Here, first one. It often happens to me that I want to prestige killers and therefore use all the remaining addons and offerings before I do so (at least the ones I wanna play and are rare enough). And Moris are then normally used when the gens pop too fast as kind of insurance when I have a bad start. If I don't have to use them and still can get a 4k, I'm happy to get more points.

Btw it is 66% of the job. You need to win 2 chases instead of 3, not 1 hook of 3.

I'll be right back with your gold star. :) I have never once had this experience. I have numerous times weekly where I am mori tunneled. That is the standard. But good for you. :)

Actually I DON'T have to accept if I don't want to. I realize they are a part of the game, but I do not accept them and want them changed, and I am willing to give up my mori for them to be gone. And I agree, most killers will use the mori. I was merely stating the fact how uneven it is that if survivors don't use an item and escape they get to keep it, but a survivor that 4ks does not.

Ok, never accept it, continue to let it make you fester with salt, and cry about it here in the forums. I mean, you do you. ๐Ÿ˜‚

They will never change. And you are right - a survivor gets to keep it because not only did they win, they never used it. Also, there isn't a single offering survivors get to keep. This, again, is not comparable in any way. :)

If the survivors are going well, then they get to keep the key. If a killers game is going well and they decide not to use thier mori...they don't get to keep it.

What Killer, in the history of EVER, has brought a mori and decided not use it????? Lmao Thats not a thing.

And thats fine. Moris show up more frequently and Killers have more BP to spend on their blood web because they have no items...only addons. Give me a break bro, this is not a comparison.

Again, very sorry someone used a key on you, so you're triggered...but there is nothing wrong with keys. Its a part of the game you need to accept.

  • @Vetrathene said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1272196#Comment_1272196

I would say it takes less, and a mori can't kill all survivors left on the map in one go, and has a lengthy animation to go through before its finished. A key can get all remaining survivors out of a trial at once.

It doesn't take less. Not by a long shot. With a mori, you can hook and tunnel people out of the game immediately. It is literally a 30% of a Killer's job in the match if they mori all 4 people.

If 4 survivors use a key, they have to do 100% of their job. If 3 escape, they have to do 80%. If 2 people escape, they have to do 60%. The last person always has a shot at the hatch - so they could feasibly have gotten zero gens done and still use a key to get the hatch if it was closed, but as a red rank survivor I haven't seen this happen because matches don't usually go THAT south, and if they do you better believe that last person doesn't have a key.

Also, keys are significantly less frequent in matches than moris. And if the match is going well for survivors, they go completely unused and the Killer gets the entire duration of their match.

    This is not remotely comparable.

I'm sorry but that's OP. It's just a free getaway, even if out-played.

How would you feel if I said Hes: Ruin should be basekit for all killers?

There is no such as being "out played" by someone who comes back to down you as you come off a hook when you're injured. THAT is OP and a free down.

  • Also, the developers of this game always knew that when they introduced a means for people to squad up that they'd be using voice comms. Even if they didn't intend to spend their development hours putting it into the game. Why would they? Third party resources already existed so their time/energy was better spent elsewhere.

Also, using a key does take some amount of skill, as you have to complete a specified number of gens before the hatch will even become available. The more people alive the less likely you are to even use it and the more work has to be done. It takes more time/effort than a mori by comparison.

I'm sorry someone clearly frustrated you by using a key, but there's nothing wrong with either.

Why do people think Freddy needs changing? I think he is perfectly fine as is. If you understand him as a killer you know how to counter him, so I wouldn't even remotely say he is OP. I see some people complaining about his snares, which are basically the exact same as Clown's gas. Basically hating on Freddy's snares is like saying you hate playing against Clown, yet clown is deemed one of the worst killers.

The only thing I could say against Freddy is I feel like his lunge goes further than most killers, even though the devs claim his lunge is normal. But I think he was perfectly reworked & doesn't need tampering with.

...Freddy has the highest kill rate in the game and requires very little skill to play. He is really nothing like the Clown. ๐Ÿคท

  • It should be distance based.

