Pretty much, that's why a few people are upset by what the reward turned out to be

I think it's okay. I like the updated portraits (Hated the yellow glitter.) but I do wish there was something else that other people could actually see. Or at least some kind of detail on the Prestige icon that showed I had gotten to P3 before the update. (Besides just the extra Prestige levels.)

So basically what BHVR said in the anniversary stream, cool.

I finally did it. I got every survivor to Prestige 3. Was it worth it? No. Do I feel a sense of pride? No. Am I glad it's finally over? I guess. But I did it. Now begins the journey to get Claudette to Prestige 100. THE GRIND NEVER STOPS.
Better question: do you think the portraits are good enough after what bhvr said about having a character to P3 before the update?

Not a mod but I can answer this one...first of all, we do not just take feedback from the forums, we also have a lot of other platforms where we take feedback. This feedback is also discussed intently - I took part in the long meetings presenting this feedback, as that's my job.
When we go through the feedback from the PTB we're also very aware that there's a small number of people playing the actual PTB and please bare in mind that there's also no matchmaking on the PTB so all skill levels are together, which can sometimes skew peoples perceptions of things. So whilst we do clearly listen to feedback - the changes that we made from the PTB emphasises that point nicely....not all feedback can or will be implemented, as our Designers have to make the decision about what is best for the game overall.
Prestige icon feedback - we were very clear initially that this was not going to be something cosmetic, most people correctly figured out it would be something to do with the portraits based from that. The proposed portrait wasn't generally received positively so changes were made to it. We were always clear that this wasn't going to be a Legacy 2.0 outfit, nor was that ever the intention.
DS stun timer - the arguments have not been ignored, we've had some pretty lengthy discussions about them internally. This update was always going to be controversial due to the perks that we were changing, so we expected all of this. The fact that DS is used and the reasons why it was used were discussed. And we made the decision to go Live with the stun timer as it is, with the view that these things we can change in future if we find it's necessary.
We want to shake up the perks that people play with, keeping them the same strength would not accomplish that.
It's completely disingenuous to say we don't listen to feedback, when we clearly do - when we clearly have made changes based on that feedback. Of course we cannot possibly please everyone with the changes we make, as pretty much everyone has a differing of opinion. But I think we've shown time and time again that we do listen to feedback and it's not just from one place either.
I mean, the fact that even some Fog Whisperers were weirded out by the fact that the reward was not visible by other tells you pretty much everything you need to know about how well communicated and clear the P3 reward was.
Think about it. Seriously.

You must have missed this piece of my post...
"While there is nothing wrong with a sense of achievement, even with something that's meaningless, it can breed a tedious form of elitism and entitlement that is really on the nose. Especially when its over something as trivial as a computer game."
Which basically already says what the posts you highlight say but without any of the self aggrandizing that I'm referring to.
I'm proud of a lot of realistically meaningless things that I've been involved in, but there is a difference to feeling a sense of achievement and letting that sense of achievement turn you into a whiney expectant child with an emotional napoleon complex.
"BHVR said there was going to be a special reward being VERY secretive about it, and everyone understandably though it was going to be a skin or something to show off."
They were pretty clear that it wasn't going to be anything grand and stated that it wasn't a wearable cosmetic or costume. The release even said some players may be underwhelmed by it in an attempt to curb expectations.
Lots of people live in a lil alternative reality vacuum and only heard what they wanted to. So they jumped to conclusions about it because they felt they deserved something for "achieving" what is basically time spent online playing a game.
Lets take a step back and ask what have people really done... well they spent a lot of time playing a game, wow give em a fricken medal for it. Now people are upset that they didn't get their self vaunted medal. Lets review some of these...
Statements like "bait and switch" implying they were cheated or scammed which is just silly.
"Why does it matter actually? Very naively, because those people are customers. Why do they have an argument? Because the original purpose of prestiging was bragging rights. You pay a hefty ingame price to get a cosmetics to show off." <- Classic I'm a paying customer! guy, whom payed a very hefty in game price, my god compensate this man!
You don't pay any price to play DBD its fun, you buy it and you play it for the fun. There is no hefty in game price to pay what a completely ridiculous sentiment.
The OP states this albeit in a rather aggressive way and I'm inclined to agree with them to an extent. I like free stuff too, I've played a lot of DBD and if they give me free stuff for sticking with DBD for so long then great! Love it. More free stuff may make me stick around for longer too.
But lets not let that time spent evolve into a false sense of achievement that deserves reward, because when you step back from it and take a good look... you really haven't done ######### that's worthy of any reward.
They were pretty clear that it wasn't going to be anything grand and stated that it wasn't a wearable cosmetic or costume. The release even said some players may be underwhelmed by it in an attempt to curb expectations.
Way too many people "misunderstood" the fact that the so called "reward" was going to be visible to other players and give bragging rights to whoever had it.
Even Fog Whisperers said they were let down by what they received. Fog Whisperers.
We're not talking about people screaming "I WANT MY LEGACY SKIN REEEEEEEEEEEEE" because it was clear (not from the beginning, but they cleared that up early enough) that the reward was not going to be a skin, we're talking about people who are upset by the fact that the main purpose of what they did (Prestiging = Bragging rights for having the bloody skins) is being taken away from them since everyone will have those now.

