  • I also had a wierd experience recently: I was playing Ghostface with STBFL, on Autohaven, and they kept rushing the hook full-health because they assumed (according to the post game) that I was just going to pop my power and somehow, using my secret killer magic and a thirty second cooldown, stay hidden and stalk whomever came for the rescue in the middle of an open field. Needless to say, in that situation, STBFL got them all killed and three of them (a SWF) blamed me for facecamping while person number four was just as confused as me.

Assuming someone's going to camp gets you killed. Seriously, either run kindred or go for a safe approach.

  • It's always been a thing, but it's way more noticeable (and by that I mean actually useful) on only a very small handful of maps, and it's worthless in a chase thanks to the chase music (which doesn't seem to drown out other killers footsteps).

  • Column B: Poorly optimised.

Seriously, according to NVIDIA the game doesn't even run at 1080p and it's still that laggy. Given that I recently upgraded my RAM and CPU (very cheaply), but not GPU, and I could suddenly run it in Ultra? It's probably the code itself that's causing stutter, not the visual effects.

  • Honestly, if the PTB Badham grass becomes normal for most maps, Bloodhound might become forced meta, which is awful given that killers need perks more than you'd expect.

    *hides Survivor perk build...*

But on a serious note, I despite those perks even as Survivor. They're very situational and a waste of a perk slot, if you never even get to use them, like myself.

Or you just play aggressively and freely use at least one of them to completely undo the killers pressure. Every time I see someone say that they're situational, I know they're a nice person.

I'm only level 16 but I was running hex retribution enduring brutal strength and spies from the shadows

Regardless of your opinion on Spies, it had negative synergy with him thanks to his scaring off not-so-nearby crows with every shot. Just a heads up if you're trying to use its info to chain chases.

Slippery Meat + Up The Ante actually isn’t that bad a combo.

If ive been in a string of games of unreliable teammates despite running Kindred, I’ll slap on Slippery Meat + Up The Ante and most of the time I can unhook myself. It let’s those survivors stay on gens if I can unhook myself.

Up The Ante only increases your chances by an additional 3%. Chances are, you could've not run the perk and got the same result.

  • OoO, No Mither, Unbreakable, Soul Guard. Kinda meme, kinda not.

Slippery Meat, Up The Ante, Ace In The Hole, Plunderers Instinct. That bonus luck also effects of you get a second adodn! Wow, how impactful!

Mettle of Man, Babysitter, No Mither, WGLF. I dare you.

  • Yeah, the new Badham looks like an absolute nightmare. It's already a map with 3-4 god pallets depending on the variant, and with very strong and chainable tiles, and now they want to make it so that losing LoS means you lose the chase completely? Yeah, no. That's a dumb as shite idea.

  • Bloodstains are both way more reliable and super unreliable, since the smallest piece of foliage or dark grounds hides it pretty well.

  • If it says "for the equivalent of" then it probably works by counting the number of seconds you spent healing.

I was referring to huntresses 20 TR with 25 extra lullaby, And the 24 TR since its different. I wish they had kept the lunge change, that would have been cool. I think the devs changing something or introducing a new mechanic for the sake of staying true to something isn't entirely out of the question, since they've done it before.

And yet it is the lesser side of the argument, since they have far more often removed uniqueness than created it.

I can use an iri head to have instant downs the entire match, is my point.

You do realise that that is the most problematic add-on in the entire game and is 100% getting reworked, right?

  • Imagine an already-strong killer having an entire minute of ranged instadowns. The only thing more unfair would be if Feral Frenzy could do the same - at least survivors can make it hard to hit a hatchet.

Quite old, however the devs kept the changes in, unlike pig, so they are clearly fine with them. They also keep giving characters unique TRs, why is a unique lung out of the question?

What unique Terror Radius? The game has 2 variants: 32m and 24m.

And, I don't know if you know this, but not all killers had the same lunge. 110 killers had a somewhat shorter one, but this was changed to normalise everyone.

