiding where the chest is on the back.

The other one was just walking around, when I hooked the david we both found the hatch and that is where I closed it in her face because it wasn't a fun experience.

But I was asking if it was still 40 min because I remember I think it was Queen who said that 40 min is taking the game hostage but I can't remember if that was what she said a few years back.

It's definitely what they did (walking around for 40 minutes), or they would have gotten the AFK crows. They had to take action to ruin your game. If they didn't want to play anymore then they could have just run up to you to die, or just tabbed out / minimized the game until they got the AFK crows so you can find and kill them to end the game. But they didn't do that, their goal was to ruin your game.

I can't say for sure that this is the case but I doubt that there is a 40 minute limit after which something becomes holding the game hostage. Perhaps you misremember, and you are thinking of a case where someone said "Not doing anything for 40 minutes is holding the game hostage.". If it goes on for 40 minutes then it is absolutely holding the game hostage. Doing it for less time might be holding the game hostage too, but it depends on context.

Is there a plan to change these at all? We can all see very clearly that these are the default Hillbilly pants being passed off as a rift reward.

How did this even make it to the live game?

I saw someone say they are different from behind. Can anyone confirm this?

If they look the same from behind then my suggestion is to remove some fabric to expose Hillbilly's butt. Then they are definitely different and worthy of being a reward.

  • The special generators and hooks give bonus points. I don't know how much worse that is when compared to something like a 1.5x bloodpoint multiplier (in terms of bloodpoints gained), but it's something.

One thing I would like to see return for these "mini-events" are community challenges, like we had them for the first anniversary. Put them in as Rift challenges, but every player can contribute to them globally. Reward on completion would be the skins that are available through codes for this event. The concept of community challenges was cool and it's a shame that it was never done again. The "infrastructure" of the existing challenges should make it feasible to do them again.

I reported them in game, I honestly don't want them banned or anything, but this is why I hate indoor maps, lots of places to hide and if I dc I get punished.

I honestly don't want them banned or anything

They intentionally and actively ruined your game. It would be one thing if they just went AFK for 40 minutes, but then the AFK crows would show where they are - they had to be active in the game by moving, not playing the game, for 40 minutes, with the sole intention of ruining your game. They spent 40 minutes of their own time on the sole purpose of ruining someone else's fun. They should be banned.

  • @Phasmamain said:

They said they would focus on anniversary and Halloween events in future so think of these like mini events

    This.

They are not earnable but there are / will be cosmetics that you can unlock with a code. It would be more fun if those were tied to a specific challenge but these kind of challenges are more likely to be used for the anniversary and the Halloween event.

I was playing a match of billy on hawkins, everything was fine until half way the match.

They did 1 gen and I got 10 hooks by that time, there were only 2 survivors left and they refused to do gens since like min 8 of the match and only hid.

So I only have these perks on Billy (What I use) enduring, bbq, shadowborn and bamboozle.

    No tracking perks besides bbq.

Those 2 survivors refused to do anything, they just hid.

Match lasted 39:47 according to what I recorded.

I don't think there is an official hard limit at which the situation becomes holding the game hostage, but what you described is definitely that and you should make a support ticket with the video included if you reported them in-game.

    See: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules#how-to-report-a-player

An In-game report MUST be made. This is not optional, and is a must to help us identify the person in your game as well as find any other evidence we need.

  • sunk cost fallacy

    Source: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/sunk-cost-fallacy

    A prime example.

  • It's almost if the battlepass is a lazy cashgrab.

At least the item description isn't the same as the default pants. I guess you can look at it while in the lobby.

  • My guess is that an upcoming chapter has a perk with an effect like "When condition X is fulfilled, gain 1 hook state. "

You can then see that this perk activated by looking at the hook counter, which would decrease.

  • A lot of skins are from the mobile version, another example is the "Navy" / "Captain" outfit for Doctor (blue coat, his arms are kinda green-ish if I remember correctly).

  • @BaldursGate2 said:

Agree and it seems i can not see the hook count with killer? What the hell is the reason about that? It's an info for the killer, to maybe not hook someone the third time right away omg.

I think the explanation given as to why the killer can't see this was that it would encourage tunneling. If by "hook count" you mean how often each Survivor was hooked (the icon next to their portrait, you can see it when you play Survivor) and not the total hook counter (the circle thing).

'we don't like any of the new features it supposedly provides'

    Dear Devs:

We don't mind the new features. It's the all-over-the-placeness and the clashing designs.

Give us the old HUD layout, give us adept portraits, make the hook time larger, make the items/abilities smaller and we're fine.

make the items/abilities smaller and we're fine.