The feedback given on PTB-Issues was massive. And yet the only things BHVR came up with were basically another round of nerfs? Lets look into some issues given feedback an a high amount of threads, posts and comments on all platforms:
The prestige cost was deemed unnecessary by everyone in this community and just contradicted the "grind reduction". BHVR: Reduced it. -> Demand/arguments ignored.
Transitioning was deemed "not thought through til the end" as the amount of items and offerings were an indicator on how much people invested in each character too. BHVR: They even cut down any p3 full perk character into a p3 lvl 1 character, levelwise. Removing the bonus. -> Some issues/arguments ignored and made worse.
Prestige reward was deemed not like a bragging right and ugly. BHVR: Redesigned it. -> Most demanded issue/arguments ignored.
BT-Basekit: Was deemed not good enough as BT as perk is still necessary. BHVR: silence. -> Issue ignored completely.
Tunneling: Revert of DS-Stuntime was demanded. BHVR: silence. -> Issue/arguments ignored.
Camping: With increase of gen times and more slowdowns viable, was it deemed to be buffed. BHVR: Just changed the obvious OP perk Overcharge. -> Issue/arguments ignored.
Perk-Trashing: Several perks esp. on survivor side were unnecessarily trashed just for the sake of getting them out of the meta. BHVR: Nerfed several perks even more. -> Issues/arguments ignored.
As well as some other demands like Thana being reverted as it gives rise to new "forever" killers, which was ignored. HOW is it possible to come up with such poor changes after this massive amount of feedback given by the community? And dont tell me "we had not enough time". Most things shouldnt have even been done in the first place and could have been easily reverted or changed by some tweaks. WHY should anyone ever give you feedback again if you come to such unreasonable changes and ignore the (easy-to-fix) demands?

These are the three things that bother me the most.
These changes affect the most dedicated players to the game, and they all affect them negatively.
It's like if a shop didn't value their most loyal customers. It doesn't make sense, it's detrimental for the company's reputation and it drives people away from you.
Perks and stuff like that can be tweaked further down the line, but it's a lot harder to backtrack on the first points.

Well, it's the only way to gain Iridescent Shards, they could maybe add a small multiplier that increases every time you reach level 100, like, 1% more shards per Devotion level

Theres nothing wrong with being proud of how much time and effort you put into something you enjoy. No matter how insignificant that thing is. If people want to show off those achievements the only people who have an issue with it are those who do not have it. Which is pretty petty. They want to feel like the time they put in ment something. Which impacts you zero.

By that logic, we can just (mis)construe anything and everything as something that doesn't matter.
Why does it matter actually? Very naively, because those people are customers.
Why do they have an argument? Because the original purpose of prestiging was bragging rights. You pay a hefty ingame price to get a cosmetics to show off.
With next update, the cosmetics can still be gained, but the price will be gone. And those who paid it will have nothing to show for it. Despite being promised they would have been given their bragging rights back.
I don't see their grievance as controversial or entitlement.

