Besides getting tunneled off the hook/cage...
- protecting other survivors making poor decisions - like that guy who gets off the hook and crouches under it whilst the terror radius draws closer, expecting a heal. π Run, injured baby deer...run! Even better when you both run and they palette you in the face π€¦
- likewise, getting sand bagged.
- mind gaming myself...when you think the killer's going to be tricky...but they aren't...so you essentially mind gamed yourself. LUL
- getting stuck on the clear space around some objects - nothing like skirting a pile of debri and hitting a hard, invisible stop while injured in front of the killer
- pulling off a gen/heal at exact same time as the inevitable "random" skill check pops up
- Latency, latency, latency
Side note, I'm terrified to scratch my nose while on a gen for this reason...WHY DOES IT ALWAYS ITCH WHEN YOU TOUCH A GEN. π
-
End game.
Unless you don't have any desire to get better or have any skill in this game. Then tunnel whenever you want.
If you're just looking for a way to slow the match down, and don't want to be a dick, slug. At least it incapacitates the survivor, and they require the aid of another survivor's help to get up...which is at least two people off gens for every 1 slug. ποΈ
Thanks for caring.

I dont get why they would "unlock" old event cosmetics to people who weren't there for those events. No one who was there should get those cosmetics. They should release brand new event cosmetics for every event. And people newer to the game, for whatever reason, can get their exclusive skins...that people two years from now won't have either. If you're just going to eventually give away all of the exclusive event skins to everyone...######### is the point of even participating in the event beyond normal game play? This is a stupid decision.

No. Totems don't belong to the Killer unless they brought a Hex perk. So why should they advantage the Killer with no perks/bp/offerings/addons required? Answer: they shouldn't. You want an FOV advantage, run the perk. Or suggest the game's first passive Hex perk that allows for a wider FOV that gets smaller as each totem is cleansed. But just getting a buff off dull totems? Nah fam.

Inner Strength is superior. Takes care of a secondary objective while providing a locked and loaded quick heal. Especially since self care was nerfed to hell.

Let's be clear here, survivors have the advantage in this game. Against even an average team, you can't play fair and win, there just isn't enough time to win 24 chases. The killer community warned people that scummy play would happen if the ruin nerf went through, they weren't bluffing.
I get that it's frustrating, but getting a swf bully squad, running every 2nd chance perk in the game, plus purple flashlights with odd bulb is 10 times worse.
As a rank 10 killer, you have no earthly idea what it's like to play strong survivors, so it's easy to sit back and judge. Once you've gone against 15k hour team, or lose in 5 minutes flat to a gen rush squad, or bullied to the point of just standing in the corner, then you can judge.
So yeah, my best advice is to main killer till you reach red ranks, then you might understand why so many play this way.
This is complete horse #########. LOL the vast majority of Killer matches I play these days and actually kill people, I 4k. I never camp/tunnel anyone. All too often I have teams on death hook 2-3 gens in. And unless I am doing it for a daily, I usually don't kill anyone and challenge myself to pip by meeting every other emblem objective...and I don't have issues pipping this way either. The only time I even get challenged or have to really work for it is if I get a coordinated SWF group - and those are the least frequent type of group you get. This game has literally never been less survivor sided, and never been easier for Killers in its history than it is right now.

I don't think that unbreakable actually counters slugging all that well because it can only be used once and even if then if the killer is near your slug they'll just smack you back down.
Also, at least within the red ranks slugging is very common. And at the lower ranks NOED is very common. You can roll your eyes, but I've had a ton of success with this build. This build hard counters slugging and NOED. The only real drawback is if a team mate doesn't bring DS then it's unlikely you'll get slugged. But it's rare that there isn't someone running DS.
If you don't think unbreakable is that effective, why run it? I'm glad its working for you, but that build seems awful, TBH. LOL

I don't know about you, but I rarely encounter tunnelers and campers, maybe 1 in 15 games. On the other hand, SWF are very common, at least in my region
I started keeping stats today on my games, because I think the concept is fun and I like data. I'm tracking many different data points, including not just camping/tunneling/slugging, but specifically whether it's done all match or just in end game...because I at least understand tunneling/camping in end game to secure a kill when there's nothing else to do. Of the 10 matches I played today, 8 of them included camping and/or tunneling throughout the entirety of the match. Two matches were tunnel moris.

