Don't play in a way that makes people want to face a penalty more than play a match with you and you'll be fine. :)

Been an issue since release, devs response to it is rather luke warm 'iTs PaRt Of ThE gAmE'.
It's a bannable offence on this forum to suggest leaving a game with a sweaty killer who tunnels, so I won't do that 😀

Today I played on Silent Hill map, I get this map too often. Its new, and Im already tired of it. Two rooms are without a single pallet or window, exit gates are literally in front of each other. When I play as killer, I hate when I hear a gen being done right above me, and I can't find a way up there. Pain to navigate.
Yeah, I hope this is the last indoor map for a while.

And you want it both ways.
Every time someone asks why it's ok for them to chase someone off a gen and then get hit by DS you say, "It's not anti-tunneling so it doesn't matter.....but you're also tunneling, so you deserved it!"
But nothing about what you said is "having it both ways".
DS is not an anti-tunnel perk. Thats not a survivor mandate. Its a developer mandate. Just because it can be used post-hook for people who DO tunnel, doesn't mean it is exclusively an "anti-tunnel" perk, nor was it intended to be used solely for that purpose.
The fact remains, most often it does go off because a Killer is tunneling people. Is that the ONLY case, no. Is that the MOST COMMON case, yes.
So, survivors who say both those things are correct in both cases.

After the Meg gets unhooked, every survivor gets chased and downed, and one of them is hooked. 59 seconds later, DS still hits. How is this still considered an anti-tunnel perk?
It is not.
If you spend any time in these forums, you would know it is NOT an anti-tunnel perk and never has been.

As i said, its for m1 killer, so its for any killer that doesent have a direct help in his chase with his power.
Except every killer has a power that closes gaps with survivors. Nothing about what you said is accurate to how matches play out. This is not reality. Again, you made a scenario and now you're mad about it. You are mad at yourself.
-
The new map is definitely more killer sided than survivor sided. But I gather neither side enjoy it. They should really consider some reworking.
-
Someone posted a bunch of "DS/BT" alternative builds they like the other day. I tried them out. Of all of them, I liked this one the best:
Poised, Lithe, Adrenaline, Quick and Quiet
Adrenaline did not come in clutch in any of the matches I tested it in, so I might swap that out for something like spine chill/kindred/iron will, but all in all I did well with this build and enjoyed it.
-
Killer queues on PC, IME, have always been longer than survivor (maybe because I play solo, so its easier to find a spot for one than many). Probably because this game is utter trash as a survivor rn and ppl are busy playing fun games. 😉
-
He said that because it literally happens every single DLC. Not really cookie worthy. LOL

@LastShoe said:
So, ive decided to do some math. Something very simple, find the time required for the killer to get 1 hit, depending on how close you will get, before survivor starts running in a straigth line.
I will talk about 18m, its a reasonable distance, for a m1 killer.
So if they are just running it will take you 30 seconds to hit them once.
If they had sprint burst it will take you 40 seconds .
If they happen to palletstun and, but they dont have sprint burst it will take you 40,5 seconds.
If they have sprintburst and they will happen to palletstun and it will take you 50,5 seconds.
What about the second hit? Let's say that survivor will get 12m adventage after you hit them.
Then it will take you 20 second to down them.
So no, let's say you were pretty lucky and found the first survivor in 10 seconds and downed them near the hook, so it took you only 5 seconds to hook them.
Now it took you "only" 75,5 seconds to down baby meg, who was running in a straigth line.
Let's summarise. 3 generators are 3/4 done, while you downed 1 survivor.
Let's say 2 kills and 2 escapees is a balanced match.
It means that you need at least 6 downs, so it will take you 453 seconds.
If you are swapping between 2 survivors and hooked person is rescued and healed immadiately survivors can finish 4,5 gens.
After that, survivors will have enough time to finish the last gen and open the exit gate before you can get 3rd kill.
What does that mean?
It's simple, this game is balanced... if you are a tunneling #########.
#IThinkWeDidAPrettyGoodJobSoFar
I never tunnel on a killer. I usually get a 4k when I play killer. Your seconds don't equate to actual game play. Your disgusted by a scenario you made up in your head. In essence, you are disgusted with yourself. Good job. 😂

Gotcha - I agree with your statement tho. Focusing on rank as killer can feel a little toxic sometimes.