I think people are just asking for what was promised from the anniversary stream. Or at the very least, heavily implied. That something unique, and would giving bragging rights would be rewarded to those prestige 3 before the update. Some people, like myself, are more upset that it felt like a bait and switch.
It's not like players came up with the idea of the reward themselves and pretended to receive it.
BHVR said there was going to be a special reward being VERY secretive about it, and everyone understandably though it was going to be a skin or something to show off.
BHVR basically came out and said "No it's not going to be a skin, but don't worry, you'll still be able to show off", ok people were a bit let down but ehy, at least you'll be able to show off.
Then PTB came, not only the reward was something that you could NOT show off, but it was uglier than Dredge as well.
People complained about it, but can you say they were being entitled?
Now BHVR changed how the reward looks, but the point of the complaints was not only the fact that it was ugly, and BHVR didn't do ANYTHING to address those complaints.
Would people be entitled if they were to ask BHVR to stick to their words, for once?
It is a computer game, but people are dedicated to it, and brushing off their efforts like it's nothing it's disrespecting them.

He is not wrong. 120 perks will get a P0 Lv50 character to P2 Lv50, which is basically P3 Lv1 while keeping all your belongings.
Are we sure it's going to be P2 lvl50 instead of P2 lvl1?
If it's like you said, then yes, 120 perks are enough, but I didn't see that info anywhere so I'm not assuming it'll work like that.
Especially after all the decisions that bhvr is taking with this process

Okay, so if I have more than 120 perk tiers on a character it's not worth getting them to Presitge 1, because I can get the 2 bonus prestige levels anyway without losing items, addons, offerings, and perks. Got it.
Time to go do some counting...
Okay, so if I have more than 120 perk tiers on a character it's not worth getting them to Presitge 1
If you have more than 170 perk tiers, not 120.
Having 121 perk tiers on a P0 character gives you 2 additional prestige levels, so you'll be sitting at P2 when the update drops (P0 + P2 = P2).
Having 0 perk tiers on a P1 characters gives you 2 additional prestige levels, so you'll be sitting at P3 when the update drops (P1 + P2 = P3).
Of course, you need to take into account the fact that you'll lose all your items, offerings and addons when you prestige, including any retired ones.

Agree. All this discourages me from even starting the game until this mess is sorted out. Otherwise, it just feels like I'm wasting BP. Good time to catch up with Steam back log of other games ;)
Yeah I mean, after they revealed the P3 "reward" I gathered a few even items and offerings while the event was live and then never bothered to open the game again since anything I do is basically going to be a waste of time.
I could bring the characters that I still have at P0 to P1, so that they'll be P3 after the update, but as I said, I gathered the event offerings and items on them sooooo not gonna throw those away now 🤷♂️

So everyone basically gets all the perks in the game on every character. I've been working on getting every perk on every character since 2017. I am nearly done and now every player basically gets all the new perks on everyone without a sweat. It was fine before this new change was added to upcoming mid chapter.
The fact that people who P1 will get all the perks is not a mistake.
The fact that your efforts are not going to be recognized properly is, though. That you should be complaining about.

as far as i understood, both get translated to P9.
but the inventory will not be deleted, right? So the P3 all perk will still have plenty of items/addons/offerings as well as all general perks. But the one P3 lvl 1 won’t have anything but the unlocked perks from other characters, right?
also, do we know which level they are gonna be? I would assume P3 lvl 1 will be P9 lvl 1 and the one P3 lvl50+ should be P9 lvl 50? Or will they both start at lvl 1?
Exactly, both translated to P9 instead of applying the same catch up logic based on perk tiers that is applied to everyone else.
Noone will have their inventory deleted, but that has nothing to do with it. People who didn't prestige are gaining prestige levels based on perk tiers, preople who P1 or P2 are gaining prestige levels based on perk tiers, people who P3 can go ######### themselves and be capped at prestige 9. That doesn't really seem fair to me.
I'm assuming all characters are going to be either PX whatever level you were at, or PX level 1.