If an SWF team is very efficient in gen rushing, then the killer will depip and lose a significant amount of BPs.
in other words, both strategies make both sides lose points
SWF are the least likely team you'll come across in this game. SWAT teams even less so.
Killers who camp and/or tunnel are nearly every game.
Again, there is no comparison here.

Killers are forced to bring two and sometimes three perks to counter genrushing. That sounds fun
I'd almost feel bad for you if survivors didn't have to do the exact same thing. Which is my point. I don't know if any build that has room for two perk slots specifically for slugging...especially if you run solo. It does not seem like a wise choice. Certainly not one I would make.

What you can't counter with skill, you counter with perks.
I wish that was true, but these days some things just aren't counterable.
Also, if someone wants to waste two entire perk slots on the off chance they get slugged because people cant do totems - thats fine. It seems like a pretty bad idea considering the number of things that need countered.

"If survivors genrush, killers hookrush"
I've already said it
This thought process is ridiculous. Survivors don't have much of a choice. There is no alternate way to do a gen that is more 'liked' by the Killer. Killers do not have to camp/tunnel to kill survivors.
A survivor doing a gen gives the Killer numerous things...a point of reference for where to find a victim, a gen for destruction points, finishing a gen narrows down survivor locations as the match progresses, depending on perks it may reveal auras or note the gen if there's coop action. All of these benefit the killer. If survivors got on a map and never touched gens the game wouldn't exist. Can you imagine how fun it would to have a Claud squad that refused to touch gens all match? Because that sounds terrible. So really, survivors doing gens allow the Killer to do what they need to be doing to generate pts and rank up.
Where as a Killer camping and tunneling takes away numerous things...it disables the person subjected to it from even playing the game. It GUARANTEES they will get very few BP and depip due to almost no fault of their own. They just get to hang there like a dead fish simulator. It also robs the other survivors of all the things they need to generate already hard to emass bloodpoints...no chase, no off-hooking, no healing, no assist, no protection.
So the idea that camping and tunneling is somehow equivalent to survivors just doing gens is ridiculous.

Honestly, soul guard is a really good counter to noed. I'd say if you're solo, ignore totems and run - Soul Guard, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, Borrowed Time. Noed killers will try to slug to increase the number of survivors they kill and to protect their totem. So you'll get soul guard value in just about every noed game. And it makes it alot safer to go for an unhook vs a noed user as well.
Are you really suggesting someone should bring not one, but two perks just to counter slugging? Cuz that sounds fun. π

Damn I made the switch from DBD on xbox to PC recently and the killers on here play like scum. I thought the community on here would be less toxic than xbox but it's probably worse. All of my matches today have been tunneling killers. Keep in mind that I had almost 3K hours on xbox and I've been using my controller on PC, So I know what I'm doing (not trying to sound cocky),and as of right now I'm in the purple ranks and the killers tend to 1 hook mori or chase me the whole game and no other survivor. if I pass by a survivor working on a gen they don't even bother to interrupt the gen and just continue to chase. what's up with that? As a former killer main, how can you not interrupt a gen that's almost done and how is it fun chasing 1 person the whole game? And then when the gens done I get smacked with NOED and the killer(s) shake their head as if they did something lmao. I mean I guess it doesn't matter what platform you play on because the toxicity within the game itself will never go away but damn I can't stand people that play like this.
I have only played PC, so I have no basis for comparison, but yes. PC Killers are uber sweats.

It was an issue before, but it seems that, especially in the last week or so, it has gotten way out of hand. I main survivor but I play as a killer, too and no matter what, I try to play fair. Camping and tunneling isn't playing fair at all. In fact, I see it as cheating. If you cannot get sacrifices without playing fairly, then you shouldn't be playing at all. I've been saving screen shots and gameplay of anyone using these tactics and I'm seriously considering putting everyone on blast.
Anyone trying to defend these tactics is just as guilty. I don't care what you say, it's unfair and uncalled for.
I feel your frustration.
People who cannot play a match without rampant camp/tunnel are pretty sad, IMO. As you are correct, it is a very cheap, lazy, weak way to play the game that is neither skillful, nor presents any particular challenge to the Killer. It's very disheartening that you can out play someone an entire match and still die in the end if you get caught once because they will just stand in front of you and watch you die, even though death should take 3 hooks, not one. It is unfair. It is uncalled for. I refuse to play this way when I play killer for those reasons. I actually enjoy this game and like playing the game as intended and meeting all of my objectives. I hope you have some better matches soon.

