  • I'm sure it'll come back. Bill's outfit came back, and that was the last bit of uncertainty in my eyes, imo.

Right now they seem to be around tome 8-9 in their rerelease schedule, so I'd wager she's somewhere in the relatively near future.

In addition Feng is a gamer girl. It makes sense she would cosplay as her favorite video game characters. I get it though and am not a huge fan but I would be more frustrated if they decided to start doing cosplays for Meg, or Mikaela or Felix (Outside the AOT ones) because at least Feng makes some sense.

That's the Watsonian interpretation. The Doylist one is that Feng skins sell like hotcakes, so they're going two-for-the-price-of-one by creating outfit assets for one character, making minor edits, and then selling the same thing on Feng for more money.

If they were giving them to Meg or Mikaela, it'd be less of a cash grab (although those are still characters that sell really well.)

    @Cybil said:

Not a fan, but at least the Princess Heart cosmetic looks like an actual cosplay and not Feng stealing Cheryl's clothes.

I did notice that with the headphones and the boots, but for me, that's like praising a kid for using proper punctuation when they hand in an essay that's just "This is an essay." repeated 200 times. It's still zero-effort content.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

I don't like these cosmetics, because it's basically saying these characters are video game characters to feng and not alternate universes.

That's actually established already in some of the archive lore, where the Trapper is a popular fictional character in one universe, and storytellers like Mikaela gain inspiration for their tales through the echoes of other worlds.

Can't say I'm fond of it, though. I think using alternate universes like that heavily cheapens lore if it's not well handled. I liked it a lot more when you could just point to a character and say "this is who they are" without a million permutations and maybes.

It hasn't been like this for years, I still have cakes from the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th anniversary events I can use.

It's being brought up because it's outdated. I have 428 rods that I can't use. That's 856,000 blood points that have been wasted. If you don't have an issue with it that's absolutely fine, but don't act surprised some people don't share your opinion.

It's been like this ever since they shifted away from Pustula Petals as the Halloween offering. Or even older with the BBQ event invitations.

I think I'd care more if there wasn't already a huge precedent of me never, ever using 3/4 of the crap the bloodweb makes me buy anyway.

Like, yeah, it would be better if they made all Halloween events use the same offering and I don't know why they stopped doing that, but realistically you're never going to manage to use more of them than you get back. There's always going to be an element of wastefulness here.

Having 1 as a souvenir I understand, but when you have over 400 it's quite annoying.

And the 'they haven't done it in the past so it doesn't matter' argument is completely missing the point. They never had bots in the past either, but hey, you innovate and improve right?

They did innovate this year by reshuffling all bloodwebs as soon as the event ended (and if you purchase event items still in the bloodweb, they don't get added to your account and you get a refund.) Which I'm a little :| with, because I set mine up so I could grab some more halloween flashies and medkits after the fact and now I can't.

I would be very annoyed if they took away my old offerings and gave me bloodpoints for it. Can't please everyone.

  • Am I the only person who doesn't really mind this?

I like having old souvenirs, and having useless dowsing rods is no different to me than having useless faint reagents or bloodied blueprints. I never touch most offerings anyway, so it's just kinda... shrug.

Don't know why people expected anything different. They've never recompensated old event offerings.

  • For killer: Tricky call. Depends on the killer. On an M1, STBFL. On anyone else, probably Pain Resonance or Discordance.

For survivor: Off the Record. I'd like to say something else, and I'm a huge fan of perks like Desperate Measures or Windows, but survivor simply isn't playable without the tunneling protection.

  • I really enjoyed it; it was a great event. The cosmetic obtainment method was probably the most balanced yet and didn't really favor survivors or killers (where previous means have been very killer-favored and demanding of survivors), and the cosmetics we got were cute, especially the candy weapons. Swamp Creature Hag was awesome. The rifts encouraged good gameplay for the most part and were a nice distraction without being too much slowdown. I loved all the bonus bloodpoints we got and it made the game feel very rewarding - I'm not looking forward to going back to normal now.

Trust me, I've tried to look for Dies Irae in Ghost Face's theme. It's just not there.

Listen to the very start of it again. It's six notes instead of four, but the first two and the last two are the leitmotif.

  • I'm very relieved that this is what they're doing. Cycling cosmetics are way, way better than having once-and-gone-forever ones. Though I'm still nervous they may change their mind in the future (the Deep Rift, after all, indicates an interest in returning to true exclusives.)

