I'm confused! So if it's not an anti-tunnel perk than what is it? Because it's mostly effective against tunneling killer's and the only counter's to it is to to not tunnel. If it's not a anti-tunneling perk than it's practically a god mode for survivor's that punish's killer's for doing what killer's do (example in the video below) and can reward survivor's with undeserved play's for example!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhke0kH3gD0

Like in my video! I got punished for capitalizing on Feng's and Yui's mistake's all while DS rewarded Jane for literally being brave with no downside!

So you tried to tunnel two survivors off the hook and you're mad because it failed both times because the survivors brought perks to counter that? A perk working the way it is intended, and you not liking it, is not a cause for changing it.

  • I fully understand this match making is crazy...but I have a hard time feeling bad about your 3k. LOL Even if you had to play a little sweaty to get it. 😂

No, that would make the perk useless.

Because most r1 Killers use the same predictable play style they need to counter.

DS, BT, Unbreakable and DH/SB works against any killer. That's the problem.

BT doesn't work against silent killers/freddy.

DH doesn't work 1/3rd of the time.

Also, none of these are a 'problem'.

  • How about we just don't change a perk that's perfectly fine as-is. 👍️

One will not activate if all totems are cleansed. It can be deactivated by cleansing the totem or avoided by exiting the match. It allows for insta-downs, but relies on the killer's skill to make contact with an attack.

The other's activation cannot be prevented. It can be avoided by letting the timer run out but the activation can't be prevented. It will allow for a free escape with a skill check.

They're quite different when you look at them objectively.

A Killer can use their 60 seconds productively by focusing on another target or objective, OR take 5 seconds of their time to eat a stun...but we'll be generous and say it as it takes 30 seconds to reacquire your target after their head start.

It takes 70 seconds total to cleanse 5 totems. Not including any time used to find them, which can be significant depending on the circumstance.

They are quite different when you look at them objectively.

  • @Kebek said:

Time changes aren't imao proper way to fix issues this perk has. Fixing abuseable sides of DS is what is needed and even possibly more notifications on which survivors use it and how long does it have left. Although if changes like this were to happen, it could probably use some buffs in other aspects.

I don't know really, it's hard to change this perk without promoting "unfun" strategies that it's supposed to discourage.

Yeah, exactly none of those things should happen.

  • @SpiritLover1133 said:

just loop the killer and he will give up and leave you alone.

I would agree, but Iron Will wasn't working for me earlier today. :| Its crappy when perks don't work. :/

  • It is a game meant to have fun. Many killers think that means only their fun matters. If that is at your expense... 🤷 "git gud" or "play better" because, while not encouraged, tunneling isn't against the rules. 🙄

DS should definitely exist, but even then, it doesn't stop tunneling. It just prolongs it, which helps your team by buying time.

I agree, being tunneled out of a game is no fun. But the people doing the tunneling give zero #########. It is a large number of people in this forum, unfortunately.

  • @Huff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1262334#Comment_1262334

So survivors are just intended to run up and do things right in front of the killer and be essentially immune?

    Have you read the perk?

    image.png

For 60 seconds, yes. The survivor is intended to be more bold. And the idea that it is immunity or god mode is bullshit. It's a 5 second stun, if they hit their skill check, and then they are completely murderable again.

  • @Huff said:

I disagree that the idea that it was "purely to stop tunneling" came from the community. I think most people in this community know that people will get tunneled because they used DS. It's more of a "tunnel me!" kind of perk.

    Joking, joking...

Seriously though, whether it's designed "purely to stop tunneling" or not, the devs clearly gave it conditions that activate to protect somebody from being tunneled. Sure, it's not purely to combat tunneling, but I still believe that's one of the goals they had when they designed it. There would be no other reason to give it such specific conditions. If it isn't the intention to at least make it partially about countering tunneling, then I feel like the design team just simply screwed the pooch on this one. The perk clearly has problems regardless of its intended use being to counter tunneling or not.

To try to make it all about semantics and "is it X kind of perk or Y kind of perk?" is just to ignore the actual concerns of people who dislike the perk.

Please don't try to twist me saying this into "I hate DS, it's still only meant for anti-tunnel." I don't care what you call it, just don't act like nothing is wrong with the way it works. We don't need 4 similar posts all talking about what to call the perk, something that doesn't even really concern the game's health.

