It's "stupid", but it's a stalemate. Both sides are responsible.

The killer isn't any more obligated to go chasing someone away from the gens and give up the game than the survivors are obligated to rush in and get downed.

Its a stalemate that's completely being controlled by the killer. I can absolutely expect the killer to try to down someone as opposed to expecting the survivor to just stand still so they can hurry up and die already. If the killer is doing ANYTHING to further the game such as breaking pallets and such in those short chases...thats one thing. If theyre just hitting someone and sending them on their merry way across the map to selfcare and come back for another single hit... they're no longer trying to win and just trying to stall.

I think of this every time people tell me that he's better than huntress. On paper, he seems stronger with his quick ads and lower terror radius but in practice he has so much built in slowdown to keep him from being crazy broken. Not to mention that not every spear you hit will have value to it.

He's fun to play. I love him win or lose but he's kind of an average killer.

Versus, If he's good, it can be a bit obnoxious as "just hold w" is the only thing you can do. But he's no spirit. His power doesn't simultaneously let him get to generators quickly, and then down survivors just as fast.

If were comparing the 2, Huntress and Deathslinger... Deathslinger has more of an opening to get a shot in at Junglegyms and such where walls can't be shot over. His ADS can let him get shots in that Huntress cant due to her taking time to get that hatchet up. On the flipside though... she has the capability to put out dmg rapidly. Given LOS, she can chuck out those 5 hatchets back to back with very little time inbetween.

Thats kind of a shady line though. The smart play is to chase someone to the nearest pallet, break the pallet return to your gens. Rinse and repeat until the pallets near by are gone and you can down people quickly. Survivors start getting desperate and making mistakes like working on the gens before healing as it goes on too.

I wont say no killer ever JUST watches the gens and never commits to chase because of course tgere are dickholes that do that and that should be an issue, my only point is it may LOOK like thats whats happening at first when its not.

After half an hour goes by on those 3 gens without anyone getting hit more than once... ya gotta call it what it is. If someone is using it purely to stall rather than trying to down anyone... thats a problem.

Again, ofcourse. But people tend to mix up builds just to try out different playstyles. Using Stridor on every build on Spirit is essentially using the same playstyle over and over again. Ofcourse a Huntress will have BBQ, however, a Huntress who has Enduring and/or STBFL and gains stacks by hitting people through windows alone, only using hatchets against the obsession, will 100% catch me off guard when she hits me and is able to throw her hatchet less than 1 second later.

Just because its not the most optimal build doesnt mean its boring to run. Catching survivors off guard is my favourite thing to do when I play killer and it consistently ranked me up. Its more fun for survivors when they are expecting 1 build and see a completely different one. The game is about not losing pips, Killer winning conditions are extremely diverse as a Killer could theoretically let everyone escape and still get a double pip. Let alone that survivors tend to have more fun playing against an unpredictable build too. Example: I used Spirit with Bloodwarden and NoED, open the furthest gate as soon as the final gen is meant to pop, pretended to farm so they'd stick around longer, hook someone when the timer is half way-ish and ended up getting a 4k in all cases. They had fun, I had fun and got to kill them exactly the way I wanted to. No need for Stridor at all. Just because it sounds bad doesnt make it bad. And you could claim that it's "trolling" or "messing around". No. I got a 4k by decieving survivors. I could have gotten a 4k by hunting them down and being brutal. But there are more ways to get what you want. That is diversity. Power synergy and playstyle synergy are different synergies. And sometimes doing the unexpected is exactly what throws survivors off. If they expect a bamboozle on a Billy, they will avoid T&L walls and the killer shack. Which can easily be taken advantage off.

Like I said the first time... You dont have to use ANY tracking perks at all. It just makes since to use perks that synergize with various abilities. Can you tell me any killer that would make better use of the perk stridor than Spirit? I'm not saying Spirit HAS to use Stridor, I'm saying the perk works best when used with her and acts to nullify one of her biggest counters (ironwill). I cant blame a Spirit for using it because it makes perfect since to do so. As far as the Huntress and STBFL example... its bad. A Huntress can recover from throwing a hatchet faster than she can recover from a melee swing with 8 stacks of STBFL, so why bother building for a melee Huntress? Typically people use perks on killers to either synergize with a killer's strengths, or help offset a killer's weakness/the player's weakness. We can talk about build diversity, but you cant expect people to throw on perks that make no sense on a killer for the sake of diversity. I'm not gonna say a survivor should equip selfcare and no mither for build diversity for example, so lets not pretend insidious Wraith makes any more sense.

