  • Second one is a lot easier for me personally. First one works, but it's close to being hard to see, so someone with complete deuteranopia instead of moderate like myself may struggle with it. I appreciate your willingness to work this out though!

Same issue that everyone has been having for months, survivors that are down don't make noise so it's really hard to locate them. Really game breaking.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1359793#Comment_1359793

Did you make sure if the survivors had balanced landing or not?

They did not. When I followed them I fell on top of them while they were busy staggering. Still need to run the tests though, still working...

  • I agree - makes no sense to deny altruism from the cages. The survivor literally cannot ever escape from the cage on their own, how is it not being altruistic getting them out of there? One of the few complaints I've seen about PHead that I completely agree with.

  • He’s a very difficult killer to play. People are realizing that and moving back to what they’re comfortable with.

I’m super curious to see how often he’s played in a month though, that’ll be a lot more telling on how popular he is after the dust settles.

He stood there with malicious intent I couldn’t flee.

The question is specifically if he downed you though. If he downed you the game was still playing out and it’s not a hostage situation. If he blocked you and then stood there not moving or progressing towards downing you, AND you were the only one left and EGC wasn’t happening, that’s taking the game hostage since the game will never end unless he moves/attacks or one of you DCs.

My apologies mate. Is there any colour that would be better for you to see it?

Thank mate. It wasn't the toughest to find out, just disappointing with the dead end master challenges.

Blue instead of yellow would make it very clear from a color perspective. Or purple. Or use a darker green for the green so it’s a stark contrast. Not overly fussed either way though.

  • ...I wouldn't have known there were green and yellow circles if not for the legend. I still can't see it, but I can figure it out based on the web at least...stupid colorblindess. Still, good guide!

  • Making sure I understand this: He bodyblocked you and then downed you with his ranged power?

If so, that's not any more of a problem than a trapper that bodyblocks and puts a trap at your feet, or a Hillbilly who blocks and saws. It's only a problem if he stood there and refused to down you or move away.

  • The fact it's half the time this time around makes it better automatically. Send in a map offering to The Game and you should get it just inherently if you're working a gen while someone's running the killer above/below you.

I suggest using Nvidia's Freestyle for DbD if you have color blindness. It helped my cousin to see blood and stopped me from yelling at him to follow extremely visible red blood marks in plain straight.

Main issue there is I've got two forms of colorblindness at once (deuteranopia and protanopia)...filtering one tends to make anything that would be influenced by the other worse, since filters are set up to only help one at a time.

I dont think thats it, i legit cant find a match at all. I even waited a bit for survivor queue times too. Yesterday it was all fine and dandy, finding games in minutes lol

How long did you wait on your longest time spent waiting before cancelling and starting again? Curious how excessively slow it is (because 15 min would make me inclined to think it's a bug)

  • Killer queues get pretty long right when a new killer comes out, people want to try them out. Give it a week and it'll be back to normal. For now it does take a while to get into a game until the survivor mains come out at night, then it's fast again.

  • Perks can definitely have varying uses depending on who you're playing...or honestly who's playing. I'm colorblind, blood is 100% useless to me on outdoor maps unless I'm using Bloodhound, then I can actually see it. Don't take it often but if I feel like being able to actually follow blood on Macmillan or something, it's a nice alternative option.

So now he gets same amount of BP for hook/cage or sacrifice/mini mori?

Sort of. instead of 500 and 200 in sacrifice, the 500 becomes a deviousness scoring event for caging. It counts correctly for the emblems, but it does lower your sacrifice scores. Final Judgement is a flat 1000 to sacrifice.

  • @Mandy said:

Can you tell me what issues you are having with sounds please?

I'm not the OP, but I've mostly noticed that survivors don't make falling noises anymore...or more accurately, they seem to be making the "landing" noise as soon as they start falling and are then silent for the duration of the fall and the landing. I haven't made a report yet because I wanted to do more testing on it after work today, see if it's on the survivor's side as well, and if it's any falling or if it needs a vault/no vault to make the noise, but I can confirm SOMETHING is wrong about it.

This is still a problem. He will become Legion tier of hate. Remember when all Legion games lasted 3 min at most because everybody hook suicided? Well I remember because I'm main solo and people just suicide because who cares about others? The difference here is that at least people can't hook suicide because (SURPRISE) this killer also makes it impossible for people try to kobe.

