Yeah, I don't know in what world playing tiles correctly vs many killers in the game is less skillful than either pressing e at a pallet and hoping the killer doesn't have good timing or hoping the killer loses patience when not at a pallet. Anything that's telegraphed is easy to react to besides blight with dh as well. With both my own games and all of the content I watch on both sides, I can count on one hand how many times I have seen a really skilled dh play since 6.1.0.
I can observe skilled dh play in every game with my friends (some of them playing this game competitively).
But sure. Some people can continue living in a bubble and think that a completely random win on a 50/50% pallet / TL is more related to skill then pressing E when killer does not expect this.
I assume in this bubble a comfy jungle gym is always available as well. Even when you do a generator in a dead zone area or have a high mobility killer on your butt.
-
No thank you. I dont even need voice comms everytime I play with friends. I dont need randoms to insult me for finishing the last gen instead of saving them before struggle on top of this.

- dh vs blight is over rated and spirit can wait it out like any other killer.
- After waiting out dh for the 90000th time it just gets boring and tedious to play against.
You know what's more interactive and skillful than dh? Normal chase in general.
I had normal chases for five years and I strongly disagree.
Ofc spirit can wait it out like any other killer but since it's a 110% killer it is more punishing for her and DHs against Spirit are actually easier than against a Trapper.
Against good Blights DH is the only thing that can keep you alive for a decent ammount of time and give you the chance to transition to another loop. Normal spins won't do this.

Exactly, all your points related to pain res are correct and very easy to understand, however in the video you sent he cleary states he considers pain res to be OP, which makes me consider he has not a very good knowledge of how the pace of the game works (at least nowadays), so I will take his reactions with a very big grain of salt.
I dont think that OhTofu said Pain Res is OP. He said that it's still a good perk. And idk.... I guess it's okay. But it wasnt my favouite slowdown perk anyway.
-
We had a 68% kill rate last year. Even with the new HUD update and eruption nerf I highly doubt that it came anywhere close to 50% which would be a balanced and fair game.
But Devs already said that 50% is not enough for them. And the crying killer main community will continue crying even with kill rates above 80%.
I dont even wanna to imagine what a bad experience for new players it is to come to this game and to face sweaty tryhard killers after 100 hours of playing, when you are not even close to understand how this game works.
Let's be honest. Every survivor below 1000 hours is a bloody noob in this game and now BHVR makes their life even more harder.
This game definetely won't be fun for casuals anymore.

I do not face 4 man swfs all the time saying that would be foolish, but I manage to get 4ks often, however I do know its not due to my skill nor the killer I play, but because most of my opponents have no idea what is going on, if you let an addonless slinger without slowdown get a 4k you are objectively horrible at dbd.
Still you yourself said it, he manages to get a 90% killrate while reading chat and I do watch his stream from time to time enough to see that the moment he faces people who are not throwing he gets absolutelly clapped, nothing wrong with it, if you face good players without a good killer that is to be expected.
But you haven't still refuted the other arguments aside from just stating they are not valid without explaining, for one he trully believes new pain res is a good perk, new pain res is literally non-existant and if you argue its good it shows a lack of comprenhention on how slowdown works in dbd.
Tbh I dont care about Pain Res and it was on overrated perk imo.
It only workes fine if you are lucky with hooks or camp hooks and survivors are dumb enough to give you Pain Res right after each other. In most situations the time it took me to bring a surviver to a Scourged Hook was quite long so the slowdown effect without DMS was quite neglectible.

I'd rather get outplayed by head on / lithe / SB / overcome / smash hit than to be screwed by dh,
atleast it takes more skill to use those perks right than just pressing E to extend a chase,
It's funny since the opposite is right. You dont need any skill to use SB, Lithe or Balanced. Whereas DH requires some very accurate timing and guessing.

Survivor mains you got what you wanted.
Gen kick meta is gutted. Can't wait to see the next perk you blame for not getting 4e's every game. This patch is proportionally close in power loss for each side.
Not even close. Killers can easily switch to corrupt, sloppy deadlocck.
Changing base healing speed is like changing base movement speed of killers to 105/110% instead of 110/115. Or like to make M1 cooldown to 4 seconds instead of 2.7.

