i know that dumb perk exists reason why i dont get why eruption "was nerfed" this way... 10 seconds make the thing even way worse than blood of rage ever was.

You're completely wrong. Floods of Rage is fairly reliable and provides a big aura read on the entire team. Neo-Eruption requires you to go out of your way to kick gens and then hope that when you down someone:

1.) the gen you kicked hasn't already been completed

2.) someone is on the gen at that moment

3.) the gen is reasonably nearby (unless you're Artist, who is the only killer who can use this information freely)

4.) the survivor on the ground can't pick themselves up and you don't think there's someone nearby that can heal them

Better yet, because the survivor screams, they'll know you have Eruption and can see them now. So if you're a Huntress, they're probably going to duck for cover; if you're an Artist, move erratically or jump in a locker; if you're a Nurse, start W'ing away, et cetera. Floods of Rage is invisible and the survivors don't know they're exposed to you.

As an aura perk, it's worse than other options we have. And you're off your rocker if you think that this effect is somehow stronger than the previous 'remove survivors from the game for half a minute' nonsense it was before.

  • ...Is this bait, or did you not realize that Floods of Rage was in the game before now?

Seriously, I'm baffled by this. I don't like running Eruption because it's terrible for the game, but I did for a while and actually hitting survivors with it is not especially reliable until lategame, where there's only 3-4 gens and everything's become fairly concentrated. Then there's the question of whether you can actually do anything with that information, because if they're on the other side of the map and you're not Artist or Huntress in a nice outdoor map with no obstructions, you're better off just picking up the guy you downed and hooking them before someone else can come and patch them up.

Snowball killers will get miles more usage out of Infectious Fright than this. The proposed Eruption is not a reliable aura perk.

  • @hiken said:

dead perk literally nurse mains are gonna love this boosted perk 10 seconds of free aura and with that to down people.

Why would a Nurse want this over Infectious Fright or Floods of Rage? It requires you to stop and kick gens to get anything, it's unreliable whether it'll actually reveal anyone when it triggers, and gives you information at an iffy time (because going after someone means risking you lose the down you just got, particularly if they're not close by - and unlike IF, this doesn't guarantee they'll be within actionable range.)

You're better off with Nowhere To Hide and just getting immediate information if you really want to be a gen-kicking Nurse.

At that time PR was nerfed. It was quite strong as a perk. Now it is in such a good spot.

As I mentioned, if there are some people crying about PR it will be because they don’t have much experience in the game, like the occasional post about Windows of Opporunity shows.

If I have learned anything about this community, it's that people will complain stridently about whatever the most common gen regression perk is, regardless of whether it's fair or not. Yeah, Eruption was horrible for the game, really badly designed. But there was nothing wrong with Pop at all, and I still watched it get flak. Same with the previous version of Ruin, really. Slowdown isn't fun to go against and therefore people will always have issues with it, and that issue will take the face of whatever they're up against most.

The only difference between PR then and PR now is that it doesn't give the killer a notification on where the gen that got blown up is. And more than half the time, I can infer where it is anyway. It's not that different.

  • Yeah, this is really frustrating. Previously you could still adept around ragequitters - if they DCed while on hook, they actually gave a boost to your emblem score. But now they can just flat-out deny it like they can that one Myers achievement. Really wish DCs would count as kills for the sake of your match rating - there's no reason not to.

I'm not commenting on the actual change they're implementing, but your suggestion would've translated to either:

    • A buff against SWF, in case you meant the blockers apply regardless if the gen was being worked on or not, effectively removing counterplay and giving the killer time to reapply eruption cob and even pop.
    • A soloq stomper again, in case you meant the gen blocks only if the down happens when worked on.

While the gen being blocked is still pretty strong and I wouldn't want it to last 25 seconds (I think Eruption launched with 16, and don't know why that was ever changed), it'd allow me as a survivor to do something with my time. Usually that'd mean stopping to heal or going to work on a different nearby gen. "This gen is off limits" is healthier than "You are effectively removed from the game" even if the numbers are still open to debate.

