  • Yeah, I’ve noticed it as well. Just had a Hillbilly lunge halfway around a loop to clobber me on what on my screen should have been an easy stun and no hit. Don’t have those problems earlier in the day.

  • I’m thinking Corrupt, I’m All Ears, Infectious, and Surge. A tracking perk, a chasing perk, and two slowdowns, none of which rely on him specifically hooking. Even though I very much feel like proper play of him will involve 50% or more of your hook states being from actual hooks, I don’t like the idea of needing to choose between a Pop or going after the guy with infectious. It’s more pressure overall to cage and be after the new target immediately.

  • I'm an above average killer, otherwise I'm honestly not sure where I'd rate myself specifically.

Survivor I'm above average until I get into a chase where the answer is to loop. Then I'm a boosted idiot.

  • Play completely normally and then watch from their perspective afterwards if they were live to see how they were. Used to give bits before watching but that was before I did that with someone who was very toxic verbally to his teammates and me during the match. Now if I give bits it's after watching that match's vod

  • Plague would be my suggestion for killer - Corrupt Intervention and Infectious Fright are very good on your existing killers, and Dark Devotion can help with mindgames if you like those. Plus with her buff that came with Deathslinger she's more of a consistent killer than she used to be, and it's just amusing vomiting on people.

On the survivor side, Laurie would be my suggestion for DS, but she's not buyable with shards. As is, a lot of the meta perks are on free survivors (dead hard, bt, unbreakable, adrenaline, sprint burst)...maybe Feng Min for Lithe for another exhaustion option?

  • The ranking system itself I don't believe is changing. That being said they're working on an MMR that would put you against others of a similar skill, regardless of your rank (since as many people will tell you, rank isn't all that indicative of skill). They're running tests on live at various times and I think it's actively tracking what it would make our MMR now (or if not then it will before it releases so we don't all start from 0, they did confirm that) so while it won't be on Tuesday, I do think it should be in the next couple months or so.

For some reason there are much more people of older generations...

I want to blame the fact that gen Y/Z are the ones that got normalized to the Internet and forums and such things. Plus it's a forum for a video game which takes out more people from older generations since statistically they're more appealing to younger people. Not that I'm saying there aren't gen X/Boomers here, I'm sure there are, but they're very likely to be in the minority, all things considered.

Of for sure we do have advantage then, I can't deny that at all. SWF always has advantage it's just how they use it. We all run different builds that suit our play style and overall we just want to have fun with the game, and have everyone in the match including killer some BP.

And more power to you for that, you're the SWF I enjoy playing against when I'm killing.

Generally when people are complaining about SWF here it's to complain about the hyper optimized bully squad, since those are the obvious SWF. Most casual SWFs don't even really look like they're a party, so it's just a normal game at that point.

  • This kind of SWF I have much less of an issue with. Y'all are playing to have fun, not to optimize to hell and ruin the killer's day. It's how I SWF as well.

That being said, keep in mind you are still getting intrinsic advantages from this. "I know where the hex is" is something solos cannot tell each other. "Myers just chased me off my gen in the shack, it was almost done" gives two pieces of crucial information if it's early on in the game, and one piece otherwise. It does make it harder for the killer, but it also doesn't break the game since you're not optimizing everything. No problems with it overall.

  • I try to play the game, because you can’t know their level of coordination just from there being an OoO user. If it becomes clear they’re full on tryhard coordinating though, I become just FASCINATED with a wall in the basement. Seriously those things are interesting to look at.

Great time to get your adept achievements though!

Exactly why I’m not playing killer until Tuesday...

  • A most of the time, I'd rather make an honest effort for those 5000 points I won't be getting otherwise.

C only when the killer has been a truly poor example of camping/tunneling (and I say this as someone who plays killer more and straight up enjoys killer more). Bonus points if I was never hooked all game.

  • It's a wonder to me that, when a game is moving to have lore that includes sexuality mentions (the archives), the acknowledgement that we should see something besides what is considered the "norm" (despite historical evidence that sexualities other than hetero were not only in existence for a long time but were celebrated in past cultures) is considered political. It's not political that someone who is attracted to others of their gender would like to see that represented in a game where Dwight crushes on Rose and David has an unnamed female ex. End of story.