But I am not trying to begrudge stealth killers their benefits. But Freddy is not a stealth killer and is already very powerful without this weird decision to not count his obvious terror radius as an actual terror radius.

  • I've had teammates who seemed to sand bag me several times during a match only to get out and see they had bond. It is pretty toxic, but there's nothing you can do about someone whose whole mission is to be an #########. You can't stop Killers from doing it. You can't stop survivors from doing it. ๐Ÿคท The only thing I do to try and alleviate this is when I play Killer, I don't take the bait. I don't punish someone's team members for their ######### plays. I don't go for sand bagged teammates. I don't go for freshly off-hooked survivors if someone farms them in front of me. I go for the sand baggers and farmers themselves. Teach them a lesson about being a good teammate. LOL

Have you played clown? He is only good in low ranks. Well any killer is, but you get what I mean. I mean think about it clowns bottles are legit freddy's pools but worse. You have to aim his bottles reload them on and on and on. But freddy you can just place them with ease. I'm just saying a killer shouldn't have the s ame ability as a different killer. And yeah bubba needs a buff and way better addons.

I have played him before, and I have played against him at high ranks, and have seen him kill my team. LOL

I don't agree his bottles are exactly the same as Freddy's pools. Freddy cannot throw a pool several feet in front of a survivor to slow them down before they're able to vault. Clowns clouds persist for 10 seconds, which can hit a looping survivor multiple times with the same cloud. It causes survivors to be unable to fast vault. Hitting people with bottles slows them as well as interrupts their interaction with objects.

He plays differently. No two killers have the exact same power - just one being less powerful.

  • ...somtimes it be like that.

Its very easy to have back to back ######### matches.

The Killer loses points and, frequently, lets Survivors escape by camping.

What more punishment do you want? Do you want them to lose BP out of their BP bank? De-level? Uninstall the game?

The flat out truth, no sarcasm, no instuls, is thus:

There WAS a stronger punishment in matches for camping, and Survivors abused it for an unfair edge. Devs realized that any proxcimity-based bonus, or punishment, would be likewise abused in the same way; by keeping the Killer as close to the hook as possible, or forcing a free unhook.

So they added a loss to the Emblems and called it a day. There was not much more they CAN do. Killer's lose points if they camp.

Now, the tooltips COULD point this out, if someone happens to be camp-heavy 'Camping the hook may get you a kill, but it could cost you the game!' or 'When you stay near a hooked Survivor, you loose BP'.

But they can't really implement anything stronger. There is just noting TO implement. The Killer already:

    1. Loses BP. As in, it drains a bit as the 'chaser' emblem goes down.
    2. Can cost himself the match
    3. And can depip

What else is there to do that would not be bloody overkill?

I would definitely like people selfish enough to facecamp to uninstall. Yes. That would be great. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Disregard the mori. They weren't very good, and I was just going for two trophies involving the offering.

Also disregard my build. I will be swapping out Thrill and Lullaby for Shadowborn and Iron Maiden.

So you're smurfing as an example of how rank doesn't equal skill...basically showing how skilled Killers can live in low ranks and terrorize newb survivors...since we all know ranking as killer is harder. Gotcha. Coo, coo.

  • Anyone that says campers lose their emblem or BP by face camping, and that's punishment enough for this behavior, you are mistaken. Obviously the people doing this don't care those points or that emblem. Why would they? They will still net just as many points as the survivors, because Killers have an easier time racking up BP, and may even safety pip, depending on how quickly they caught that first survivor into the match or if someone tries to save. There needs to be a much more significant deterrent. And the survivor being victimized should automatically safety pip.