Oh my god. What is this?
your prestige levels aren’t taken away from you, you still have them (actually they get translated to the new system) and they are being displayed in the end game score screen.
the reward you are talking about is not supposed to be a direct reward for your prestige level - as you will not be able to get it with the new prestige system. It’s only meant as an acknowledgement that you have taken part in the old system - without wanting to screw over those that didn’t prestige. You did not reach P3 because Impfung this reward after all.
your prestige levels aren’t taken away from you, you still have them (actually they get translated to the new system) and they are being displayed in the end game score screen.
Fun fact, as of now if you are P3 with all perks your efforts are being actually ignored compared to someone who is P3 level 1.
So yeah, they are disrespecting people who put more efforts in the game.

The cost was only relevant insofar as a real arcade machine, the thing I was using in my analogy, has a real-money cost. I anticipated that it might be brought up that you'd be spending money on a real arcade machine, thus making the badge being insulting slightly less of an insane viewpoint, so I mentioned it just to be clear that it wasn't relevant to the point I was making.
The cost then became a talking point because it was the only thing you responded to. I absolutely agree it's irrelevant.
Well then if you don't consider the bloodpoints and the time invested in "playing the arcade" (which if I understood your metaphor is Prestiging) sure, prestiging was free.
But we totally disagree on that, because prestiging did have an in-game cost (and not a small one I would say), and that is being totally ignored and spat on by BHVR.
Again, a lot of people who prestiged even already had some exclusive icons or graphic elements only they could see: retired offerings and items, but prestiging got rid of those. The prestige portrait alone is not enough to properly commemorate the efforts of old time players.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059786#Comment_3059786
It's free because it doesn't cost real money, which is what would be relevant to the analogy. Feel free to substitute any amount of in-game money you like for the hypothetical arcade machine because it literally couldn't matter less.
The fact that it didn't cost real money has nothing to do with the P3 reward though?
I'm talking about rewarding the efforts put by people towards the game, which can be measured in bloodpoints and time.

Is it really worth that less that other people get it too?
Sorry maybe a culture thing but it does sound extremely petty to me
Is it really worth that less that other people get it too?
Well, it's disrespectful? That's the whole point of it? BHVR is saying that our efforts towards the game count nothing or very close to nothing since people who didn't put nowhere near the same effort get the exact same thing, or better in some cases.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059618#Comment_3059618
Close, but not quite.
The better analogy than that would be that the town had kept an old arcade machine running for a while, that most people kind of ignored but some did spend some time playing for fun. The town decides to replace the arcade machine with a new one, and decides to also give the people who'd racked up some play time a little token of acknowledgement by offering them a little badge. This is announced in advance, so some people shrug and decide to go play it while it's there.
Those who played are then split between people who go "oh neat" and people who get incandescently angry about how supposedly insulting this 'reward' is for something that they were engaging with for its own merits and not because they ever expected or were promised literally anything at any stage.
(This analogy also has a flaw that most arcade machines cost money, but pretend for the sake of argument that this one was free.)
Prestiging wasn't free. That's the whole point of it. You used to lose addons, items, offerings and perks in the process and had to start over.
1.5 million bloodpoints to get from level 1 to level 50.
Reset, lose addons, items, offerings and perks.
1.5 million bloodpoints to get from P1 level 1 to P1 level 50.
Reset, lose addons, items, offerings and perks.
1.5 million bloodpoints to get from P2 level 1 to P2 level 50.
Reset, lose addons, items, offerings and perks.
Ok, now you're P3 level 1.
Total bloodpoints used in the process: 4.5 millions.
So yeah, prestiging wasn't free. At all.
What I'm asking is a bit more compensation for the 4.5 million bloodpoints you had to throw out the window to get to P3. Bloodpoints or iridescent shards would be fine. Kind of like the town saying "Oh you know what, for the people who played so much at that arcade machine and made it to the leaderboard, we're giving you X tokens you can use to play at the new arcade machine we put there."
And to ######### remove the cap of 9 prestige levels to the catch up mechanic, because that really makes no sense and i would like to know why anyone would ever defend that decision.