You can go into a match EXPECTING whatever you want, but you shouldnt go around shaming people for utilizing perks that work best for them just because its common. Personally, the Bamboozle Billy is the first I've really heard of it. Figured if any killer was more likely to run it (other than Clown for obvious reason) it would be Wraith, Myers or Legion due to quicker vaulting kind being apart of their kits.

  • If your trying to down survivors, no...its not bannable. If your sole intention though is to prevent 3 gens from being done rather than actually trying to down anyone, thats the line.

  • I find him abit sluggish compared to Huntress. You shoot someone, then gotta spend time reeling them in, hitting them, blood whip animation and reload. Compare that to Huntress who barely has any downtime inbetween hatchet hits...

  • @Mooks said:

I see only a problem with gender and that depends on the voice.. will legendary skin get their own voices or will their be one generic male and one generic female voice or will they always use the voice of the original survivor?

race isn’t a matter at all.

If you look at Legion as a template of the possibility... Could do either.

Spirit doesnt really need Stridor tho. You can literally run 0 addons and no stridor and still consistently get 4k's. Breathing alone tends to be loud enough to find people. I mean, if you're looking for people based on sounds, you will more easily hear them anyway. The only reason I see on using Stridor is literally for people with hearing problems. Just like Bloodhound is for people who have a form of being red colorblind. It's actually extremely similar to using bloodhound on Oni. You already can track survivors with the orbs, using bloodhound is simply overkill.

You can say the same about ANY tracking perk, but that doesnt change the fact that certain perks just synergize better with certain killers. You wouldnt expect a Huntress for example to be running melee based perks for example, or a nurse to be running enduring.

  • Alot of these is just because certain perks combo well with a killer's power/stats. Nurses calling is naturally going to combo better with a killer that has a naturally smaller TR. Who wouldve thought that the perk that boosts volume would be used on the killer heavily reliant on sound? Thats crazy, lol.

  • @Ghostwithaface said:

If you ever want to see just how interesting certain survivors can be. Slap on sloppy, nurse calling, two other perks of your choice. Than play as a sneaky killer. You will get to see all sorts of fun things, like the same survivor running over to the same corner each and every time, to self care under the effects of sloppy.

That and yeah solo survivor which i do all the time, yeah it can sometimes be interesting or match making screws up and you find out. OH yeah, all of your team mates are rank 20, no wonder they were acting odd as heck. That or the killer is rank 20, no wonder this was a super easy game. That and oh hey playing killer, at least i can get more than 5k blood points, if everyone starts killing themselves on hook or just giving up five seconds into the match. Even if the game goes poorly for me.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1313119#Comment_1313119

Yeah sometimes it fun to switch it up. Which due to killers working in different ways. Well hehe. Nothing like playing trapper every once in awhile and than watching everything come together as you begin to snow ball as survivor after survivor falls into your trap and you have fast recovery time, thanks to save the best for last.

That was my Myers game last night. The survivor team was feeling SUPER confident til that T3 popped with infectious fright and the game came to a sudden end, lol.

  • I play killer because I'm good at it. I can swap from 1 killer to the next each match to give myself some variety, or just swap addons/builds on a killer to drastically change gameplay.

That doesn't state what side it's for though, not to mention their link doesn't state anything on the matter

So they have to include the words "for killer AND survivor side" on everything? When the ingame report specificly states AFKing a match, I think its being very clear.

  • Just curious why the run at 0:45 didnt start with 0 seconds on the timer

  • @MamaEagle said:

Your rules state nothing on being afk, I understand that it can be abused; can being a word of may meanings. But I think the question is, if a killer decides for a match that they just really don't want to deal with what they are stepping into and don't want to face the DC penalty and decide the corner of the map looks cooler than the survivors... Would this killer be subjected to a report ticket by said survivors of that match for being afk? Or is this something that some killers can do since it doesn't hinder the game "unplayable" by survivor means

I forgot about Haunted Grounds. That perk would be hard countered as well. But Make Your Choice will have plenty of chances to go off, Iron Maiden is literally never ran and never activates when it is ran. It's basically just a deterrent, the most it's used is with Huntress reloading. Devour Hope doesn't get countered, you get it before gens are powered and have a lot of chances to use it. And given that you get it earlier then NOED, there's less of a chance that Survivors know where all the totems are.