There isn't anything wrong with the way it works. It works as intended.

  • @Exerlin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1262238#Comment_1262238

Alright, here are some problems with some perks.

DS essentially makes the survivor immune from being picked up in any way for 1 minute after being unhooked. While you can avoid a DS stun as killer by ignoring or slugging that survivor, that costs a lot of your time to counter a perk they might not even have equipped. Additionally, the perk can guarantee an escape in the endgame, so it's normally better to tank the DS stuns whenever possible to remove that possibility.

NOED punishes survivors for not cleansing totems, but in a similar way to DS, devoting a lot of your time to countering this perk the killer might not even have can cost you the game. This is even more of an issue when you aren't on coms with your teammates. The only way to guarantee NOED will not come into play is to be on coms and count the totems together.

Perks like Wake Up, Off the Record, Fire Up, Streetwise, Pharmacy, Autodidact, Sole Survivor, Poised, Dark Sense, Bloodhound, Predator, Unnerving Presence, Territorial Imperative, Beast of Prey, Huntress's Lullaby, Gearhead, Buckle Up, No Mither, Breakdown, Iron Maiden, Bodyguard, Camaraderie, and Cruel Limits are all so bad that running them is extremely close to running no perks at all. Why the hell would you run these when perks like Corrupt Intervention, Pop Goes The Weasel, Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, Iron Will, Adrenaline, Whispers, Save the Best for Last, and of course, DS and NOED exist? Even mid-tier perks like Botany knowledge or Brutal Strength would get some value each game. A huge problem is that even when those bad perks get value, it's minuscule. You save a few seconds or avoid a chase one time out of 5 games, great. Those perks need a buff badly.

"DS essentially makes the survivor immune from being picked up in any way for 1 minute after being unhooked."

False. The survivor can be picked up like any other survivor, they just have a 60 second window from the time they are off-hooked in which they can stun the killer for a 5 second head start on their next chase. Killers who waste their own time living in fear of a 5 second stun are dumb. That is not the fault of DS. And you are right, it is more advantageous to eat it early, as it's much more powerful in end game.

I don't know how an argument about NOED makes a valid point about DS being a problem?

I also don't know how other perks being under powered or less useful is a valid point for why DS is a problem. Unless you're trying to argue that all meta perks are a problem and should be nerfed, which would be silly.

The idea that Survivors deserve free unhooks because 'It's the games mechanics' is ridiculous.

If the Killer hooks someone, and you're NOT working on a gen and instead hiding nearby to save that hooked Survivor, guess what? You don't deserve that unhook because 'muh mechanics!'. The Killer has every right to sit there, because he's getting what he wants, WHAT HIS GODS DAMNED GOAL IS: A dead Survivor, and Survivors NOT working on generators.

Try saying this on Overwatch forums: 'Oh! You have to let us capture the point! Be-because THEN we push the objective, and you're supposed to ALSO stop the objective! Stopping us at the CP is TOXIC!'

You will be laughed off the forums. SO I don't see why Survivors feel 'We have a right to not lose!' is some sort of amazing argument.

    It's freaking stupid.

My goal is to kill you. And if I'm not using hacks, cheats, glitches, or 3rd party programs (cough Voice chat cough ), then I'm staying perfectly within the games mechanics. I don't HAVE to let you go because you 'deserve a longer match'.

When you log in, you accept the fact that you may die first. There's no 3 minute rule where Killers cannot kill Survivors for the first 3 minutes because their feelings will be hurt.

Grow up and accept the fact that you may lose, and that you don't get to decide fake little rules or make demands to change core mechanics because you want to win easier.

Because that's all these threads are:

'I lost really fast! But I DESERVE longer matches because I'm a Survivor! That Killer was being TOXIC for killing me so fast! I'm gonna run to the devs and demand camping be made bannable! I DESERVE TO WIN! ...I mean play! I deserve to play!'

Once again: It's all KILLER rules to appease Survivors. Genrush? Fine. Meta perks? Fine. God pallets? Strong loops? 100000% fine!

But camping? Tunneling? Killers WINNING too fast!? Playing <x> Killer? using <x> perks? TOXXXIIIICCCC!

    It's nothing but entitled whining.