The gen being blocked is also a slight nerf in two other ways - the killer can't immediately kick it again, and if it wasn't being worked on at the time of Eruption going off, it won't regress until the gen is unblocked.

  • I'll miss having you around! But I totally understand it; I was taking a hiatus myself and only poked my head back out because I was excited about the solo queue information buffs.

We're doomed, as Dead By Daylight fans, to exist in an endless love-hate relationship with this game and its occasionally extremely questionable balance decisions. Here's hoping a break will restore the first part of that flame and diminish the second. Or that they'll keep up their recent streak of positive changes and less of the ones where they take a sledgehammer to a problem instead of a screwdriver. I think we're overall on a good trajectory since summer last year; there's just been missteps along the way, including a couple that caused me to dip out for awhile.

Regression perks and progression stuff is not equivalent. Survivors just splitting up, predropping and banging out gens with no gen perks is incredibly effective. It wins games, full stop. Most killers some sort of slow down perks to slow down the game and give them a fighting chance. Survivors don't need progression to win games.

I think that issue boils down to the inability to balance the game for both the low end and the high end. On one side, you've got games where the killer is running four slowdowns and the survivors are lucky if they can finish a single gen because none of them are particularly good loopers and they just keep getting their progress nuked by their downed teammates. On the other side, you've got genuinely skilled killers who can't get more than three hooks before five gens have popped because there's just too many resources for equally skilled survivors to delay them with (to say nothing of the resources to streamline said gens.)

Basing gen times on MMR bracket would probably help, though that opens up its own slew of problems.

The really frustrating part is that, running Empathy, I was actually getting pretty sharp at dodging Eruption. Like...occasionally I'd waste a bit too much time not working on that gen, but the only time it would catch me was an instadown killer.

There were much, much better ways of doing this - and people were suggesting them left right and center.

I hate to be a tinfoilhatter, but it's times like this where it's hard not to think BHVR have some sort of animus against killer players.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341381#Comment_3341381

That Thana nerf hurt my soul, because that was just meanspirited. Not 'oh, this perk is annoying so we're changing it a bit' - full on 'we don't want you to ever use this perk again, stay mad'.

    And yes, that's frustrating.

I really can't agree with Empathy helping much. Without seeing where the killer is relative to them, or what resources they have, it's pretty much a crapshoot. Might go down within 10 seconds of getting injured, might be another minute. All you can do is tap anxiously and for sure let go if they start spinning. I run a healing build and swap between Empathy and Empathic Connection depending on how much I get sandbagged that day, and I scarcely noticed a difference between the two.

Eruption 100% needed to change and I'll die on that hill; they just nuked it instead of cutting loose the distinctly unhealthy parts and compensating it elsewhere.

It is frustrating that these forums constantly suggest sensible changes and somehow we get such badly conceived fixes when they come around. Still salty we didn't get Thana with decreasing returns on more survivors injured (like 6-10-13-15.) Or, y'know, Eruption with higher base regression or gen blockers.

    Sure.

And, as I and others suggested, it should have been a gen block.

But - and you're welcome to check my post history, because yet again I frigging called this - that wasn't going to happen. Because when BHVR nerf a killer perk, the goal is to effectively remove it from the game. See Ruin, Pop, Thana, OC.

There are some very rare exceptions, but those are exactly that.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341342#Comment_3341342

When is the last time BHVR walked back a nerf to a killer perk? I'm...actually struggling to remember more than one.

Again, the word of the day is 'precedent'.

We know what BHVR are going to do because that's what they have always done in the past.

We are giving feedback. AFAIK, the PTB isn't open.

Also - why are you playing forum cop? If you don't agree with feedback, then you don't have to. But saying 'well, you shouldn't be allowed to give this feedback yet because I say so'...not sure what that's about.

Once again - it's going to go live as is. Because that's what happened to Thana, Ruin, Pop etc. despite people telling BHVR that they were junking the perks.

BHVR know their game. They know what changes will do. Take a look at Thana and tell me there was no malice or deliberate overnerfing there.