  • A good hag can obliterate non-coordinated teams in under a minute. Even with a coordinated team, she's rough. If she's against four flashlights though, she's going to really struggle and for that alone I can't rate her a 10.

Can I suggest playing the Pig... just don't crouch (no stealth)

I want to get better at Pig than I am. I blame the fact she's less inherently interesting to me than some of the other killers, so she's currently sitting at level 40. Once I've gotten Phead fully equipped I was thinking of branching into fully kitting out a killer I don't play often, Pig is definitely in consideration there.

  • I definitely fall here. I have the hoarder mentality for games and using limited use items, even if I have over 20 of them, feels wrong. If I want to feel empowered for a rare game I'll take them, but it's too hard to not feel guilty using them because they're gone after that. Same kind of deal with offerings for me, really, and items/add ons on my survivors.

  • Wraith and Legion are my best two at the moment, followed by Doctor, Hag, and Trapper. I've got a back pocket Nurse if I ever wanted to come back to her, as while I can 4k without much trouble with her still she's too unfun to play.

I'm actually a pretty bad Spirit, and any stealth killer with stalk I'm braindead with. Everyone else is between those I'd say (disregarding how much fun I have playing them).

  • There have been SWFs that I steamroll as killer, there have been SWFs that steamrolled me. I still think it's ridiculous that we've had the SWF feature this entire time but the game is still balanced around no comms. Even when against a not-top tier SWF, the comms are a major problem the killer frankly has no counter to.

I love this game, but damn is it frustrating not knowing how the game would have gone had they not all been calling out every play I made to each other.

  • @Liruliniel said:

They did soften the gap between Solo and SwF by changing Kindred. The only thing is most people want a meta build they don't want to adjust for the lack of information that they could otherwise gain from perks.

Other than that I actually like your post man. Good job.

As someone who's ran Kindred since 2018 - it helps me play smarter than ever now. It does not make my team play any smarter than it has in years, unfortunately. (I agree with the logic of what it SHOULD have done though)

  • I play Wraith without add ons in red ranks and while, yes, I definitely have games where I get stomped, I also have games where I do the stomping - I like my loadout, my general killer play is solid, and I know how to sneak up on people as Wraith. Use obstacles to your advantage - even without the all seeing add on if someone's on a gen you should know they're there before you can see them due to the sounds - therefore, don't let them see you until at least the first bell hit...your uncloaking is half over by that point and it gives them minimal time to run away.

If he should get any buff at all I'd say have it be a bit more speed in his cloaked form - the yellow windstorm alone is a night/day difference in speed, default cloak supposedly is faster than uncloaked but man it doesn't feel like it.

  • F13 honestly looked really boring to me from the gameplay videos I watched. I can't really put my finger on why, but I just didn't feel like I'd have fun with it. Never got it so I can't tell you if my thoughts were correct or not, but yeah, that's my opinion.

  • As a survivor: watching my team all doing gens like good players when I’m getting hard camped. It’s “oddly” satisfying for me because I know I’m dead, but the team is punishing the behavior and that’s wonderful.

As a killer: idk why, but there’s always just this moment of clarity and adrenaline right when the match loads for me and the camera is spinning around my killer. I can’t explain it beyond that but it’s just satisfying.

Thing with those examples are, they're not used to say "HEY. THIS PERSON'S STRAIGHT." More the action being the thing to take away from it, Dwight has a crush on someone. David's ex doesn't want him or whatever it was. Whether they're straight, gay, bi, or an attack helicopter. It doesn't change anything about them or their personality, not really. So, I don't see why it matters what they are, or why their preference should be focused on and I really don't think it should be a part of anything, even though it already is in those cases.

Yui is the biker, not the lesbian, or the Bisexual, or that straight girl, or even the Bike.

And I agree, completely. The way I see it, this goes both ways: if David’s ex story had said that HE didn’t want to see him again, it should be no more earth-shattering than how it reads. That’s all I think BHVR are trying to get at with their tweet. Some lore snippets will have that kind of thing in them going forward, and that’s not a bad thing at all.

Listen I support the LGBT Community but this is pandering this also feels like a "Promotional" agenda and for what? the original "Make them how you see" was the best way because it didn't matter canon or not about how fanfic and shipping's were.