Welcome.
I don’t get how folks say they don’t enjoy dbd. It’s hard really hard to do well sometimes, but it’s fun. Focus on blood points and not pips and it’s great.
once you let go of rank this game is great. Also not every post game chat is toxic it’s just a few bad apples that spoil the pie.
I assume you play Killer? Because focusing on BP as a survivor can be just as depressing as focusing on rank. 😂

Nothing wrong with a mori just as there is nothing wrong with a key. It’s part of the game and if it happens then queue up again and suck it up.
Mate don’t feel bad for bringing a mori. Even if you only kill one person because they are a serious loop group then the mori has done it’s job.
you’ll get salt, abuse, moaning. You also get taunted if you fail to kill anyone with it, but it doesn’t matter. You are not responsible for anyone else’s fun.
I’m not saying go out there and grief people but a mori is part of the game. Use it if you want, just the same as keys.
also not all swf are out to bully people but it can feel like it sometimes.
He is describing griefing SWF groups...so...

@DrSlaughter22 said:
I honestly think the Mori/ Key mechanics should be reworked.
On the killers end, just hook someone once them tunnel them down and mori them. Not fun to go against, and it feels cheep to play.
Keys and the hatch also seems cheep too. Survivors can escape prematurely just because they have a key and happen to come across the hatch. also during the end of the game, if either the killer or survivor find the hatch first, chances are they are the one to win the game.
My issue is that keys and moris aren't comparable.
As you stated...you can tunnel mori someone immediately out of the game. I've had bad spawn RNG and a trolly teammate who worked with the killer that enabled me to be killed within 2 minutes of the game starting. I got less than 2k points. I never actually got to play the match at all.
Keys on the other hand cannot be cheesed. You have to do more work the more people who are alive. 4 people alive...you have to do 100% of the gens. 3 people alive...you have to do 80% of the gens. 2 people alive...you still have to do 60% of the gens to escape.
As you stated, the hatch should be a 50/50 shot...but it's not. It used to be. Its not anymore. Its now extremely killer sided. The killer has more opportunity to find the hatch as they traverse the map. They can move freely around the map when its open to find it much faster than a survivor who is basekit slower than they are but also has to stay hidden, which makes them even slower. If a survivor and killer come to the hatch at the same time, the killer standing NEAR the hatch will disable them from being able to enter...even though if a survivor is standing ON the hatch a killer can still close it. And if they hit their action button at the same time the killer's action takes priority. Keys NEED to exist to be able to reopen the hatch in this very unbalanced situation, when someone has had the forethought to bring one or gotten lucky enough to find one.