The number of survivors who handily beat me last night despite me caging, and the number of survivors saying they had fun playing against me, even in a win (hell, the one I got his adept we were chatting in a very friendly manner about the match and how we felt about it until Steam Maintenance kicked us out) say otherwise. If he was destined to become original Legion levels of salt mining, I don't think I'd be seeing the amount of friendly discussion I have been in my matches as him.

The issue is: it's inconsistent with the entire game.

BBQ and Pop are the most common killer perks since ruin nerf, making his power not activate Pop makes him a trash tier killer. "hurdur but you can just hook people" so, I must not use part of his power in order to use the perks? What is the point?

DS, BT, We'll Make It and Deliverance are perks that you see all the time and they are literally useless against this killer. It's not hard to imagine a build with all this 4 perks. My Claudette, for instance, usually runs DS + BT + We'll Make It. Hell yeah, playing with 1 perk!

Correction: you're playing with 1 perk at most 1/20th of the time, since there's 20 killers. Right now everyone's playing the shiny new toy, but in a couple weeks we'll be back to the usual roster spread. And even then it only doesn't work if the PHead player is waiting until the person is tormented to down them...which...is an incredibly poor choice on the killer's part. You down asap. If they happen to be tormented, you have the choice. Anything else is inefficient and hurts their point gain/score/pressure/etc.

It's kinda like how OOO is completely useless against a Wraith who stays cloaked when not actively chasing someone, but absolutely ruins Freddy since when you're asleep he has no TR, and how Spine Chill counters stealth killers but Doctor laughs at the perk. Same kind of deal, just on a more extreme scale - but crucially the extreme scale is a situational thing in the first place.

Yup but the devs don’t care. Kinda sad tbh. People are screaming for buffs on these forums but don’t realize that he can literally tunnel someone out of the game.

Any killer CAN do this. Bubba is still the most effective one since he can hook someone and have his defenses up fast enough that any save that wasn't literally immediate is doomed to failure. But, last I checked, facecamping Bubbas were considered a lot worse and getting lower rewards than those who actually learned to play him well. I'm willing to bet just about anything that the same will be true of PHead. Is it possible? Yes. Is the behavior easily punished? Yes. And easier than Bubba since the cage spawns as far away as it can.

  • Terrible RNG, made worse by the fact they always buff its odds the first couple weeks.

  • @Clevite said:

Tunneling killers are going to tunnel, doesn't matter which character they choose to play.

And sometimes it is the right tactic, and needed to swing momentum.

Kinda like unsafe unhookers are going to perform unsafe unhooks.

Precisely. It's no different imo to the Bubbas that facecamp. Is that the only way to do well? No, and in fact it's generally a worse choice to do that. Are people who like that playstyle going to be attracted to the character? Probably, but that doesn't mean the character is bad.

Besides, you objectively have a better chance to save someone who was caged than you do against a Bubba who's facecamping with his chainsaw revved. Bubba's right there from step one, PHead has to traverse the majority of the map.

I've so far had two survivors I've been chasing run me around the map to the caged person and choose to uncage while we're still in a damn chase. Altruism lemmings don't care what killer's being played either. Gladly hooked/caged the one dumb enough to do that and left the poor survivor with the idiot teammate on the ground to get picked up...no one deserves that #########.

  • From my experience, if the survivors know the map and the killer doesn’t have mobility, survivors win. If survivors don’t know the map, killer wins. If killer has mobility and survivors know the map, could go either way.

  • There are definitely games as him where I feel like I would’ve been better off playing like a Trapper back in the “traps could be permanently sabotaged” days...but then I also have games where I’ve got one person in a cage, one on a hook, and I just managed a completely blind wall shot for a down by mentally picturing where they’d have to be if they’d been moving to get distance the whole time. It’s a work in progress to be sure, but I think it’s on me rather than him. I personally find him fun, even if I’m in one of the “I’d be better off M1 only” games, because it’s still very much a learning experience.

Nah, he was a p3 billy with optimal perks and charge addons. He knew exactly what he was doing. At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt because it was the new map, but clearly he had the option to down someone else easily, but instead just focussed on me. He could have easily gained a kill by hooking me 3 times, which also would have sucked, but at least that would cover a secured kill.