This isn't a "RPG" like Fable or Sims this is a Horror themed video game where survival are the goal/motives and not about their "Sexuality"

Now that I am reading from Facebook/Twitter...the LGBT is being toxic toward those who don't agree with their views (opinions) which is why I think leaving them to the "Fans" was the best idea that or allowing "LGBT" Cosmetics would have benefited perfectly for the community but retconning or adding new lore just to pander doesnt sit or feel right to me and others who are LGBT or are supporting the LGBT.

this is just my two cents how does everyone else feel?

Note: Let's be civil and not toxic and attack others known Opinions.

Honestly, if not for the archives, I would agree with you. The archives, however, have mentioned a female ex from David and Dwight crushing on Rose, just as two things I can recall off the top of my head. If the archives are going to throw those kinds of details in, inclusion officially matters.

If they were still blank everymen outside their basic backstories, then I would agree it's not necessary to call it out. But they're not anymore, and we have implicit understanding of at least a couple peoples' sexualities already. If it's going to be there, then it should be representative of the whole, not just what's considered the "norm" by society.

^ There's my opinion about this from the other thread, it fits perfectly here. Because the archives are showing sexuality details, it would be actively wrong to completely exclude anything outside heterosexuality from the details.

I don't think a character in this game should have which gender they like to bang be a part of anything. Not because I hate gay people or straight people or anything silly like that, but because, well..

    Why does it matter?

Is the Spirit liking to munch on carpets going to change her? No. Is David liking to pound the other cheeks of men going to change anything? No. Is the Clown liking to suck on something that definitely ain't a finger going to change him? No.

So why does it matter? Can't they just be characters with their own bit of lore of what they did and why they're here?

Besides, the more cultured of us have already read up on what Clown and Kate get up to in the fog, thanks to Kaidou Kana.

  • Honestly, I think now's a good time for this. Their Twitter post made me think about things in a different light to before - because the Archives let us deep dive into parts of the characters' lives, they're no longer blank self-inserts to project ourselves onto (I say as a Bill main on survivor when he has a clear lore, but ah well). Makes it a good time to reassess where the characters lie on all sorts of things because they've chosen to go deeper into what makes them, well, them. I'm fully supportive of this, and am curious to see if any of my personal thoughts on characters wind up being true.

That might be true, but changing the requirement to only 4 hooks can lead to situations in which a survivor gets moried without being hooked once before.

So does Devour Hope and Rancor, which people generally accept as fine. Making the req 4 hooks is quite literally one less than DH, except not removable, without the instadown at 3. Really not that much different at that point.

"Prematurely removes survivors from the game"

No, it doesn't. You are not entitled to a certain amount of play time per trial before the killer can kill you. You could bleed out in 4 minutes if the killer slugged you and nobody came to your rescue. You could die on the hook in 10 seconds if you tried to break free and then didn't struggle. You die when you die. That's all.

I have 100% lost far more teammates as a survivor to suicides than I have to moris. Not even comparable numbers wise for me.

  • Killer is the more frustrating role when you're starting out, and again at high ranks. No arguments there. We've discussed frequently on these forums how bad the new player experience tends to be (long queue times and unbalanced matchmaking, as well as a majorly daunting grind)...unfortunately, the main thing I can say is I hope you keep trying. Play survivor while you level killers if you're having more fun playing survivor for now - your bloodpoints can be spent on anyone, not just what character you played to earn them.

I'm happy to chat about any specific questions you may have as well about killer (I'm no top tier streamer killer player, but I certainly consider myself a better killer than survivor, despite being red ranks for both). Feel free to shoot me a message, respond here, or friend me on steam (removed as they added me) if you play on PC.

I hope you stick with it regardless, best of luck!

What do you think about changing moris so you have to hook every survivor once before you can use them?

That way killers would have to put in more effort to use it and can't just tunnel and mori the first survivor they hook without them making them too weak.

I like the idea that there needs to be four hooks in a game to use an ebony better than that idea- otherwise you wind up with one person blending the whole game which hurts the experience of all other players. "I'm the only one not hooked, so if they want an ebony I just need to hide!" As opposed to "oh crap, they only need one more hook!" ...ebony is supposed to be strong, and I think making the counter "let your team die because you're the last one to be hooked" isn't too far off from what we have currently, which is "hope you find the hatch". At least the four hooks suggestion encourages team play.

Didn't the Entity grant Philip the Wailing Bell?

    I don't think he's supernatural pre-Entity.