The thing with Thana that still baffles me is that everyone was complaining that it was way too strong on Legion and Plague. The nerfs we got proceeded to make the perk completely useless for anyone who wasn't Legion and Plague. Just... ?????

It's because of that that I disagree that BHVR knows what they're doing when they lay out these perk changes. The impression I get is that oftentimes, they really don't. Like, the Calm Spirit 'buff'? The Pharmacy changes because Meg might steal your medkit if you for some reason didn't pick it up? I don't think they're trying to make perks useless so much as they just don't understand what makes them good - unless they're trying to make the perk useless because they want people to stop using it, which admittedly may well be the case here (and definitely was with Ruin, Pop, DS, etc.)

It wasn't the regression part for me anyway,it was the freaking 25 secs of being USELESS 😂

Yeah. I'd developed a habit of just teabagging angrily whenever I got kicked off a gen and there was another survivor to dance with because I literally could not do anything better with my time. Couldn't even open a damn chest. Incapacitation should never be applied to survivors by another means than the killer's direct attention. As a passive effect, it's not only too strong, it's patently obnoxious.

The Incapacitation also led me to a few situations where another survivor got pissed with me because they didn't understand why I wouldn't heal them or work on a gen with them. 25s is a long time.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341330#Comment_3341330

    No it isn't.

It WILL be a niche perk now on like two killers IF the changes that we've only just heard about go through the PTB and onto the live servers, which is not a guarantee. The time to bemoan Eruption being a dead perk and start doomsaying about how it's a slippery slope to more nerfs is- well, never, that's never appropriate. But the time to criticise this change for being too much is when it actually happens.

That, or criticise it on the PTB feedback forum if you're on PC and can test.

I mean, that's what we're doing right now, isn't it? We're complaining about the changes to Eruption in hopes that BHVR will see them and change their mind. At least, that's what I thought we were doing.

As for the doomsaying, I don't think it really counts as such when this is a plainly observable trend we have seen. Killer gen regression perks exist in an endless game of whack-a-mole where the best contenders get the mallet and others pop from the earth until they're the tallest one standing, rinse-repeat. Expecting this not to happen is the unrealistic stance, imo.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341251#Comment_3341251

That's kind of misleading, don't you think?

Like, yeah, those two perks did get nerfed because of high usage numbers... in the one specific update that was specifically geared towards shaking up a stale meta, something people had been complaining about and asking them to do for literal years beforehand. I don't see much evidence that the devs nerf based on pickrate alone, normally it's a perk that's picked pretty often because it's too strong and actually warrants the nerf.

I don't think it is, exactly, because pick rates are clearly a factor they use when deciding what to change and I doubt their goal of increasing perk diversity has gone anywhere. It'll always be there even if it's not overt.

Of course, equally important to this equation is that while I personally hated Eruption much more than any other slowdown perk, people will always complain en masse about the most commonly used ones, because slowdown is inherently annoying - at least, that's been my experience with the DBD community for as long as I've been here - and StarLost is right that we're likely to return to PR+DMS after this. So while you're right that it's not the only reason they'd do it, I would not at all be surprised to see PR on the chopping block within a year or so. They look at perks that get complained about - it's why Eruption is under fire now.

Shrug. I could have worded it better initially, but nerfs like this one don't give me much hope that BHVR can look at a perk and identify what exactly the problem is with its current function, or why it's more desirable than similar perks.

You're not understanding why it's still gonna be good on those killers. Being able to down someone on Oni or Billy and instantly know where more survivors are is very powerful. I don't know why you're comparing it to surge and pain res because the regression is not the point it's the information and the regression is a bonus. It's a completely different category of perk now.

Except it's extremely unreliable compared to Infectious Fright and requires more setup time on top of it. Seriously, how many times have you kicked a gen with Eruption and not gotten a response because no survivors were on the gen at the time you downed someone? It's not a factor you can control, and apart from endgame 3-gens, the silence is more common than when you actually hit them.

I could be wrong, but I am not seeing neo-Eruption as a decent snowball information perk. Floods of Rage and Infectious Fright are both miles better.