And no, I wasnt the obsession, there was no obsession. Not a single ritual or challenge includes slugging people.

And yes, the teammates were morons, but by the time I realized that, I wanted to suicide on my second hook, but before I had the option to, someone unhooked me. And from that moment on, DC'ing would give me a bigger punishment.

I just want to say that prestige just means they like the killer, not that they’re amazing with them. (This is a bit of a sore spot for me right now because I versed a couple streamers tonight in one game and when I went to watch the VOD after as I always do to see how I played from their perspective and they just spent the whole time mocking me for being a P2 Executioner who was still clearly learning how to play him. Like...he came out today, of course I’m not a god with him yet!)

That being said that guy was an absolute nasty person. I hate killers like that because they promote the toxic behavior from survivors in a self-sustaining cycle. Also why I try to give second chances when someone is just not having a good match. We’re all here to have fun, and people who intentionally ruin it, regardless of what side they’re on, are the low point in the community to me.

  • From what I've seen and experienced survivors seem to not be calling out as they fall from a height consistently anymore either. So more sound breaks on top of the existing ones not fixed.

that killer instinct thing is annoying even not permanent ... 2 sec.... but after 2 sec if you step again at the trail ... it show again the instinct... and make you never can hide....

cage send them far ? but that cage also disable decisive strike and breakout so maybe fair enough.

If you're constantly stepping on and off a trail I really don't have much advice for you. He can't put them all over the map, if an area is covered in trails than the rest of the map is going to be trail free.

Cage is intentionally designed to not work with any hook perks or carry perks, for BOTH survivors and killers. Pop, BBQ, Thrilling Tremors, Make Your Choice...all reasonable perks, all not usable if he cages. It's a two way street.

  • I fail to see why anyone would bother playing him if it would take potentially five times on the hook/in the cage to actually take anyone out. Why not just play any other killer who could take people out in 3 guaranteed? Alternatively never use the cages and just go for hooks, but in that case why bother having that power at all?

  • Went from 3 to 6 before I got the adept. It's so nice using actual perks on him now, even if he's still very much a WIP on how good I am with him.

  • @BestGame said:

he need buff ? really ?

what about killer instinct when tormented which always show your position ?

what about punishment skills which make pallet and wall useless ?

1 hour tormented status HUD ?

and also... what about cage or final judgment which make decisive strike and breakout useless ?

OK, We Need Fu*k*ng Buff Him !!! 🤣🤣🤣

Killer instinct works for about two seconds after you step off the torment trail. Definitely not a permanent thing

The ranged blast is very easy to dodge and he can't hide exactly where he's firing (unlike Huntress/Deathslinger)

The HUD is a bit much, I'll give you that.

The cage that also is guaranteed to send them as far from PHead as it possibly can, which means unless the entire team decides to leave the person he will not have the chance to camp them? (Seriously, in all my games as PHead so far I can think of exactly 0 times where the "best" play was to charge down the cage I just made)

I'm an avid DS supporter, and I don't mind that DS or BT don't work with the cages, believe me.

I am against him knowing where the cages are, killers will abuse this mechanic. This is the main reason I'm avoiding survivor for the next few weeks until the Pyramid Head fad dies down a bit.

I’ve been playing him all day...want to know how many times I’ve smacked someone fresh off the cage? 2. Why did this happen? I was actively chasing someone and they decided to run me right to the cage and make a pit stop to uncage. I ignored the poor sod who had the worst teammate ever of course in both cases, but all the same, I don’t think it solves the problem you’re trying to solve. Idiots are going to alruism lemming even if they have to astral project to do it.

  • I definitely feel like that's something that needs to change - a killer shouldn't negate points from the survivors just by using their power. The PTB to live fixed PHead not getting emblem progress and fixed some point values, I definitely agree there should be altruism point rewards for caging.

  • I’ve definitely had a lot of people dodging intelligently, all of his powers are very demanding to know when to use them and when to hook/M1. I’m in red ranks and have only “won” 2 games so far (RIP my Adept though since they were both ruthless) as opposed to 3-5 Brutal killers and as many entity displeaseds. He’s got a significant skill cap, so I definitely think some time is needed before we judge him too harshly one way or the other

  • It’s largely intentional. They made it so that you have momentum that feels like you’re dragging a giant sword through the ground - which you are. Takes a bit of getting used to and I think is going to make him a higher skill cap killer than he would be otherwise.