Honestly it's just the way it is, ttv is usually rewarded with extended games where I try to make it a scary intense game without using meta gameplay but swf….you get hooked once and I proxy camp, sure I wont pip but it beats depipping, thankfully BHVR has been really generous with red moris , I get bullied enough by high rank survivors so having this crutch, while it may be a crutch, is a much needed bandaid to lack of diverse ranks. Watching twitch streamers you'll see the excellent communication where the killer's location is always known so there's no point and trying to play by any honor system because you're already fated to be completely wrecked.
So you tunnel mori people because they want to have fun playing a game with their friends? Kind of an ######### move, bruh. But whatever. You do you.
-
I recently tested this, because I felt like Killers do get more moris than survivors get keys (that will actually open the hatch).
I decided that an ultra rare and rare key would count as a key (obviously), but not a green key since it doesn't open a black lock. I also counted the combination of a Weaved Ring/Milky Glass as a key - since they allow you to keep the key in any circumstance and this would pit 3 possible versions of a survivor item vs. 3 possible versions of a killer item.
I counted all levels of moris, since they all allow you to kill someone.
What I found was that if you just counted them up this way...keys vs. moris...yes, you do get more moris in a blood web. What I didn't find, however, is that you get more ebony moris than keys. While I only got 3 keys (including the addon combo) but 8 moris total...only 3 of the moris were ebony.
So, in terms of ebony moris vs. keys...they actually seem fairly evenly matched from this small test.
This was tested using 1MM BP on both a fully leveled survivor on a fresh blood web, and a fully leveled killer on a fresh blood web.
-
Yeah, this game has gotten less and less enjoyable with every patch. BHVR is slowly but surely killing this game for me. It used to be fun. Every once in a while you get a match where people play so everyone can have fun...and it reminds you how it used to be. That is pretty much what keeps me playing occasionally rn, but I don't play nearly as much as I used to. It used to be my main game and I streamed it. I quit streaming altogether because I can't play it for more than an hour or so. It's just gets more frustrating than anything. I hold out hope they will eventually restore it to its former glory...at least the enjoyment side of it. But I'm not particularly confident that will happen. Just waiting for someone else to make a similar game with better execution.
-
If I have a match, as survivor, where the Killer played completely fair and just had a difficult go of it, I always offer myself up as a sacrifice. I want Killers to pip and get pts too and typically I know I've pipped. But you are right, sometimes they just want you to leave.
I have to assume its the same as when a Killer camps/tunnels all my teammates to death like an astronomical tryhard sweat, and then tries to give the last person the hatch. I never want a pity hatch. I don't want a burst of kindness/empathy in the last 10 seconds of the game...I want a fun, fair game the entire way through or nothing at all.
-
Agreed. I think the map is gorgeous in the way it looks. I love all the little thoughtful animations, sounds, and interactions with the environment itself. But the map, from a game play and maneuverability perspective is just so terrible. I avoid it at all costs.

You can play killer without being rushed at from Survivors with DS active, i love it so much.
Not tunneling a lot, not camping at all.
The difference is huge though.
I mained Oni before and you got DSed after hooking two other people it was insane.
Thx for making killer fun again, it may be just 1 out of 20 but I dont care.
I have an average of 2 DS in my games (Rank 1 PS4) and its just nice to see people not getting something out of their meta perk.
Just had a Game against a SWF who overcommited on gens. They wanted them get done sooo badly even if im in their face, but bad luck for them i can hit them all at once now.
PH is a killer that does fine against death squads.
I have to say that I think im pretty good with his range attack, so many people say hes not that good.
I think hes like A Demogorgon with the abillity of fast hooking and countering half of the meta perks.
A Tier killer for me, dont care if its a C for you guys ;)
out of all my games I only had two times where I got no one, I dont think I ever did a 1k, some 2ks and because of whispers never a 3k. roundabout 40 4ks i guess with some of them at 5 gens because they overcommited on the first one.
I LOVE HIM actually pretty good job this time.
Now nerf OoO and get haddonfield and ormond fixed and maybe I will start losing to people better then me and not because they ran meta perks and bad map design.
It is a joy!
Thank you for clarifying that PH is unbalanced with a 4k rate of 80% against even the strongest survivor team setup. Good to know. Enjoy it while it lasts. :)

Hillbilly is one of skill-based and balanced killers. Actually Hillbilly is my favorite killer to play on and aganist. A decent survivor will loop a good Hillbilly player without a doubt, but low skill players continue crying that he is op. I have played lots of matches where I downed all survivors in a few minutes because survivors were such noobs (at rank 1 btw) and then they cried that Hillbilly is op. Also I played matches where I chased one survivor, and after a few minutes all gens were done, and everybody escaped. This is why I said think that Hillbilly is the most balanced killer in DBD. If a strong Hillbilly player played aganist strong survivor team, he will not kill more than 2 survivors. But if a strong Hillbilly player versed a noob team, everybody will die in a few seconds. And I don't understand why BHVR want to nerf him.
Is he getting a nerf? I don't really see any issues with HillBilly as he's been.

