In match: Killers.
Outside the match: Survivors.
That's easy.

If someone false reports me on a game system that takes multiple reports as fact and punishes you for it. Yes they are being entitled.
I mostly play killer but some games I let the crown getters escape sometimes I don't. Only if I find a crown with a survivor in chase or, carrying them to a hook are they gauranteed to go.
As low ranked survivor no killer let anyone just walk for free nor are they supposed to or did I expect it. You sound incredibly upset that others are not playing like you which I dont fully understand since it is a 2 week long event and not a single day event. Besides it takes (some) work to find the crown it isnt just put in their inventory and if therevwas a kill or hooking requirement everyone knows the forum complaints would still flow in probably moreso since survivors could actively try and deny the killer their permanent cosmetic.
I hate to point out the obvious here...but if you had just been decent to people who were decent to you...trying to do the same thing you entered the match to do only they have to work MUCH harder for it than you did...you wouldn't have that problem.
I am a PC player, so this is a non-issue for Killers on my platform. Someone can report people all day - it doesn't do anything. 😂 And no, I dont condone him reporting you for being selfish...but that doesn't make him entitled just because he wants what you got FOR FREE and he worked hard for during that match while being a decent opponent. You think for one event week you could stop and think about people other than yourself?Maybe?
Please don't tell me it's work to find a crown. You are why survivors should just get the crown for "doing the work" to find the pillar also, without having to escape. There's no reason why Killers should get it FOR FREE, deny it to survivors, and then you come in here and claim SURVIVORS are ENTITLED.
-
I played 4 survivor matches tonight with a friend and all of them were pretty decent, actually. I was surprised - pleasantly. I thanked everyone for the "anniversary gift". LOL
-
"But tunneling is fundamentally the best decision a killer can choose to make if they want to win the game."
False - you can win this game (IE: pip up) without killing ANYONE in a match if you play well. The circumstances in which Killers NEED to tunnel are very limited, yet it is abused almost every match starting with the first survivor.
"3 survivors are obviously a lot easier to deal with than 4. And with gen speeds being what they are most killers, especially those who struggle in chases, cannot afford to let survivors live longer than they have to."
This is a 4 v 1 game. If you cannot play against 4 people, then go play something else. No one deserves to have their game ruined because a Killer finds that fourth person to be too cumbersome to allow them to play the same. Gens have never been slower or easier to get to than they are RIGHT NOW for Killers.
"Thus, we have a very serious design flaw in this asymmetric game. The most beneficial action for one side, completely ruins the experience of the other."
This is true. Tunneling is a huge problem and the allowance of it is a design flaw. This current event is a prime example why.
"It gives a safety net that catches a survivor no matter if the killer was actually tunneling or not."
And? This is exactly how this perk was INTENDED to work.
"Since DS can only have its timer activate 2 times per game survivors are highly encouraged to play aggressively, giving bad survivors a free escape if they accidentally run into the killer, and good survivors 60 seconds of what is existentially invincibility, by exploiting lockers and grabs."
DS only works 1 time per match. And yes, it states literally ON the perk itself "There's nothing to be afraid of"...it's intended to allow survivors to play bold for 60 seconds. Whether they are good or bad. It also is not "invincibility"...it's a 5 second stun that elongates a chase, AT BEST.
"Slugging doesn't help in the slightest, since Unbreakable exists."
Unbreakable is not that common of a perk. So slugging should help, considering a large swath of survivors don't run it.
"And make no mistake, eating the stun is an option. But all that does is encourage the killer to go after the person who just stunned them since they know that person no longer has DS, while the rest of their team still might."
Which is fine...the more time that person can waste of the Killer's - the better off their team will be for it.
"The end result of this, a perk designed to stop tunneling, is just encouraging the killer to tunnel more. It rewards bad survivors for messing up, gives good survivors temporary god-status, and doesn't even solve the actual problem with tunneling still being the most viable way to play killer."
This perk isn't designed to stop tunneling. Stopping tunneling is one of its most common and best uses, yes. But it was designed to allow survivors to make a variety of bolder plays within the confines of 60 seconds after getting off the hook. To that end, it works exactly as intended and functions perfectly. It doesn't "reward" bad survivors for "messing up"...it allows less skilled survivors to get back in the game. And no survivor gets "god status"...this is ridiculous verbiage. It gives decent survivors use of a 5 second stun for 60 seconds after getting off hooked one time in a match.
I love that you made this entire thread and explanation and not once did you actually offer a better solution, but you're extremely quick be critical of BHVR.
Anyone who has to tunnel every match to win needs to spend more time trying to improve their game play. That is sad.
-
Are you serious?
You had a totally good match. Survivors didn't bring any second chance perks or "toxic" items. So again, a great match FOR YOU. YOU got YOUR cosmetic without having to do ANYTHING AT ALL. And you have the AUDACITY to call the SURVIVOR entitled???
No, sir. You are being handed something FOR FREE that they DID work for. Maybe try BEING KIND during a ######### holiday event, you total Scrooge. If 2 in and 2 out is balance...and you had a GREAT MATCH anyway...perhaps you could have just, idk, been a bro and let two of the sparkly people go, since it was just a "fun" and "casual" game.
I played 5 hours of no-kill killer today because of people like you.
-
Based on the Killer matches Ive had today, I'm gonna go with no for me. LOL
-
Thats how they want it to be. It was changed to be this way. LOL

