I wouldn't say that they're OP or useless, I would at most say that they're unnecessary. Having it disable when another survivor is hooked is great on paper, but that just means that if I have two slugged, I can hook them both back to back and then return to tunnel the first guy freely. Having it disable in lockers also seems unnecessary to me. If the goal is to punish the killer for tunneling, being "safe" in a locker doesn't seem unfair.
I would, however, say that this would be way too many conditions for one perk. Imagine having to put all of this into the perk description. It would be a novel.
Chapter one: Lockers

I think he means using BT to protect the unhooked, while the unhooker has an active DS

I changed my post, what do you think about it now? :P
im ok with this

My main issue with it is that survivors who have DS are allowed to do risky plays. When a survivor gets rescued infront of you, and you go for the rescuer only to get hit by DS from THAT person...
-
Id say go with Ruin. Typically more skilled players are able to find and break it VERY quickly, but if your not playing often and sticking around rank 15-12... Youre not going against these players.

As a matter of fact, your an alt too.

because if you don't think you'll make it to a hook you can just drop them before they get to the point where dropping would make you let them go.
additionally, leaving people on the floor slowly empties the bar so you basically gauge after picking someone up whether you'd make it or not.
And...whys that a bad thing?

I was referring to curving, it actually takes skill.
keep in mind, if he only plays killer for dailies... Hes going against rank 15s.

@Fab said:
Just count to 12 seconds when carrying a survivor. I think it’s 12 seconds... it might be 14...
While you COULD do that, the same could be said for anyone playing survivor. Being able to SEE the bar instead of just counting could give a better idea of just how much longer you can hold someone. This count becomes abit iffy when things like irongrasp or madgrit are introduced into the mix.

I'm not saying she isn't good, she definitely has all the timings, tile layouts, and what she can throw over down to a T. However, watching her make minute corrections to thread between three different openings at long range is a bit suspect.
Id say thats probably just the result to thousands of hours of using Huntress. She plays Huntress like 95% of the time, and typically avoids relying on addons that would make hitting shots any easier.

The best Huntresses ARE using a crosshair. Scottjund has openly admitted to it and Umbra definitely does, you can see it in how she plays.
Umbra jokes about it all the time, but Im pretty sure shes just THAT good.

So that's why that guy rolled me when I tried to drop him off at the exit. I just thought my drop button wasn't working right or something, lol. Glad I said something.
Its also important to note you wont be able to drop someone manually if theres no room. If your against a wall on the side youd normally drop a survivor...it wont let you drop them.

Oh, huh. That's very good to know, thanks for pointing it out.
I can't think of any reason this would be a bad thing, then.
I think it fills it by like 1/3. Also, you should already know this since your just my alt account, lol.

I can understand why it's not there as it adds some suspense, but I'd use it a lot if it was. I like to be a friendly killer who helps the survivors get back home to the basement (they always get so lost), so having more info than just eyeballing distances and making guesses would be much appreciated.
Though I do worry that any killer could just drop their potato sack once they see it maxing out the wiggle bar.
dropping a survivor partially fills a wiggle meter, so if you drop them when the meter is TOO full... they'll wiggle off.

It does help me with 1000 hours in the game, it doesn't help a new player reach level 40 to unlock teachables.
It's not a real solution, the grind is still predatory for a non mmrpg game
While it's true that it doesnt help you hit lvl 40 faster in order to unlock teachables, it DOES help get perks on your character that youve already unlocked.

Would make sense because you are holding the survivor and you should know when they are about wiggle free. That's just me tho, I don't see how this can be OP to be honest. :)
Im honestly curious if anyone can think of a reason why this shouldn't be a thing. Its clearly just a QoL thing.

Lol.
Balance the game around the 1% of Survivors, but please don’t balance the Killers around the top 1% 😊.
Here’s the chart if anyone wants to see what actually playing solo at R1 is like :
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Fmwuhlmag8s32myoqtKQvCxneF5WNWhRvE4bz6pWfRQ/edit?usp=sharing
This chart cant POSSIBLY be right, since according to everyone whos posted on these forums... Only 3 killers ever get used at rank 1.

Last night I was playing the Doctor and this Neaon (who by the way was way higher than my rank 14 killer, thanks matchmaker) vaulted over the side with the hay bale and fell onto the slide thing below it, and she waited for me which was odd because I knew she was exhausted. So I vault over and I’m just about to hit her when she somehow SCOOTS AND SLIDES back up the hay bale and fast vaults over the other side. Then she Adrenalined and that was that.
That can’t be normal, right? To quote Thomas the Engine, that was some of the biggest bs I’ve seen recently. Besides me, a 14, facing reds and purples.
Sounds odd if she somehow got back up the hay bale from the slide, but I havent seen it so im not sure...