Still, given that this is the result, I'm willing to admit I was overreacting when this stuff was first announced. Though that might have been mitigated by BHVR being transparent instead of waiting until the eleventh hour. >_>

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

I mean, you say yourself that the point of the PTB is testing stuff. Testing blatantly busted stuff is also testing.

That said, I have no respect for people who play nurse on the PTB when there's no way they already have the new killer's perks on her.

Often I think PTB Nurses come out to explore the new map and check out its hitboxes. Same with Huntresses.

Doesn't mean I like seeing them, though. And the Clowns are just memelords.

  • While you're right about people being able to leave when other players sweat and create unfun games, people are also inclined to play more loosely in the PTB because the results don't matter - there's no bloodpoints (that last), no achievements, no MMR, and everyone is still kinda screwing around with new stuff so you don't get as much meta or people who've mastered what they're doing. People feel like they can afford to mess around and play casual because winning or losing affects nothing. I don't think there's really a way to change this on live, not without scuppering matchmaking (which would cause more problems.) And I also think it wouldn't stick nearly as much without the new-content hype that has people shirk core gameplay in favor of exploring it. Survivors are poking around the map instead of hammering gens, killers are trying to use their power successfully when a M1 smack would be much easier.

And some people are always going to take a competitive approach to gaming no matter what because that's what's fun to them. Nothing wrong with that. Same with trolling, unfortunately, except for the 'nothing wrong with that' part (because I do take an issue with those guys.) I've seen people suggest separate queues or modes, but you will always have trolls and sweats entering the casual queue because they want easy prey. Those models work off good faith, which just doesn't exist on a macro scale... and for that reason, having your queue be dictated by other players rating you is just as exploitable in the other direction.

As for DCs themselves... yeah, it's nice to be able to just leave a match when your opponent is being a dick. But they absolutely can't be made a free action, because too many players' idea of fun is restricted to "I am winning" and they will bail whenever that isn't happening. And that makes playing the game impossible for anyone else - especially for SWFs and people using items, perks, map offerings, and killers that are controversial or meta. Seriously, every time the DC penalty gets turned off, the game turns into a hellscape in very short order. It doesn't matter as much in the PTB because again, the results don't matter and the goal isn't to win, it's to check out new content. It's easier to hit that sweet spot where everyone is feeling casual. On live, letting people bail freely is a recipe for misery and selfishness.

  • Eh. I was always skeptical about the rumors of a For Honor crossover because while you can question how much Resident Evil is a true horror experience, or even Attack on Titan (which was just a cosmetic crossover)... For Honor has nothing to do with the horror genre at all. Even if there are fitting characters for the role, DBD might as well get new survivor Master Chief and new killer Sans Undertale if they're going to reach that wide for their crossover material. You get me? There's a difference between being the Smash Bros of horror and just being Smash Bros.

  • Hm, is it? I can't remember what his theme is and I've already taken off the PTB.

Though I can find Dies Irae in Ghostface's theme. They add two more notes in the middle of it, but it's there.

  • Interesting. Personally I think the downside would be negated enough by just Oblivious - I see why Blindness is there, but I think it should at least have an exception for hooked survivors.

I think increasing the range at which killer sounds are heard may be more important than increasing the volume. But that's a pretty neat idea for a perk!

  • I wondered the same thing. The whole "he takes clothes from other survivors" explanation is a bit weak... hopefully he gets some more legitimate renaissance outfits released.

Like, it'd be one thing if the execution had been flawed and some modern design had slipped in there, but they didn't even try to make him look like he's from the 1300s.

  • I just booted up the game and I'm already going 3 for 4 with a player ragequitting. (And the game where nobody quit still sucked because it was an Eruption-Overcharge-Pain Res Legion.)

  • Artist isn't an easy killer to play effectively. Sure, sending birds at gens is braindead, but she has to think several seconds in advance for everything she does in chase, and that timing varies depending on how many birds she's going to set up (and plans will be changed or negated by the survivor's movements on a dime.) Even setting up a crow at a pallet requires good timing to work... unless the survivor stays at the loop, but if you don't leave the loop after she's started setting up, that's on you.

Her power can usually be countered by just running off in a random direction and making her waste time. Don't be predictable, don't run in straight lines while she's setting up birds, and in a pinch, you can use lockers to get rid of crows.

  • It definitely wouldn't be too much. If anything, it's not enough to help him. He barely has a power in endgame. The only other killer who can end up in a state where he runs out of his power is Myers, and he's not exactly in great shape either.