I'm not fine with some killers being so different in performance. It really feels bad to invest money or effort into something only to realize that you're inadvertently handicapping yourself with no indication from the game that you're doing so. I would be fine with the performance gap if the game actually acknowledged it, maybe a power level instead of a difficulty rating could be implemented :/

I don't think he is handicapped. He is effective at killing survivors in a balanced way. None of the killers have less than a 50% kill rate overall. So what it really comes down to is player preference and ease of use. I really would be indifferent to seeing him get reworked, because his power is lack luster. But I dont particularly think he needs a direct buff, seeing as to how his performance isn't under par by BHVR standards.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

They would nerf his finger if he was actually a good killer lol. Or they could go the lazy route and make it basekit...could be "fun".

LUL if that was basekit I would just hook suicide on every Clown. I have no interest in that.

I don't think Clown is all that bad - especially now that loops are open and there are less safe palettes. He is able to close chases pretty quickly. Trying to draw a comparison between killers abilities as why they should get a buff isn't the best, IMO. Each killer is different. I understand wanting a killer like Clown to have the same kill rate as Freddy, but they can't all be top shelf Killers...some killers have to be easier/harder than others for average people to get kills with so people can choose their preferred level of difficulty combined with their preferred play style. He honestly seems fine IMO. If he isn't your fave killer because Freddy's pools perform better - play Freddy.

  • Hard pass. I've had two Clowns finger addon/mori tunnel me this week alone. He seems to be doing just fine.

  • I don't think mori's need to be removed from the game. I think the tunnel/mori dynamic needs to be addressed because it's completely unfair. But if you NEED a mori to slow down your game...you might consider re-evaluating your play style. Moris are meant to be a fun, ultra rare offering...not the basis for consistently 'saving' your matches.

  • ...except you have to get to end game without ever being hooked...and you can't be the last person left or neither perk works. So, yes it is fair. It's completely situational.

  • @Deadeye said:

If gen rush doesn't exist, camping and tunneling doesn't exist...

I think it is pretty much common sense what these terms should describe

Except these couldn't be more different.

Simply doing a generator = "gen rushing" as though it is an abusive or toxic part of the game. Except it isn't. Killers NEED survivors to do gens, because in matches where they don't, Killers struggle to find survivors and get taken hostage. There is only one way to do a gen, and it doesn't eliminate the Killer from the match in the first few minutes of the game. In fact, it gives Killers a specific point at which they can expect to find survivors, which awards them points, allows them to chase, gives them destruction point opportunities, etc.

Camping and Tunneling are play styles that are employed to kill survivors as quickly as possible, with disregard for the fact that game has 4 major objectives, not 1. They are toxic, in that they can easily and quickly be used to completely stop someone from being able to play the game, and can be implemented as soon as the match starts. It not only automatically removes the points and pips from the person being victimized by this behavior, the other survivors suffer - especially from camping - because they don't meet their emblem requirements for off-hooks, heals, chase, etc. when all the Killer does is find a single person and camp their face off. Unlike doing gens, there are numerous alternative ways to go about killing people that take into consideration killer and survivor objectives.

These two things are not comparable. "Gen rushing" is just a hollow term for any survivor doing a gen. Camping and Tunneling are toxic play styles that ruin matches. Certainly not the same.

  • @snozer said:

My guess is that survivors did not have a reason to hold m1 as much as they do now, because they had more things available to them to abuse.

The more abusable things the devs take away from the survivors, the harder they will hold m1 until they punch it through their mouse and through their desk.

LOL @ "abuse". Yeah, using the palettes and windows on a map - the only resources you have available for extending a chase against someone faster than you - is such nasty Killer abuse. They're truly the victims. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Man, people's choice of words in this forum crack me up.

  • @Unbreakabilly said:

Never said it isn't. Well, maybe describing it as QoL is misleading, it's definitely a buff. But it's not gamebreaking or a strong buff by any means and would improve the Killer experience a lot imo.

Um, yes. Being able to see more around you as a killer would be a pretty big buff.

  • This game has its current FOV for a reason. The ability to change it would be an advantage. So, no. They probably will never make FOV changes a basekit option for Killers outside of having to use a perk slot.