Also, the regression is important because it was a regression perk. Of course people are going to complain that it barely does the job it used to do.

  • @BlueHorkew said:

    Eruption is dead, good.

Also i doubt they will nerf Pain Res, its one of the most fair regression perks i doubt they would touch it, it would be really unnecessary.

This is the same team that nerfed Self-Care because its usage numbers were too high. Same with BBQ.

It's definitely a possibility. They will nerf things for no other reason than to try and create diversity.

  • The funniest thing is that the players who do this are the first to complain about being slugged. It's like, my guy, I wouldn't have bled you out if you'd given me any other choice.

If you break the wall, you drop down onto a narrow staircase.

Yeah, I've found it's really easy to get knocked off that staircase and give them a double drop for Boil Over. Better not to risk it.

  • Yeah, it's a nerf addon. The idea is that survivors will give you your power by themselves and you can play it passively, but that's not as good as choosing when to use it - you only get a fourth of your usual Corrupt Purges, and even if you're grabbing them manually, the lower number makes it easier for survivors to reset your fountains and waste your potential anyway. Might be okay if you end up on Swamp, Plague's personal hell zone, but other than that, you're better off staying far away from that addon.

  • I'm never going to use 80% of the items I buy in the bloodweb anyway. At least the envelopes gave me tons of bloodpoints while they were around.

10 secs of aura reading is huge for some killers with high mobility or snipe potential like nurse / huntress/ blight / billy perhaps though i do agree it should get a slight buff like +5% regress or smth ,on the average m1 killer it has now become mediocre

Thing is, it's 10 seconds of aura reading when you're downing a survivor, so you're usually not in a good position to act on it. Huntress can maybe turn around and cross-map if she's lucky about what map she's in, but if snowballing is your angle, I don't know why you wouldn't run Infectious Fright instead, which doesn't require the survivors to be on gens that you previously kicked. And if you want info on the side of kicking gens, Nowhere to Hide is much better and gives you information when you're ready to use it rather than incidentally.

It's not nearly enough payoff for having to go and kick the gen yourself. I was fine with Eruption giving more than Pain Res because of that, I just hated that it effectively kicked survivors out of the game for half a minute and you'd deal with that multiple times per match.

  • Yeah, Eruption's dead. It's much worse now than it was in its original state, where it was subpar compared to other options but still usable. Currently, Eruption takes much more time to use than Jolt or Pain Resonance while providing less in return. Zero reason to use it over Call of Brine or Overcharge if you want a gen kicking perk.

Like, I'm happy they nerfed it, because Eruption was absolutely horrible to verse, but they missed the point. They needed to ditch Incapacitation as a status effect that could be applied on passive, non-chased survivors, and strengthen the perk in some other, less obnoxious way, not weaken it further. The aura reading is not very useful because you generally knew where the affected survivors were anyway on account of the screaming. You know, "I kicked that gen, I head Jane and Yui scream when I downed Dwight, there's two over there."

I dunno, it just always seems like they go in with a jackhammer where they only needed a chisel and leave rubble behind. Though I will say they've made a ton of recent changes to the game that I'm utterly thrilled about, so credit where it's due, things are definitely on the upswing despite this misstep.

  • I'm glad they nerfed it, because it was one of the most frustrating things to play against, but they nerfed it way harder than it needed to be. All they had to do was get rid of the Incapacitated and then strengthen it a bit elsewhere. There's no reason to run it anymore - it takes way more time to use than Pain Res or Jolt for considerably worse returns. The aura reading is not especially helpful when you could generally tell where the survivors were anyway between the screams and the specific gens you'd kicked. It's a dead perk now, much worse than it was before they buffed it in the first place.

I don't know, I often get the sense that they don't understand what the problem is when it comes to these kinds of nerfs.

I absolutely support it. They literally just made all other cosmetics for older characters purchasable through shards now.