Yeah, Wraith was a totally normal guy until the Entity grabbed him, and not only that, a guy who didn't want to kill anyone. He murdered his boss out of revenge for tricking him into killing others, and caught him by surprise - a very crime of passion killing. I don't think he'd be hard to take without any entity-helped powers.

1 mil points stored the normal way.

    90k from dailies I haven't claimed.

The rest from archive challenges I've completed but haven't claimed.

Plus if I want to I could also spent shards on perks I already own in the shrine of secrets for even more.

  • I've got over 2 million points saved up to get as far along the prestige route as I can with him right off the bat.

Fun or not they should be nerfed.

First Brand New part was fun for survivors, why did they nerf it?

Old insta heal was fun for survivors, why did they nerf it?

Old DS was fun for survivors, why did they nerf it?

I just want to point out they did nerf ivory/ebony mori. Used to be they didn't require a hook at all, just down and murder.

Anyway, commenting on the OP's topic, any further nerf to moris renders them an actively bad idea. Why is this? Well, the only reasonable nerf to moris at that point is "survivor must be on death hook to use it." However, you cannot tell me that it's a better idea to mori a survivor, taking up between 9-14 seconds (source on that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hrcylUc4sY) depending on character played for a cool animation, than to spend two seconds picking them up, and transporting to a hook? Objectively, unless there are no hooks within 7-12 seconds of travel time, depending on killer, you're doing yourself an active disservice using the mori at that point. it's why I think PHead's Final Judgement is so well designed: it's fast. It WILL beat the time to pick up and transport. No reason not to use it if it's available. Full length moris on the other hand...not so worth it on a time saving perspective.

I'm also curious how OP feels about Devour Hope. If five stacks are obtained double hooking two survivors and single hooking one, and only after that does the fourth player get downed, they're dead. On first down. I bring up this scenario because it happens, and yet I don't think I've ever seen survivors upset by it. Yet moris are extremely upsetting for...some reason.

Personally, if I'm being moried as a survivor, it's free clearance to move on to the next game. If I wasn't having fun in that game, getting moried was probably a good thing since now I can move on to something more fun in the next game.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt3E-kmWPBU&t=4s

Ok, I watched this and, while I will freely admit to being a terrible ghostface, a couple things I saw that stood out to me from a killer fundamental perspective:

Most importantly: you were hyper respecting pallets. When given the choice to chase through a pallet or go around the wall the pallet was against, you chose the wall. This lengthened the loop for the survivor and extended your chases.

Secondly: When you got your Pop, you should have abandoned the chase you were in to go stop the gen showing up on Discordance: you already were down three gens, allowing two people to work unhindered on a fourth was a major misplay, especially since you had time to get there and pop it.

Thirdly: you weren't mindgaming at all, even with your power up. Mindgaming could trick the survivors into misplaying directly into your hands - chasing blindly after them gives them as much power as you can give them, especially when you're a stealth killer.

Hopefully someone with more experience specifically on Ghostie can help with his stuff specifically, but as a general killer player, those are the main three things I noticed that were unhelpful to you in that game.

  • They're not planning on it. Main reason being if they introduced any second game mode they'd split the community between those playing that game mode and those not, and people complain about queue times already. In addition, if the mode wasn't popular, it'd be a massive time sink to make something completely new and not get the reward for.

  • I'm not sure which vest you're talking about since I don't really buy cosmetics and her base outfit is a tank top, but Streetwise is her tag, "Mashtyx"

  • I'm not exactly an amazing survivor in a chase, but I'm good at being sneaky, making smart saves, doing gens right under the killer's nose, etc. I've been accused a few times lately of being in a four stack because I fill the role of "the guy actually doing gens" in the traditional SWF group, but I definitely play solo 99% of the time nowadays. Been interesting seeing what the reactions are to explaining I've never met any of the others before in my life.

  • As a survivor I need to learn to loop. I really do. Been playing for three years almost now and I can't loop. I survive by not being chased, or by mindgaming the killers that can't be looped. I'm good at this, I'm in red ranks as a survivor, and got there back when it was harder to rank up as a survivor. But I can't loop.

As killer, handling some of the common tiles better. People've gotten way better at running them since I took my break from the game, and I feel very out of the loop (pun intended) on handling them well.

Thanks for the reply. Hesitant about saving up any more at this point.