You can make everything smaller in the settings, there is a scale slider for that (Steam version, no idea if that's also a thing on console).

The best option really would be add an option to customize the placement of the elements somewhere, then everyone can build their own HUD. Maybe add an option to remove certain elements if someone doesn't want or need them.

    1. I play on both PC and PS4, and on both I dislike the new UI. So your argument that it's my idea that PC players are superior above console is absolute dogsh*t. I never said that anywhere on this forum, so don't make stuff up.
    2. I never changed my icons, even if I could in the past. I don't give a sh*t about costum icons. So there you're wrong again.
    3. A TV screen is much bigger than a PC screen (90% of the time it is, some people have huge screens for their PC games). Before it was all clustered together for information. Now it's all over the place. And the wiggle bar when you're on struggle on hook is way too small. At first I didn't even could find it, while before it was also underneath the players icon and way bigger.
    4. I give one positive thing about the new UI and that is the players portrait by their name, so you can see which survivor is which. But that's all I can say positive about it.

A TV screen is much bigger than a PC screen (90% of the time it is, some people have huge screens for their PC games). Before it was all clustered together for information. Now it's all over the place

It seems like a lot of people who dislike it have big screens / TVs. Have you tried changing the scale in the Settings menu to see if you can find a value that improves it for you?

  • @Ryuzaki said:

I've resorted to scaling the new UI right down as it's causing me eyestrain and is distracting. I would rather play the game without a HUD right now.

I have also set it to the lowest "size" (70% I think?) and that helps a lot. I recommend that anyone having issues tries this out, it's in the Settings menu (Steam version at least, I don't know if you can change it on console).

  • @hextrihard said:

So because it looks like bhvr aren't willing (or able?) to revert to the old HUD what are some changes people think would improve it?

    Personally I think:

    1. Move the survivor icons back to the bottom (some of the most important info in the game, so it needs to be in a convenient spot, plus having it running down the side of the screen makes it hard to scan through names (up/down vs left/right)
    2. Move other icons to make things less spread out (i.e. items, killer power, gens etc.), its horrible having to look at literally every corner and side of the screen for the info you need
    3. Change the hook timer and exhaustion meter color/make it more visible, its so hard to make out now and people are getting sacrificed because of it (also I'm not sure how the red on orange would be for colorblind people?)
    4. Might just be me, but change survivor icons to adept character art or even back to the blank faces from before, so all the icons have a matching style. Honestly, I think the 3d icons look pretty unprofessional and are part of what makes the new hud look like something from a mobile game. At the very least, change the sizing so it isn't so small compared to all the other icons.

Basically I want something like this lol, I do like the hook counter and seeing the character survivors are playing:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Z3X47NM5LJQB/image.png

Another option: Make it customizable. Keep the current layout as the default for those who like it and let everyone else move stuff to where they want it.

I hinted in a reply that if people didnt spend money the devs would listen to us... which goes for any business lol people are invested in this game.

If its so bad that its against forum rules to promote suggesting how people should spend their money.... then theres a deeper issue that should be solved. Like fixing their game and actually using the money they do get to make actual progress in DBD not just super tiny small incremental changes every month and a half.

Sorry I wasn't clear, no one in this thread has encouraged others to not spend money so far, but as soon as one person does that this thread will 100% be locked or outright deleted. I think this thread is good and important to have, I want it to stay open.

Stealth killers on the other hand should get the recurring reveal (the one that goes off every 30 seconds), while not being visible to the Survivor (if the killer is in stealth). It's better against Trapper/Hag than against most killers, but worse against stealth killers such as Wraith.

This thread was in the "Forum Feedback" subforum for 18 days, until I flagged it to be moved to the correct subforum. No one bothered to read this subforum for 18 days - the thread was near the top, it clearly did not belong there based on the title alone (not even necessary to open and read the thread to see it should be moved).

There is a high chance that only threads / posts in the "Recent Discussions" list are read (you can find it here: you can find it here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussions) ) and everything else may as well not exist.

A lengthy, more detailed discussion about this problem can be found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/215049/do-you-believe-in-forum-deadzones (which ironically was also ignored).

There used to be (maybe it still exists?) a reaction called "BHVR Read" that is only usable by developers and which could (can) be used to show that a thread has been read (essentially a "Vote Up" button, but only clickable by developers). It is unknown why that isn't being used anymore, see also https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/175128/why-is-the-bhvr-read-reaction-not-used-anymore (again completely ignored).

While the Stranger Things PTB was live people were saying that Fixated is weak and should work while injured. A developer commented saying that if it turns out that Fixated is too weak it will be buffed. The chapter released on 17 September 2019 according to Google. It took over a year to get it buffed.