The only way a face camper gets even decent points if the rest of the team starts throwing themselves in to make saves and starts doing 1 for 1.
If you just hammer gens and leave the campers get like 7k plus max one BBQ for about 10k points whereas even “losing,” a normal game as killer I get 20k+ plus 4 stacks of BBQ so I get 40-60k a game
I don't disagree with anything you've said.
This doesn't equate to any variety of punishment for the Killer. Nor does it deter people front face camping.

But now you guys cry because your ,,anti tunneling" perks dont work. Oh boi, get off of the forums. Glad you got jailed.
DS is not an anit-tunnel perk. But it is one of the only recourses for tunneling available. Kind of hard to see where you don't understand that distinction or why breaking part of its functionality is unacceptable.

You waste time doing everything in the game, including gens and bones. Why complain now that's not in your favor?
I don't know how you could think this was an intelligible argument. You don't 'waste time' doing gens, you invest time into doing those things to win a game. Your time is wasted when you wait to play a game and your opponent has the capability of disabling you from doing that as intended by the game's design. But you already knew that - or at least I hope so. Otherwise...yikes.

At this point I think I should just change my name to "survivor main", because then maybe people would stop accusing me of being a killer main.
I've been camped before. It sucks, sure, but that's losing for you. You know what sucks infinitely more? Teammates not doing anything to punish the killer for camping. They all crouch around the hook like vultures, even if I have Kindred, hungry for those unhook points.
If the killer is somewhere, you should want to be somewhere else. That's what you signed up for when you clicked on "Play survivor", to be in a situation where another party is more powerful than you.
- You are not entitled to play however you want regardless of the situation.
- You are not entitled to gain a certain amount of BP.
- You are not entitled to make use of your add-ons.
- You are not entitled to make use of your offerings.
- You are not entitled to pip.
This is a PvP game. Yes, some strategies you will face are going to be boring. Yes, you will lose sometimes. If you're losing all the time to those boring strategies, then equip different perks. I recommend trying stealth builds instead of second-chance perks, they work wonders for me.
I don't disagree with you that doing gens is currently the only thing to do in this situation. That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that THAT being the ONLY thing anyone can do is un-#########-acceptable. There are many things in games and in life that are currently 'the way' things are done - it doesn't make them the best way or the right way or mean that they shouldn't be changed to something better for everyone. Change is the only true constant and this is one of those things that's needed changed for A LONG time.
If I am not entitled to play however I want regardless of the situation - why are Killers?
Why am I not entitled to an OPPORTUNITY to EARN BP in a game because someone else has a cheap/easy way to incapacitate me for the entirety of my lifespan by being a complete #########?
Why should I have my items wasted because, again, a total ######### decided I shouldn't get the opportunity to play the game - and for some reason BHVR thinks its ok to put that choice in the hands of someone else.
Why should I have my offerings wasted because, again, a total ######### decided I shouldn't get an opportunity to play the game - and for some reason BHVR thinks its ok to put that choice in the hands of someone else.
Why should I have to DEPIP because someone decided to be a total ######### and remove my ability to EARN a PIP?
The answer is I shouldn't. I shouldn't have to deal with these things because you are RIGHT, this is a PVP game and in PVP games it is typically skill vs skill. And there is absolutely no skill in camping/tunneling people to death. It can be done against any survivor, by any killer, at any rank. It's broken.
I'm glad you're a survivor main who plays around this. I hope that works wonders for you. It doesn't make this any less bullshit and it doesn't negate the fact that devs making this EVEN EASIER is ruining the game for thousands of people. It is not remotely ok.
-
Show me where a developer has specifically state that if you pip, you have won the game? I will concede on this immediately. ;)
Also, while pipping is nice, it is not the currency of this game. So you could certainly argue other forms of 'winning'.
Face camping is unhealthy. And it can depip you, but its not guaranteed for the aforementioned reasons. And the fact remains that this is not a deterrent, nor to Killers themselves consider this a loss.
-
I have wanted them to implement an in-game ban system for YEARS. It would be so nice. <3 But not for items. Just for people.