*yawn* another Killer main who can only use the phrases "entitled" and "whining" because you refuse to have an actual legitimate reason why you should be freely allowed to play like a selfish ######### and not be considerate of others when you play a multi-player game. So original. 🙄

News flash, this is not Overwatch in any way, shape or form. Nor should it be - that game is dead.

And there is no such thing as a free unhook. Its just an unhook, bruh. Just like there's no such thing as gen rushing, it's just doing gens. 🙄

Again, Killers have other objectives for a reason. Not playing to them breaks the intent of the game and the emblem system. Using tactics that intentionally ruin others people's games for your own enjoyment is tacky, cheap, lazy, inconsiderate, and truly what entitlement is all about. You are welcome to be belligerent and exaggerate the issues to try and make your point seem more valid, but it does not.

    *shrug*

Yeah. One is Survivors doing their objective, which is okay.

The other is the Killer doing his objective, which is not okay.

People whining about camping are basically claiming that they should get free unhooks, because they want to WIN.

    Absolutely not.

Survivors doing gens provides zero level of toxicity toward the Killer. It doesn't incapacitate them in any way. It doesn't end their game significantly early. Instead, it gives them any easy to meet their objectives: finding survivors, chasing survivors, hitting survivors, destructing generators, gen pressure. Its proven that when survivors DON'T focus gens, and instead hide on the map, Killers can easily be taken hostage and the game becomes unfun/unfair. So survivors NEED to do generators for their objective and the Killer's. Also, there is only one way to do a generator: M1.

Killers camping, however, incapacitates a survivor - usually from the start of the match. They cannot meet any of their objectives while being face camped. They get almost no points. They pretty much always depip. In addition, the other three survivors also suffer significant point loss because the game is designed for people to play to more than just one objective. So even when they escape, they get very few points and probably depip without any off-hook, heal, or chase points. Unlike doing gens, there are numerous other ways to go about killing survivors.

So, no. You example is far from "one" difference. There is SIGNIFICANT difference. One is normal game play. One is toxic, inconsiderate, and stupid.

  • Currently: DS / BT / Iron Will / Inner Strength

DS: Because I like to have a chance to play the game.

BT: Because I like others to have a chance to play the game.

Iron Will: Idk why at the moment, it doesn't seem to be working. :|

Inner Strength: The heal is fast AF and it incentives doing totems.

I typically change out my Inner Strength spot, depending on how the matches have been going, for Kindered - so I have more info, especially when playing solo, or Unbreakable - because slugging. :|

  • screenshot.PNG

I don't have many screenshots, but flying meg is an old fave. RIP this match tho. 😂

  • @Entity_Hugs said:

Seriously, I'm seeing that it's never the SURVIVORS fault for abandoning generators to save the camped Survivor.

Nope! It's the KILLERS fault for not walking away and just giving a free unhook! Let's try to make it punishable! We Survivors DEMAND our free unhooks!

Also! Never tunnel! If you hit the same Survivor twice in a match, it's tunneling, and you're a toxic Killer! You're only allow to hit people once and then let them heal before you hit t hem again! NEVER TUNNEL!

At least this explains all the toxic garbage Survivors spew at me in endgame chat if I get even ONE kill; Killers aren't meant to KILL! At least, not unless the almighty Survivors allow it!

The idea that survivors shouldn't be able to unhook is ######### ridiculous. It's a core part of the game and significant point of BP/PIP generation for BOTH SIDES. Killers have OTHER OBJECTIVES so that they are encouraged to do OTHER THINGS, such as chase a new survivor, destruct generators, hit survivors (you know, the ones NOT on a hook)...so that survivors can un-hook...SO THAT KILLERS CAN HOOK SURVIVORS AGAIN. It's literally the circular motion of the game. If you're camping like a dumb ######### you are literally stopping the intended progression of the game and the points system design.

Also, it's not unreasonable to EXPECT to get to actually play in a match you waited for vs. getting camped and tunneled out of the game immediately by someone who doesn't give a ######### about anyone but themselves. If that's how you like to play games, you should play a single player game where you're not ruining the experience for anyone but the NPCs. Social games are not for sociopaths.

    This just in!

Survivors complain Killers are 'jerks' and 'selfish' for trying to win as fast as possible!

    This also just in!

Survivors still genrush to win as fast as possible!