Yeah, funny how they made that announcement, rolled it out at a glacial crawl (so far it's only 4 survivors and 5 killers over, what, 4 months?), and proceeded to release all their new outfits with a loophole that says they never have to be available for shards. And now they're taking hot sellers out of the store and into their cycling rotation before they'd ever have to make them available with shards. Notice Feng and Felix in there? The onesies? Yeah.

I would have much rather had the old shop than the one we're moving towards. Like it's not even a question. It's not like we're headed towards the promised era where we can buy everything with shards, so why not have universal availablity?

  • Absolutely disgusting. I could understand limiting things like Dwight-in-a-box even if I still think it's unacceptable to remove things that used to be freely available (seriously, what's the justification), but the fact that the pajama sets ended up in there is just criminal. How are those even holiday related? This is just a grab to try and get a wave of people snapping up open-shirt Felix and pajama Feng. Meanwhile, Jonah and Twins are losing an outfit in the store when they barely have any to begin with.

How anyone can defend this move, I don't understand. These kinds of cash plays were exactly what I was afraid of when they first started making noise about limited-time outfits, and I am very afraid for what they're going to see fit to remove for each other holiday or season.

  • @MeanieDeeny said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3285939#Comment_3285939

No. I don’t agree with what they’re doing as far as all the other cosmetics that have been for sale year round, are now being considered limited.

Then I'm glad to hear that, but now I don't really understand why you're so against the idea of people complaining, petitioning, or being alarmed by BHVR's shift in policy, given that these two things are heavily related.

  • It's absolutely disgusting that they're removing content that used to be freely available, and it's especially awful with how wide they're casting this net. I can almost rationalize it for stuff like Elf Dwight, but the pajama sets? The sweaters? How did the Twins even end up in there? It's a naked cash grab and it has me fearing for what else they're going to find an excuse to snip out of the store come Lunar New Year, spring, summer, autumn, Halloween... eurgh.

I could have lived with them releasing new limited-time sets, but this is just unacceptable.

And I'm still terribly amused by how they pretended to ask for our feedback about limited time outfits a couple of times and then plowed straight ahead despite the answer being a resounding 'no!'

  • @MeanieDeeny said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3285890#Comment_3285890

You missed the point. I’m talking about the real world, maybe you should go out in it more, instead of crying about how you have FOMO over cosmetics that will be available to purchase for a whole month still.

Except this isn't the real world? This is very much the internet. Stores don't stock halloween costumes all year because the cost-benefit to those items taking up display space isn't worth it. There's no such conundrum with an online store.

Artificial scarcity is not a consumer-friendly practice. And I wouldn't care as much if it was just the new cosmetic run, but now they're grabbing huge swathes of content that used to be available year-round and limiting it because ~exclusivity~, and I see no reason why this will not continue into their other holidays. How can you possibly view that as a good thing? Is there some reason you think that shirtless Felix and pajama Feng should only be accessible in December?

  • Ah, yes, I guess I will just shut and not complain about the fact that they are now removing sixteen year-round cosmetic sets that have been available in the shop for a long time, as well as every ugly sweater, because they feel they can get more sales by using FOMO tactics and preventing people from accessing content that was previously universally available. And this is definitely not concerning at all, seeing how many of these sets aren't even strictly holiday related (like pajamas, open-chest Felix, pig guts Twins, or Jake in a bathrobe), and I have no reason to worry that they'll continue to snip content out of the store on the loosest of reasons.

Clearly I am just upset for no reason.

  • My issues with Eyrie is that everything about the map design is a giant "f you" to stealth killers and Trapper, and because there's a gazillion chainable pallets all across the map and it takes a non-antiloop killer ages to work through them. The hitboxes are also very bad and weird - you'll notice this real fast if you play Billy or Demo on there, because there's invisible walls up the wazoo.

Otherwise, gen spread is fine. Mandatory breakable walls are stupid but at least they're both in one quick-to-access area.

  • I've found the way I have the most fun is to not sweat and play for the game itself. I use perks I like and chase whoever's in front of me, and I only step on the gas when I'm losing. If I win, great. If I lose... as long as I had fun in the match itself, it's okay.