Yeah sorry tofu's opinions have always been really funny, for one he clasifies slinger as an S tier killer, when the cowboy id a koke to any semi-decent player. He also says killer is incredibly easy and that he win matches because of it but never actually sees that the survivors he is facing make a bunch of mistakes, even during his comp experience you can see him narrate plays that a player did for X reason and say a totally random thing because he doesn't understand it.
I respect tofu as a dedicated content creator for the game for a long time, but I do not take most of his opinions of balance seriously since he has shown time and time again to not be correct.
Edit: just watched the video and it was all I expected, with jewels such as "pain res chage was 10/10 it was OP",
Deathslinger was S tier when he was released. Small teror radius combined with quick aim ability was really strong.
Your other aspect isn't valid either.
Tofu is a killer main and manages to win 90% of his games while reading chat 50% of the time. Can you do the same? Do you have the same skill level?
The argument that his survivor opponents make mistakes is valid for everyone. Most survivors in this game are bad and make many mistakes.
Only entitled kiler mains in this forum face 4 man sweaty SWF teams with BNPs and ranger medkits every game.

If you need dead hard to ensure a long chase, you aren’t a good player. The game is full of strong tiles and pallets that waste a ton of the killer’s time.
Oh yea. Try to waste the time of a good blight or nurse. Or to consistently ensure a long chase when it comes to 50/50 on unsafe pallets or TLs.
Or the 80/20s on the new trash tiles.

This isn’t true at all. Survivors (competent ones) already push gens as hard as possible. This secret doomsday that’s being threatened has been in the game for years. It’s the same cognitive dissonance that says killers will stop tunneling with more incentives. In reality, killers will tunnel as long as it is the best strategy
Most competent survivors prefer interactive fun matches and being chased by the killer rather than just sitting on gens.
With dead hard removed and healings nerfed this aspect of the game will suffer considerably. In order to compensate this they will prefer to stay injured, bing toolboxes and smash the gens into adrenaline. That's what my friends and me are gonna do.
However, since most of the survivors are not competent at all they will just give killer free hits, try to heal and still die in the end at 4 or 5 gens.

Corrupt and Deadlock aren’t good enough. They’re best for tunneling and camping play styles, playing for hooks isn’t possible with just those two.
Okay, then I guess my 80% 4k rate with those perks is not real.
Or I should aim higher. My goal should be 95%.

The patch is a massive bump for soloq. Bond is already the best info perk for soloq and you throw on bot for the changes to mean nothing. But what is changed is the fact that the 3 gen bs is dead. The fact that with these changes its pushes hooks more. Those things are good for the game.
Hard tunneling even though DH is weaker so OTR should be used more and proxy camping is nerfed thanks to the regression perks taken out back not rewarding killers anywhere near the amount for camping with gen kick builds. The slowdown change for healing doesn't do anything for killer if they hard tunnel.
Your options are bring a perk. Literally it's one perk. one. whole. perk. slot.
Best info perk in solo q is Clairevoyance, not Bond. I run Bond in swf and its great to know where my friends are for perfect save timings against camping killers, to see them dropping pallets so I can avoid that area when I get chase or just sit on a gen in killer's terror radius without having to worry that he might catch you off guard as long as you can see your friend being chased nearby.
But Bond in solo q? It's just awful to watch the playstylle of average players who throw 2 god pallets and still manage to die within 30 seconds.
Camping got buffed, not nerfed with new patch. You can't unhook while injured against a camping killer. So survivors will have to heal. Unhooking is also the situaion where many casual survivors giive killes free hits which makes camping even more effective.

@Eelanos said:
Actually, I think it's the other way around. If the change is bad, what will most likely happen is 30 minutes queues for the most painful experience killers have ever had.
You see, nerfs like these hit the top %, yes, but they hit the mid and the bottom ten times harder. Considering a good chunk of players are casual SWFs and solo players, them getting absolutely obliterated at 4 or 5 gens for too many games in a row will probably make them abandon the game or switch to killer, meaning the queues will get even longer and every single game will be a sweatfest.
Chances are new killers will quickly leave as well after a couple of games waiting minutes upon minutes in queue just to get obliterated by competitive SWFs, meaning all the players that will remain are hype-competitive players on both sides.
That's the problem when you balance a game for the top of the top. You strangle your playerbase's numbers making your game impossible to approach as a new player.
I agree. This game is gonna be miserable for all those casual survivor players who arrive at home in the evening to have few chilling hours in an online game, alone or with their low level friends. They barely see an open exit door already now and after dying match after match multiple times in a row against auto mode killers these playerbase will just abandon dbd and rather go and play phasmophobia.

