Go play some sports, then complain that it's not fair for the other team to take advantage of your team's mistakes.

This is your best argument for why people shouldn't be considerate in game?

Sports have rule sets around decency between players and penalties for a lack of. Dbd does not. It's left up to the players to decide to either care about the other human beings also trying to enjoy the game or not.

A person getting tunneled didn't make a mistake by being offhooked outside of their control, and there is a misunderstanding about the game being a team game, like a sports team. Unless you are a SWF, dbd matches are comprised of individuals who have to work together toward a common goal. But they are not a team. They did not select each other. So it is ridiculous to hold an incapacitated person accountable for the neglegent actions of someone else. Assuming they are neglegent because a lot of the time its less a wreckless decision and more the only decision because killers seem to gravitate to the hook.

Just don't be a dick. It's not rocket science and there is no reason to be, unless someone else is being a dick.

I play both sides equally but if you've seen any of my posts you'd call me a survivor main.

I'm sure there are a small minority of people who do. I think it is far less than the number of people who claim to, to try and add validity to their statements here in the forums.

It still hasnt really something to do with hatch gremlins. You just startet to act like the OP is biased just because he said something against hatch gremlins and now you want to justify it.

Actually no, I don't think the hatch gremlin portion of the OPs comment was out of line at all. That guy sounds like an idiot. But so does anyone, on any side, that ends a match in "ggez".

The part I disagree with is implying the survivor community gets too much leniency, has a silver spoon, or is entitled.

It's a PvP game. Someone's always going to end up unhappy, even if you're not trying to make them unhappy. If you always need to win to have fun, I recommend a single-player game.

When did I say I only have fun when I win? I've have some stellar matches where I died miserably. But they were fun because both sides played well and the better man won in the end. Those are the magical dbd matches that keep me playing this game. In my experience, no. Someone doesn't always have to leave unhappy. Someone always has to win, sure. But I don't base my enjoyment in the game on whether I win or lose, it's whether or not the match felt like a fun, fair test of skill. Getting tunneled or camped to death in the first minutes of a match because someone would prefer not to 4v1 is not fair, nor skillful. It's also not fun in any way. People who play that way are the ones who should be playing a single player game, where they are welcome to treat the NPCs as carelessly as they want.

Depends. Surely the Killer has to do more (which is expected when he is the "1" in "1vs4"), but ranking up as Killer is faster. At least it is easier to blackpip and especially double pip, as Killer.

EDIT: To clarify - while I have more to do as Killer because I am alone, I generate more Pips/game on average.

I don't believe what you are describing is typical. In my experience and from what I've seen here in the forums, the consensus is typically the same: survivor is easier to rank up, killer is easier to farm BP.

Your very post is in denial of the fact that bias is clearly playing a role in the commentary occurring in this thread. As it does all over the forum.

Your mistake is in assuming you can't play both sides and hold the opinion that one has bigger issues than the other.

Back at release, survivors were able to permanently break every hook on a map, except for the basement. Killers were able to equip a combination of perks that made it almost impossible to wiggle free, but couldn't guarantee a hook if there were only basement hooks left. Which do you think was the bigger problem, the fact that survivors could deny killers all the hooks, or that killers had increased carry distance? Personally, I think the former was the biggest problem. Was I biased because I recognized that the power role being denied their primary method of defeating the numbers role was not in the spirit of an asymmetrical game?

Just because the opinion is one sided doesn't mean it's biased. Often, there are just bigger problems on one side. False equivalence is a fallacy.

I've made no mistake. It's human nature to have preference and bias. These forums are a plethora of examples of that very fact. To deny it is ignorant.

As an above-average survivor at best, I can assure you that killers at rank 1 (or close) have more skill than their survivor counterparts. I pip basically every trial as a survivor, without even doing much.

I can't agree there. Rank 1 killers are some of the worst perpetrators of camp and tunnel. Although I will agree that A LOT of red rank survivors don't belong there.

It....actually really does happen, and often even without BT. ๐Ÿคฃ

Some people are MAD thirsty for those unhook points. It's actually one of the biggest factors in some of my games as killer.

For starters, we're talking about unhooking a survivor against a camping/tunneling Freddy and its effect on BT. You cannot NOT unhook in the killer's face when the killer never leaves the hook vicinity. LOL Unless yall wanna loan me the Wraith bell for a second so I can invisible my ass in there. The argument of "don't let the killer see you!"...when the killer never leaves LOS of the hook is just stupid.