This still has a pretty major issue that existed with the old MoM. It punishes all the wrong killers.
Most of the top tier killers could already avoid the perk entirely, or were Nurse and Spirit who didn't have too much of an issue landing an extra hit. Meanwhile M1 killers were both unable to avoid it, and more harmed by the free extra hit. Not to mention, it's also a free extra hit for doing absolutely nothing. You aren't entitled to it, work for it.
It also works too well with Decisive Strike, as once one person gets the free hit, if someone DSes the killer, then bang, you're the obsession and you get a free hit too.
It's also bad thematically, you're the obsession of a psychotic killer empowered by a god, it wants to kill you, yet there's only 2 perks left in the game that don't make that a POSITIVE thing for the survivor.
The perk needs a complete rework, not adjustments on free hits. If anything, it should be a perk that can grant resistance to one-hit downs to be injured instead. (Conditionally, not "I can never be 1 hit.")
The current mettle of man incentivizes taking hits for your teammates in order to charge it. Maybe the new reworked version could simply assist in the body blocking and give yourself a BT affect, but only if the killer is holding a teammate. Just spitballing ideas. Figured this would keep in line with the spirit of the perk of letting you tank hits for your teammate's sake.
-
@joshuashep22 said:
Okay so this discussion has become quite the argument but mettle of man is so underwhelming I have good Intentions all I wanted was for mettle of man to buffed or reworked into something useful I understand an extra hit can be overwhelming on the killers side but decisive strike does the same thing and stuns the killer for 5 seconds so it cannot be that bad.
The difference being that DS is useful to all who use it, and has some counterplay on the killer side. Your suggestion for mettle is neither of these. While mettle IS very underwhelming and im not against a rework, it needs to be useful to anyone who equips it as well as fair to be against 4 of them.
-
@BlueFang said:
There's just too much bad stuff associated with that idea. Allowing only one person to access it is going to create a lot of anger and resentment among survivors, it'll be the final perfect perk for the second chance meta like it used to be, and overall the perk's whole third hit state is just dumb
The perk needs a completely new effect thats still useful, like what they just did with left behind. If they made it give you deep wounds after body blocking the killer who's holding a survivor if your already injured or something...I could get down with that.
-
@joshuashep22 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/677720#Comment_677720
Yep but mettle of man does not this means that if you are not the obsession or you do not have decisive strike you waste a perk slot
Which is a terrible idea... Your perks should never be deemed worthless because your teammate decided to equip a perk.
-
@joshuashep22 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/677713#Comment_677713
Yes it would be a very risky perk to run similar to the old decisive strike it seems reasonable considering the benefits it comes with
The old decisive strike had benefit to everyone running it though...

In most of my survivors games I end up with 15-17k points escaping the trial.
Considering the predatory grind, that the new changes to the bloodweb do not really address, sonething needs to be done
The bloodweb changes help make it so you dont have to burn as many bloodwebs to get the perks you want. In this end...it DOES help make your bloodpoints go further.
-
@joshuashep22 said:
Don't get me wrong guys a free hit can screw up a killer's momentum but this way killer's can counter it by avoiding the obsession I made it obsession only so that you counter it and so that it benefit's solo queue survivors more than swf
Are you saying the obsession would be the only one who would benifit from this perk? That the perk would do literally nothing at all if you equip it but you ARNT the obsession?

Nope, gotta work on your camping skills. You wont hit them more than 3 times if they die on first hook.
-
@NoShinyPony said:
@LordGlint Yup. It's an issue for survivors as well. You maxx out Boldness super fast, for example, and then you are getting chased and miss out on bp for Objective & Altruism.

Why do you think that the old MoM would have only affected tunneling killers? Is it now considered tunneling if a killer wants to hit a survivor more than 3x in an entire match?
Maybe if you didnt tunnel so much, you wouldnt be hitting the same survivor so many times...

@joshuashep22 said:
So let's get this out of the way first and foremost mettle of man used to be an overpowered perk at least towards the killer's who had no counters to it so how do we fix mettle of man while giving it its original purpose? The answer is simple revert it back to its previous state but make it an obsession only perk and remove the aura reading the killer gets this way the perk still retains its original purpose but is not too punishing to m1 killers the only way it will effect you that much is if you tunnel someone and they have Decisive strike overall this version of mettle of man should encourage going for different survivor instead of tunneling and m1 killers can simply ignore the obsession.
Anyway I would like to hear your tweaks and changes down below what do you think mettle of man needs changing?
Are you saying only the obsession should get the benefit of the perk?