Considering the other perks got butchered in 6.1 and Pain Res is also getting slaughtered, people did in fact “rely” on those perks cause there was virtually nothing else to run.
Corrupt is still best killer perk in the game. Deadlock is still working fine. Sloppy will be overpowered with new update.
I play "weak" killers mostly (Bubba, Doctor, Demogorgon, Wesker, Knight) and I had no problems to 4k most of my matches without kicking gens half of the time.
-
The topic starter is right. In games with random players you literally see an open gate in one game out of 5.
That's the reason why 80% of survivor games I play with friends who all have several thousands hours in this game.
The few games in Solo Q I play with Sole Survivor, Wakeup, Clairevoyance meta and this build is validated as necessary in almost all matches.

jeez the entitlment is real, it's almost disgusting. please don't come back and play easier game, like really please.

soloq got a lots of qol changes like status info, basekit borrowed time, visual terror radius and you act like it never happened.
the only thing i disagree is the default speed of healing, all the other nerf for survivor is well deserved
Stop spreading false information please. Killers can still do fine just switching their perks. Corrupt, Lethal, Sloppy, Deadlock are still very very good perks.
If killers really relied on wallking around and kicking gens with eruption, CoB, overcharge then it was definetely a skill issue.

My build on most killers was Bamboozle, Corrupt, Call of Brine, Nowhere to hide.
I don't feel butchered at all at this aspect. I will just switch Calll of Brine and Nowhere to hide for Deadlock or Sloppy Butcher and still 4k 80% of my matches.
Or even more since with new healing times snowball will become much easier.
Not everyone relies on walking around the map and kicking gens to win.
-
It's funny how entitled killer mains try to deny OhTofu's 7 years DBD expertise (pub and comp level) predominantly as a killer main.
If this update comes live like this experienced players will just switch to gen rush strategy and will stay injure for the most part of the match.
Unexperienced players (which are like 90% of survivors' player base) on the other hand will just get slaughtered by sweaty Nurse, Blight, Spirit players and now even by mediocre killers on top of this. After some days of such monotonous experience most of them will leave the game and play something else which is more fun than just repeatedly holding m1 and W shift.

But including matches with DCs makes your statistics biased. You're including games with a foregone conclusion right from the start.
I've had countless games with an early DC that would have been more than salvageable. Games where the remaining 3 survivors have manged to repair about 4.5 gens, more than enough for a 4th survivor to have secured multiple escapes.
If you want your death to be counted, don't DC. Just as you're not supposed to anyway.
If the game is truly hopeless, then you'll die faster than your DC penalty anyway.
YOU are biasing the statistics by DCing. Stop It.
Of course there are even some winnable matches if someone DCs or disappears from the very start of match like this cheater.
But the vast majority is just a gifted 4 k for the killer.
It's part of the game. It's part of the reality. It's part of player experience. Thousands of people face it every day.
Not taking this into account is just not serious work with statistics if your goal is to depict the real state of the game.

But you don't take games with a DC into account, because they had a DC. The game is null and void, because the survivors don't stand a chance. The 4K is a certainty, so it can't reflect real kill rates.
"But it would have been a 4K anyway" is conjecture. I've escaped against Nurses when survivors haven't DCed. I'd like to take a guess at how often, but unfortunately too many Nurse games have a DC to tell. Survivors just refuse to learn how to counter her.
Moral of the story is, if you want real kill rates, STOP DCING.
As a 'solo survivor main', my biggest opponent is other survivors, I swear.
Of course you can. DCs are part of the realitiiy. Neglecting like 20-30% of the matches makes all your statistics biased.
There is no counter against a good nurse except maybe Lery's, Mothers Dwelling, skilled Dead Hard and comp play style SWF with perfectly separating on different gens. Since you won't see that in average matches much, people will continue DC.