Now, survivors stomping you into the ground and being sore winners about it is a really ugly environment that doesn't lend itself to good feelings about the game, but you'll get fewer SWFs that'll completely destroy you and salt the earth for good measure if you don't rack up 4k streaks and you let people live every once in a while because they were good or funny. This is key - you have to be somewhat merciful or MMR will toss you to the sweats, either directly or with your playstyle (i.e. going for the 12-hook.) Be too merciful and the game will give you newbies, which are some of the most boring games imaginable, but giving hatch is a surprisingly strong tool for keeping your MMR level.

If you can stay in that environment where survivors are competent but not indomitable, the game can be fun, and you can dust off some low-tier killers meme builds. But if you play to win, you've gotta commit to sweating, because high MMR killer matches are just Stress: The Game and I'm not built for that.

  • Their reasoning for changing it was some of the most incongruous nonsense I've ever heard. "Nobody wants to use Pharmacy on a chest and store the medkit for later, only to find out that Meg stole it." Then... don't put down the medkit, like 99% of Pharmacy users? If you absolutely have to swap items, hide it somewhere less obvious?? Search the chest later, like you have the power to???

It's worse than before. Only being able to get the medkit while injured increases danger, prevents you from getting it at times that are convenient for you, and increases the likelihood that there will be no chests for you to open by the time you can access it. Make it available from the beginning or make it a rummage perk. Perhaps both.

Oh I certainly play normal on killers. I always leave the hook the moment I hook someone. If I do chase someone and they go directly to the hook for an unhook, I go for the unhooker every time. But I’m doing it purely for the meme, as well as changing my steam name to show I’m just memeing. No need to be serious. I usually produce a fun play style and also get compliments from survivors saying I was the only killer for them that night that didn’t camp and tunnel.

games aren’t meant to always be serious

Can you really say you're just memeing and messing around if you're the only one that's having fun?

I think that's when it crosses the line into trolling.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

People want the best chances of winning, of course it comes at the dismay for those who want a casual experience.

This doesnt just apply to killers, it applies to everyone.

That was my first thought as well. The exact same principle applies when you get a 4stack who brings 4 commodious+spool+BNP and a Badham offering. Is winning by extreme overkill and getting matches that offer as much resistance as a gentle breeze entertaining? I don't think so, but given how often I encounter it, the answer's gotta be yes for a lot of people.

Some people will argue that they need that level of hardball to play against most opponents at their level, and getting a lobby of solos that folds at 5 gens/a killer that gets 2 hooks all game isn't their normal result. If they're conscientious, they'll acknowledge MMR messed up with that match; if they're not, they'll just say the other team needs to git gud, but either way they don't think much of it and they move on to next. Other people don't care either way or actively enjoy the stomp games, because for them, the fun is winning, not the interaction itself. And some people just think it's dumb to deny yourself the most effective tools if you have access to them, so why wouldn't you use the strongest stuff?

It really boils down to different people having different and sometimes irreconcilable ideas on what constitutes fun.

It's last month's Prime cosmetic. If you can get a free trial of Prime gaming (or you just have Prime anyway), you have about a week left to get it.

  • A+. It's really a trick, you see. By hiding so 'inexpertly', she is maximizing the already high racial cuteness stat that all Feng mains base their build around, enticing you to drop your guard and play games by slowly approaching or pretending not to see her until the very last second. Perhaps you will even tbag or nod, thinking that this is all very silly. Then she will manifest a pallet (bought in the store for 1080 cells), slam it over your head, and moonwalk away while clicking dual utility flashlights.

  • Oh man, these look so good! I'm really digging how you worked with his anniversary mask, because I was never really sure how to coordinate it and it looks really sleek with the black and blue bat to tie it together with the blazer... but those purples, man. That second outfit is fantastic. All separate sets and yet they match so well. That bat and that top make such a great pair.

There wasn't any Iri Shards in the login rewards...the 2k shards that are being given out to players is what roughly they would have earnt had they been able to log in and play during this time.