So, no. I'm not "running in like a banshee straight at the hook!"...I'm running in directly to the hook, when a killer will proxy but refuses to leave the area, because it is the best chance at getting that person down without it being a definite hook trade. Also in this case, if I know the killer is going to tunnel, I want to do so within close enough proximity to the killer that the person gets their BT because the killer is coming to down them either way.

I'm not arguing people get thirsty for off-hooks, but that's not at all what we're talking about here.

Killers, I recently played a match where Michael Myers killed the sh!t out of my team, in under 5 minutes? We were all on the same rank. No flashlights. No loops. He was genuinely a good killer (I'm an okay player) now here's the thing. I go into spectate mode after I die and watch the killer basically trick the last survivor into thinking he's let him find the hatch, just to down him. Once the killer left, the Survivor had Unbreakable, so he got up and searched for the hatch. The killer caught him, downed him, allowed him to break free from his grasp, they found the hatch together, and then he downed them again. Closed the hatch in front of them, and refused to hook them. I couldn't figure out why he did that? I personally would have dc'd, not because I lost but because he would t end the match. Why didn't he just hook the guy instead of forcing him to crawl until he died.

This is why there needs to be an option to suicide when you're slugged. They changed end-game struggle for survivors so that killer's aren't "inconvenienced" by 60 seconds of struggling...while killers can down you and watch you bleed out for 4 minutes for their own amusement. Not cute.

  • Thats weird. My updates auto download while my steam is on. I dont even notice them.

With the current broken match making, it wouldn't matter if you were with your friends or not. I'm red rank and sometimes get some dreadfully low killers and I play solo. LOL If I sense the killer is particularly low rank or lower skill level I just play nicer. Let em hook me. Step in a trap. Make an unnecessarily risky play. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/152493/why-do-both-sides-have-so-many-made-up-rules

Those aren't really killer rules. I've never had a killer message me, nor have I messaged a survivor first over using second chance perks, gens, or swf. Wish I could say the same about survivors. I play on console so they can freely message me until I block them. Survivors are the ones who complain the most in my experience. Not trying to flame, just stating what I've witnessed over the 3 years that I've played this game

I would agree, survivors complain the most in post-game chat...or I guess in messages on console (I dont play console).

But there are several reasons for this...

    • There are 4 survivors to every 1 killer...so survivors are 4x more likely to complain in post game. LOL
    • Killers have in-match retribution. If a survivor is toxic, they can get them out of the game to relieve frustration. If a killer is toxic to a survivor, there isn't much a hanging survivor can do except die and voice their frustration post-game.
    • Survivors most commonly complain about camping/tunneling, which are play styles that aren't necessary to play or win a game and disable survivors from getting to actually play in the match. While killers most commonly complain about gen rushing...which is the only way survivors can win the game and enables the killer to more easily find survivors/gain destruction points while getting to play the entire duration of the match. Not to mention, several changes have been implemented even quite recently to help address the pain point of "gen rushing" and there has yet to be any changes to the game for camping/tunneling outside of dreaded second chance perks, which only prolong the inevitable in many cases. LOL

I've also found in these forums and in the main PC DBD facebook group that Killers seem to out number survivors...which is weird, since survivors are so vocal in game.

And all Freddy has to do is miss a skill check, find other awake killer, or get to the highlighted clock to turn off OoO.

    Oh, wait...

You're saying that as if when you run in to save against a camping Freddy that he can't hit you, immediately putting you into the dream state, and voiding your BT. It doesn't matter if you wake up throughout the match...he can immediately put you back to sleep in the middle of the exact situation you need BT for. ๐Ÿ™„

I honestly didn't know OoO did this for Freddy because I don't run it. I find this ######### hilarious. ๐Ÿ˜‚ 'Bout time the ######### decision by the devs had a negative ramification for a killer. I would be absolutely down with "fixing" OoO, as long as it also fixed BT. โค๏ธ

  • It's obviously hard to predict you're getting an indoor map, unless you personally bring a map offering, but if this is routinely an issue perhaps try running something like Detectives Hunch. Not only will it show you where those pesky NOED totems are, it reveals all the gens too. ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

Survivor: no noed, no tunneling, no camping...

Killer: no second chance perks, no gen rushing, no swf...

Why cant we just enjoy the game without making up rules for the opposite side to follow?

