Psst...sometimes you actually have to rely on your gameplay to win, not just thinking that rock, paper, scissors with perks will do it for you.
From a killer main who just got spoon fed a loop-annihilating patch with less palettes and windows because your basekit speed boost and high Mobility killer selection wasn't good enough. ๐ OK buddy. ๐

Considering I never see posts here about it, I would guess no. Especially since a lot of ppl run BW and NOED together, leaving NOED to overshadow any hate for BW. LoL

It has happened to me a fair few times and other survivors in the same game as me. A survivor unhooking you right Infront of the killer as soon as you've been hooked. More often than not the killer will down me right away and hook me again and the same process will repeat meaning a quick game for me, and probably the others in that game. Do you as another survivor try to help, stay clear of them, DC, or even as killer do you go for the person who was hooked or the one unhooking?
I don't play much as killer myself, but when I do I will only down an already hooked survivor until I have booked someone different, I don't expect the same when playing survivor, just curious as to what others do.
As Killer, I go for the person doing the unsafe off-hook, as the hooked person has absolutely no control.
As a survivor, there's little you can do. I will try and off-hook with BT if I think it's the safer option, since I run it all the time.

Except it isn't an anti-tunneling perk. That is just one of it's core uses. So it functions exactly as it is supposed to.

Who cares if people hog totems. The totrms are there to be cleansed. If you cleansed it you should get the stack. If someone else brought the perk and never found any..tough luck.
I go around and cleanse all the totems before I work on gens. I dont use inner strength and I don't care if my fellow survivors use it. First come first serve for totems, I say. I don't want to deal with NOED.
I don't see any reason it shouldn't stack.
I really hope I never have the misfortune of playing with you.

Although I completely disagree with people not feeling any obligation to care whether or not the other people in the match enjoy themselves. Or who garner their enjoyment out of the misery of others. Hard pass.
-
Agreed. If the survivor can get back on a gen and start working, they aren't being tunneled. Whoever thinks that doesn't actually know what tunneling is.
Side note: that doesn't mean DS shouldn't work.

Sounds like you meme when you see an opportunity to do so (correct me if I'm wrong). If I notice someone's a meme player I typically go along and fool around during the match allowing everyone to chill as I rarely kill someone if I decide to make it a meme match. I even have an old video sample from nearly half a year ago:
I slugged them within the first 2 minutes (speedrun-4k as usual) but when they were all on the ground they followed me through the map like a snake. It was just funny and unexpected so I ended up farming and letting everyone go.
Long story short: I can play empathetically but people need to do something random and funny otherwise I just do what my chainsaw allows me to do quickly (sometimes).
Sometimes I meme...go play "survivor pig" and "do gens" with the survivors. ๐
Most of the time I play normal, because too much memeing also makes people mad. LUL I just keep an eye on who I'm chasing/hooking and try to spread it out. If I keep crossing paths with the same, sad, injured survivor in what is clearly a group of random, I'll just keep on going and leave them be until they get healed and get back in the game. It's not all kittens and rainbows. Sometimes people mistake my kindness for weakness and try to get my attention with teabagging and flashlight clicking. Those people usually aren't afforded the same niceties. ๐

Yes, my theory is that DBD is just a massive social experiment. ๐

Im sure we've all seen posts claming killer is "stressful". Why keep playing if you get stressed? Your supposed to enjoy playing. why not play survivor or play a diffrent game?
Probably for the same reason I keep playing survivor, even though it can be bash your brains in obnoxious...you know it has the potential to be really fun. Having a great match is euphoric. You are naturally drawn to things that make you feel good. It just sucks that you repeatedly have to wade through unpredictable bullshit to get there. But sometimes the pay off is so sweet. ๐

I agree they didn't need to take away struggle points. You know what I would do as killer? Go around and kick stuff and get extra BP myself. Or find the hatch and close it when it opened. Or spam my ability to get extra Deviousness. I am however extremely happy they killed god loops although that abomination of a map Disturbed Ward is still skulking around.
When I feel like I need to gain some BP, I just play Killer. BP is a lot easier when it's not shared and people can't take you out of a match before you have a chance to do anything. LOL