I'd suggest doing any tome challenges you can without claiming them, they can't be replaced by new incoming things like dailies. Most of my saved up points are from there, anyway. 600k saved from Tome 3 level 3 alone.

  • That should be a bug. I've been holding on to three completed dailies for a week now in prep for Silent Hill and they've not gone away.

  • When you get the "orange" version of the perk in a killer's bloodweb, all three levels of that perk can appear in any killer's bloodweb after that.

You get the first teachable version of a perk at 30 (in Nurse's case that's Stridor). At 35 you get the second one (Thanataphobia) and at 40 the third one is available (Nurse's Calling).

They can also be obtained in the Shrine of Secrets as an alternative to leveling every character to 40 to gain access to their perks on other killers/survivors.

  • When someone tbags me clearly doing so to be disrespectful, then messes up immediately after.

My favorite example of this: Trapper game on shelter woods. Gens flew, one is dead, have two slugged, not picking up yet since they’d all been working on the same gen and it would be finished in the time it took me to hook someone.

    Steve picks up Nancy.

I down Nancy again while trying to go for Steve.

Run into Steve as he finds a pallet that was left, and stuns me. Tbags the entire time he could have ran. He then runs to the shack where the pallet was down but not broken. He seemingly decides I was just too much of an idiot to break the pallet and vaults it -directly into the trap I’d laid (mid chase at the time to avoid a stun).

    Steve DCs.

the truest of combos - Tbag into DC

  • Exhaustion perks are extremely overrated past the first interaction with the killer. As soon as they know which one you have a smart killer will play around them, and at that point you have 3.5 perks instead of 4.

  • First game ever for me was Wraith against midranks. Was an absolute humbling experience, I could barely hit any of them. IIRC at the time too you didn't get a perk slot until level 5 so it was perkless, add on-less Wraith verse full builds. It's a miracle I didn't stop playing killer right then and there...

Discordance, I have not been impressed in the category of Killer Perks by BHVR for a while either.

But think about it, They can't just make a new NOED like perk, although I wish they WOULD make perks that disrupt the Meta.

The main problem with that is if they do introduce too many more new meta perks in the only way they do new content anymore, through chapters, the game becomes more p2w and people complain about that. No win scenario, really. Not that I disagree it’d be nice to see the meta shake up a bit.

Realized I didn’t answer for survivor. It’d be the reworked “We’ll Make It” for me, but that’s because I don’t use teachables on survivors.

  • Surge has been growing on me a lot recently, but as far as “perks I truly love”? Thrilling Tremors. It’s a nice way to have just a little map pressure throughout the game by blocking off gens for a bit, and it’s almost as good at locating survivors as BBQ.

  • Yeah, that happens. A lot of people that can only play in the evening get on after dinner, and they tend to play survivor more than killer, especially since then they can play with friends. Unfortunately, it's also when a lot of the better survivors get on, and the more toxic four stacks who play more to ruin peoples' days than to have fun, so when the queues get super short, it's my cue to swap to Survivor or a different game for the evening.

  • @Dolls said:

I have a hard time believing the toxic people are grown adults...I mean, I'm sure there are some but my mind keeps telling me that these are a bunch of 9 year olds...

Do adults go to work...come home and then be a bunch of jerks on the internet?? It just seems so sad if that's the case...

I was really interested in playing Killer but gave up after a few matches cause it was too stressful. I only play Killer now if it's something simple in dailies. Like chases people or level up Meyers....or something simple in the rift....

Killer is absolutely the more stressful role, but I can't encourage you to keep trying it enough. I remember feeling completely destroyed my first game as Wraith on one of the Macmillan maps wayyyy back in 2017. I was so bad, it shattered the illusion of being the strong killer immediately. Swapped to Trapper as he was supposedly an easier killer, and slowly but surely got better. Playing survivor helped me think like they did when killing, and I could see progress. Then I tried Nurse and it just clicked.

I may have dropped Nurse in the years since, but I'm able to hold my own against non-SWF 4 stacks as Wraith in red ranks. Not every game goes well, and I do still feel useless some games, but it's extremely satisfying to do well. With Pyramid Head on the horizon, my drive to play killer is higher than it's been in a while, and it really has been a lot of fun, even if some nights I swap to survivor fairly quickly due to frustration.