  • Oh, that is long overdue. Now I might even consider following survivors into that building.

Seriously, the eyestrain was a nightmare. I'm glad they fixed this.

Dredge and Myers today. More first down DCs. Still think this is justified?

  • I wish they'd let us vote for outfits individually instead of putting them in sets. Meg and Trickster didn't need the love, Yun-Jin/Adam/Dredge/Billy did.

  • Huh. That's not what I was expecting out of the Knight's power at all.

Survivor looks like Jonah and Felix's dad. I'm really digging those tattoos... and I'm hoping that this might mean we're getting a survivor that isn't from the modern era. Guess I'll find out as soon as I boot up the PTB!

I’ve hit a point where I’m so fed up with the map design of DBD that I get genuinely happy when it’s Eyrie because for as much as Eyrie sucks, it could have been a whole number of worse maps instead. Could’ve been Gideon’s, or Badham, or Garden, or Haddonfield, or Cowshed, or—okay, you get the idea.

I think when Eyrie of Crows is one of the BETTER maps in your game you need to seriously sit down and have a think.

This, wholeheartedly. I don't even mind Eyrie except for when I'm playing Myers or Ghostface because as bad as it is, it could be so much worse.

Garden of Pain is an unholy mess. Broken hitboxes that screw over every chainsaw, bump, and ranged killer, a fairly central main building that is the most broken abomination to ever darken the doorstop of 2022 DBD, strong loops everywhere, pallets even more everywhere, lighting issues that render parts of the map pitch black. It's very pretty and that is the only thing I can say in its favor.

    @sulaiman said:

Actually, i like the map as killer, but i play mostly dredge and hag, which both can capitalize on it.

I would think Hag would suffer on this map because it's so big and the gen spread is pretty wide, even if she can make good use out of the main building. It was made with Dredge in mind, though, so it does have that going for it.

  • @hiken said:

people wont stay to play against killers who lack counterplay and are unfun, is normal they will leave. if they leave for whatever other reason is what it is just suck it and call the killer to also kill you is what i do.

This is straight bullshit unless you believe that no killer in the game has counterplay or is fun to play against. I've had people bail on every single killer and every single map, no matter how favorable the game looked for survivors.

People are selfish and flip tables when they get caught first. That's pretty much all there is to it. I can understand a little more with people quitting on Nurse or Legion, but yesterday I was playing Ghostface and Artist and got ragequits on more than half my games. So unless you're saying they lack counterplay...

i dont see how they leaving affects you in any way is them getting penalization, not you.

They leave you in an early 3v1 which is boring for the killer and near-unwinnable for the survivors. If they were your teammate, you're probably going to depip, and you've wasted your items and offering. You are very much affected by their decision to bail.

There was a ragequitter in over half my games today. Only one DC, but a ton of first hook suicides. I was nice and farmed it out with the other survivors, but damn if that wasn't starting to get old by the end of the night.

  • They can't add voice comms because they have no way of moderating the tidal wave of toxicity and harassment that would follow - they don't have match logs, after all.

They can't tell killers a SWF is in the lobby because most killers would dodge or equip megasweat builds that your average casual friend group can't handle, and those players would grow to hate the game.

And they can't prevent SWF because it'd turn away a huge portion of their playerbase.

I've always said they needed to buff solo and then buff killers to match. They just buffed killers, so now I'm waiting on the solo queue QOL to follow up on that. Icons to show what every player is doing would be a great start. Nothing will ever match true comms, but a scroll wheel with preset lines (and a cooldown so players can't spam at each other) would help very well for being able to call when you're going for the save or tell your teammates your intentions (like if someone is self-caring, being able to say "I Have Botany Knowledge" would be a much more effective way of getting them to stop than just tbagging and spamming emotes.)

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

I think (not 100% sure) power struggle counts towards it so that could help.

It does, but Power Struggle is fairly difficult to pull off outside of indoor maps, so I wouldn't rely on it too hard unless you're going the full mile with Flip-Flop and Tenacity.

Windows would probably be a solid perk choice to help with the challenge.

Luckily she got a pretty banger outfit last rift, so I'm not left hungering for a new Mikaela cosmetic. And the deep rift version of her hair is cool, at least. But that antique Adam set is absolutely delightful (and some really necessary food for Adam mains), and I really like the Meg outfit as well despite OG characters being totally overrepresented in the rift.