Just give us a perk that pauses hook progression whenever the killer is near the hook (let´s say.. kindred range) and NOT in a chase. There.. it´s fixed. Don´t even need to be survivor base kit.
I´m just saying that because I´ve been going against a lot of hard campers. I know the "counter" is doing gens but whoever is on hook is not having a great time, is it? And also, do we need more toxicity in this game? Give us a proper chance to fight it with a perk instead of giving us trash situational perks like blocking gens (repressed alliance)..
No @ a perk.
A camping deterrent needs to be built into the game. I am not wasting ANOTHER perk slot on a perk they will nerf and nullify eventually anyway, like DS/BT.

Hate to sound like a whiny survivor main, but the killers today have been sooo sweaty and toxic. I was really excited for this event, and game after game killers are tunneling teammates, slugging until we bleed out instead of hooking, basement camping. I've been with the game since summer 2016, and consider myself an above average survivor and I've only been able to escape 1 time today with a crown out of 15ish rounds. Super frustrating that the killer gets rewarded for basically just not disconnecting, while survivors have to escape despite this behavior from killers.
Yep, not cool.
Been playing Killer since 3pm PST, letting every survivor escape, to try and do my little part to help people enjoy the event. Figure I'll give it a go on my survivors when my friend logs on sometime tonight. 🤷

with new crown event (and most of the events in past year) the game became hard to impossible as solo surv.
i just finished 10 matches. survived one only thanks to the key i had and finally got my nea crown..
amazing! but at white price - i had to play selfishly and be unhelpful and it sucks (same with dwight the brave and few more)..
before i used the key method - every match looked like this: we enter, no one doing gens, all look for crown, get hooked 1 time and suicide...
thats 9 out of 10 matches i played right now as SOLO surv.
so all this years and we got to the 4th anniversary and solo survivors cry still fall on deaf ears.
what you think is the reason devs ignore solo survivors and only focus on SWF?
They focus on changes that effect SWF for the good of Killers and their play experience. Unfortunately when you tune a game to the strongest, but smaller group within your player base...the weakest and largest group gets left behind. But, Killers are needed to play this game. So their QoL has to be enjoyable too. Its a conundrum they have failed to really balance. After the major map patch, I actually felt like it wasn't nearly as bad for solo survivor as I thought it would be. It was tougher but not impossible and if that made the Killer experience better, thats great. But after the last patch and this event...I can't even. Solo survivors are a seriously neglected part of this game. Which is crazy. They are the largest part of the player base and just as necessary as Killers to keep the game alive.