  • As a Kate main I can tell you right now that her complexion is not the reason her blendy outfits don't blend so well. Them pale hands and face are actually still quite difficult to spot in most situations.

Her butt that ruins it for her. I'm not kidding, it's her butt. Every dark pair of pants either has white pockets or a shiny pair of buttocks, and she cannot cover them.

Other than that, I see your point.

Myers is the only killer to be 105% at base and the only killer with varying lunge levels. Nurse and Wraith are the only killers to get lightburn. While these are all old examples the devs have yet to change them for years. While the devs have definitely screwed up in the past just to normalize killers they have also given other killers unique attributes specific to them.

And how old are those killers? They wouldnt even remotely be like that if released today. Not to mention the fact that both of those mechanics are directly related to powers.

  • There's a few good builds I can think of. EnduringNemesis/PWYF/PGTW is a great combo on them, because screw being in a chase with a 120ms killer with instadowns. Forever Legion is probably them at their strongest: Dying Light, Thana, PGTW, Corrupt Intervention. That, coupled with juggling to keep people in Deep Wounds, can give you enough time to let your skill shine through as much as the survivors does.

  • I exclusively play solo que, and I can say with absolute certainty that if I didn't also play killer at high ranks then I'd think this game was killer sided as well. Bad teammates (which you are supposed to have) make the individual trial killer sided. In solo que, almost everyone is a boosted moron that has no real idea what they are doing, refuses to touch a gen to save their life, refuses to heal and goes down in 3 seconds, and generally makes the game miserable.

  • Let me put it this way: Pigs terror radius used to be unique at 28m. She was the only killer in her class. Then they made her a standard 32m killer, not because she was OP, but because she was different. Which, by the way, was a huge nerf and forced M&A to be a staple perk on a goddamned stealth killer.

  • @SCP_FOR_DBD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1600871#Comment_1600871

Then they could make it more unique by giving it a longer startup but more range, kinda like Oni but at base.

DBD isn't that kind of game

  • But good matchmaking is never, ever going to happen. Skill in DBD is far too difficult to measure mathematically, and to be perfectly honest most SWF teams are absolute trash and go down 20 seconds into an m1 chase, however they still have the huge advantage of their teammates doing the generators. Or, and I genuinely fear this as someone who doesn't believe in playing Nurse every match, they just instadrop pallets because that's just a thing that they can do in most maps because most tiles are still very easily chainable. That's not something you can have in solo que, because the other survivors have to choose between info perks and... This makes me feel dirty, but I'm going to say it anyway: crutch meta perks that help me, as their teammate, win trials by proxy.

  • @Smurmph said:

I still think you should get a stack for fully healing a teammate. I'd be happy with that.

That's still the equivalent of an empty perk slot, though. That's why WGLF is kind of in a love/hate area with a lot of the community: Its effect is extremely useful... Once the trial is over.

  • Just a general rule: If the survivors can coordinate, you are the survivors plaything. They can trump literally anything that you can do and you just play every match hoping that they don't. This goes for every killer regardless of add-ons, offerings or perks, because gens trump everything (which they kind of should).

Trapper, however, might be the contender for weakest killer in the game, especially without add-ons. He has the absolute worst early game in the game, when he's fully set up the exit gates are open, his power is unreliable at best, and he has to constantly outhink survivors that can undo his work in seconds with zero thought (even accidentally - they can just step on a trap by accident, free themselves, and run away before you get there). So, basically, just try to have fun and see what you can get away with.

  • The animation wouldn't make any sort of sense, given the necessity to be rather quick.

  • I believe you have answered your own question.

Toxicity like that isn't gonna come every day. So I'm calling you a liar. Also voice chat would bring solo to the level of swf, making it easier to buff killers as a whole or buff survivors as a whole. Just because of a few bad apples shouldn't ruin the entire bunch

Go play Siege. Nearly every day, unraked or casual, getting shot in the back, sandbagged, spawn killed by a teammate or just plain-old getting followed around and verbally abused by someone that has no intention firing their gun about one in five matches. It is, in fact, the sole reason I stopped playing the game for nearly a year and have only just picked it back up.

