Let me help you.
BHVR: BBQ & Chilli is a perk used in over 80% of the games in red ranks and rewarded killers for minimal effort, resulting in frustration for the survivors. To remedy this issue, we decided to alter the aura reading ability, to reveal the killer to the survivors after they hook someone.
Perfect, lets ship it

Do the regular exhaustion perks have iFrames? When I read Sprint Burst, I don’t attempt to attack at all.
Just like Dead Hard.
They dont, which is why you can still hit someone with a hatchet for example.

Breakdown is the power of the entity allowing the survivor to break the hook.
Survivors have infinite stamina and can't die from falling from heights. They can also perform physical abilities such as vaulting and repairing generators without possessing the body/knowledge to do so before.
And also the Entity blocks the killer from following survivors beyond the exit gates.
The entity helps the survivors too
Breakdown isnt the work of the entity, its just Jeff in desprite need of a salad.

That sometimes even happen to me without sprintburst, just a regular hit that get phantomsawed... I lost alot of chases and kills because of that. Thats why I just play billy now for dailys or when I am bored just 1 game. Its really annoying and that bug exists for ######### years.
But lets nerf ruin! We have some prioraties right? ;)
Same goes to spirit and wraith lunge bugs and sound bugs where survivors dont moan or have no footstebs or are silent while they are slugged.
Those lunge bugs are actually getting addressed with the next update.
-
The entity offers hope, but never actively aids.

OP and @LordGlint
I was thinking Boil Over should be a perk that makes the killer take longer to hook you (which can waste valuable time).
Boil Over
You wiggle 30%/25%/20% slower than normal.
When in the killer's grasp, all hooks within 32 meters from where you was picked up at are blocked by the Entity and their auras cannot be seen by the killer.
This will guarantee it takes the killer approximately 9 seconds to reach a hook, but to balance this out, it also takes you 20 seconds to wiggle free. Combine this with Flip-flop to give you 50% free wiggle progress (fully recovered), and this can be very nasty (the killer has 1 second of leeway.
@hysteria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/993476#Comment_993476
dang, i really like your suggestion. although the reduced wiggle speed made me cringe lol
my idea was something like this
Boil Over:
If a killer picks you up within 3m of a hook, that hook is instantly destroyed by The Entity.
Hook auras are obscured within a range of 36 meters.
Within a 12/14/16 meter range of a hook, your wiggle speed is increased by 3%.
this could be overkill, but:
After escaping the killer's grasp, the audible grunt is silenced completely.
how's that?
Since when is the entity AIDING the survivors during the trials?

It's been like this ever since I can remember, unfortunately. Better to just wait out the speed boost. My theory is that it takes a split second for the game to register the hit, you wouldn't notice this delay when the survivor is moving at normal speed, but during a sprint burst they actually run ahead of the hitbox by the time the hit registers

What @Accullla said, exhaustion perks always cancelled his saw for no reason
Thats dumb...
Anyway to fix this @Peanits ?
-
@TAG said:
Is this kinda like when the Pig ambushes and manages to connect, but it doesn't actually connect and just misses anyways?
Billy will either swing his saw when you let go of the button, or hit a survivor. When he does the "phantom swing" however, he stops charging and swings the saw, even if your still holding the button and no dmg gets done.

i mean, that would be a waste. they can keep a perk they already have and completely rework it instead of creating a whole new one. and i'd rather not have a perk like that.
imagine if boil over became s tier lol
I just remember what they did to Bill's perk Left Behind. The perk was pretty much worthless after the EGC change, so they eventually changed its effect entirely. If they were gonna give it any attention, Id see them doing something similar. Boil Over's premise however is too much for them tojust crank up its effect. Killers need to have a fair chance at getting you to a hook after winning the chase. If a survivor team wants to body block/sabo and maybe use breakout...that takes coordinated effort. Strapping on Boil Over though is way too passive of an effort for it to have too strong of an effect.
-
@hysteria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/993416#Comment_993416
that's not my point. i'm saying that the perk needs to be reworked because its effects are so weak and they have no use at all.
Feel like the effect would have to be something else entirely then. Like I said, theyre not going to make a perk that can reliably get you off the killer's shoulders unconditionally. They could give it a different effect, but at that point...they might as well just make a different perk instead.

Go up against some rank 1-2 killers playing meta builds on killers like freddy or spirit, and you will be wishing you could rush the gens even faster.
Most killers who complain about gen rushing are just focusing one guy the entire match instead of spreading the damage, which is how you should be playing.
This is what gen rushing actually is, by the way:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/620/PAUQWHB7IKC1.png
Unless the survivors you are facing are rocking a build like this, you are probably just not applying enough pressure.
Kept this screenshot around to show...some ppl DO bring stuff like that. This was the morning before the BL change and these guys brought me to Haddonfield, lol.
-
A killer SHOULD be able to get you to a hook unless your teammates can block for you or something. Equipping a perk shouldnt make you immune to hooks, or even close to it. If the perk was able to reliably let you escape the killer's grasp...it would be OP.