And a few threads like this where good people are trying their best to off-set it. LOL I dont think "most" killers are going to be nice and friendly. Thats not really a Killer M/O. Killers gotta kill after all, right? 😉

Well that was an aggressive reply considering I was just answering the OPs question...and I don't run either of these perks rn?
-
Allowing an interrupt would make keys pointless. Also, keys are used far less than moris. They just aren't a rampant issue, and the only survivor item left that hasn't been nerfed to #########. And they take more effort to use than a mori.
I dont really have an issue with moris, but neither keys or moris should count toward kill or escape challenges/dailies unless the challenge/daily specifically calls for using the item to complete it. And TBH, challenges/dailies requiring those items shouldn't exist. Super tired of getting multiple tunnel moris a day because somebody has a 'challenge'.

Do you think this is really the whole reason they came out with the crown concept? To finally have this moment? 😂

I'm for them buffing some of the killer sided ones so long as Cowshed gets neuters further, haddonfield gets changed, they shrink mother's dwelling, and yamoaka gets deleted. All those maps but cowshed i hate as survivor too, so I'll be very happy with them being changed.
Yamaoka deleted?! The only map I felt like they could delete and no one would care is Ormond. IMO that whole DLC could disappear. LOL

I play plenty of survivor. When I am BMed by the killer, my 3 other team mates escape, because I can effectively stall the killer for enough time for them to escape. You're right, the killer can BM survivors, but the killer can only BM 1 survivor at the cost of having the 3 other survivors escape. Inversely, every survivor can effectively BM the killer with very little to no cost to them or the game. The game gives survivors enough perks and safe areas that they do not need to play efficiently to successfully evade the killer and escape. Every single second counts to the killer, the same is not true for survivors.
This is cute, but the first part is also false. Unless you play low rank/skilled Killers...then maybe.
I will say you are right though, survivors aren't as pressured as Killers when it comes to time efficiency. They are pressured in other ways. That is the nature of the two different roles; two different objectives. But in no way can survivors actually use any BM that has a real effect on the game more so than Killers.

Too bad that this game gives survivors enough second chances and free space to roam that they can safely BM while the killer either has to break the pallet, or go around an inefficient wall. Everything that the killer can do to BM survivors is either limited severely, or just outright bannable, yet nothing is done to limit teabagging or flashlight clicking or any of the other myriad things survivors can do to rub it in the face of the killer. The very few things that the killer can do to BM survivors will severely cost them precious time, because apparently the game can't be balanced around 5 gens and it has to be balanced around 3 gens.
I think it would be very revealing for BHVR to go out and ask gamers who don't necessarily play DBD what their thoughts on DBD are and what they've heard about it, you'd have a lot of important information as to why your competitors in this genre are starting to gain ground on you. Taking opinions of people who play this game would be redundant, as these forums show, every day, what the playerbase thinks of this game.
Everything a killer can do to bm is difficult or bannable?? You clearly don't play survivor if this is your opinion. Maybe you should. Might give you some more ideas. 😂

That's under the assumption that it's the killer's game to win, which it isn't. Chasing that toxic survivor even for a few seconds could waste precious time and momentum. Every match for killer is a race against time. People would not complain about toxic survivors if said survivors had a low escape rate, but the sad truth is they usually escape. So no, in 90% of circumstances there is no 'dealing with' tbaggers. They act toxic, get away with it, rinse and repeat. That is why, as a former killer main, I only play killer for challenges now.
This is silly.