My point still stands though, countering these perks doesn't make the perk itself OP. It wont help against Myers, Leatherface, Oni or Ghostface. Once the Killer knows you have it, it would be very easy to get rid of. It hard counters two perks, only one of which needs a hard counter, the other isn't that popular. Devour Hope won't feel it that much, Make Your Choice won't feel it that much, Iron Maiden is never ran so that doesn't matter. Haunted Grounds and NOED.

Devour hope gets countered same as anything else... There was no stipulation about gens being done. It would also still counter Myers and Ghostface because whether the killer knows you have it or not...the counter here is just "hit them more"

  • @TheMythicalCat said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1311126#Comment_1311126

High Confidence only really counters NOED, any insta-down killer will burn through it really quickly. Remember, you lose stacks if OTHER people are hit as well. So this perk can only ever block 3 insta-downs in a match, no matter how many people bring the perk.

Now or Never won't be that good. It's already insanely easy to bodyblock to an exit gate making the 10 second heal meaningless, and practically all pallets are gone by the EGC anyways so the stun wont matter except for DS, which already guarantees the Survivor will escape. An extra 1.5 seconds won't change much.

Tricky Situations will literally counter two killers. Myers and Oni. Very few other Killers will ever have to worry about this. If you down a survivor, and leave to chase another, the perk will only activate once that other survivor is downed, which most killers (Myers and Oni being the exception) will take a bit to do. By the time the Killer could down the other survivor, the first one would likely be picked back up. This perk is only useful if two survivors are downed very quickly, otherwise you wont even get a chance to use it before they're brought back up.

None of these are OP. At least try to bring something to the post.

Exposed doesnt just mean NOED. Theres also make your choice, devour hope, haunted ground and iron maiden.

I think they won't, we had two reworks ( Freddy and Doctor) and they were great

Freddy's also drastically changed the character. It was a sum positive overall, but old Freddy's strengths (his aura reading and slowdown) got completely changed. Would suck if they took away Bubba's ability to 1 shot or something while theyre giving him buffs in other areas.

  • Just hope they dont ruin Bubba when they tweek him.

  • I barely bother with moris myself since all it does is heavily stack the odds in my favor, and I tend to do just fine on an even playing ground. That being the case... id say keep the yellow moris around. They really dont alter gameplay at all and lets us see the cool mori animation. Feel like those are fun for both sides.

But only survivors who sleep would potentially be effected. Hag and Spirit would be safe from having nightmares.

Doctor, whilst being a living mortal, has his eyes pinned open...so he should be resistant to sleep! 😄

Thats the thing though. The entity pressed the delete button on his 1 restriction/weakness. Freddy's lore states that the entity tweeked his powers when she brought him into the fog.

  • Freddy is the obvious pick. He's immortal and all powerful as long as he stays in the dream realm. Last time someone tried fighting him on his turf... this was the result...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWPq9Hb81aM

The only difference between this fight and one with the rest of the DBD cast is Freddy would have alot more pinballs to play with.

    I'm glad they do it

Shows the devs how weak the killer is in real time

If his PTB kill ratio is under 2 they will prolly buff him or his perks

Hopefully they buff those perks because rn my experience is they are worthless

Its not really showing anything since the person using the killer probably doesnt have many perks unlocked on them yet and is still working out how to play him. This is why alot of ppl who actually wanna test on the PTB do so in custom matches so they can throw on any perk/addon and not have to wait for a random lobby to form.

  • Well, if your practicing Deathslinger you could throw on NOED so you can reel them away from the exit gate and 1 shot em.

I doubt console players have any idea what it is to be against a red rank PC killer, yes they will adapt, but they will lose their ranks for sure, also us PC player tend to be A LOT more relentless and willing tryhard. Some will like it , some will hate it

Pretty sure the only thing that console survivors will notice is that all of a sudden...theres alot less killers who they can 360. They'd be in the same boat as PC survivors who don't overly rely on being able to 360 killers.

How about just movement? Survivors and killers can turn on a dime in PC, thanks to mouse and keyboard controls. Good luck doing that with a controller.