I feel like mori nerf was too rushed.

Literally the only reason the mori nerf was pushed into a hotfix was because people were already outraged about the unfinished DLC release. If they hadn't pushed it out then there would have been another period of outrage at a later time.

  • You should probably not use Reshade until you contact them and confirm it's whitelisted (maybe try Twitter). Policy is that if EAC bans you only they can unban you.

  • @Pirscher said:

Agreed, but maybe it was removed from the HUD and incorporated into the game somehow, like with a custom chase music (so you know you are chasing the Obsession) or a slightly different running animation for the Obsession Survivor.

Adding HUD elements into the game itself is neat (for example Dead Space where your health bar is shown on your "spine") and maybe that was done here.

The whitelist used to be on the EAC website, but it was removed: https://www.easy.ac/en-us/support/dbd/guides/whitelist/ (dead link at the time of writing)

I couldn't find any public whitelist. The safest option seems to be to consider nothing whitelisted that gives any sort of advantage.

  • @Gay Myers (Luzi) said:

Basically, it falls under a use at your own risk kind of situations. If EAC bans you, there is nothing we can do for you.

The game rules (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules) say that the following is a violation:

Using 3rd party software or other tools to gain any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game, except if they have been whitelisted by us.

A crosshair overlay gives an advantage (for example on Huntress, Deathslinger). Having a crosshair is not intended by the game. It is an unfair advantage because you can not get it in-game without using 3rd party software or other tools. The software is not whitelisted. Therefore using it is a violation of the rules.

Did I go wrong somewhere? Using that kind of software seems like "textbook" definition of using a cheating tool to me.

Well I’m a little new. Been playing for a few weeks now

Try the perk Monitor & Abuse on him (teachable from Doctor). It reduces your terror radius by 8m. Evil Within II gives you a 16m terror radius, with Monitor & Abuse you go down to 8m which is very little. Upside is that you get the regular attack range and movement speed.

All i'm getting are automated responses so it's feasible.

What's likely happening is that by replying to your ticket you are sending it back to the top of the pile of tickets. Reply only with the information you have and then wait, don't update the ticket by asking them to respond faster.

Eww, linking the literal most biased player, who is genuinely awful at the game is hilarious.

and in the video nowhere does Almo say "we specifically balance players around the 1% of people who play them", if that were the case, nurse would be nerfed into absolute oblivion, same for spirit, Oni & blight. But that just isn't the case.

Please address the argument and not the source of the clip. Especially not in such a disrespectful way.

@Slashstreetboy has already addressed the quote from Almo, so I am skipping over that part.

Please show a source that shows that Nurse, Spirit, Oni and Blight overperform or are being used by the top 1% players. In this post @Almo has stated that Nurse is in the top 25%:

Nurse is on the bottom for all ranks averaged. Nurse is on the bottom for ranks 1-4. Nurse is in the top 25% for killrate across Killers when considering players who are in the top 1% for killrate with their respective Killers.

There is no information that I know of regarding the ranking of Spirit, Oni or Blight. Freddy is the #1:

Among the very best players (top 1% with their respective Killers), Freddy is #1. Nurse is in the top 1/4.

And Freddy was confirmed to be getting changes in the near future. I can't find the source for that currently though. It is unknown where Nurse ranked previously but the rework / remaster of her power is widely regarded as an overall nerf.

SWF has way more advantages than solo like proper coordination, comms, extreme perk synergy, etc. It's really unfair honestly. Imagine going into every game and the killer knows pretty much everything you'll do before you do it... That's SWF in a sense.

You got downed? Tell other survivors work on gens. Killer headed to survivors? Tell them urban evade away. Getting chased? Tell others to hammer gens hard.

And don't forget: Use Object Of Obsession and tell your team where the killer is at all times.

That's what I'd like to know myself honestly. Killers are nerfed because the BEST OF THE BEST Killers supposedly "overperform", but my question is...

Are they overperforming against the best? Potatoes? Like who are they supposedly destroying when we just saw a game end in 2:30!

It would be interesting if the escape rate of the top 1% survivors versus each killer lines up with the kill rate of the top 1% killers.

E.g. is the escape rate the lowest for the best performing killer when looking at the top 1%?

I just had a game as killer where object of obsession auras was visible even when they were within terror radius and in a chase, even when they were as close as 1 meter. According to its description, auras shouldn't be visible in terror radius!

The Oblivious status effect makes it so you are not considered as inside the terror radius, so Object Of Obsession is always active. Most likely that's what happened here.