Well people who were playing only because they had to P3 the characters and get all the perks on them can stop playing even now, but 3 months puts us in October, and October is always big for DBD (unless they botch this Halloween event as well), so I'd say end of September it's going to be the lowest

Btw, why did you prestige before? What was the reason?
No, no, I'm fully fine with how they are doing the catch up mechanic for people who didn't prestige, they are getting the best deal and I'm happy for them.
I'm NOT fine with the efforts of the other people being brushed off like it was nothing.

No there is nothing wrong with that.
When you p3 you got the bloody cosmetic that you were told you'd get and when you got all perks you got exactly that.
You had the bloody cosmetics and all perks while the ones who didn't p3 and all perks didn't.
You suddenly expecting more then what was first agreed on is entitlement. Nothing more
Imagine eating at a all you can eat restaurant and eating the most anyone has ever eaten there. And then when the management decides to give you a ribbon you start complaining the ribbon they are offering isn't big enough.
That's how petty this is
Nope, your comparison is missing a few points:
It would be more like this:
The town organises a race or a treasure hunt and says that there will be a prize for whoever participates in it.
Someone cares about the prize, so they train, participate and even manage to win it.
Someone else doesn't even bother to participate and while the other train they go out for drinks or partying
The town decides that the race or treasure hunt was too hard, and gives the prize to everyone. People who didn't even bother to participate included.
People who won complain to the town.
The town gives them a sticker and calls it a day.
Now people who most likely didn't even bother to partecipate in the race are telling people who won it that they are being petty and should settle for the useless sticker.
This is more akin to what happened

There is nothing unfair about this. People who p3 all perks did it cause they wanted to p3 and have all perks.
Which they did. They got what they were promised
Just because it suddenly isn't rewarded further doesn't mean they didn't reap the benefits of it already. They got the perks and addons to play with untill now. Nothing was wasted cause they got what they were promised.
If the base game became free would people also complain about the 20 bucks they "wasted" completely ignoring all the hours they have from before it was free?
There is nothing unfair about this. People who p3 all perks did it cause they wanted to p3 and have all perks.
BHVR to people who got all perks without prestiging: "Oh don't worry, your efforts are rewarded, we'll count how many perks you got and give you prestige levels according to this"
BHVR to people who P3 just before the update (wasting 4.5 million bloodpoints): "Good boy, here's a cosmetic effect only you can see and you'll most likely disable in the future"
BHVR to people who P3 (wasting 4.5 million bloodpoints) AND got all perks: "What do you want from me? Go play in the dirt"
Nothing wrong with that?

I don't understand the people who complain about having played many hours, it's not like they didn't have fun, it's not a job, they don't have to give you anything for playing +1000 hours, it was your decision, it's not a job for which they should pay you. (sorry for the bad English by the way)
Recognition would be appreciated, especially when they promised such recognition and then massively underdelivered.
And I find highly ironic the fact that the more time you invested in the game, the less it was worth it.
You wasted 4.5 million bloodpoints prestiging? Yeah, here's an effect only you can see and you'll most likely disable
You went the extra mile to collect ALL perks after spending 4.5 million additional bloodpoints? Well BHVR doesn't really care about it.