Seriously. How come it's not okay for Killers to play smart (It's called 'camping' and 'tunneling' and only bad killers do it!) but Survivors can still run meta perks, genrush, and expect Killers to allow unsafe unhooks?

How come it's only Killers who have to 'play nice' while Survivors get to do whatever they want to win? That's all I've seen since joining 2 days ago; thread after thread of how camping should be bannable, tunneling is toxic, and now WINNING FAST is toxic.

But Survivors? Nooooooo. Survivors can do whatever they want. Survivors get to win, but Killers can only win if Survivors approve it!

    🤔

Huge difference between camping and doing a generator. HUGE difference.

The Problem with Bubba was your idea of helping the random. You and your Team doomed yourself. I agree it's a boring tactic. But you rewarded the Killer for playing like this.

It's totally fine to let a teammate die if you can use the space they created for you.

It's "fine" to let the teammate die and get out in that situation, as to not reward the killer, but to the OP's point, it's NOT fine that the Killer selected a survivor at random to completely ruin their match / made sure none of the other survivors can meet at most of their emblem requirements, and that they are rewarded for that behavior.

  • @Joelwino said:

That's what it's supposed to do, even though it does an awful job as an anti tunnel perk. When a good survivor has DS they can actually outrun the 60 second timer which ends in them getting downed with no defenses against tunneling. Because of that, people have started forcing DS with lockers so they can actually use their anti tunnel perk to not get tunneled. DS is horribly designed.

    Horribly designed for who?

As a survivor, I have definitely run out my fair share of DS timers without forcing a locker pull. Why not? As long as it isn't your death hook, if you can take the Killer on another extended chase while your teammates bust out gens AND save your DS for potentially using it in end game - when it's arguably its strongest - that works for me.

Killers may think its horribly designed, but as I've said, it functions exactly as it was intended. It is not an anti-tunnel perk, and it functions accordingly.

It’s still rather broad for it’s use. People have been using it as a distraction tool, to aggressively save other players, as immunity to do gens. It needs to be tightened down a bit so players take it for the right reasons and not the varied outplays it has to offer.

Plenty of perks have broad application depending on the situation you're in. DS works exactly as it was intended.

  • No, it just shouldn't be rewarded.

To be honest, the entire basis of this thread right now is just you complaining.

I mean, I wouldn't mind some discussion, but it's literally just you saying, "I didn't get to play at all" and "No fault of my own" and "Killers are playing cheap".

If you want to describe some interaction in the game that you feel is incongruent with the design intent or creates a situation with a significant enough imbalance that it inhibits the play of the game, then be my guest. Otherwise all your complaints about "cheapness" and "sportsmanship" are just that. Complaints.

The fact that you cannot see where tunneling, the actual topic of conversation of this thread - that you clearly have shown you don't understand, is the exact thing you're asking me to describe is why we cannot continue this conversation. All you have are retorts about how what I am saying is whining, or I need to get good. I am sorry if you cannot comprehend the subject matter, but that's really not my problem. And I don't have any interest in traversing your insults, as a 1,700+ hours played, red rank survivor who does fully understand the core point of this thread. 🤷

    Yep.

And for the record, I say the same thing to killers who complain about "genrushing". (I just did in another thread, in fact!)

Complaining that your opponent is trying to accomplish their objective is ridiculous. If you leave your queen hanging in Chess, I'm capturing it, no matter how much you call it cheap. If you double peek a corner I'm watching in CS:GO, you're getting sniped, no matter how much you call it cheap. If you never block in a fighting game, I'm going to blow you up with the same meaties every time, no matter how much you call it cheap.

Stop complaining that your opponent is playing the game and improve instead.

I would continue to argue the point with you, but you don't understand the basis of this thread, so it's not really worth debating anymore. 🤷

No one really understands "tunneling" because - like I said - it's literally just a fantasy made up by survivors who played poorly and are mad they got killed.

Play better and you'll miraculously notice that you're getting "tunneled" less. It's that simple. Pretty much every survivor that has ever accused me of tunneling was making some glaring mistake constantly that was the reason I could find/catch them over and over in the first place.

I love how you prove you don't even understand the basis of this argument and then resort to "play better". Yes, the traditional Killer fall back statement when you don't have an intelligible argument left. 😂

"Play better and you'll miraculously notice that you're getting "tunneled" less."