Thanks man, any suggestions? Ballance is hard first time. I think maybe making Blood tebdril an 7 metre attack & him a 110 movement speed killer would help. Then he's basically a 110 /107.5 Ms killer with a medium range attack.
I think he has all the good stuff Killers really enjoy, but it's too much in one Killer for survivors.
- He has ultimate stealth, since he can become a survivor without a survivor getting really any indication
- He is as fast as the typical M1 Killer, but also has a ranged ability in his Killer form (which is stronger than other ranged killers with no other special ability other than their range)
- The perk to bring back all totems on the map is OP in itself. Having to deal with all the hex totems in order to progress, just to get to the last dull to avoid NOED and have it not only bring back all the totems, but resume all the hex totems, would be too strong.
- The Intense Focus perk seems to nullify his reduction of speed while in human form
IMO, you would have to make a choice between him having the super immersive stealth by assuming the identity of a survivor -or- having the ranged ability (which, of course I think you would forego the ranged ability because its cooler). The two together make him extremely strong, no matter what form he takes and both are, in their own right, a special ability.
I think the stealth ability would need some limitations. It's not particularly fair for a Killer to be able to, completely undetected, get face to face with a survivor and them have no idea. This would be super problematic when, say, a survivor is injured and seeking heals. If the Killer can then just down them immediately, and the survivor has no idea until they are literally in dying state, that would be a little nuts. Maybe if the Killer could only inflict deep wounds on an injured survivor in this state or injured status on a healthy survivor.
This is MUCH stronger than any other stealth killer in the game. At least with other stealth killers, you can identify them visually - even if you cant hear them - before they get close to you and to get close to you silently, they only travel a 90-92% speed rate (3.6ms - 3.69ms respectively). So a Killer that can get close enough to touch you, with a walk speed of 107% is kinda crazy...enter in the Intense Focus perk...and they're even more bananas. There would need to be something to tell you from a reasonable distance that the survivor was actually the Killer...even if it was something smaller...a different face, a seeping from the skin.
Maybe instead of it having to be something where the Killer assumes a dead player...it's that the Killer compromises and existing player. So they look just like the survivor, but the survivor has an icon on their player avatar...so other survivors know one of them is compromised, but you're not sure which one. And make it easier to change between survivors to keep the anonymity going. This would dissuade people from wanting to work cooperatively.
And maybe you even make it possible for the Killer to regress generators in human form. In most situations this would waste time, right? So it wouldn't be a Killer's go-to over pursuing survivors, but it might buy some extra time in some situations, and it certainly would be devious if when you hopped on a gen with a survivor and started 'helping' them the gen actually began to regress...I wonder how long it would take a survivor to realize it and run? LOL
As for the hex perk, I think bringing back one hex perk vs. all the totems would allow the Killer to get more use out of their hex totems without being too crazy for survivors. Maybe it brings back 1 hex totem at green and 2 hex totems at purple...so you can get your ruin/dh/etc. back...but survivors aren't stuck with 10 totems per match when it's hard enough to randoms to do 5. Bringing back just the pertinent totems to the Killer in a limited amount seems helpful/reasonable, IMO.
I have long since thought it would be awesome to have a Killer who could take on a survivor form. So I do love this idea. :)