  • It's pretty annoying. Around half the killers on the roster are a bad idea to even try with, as they're very dangerous to try playing around pallets with.

Personally, I would wait for an M1 killer and then just camp pallets. Even for killers that hardcore respect pallets, you can force a stun by letting them attack you under the pallet and then dropping it on top of them. Wasteful move, but it gets the challenge done. Bring a medkit to make sure you can be healthy on will.

    50% does seem ok though.

I often see myself reduced to 1/4 infection when I was around 1/2, but when I have significantly more than that, it goes back to 1/2.

It always seems to go to 1/4 or 1/2, with no percentages in between.

    ?????????????

you do know these duos are BASCIALL USELESS, doing nothing but going down RIGHT?

I've seen some use it to decent effect and occupy the killer for a while.

They're less useless than Elodies who go through every single chest on the map twice or bodyblock squads who think landing two healthy people on the floor for one wiggle off is a good trade.

Saying players should be reportable for engaging in gameplay is pretty crazy.

  • By this logic, anything other than gen jockeying should be reportable. Going for flashlight plays? Reportable. Chest goblin? Reportable. Doing bones? Reportable. Just being kinda bad in general? Reportable.

If the survivor's not actively trying to sandbag their teammates, or doing literal nothing, it's aboveboard.

  • Yeah, it goes down to about half of what it was before you get hooked. Been like that since the PTB. It's an anti-tunneling mechanic of middling effectiveness at best.

  • Devout is currently bugged and won't reward you for a 4k - the max you can get is gold, and you'll often have silver when you were supposed to have gold.

But thank you for sparing me the scavenger hunt!

  • That's a good question.

On the one hand, it is kinda busted and it's inconsistent with nearly every other method of damage in the game (I think Trapper's injure-when-disarming traps are the same, and so is For The People, but neither of those are half as direct as Plague following you around puking on you), but on the other, you can waste a ton of Plague's time if she tries to puke on you instead of M1ing you by using structures or just spinning in circles and messing with her FOV. You can usually force her to smack you or eat enough of her time that she may as well have M1ed you from the start, so I've never been too bothered by this.

I'm absolutely biased on having a reason to want to keep it, though.

"Nurse is a strongest free killer" should not be an excuse for developers to make more and more licensed (pay only) stuff in the game.

I'm absolutely ok with perks and outfits. I'm even ok with killers being obtain only through real money, but don't you see what is happening?

More and more licensed characters are being released, I feel like in the near future we'll have more "Pay to play" stuff in this game, than a free... And it's not ok in a game, which you already have to buy.

The reason they keep making licensed killers is because there's a massive demand for them, both from the existing playerbase and the potential playerbase that may join the game from crossover. They should absolutely keep making more licensed killers - it is a win all around.

As it stands, all of the strongest killers in the game are original - Nurse, Huntress, Blight, Artist, Spirit, Hag, Plague, Oni. Tons of different playstyles are contained in that spread. This is not an issue.

The topic is about specific characters though, not perks.

The OP does bring up perks, though... and I would still disagree that the game is PTW from that angle. A ton of survivor meta perks are available from the start - Dead Hard, Adrenaline, Sprint Burst, Unbreakable, Borrowed Time, Prove Thyself.

With killer, it's a bit less so, but you still start out with Sloppy, Jolt, Tinkerer, Nurse's Calling, and NOED. More than that, I also don't consider any characters that can be bought with shards to be behind a paywall. I have all the characters, and the only original DLC I purchased was Demise of the Faithful. So for perks like Pain Resonance, Corrupt Intervention, Off the Record, Circle of Healing... they're not paywalled. Getting all of them is a daunting task, but ID'ing which one you want most and beelining for that character isn't prohibitive at all.

Yes, they're not all available from the start, but that's true of most games. You unlock stuff as time goes on. As for having to pay to access licensed characters - no, it's not ideal, but they can't make that stuff free without bleeding money. I'd rather have a BHVR that stays fiscally afloat than a game that's a free for all but crashes and burns within six months.

Yes, I am sure this is try, I even tested it on my original account before moving to PC. Also, I have a lot of hours dumped into Billy, Ive experimented with all of his addons and it is legitimately one of his worst addons, debatably just as bad as Speed Limiter.

Damn. That sucks. If anything, that feels like something that should be brought up in Suggestions with the obvious alternative presented, because having an addon lower the killer's hitbox is just baffling.