You do have a point.
At the end, those who want to be toxic will find a way, best option is to ignore.
If they are being toxic, I whole heartedly support murdering their face. 👍 Had a Meg yesterday on Haddonfield who started the game by paletting the killer and flashlight blinding them several times out of the gate. I predicted they would die just for being purposely annoying. They did. Everyone else lived. 😂 I mean, by all means use your flashlight... But use it wisely. LoL
-
They should add it as something you earn in the tome. Fill in some of those doodoo blank spots with content they already have. Lol
-
To be fair, that's a map very easy to 3 gen and a killer very optimal for that map. I can see where it would be super frustrating.
I always try and knock out mid gen first. But even so, gens are hard to find and it's easy to get turned around.
Not your fault tho. But I do empathize with their plight.
-
I agree that what is called genrushing here in the forums isn't really a thing. It's survivors doing gens normally.
IMO, genrushing would be survivors bringing Engineers toolboxes with BNP and Wire Spool, bringing gen speed perks, and coordinating to get at least the first gen done in no time at all. But this isn't typically what anyone who uses the term means. They just mean survivors touch gens 🤷♀️
To your point, what's the alternative? LoL
I think genrushing could be used to describe the latter situation above, but it's typically used to describe any time survivors just work on gens, sans tools or perks. Which makes it seem like a made up term with no significance.

I don't think it is an Adept challenge. Those challenges only to require you to get a 3k with Legion or Huntress's perks. You don't even need to get a 4k and you can use any Killer that has the correct perks unlocked. I think those players just looked at the required perks and immediately thought "Adept" without looking at the rest of the requirements.
One did specifically say they only needed a 3k. And still brought a tunnel mori to do it. A mori shouldn't award anyone a challenge/daily. Especially if the challenge/daily isn't specifically to use a mori. Not that those challenges should exist either.

Actually, it's quite easy to fix flashing click spam. Make it so "if a flashlight is used multiple times in a row within less than 1 sec, it consumes X amount of it's battery".
Flashlights retain the same function which it was designed for, but it will run out of batteries really fast if you "click it" multiple times in a row.
It's not rocket science, it only requires the devs not to be biased to fix shitt up.
But why would they do that? Sometimes people use clicky specifically to get the Killers attention and draw them away from someone/something...which is a legitimate strategy.

This comment was brought to you by salty survivor main Brightened. Thanks for your time. <3
EDIT: THIS POST IS ALL MATTERS OF PERSONAL OPINION. DO NOT START TRASHING ANYONE OR I WILL REPORT YA 😁
Yesterday I had two tunnel mori Legions. Both of their excuse was, "it's for my adept challenge".
Tell me...how is one "adept" at any Killer by bringing an offering that reduces your actual workload down to 30ish percent. LOL How is that a "challenge"? It's dumb.
They really just need to get rid of the toxic ass dailies/challenges and/or stop counting a mori toward completion of the 'challenge'...especially if the purpose of the challenge is to be difficult and show some actual skill with that Killer.

As a constant red rank for the past 2 years, killer and survivor main. Whenever I play killer I constantly fight these red ranks clicky click toxic t-bagging swfs. The newest weapon to their arsenal is Repressed Alliance. I am a rank 1 clown main who tries his best to play fair, no camping, no tunneling, ect. Every game I play nowadays is full of blocked gens to counter my Ruin and PGTW. After 2.5k hours I don't see how anyone could resist the urge to tunnel these dirty swfers abusing their op second chance perks. I hope someone at BHVR reads this and understands they need to stop being so survivor biased. This is why the survivor queues are so long, I don't know how much longer I can keep playing this game. I'm sure there's many other people following my lead.
Kind of a rich post considered in the same patch they came out with a Killer (not a perk slot, a basekit Killer) who nullifies two perks designed to help alleviate some of the most obnoxious game play in the game. This game and the devs havent had survivor bias for A WHILE. Also, idk what platform you play on but survivor queues are quick for me. Just recently the forum has been complaining about Killer queues. If you need a break, take one. 7 days to die is pretty fun and relaxing. 😂
-
You could say it rewards a Killer for not doing their job.
Or you could say it penalizes Survivors for not doing their secondary objective.
Personally, when NOED goes off (and especially if it hits me), I am typically pissed at my team - not the Killer. I tend to get at least 2 totems in a match. So if no one else does their part and we get hit with NOED, thats a survivor problem.
The only caveat to this are people who camp and force genrush. Those people have a special place in hell.
-
From what I saw, hitting people on the hook was removed to address auto aim issues where killers would waste a hit hitting the hooked survivor and not the off-hooker when someone was off-hooking in their face. Not something intended to stop toxicity.
-