  • @matchmakingworksfine said:

Actually killers lose a ton of points for camping. That's why camping isn't seen at high ranks. You literally cant pip for camping. You lose points for survivor proximity. I always see complaints about killers not having any sort of punishment for it and I'm just like bruh. Have you seen camp game emblem scores? It is literally impossible to pip from camping.

This is a complete fallacy. Even the worst face campers earn an average of what the survivors in the same match will earn. And this is assuming that the team is SWF with comms, because that's pretty much the only team setup that is efficient enough to identify a face camper and focus down gens. In a random squad, you're going to have 1 or 2 people who pull off gens during the hook phases to AT LEAST scope out the situation, if not attempt an ill-advised save, wasting precious time or making themselves the next victim. If camping was never effective, it wouldn't be the go-to strategy for most killers, even in red ranks. It is not impossible to safety pip, or even up pip depending on what the survivors do, from camping. Especially if the initial survivor went down relatively quickly and the team took time out to scout the situation, meaning they would still have a gen or two to finish by the time the first hooked survivor dies...giving the killer that much more opportunity to find/camp the next person. In addition to the fact that these types of players also often carry NOED, which gen focusing leaves no time for totem cleansing. It's an absolute ######### show AT BEST and Killers are VERY OFTEN rewarded for it, especially against randoms. The idea that camping is its own punishment couldn't be further from the truth.

Imagine this, you down someone and they die on first hook or second even though you weren't camping or even close to the hook, then you get constant notifications and party invites mid match, when you are still in the game, and if you are like me you have the PS app on your phone so that makes the notifications you receive double up, every little mistake you make, another notification of X survivor on how trash you are (not you I mean when I play killer) then after the match is done, you receive other 3 notifications from the other survivors complaining even though you played fair( at least in my opinion) and some people will actually continue for like 30 min if you don't respond

I'm all about the PC master race. This console life sounds awful. ๐Ÿ˜‚

For killers: Why do some of you feel the need to smack people like myself on the hook after you manage to finally catch me even though I never do anything toxic like teabag or clicky clicky or even stack crutch perks(the only meta perk I use is bt). It's your own fault that you lost by commiting to me all match.

For survivors: why do some of you feel the need to teabag just because you found the hatch before me or because you were able to get one of the farly parted gates open? You do realize that you only escaped because of a pity card and some luck right? I usually try to play as fair as possible and give hatch to the last person anyways but it's really nothing to brag about.

I'm not mad about it but moreso just curious as to why people feel the need to act like this as these scenarios happen to me alot. You guys realize this is how you spread toxicity right?

I only clam slam a killer if they have been hellaciously toxic. I wouldn't try it near the hatch since with my luck they would get that 1 step too close that disables you from jumping in and if get murdered. I never have understood waiting at the exit gate to teabag a killer for no reason. It annoys me as a survivor to see others do it. It just seems like a pussy move. If the survivor team is that bad, I am probably not having fun chasing them anyways. And would rather just kill them and get onto the next game. I don't ever go for a 4 man slug because usually there's 1-2 unbreakables per game and I play like every survivor has unbreakable (some lobbies do).

Also, can you imagine applying that logic to any other PvP game out there? Would you not shoot the other team in CS:GO or Call Of Duty because they are bad? Why do you think all the smurfs in League of Legends are celebrated?

I have people teabagging me at 5 gens, when they have "accomplished nothing". I saw a rank 4 survivor today who could not loop, camped the shack pallet, and then teabagged after they threw it. I would not consider that a threat. But if you expect me to feel bad about depipping people like that, I don't think so.

"I don't ever go for a 4-man slug"...then everything you said before that is irrelevant because this situation doesn't happen to you. If you catch and hook every survivor individually before they can save anyone...by all means, put them out of their misery. But slugging is a totally different animal.

I do like your admission that your enjoyment is clearly your sole focus.