The reward is being given out as some players were unable to login at all to receive their rewards due to an issue that prevented them from our side, hence this reward being done now for those players. It's automatic and those that were affected have already received the compensation.

Alright, thanks for clearing that up!

Yikes that there was a bug that prevented people from accessing the game at all, though. I would have been miserable if I'd forcibly missed out on the Halloween event. :( I'm glad they got some compensation.

As Hag you always want to have all of your traps spread throughout the map. Dont commit to chases. (Most of the time)

That's not necessarily true. Like Trapper, it's better to focus on one area, especially on a large map. If your traps are too spread out, you won't always be able to teleport to them.

But yeah, you ideally want to let your traps do the damage for you. Jump in and get a hit instead of chasing people as a slow swamp grandma, unless it's really in your favor and they're in a dead zone.

Anyway. If you can plan that far ahead, try to trap the side of pallets and windows that you think survivors will jump towards - or try to chase them towards your traps that way. If you're chasing someone, you want your mud clone to show up on the other side of the vault or pallet, not the side you're on. It's not like Trapper where it doesn't matter where on the route the trap is as long as they trigger it.

Placing traps at long walls is another good spot for them, or at the length of a loop that's farthest from the pallet or window. Doorways and choke points are excellent - just make sure to orient yourself before swinging.

  • Left For Dead. No contest. Took me 2500 hours and a killer who pretty much handed the achievement. I owe that Pig a blood debt.

Edit: Wait, I've been on this thread before 😨

  • Wait, there were iridescent shards in the halloween rewards? I never got any of those. It was only bloodpoints and rift fragments.

  • I hope I'm allowed to post more than one, because mixing up outfits is one of my favorite things to do in DBD. So many good cosmetics out there.

The new Artist set is quite possibly the best thing since sliced bread Dwight-In-A-Box.

  • Hey, looks like matchmaking did its job for once. Nice.

Nurse is not 'stronger than swf'. And shes not stronger than blight. Good players are going to be the deciding factor on what is better than what.

Nurse is absolutely 100%, indubitably stronger than Blight, and it's not even a question. Blight is still subject to the rules of the rules of the game and his power will not help at some loops; Nurse ignores all parts of map design except size and cannot be looped.

Being stronger than SWF really depends on the circumstances and the level of the SWF. At the very highest level of play, SWF will win, but it's usually not that clear cut.

  • Plague's a strong killer, but a good chunk of her performance is because survivors have to be very in sync with each other to effectively counter her. One survivor can easily screw over the entire team with a bad cleanse, and recovering from bad choices requires more coordinated action in mass cleansing to reset her fountains. Survivors need to be economical but know when to compromise, and randos are usually bad at one or the other.

Once you start facing survivors who know how to handle her, she faces more trouble. The "everyone is basically Exposed" thing drops off pretty hard once you meet confident loopers who don't need the extra health state to waste your time. Good squads will cleanse at the edges of the map if not deny her her power completely, and when you have Corrupt, do surprising plays to bonk you on the head over a pallet or just W at the faintest sound of your TR and hug high walls for the next minute. I always love facing a Plague in solo queue because as a Plague main, I know all the best ways to make her waste her entire Corrupt Purge. Well... I also un-love it because I usually run a healer build, but still, point stands. She's not as easy to play as you might come to think if you're still up against beginner survivors.

Plague has been one of my mains, and I'll say that cleansing/not cleansing really doesn't make much difference, if the whole team is on the same page about it.

If half the team is infected broken and the other half is feeding her corrupted pools, then you have a problem.

And is she OP? No, unless you're facing lower level survs who don't know what they're doing and/or can't get on the same page. I would put her in the "noob stomper" category.

I can't quite call Plague a noob stomper because she's still pretty good otherwise, but she's definitely one of those killers like Pinhead and Hag that carve through solo teams like a hot knife through butter.

If I had a top five pieces of advice to give to new survivors, one would definitely be that instantly going for the save is not the right play 90% of the time. Each hook stage is 60 seconds, and they should be used wisely.

Going for immediate saves (or worse yet, hook bombing) may be the most common and catastrophic throw possible from the surv side.