I cannot really understand how they looked at that reward and thought "Yeah, that'll do, I'd be happy with that"
-
@jesterkind said:
Does it matter, though? P9 is the last one that actually gives you any kind of reward, so exceeding it wouldn't exactly give you anything.
As for the portrait thing, I don't see what else they could've done without it being something too exclusive. Maybe a post-trial icon, but I don't really consider that necessarily better than the portrait thing.
Well, since prestiging has a cost now (that's necessary for the bloodpoint economy apparently) yes, it makes a difference.
People already sunk millions and millions of bloodpoints for getting all the perks on a P3 character, and they're being told "Lol that doesn't matter anymore, bringing someone to P1 has the same effect"
You want an idea for an alternative reward that is not too exclusive? Consider this:
Prestiging ONCE costs around 1.5 million bloodpoints
Why not giving out 500k bloodpoints per prestige level prior to the update to reward those efforts? Not exclusive, everyone still need bloodpoints to level up the other characters they have, people who didn't prestige never wasted those bloodpoints in the first place so they should be fine with it
(And noone said giving out the prestige portrait means they can't give out anything else at the same time)
@Seraphor said:
The difference is you'll be P9 AND still keep all your items and add-ons.
You're literally getting 6 free prestige levels and still complaining.
So there's no difference between a person who has a character to P3 level 1, and a person who has a character to P3 all perks
Cool, cool
Why are they giving out prestige levels based on perk tiers to people who didn't prestige at all since getting all the perks has no meaning apparently?

Well, we will see.
It's either your way, or they just shamelessly lied about it to get more players grind during anniversary.
There wasn't really room for "misunderstood", what they talked about and what they presented are just two completely different things.
Well, I'm sorry I was wrong
In the end they gave everyone the finger, and apparently people are fine with it because "it looks better than what was shown before"
I don't understand how anyone can be happy with the stupid portraits after what was communicated
-
Mostly disappointed by the stupid choice they made for the prestige reward.
Yes, the portraits look better, yes, I'll most likely still need to disable them because it's going to be present only on SOME characters, no, it cannot be considered proper compensation for the 1.5 million bloodpoints that were wasted for prestiging.
Bloodpoints or iridescent shards would be better.
-
Personally I don't ######### care what the effect is.
I'll need to disable the effect anyway because not all characters will have it so it's a totally pointless reward.
I'll take bloodpoints over it. At least I can use those to pay for the stupid prestige tax
-
It was an ugly pointless reward before, it's a pointless reward after the dev update.
I'll never be tired of saying it, this so called reward is an insult to what you had to sacrifice in order to prestige.
I don't care if they improved it, it is not proper compensation.
I'll take bloodpoints over a different portrait I'll need to disable later, at least I can use those to pay for the stupid prestige tax.

You need P3
Basically, if you only prestiged a character once or twice, BHVR is giving you the finger :)

Licenced characters is a good point there. Imagine that you're only P3 character is a Stranger Thing character or any one of our other licenced characters - you would get no reward.
Making the P3 prior to the update a portrait reward for all characters is much fairer imo.
Making the P3 prior to the update a portrait reward for all characters is much fairer imo.
Not really.
First of all, it's an ugly effect and even if you were to like it you'd need to disable it unless you're fine with having half the character selection screen glowing and half not.
Second, it commemorates nothing because A, noone is seeing it (but many of us couldn't care less about it being visible unless it's a skin or something I can choose to equip) and B as many other people already pointed out, it doesn't feel like an adequate rewards for years of grind and wasted bloodpoints, items, offerings (exclusive ones as well) and time.
Honestly, like others pointed out, it is disrespectful to the players and their dedication.
I understand you don't want to waste too many resources for designing or thinking hard about another reward at this point, but you have the possibility of asking your community what they feel is right and, if you demonstrate that you're interested in the satisfaction of your players, we'd probably be fine with receiving a reward down the line, just make sure noone slips through the cracks like it happened with the Leatherface shards.
And if you don't even feel like asking the community, you could give a bloodpoint reward, that should take minimal effort, right?
Consider that prestiging once a character costs 1.5 million bloodpoints in average, you could say that each prestige level unlocked before the update will be rewarded with 500k bloodpoints, this way people who have their character to P1 or P2 don't feel excluded from the reward (it's honestly unfair that THEIR efforts are dismissed like it was absolutely nothing)
Possible ideas for more suitable rewards IMO could be:
A different version of the bloody cosmetic (I know you said you don't want to give skins as reward but you could always backtrack after hearing the community feedbacks)
Enable the sparkles effect around the characters in trials, you could tie it to a copy of an existing cosmetic, either the default cosmetic of the character or the bloody version of it, so that if you equip that cosmetic, your characther will have fireflies around them.
A charm that represents the character you reached P3 with, something like the Huntress' mask charm that was in Rift 8 (I think?)
X amount of currency per prestige level, like I said earlier, prestiging before the update means you threw away bloodpoints and time, since you need to start over again, so like 500k bloodpoints per prestige level or like 1k iridescent shards per prestige level
-
If you want to keep using M&K, practice, practice and rebinding your controls to keys that you find comfortable using
or, if you play only survivor, you can keep using a controller, there shouldn't be a whole lot difference
-
I'd be all for killer skins to change the appearance of the killer power, I think it's been a long requested feature of the community, i wouldn't even limit it to legendary sets TBH, I'd tie the different appearance to like, the torso or the weapon skin of the killer