Trying to draw a comparison between an FPS and DBD is not comparable. They are two completely different games/mechanics. And actually, if you want to draw that comparison - YES, in competitive BR tourney's players DO give their competitors a pass to get to end game as a means to avoid unnecessary fights that might take themselves out of the game early...because its more advantageous for all involved to get higher placement. They'll pass and meet them in end game later on. Just like you might be able to slug a full team and death hook everyone 1st hook in the first 2 minutes of a match, but it would be more advantageous for everyone involved NOT to, to secure your rank and theirs. You'll see them in no time later in the match and still probably win.

The OP said absolutely nothing about toxic behavior or killing t-baggers. You are straying way off topic to try and prove some point that is not in line with this thread. Should you kill someone being a toxic #########? Sure. Should you do everything on your power to full slug a 4-man team and death hook them before any gens are done? ######### no. Idk why thats even up for discussion, since it's apples and oranges, but whatever.

For BHVR to have no negative to being in a SWF is crazy, then add onto that they play with communications which they have to accept as they can't obviously detect comms makes it beyond crazy.

BHVR's attitude to this in the past was to ignore it and not show the killer or other survivors if they had played an SWF, when starting to play this game I didn't have a clue why I thrashed one team then not another when skill level didn't appear to be the problem.

Now I'm a red rank killer (before the recent Wraith nerf/bug) and understand why but nothing incetivies the killers to play SWFs (mainly on comms).

BHVR appears to be improving their game and would like to suggest two options when the killer plays SWFs, for them to either take an improved BP or for the developing killers a slow down (like thana) imposed only on the SWF players.

I like the idea of SWF by talking with your friends and it shouldn't be taken away but it is at the expense of the killers fun / tryhard sweat and tears. Now I enjoy a challenge facing the SWFs but this can have a negative effect on up and coming players.

"For BHVR to have no negative to being in a SWF is crazy, then add onto that they play with communications..."

So, you think survivors should be penalized for simply playing with their friends...before you even taking into consideration comms? Is it? Is it crazy to think in a multi-player game you should be able to squad up without taking a nerf? I don't think thats crazy at all. I think that is pretty standard.

What incentivizes Killers to play with SWF? The fact that they want to play DBD and no one gets to pick and choose who/what they play against. Not survivors, not Killers. You think survivors want to play against a scratched mirror Myers on Lery's or an iri head huntress or a mori on literally any killer? Of course not, but you get what you get.

Killers already earn BP easier than survivors, and not every SWF is a SWAT Team that needs to be slowed down.

You know what also has an effect on up and coming players? Killers with full, optimal load outs and hundreds of hours in the game, who lurk in low ranks because they enjoy owning newb survivors teams. But alas, they exist. In droves, because it's harder to PIP as Killer. And you know what, that's life.

The game has made TONS of changes aimed at bridging the gap between SWF/Killers for the last year and a half. Suck it up.

If the survivors are getting 4 man slugged at 5 gens left, they are making massive, massive mistakes and the killer is probably infectious fright hillbilly. Every map has enough safe pallets you can camp them like a bot and still get a 1 gen chase out of it.

I'm not refuting that. Clearly some level of mistake was made, even if the Killer brought knock out. But going hard against a team that's obviously handicapped in some way is like winning the special olympics as an olympic gold medalist. If that makes you feel good, you have issues. The point is, a team like that is clearly not a threat, so there's no logical reason to slug them all down when they have accomplished exactly nothing, unless you are trying to be a dick. There really is no reason to ever slug an entire team at all. Its incredibly counter productive for everyone's progress, including the Killer.

Oh, no, wait, that literally never happened, to anyone, ever.

I actually do get sacrificed in matches where the Killer played well but was out played. Not only will I do that, the one person I play with occasionally will do it also, because we figure 2 out / 2 in is fair and it's likely we'll PIP.

    I don't recommend a style of play I don't readily use myself.

Also, when a Killer slugs everyone with 5 gens undone, people didn't even get to play the match. When survivors best the Killer and leave, they did all 5 gens, giving the Killer ample time to get their job done.