On purpose? Killer trying to win is ruining peoples matches? Same could be said for 4-man swat teams if we want to go down this road. That could be seen as ruining the match for killer, do you agree?
To say that Killers who camp/tunnel are trying to win is kind of a fallacy. Often times face camping/tunneling doesn't lead to what most people would consider a win: an up pip or a near perfect game or even a 4k. Instead, it just ruins someone else's match while ignoring actual game play. If a Killer was intended to camp a hook and smack and injured survivor right off of it, there wouldn't be 4 emblems in this game meant to entice killers into doing other things: like patting gens, finding new survivors, chasing, hitting people, and hooking other survivors multiple times. Unfortunately, for too many people, a "win" has nothing to do with challenging themselves to play well or skillfully, nor does it have anything to do with points/pips...too many people find their 'win' in just ruining the game for other people - even if it means they do poorly by game standard. And thats a problem.
And no, the same cannot be said for a 4-man SWAT team. For starters - stats show a 4-man SWAT team is the least likely team you're going to play...nearly every match I play consists of camping/tunneling/slugging. When it doesn't, its actually so note worthy I usually end up thanking the Killer just for playing fair - even when I die - which is sad. Its sad that it has become noteworthy when Killers just have skill to legitimately death hook survivors. The only 4-man SWAT you need to even be concerned about is a red rank...camping/tunneling/slugging can be used as a cheap method of killing people on any killer, at any rank, and takes no skill to implement. Secondly, a 4-person SWAT team still can't do anything as toxic as a Killer of their skill level. A killer has literally taken me out of a game in 2 minutes and rendered less than 2k pts thanks to terrible spawn RNG, a ######### teammate who teamed with the Killer, and an ebony mori. The only person who could have ensured that didn't happen to me WAS the Killer...but we all know what they chose to do.
It is the laziest, weakest, least skillful way to play DBD. Hands down. There is no challenge in coming right back to an off-hook and downing someone with no recourse. Especially today. This game has never been easier for Killers than it is right now. And because of that, this style of game play is even more of a detriment than ever.
Also, 4-person teams don't perform that much better than random solo teams. They are harder to deal with because they are more coordinated, but statistically they are not escaping all that more often than random teams. So what Killers are feeling is more pressure in match in order to get their kills...not really much in the way of an actual significant difference in survival rates.
I agree that SWAT teams are frustrating. But they don't have nearly the toolset to be as toxic in game. And they are experienced way less frequently than survivors experience camping and tunneling - especially right now.

I'm on PC NA-West and its almost every match, especially if it's the new killer. To be specific, it's most prominent in the evening, although I'm not sure why that is...less little kids? LOL idk. And I talk about it so much because these forums and the main PC DBD fb group I was on are both majority Killer players voicing their opinion. Survivors need a voice. I advocate for the survivor perspective most of the time. People should understand that ruining other people's matches on purpose ruins the game for everyone. This is an important issue.

If they called it an anti-tunnel perk I'd agree. They don't want it to just be anti-tunnel though. It's not tunneling to down and hook another survivor see someone you already hooked and then eat a DS because it was less than sixty seconds. I like BT and think it does it's job. Good perk. DS also does it's job from the developers standpoint. I said I don't get why they thought we needed an anit-momentum perk. Not anti-tunneling. I didn't even say that I didn't like DS being in the game. You just assumed I did because I said I don't get why the devs treat it like it's not anti-tunneling like everyone else does.
You said it's meant to stop Killers from steam rolling people...and immediately followed it by you dont know why devs thought the game needed that. I'm still confused how you don't know why developers wouldnt want Killers to be able to steam roll people. Everything in my previous statements stands...if you want to argue semantics and replace the word "tunnel" with "steam roll" because thats a better word in your book, by all means, do so. LOL
I didn't assume anything. I just don't see how you could say in one sentence that it's meant to not allow Killers to steam roll people...and then the very next sentence say you don't know why the game would need that...its pretty obvious.

