  • I doubt they will replace Demogorgon. There is more seasons of Stranger Things to come out, it just got pushed back because of Covid. I imagine they will renew the license when they can. We will get a new map, and they will unlock the characters already in the game.

  • She's a skill based killer that can reflect the skill of the player. Therefore survivors want her nerfed so she's easy to play against.

  • After a while it becomes easier to just assume all survivors are the worst and be safe, than to be friendly and be sorry.

I play selfishly when I'm solo, and I don't care about the Survivors fun when I am Killer. A lot different than I was starting out or when I started to be good at the game.

  • If they announced something like that, less people would play the game. When are people going to realize that BHVR cares less about the players now, and more about the money.

  • I'll need to find it, but one time a dev said that the 4% isn't always exactly 4% there are some conditions that increases that chance like everyone is hooked/slugged.

  • Also now all the non-cheating players are leaving, we are seeing even more and more hackers. More players also start hacking so we see hacking even more prevalent.

Honestly I thought the game was going to take the Deathgarden route, but the game being destroyed by hackers is just as amusing to watch.

  • Idc either way, all survivors are the same and deserve the worst treatment.

  • Thrill of the Hunt, but they nerfed it so it can't counter boons

    Ah, I see.

The issue (and why a lot of Cenobite players are annoyed) is that the devs seem to be balancing around kill-rates, which are being thrown off by the difficulties of newer players have dealing with unique killer mechanics like Wraith or Pinhead. This seems to result in the devs nerfing them without being mindful of high level play (where these killers are mediocre at best).

This is understandable - as BHVR have said that they don't balance around high level play.

Where it gets frustrating is when BHVR also say that they won't, for instance, buff Nurse - despite her meme-worthy kill rates - with the implication being that she'd be too strong in high level play.

It comes over as a double standard, and a nasty one.

Yeah, everyone should just play Nurse because the game is ruined for all other Kilers.

  • You only talked about the bug fix to solving the cube and getting attacked by chains. Not all the other nerfs they are doing to Pinhead and his add-ons. Jeez man if all your going to do is suck BHVR's dick don't participate in discussions.

If you mean this from the PTB

    • Fixed an issue that may cause survivors to be attacked by the Chain Hunt while they are solving the lament configuration.

That’s actually a bug fix, it wasn’t an intentional feature. They’re not making that specific change because Pinhead was too powerful. (The add-on changes they’re making, though, are because of that.)

explain the other nerfs to pinhead

Can we just get rid of rifts? They are completely pointless as the only exclusive parts are the charms which no one cares for. The only ones I ever cared for were licensed. So Left 4 Dead. Other than that they are just a waste of resources. The skins come out shortly after and even the ones people paid for on the paid track after being resold but now in the store are just available for shards now which is kinda dumb. Makes the entire major point of the rifts... Pointless!

You pay $10 for your first rift and then it pays for itself. The challenges you can use to bank bloodpoints for chapter releases, and it actually feels rewarding unlike the main game does.

    Um... I'll keep it thanks.

  • Pretend to farm with the survivors, and then when you nearly hooked all of them twice, start to injure/slug some of them so they think you are farming the healing/hit points. Then leave 2 slugged, 1 hooked, and chase the last one. Slug, hook, and then hook the rest.

Make sure each time you hook a survivor you immediately run away from the hook, to hopefully get far enough away you don't lose too many chaser points

  • Not gonna lie, that was a great read, and you bring up some really great points. Might I interest you in reddit article from 5 years ago?

  • ... They seriously release boons to make cleansing totems less likely to happen, and you're scared of the perk that requires survivors to cleanse totems...

Why are players still upset about a useless perk like NOED?

You don't need to dismiss anyone as a cult follower just because they give you a counter argument. What a cheap tactic.

You seem to be desperately trying to make it look like this game is bad and is starting to die off, which it isn't. Of course you should look at the player count from one year ago as well, if it shows that the game has actually gained a lot of players within the last year.

I know where this game is headed. I was there for Deathgarden. It's funny how well history repeats itself, because this is happening exactly like it did for Dathgarden. The Killers are all going to leave. They are going to milk the game for the last of it's money dry, and then move on to another project.

The reason why it didn't get stopped? Because of the cult following that wouldn't allow necessary buffs come to the hunter role. The diminishing player base is proof that it's already begun.

  • @Toastyy said:

Boon totems are making killer games absolutely miserable when they’re abused. Circle of healing is absolutely broken, the fact that I can hit someone while carrying a survivor and they be healed up ready to unhook said survivor in a instant. I really hope they go down the road of making boons a limited use like Hex’s, having 3-4 survivors be able to activate a boon totem each and having to snuff out 4 of them wastes so much time and they can just bless it again when they please.

I doubt it will happen. Killers not having fun doesn't matter. Making money matters, and when 4 players had fun bullying 1 player. Then 4 players like the game, and 1 player doesn't. One leaves. Four stay.