@NoShinyPony said:
The 8k cap per category should get removed. (It's annoying if you don't get bloodpoints for doing what the game requires you to do, simply because you maxxed out one category 2 minutes into the game.)
But let's keep 32k as an overall cap so that we don't get endless farming games.
I could agree with this considering how much easier it is to max out deviousness over sacrifice. With sacrifice, you pretty much need 12 hooks to get all the points. If someone suicides on hook, doesn't get saved fast enough or dies on their 1st or 2nd hook...your not getting full points.

We type similarly because we both use correct grammar and spelling. I'd encourage you to try the same but it's clear you have some deep-seated opposition to the idea.
And, you know, it might not take a worldwide conspiracy for multiple people to be offended by being called hypocrite babies for no reason.
But we really have reached peak "arguing over nothing" at this point, haven't we? Can we just back down from this cliff now?
I was just really hoping he'd try throwing Groot under the bus or something, so I could link their comment from the dead hard thread. Its really ironic that literally every last person on this thread defending instadowns actually DID post on the other thread.

No idea what you're talking about, I haven't been arguing with anyone. Didn't post on page one of this thread. I did agree with the OP of this thread that the killer sounded like a dick, I just encouraged him to relax a little.
On the Dead Hard thread, the only comment I made was to say that I assume every survivor has it as a precaution. Hell, I even liked some of your posts about how easy it is to bait Dead Hard because that's what I was referring to when I said it.
Always assume every survivor has Dead hard, balanced landing, BT and DS, unless proven oherwise. If you play according to these precautions, theyll never surprise you. Can say the same on the survivor side about assuming the killer has BBQ, nurses calling, blood warden and NOED.

Oh yeah, I've been starting threads bitching about the grind for new players and taking heat for it because I'm just so invested in the ruse. Get over yourself, Scrappy Doo.
And yeah, you waltzed in here spraying around terms like "hypocrite babies" and starting highly personalized tiffs with people over something that has nothing to do with this topic over behavior in a completely unrelated thread.
I've been content to watch from the peanut gallery because I found it kinda funny at first, but this kind of behavior seems weird and needy. Maybe get that checked out.
Hes onto us...I mean me. I secretly made this account on the 31st of August, jsut so I could have an alt account agree with me incase this particular guy, who made his account yesterday... comes online.

Thats simply not true. The other thread is about ppl using dead hard too much and making a point against it so how are they defending it? I think I would know they're MY discussions.
Now, conveniently, we're focusing on this thread and some strawman that you think I made up. Did the other ppl who made similar sentiments make up the same strawman? You lied about the straw man in the last one saying EVERYONE was defending dead hard when they weren't and you're doing it with this one now.
Im talking about this thread, because this is the one that you posted to referring to ppl as "hypocrite babies". The people that youve argued with somewhere else...arnt here. Now, name 1 single person who has posted on this thread about instadowns being acceptable. Ill copy and paste that persons response claiming that dead hard is ok from the other thread, showing you that theres no "hypocrite babies" here.

You can see that the few guys who were joking around about their Leatherface chainsaws being OP... actually posted on that thread saying they had no problem with deadhard. I did the same. You dont even have to look very hard, since most of us replied within the first page. Idk if you two have a history or something, but all I've seen him be in this thread is laid back.

This is what you said regarding the other post, copy and pasted: "ALSO post on the other thread defending the use of deadhard. Of the 3 pages...not 1 person."
But now they're suddenly defending instadowns and also defending hard? Try again.
"Other than me" dude, I only need it to me you to have someone to argue against. And you're saying not one person is in agreement with you here? Then who's upvoting your comments?
They ARE defending the use of both... You can litterally pick any 1 person who posted on this thread defending instadowns, and I can show you their post on the other thread showing how they also defended deadhard. Im not "argueing" against you, because theres nothing to argue here. Im just pointing out that you had a strawman in your head when you made your initial post about "hypocrite babies" because not 1 single person who posted to THIS thread matches your description.

And in this thread "other than me" implies at least one person, which is enough to validate my response
I said all the ppl in this thread that defended instadowns also defended dead hard. My saying other than me was pointing out the fact that im the only one youve been quoting HERE. You didnt validate anything at all.

Which person talking in this thread are you even referring to? You havent quoted a single person in this thread other than me, lol.

Ppl were definitely being sarcastic, but my comment stands. Litterally not 1 person who commented on this thread saying instadowns are ok, or posted sarcastically about instadowns...didnt ALSO post on the other thread defending the use of deadhard. Of the 3 pages...not 1 person.