Ive been jumping around to different killers. I have MAYBE 2 weeks practice will Billy now. Its not that I feel reliant on it, just dont really feel like I need anything else atm. Ive been playing pretty aggressive with him and dont spend much time kicking gens.

Legion is a whole different beast. When employees at BHVR get frustrated or angry they have a special room with one of those blow up "punch em dolls" that they beat up and hurl insults towards.
Im now just picturing 4 punch em dolls that look like the 4 members of Legion.

BHVR - The aura reading of BBQ rewarded killers without much effort and survivors found this frustrating. To remedy this we have removed the aura reading ability from BBQ.
After all "its just for BP" as we hear oh so often.
That doesnt sound like behavior at all. The solution to BBQs aura reading would be "removed aura reading from ALL killer perks/addons. Jk, was just remembering their response to legion's knife addons.

Thats what I thought thanks. Why monitor tho?
Monitor lowers your TR while not in chase, but boosts it while in chase. This means with Oni... he'll be able to get closer abit easier to land those normal hits needed to get his power, but when hes using his power and 1 shotting ppl...his TR will be 40 meters, making infectous fright show you anyones location within 40 meters of you instead of the normal 32.

Like the title says, what are your opinions on freddy's viability in red ranks without ruin?I myself have been doing pretty good with no addons, corrupt thrilling pop and enduring/any other perk(preferably slowdown/chase perk like bamboozle).
Leave your opinions down below,if you think he should get nerfed, what kind of position he is atm,and is he viable.
And if you want leave your favorite builds for him(That will be good after 3.5.0,so no ruin or ruin but some other perk combo together with ruin)
This has been my preferred build ever since surge was released.

Although am liking the sound of Infectious Fright, if it does work with the Club!

Infectious Fright does not work on his club hits? You sure? Im about to level him up and I heard infectious is really good in him?
Infectious fright works on ANY downs. You can pull someone out of a locker, have someone accidentally forget to mend after getting hit with BT, ect...and infectious fright will proc.
Infectious fright is actually really handy on ANY instadown killers, including Oni. Pairing it with monitor just makes it even better.

I know this seems like an easy answer which is no, but hear me out. I just watched Otz's newest video (The forbidden Legion Technique) and at the timestamp of 3:03 to 3:07 you can see he is running, Thrilling Tremors, Thantaphobia, Surge, and PGTW, but during this same time frame his pop has around 30 seconds left then at the 3:07 time he downs the Yui and Surge applies to the gens within 32 meters but his pop expires as if it was also applied. So im wondering if that is a bug or if it is actually intended.
Watched the video, its not SUPPOSE to work like that. That was one of the biggies I was thinking of (as well as many others) when surge was originally released. I'd just chalk it up to it being a bug that wont be around for long. Not sure if that Pop actually got USED or if the timer was simply ended early.

Guys remember that I did say at the end that they are changing the 3s cooldown
Cant gauge how strong he is if theyre gonna change him anyway. If ppls annoyance when playing him for example is the 3 second cooldown, you cant tell them "dont talk about that though, cuz itll change anyway" when no one knows what itll change to.
Personally...the change to snap out of it seemed kinda odd. They kinda newbie proofed it by minimizing the penalty if you miss a snap out of it skillcheck, which is huge and hard to miss to begin with. It now also puts you back to T1 madness, which kills some of his addons that dont gain use until T2.

What i have read is that they are gonna hide the ranks on the scoring board, so my guess is that they are getting rid of ranks.
And reading the part of the ruin chance where they say, when Newbies trying to help vetran players, makes me think more they gonna do that.
Makes more sense about the ruin chance
Makes sense really. If ranks arnt gonna be shown and they keep getting all mixed up in matchmaking anyway...whats the point of having ranks appear in the game?

They break it a lot. I rarely get games to match my rank on either side.
Im just saying...I can understand ppls frustration at this point. If it was a new issue, ok...abit of patience...they'll fix it. Just speaking of how the game currently works. Keep getting newbies that wanna play with their friends thatve been playing for awhile... Next thing I know, theres a Claudette trying to selfcare behind a rock in the corner of the map. I always just sigh when I hear the moaning.