Because what people like to call "made up rules" are just the average person's expectation of common courtesy. People expect their opponents to play the objectives of the game (all of them), which were designed to provide a fair, fun, balanced match. When people hyper focus one objective and lack any consideration for their opponent(s), it throws the balance of the game off and makes it less enjoyable. The game is not enjoyable when survivors ignore everything except gens. The game is not enjoyable when killers camp people to death. So the idea that everyone should play how they want AND enjoy the game simply doesn't work when there are people who derive their enjoyment out of the displeasure of others.

The real question is, why can't we all just play the game how it was designed (speaking to the emblem system), and have a little consideration for others, for the enjoyment of all? ๐Ÿคท

  • I had the same thing happen the other day while playing Killer. It was a super tough match. They were very altruistic and organized. I got out of the match and they were super cocky. I asked if they were SWF and they said no...only to leave and queue up again and get put back against all four of them. I deemed that too coincidental LOL

I assume its because winning as a solo team is quite a bit harder than winning as a SWF...and they would like people to believe they're good enough to achieve that, when they in fact did not.

I personally just dont classify it as a second chance since it doesnt correct a failed chance(again, i still think its ######### stupid, but still), while something like, say, Blood Warden or DS, gets you out of a situation where you would have outright lost in some regard. Its just my view on the definition.

Avoiding a palette stun is a get out of jail free card. Otherwise you would have eaten the stun, potentially had to break the palette, before you could continue your pursuit...if you could find them and they hadn't used that to get to the next palette or loopable area. I'd say that's pretty second chancey. The survivor didn't make any mistakes by paletting you.

  • I really don't believe for a hot second that you are new to the game or forums. LoL

But to answer your question, because there is a difference from disabling someone from playing the game and people doing gens... Which you need them to do in order to do your own objectives...like to find survivors and gain destruction points. You tunneling someone off a hook just disables them from getting back in the game at all. Tanks their pts, pips, and rank and there is nothing they can do about it. You can do something about gens getting done.

It's about common courtousy. They waited just as long as you did get into the match, how would you like it if the Survivors broke your leg in the first 2 minutes of the match and you just got to sit back and watch while you bled out and they popped all the gens and left you with no pts and a derank? It would really suck.

So don't do it to others.

  • Only part of what he is describing it latency. I seem to remember the game used to make killers commit to the direction they were swinging and then out came a 360 degree hits during the swing animation to help mitigate survivor 360s, I assume. His snares are basically a version of the Clown's ability. I only mentioned Clown because I saw people complaining about the snares. But I feel like it's the low ranks that contribute to Freddy being so strong. Playing in low ranks everyone fears him, while in high ranks everyone outplays him. I will say I do agree that Freddy requires very little skill, but I don't think he is as strong as he is made out to be. The only change I can find remotely acceptable to his snares would be to make the distance they can be placed next to one another slightly increased so that he doesn't just bombard one small area with a crap load of them. Making dream pallets base feels meh because it was a fun gimmick at first, but now they aren't really that exciting. It keeps them remotely interesting with them as an addon because most people expect the snares since they are base. If pallets are base then almost always people will be on the lookout for them, which kinda defeats their purpose...

The only thing Clown and Freddy have in common is one ability that applies Hindrance to a survivor.

According to the last stats he has an overall 70% kill rate, but in red ranks he has almost an 80% kill rate...which lends itself to the opposite of your assumption. He is very strong at every rank, especially red. He is very easy to play with a low skill cap. He may be unassuming, but strong none-the-less between his ability to end chases quickly, teleport, and has a built in slowing mechanism.

As I said in my original comment, I don't really care about any of his abilities that much. The only thing I think is BS is that BT won't work against him in the dream state even though he is not a silent killer. Especially since if a Freddy is camping, making BT a necessity, it's likely the off-hooker will take a hit which immediately tosses them into the dream state and voids BT. Pretty bullshit.

It would be nice if the snares required some distance. I was on a Yamaoka map the other day and our team got down to the last gen and every gen left was 2 sided. He could just trap them all on both sides so the traps were unavoidable. It was a very long and ######### end to the match. It would also be nice if there was no "clear space" around the trap. I find it OP on maps like Hawkins, which is already so Killer sided, that he can place a trap in a hallway and no matter how far around the trap you skirt, even though you don't touch the blood itself at all, it will still trip.

But TBH, if he got zero changes, it wouldnt be the end of my world. The BT issue is the only one I would like to see changed because it aids camping/tunneling.

I play a lot of high quality survivors. If you're dying to anything other than a godlike nurse or spirit, it's your fault. You have the tools and resources to 1v1 any killer.

This is cocky non-sense. This game is purposely designed to NOT work in a 1v1...unless you simply mean in a chase with your teammates still in the match.