  • I’m guessing the license agreement said they wouldn’t allow that skin to be used as pieces. Seeing as it’s Konami I’m not surprised. Saddened, but not surprised.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Same reason I think Huntress should have a directional lullaby. These killers can be on top of you before you know it. A ranged killer shouldn't have that strong advantage.

nevermind, it got changed at some point in the past when I wasn't playing. It is no longer directional. Huh.

You seam to have Tritanopia just a guess though. That is actually increadiably rare. Only less than 1% off humans are effected from what i could gather.

I've only been officially tested for Deuteranopia. Eyequeue says moderate Deuteranopia, moderate Protanopia, and no Tritanopia. So while it'd be cool to be able to say I'm in the 1% of something, I'm unfortunately thinking it's more generic than that. Though, come to think of it, I wonder if it's rare to have multiple color deficiencies at once...

Kind of cool to talk about this though!

Edit: went back and looked at the results more, I was one point off of having moderate Protanopia and that's been more my experience, so I'm going to say moderate.

  • I've got over 2 mil points saved up, I'm ready to get nowhere near where I want to get with them!

  • I enjoy playing against slingers because I can actually run him lol. With one exception I have been able to mindgame my running well enough that they give up trying to shoot me and just M1 me to down me (because I'm bad at looping but good at mindgaming). That one that still nailed me has my immense respect.

  • I can guarantee you they want him on there. In general it seems like The Nightmare and The Cannibal have very specific license deals that prevents them moving to new platforms quickly. They always seem to be lagging behind the others, Switch still doesn't have Nightmare and only relatively recently got Cannibal. So I would say that it's safe to say they want to add him, but when is unfortunately not known due to the nightmare that is his licensing (pun not intended but appreciated in hindsight)

  • If you made a report in game after the game for them, you can follow it up with any video evidence you may have https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/home/leaving?target=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.deadbydaylight.com%2Fhc%2Fen-us

at that link. You do need to have reported them in game though for that to be valid.

I completely understand the point. My point with content creators was that they punish people unhooking a lot. I didn't say camp. I guess I am no longer ignorant that I should be expecting this every time I feel altruistic.

There's a difference between being altruistic and being altruistic without information though. If survivor #2 takes a hit and you don't know where that was, then it's almost certainly a safe chance to rescue #1 if you're by them. If the killer beelines back at that point they chose to abandon the chase they had in favor of pressuring the hook - still not scummy, but it's less likely I find, especially in my own gameplay. Even if MYC is up, that gives me three survivors now I could down in one hit, so I prefer to finish the chase I got into before the unhook and then try to find the MYC after person 2 is hooked.

If you have no information on where the killer is, then it's safe to assume a rescue could go south in an instant, especially if they have a way to hide their TR or have mobility. Planning ahead in those situations helps a lot.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

Sometimes I leave a hook to find a survivor in the distance running for the hook. I go to intercept but sometimes I don’t catch up to them until they reached the hook. This scenario needs a name because it’s not camping.

I call those altruism lemmings personally. If you're hook rushing regardless of the clear and present danger, you've decided that those 1000-1500 points are more important than being intelligent and overall progressing your team to victory, since you're going on that hook yourself now and your team is worse off than before with an injured, recently unhooked person, you on hook, and your team down another hook state.

So recently, I've seen Scott, Jaee, Tru3, otz do it in a lot of their matches...those are fairly large youtubers, no?

I can't comment on anyone but Otz and Scott, but generally what they're doing is checking the areas survivors are likely to be that were close to the hook. It's not as though they're just standing there waiting for an attempted save, but instead are going "ok, check this gen, check that gen, the next gen I want to check is on the other side of the hook so I have to pass by it..." It's not camping if you're patrolling areas that the survivors could be putting pressure on that also happens to be near the hook.