@Endstille said:
How do you expect anybody to believe your story that ruin killed fun for your friends? Lmao
Ruin kills fun but not being camped/tunneled ok, then. 🤣 Also ruin is more likely to appear in redranks, where it was used in 80% of matches in the low ranks, where your friends probably were, killers rarely use it cause they do not have it.
this is assuming his friends werent pulled into red rank games from SWFs
-
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/992594#Comment_992594
Yes, the game is balanced for low ranks. That's literally the problem everyone is complaining about and why people are upset and what all the backlash is.
What do you think happens when those new players aren't so new anymore and start seeing the cracks in the system?
It's not solely a matchmaking issue. Hell, I almost doubt it's a matchmaking issue. Not like the devs would admit that matchmaking is borked because players are leaving when they apparently are too reluctant to admit that 80% of people ran ruin because gens go too fast.
Would be interesting to see how much of the player base is at what rank. If ya cut out ppl who only play one side or another every once in a blue moon (10% or less), could be interesting to see just how many more red rank survivors there are than red rank killers and such.
-
@Liruliniel said:

I think it's more about the fact Killer players want to sit down and enjoy the game too. Kinda hard to do when the one perk that made it so you wont have to sweat every game or helps balance out the Map RNG was basically just destroyed. Nothing like telling a player to get better when they have bad map design and lose a gen or 2 by walking across the map to apply the pressure.
It's also gave a massive message to killers basically saying "was too hard and unfun for survivors to deal with" which is not exactly a good business plan.
It's not like you can't play without Ruin killers do it on a regular basis. Well most do just a few DC when it gets destroyed.
Either way long run this will just increase survivor que times. Not sure by how much, but imma guess it's going to be noticable.
Feel like this might also result in abit less diversity of the killers seen. If 2 gens get popped before you can cross the map as Clown as opposed to Billy... you're more likely to see even more Billys and less Clowns. Personally... its complete coincidence that I started practicing Billy at about the same time that the ruin change was announced.

Do you know what happens when the veteran killers leave because why would they bother playing a game that's not balanced for them, isn't fun, and is intentionally catered to a more casual audience.
They leave.
Then survivors wait 10~15 minutes for a queue, then this happens and the game is over in 5 minutes:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/168/Z001R3FSA9UI.png
Do you know what happens when new and casual killers leave because they're being constantly matched up against veteran survivor players, have absolutely no chance of winning?
They leave.
Can you guess what will happen next?
After you answer that yourself, ask yourself this: Do you think the casuals are going to stick around and buy things in a game where they can't get into matches because nobody wants to play killer because, surprise, the role sucks to play?
Believe me, I know it's a move for money. The issue is that it's a ridiculously short-sighted andf stupid plan and the veteran players are not stupid, they can smell this a mile away (you can even read the language in the developer notes -- it's literally plastered with survivor bias and that's not just opinion, you can read it yourself) and it's going to backfire spectacularly in the long run if they go through with it.
Was chatting with my GF earlier cuz she hopped on for abit last night. If I remember right, shes about rank 9 on survivor and rank 17 killer, lol. She said that as a solo q survivor, was taking like 15-20 minutes to find a game, which was the only reason she played so many killer games last night...cuz shed find one in 1 minute. She's about as casual of a gamer as you can get, while I'm the more competitive one...but she also added in that she stopped having an issue with ruin awhile ago. She finally stopped searching the map for the totem, hallelujah, lol.

Just curious what anyone is calling a review bomb since the negative reviews are pretty much inline with the number of negative reviews any other month...

I see Bubba and Hillbilly as night and day, whether playing as them or against them. There is no real comparison other than they both use chainsaws and can one hit a person. lol Bubba needs some love to make him more versatile so he doesn't have to stand by a hook just to use his ability.
Edit: And I know he doesn't HAVE to stand by a hook. He can use it out and about and still down a person but what makes it special is that it can down more than one person yet that opportunity is super rare unless he's camping. Let's just be real.
On the bright side... No one dares "hook tech" a Bubba, lol.

They both could use some attention to their addons, but pretty sure only Bubba needs any attention to his actual basekit.

Uh...no they aren't. I mean, they both have an instadown chainsaw...but they work completely differently, lol
The usage of chainsaws have alot more in common though. Both result in a charge forward after a brief charge time that can instadown someone, or break pallets faster.

Old Freddy with old "class photo" and the add-on that increase the sleeping range power (can't remember it's name) was the best strongest thing ever. Even more then anything new Freddy has now. Had so much fun with that build and devour hope combined together
And cause of Freddy many weaknesses or flaws it was pretty fair.
Thats actually exactly the addons I was using, lol. I was using coldwind farm map offerings because I liked using him on rotten fields. Being able to sweep the beam across the corn...bliss.
-
Dont be sayin all that when Im just now getting halfway decent with Billy.

Just recently started using this after getting it off the shrine. Its nice being able to go for saves that would NORMALLY be death sentences. Recently got basement hooked along with 2 of my teammates against a Bubba, only to manage to kobe off and BT save my teammates to keep the game alive, lol.

Honestly, when a game can end in 6 minutes or less with low tier killers I personally tend to question my opponents' skill rather than thinking I outplayed good survivors, but that's me.
What I'm saying is coming from a scenario in which you are actually playing against a good team. Judging by my own experience playing every killer and not just the top tier, I have difficulties seeing that happening, it may be possible, but extremely rare, unless you are playing killers like Oni, Billy or Nurse.
or Bubba
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeInSY1Khnw -
Depends on the killer. I use to have it on my Myers, but I've been playing around with my builds with him alot. Its still a mainstay on my Huntress though.