You clearly don't spend much time playing survivor. Especially red rank survivor. :) Otherwise, you would know how dumb this statement is.

You fail to stay reasonably hidden...killer finds you...you lose the chase...killer hits you...you get a head start...you lose the chase again...killer hits you...you get carried to a hook.

    Someone unhooks you!

You fail to stay reasonably hidden...killer finds you...you lose the chase...killer hits you...you get a head start...you lose the chase again...killer hits you...you get carried to a hook.

Yes, clearly the survivor had no control over this situation and could do nothing. Nothing at all. Impossible to do anything. Couldn't even play the game. Clearly not their fault or the fault of their teammates. Nope, it's that killer just ruining their experience and not letting them play.

You are describing a scenario that is not tunneling. If someone unhooks you and you get healed up and found again, you were not tunneled. All this tells me is that you, yourself, don't understand what tunneling is. LOL

Also, you will always eventually lose a chase, because you designed to lose chases, unless you're playing against someone with less skill than you.

Ah then yes, that is the positive side (even for survivors) of not having a barrier that blocks the side of the stairs

    You missed the point completely.

My point is that my goal, as Killer, IS TO KILL SURVIVORS.

It's not my goal to pat them on the head and say 'I already stabbed you once, now go run along while I chase your friend!'

Do you log into Overwatch and tell Widowmaker players 'You already sniped me once! So now you can't shoot me while I claim the objective! That's tunneling!'

My goal is to win. If I can win faster by attacking the wounded guy, it's NOT 'tunneling', it's NOT 'being toxic', and it's NOT 'unfair'.

You'd laugh me off the forums if I said 'It's unfair that Survivors can genrush! They should have to walk around for 30 seconds after completing a generator! They're tunneling gens if they don't!'

But of course, it's only unfair is the Killer's try to win, huh?

I didn't miss the point. Your basis for the point was just flawed and comparing human action in a video game to animal instinct where their actual life depends on their un-evolved cognitive ability and complete lack of empathy.

If you attack someone directly off a hook, it IS tunneling. That is, in fact, the definition.

Again, comparing tunneling to survivors doing gens is not remotely comparable. A survivor can be camped/tunneled out of a match right away. They get very few points. They will depip. They can spend less time in a match than they did waiting for the lobby. And it is at little to no faut of their own if this is simply how the Killer approaches the match from square one. Meanwhile a survivor doing generators doesn't immediately incapaitate the Killer...instead, they enable the killer to gain points for finding survivors, getting to chase, getting gen pressure and destruction points, etc. If survivors DIDN'T do generators, and instead chose to hide the entire match, the Killer would be held hostage with very little recourse.

Again, I have no issue with Killers who kill survivors. I have an issue with Killers whose only tactic is to ruin someone else's game because they can't 'win' without playing cheap.

  • @Bovinity said:

It's not "good sportsmanship" to follow some rules that someone made up in their head about how you're supposed to play. It's "good sportsmanship" for me to be respectful of my fellow players, not be a jerk in post-game chat, say GG, and so on.

If you want the ACTUAL rules of the game changed, take it up with the developers. Otherwise you're just being whiny and obnoxious, demanding that others play in accordance with your wishes rather than within the rules of the game.

(And yes, I replied to your post in the depip thread because it was actually more sensible than this topic.)

There is a difference between rules and sportsmanship. It is not a rule that you cannot tunnel people, but even devs have said they dont promote this type of game play. Just because it isn't a hard rule doesn't mean it isn't unsportsmanlike behavior. And people "take it up" with the devs every single day. In this forum. In the ticketing system. Its why it, along with camping, was recently a topic of discussion in the survey they did. They know it is a problem that is rampantly effecting their playerbase. This behavior is not going unnoticed. Don't you think it would be more advantageous to play matches like a normal person, so everyone can have fun and enjoy the game, and only employing tactis like this when needed vs. doing it all the time, in every match, until your opponent gets so fed up that the action itself gets nerfed in some way??

Just because you CAN do something, doesn't make it the RIGHT thing to do.

What the hell else do you want? It's your job to not get caught. It's your job to play better.

It's not the killers job to go easy on you because of some rule you made up.