Woah woah woah hold on buddy. You've been on these forums for long enough right? Do you not remember like 3 months ago how everybody was screaming about the Devs being survivor sided? Do you not see how these forums teeter back and forth? Anytime survivors get a nerf, the Devs are killer sided and any time killers get a nerf they're survivor sided. It never fails. After sitting through the Nurse, Spirit, Freddy, Oni, Ruin nerfs and everything else, I was pretty annoyed myself...but then they hit instaheals and BL and are now working on balancing maps that have been in need of balancing for a LONG time. At this point I think they're just being good Devs. Second class citizens? Come on, you know that's silly.
A glorious year and a half ago this game was more survivor sided. I remember it fondly. I miss my insta-heals and my speedy self care. My toolboxes and my full BNPs. My styptic agents and my hatch stand offs. *dreamy sigh*
But I don't think you can argue that the changes implemented for the last year+ have been in favor of Killers (with a handful of small exceptions, which do not remotely out number the amount of changes that have increased difficulty and decreased fun for survivors). I agree, balance changes were needed. I, too, want Killers to have fun. However, there is no question that all of these changes - mainly aimed at improving Killer's viability against SWF - has cucked the solo and random survivor base really hard. This game is a lot less enjoyable for that segment of player with every patch that has been implemented in the last year. Solos are getting really almost no consideration in this equation, since they lack the advantages of SWF, aren't the root cause of the balance changes, and also make up the largest group of players.
It's definitely not silly. I agree, it's a pendulum, right? It swings one direction and then the other. Right now, it's been swinging in the direction of Killers and ignoring solos for a long time now. When I see a patch that doesn't needlessly take more away from solo survivors (I'm not talking good balance changes like god loops, I'm talking things like struggle points? why? Pointless.), I might retract my thoughts on that. But until then, it's very clear that the most important QoL right now is Killers.

At around 4000 hours I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end on both sides - not gonna lie.
However something I noticed during my time playing DBD is that people mostly act the same no matter how I play so I don't see much of a reason to not play the game the way I enjoy it most.
As killer I really enjoy doing "4k-speedruns" and as survivor I really enjoy running the killer all day while messing with their focus using flashlights.
On a side note lately I've been meeting lots of VERY good sports on both sides.
One survivor recently messaged me saying something like "as soon as I saw the mask (I always wear Meg's face) I knew it was you! gg Bubba Sawyer"
and as survivor some killers gave me hatch after several failed matches as they probably realized all that flashlight clicking is just my desperate attempt of luring them away from my solo queue teammates haha...
Seems like the communty isn't all salty after all. Lots of chill people.
I think I have the most fun when I think everyone is having fun. Maybe I'm just a very empathetic person. LOL
When I play Killer, I enjoy making sure others have a fair shake. I go out of my way not to re-hook the same person twice in a row. I don't camp/tunnel. I don't use NOED or mori or iri addons. If I play a powered up insta-down Killer, I don't slug to maximize my power. Sometimes I opt not to death hook anyone, just to see if I can pip without it. Depends on whether or not I'm playing for fun or playing for dailies. When I get outta the match and everyone has over 22k points and had fun...thats what I enjoy.
When I play Survivor, I love having good chases. I like presenting a challenge, but if the Killer isn't having a good match - as long as I know I'll safety pip, I'll let him down me or even kill me. As will the one person who I play with sometimes, because we figure 2 in 2 out is balance and Killers deserve points/pips too. I don't teabag unless the Killer is being a real asshat on purpose. I don't clicky clicky my flashlights. If I think someone has a daily, I make sure they can get their hits or power up or zaps before I leave, etc. I'll step in a trap on purpose if it seems like Trap Daddy needs his daily. ๐
I have always loved multi-player games and having fun in groups. So, I think my enjoyment stems somewhat from everyone's enjoyment. If I crush someone else and I know if I was in their shoes it would be frustrating or upsetting...that doesn't bring me any joy.
I definitely wish more people played this game like I do. The one thing I will say is that being able to be nice is almost a luxury for survivors. It is admittedly much harder to PIP as Killer. If it were a little more even with survivors, perhaps people wouldn't feel so compelled to be toxic because they could reach their goal while playing a fun, light hearted match. Maybe not. But maybe. ๐