Except that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about DC's in general. You're the only one who has brought up a specific scenario which is tunneling and moris even though not every DC is linked to that. And regardless of reasoning, any player who DCs is a detriment to all players that were participating in that match. There is only 2 reasonings that are justified that DCing is okay under and that's Farming and if another player is cheating through hacks or exploits.
The term "Fair" is subjective. If I as a Killer run into the same Survivor constantly because they don't know how to hide or play well or suck at chases, am I obligated to give you numerous chances to Survive? Of course not. Yet that's usually an issue if someone gets unhooked and immediately does a gen in the area or is still easy to see after XYZ is done. If I as a Survivor run into an obvious baby Killer, am I obligated to not run him a long chase until all gens are popped because he's new to the game or to the Killer? It's not fair to the bad player of course but how is that the fault of the other person who's more experienced?
Again, these are all subjective points and scenarios. When I play Killer, when I give Survivors a short chase because I'm effective at downing them, why should I get an immediate hook suicide? When I play Survivor, when I give killers non-toxic behavior or no frustratingly long chases, why do I get camped on first hooked? This extra BP or safe pip should be provided to all players, not just Killers, who waited 5-10 mins for a match to start just to have a crappy match because a player "Wasn't having fun".
You brought up offerings. I simply brought up the only offering people typically DC about and the only situation its used in where people would typically DC over alt+F4 out of the loading screen. :) YOU brought up offerings. I just added my 2 cents on the matter. And as I said many times in this thread already - the vast majority of DCs are based on Killer behavior. Are the reasons outside of that? Sure. But those are in the minority, IME.
And just because farming and cheating are YOUR definitions of justifiable reasons for DCing doesnt make them any more valid than mine - since ALL of those reasons still render a DC penalty, and are technically all still against the rules. Albeit, that ARE also understandable in my eyes. Funny, you're ok with DCing because of pt farming, which is not fun, but fine with someone playing as cheap as possible for the purpose of ruining someones match - which is also extremely unfun and also doesn't allow people to actually play the game. Weird.
Killers being 'effective' at downing people these days is not that impressive. Its never been easier to be a killer in DBD than it is today. Chases have never been easier than they are right now. To your point, sometimes it is just a skill issue...you play completely legitimately (without camps, tunnels, slugs, moris, etc. - all the biggest DC inducers) but are matched with people who aren't at your skill level who you down quickly and easily and they DC. Does that happen? Yes - match making is broken and we all know it. My hope is that skill based match making fixes a lot of these problems. Again, this scenario is not the majority of DCs, IME. I play red ranks, so I dont typically play with new players...although some survivors are questionable even in red ranks. π
Far more often people (survivors specifically) DC because the killer's behavior is ruining their ability - not just to have fun or win - but to even play the game. And that's the problem. And that's why Killers will never receive a benefit for people DCing - because it would only incentivize them to play even worse than they already do.

Only people that ever called it that weren't devs. Devs call it anti-momentum. It's not meant to stop you from tunneling. It's meant to stop you from being able to just steam roll people. Don't know why they thought the game needed that, but hey... Can't have the killers kill you too good ig
You don't know why they thought the game needed that (or BT for that matter)? Because they actually want to retain survivors...because they are 80% of this game. If Killers can just hard tunnel everyone out of the game...people would just stop playing. It takes zero skill for Killers to play that way. Why would anyone want to play a losing game against people who don't actually have to have any skill to 'win'? LOL
DS/BT exists because of killers, not survivors.

Yeah, it sure does suck when someone plays extremely well.
Please elaborate on "play like that" and explain how he/she "should" play.
I literally have my popcorn ready.
Well, for starters, they didn't play all that well. If they had literally just had the forethought to pick ANYONE ELSE up, they wouldn't have gotten DS'd on and wouldn't have a reason to make this ridiculous thread. What's the use of playing so "efficiently" if you can't even keep track of what you're doing at that pace?
So yes, making this post as though they played flawlessly and DS is the problem is pretty laughable.

Yeah the match stats screen is super buggy for sure.