High rank survivors aren't actually high skilled survivors. Low ranked killers are not actually low skilled killers. Matchmaking is prioritizing getting people into matches over aligning their rank number...which TBH isn't great for new people...but also isn't that bad considering most survivors don't belong in their higher rank and ranking as a killer is known to be much harder by comparison...so better killers sit at lower ranks.

  • Idk why people have such an issue with him from the Killer perspective. I don't think he is particularly all that weak, depending on whose playing him. A mid-range killer like many others.

Get a good Legion, with a good build and you have yourself a challenging match. A Legion with gen/heal slowing perks is a little rough, but a Legion with a Ruin you can't find is pretty dominating.

My issue with him from a survivor perspective is that his power makes the game boring...especially if the person playing him isn't very good or doesn't have an optimal build. Lots of people grasps how to run around and pressure gens by using his power to injure everyone but that is where their skill stops. So they injure everyone 27 million times, but don't commit to chases and don't get many hooks. Its the longest match of nothing but mending/healing. I do not look forward to Legion matches for the sheer waste of time they can be.

  • I don't really care if Killers dodge the lobby for whatever reason right now. But I dont think we need to give them any additional reasons/means to lobby dodge. Survivors don't get that luxury at all. If lobby dodging was meant to be a "strategy", survivors would get to see the killer and everyone would get to see the map. So strat, not so much. The game was meant to be a 'get what you get' of sorts. But does it currently really matter? Nah.

I actually think compensation should go the other way. If youre being camped you should get a percentage of everything thats being done by your teamates, youre a distraction.

I also think any system implemented to stop camping tunneling would be abused into the ground and this game would die pretty quick. Theres no real point in speculating how how they could make it better for killers from there, because there wouldnt be any

I do think if you are camped to death you should at least safety pip. It doesnt take anything away from Killers, but it also doesn't take your rank because someone decided they didnt want you to play the game.

  • I dont think survivor items/addons are nearly as advantageous as Killer addons, so I dont usually run any. I prefer Inner Strength for healing because its faster and easier to replenish. Toolboxes are pretty useless - BNP is negligible, assuming you don't get gen pressured with ruin and lose all your progress. I'm terrible with a flashlights.

Pretty much the only item I will roll with these days is a key and the majority of the time I don't need/get to use it.

Sometimes I bust out firecrackers just for funsies. So maybe those? Because they're unexpected outside of their holidays.

    Survivor items are pretty "meh".

  • I did read the post.

To be more clear, I don't think killers need compensation for not playing like #########. The compensation is a more fun/fair game for everyone. Fewer first hook suicides. Less insulting post-game chat.

I play every killer match without camping and tunneling survivors and don't typically have any issues killing people unless I'm doing a daily for a Killer I am particularly bad at playing. If a potato killer like me can do it, so can anyone else. ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

  • I dont understand the question, because I never camp/tunnel in my matches. I would...play the game?

  • I agree...

...but as a survivor main, I don't like this thread. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Regardless of rank, nearly every killer I have come across has held NOED.

Can someone tell me the reason behind this?

It's making the game quite boring honestly.

    IDK.

But I replaced Small Game with Detective's Hunch, based on seeing so many forum recommendations, and NOED has been non-existent in my matches. Last gen pops off, any last totems are revealed. Easy claps.

  • You had a perfect score game, there is no way you were camping.

You might have been able to proxy, come back to the hook, and use that method and get a score like this. Which, when a Killer does nothing but come back to the hook for an off-hook, it does suck.

But no one scored under 10k, two people scored over 20k, and you scored a perfect game. Clearly you were not just camping to kill them.

This guy is a salty idiot.

I'm all for telling someone if their match was completely unfun, because I think feedback is important. But just claiming someone is a camper because you lost is stupid. Whatever that guy needs to tell himself to get through his day, I guess. LOL

  • It usually takes 6-8 tries for me, and typically by then I'm not out - I'm picked up. But I don't face trapper that often and when I do, I rarely step in traps...so this experience is pretty few and far between.