That's just an idiot statement. Survivors are designed to get caught and Killers are designed to catch them. If it were possible to never get caught as a survivor, this game would be exceptionally broken and Killers would stop playing. It has absolutely nothing to do with skill whether or not someone gets caught in a match. Someone will ALWAYS get caught unless the Killer is very bad...and even then, between bloodlust and the recent map changes specifically made to end chases sooner for Killers...even bad Killers get lucky. I didn't make up the rules about what good sportsmanship looks like - they have existed forever.

Someone always has to get chased and downed first.

If survivors weren't catch-able, Killers wouldn't have any fun.

So there is no issue with a survivor getting downed and hooked first in a match. It doesn't denote they weren't contributing or did anything wrong. And getting facecamped out of the match is completely outside of their control. I don't really see where the logic behind trying to balance a Killer's desire to facecamp someone out of the game with a survivor's desire not to lose rank when they didn't even get a real opportunity to play, is hard to understand.

However, I do agree with @PigNRun - that it would be hard to base this off of whether or not the Killer depips, as your score is already decided. But the idea of there being a mechanism that saves your progress when you're unduly incapacitated is a good conversation to have.

Killing. Survivors. Is. Not. Toxic. It's literally the killers job.

Stop complaining about everything killers do and just work to win the match. Stop using phrases like, "Ruined my match" when a killer kills you, that's how the game is played. You just sound whiny every time you post about how killers are toxic and your game is ruined by losing.

I dont. Think. Killing survivors. Is. Toxic.

    LOL

Stop assuming that because tunneling can be an extremely toxic and ######### way to play that game that it means survivors don't enjoy a fair match where they end up dead. If a killer is just good at what they do, I am not mad. If a Killer is just a lazy schmuck who doesn't give two shits about anyone but themselves, they can miss me with what game play.

You just sound like an entitled killer-main ######### every time you post, who clearly plays as dirty as possible because you can't win a match without eliminating people who didn't get an opportunity to even play the game. 🤷

Yeah survivors do meaninglessly delay the game, survivors are far more.likely to play spitefully like that. Because its so EASY for them.up.until very recently. Theres a reason more and more perks had to counter stealth

Survivors struggling on a hook are not spitefully delaying a game. End of conversation. LOL

I'm not going to debate whether or not survivors can waste time in other ways. Obviously they can. In this case, no. They are not.

  • Idk, he seems broken. Yesterday every time a Bubba I was going against would chainsaw in a chase...the chainsaw audio wouldn't stop, even when he was not revving it at all and performing other actions. I do feel like he is currently buggy for some reason.

This community cracks me up with its unwritten rules where if you don't follow them then you are considered "toxic." Complaining about tunneling is about as silly as complaining about camping in the end game collapse. Complaining about tunneling is also about as silly as complaining about gen rushing. In what world is it okay to say "you can't complete your main objective because its toxic?"

People who compare tunneling to survivors doing gens is pretty asinine. These are not comparable. I get Killer's don't want people to complete gens and escape. However, it in no way disables someone from playing an entire match. It doesn't rob the Killer of their points, in fact if gens aren't done destruction points aren't available and it's more difficult to locate survivors. Hense the post that exists right now about a Killer being held hostage by a team who wouldn't touch gens and just hid.

Tunneling, like camping, disables someone from even remotely playing the game. One is very much in line with how the game is intended to be played. One is not encouraged, because it is very toxic for the individual on the receiving end, but not taken out of the game because it can be a valuable resource when a Killer has their back to the wall. This is why so many Killers in this thread have admitted they do tunnel...but mainly if someone else is being toxic. Because most people recognize it's a ######### way to play against your opponent. And the issue is that a lot of Killers don't use it when their back is against a wall or when a survivor is rude. They use is right out of the gate. Which ruins the survivor's match, who waited just as long for a lobby and had just as much right to play the match as the Killer, but ends up with zero points and a depip for no reason.

Also, there is only one way to do a generator. You get on it. You push M1. There are numerous ways to flush out and kill survivors that do not include tunneling. Its 100% a play style choice.

'Because it's easy' is not BS. I try to avoid tunneling straight off a hook, but if I come across 1 uninjured & one injured Survivor later; I'm chasing the injured. It's one less hit to down them, which can be up to 15 less seconds in a chase. It's literally a Big Brain Play.