yes but you dont have to prestige 3 times i think, someone shoul do a bit of math and see how many levels you need to go full perk since prestiging doeasnt reset your character anymore.
Also anyone know when the new sistem is going live?
The numbers I wrote are regarding prestiging all characters ONCE, unlocking their perk at Tier 1 and allowing you to go "the old way"

so you prestige one time and you can go "the old way"
is 10 levels more x character but can be handled
10 levels more per character, plus the 50k prestige tax
31 survivors means 310 more levels, PLUS 1550000 bloodpoints to prestige all of them at least ONCE
28 killers means 280 more levels, PLUS 1400000 bloodpoints to prestige all of them at least ONCE
Sure, it's only 10 more levels

Unfortunately it is incorrect. You need to prestige1 to unlock the perks. Was confirmed by some bhvr moderator.
Too bad, that would have been an actual somewhat good change for new players

Based on my understanding in the new system you don't need to level up a character to level 40 or 50 to unlock it's teachable perks on other characters. Once you buy a DLC the perks will start appearing in bloodwebs of all characters immediately and you can buy tier1, tier2 and tier3 perks.
If you level up a character to 50 then all characters will get the tier1 version of the teachable perks and you will need to buy tier2 and tier3 in bloodwebs.

Do you have a source for this? It's the first time I hear this
-
You keep everything you already have unlocked.
If you bought a Teachable perk from a character bloodweb, that perk will still show up on other characters bloodwebs.
If you bought a perk from the shrine previously, that perk will be automatically unlocked on all your characters.

"Also do note that i am excluding BP offerings, if i included them the percentages will increase even more.
TL;DR = BBQ bp bonus takes up 30-45%% of your BP earnings, this increases a lot once you bring good offerings and play well"
You mean Decrease.
If you bring BP offerings, the percentage of your BP attributed to BBQ will decrease.
Example:
You score 30,000 BP.
BBQ (if you get 4 stacks) doubles that by adding another 30,000.
Bloody Party Streamers similarly adds another 30,000.
Your total is 90,000, with 33% attributed to BBQ.
2 sets of BPS would give you 120,000, now BBQ is 25%.
Once you factor in offerings, dailies, challenges, codes, monthly reset, bloodhunts and events, you'll find BBQ probably accounts for about 25% or less, with WGLF closer to 10%.
Guess what; the new role incentive bonus provides a minimum of +25%
Guess what; the new role incentive bonus provides a minimum of +25%
Scenario:
I'm playing killer
I average 25K per match (that's the average more or less, can we agree on that?)
There's a 25% bonus to play survivor
I start playing survivor
Survivor gains less bloodpoints than killers in average, let's say 20K average per match if you're competent
+25% = 25K average
Thanks for the bonus BHVR! That changed literally nothing!
Ok but what if I'm playing survivor?
I'm probably in a SWF so no way I'll go play killer by myself, especially when I can equip an Escape cake and get a bonus 100% more consistently, or when i can convince my friend(s) to bring a flans or BPS, to get a minumum bonus of 200% consistently.
Plus ehy, the 25% bonus is calculated on your MATCH bloodpoints, so you should compare it to what BBQ and WGLF gave on the MATCH bloodpoint gains, and 25% is comparable to ONE stack, ONE.
If you're playing killer and you got only ONE stack of BBQ, you probably had a very, VERY ######### game, if you're playing survivor and you got only ONE stack of WGLF, you're doing something wrong.
The bonus incentive is a scam, the bonus bloodpoints from BBQ and WGLF were way better