Theres really no benefit of keyboard and mouse over controllers for survivors, which is why many survivor players use controllers on PC. While I would say there IS a difference for killers...Killers arnt competing with each other anyways. Theyre competing against the survivor players...who they're likely to not be able to tell the difference between.

Do you think a console player will be able to dodge a PC Nurse/Billy or any rank 1 killer who can do a 180 swing in 0.2 seconds ?

What happens when a console killer meets a PC red ranks death squads 4-man survivors ? He will be bullied.

Yes...I dont think theres any difference between survivors on console vs survivors on PC. Heck, alot of PC survivors already use controllers. Controllers do not hinder the movement of survivors at all.

  • @Nameless said:

I haven't played against him personally but I have played as him and I don't think it's too hard to actually dodge his power; the animation feels pretty slow and if you miss you get punished pretty hard too. I can't really help but compare him with Demo who in my opinion has everything this guy has but better. You won't be able to hit people through stuff with Demo but I find it a lot easier catching people at loops with his shred ability as people can't seem to dodge it as easy. Besides, the fact he can hit through walls is something that sounds pretty good on paper at first but is it really though? It's not like Pyramidhead knows where you are on the other side of that wall so he's going to need to be pretty good at predicting where you are to actually land that hit, especially if the animation really is slow. Pyramidhead may not need to carry people to hooks when played right but it comes at the cost of losing pop, which arguably is one of the perks run the most by killers atm. While in the meantime, Demogorgon not only makes up for the lost time by using his portals correctly, he also gets to keep his pop.

I haven't played against him though so maybe I'll end up finding his power too hard to dodge swaying my opinion on him. The PTB also just released so it's not like I've mastered him too.

Feel like aura reading perks like nurses calling or I'm all ears would work really well on him for this exact reason...so he knows where exactly he has to aim on the other side of a wall.

Pretty sure the "VPN users" the post is referring to are the ones that are super laggy and playing from a completely different side of the world. I don't think anybody would even notice if somebody from NA was using a VPN and still playing in their servers. Maybe I'm just too ignorant of how VPNs work, but I don't imagine somebody playing in their own area while just using a VPN would be hitting from a distance or lagging out just because of the VPN.

Alot of times lag is just a thing and "VPN" is just the new hot word people are using to explain things. You wouldnt BELIEVE the amount of times I was called a lagswitcher back in the day when something doesnt look right on the other person's screen.

Nope you are wrong. I just watched a broadcast from otzdarva and true while both were playing Killer and payed attention to the loading screen. The tips for the Killer are not always shown.

A survivor player is only able to see those hints when its their first time going against that killer. Typically by the time you hit rank 15 or so you'll have faced each killer at least once. A team of reds or purples are very unlikely to EVER see such hints unless a new killer drops and its their first time facing it.

Sure, because implementing potentially multiple AIs managed by an already not-always-perfect Dedicated Server system without knowing how its performances will be impacted by it has absolutely no risk at all.

Of course replacing a player with a bot if they disconnect is a good thing to do, but do they work? Do BHVR's servers can manage them? Is it worth it to have an half assled bot for the sake of having it immediately, or is it better to wait a bit, test and have a better performing bot system that has a lot less chances of breaking (more) the (already not perfect and constantly criticized by the community) game?

Seriously, if they were to implement the most stupid bot in the game right now, people were going to complain that "Bots stoopid, bhvr cant code, call of duty bots are perfect".

Im just imagining an AI teammate bugging out and blocking someone in a corner.

If 3 survivors can escape, it means they've done 4 gens. At that point, they'll probably finish the 5th gen and escape anyway. It's not the big of a deal at that point and it rarely happens anyway. Killers have moris, survivors have keys. At least survivors don't have iridescent heads.

Typically this is the state of the game where survivors are at their weakest due to a large majority of the pallets already being used. 3 survivors alive with 1 gen left could very quickly end in all 3 dying before that last gen is popped.

Got the pallet, only to realize this Nea went straight back to the same gen I caught her at the first time, only this time injured. If the killer is in the area and youve been given the chance to...run to a safer location. I figured ok...she must have DS and thats why she's playing stupid. I went ahead and downed her expecting to eat her DS (I had nemesis+pwyf on, so eating a DS to get a PWYF stack isnt a bad trade). NOPE, no DS on the Nea. Its often times survivors doing dumb moves like this though where they stick around unsafe locations out in the open away from pallets that they'll often times shame the killer for hitting an easy target.