Something like in 10 games 7 2ks and 3 3k is a 60% kill rate and they also say nurse is balanced even at top mmr and isn't even in the top 5 killers.
True. If you neglect the fact that every second match against a good nurse there is always a DC resulting in a 4 k most of the time.
Taking this into account will boost top mmr kill rate of Nurse to values of 80% or even more.
-

I do have experience. You're just bad.
Ohh.. Then you are just probably a bad and salty killer main who always complains about maps while playing this map like this Pig with 0 kills did.
She chased me (a very bad survivor, not even using dh) for 5 minutes far away from all the gens and got 1 hook in the end.
I never have an issue with this map when I play killer. My assumption is just there is a skill and ego issue on the killer side so they overcommit to chases far away from their 3-gen combos. Or play some weak m1 killer in a nice way and still expect to get 12 hooks / 4 k every single game.

A 5 gen combo around main is way survivor sided it means survivors have access to main from any gen. Most the tiles that spawn on erye are safe tiles meaning the killer has to break the pallet.
Haha. It's ridiculous. Next thing you will hear is probably, that 3-gens are survivor sided, because survivors doesnt have to run to generators much.
It's the same reason why I almost always 4k on this map with a Bubba. A pretty much low tier killer. Just break the two doors in Main and some pallets around and you will be completely fine just by hooking people within 3 gens with no pallets left in that area and windows blocked by bamboo..
Btw. Behind the main there was one short wall jungle gym, 1 4 lane and two filler pallets. Great stuff against a nurse
-
@Pulsar said:

It always makes me laugh when people think haddonfield is survivor sided. When in fact it just has two stron buildings an nothing more. Most of the time killer can even stand still on the street and see both doors on opposite sides of the map. Witch hatch spawning under their ass on this street.
Same with Ormond. Hypocritical killler mains should have played old Ormond. New Ormond just have a decent main building but other than this its a pretty balanced or even killer sided map (play nurse lmao).
If maps are survivor sided, I cant get how killer are able to get a 60% kill rate, not counting matches with a DC. So actually even 70-80% kill rate.,
-
20% chance to find hatch as killer is pure lie.
Considering killers can cover larger area due to higher movement speed realistic estimation should be 60% killer / 40% survivor.
Complaining about hatch is just ridiculous.

I mean, yeah, Wretched Shop and Wrecker's Yard are pretty killer friendly. So is Midwich and Shelter Woods.
There's way more purely survivor-sided maps, though. All variations of Badham, The Game, Garden of Joy, Eyrie, RPD, Cowshed, Gas Heaven, Groaning Storehouse. And apart from Midwich, gates are pure RNG. I think it's rather silly to claim BHVR is trying to cater to killers with their map design when they haven't released a single killer-friendly map in two years.
Haddonfield.
Except two buildings with strong windows this map is usually pretty unstacked and survivors can't do much besides holding W into nothing.
You will never see Badham in usual map rotation unless you bring a map offering. Those maps have a chance of like less than 1% each.
Game is survivor sided only against certain killers. It's pretty much killer sided against Nurse and stealth killers.
Garden of Joy is survivor sided, yes.
Eyrie is balanced, cuz there is ALWAYS a 3gen around main building. I got a 4 k with Bubba there literally yesterday with first hook at 2 gens left (but 3 of them were in/around main building...)
RPD is not survivor sided against stealth killers.
Cowshed, Gas Heaven and Groaning Storehouse are pretty survivor sided, yes. Groaning Storehouse is very RNG dependend however and can be balanced or even killer sided if you only get pallet gyms, 4 lanes, TLs and new crap tiles.
Ironworks, Mother's Dwelling and Grey Panties (if survivors know how to play it) are other survivor sided maps.
Sanctum of Wrath is killer sided. Every map is Nurse sided except Lery's and RPD.
However. Even on most survivor sided maps I've seen such crap door spawns, with literally 0 chance of winning if killer knows how to play door game properly.

Nurse is just broken. No need to talk about this.
-
There should be increased DC penalty times for survivors who doesn't want to get slugged for 4 minutes and DC in such situations.
-
In the end I kinda had to play "bad" and stopped slugging at some point to not end matches too quickly and prolong survivors' agony giving them the feeling they might have a chance still.
-
This was the hardest killer adept achievement for me back then in 2020. But I still got it after 2 or 3 hours of playing.
I either got gen rushed cuz of no slowdowns trying to 3 hook every survivor (old thana lmao) or I snowballed people too quickly and didnt get enough chase emblem points cuz downs were too quickly and many survivors hit second stage or died on first hook.