I don't think that they didn't want it to be a cosmetic, but rather they just didn't want to waste the resources to make a new cosmetic for each character that they wouldn't be able to make money off of.
It's very disappointing.
There was even a lower effort reward that would have probably been better.
Reaching P1 means you waste 1.5 million bloodpoints.
Giving out 500k bloodpoints per prestige level would have been better at this point if you ask me, and they wouldn't have wasted the effort to implement the setting to turn off the stupid filter.
-
I mean, they didn't want the reward to be a cosmetic, so all BHVR could do is..give a cosmetic effect on the portraits of the characters
...uhm...wait...

I’ve been playing a lot of killer the past few days, I’ve only gained one or two pips and i’m still stuck in Ash. My games have been good and I’ve been burning survivor puddings/ party streamers, there’s been a lot of the 6th anniversary offerings too. Seems a little bit sus. I’m currently sitting at Ash III.

This has nothing to do with pips, bloodpoint gains don't influence the emblem system, you should check the Emblem page of the end game screen (I think it's the second one?) to see which emblem you need to work more towards
Probably yeah, playing a different killer would help a lot, Plague doesn't really gain a lot of points in Malicious and Chaser

That's what I'm saying, it's clear from their communication that they intend to release the end game icon, the only reason I see for not releasing it in the PTB is the one I told you earlier, so that they can claim to have "listened to their community" when they actually release it on live.
If it turns out to be true, it's embarassing as ######### to say the least.

You just hope it's like that, because it would mean we are going to get actually something better.
But I think it's like 50/50 that they are serious with this garbage.
Nah, they aren't serious.
Too many people "misunderstood" that the reward was supposed to be seen by others to be a simple misunderstanding.
I'm happy you'll be satisfied with the end game icon, because I for sure will not.

With all the endurance stuff about the drop, it would be fine
What does the busted endurance effects have to do with EGC (which, BTW, ignores any busted perk the survivors have)?
-
It'd be fine if they removed the bonus but offered an equal alternative.
The BP bonus is not an equal alternative since it requires me to play a role that in 90% of the cases I don't want to play in that moment.
Plus, I did personally liked the BBQ aura reading, yes, other perks reveal auras in a better way or for longer, but BBQ shows it at the right time, when I hook a survivor and I need to find another one to chase.

All I hear is blah blah blah
All I'm saying is, egc makes game end. If it didn't slow down/extend. No problem.
Then both sides will have to end asap. No more swimming in the match for longer than ya need 🤷♂️
2 minutes is more than enough time. Because your either going to go for the save or your going to stand around for 2 minutes and wait anyways.
All I hear is blah blah blah
No point in having a discussion with someone that's not even trying to listen
Keep being clowned for your ideas, since apparently you like that 🤷🏻♂️

The only time I could see it justified is if you're the only one left that's dying. What if you decide to suicide but the killer wasnt going to make it to the next hook?
My entire point is that there's way too many variables and situations that a suicide feature would make the dbd experience worse.
What if you decide to suicide but the killer wasnt going to make it to the next hook?
So the killer is not hooking a survivor because there's not a hook close enough.
What's the difference between waiting 4 minutes to bleed out, and waiting 2? The killer can't hook them either way, so both players saved 2 minutes of their time 🤷🏻♂️

My apologies for not understanding.
I just don't think adding a mechanic for a very specific bm for a very specific situation shouldn't be a thing. Maybe if you're the last survivor in a match with literally zero chances. But people suggesting to "speed up" bleeding as a mechanic should never be a thing.
Why not?
Why should the game not have failsafes to avoid specific situations?
Go back to my original comment and explain why in that situation a "Speed up bleed out process" would be a bad option to have.