And then there's crying about "camping", because of course.

Absolutely. Going for an instant save is pretty much only the right choice when it's just you and someone else and you're making a sprint for the gates, or if you're trying to prevent Devour from hitting 5 stacks. I'm sure there's a couple of other weird scenarios, but under normal circumstances - even if you're already right there, it's much smarter to wait for the killer to leave first, and I wish more people understood that. And if the killer is camping, you want to run down the hook timer as much as possible before going in towards the end of that stage. Wish more people understood that too.

  • I hate to give this advice, but for that one, you're best off farming. You could use an offering for MacMillan or Dead Dawg or Yamaoka or somewhere else with thick brush, and use addons that make escaping take longer (or Iri Stone), but people falling for traps is always dependent on the survivors themselves and actually being in the area to yoink 6 people can be a tall order that will take you many games to complete. Way more reliable to get that one by being Friendly Evan And His Beartrap Circus.

Question, on both survivor side and killer side I have not seen an actual sandbagger in quite a while, does it really happen that often to you?

Deliberate trolls, no, they're pretty rare. I've seen a few players do this right off the bat, but most of the time, this is the result of someone who gets angry over something in the match and decides to flip the table over it (usually failed ragequitters, but sometimes people that get pissy about a play they didn't like and decide to try and get you killed over it.) Showboating flashlighters who waste time and occasionally get in the way in chase because they're more interested in following you for a save than doing gens - not common, but not very rare either. People who do stupid sandbaggy crap because they have an archive challenge or they're determined to escape? All the time. Fighting people for saves, farming 'protection hits', doing unsafe hit and run unhooks to activate Deliverance or fill a quota, it's everywhere. I run Empathic Connection on my main build and it is incredible how many people will run the killer into my gen when they can see me working on it. Some of them will make a habit of it and do it every time they get in chase, regardless of if they're on first hook and I'm death or idiotically selfish decisions like that.

I hate the ones who run the killer to my hanging body the most. Like, turn around and lead them away! But nooo, they want to see the hope leave my beautiful hazel eyes and watch my soul float up into the sky.

Oh god, this. Like... please. I was hooked 15 seconds ago. I don't need to be rescued right this instant. Someone else will get me and your 1k hook points aren't worth the loss that's going to come out of both of us getting downed straight afterwards.

  • As far as we can tell, limited cosmetics are new (or old and rereleased) cycling content that will be available once per year, and deep rift outfits are recolors of outfits introduced in that rift that will never come back in any form after the rift closes. However, we only just had our first run of limited and deep rift cosmetics, so things may be subject to change or misunderstood (especially on part of the deep rift.) BHVR has not been very clear or forthcoming regarding this.

It is interesting BHVR suddenly pivoted on its decision regarding exclusives, especially when they were citing a desire not to do legacy again as a reason they wouldn't give cosmetics for the rollover prestige reward.

  • There's currently an issue where the last kill in the game won't count for anything - no devout emblems, no mori dailies, no Evil Incarnate.

You sound just as salty about the complainers as the complainers o-O

I play solo queue. I am extremely salty about survivors who throw before the game even starts.

Sandbagging like that, running around and throwing every pallet because you hate the map and want to die, is directly against the rules. And trying to grief people as killer is barely any better. People like that deserve ire.

  • It's a solid survivor perk. I worry a little bit that it'll end up functioning like old OoO when it comes to SWFs, where one guy is just calling out the killer's location to the whole team at all times, but I wouldn't want to see the perk nerfed - a small cooldown after each aura sight is the most I'd be willing to weaken it by.

Also, yeah, it's hard countered by Fearmonger. Wonder if we'll see a rise in popularity?

  • Deathslinger. It doesn't matter what game I'm playing; I'm pants with any ranged weapon unless it's spray-n-pay. My aim is trash and I'm the kind of person who tends to sit in iron sights for 20 seconds before I feel confident enough to shoot. Obviously that doesn't work here, and Slinger has tiny hitboxes on top of that, so... yeah. No murder cowboy for me.