And I can count past my hand how many times I got a DC because I brought out Freddy, Spirit, or Pyramid Head. Or how I got DC's when I slug someone after running into them but I'm in the middle of another chase. And I don't tunnel to the degree you guys claim is bad, nor do I bring Ebony Moris unless it's a ritual. Also what's considered Sweaty? Because a teammate and I were called sweaty one time for finishing 2 gens when we were the last 2 alive against a LeatherFace on Midwich. I also got called Sweaty as a Killer for getting 1k in a match one time during EGC because I didn't let them all go. Or getting a 4k by slugging the 3rd and looking for the 4th to do a Close the Hatch challenge. If you DC because you find a player "Sweaty" for playing to win, I don't know what to tell you. You're playing a competitive game.
Also, this isn't life. It's a video game. You're not obligated to follow the guidelines and expectations of what someone else set out for you in a video game. If I want to play a specific Killer, who are you to tell me I should play him/her because of XYZ? If I want to run a certain build on my Survivor, who are you to tell me that I'm bad because of XYZ? As long as you don't cheat, break the rules of the game setout by the creators, and don't be a toxic POS (which is also against the rules), you can play how you want.
You seem competent enough to know what "sweaty" or unacceptable game play would be to a survivor. :) I'm not going to explain that to you.
If you DC because a player is playing solely for their own enjoyment, to their own detriment (in pts/pips) and the detriment of every single other person on the map because they're in a position to get to make that choice - you are well within your right to do so and I completely understand why you would.
And this is life. Human beings play video games. HUMAN BEINGS. The people on the other side of the screen are people, just like you. They paid money to buy this game, just like you. They joined a match, excited to have a fun and spirited game of ghoulish hide and go seek, just like you. No one is asking Killers not to win...or not to kill people. People hold the expectation that Killers will play the game fair for everyone so everyone can enjoy themselves.
You can play however you want. And as long as you (the proverbial you, not YOU you) play like a complete and total #########, you can continue to expect getting DCs and first hook suicides. Because just like offline, no one wants to be around an #########. You get what you give. So to the OPs whole point - no Killers are not going to get extra incentives to make people DC for their own personal gain. :)

I will acknowledge that yes it is the killer sometimes, but I would say killers also have to deal with alot of the commonly played survivor stuff and from my experience they sit through the game and dont D/C. Sometimes killers are βsweatyβ in high ranks but that shouldnt mean survivors have to insta d/c
No, it is the killer's behavior the majority of the time, IME, since the DC penalty was put in place. Killers have a unique advantage to be toxic in matches - far more so than survivors. Not to say survivors can't be toxic - they sure can. But not nearly as detrimentally as Killers. If a survivor does something toxic, the Killer can literally kill them. When a Killer's sole purpose is to be toxic, there is nothing you can do as a survivor to get retribution. So, while I can agree - both Killer and survivor put up with bullshit - in game Killers are much worse and it has only become more and more frequent with all the game changes that have occurred in the last year+. I don't fault anyone for wanting to leave matches that are purposely made unfun. This is a game. Its supposed to be enjoyable. I've lost plenty of times but had a stellar match. My statement stands - play like you give 2-shits about someone other than yourself and you will find the vast majority of people stick around. No one WANTS a ban timer.

People will DC if you bring a Killer or an offering they don't like. It's not even playstyle half the time. And if I get a DC that wasn't based on my choice of Killer, I get a DC for something in match that put the Survivor at a disadvantage. No one should be playing to the other's expectation other than playing the game within the rules and way it was designed.
You mean if you bring an ebony mori and tunnel mori people? Yeah, they probably will...or at least 1st hook suicide.
I have played this game for 3 years now and can count on my hands the number of DCs I've gotten when playing killer.
Will you always (even with penalty) have people who DC because they were downed right away or they hate a particular killer or they hate a particular map...sometimes, yeah. But the VAST majority of DC's I see are usually because the Killer themselves are purposely making the game miserable and they want out. And the DCs that follow are usually either people leaving in solidarity or simply because it's no fun to play with a short team and sweaty killer.
And yes, everyone should play to some level of societal expectation. Its how literal life works. Is it a rule to be nice to people IRL? No. You can be a flaming ######### to people anytime you want (the proverbial you, not YOU you). Its within the "rules" as long as you arent assaulting people or breaking a noise ordinance. Do MOST people still conduct themselves in a kind, empathetic manner toward others? Yeah, they do. Because as a society this is part of our social contract. I dont know why people think that stops as soon as they are on the internet, but it doesn't.

I've stacked luck offerings with other people, I tried using slippery meat to get off the hook. Another time I got trapped in a bear trap with slippery meat and a luck offering and I still didn't get out of it. I'm confused lol
It does literally nothing. Its just a way to waste your finite bp.

No? Well then we should definitely count cages as hooks. π