Call me a liar all you want, you are entitled to your thoughts. I, however, prefer to draw from my own experiencs of there being far more than just a few bad apples, and the experiences of my friends who also play both Siege and other competitive titles that I do not touch.

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1600554#Comment_1600554

I mean you could just mute the player who is being toxic. Also yeah they could easily buff the killer roster as a whole if they wanted to implement this

Yes, let's just mute the toxic player only to get sandbagged by them because that's exactly what happens to me all the time in other co-op PvP games even if I have said nothing at all. And I do mean "all the time."

Comms doesn't just add another level of communication. It brings in low-effort and easily accessible toxicity, especially since the disgustingly rude, or downright racist/sexist/classist/homophobic/or otherwise bigoted, don't like to be ignored.

  • Yes, because what one of the few non-competative PVP games out there needs is to be flooded with even more deathsquads and tryhards, "practicing against" (bullying) the game's core audience. Just what I always wanted, to never play anyone but Nurse and never use anything but DS/UB/SG/Kindred. And that has nothing to do with "winning," that's just what you'd need to draw the game out slightly longer.

Tournaments in DBD are, despite the attempts of the hosts, a pretty casual affair for very, very good reason. Not everything needs to be competitive. And before anyone tries to tell me that I shouldn't be playing PVP games, I play Siege, several CCG's and I'm even getting into Valorant, at least til the ball drops on why it's evil. I am no stranger to competitive games or urges, I just don't think it's fair to apply them to DBD because it was, at one point, a very safe space for people to just have fun in. The competitive scene shouldn't be here.

  • I think that's a pretty great idea, and I think they could expand the Ghost Face lisence to include an original survivor and map. We all know which survivor and which map, too.

  • Crossplay has been great. Survivor que times have gone down the drain again thanks to everyone playing crossfriends, but now it feels like the game has a decent population.

Edit: It has been frustrating the number of people suffering from confirmation bias...

  • Good frame rates. Yeah, I know, not an option for most people for obvious reasons. Other than that, there's not much else. Cleanse the totem? Yeah, no kidding. Not exactly something you need anyone to tell you. Git Gud? Sure, practice helps a lot, but til you can hit skillchecks you basically cannot see then you're just going to have to tough it out.

  • Lean. Lean, lean, lean. His power requires the survivors to have more than 30% of you (give or take) in their LoS, but if you lean properly you only expose your face. However, the camera is above their model, so they can reveal you even though you literally cannot by any stretch of the imagination see them. Also, don't try to stalk everyone. You need to spread the damage, so it's good practice to have some people 99'd and others injured.

  • Yeah, them and Myers are solid starter killers. Legion is also not as bad as a lot of people think (they're not that strong, but they can chew through pallets and snowball harder than most killers, which is also an important fundamental).

  • If someone is about to go down, get in a locker. If someone is about to get hooked, get in a locker. Hide, don't loop. Try to break LoS and be unpredictable, maybe even double back and force her to overcharge her blink (although that only works against bad Nurses). And stack 2 to a gen to avoid Ruin or Pop.

Edit: also, if you're've got nothing else, just run forward. It takes her ages to catch up, almost as long as a normal m1 killer

  • Probably something to do with her being a spirit and spirits often being depicted as blue.

  • That's a solid build. Not much to critique, whatever works for you works for you. It seems like it might be counterproductive to run Inner Strength and DH, since a lot of killers have instadowns and you might end up choosing to activate one or the other a lot of the time, but it's just personal preference.

If you want to hate your teammates more than you ever thought possible, run a few games with Bond/Kindred/Open Handed. You can see pretty much everything they do, and much of what the killer does, since Open Handed effectively doubles the reading area of those two perks. A few games with this combo will give you a good game sense even when you're not running it.