Then again, all of Billy's addons seem to be designed with an overly punitive design philosophy in mind... he's not allowed to have anything nice without taking something away from him in turn.

    Haddonfield.

Except two buildings with strong windows this map is usually pretty unstacked and survivors can't do much besides holding W into nothing.

You will never see Badham in usual map rotation unless you bring a map offering. Those maps have a chance of like less than 1% each.

Game is survivor sided only against certain killers. It's pretty much killer sided against Nurse and stealth killers.

Garden of Joy is survivor sided, yes.

Eyrie is balanced, cuz there is ALWAYS a 3gen around main building. I got a 4 k with Bubba there literally yesterday with first hook at 2 gens left (but 3 of them were in/around main building...)

RPD is not survivor sided against stealth killers.

Cowshed, Gas Heaven and Groaning Storehouse are pretty survivor sided, yes. Groaning Storehouse is very RNG dependend however and can be balanced or even killer sided if you only get pallet gyms, 4 lanes, TLs and new crap tiles.

Ironworks, Mother's Dwelling and Grey Panties (if survivors know how to play it) are other survivor sided maps.

Sanctum of Wrath is killer sided. Every map is Nurse sided except Lery's and RPD.

However. Even on most survivor sided maps I've seen such crap door spawns, with literally 0 chance of winning if killer knows how to play door game properly.

Haddonfield is not killer sided. It's hard to classify because it contains elements that are bad for both sides, but it has a guaranteed infinite and another extremely strong window loop in main.

Badham appears just as much as any realm. I've gotten it twice in the last five matches with no map offerings used.

The Game is not killer sided vs stealth killers. It's not as strong as Midwich or RPD for sneaking around corners and difficulty seeing, and no stealth killer has an antiloop power that works against the metric ton of pallets and unmindgameable loops. Wraith with his fast break addon, maybe. But Myers, Sadako, Ghostface, Pig? They're all in agony here. The only killers that like this map are Nurse (because Nurse), Hag and Doctor (small size works with their powers well), and Nemesis and Bubba (because they easily quickbreak pallets and there's virtually no windows here.) Artist is okay because there's several loops where she can trap survivors, but the two-story nature of the map doesn't work in her favor.

Eyrie having a gen cluster around the main building and a deficit on the other side doesn't balance out the sheer immensity of pallets it contains.

Stealth killers are strong on RPD but still weak to pallets and the sheer size of the map. Sadako and Wraith are better off because they have mobility and Pig benefits because of the box spread - I don't think Myers is great here because it's so easy for survivors to W away from him for the entire duration of T3. Same with Ghostface. It's also one of the absolute worst maps for ranged killers and Billy.

I'll accept Sanctum being killer-sided, but in that case I'd add that Family Residence is survivor-sided due to the gen split, because that's what makes Sanctum so favorable for killers.

As for the last point... hm. I do think it's a bit dumb when doors spawn right next to each other, yeah. But I'm fine with the door game being random and occasionally unwinnable because to reach that point in the match, survivors have to have essentially lost. Doors being close together doesn't matter nearly as much if more than one survivor is alive, to the point of being pretty much worthless if all four are up.

It USED to make a ton more loops playable using curving. These days a lot of newer maps and tiles have just the most bizarre geometry and tend to catch the saw with their forcefields.

Have you watched a Hillbilly try to play Hillbilly (as opposed to M1lly) on Eyrie of Crows?

    Saddest thing I've ever seen.

God, I can't unsee that clip of a survivor standing next to one of those low Eyrie rubble tiles, a Billy zooming towards him from across the map, and the survivor calmly watching as Billy slams face first into an invisible wall.

Garden of Suck isn't any better.

The reduced Collision Zone width means that you are less likely to collide with objects, but because it is reducing the Collision Zone width, you are less likely to hit survivors as well. It's not really that good of an addon due to the downside of it. I would recommend running Shadowborn so you avoid hitting off-screen objects since you can see more and avoid objects with large hitboxes.

Are we sure this is true? Some of the recent data on Wesker when they were tuning his hitbox showed that they have a separate hitbox for environmental objects and for survivors, and that they're not necessarily the same size.

  • All the time. It feels wrong to walk out when there's someone still on hook. I had someone write me a really nice message today because of it.

Only time I won't do it is if they did something to aggravate me that match, them getting caught at the end was totally their own fault (you bag at the gates, I'm not responsible for what happens next), or if I have a challenge to escape and I'm getting desperate.

Dying to let someone else get out is a win in my books.