I never understand people who say learning nurse is difficult.
All you need is just 10 hours of life gameplay. After this it's just muscle memory.

I was at shack with an Oni with his power on my ass, so basically a lose-lose situation if you try to loop it. But instead of looping I decided to do something "stupid" and hid behind a slim tree close to shack when oni was for just a second behind the corner. Luckily Kate isn't that thicc and I wore a dark outfit so Oni didnt notice me.
It took him two circles around the shack to finally figure out what happened and take a look on the tree. He still downed me, but those additional 15-20 seconds of time where he didn't see me twice were enough for my team to finish the last generator and to start opening the doors.
Luckily Oni didn't camp and left so we got all people out.

Bubba could do the exact same thing before the patch.
Before the update survivors actually had a chance to finish all the gens within the 120 seconds a person dies on hook. With new 90 seconds gens, Deadlock and Thana it't even way more easier to camp and get free wins.

I did same experiment a few days ago on high mmr. I won every single game, when I decided to camp from the very beginning. I stopped cuz I got bored after 5 or 6 matches.
It's not even best build. With deadlock I would be even more efficient.
If you get a down quickly, there is no way for survivors to finish all the gens before the person on the hook hits struggle or dies. And they can't do a save unhook either.

For streamers who are live, I don't know how they do it, but they don't seem to get good survivors like 80% of their matches. But most of the ones who take stuff from their streams to highlight, the only show their wins. The exception is Tru3 and Otz. So if you watch literally anyone else, they're pretty much lying to you about how the game is for killer.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3101029#Comment_3101029
You destroyed a Wraith as a SWF? I'm shocked.
And that's cap. Amazing killers couldn't get 4ks against good survivors, so how could decent killers? That's why killer's been buffed so much, because their baseline sucked so bad. Trapper couldn't even pick up 2 traps without a bag add-on. Wraith couldn't even move fast without Windstorm. Blight couldn't see above a window. So how were those killers ez to 4k with?
And it does not matter if you don't see SWF that much. The truth is that they break the game because they set up body blocks and prioritize gens like solos never could. Killers at higher MMR do see them all the time, like half their matches. I can't even get to high MMR with certain killers. Why? Because I hit a SWF brick wall every time.
TrueTalent wasnt playing Wraith, if you look carefully.
He was playing Dredge with good addons (Nightfall from the beginning of the match), which gave him a down very quickly. So it's definetely not the weakest killer. But he decided to tunnel and camp and this didn't work out cuz even with just 2 people in voice call in that specific game my friends and me were able to do gens and to unhook. Even though he got a grab on the hook, but also got a flashy save at the same time and lost everything.
But yea... a brown medkit and two flashlights are OP survivor equipment as well I guess...
However this is not his typical game. If you watch his streams then you should notice than besides his typical crying about how hard killer life is (one of my friends in this match is also a killer main btw and 4 ks most of the time) he wins 9 out of 10 his matches (even before the update).

You are mostly playing against clueless people. You can chose any killer for me and I go there perkless and still get 4 kills without any effort, because they are so bad at this in low ranks. I know it because I haven't played for a long time, since I lost my job during Covid, and now I started again, and in such low ranks, they manage to pop 1-2 gens at most before I kill them all, every single time. Without even trying.
Nope. I did actually the same experiment for a few couple of games a few days ago as bubba main (usually I prefer to chase people).
(4000 hours in general, about 200 on Bubba)
Results: I won everytime I facecamped.
Survivors just didnt have enough time to finish all the gens and died trying to unhook the camped person.

Here we go. this data comes from 2021-2022

If we balance around the "90% of other players" then based on this data we need to actually buff nurse and nerf pig again.
So you are just telling me, that actual numbers are really fine and there was no need to buff killers, since even worst of them reached 50% kill rate.
Since January Nurse also got buffed. Thanks to range add ons which increased her teleport speed, so actual numbers for spring should be already higher.