So, with the new patch, survivors can no longer take the game hostage by struggling on hook (Also denying the last survivor/s from their struggle points).
Another way that survivors have been denied of taking the game hostage is by having a timer on when gates open. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of denying people taking the game hostage, but why has this been so survivor-sided?
Killers can slug, facecamp, camp gates which only delays the game.
Survivors can't even loop/run the killer without the game taking the killer's hand and helping them through bloodlust, whereas a survivor gets none of this. I don't understand why the game rewards ######### playstyle/'strategies' on the killers side, but survivors have anything and everything taken away from them.
Because survivors are second class citizens atm. :) You're supposed to be happy they fixed broken window vaulting stutters (not hit priority, just the act of vaulting) and look the other way at all the other changes in this patch that suck a fat one. LOL

@Entity_Hugs said:
Wait, are you upset that, if every Survivor is now hooked, you all die? Are you actually complaining that you can't needlessly delay the game just to spite the Killer?
No one is needlessly delaying the game to spite the Killer. Survivors have every right to be annoyed that Devs obviously care mainly about Killer QoL right now. The last survivor in a match has ALWAYS been cucked. Game is stacked against them. They never got to even kobe (even if they have Deliverance), nor did they get struggle points despite it being their first hook. Which makes no sense and is robbing them of the opportunities every other survivor who died before them had. Instead of fix this issue, they compounded it by robbing everyone in struggle phase who gets hooked of their last points of struggle. All so Killers aren't inconvenienced an extra 60 seconds while winning a match. This is ridiculously stupid. Killers already earn BP at a higher rate than survivors...so what do they do? Take more BP away from survivors. ๐ This was not a broken mechanic in the game. This was not a terrible pain point for Killers. This change was literally just an unnecessary cuck to survivors. Which was really dumb.
-
Devs should just implement most of the fan art for the contest. Its very clear that DBD players are far better at designing attractive cosmetics than some of the games designers. ๐

My longest game was when a Claudette DCed JUST as I hooked her so she could give her Claudette friend the hatch. I knew where the hatch was (the other side of the map) and upon hooking, I saw with BBQ that she was standing right on top of it. So I just stood there and waited for the escape. It never came. I got annoyed because I was certain she was just waiting for me to get near, so she could teabag and make me watch her jump in. So I instead just walked inside the killer shack and stood there for a while. So much time had passed by I finally gave in and went over to the hatch. It wasn't open. The timing of the DC caused the hatch to glitch and now it was sealed shut unless she had a key.
What proceeded next was the longest 30 minutes of my life. One Oni. One Blendette. A very dark map, no blood orbs to collect, and 2 gens left.
The entire match up to that point was maybe 10 minutes long, so by the end of it, I was in this match for almost 45 minutes. The Blendette wouldn't do any gens, show herself, or stay idle for crows. She wanted me to DC. I refused. When I found her, I let her bleed out for the full duration because I was so jaded at that point, and I proceeded to play the NFL theme song for mt stream while she crawled around on the floor. Just as she was about to bleed out entirely, I activated my Cypress Mori. Was that mean? Yes. Did she deserve it? Also yes. Am I proud of my action. Yes.
And you are the reason people are lobbying for a suicide option when slugged. ๐คฃ
-
Recently, my longest match was a Legion. Probably 25 minutes of nothing but mending/healing, mending/healing, mending/healing. They didnt commit to chases and weren't really good at catching people. Just injuring them. *le sigh* their matches are so damn boring.
In the history of my DBD matches, my second longest would be keeping a nurse on a map who insisted on the hard camp/tunnel of my teammates. This was before EGC. She wanted to be spicy and try and end everyone's match prematurely, so I just went super immersive and evaded her until she quit, probably 30 minutes later. I don't promote this, but I also didn't feel bad about it.
Longest would definitely be a hatch stand off. I literally have had a 'test of wills' hatch stand off for 40+ minutes. ๐ I honestly miss it. New hatch is lame and sucked all the fun out of it for survivors.