Also, never overlook the perk Alert for solo que. It can be almost as good as Kindred.

  • You mean completely remove the killers ability to hit because there doesn't seem to be any physical hitbox for basic attacks because it uses a basic slash hit-registration technique to ape a physical weapon?

  • Let me guess: constantly screaming around the map, never taking a break between chainsaws?

That's the only time I ever overheat. Other than that, completely fine.

  • @onemind said:

Do you want everyone to run in circles. And get upset when a killer that can do something about that. you dont have to do this to every killer some killers you can run in circles "also interactive when you can see them"

Im just pointing out weaknesses. Do what you want.

That's the thing: you pointed out the same fallback "counterplay" that every killer, including Legion and Doctor, have. Yes, I would rather people run around looping than crouch in a bush pretending that it's fun and interactive gameplay. You may like Yamaoka and Dead Dawg gameplay, but I personally want to outplay or get outplayed, not outcrouch or get outcrouched.

  • Are we just going to ignore all of the console players victimising themselves, blaming every bad match on hackers, bad optimisation (not everyone has a good PC) or "keyboard advantage" (it took me like 3 games to get the hang of a controller, the only disadvantage I have is as precision killers) and constantly going on about how PC players bully and belittle them even though there's more posts about bully PC players than actual PC bullies?

  • @Maperson said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1599952#Comment_1599952

Forever Freddy doesn't exist anymore.. Bamboozleface?

Pop, Surveillance, Thana, Sloppy, and double slowdown addons. It still exists, it's just now slightly less impactful.

And Bamboozleface - bamboozle Leatherface. The only counterplay is feeding him pallets, which he instantly breaks, because you cannot play windows and you've just got to hope your teammates are a crack squad of repairers because in two minutes the entire map will be a deadzone.

  • For the easy killer: Freddy

For the potentially insanely strong killer: PH

    For the high-skill killer: Ghostface

For the kinda meh killer: Demogorgon

However, if you're talking about getting the full DLC, survivors included, then:

    Nothing to see here: Ghostface

    Pretty bad: Freddy

    Good perks: PH

6 whole perks, half of them very good: Demogorgon.

  • So you want everyone to be completely non-interactive in a game that low-key nerfs loops and overbuffs stealth with every new map?

And that's even ignoring that it's not "adaptation," it's just forced stealth. Adaptation is changing the way you loop, not being forced to hide because you have no other options.

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1599925#Comment_1599925

You are right in that regard but still there isn't evidence. Sadly if you are telling the truth they got away with it

Actually, if things were logged correctly, that's all the evidence you need, and there's no reason to assume they aren't. Oh, EventTriggerEGC happened 2 minutes into the trial? Yeah, no, that's some hacks. You don't know who specifically did it because for some reason the injected code is completely untraceable? Video evidence isn't going to help, it literally could have been anyone in the trial.

It seems to be a way of making sure that the team doesn't have to hire several dedicated teams to go trawling through every log every single time someone is even accused of cheating.

  • That really doesn't surprise me. The Devs team are probably sick to death of seeing it and don't seem to realise that "we're working on it" got stale years ago and now people genuinely want to see some actual progress.

Spirit: hits after phase -> no fatigue (m1)

Wraith: hits after uncloak -> no fatigue (m1)

Deathslinger: hits speared surv -> no fatigue (m1) - surv breaks chain -> fatigue (not m1)

Legion: hits in frenzy -> fatigue after ending frenzy (not m1)

Oni: hits in blood fury -> fatigue after ending blood fury (not m1)

Blight: hits in rush -> fatigue (not m1)

Nurse: hits after blink -> fatigue (M1)?????????

I don't know why you're so hung up on fatigue given that all of those "basic attacks" happen whilst still under the influence of their power, yet Legion was specifically changed to be completely seperate.

  • That's a can of worms that doesn't need opened. A bunch of kids in a game with Freddy, the man who wasn't just killing them even in the original script? Yeah, there's bad taste, and then there's that.