It's a cheap "get out of jail" card that punishes killer for doing their job. Survivors that use this only have it because they can't properly avoid the killer.
And people say it's to combat tunneling, but tunneling is a myth, as it's just a legit strategy since it's always better to go after the hooked survivor since they're injured. gen rushing is what dbd should combat.
All killer aura perks and insta-down perks/addons/offerings should be removed from the game. They're a cheap get out of jail free card when the killer can't find or down you because survivors are doing their job by being immersive and looping.

pips are what determine a win or loss. If you camp you won't pip. Everyone who actually plays will outrank all the facecampers.
No, its your personal opinion that PIPs are what determine a win or a loss. And the idea that you cannot camp and pip is fallacy. I am a red rank survivor, red rank killers camp. So your logic is very easily flawed. FACE camping is the least rewarding type of camping in the game...IF the survivors don't try and be altruistic (which, btw is their main generation of BP in addition to interacting with the Killer). A killer can still easily pip if they do...or if they are just smart enough to proxy instead of face camp because they'll get numerous hooks out of making a 17m circle around a single hook. So the whole idea that it is in any way unrewarding is ridiculous. Its lazy. Its cheap. It ruins matches for everyone involved.

Why do the devs keep making really unbalanced maps?
The new map has TONS of god pallets, you HAVE to destroy them in order to catch a survivor.
Gens are spread out like crazy, you can't patrol them, they are in other buildings, on other floors and the entire map is just a maze. Survivors spreading out make it so easy to win as them.
There's windows that are really strong and easy to use.
I'm just speechless, I don't know who thought this map was good balance-wise.
This map is terrible for survivor. You are mistaken.
-
Killer.
Especially when the vast majority employ camp/tunnel, which requires no skill and can be done on any Killer at any level...not even more efficiently with the newest Killer.
I play Killer when I need a break from being sweat on as a survivor. I don't get any enjoyment out of camp/tunnel, so I instead try and pip up by killing no one and without blatantly farming. I typically have an fun time getting a pip this way. On days I do hook people (like for a daily), I make a specific effort to hook everyone equally before killing anyone. Survivors typically get over 20k in my matches and I rarely get post-game salt.
I agree the pressure between Killer/Survivor roles is different, naturally, but the difficulty is just not the same. Especially if you're comparing playing survivor as a solo vs. playing Killer against a random team.

Pyramid heads all around are being extra scummy without a care in the world of any punishment for it. Easiest tunnels of their life. And why not. What's to stop them. Morals? Lmao.
I thought I hated deathslinger but holy frick dude... Bad DLC ontop of bad DLC, ontop of a mountain of bugs that won't be fixed. 🥴
You are absolutely right.
The only PH I have played between the PTB and the current release that didn't tunnel the ######### out of survivors stood at the hook face camping trying to use his special ability to get a 2-for-1. They are playing like trash.
But TBH, enough changes have been made with this patch (and effective bugs created) that most Killers just play like trash now. Hardly anyone, it seems, can legitimately 3-hook a survivor to death. It's just an onslaught of camping, tunneling, and/or slugging for an all-too-frequent 4k. DBD has steadfastly removed the onus of any skill from the killer and placed it solely on the survivor. The game has become extremely unenjoyable...especially this week. I will be playing a lot of 7-days and hoping they hot fix some #########.

After over three years and 2.3k+ hours, I have never felt more 'meh' about loading up and playing DbD. The amount of bugs that are introduced or never fixed, the player voices that go unheard or unaddressed about severe balance or gameplay issues, the list goes on...
I know it's a different set of developers, but the below screenshot just about sums it up for me. Rather than doing something about the boring and hostage-esque face-camping of the game (which exists on all platforms), the mobile devs take the time to make this loading screen 'tip' - which gives credence to the gameplay style and basically says to let your teammate die. Don't be altruistic, don't give that player another chance inthe trial... let the killer set up a tent and get a free kill. Such a boring situation with little or no counterplay, when Borrowed Time doesn't trigger on half your killers now or Bubba/ranged/small heartbeat killers.
Please make your game a more enjoyable and fair experience for all players.