Why do you think predators go after the weak and infirm? Because it's an easier meal ticket than someone hale and able to fight back or run away.

Just because Survivor's don LIKE that reason does not mean it's not a valid reason. Sorry.

"Why do you think predators go after the weak and infirm"...because in this context they are animals - not humans - and must do so to literally survive. You are a human being, full of all the cognitive abilities animals lack and which are supposed to distinguish you as a higher level being, who is playing a video game. LOL This is a dumb comparison. The same as when people say, "WHAT DO YOU THINK A RAGING PSYCHOPATH WOULD REALLY DO?!?!?"...well, Johnny, that's a great question...but I don't see any actual psychopaths here. Just a regular old person playing video games in the comfort of their own home. 🤨

    Every killer should tunnel.

    https://youtu.be/DHL2tN-bIuA

I would just like to point out that while he is describing this video he actively does not tunnel the Adam, even though he runs right by him after the off-hook and there is only 2 gens left (as he says in the video, you should apparently tunnel if there are 0-3 gens left), and proceeds to death hook someone and second hook others...all the while the last 2 gens remained incomplete. Which is typical. The more people injured and the less people on the map, the more difficult it becomes to meet objectives. He ignored his own logic in the actual background video and was succeeding in the match just fine. This really doesn't serve his point very well. 😂 Also, he should reconsider that 20 minute intro.

It's hontlestly the survivors fault 9 out of 10 times if I'm tunneling. If you're hooked, get unhooked and are dumb enough to stay right there or just turn one corner and start healing or just be really ######### at hiding that's your own fault buddy. See, the git gud logic runs both ways; If you're consistently bad at being elusive you're gonna consistently scream from the end of a meat hook but, on the bright side, you'll have plenty of time to reconsider your playing strategies.

It is always the survivor's fault that a Killer camps and tunnels. 😂

A machine can't differentiate between intentional and unintentional tunneling so your simple solution have to take that into account. With your sistem I would be deranked and happy to stomp survivors that are not prepared enough to deal with me, then I would rank up anyways and the story would start again.

Also there are some justified intentional tunnel, let's say you check a locker for hatchets as huntress and you eat a DS, you have a free hook there. Is there any logical reason to don't hook that person? No it is not.

A curious thing i have realised after playing killer a lot is that survivors only complain about tunneling when that tunneling leads to their death. When I have tunneled survivors that make almost no mistakes, they are never mad about it, even I have found some that press [2 key] after being unhooked to start another chase. I think only low skilled survivors complain about this and it's related to losing and not the tunneling as it is.

No. All survivors hate being tunneled. Skilled and ######### survivors alike. They complain equally.

25% of a normal match would be rational, very. It's only 8k bp,doubt anyone would farm when you get that small amount so I don't see a problem with it. Ofc if bp offerings don't work.

If course ppl would farm it. Zero queue time. Quick matches. No BP cost for items. No headache. It would be immediately abused.

  • Yeah, bad teammates are total balls.

  • This is a weird question. Why don't I get BP for a custom match where I don't spend any resources to have access to everything dbd has to offer, premade, where both sides know each other and could easily just farm? Huh. What?

I’ve been playing survivor a lot more recently after being a killer main for years and notice a hell of a lot of killers that tunnel...

I’m not talking unhooked in front of your face, toxicity etc. I’m talking purposely returning to the unhooked survivor just to hook them again.

So why do you do it? The excuse won’t work of “because it’s easier to 3 v 1” because we both know that’s BS it’s the easy way out instead of learning how to get better at the game.

We all play this game to have fun right? Killers wanna have fun and so do survivors right?

Tunneling somebody off hook isn’t fun for the survivor, it’s equally as frustrating for something that irritates you as killer whether it be body blocking or what not.

A simple solution would be for the devs to implement a ‘No blood point emblem score’ In short if you hook a survivor again within a certain grace period the killer is penalised for it, that being you gain no blood points or emblem for that hook. If they choose to camp that downed body then it gives the other solo and SWF survivors adequate time to do gens It’d derank killers into appropriate brackets until they learn how to play the game properly.

I’m well aware tunneling isn’t considers a “Bad word” by BHVR but I seriously think something should be done on this particular issue

    Agreed.