I track the killer, number of kills, if i escaped, by what means i escaped (gate, hatch, hatch with key), what methods the killer employed (camping/tunneling/mori/noed/instadown (on killers that dont have them per default), as well as the rank range, as well as other comments (one killer told me he was streamsniping the other survivor, as well as dcs, hooksuicide and other means that can falsify the statistic signigicance)
I should have keep score of the map as well, but only start to do that now, because i cant remember the names. I play solo, and are thinking about keeping track of the other survivors perks (like ds, bt, the whole metaperk bunch).
Its quite intresting. My survival rate is between 70-80%, but 100% of my 4k games involved camping and tunneling, often with a mori.
A lot of the 3k games did this as well.noed isnt that often used as i expected. But then, i havnt reached the 100 games mark since the patch yet, and even then the number of games i play are of no statistical significance, and can still be an outlier. But Escapes over 70% takes a lot of stress away, even if you got a number of bad games in a row.
This is really cool. You're inspiring me to get off my arse and get this done. :) It also might cause less frustration if even in an agonizing death I can consider it a "for science!" opportunity to collect data. ๐คฃ

Or to say it differently: I just play/enjoy the game and ignore unwritten rules. If people didn't take the game so seriously no one would feel stress.
I hear you. I understand the concept of "its just a game" or "dont take it too seriously". I think it bothers me because I paid to play a game that I know can be really fun. And I also have a limited amount of time to play. So on nights like last night, where every single match my opponent is playing like you described - with absolutely zero consideration of others and their enjoyment as well - and I'm on the receiving end of it during the only time I had alotted to have a little fun after a long day, it's hard to brush off. If people were just mildly more considerate on both sides, more people could have a lot of fun more often.
-
I don't think I like this.
The percentage is low. This could encourage people to hook farm to get their stack.
It also doesn't matter if you add any time to the second phase if all survivors get hooked, as they all now immediately die when in 2nd phase. Its a waste of time/points.

Survivors: "Don't tunnel!"
Also Survivors: "I'm thirsty for those unhook points, so I'm gonna unhook right in your face every time."
Also survivors 2: "Look! Now the killer is tunneling and camping because he had the nerve to hit me when I unhooked right in their face! I have to run BT and DS now, even though I really just hate to do it. Really don't want to, honest. But now that I'm running them, I'm gonna REALLY unhook right in your face and blame you!"
This scenario is just not a thing unless someone is a troll or you're going against a coordinated SWF with the perks to justify it. I play solo randoms a ton and the number of times people run in before the Killer even has a chance to leave is extremely minimal unless they are an ######### and legit farming you. It's way more likely to be the opposite - they won't run in until every ounce of heart beat is gone. The person on the hook has ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL over being farmed. The killer has ALL THE CONTROL over tunneling a survivor. So if you don't like it when people farm someone off the hook in your face, punish the idiot doing the farming, not the victim of it. ๐

Why did it take a turn for the worst? (serious question)
I usually play both survivor and killer, but survivor way more. At the moment i play killer only for dailys and rift challanges, because killer is way to stressing. So i relax by playing survivor.
As survivor, i started keeping statistics since the patch came out, and this put a lot of things into perspective for me.
Tonight this was my 5th camp/tunnel match in a row. So by turn for the worst, I mean the night started out optimistic and just got progressively less fun with each match. The teabagging camp and tunnel Pig being the cherry atop my camp and tunnel sundae. LOL
I find survivor doesn't have the same opportunity for retribution as Killer, which I think makes it more frustrating for me, even though I like playing it more and am better at it. I play Killer when I want a break but still want to play or feel like the toxicity for survivors has reach a level that requires some niceties to balance it out.
I've thought it would be fun to collect some data on my matches just to see it. I like analytics. I'm just not sure which data points I'd want to collect. What do you track?

If more survivors did not exist, queue times would be so unbearable the game would die.

So... they disagree with you, so you decide their opinion is worthless? That's a great way to debate people...
It's not my fault their opinion was legitimately worthless.
"Facecamping isn't toxic." - I think we all know that something that completely disables a person from playing the game they paid for and queued for, just like you, while eliminating their ability to gain points and tanking their rank - completely outside of their control - is toxic. This isn't even a question up for debate. It's a fact.
"I am a believer that Killers in general are unable to be toxic." - both sides are fully capable of being toxic.Just because someone plays a Killer, which has an inherent sense of immorality, doesn't mean that as a player they cannot perform their functions in a toxic manner. This is a thinly veiled scapegoat for unsportsmanlike behavior, and a pretty pathetic one at that.
"If the Killer is Facecamping, leave them to it and go do gens." - this solution is barely viable and typically results in only 2 people escaping. Even then, they get terrible points and potentially depip because camping eliminates two significant objectives needed to generate points and pips for both side, but effects survivors more because their point structure is shared.
"...everything a Killer does can be countered by competent Survivors." - this is a fallacy. The most competent of survivors cannot do anything to save a teammate against an insta-down, face camping Killer. The idea of "just don't get caught", for how to avoid face camping, is the most ignorant statement someone can make. Killers are designed to catch survivors and survivors are designed to be caught. If the game didn't work this way, it wouldn't be very fun.
Nothing this person said was based in anything other than their own lack of empathy or conscience. I have no interest in really debating a narcissistic sociopath. This is, however, an open forum. Where I have every right to tell them their viewpoint failed to even meet the minimum requirements for consideration. ๐๏ธ