Using my Wraith play as an example: I use thrilling tremors and Make your Choice all the time on him. If TT tells me that a gen is being worked on, I'm beelining over there. If it's on cooldown still or if all gens got blocked, I patrol in a rough circle so that MYC is active looking for anyone to interrupt. If the save happens before I find someone in either case, it's objectively a bad choice to ignore that and try to find someone else, I'm coming back for the MYC target. I've had people accuse me of camping with this strategy because to them it looks like I'm just waiting for the save for EZ downs, but in truth I just didn't find anyone else and the point of saving has now become my best option to apply pressure.

  • I was taking...quite a long break from the game when Legion came out, so I can't comment on their original state - I will say the buff to their running and vaulting was very much appreciated though.

Old Freddy...I liked playing him, and he felt unique, but I don't think he'd be particularly viable with how optimized the game's gotten at this point. Could they have tweaked him instead of the total rework? Of course, but I also don't think his current iteration is bad per se. Granted I don't play him super often but all the same.

Old Nurse...this one's a sore spot for me. I could 4k as her before her nerf. I can 4k as her now. But the fact I'm doubly punished for blinking now makes it so damn unfun I stopped playing her, and she was my first true "main" as killer. Every time I try to play her seriously now I wind up being glad the game is over, and this is with me winning. That's not good design in my opinion. I have more fun doing a "nothing Nurse" where I'm perkless and powerless, just to see how well I do, than I do playing her properly now. Favorite comment I've gotten from that has to be: "I got hooked twice by a no blink Nurse. That's a depip for my soul."

  • I remember the old versions of the game where becoming exposed didn't give the HUD icon nor the little screen shake. You just had to have the game sense to realize the intense version of Halloween's theme meant you could be oneshot, or that the killer had NOED, or DH. At the time I thought giving the survivor the icon was too much information...that being said, with all the different possibilities now and different statuses and whatnot, I do think it was kinda necessary, even if I miss the general feeling of dread when someone got oneshot and you weren't sure why.

  • Naming and shaming isn't allowed, you'll want to remove the details or you will get penalized for it.

  • @Clevite said:

As far as old school killers are concerned...it is a crutch perk and not respected.

I know the views have changed a bit, newer killers don't see it that way. They see it as a end game saver and just state " do bones", but forget it wasn't originally a hex perk.

To survivors, it just feels cheap. Like to a killer that gets hit with BT save into the DS stun as survivor runs out the door. Just doesn't seem earned.

I've been playing long before it was a hex perk, and I never thought it was that good honestly. Old NOED the play was "everyone hides for two minutes" and that was extremely boring, so I didn't take it. Now it's a hex, and while no one does bones unless there's an archives challenge, it's still a perk that does nothing for 95% of the game.

That being said there's nothing wrong with using it. Both sides are fully in their rights to bring everything that they want to try to win. A removable oneshot generator is a lot less oppressive than a lot of other options on both sides imo.

  • I ironically don't fit in any of the actual things (mild red/green and mild blue/yellow, but not as washed out as textbooks tend to show them), but this is the closest it comes. I can see scratchmarks (usually, the dull ones can blend in), I can see hooks, I can easily see the auras of teammates via kindred, etc. The hard parts are the gen auras/totem auras/trapper trap auras as killer...those are dull enough red that I have a really hard time seeing them on some maps. It's gotten to the point I've stopped playing Trapper as much because I got tired of not being able to find some of his traps.

Oh, and blood. Blood is useless to me on outdoor maps without bloodhound. Indoor maps generally it's a bit easier to see and follow the blood.

  • @Well_Placed_HexTotem said:

Only way I can think to get it is to sandbag your teammates when there’s one gen left and leave them to die on hook while you have the last gen almost done.

Its really only a problem because of EGC. Killer closes hatch and your gen is 99% done... oh well better luck next time.

But the Huntress hatchet one was worse. Down like 100 survivors from 20+ meters or something? They changed it to 20 survivors iirc. I got it when it was 100. The protect 250 survivors or whatever is worse too.

Hell, even before EGC that was the easiest play to get it. Killer couldn't close hatch, so that left three points of patrolling for them. Pop the gen the moment the hatch spawned, and then hide for a minute so the killer assumes you're trying to find the hatch. Then get a door and gtfo. Did that in a game where my wife (then girlfriend) willingly died via me not coming to save her so I could 99% the gen.

Unfortunately, as of EGC it's now 100% required to do this, and anyone who isn't teaming is going to be...less ok with the plan.