Survivors rarely suicide out of my games. Crazy how just not being an ######### has that effect.
Maybe they should address the primary, underlying reason why ppl hook suicide - like they should have with DCs, and people would be less likely to do it.

Stalling and knowing where the survivors are is only good if you can actually down them, otherwise they are useless. Being a m1 killer is a joke with most of the survivors that i get when matchmaking is up, you can feel the difference when the matchmaking is live or not.
Also the kill rate isn't low because they are focusing that on all ranks and all maps. Considering low ranks as a stat is already a flaw imo but how the matchmaking is screwed makes it even worse to track something.
I bet that legion has average kills because of many people like me that get a good amount of sacrifices per game but sweat their balls off like i do. You need to make little to no mistake with legion because using the power is bad for you most of the time. This is facts and no kill ratio can change that.
i believe that taking out that 1 second is more a QoL change than balance because with 3 or 4 seconds fatigue the survivor can run away to safety without a problem. This change just makes it less annoying for the killer to take the fatigue.
The videos that i showed are obvious in showing that even 3 seconds fatigue is more than enough for someone to run.
I just want the matchmaking to come and maybe those very vague stats can change into something that more accurately reflect what me and many other legion players experience.
I disagree. The plight of Legion is just not that disadvantaged. I literally just played a Legion. They did just fine, despite not being particularly good. I agree - killers sense of pressure in a match is greater, but that's true with all killers and the nature of the killer role vs. survivor role. You can argue you don't like the stats for whatever reason, but the data is what is. Legion does just fine in both the overall data and the red rank specific data. Legion is currently doing just fine. Changing times on any ability is not a QoL change - it's a buff or a nerf...I guess some would also call it "balance". And no, he doesn't need a buff. I agree, I am looking forward to matchmaking coming. If I get one more potato survivor team where half of them score half of what I score in a match, I'm going to start bleeding from the eyes.

LOL BT and DS just gave the killer even more reason to camp and/or tunnel. BT and DS work great - unless the killer tunnels or camps. The killer behavior you don't like is encouraged by cheese perks.
Look at it this way: when does a killer have the most advantage versus a survivor. When the survivor is on a hook, obviously, and when a survivor has exhausted all of their take-backsies. After that, is when the survivor is already injured. So they are going to look for opportunities to chase and hook injured targets. The killer's macro advantage grows when survivors are removed from the board. As far as tunneling goes - say as a survivor you have an equally risky choice of working on a new gen, or one that's already half done but regressing. Which one do you choose?
Why wouldn't you be polite to the killer and let the half done one regress all the way?
It's going to be difficult to fix this without a re-thinking of the core gameplay loop, but whatever PH's power was going to be, would end up being used by a significant number of killers to "tunnel" and/or camp. Because every killer's power gets used by a significant number of killers to "tunnel" and/or camp. And this is because killers have only one gameplay strategy available to them - show, chase, hook, wait. You can't expect them to voluntarily handicap themselves by not doing that, the same way I wouldn't expect a survivor to let a gen regress unless they have to.
Edit: Remember that your teammates are your most valuable asset and most valuable "perk" you could ever want, and the killer knows this. Play accordingly.
Your argument that Killers camp/tunnel because of DS/BT is effectively nullified by what the person you're replying to posted...PH can completely avoid DS/BT - yet still, most PHs camp and tunnel. You further nullify this argument by then arguing the merits of camping/tunneling...proving it's a choice to ruin someone else's game - not something thrust upon Killers because of Survivors and their perks.
You can expect a Killer to legitimately chase and hook each survivor individually without camping and tunneling to ruin the sport of the game, the match for their opponent, and any challenge this game might present. Its a completely reasonable expectation and there are still some decent killers left out there who do play that way and they are appreciated, at least by me.