It is your teammate's responsiblity to safely unhook them, not the killer's.
It is your teammate's responsibility to have BT if the killer is still in Terror Radius. If they unhook in front of the killer without BT they carry all the blame. The killer is not responsible for any of this.
It's actually LAZY and SKILLESS for the survivor to just farm their teammates instead of being patient and waiting for the killer to be at a safe distance, or carry with them perks to help their team.
Very rarely do my teammates end up getting tunneled off of hook, because I do it at smart times. You don't just run up braindead and hold M1 or R1 and expect the murderous psychopath to go along with your idea of how HE should play the game.
The blame is on YOU and that must feel bad for a lot of survivors, so they deflect blame.
The Killer is not responsible for any of their actions, apparently.
Except, no. When you play solo survivor, YOU are not your teammates. You cannot depend on randoms to do the right thing and should not have to be victim because of their inability to play well or carry the right perks for their attempted game play. The person on the hook has ZERO CONTROL over what's happening. The survivor off-hooking only has MILD CONTROL over what's happening. The Killer has TOTAL CONTROL over what happens post-off-hook. So yes, A LOT of the onus is on the Killer in this situation.
And you forget that sometimes there is no way NOT to off-hook within the Killer's terror radius when they refuse to go anywhere. Which is super ######### often these days.
I don't disagree...there are idiot people who could have made a safe save and don't. THOSE PEOPLE SHOULD DIE. Not the poor person on the hook - who doesn't know them and had nothing to do with the decision. And it's completely in a Killer's control to make that decision.
No one is deflecting blame. You are ignoring Killers who intentionally camp and tunnel. A killer can leave the radius of the hook, but stay close enough that while the hook animation is taking place they can get back in eyesight of the hook easily and tunnel. Did the survivor wait until it was as safe as it was ever going to bed? Yes. Did the Killer still make a toxic choice to run back to the hook to tunnel, absolutely. This happens every. #########. day.
There is absolutely no comparison between doing gens and tunneling. Tunneling is one of the most toxic and idiotic way to play this game if you want people to continue to play with you. And as much as you clearly immerse yourself in the role of Killer, it's not expecting a psychopath to "go along with your idea", it's expecting another fellow game lover and human being to give a tiny bit of shits about someone other than themselves.

Why is it because someone else acts like a bad apple, the entire bunch gets the blames for it?
Besides that, maybe if a lot of survivors would stop unhooking 10 seconds after the killer walks away, then attempt to heal right under the hook in the ######### open, and then QQ about tunneling, well, maybe they'd get tunneled a lot less in general. I'd never blame a killer for tunneling, when the survivors clearly don't respect the killer's presence or expect the killer to ignore them.
Which is one of the problems I have with DS. DS exists, so survivors expect killers to just ignore them if they just got unhooked.
Are you seriously suggesting that the majority of Killers don't camp and tunnel? Because I can assure you, that is not true. It might not be true for you when you play Killer, but camp and tunnel is standard game play in the vast majority of the matches I am in. There is no one BUT the Killer to blame for tunneling because tunneling is an absolute choice. I don't disagree that sometimes people make idiot decisions and off-hook too quickly. The hooked person has NO CONTROL over that. So what do Killers do? Go for the person who had absolutely no say. It's cheap. Also, when the Killer's presence never dissipates, there is no other option than to let them die or off-hook in front of the Killer. I don't expect Killers to go for someone else when I get off-hooked because of DS. I expect Killers to go for someone else for the exact reason the OP posted about...I care about other people's enjoyment of the game and play that way...so naturally my expectation is that they do the same for me. Which is entirely reasonable. This is a game. It's meant to be fun.

I would play this version of DBD 2.0