How about this: At least allow the killer to know when he is playing against an SWF team, or change the SFW to five people and let the SWF team figure out who gets to be killer. Survivors have plenty of advantages once the game starts without the benefit of communication with each other. Just a thought. Its not fun from a Killer perspective to hear two of your gens pop off because the person your chasing is either really good or really bad and dropping every pallet on the map before you. Honestly, try running the Ski Lodge against an SFW and see how long it takes you to down one survivor.
No - Killers would dodge lobbies. Its the same reason survivors don't get to see their Killer.
5-person groups who have to decide who the Killer is is called KYF and it already exists. LOL

I stopped playing for a month a little while ago. The only "remotivator" was playing it with my friend. Right now, I just started collecting match stats for my own info...so that's a motivator.

Um, I play a mean Claudette, sir. I do not appreciate this at all! 🧐
I think newbs do tend to play her a lot because she comes with the base game (no extra $$ required), a heal ability, and is inherently better disguised on most maps. Unfortunately, if you ONLY play immersive, you never learn to properly loop and quick decision making on the fly.
But not ALL Claudettes are bad. 😣

I think it takes away their significance and any reason to actually try and earn them. Pretty sad.

Not exactly 10 seconds, but a gen can be quickly done with brand new parts, charges add ons, prove it theyselfs, while using the fastest toolbox
So it's just a bit of exaggeration.
I dont disagree, people who rock rare toolboxes with BNPs and Wire Spools can complete gens quick, but they can only do it once. And this is very rare, in my experience as a solo player. The most common item IME is a med kit.
Prove Thyself wouldn't have sped up their gen, just nullified the efficiency penalty survivors have for working together.
I'm sure this was irritating, but you're gonna be fine.
When I play Trapper, I assume survivors are going to pop 1-2 gens while I set up. Don't sweat it. As soon as you start getting people on hooks the snowball effect turns the game around pretty quickly.

The perk is meant to be an anti tunneling perk not a get-out-of-jail-free perk.
It's not an anti-tunnel perk.
It's meant to work this way.
It doesn't need any rework.
-
Blocking for other survivors is not toxic. Its actually a specific way to generate points. DS was designed to enable survivors to make bolder players - like tanking hits.
Survivors using it for purposes other than tunneling is not 'abuse'. Contrary to the second sentence of this post, survivors here do not consider it an "anti-tunnel perk"...because it isn't EXCLUSIVELY an anti-tunnel perk. That is a phrase used by Killers to argue why it should be nerfed because it works in other scenarios besides tunneling.
Is there any Killer perk that works this way? That after a Killer uses their perk (a one time use perk, no less), survivors get 40/50/60 seconds of buff toward their objectives? I can't think of any but I'm not a Killer main, so I'd be interested to know.
There is nothing wrong with DS as it currently is. It really doesn't need a rework. But I appreciate that you gave it thought and wanted to propose something that wouldn't completely gut the perk like a lot of the suggestions I've seen.
-
Agreed.
I appreciate the fact that even though they were healing at the cage, you didn't tunnel the Meg. It's really nice to hear someone not only 4k by playing a good, fair match - but to do it on a new Killer to them. That's awesome. :)
-
As a big 'ol survivor main advocate, I think camping and tunneling in end game is pretty much the only time its understandable. This isn't that toxic, especially since the Cheryl could have easily escaped. Even with your initial hit, if Dweet had taken it, off-hooked with BT, and let Nea take the gate hit, they could have escaped.
It is upsetting to be camped to death - and frustrating to watch someone get camped to death. But, its also your last opportunity to secure any kills and you have nothing else to do during that point of the match. All three survivors could have escaped through the other door.
This was totally fine.
-
I typically run zero healing perks and just bring one of my bazillion doodoo brown medkits for the off chance I cant find a friend or a chest. So I guess every game I typically bring some form of self heal.