Nobody playing Killer? Force players to play Killer with Dailies and Challenges. Get licensing for cool fictional killers from movies/series/games. People will come play Killer to play as the licensed character, stay because Survivor, and it's funny to gang up on one guy.

    Math checks out.

    Cenobite Addon Update

    • Liquified Gore: Solving time increased by 1 second (was 2 seconds)
    • Torture Pillar: Chain Hunt activation time reduced by 5 seconds (was 10 seconds)
    • Larry's Remains: Solving time increased by 2 seconds (was 4 seconds)
    • Chatterer's Tooth: Undetectable status now lasts 25 seconds (was 12 seconds)
    • Engineer's Fang: When hitting an injured Survivor with a possessed chain, only 1 additional chain will spawn
    • Iridescent Lament Configuration: Range is now 24 meters (was 16 meters)

I count 4 buffs and 3 nerfs. You, sir/madam, are wrong.

Don't we hate that people use useless add-ons getting buffed, and still being useless as an excuse to nerf add-ons that made a Killer fair.

    New Killer "The Artist" Power

Man people were pissed when they added a kpop Killer, imagine the reaction when people see they added Guy Fieri

  • I wish they would fix the scourge hooks to all spawn together near the center of the map, or they spawn spaced out better. Loading into a map where one side of the map is all 4 of your scourge hooks makes the perks useless.

  • They make Survivors even stronger, while Killers got nothing significant. Actually they released a killer perk that relies on survivors cleansing totems - which cleansing totems is even more pointless with boon totems.

Oh ya they also made unbreakable infinite, and an aoe as a boon perk.

There's 40,000 players on Steam currently in-game. That's... average. Completely normal.

You want to look at charts? Look at how many players there was exactly one year ago.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/C30G04PXCG08/image.png

Wow, almost identical to how it is now. It's almost like the game isn't losing players, contrary to what you say.

    How about two years ago?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/T07S57AZ8UD1/image.png

Again, about average. It's even more popular now than it was then.

There's a difference to a game becoming less popular, and a game coming down from a sudden and massive surge in popularity (which tends to happen during big content drops. The game's largest player count of all time was this June with the release of the Resident Evil chapter).

I don't see the point in this post. Steam probably has a much smaller playerbase compared to PlayStation and Xbox anyway, so the point is moot.

Why would we go back a whole year? Another problem with the cult fanbase, they will dig as far as they want to justify their point.

Yes the game had great growth in the past. I played this game more in the past. That much is obvious. That much everyone and their dog understands. The point of the matter is the game is less fun now than it was before, and you can see that with the amount of players decreasing slowly overtime, and the game only staying afloat by events and chapter releases.

As said before. We all want this game to keep growing, and be successful. No one is out to get you, but you're only hurting the game ignoring the clear issues, and that's what BHVR want's you to do because then they don't have to put the money into fixing it.

Behaviour didnt make back its player base ? Maybe because they never left 😂

20% of the player base is a significant amount. In the industry that is alarming.

  • If it's a killer that can reflect the Killer players skill, and their win isn't up to a chance. Then the survivor player base wants it gutted.

  • People have already stopped playing Killer.

  • What boycott? Also a single surge in players for an event, during Halloween - FOR A HORROR GAME - FOR FREE does not disprove the stagnant case of players since August where we lost 11,359.7 Avg. Players.

Also learn about what you're talking about.

If I being honest I can't take most people seriously on this forum when they suggest things for balance. I'm sorry to be rude but some ideas are just so terrible that I glad the devs don't listen to the community when it comes to feedback sometimes. It just seems like the majority of people on here don't want the game to be balanced they just want to make one side completely terrible and the game uneven.

Maybe I'm just being ridiculous myself but do people here even want balance for both sides?

I see the same, but understand that it's mostly due to a difference of perception. Is the player a Killer or Survivor main? Do they mostly play solo? Do they mostly play SWF/KYF? Are they experienced? They may be experienced but are they skilled? Are they knowledgeable of the game? How has their recent matches gone?

All these factors and more contribute to peoples ideas, and reasoning for those ideas. It's not easy finding someone who is right when they are right at a certain perspective.

It's almost like this is an asymmetrical game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/293155/atrocious-learning-curve-for-new-killers

My honest opinion is the devs do not want players to main killer. They want you to main survivor and then maybe once every 5 to 10 games you'll play a killer game to do a challenge in the archive or to clear out your daily rituals which are oddly killer weighted. If people main killer that's an issue for queues due to the 4v1 nature. So it would be better for them if people just were survivor mains and only touched killer for a now and then challenge. I think the balance clearly reflects this as has numerous interviews with the devs.

Which we can tell what that's already causing. Killers just doing their challenges then going afk the rest of the match.

  • I cap my game to 60fps, even though my computer can run higher. Honestly imo the cap should be 60. This game would be terrible with only 30fps.

Is that seriously what you have to play on the Switch?

Also I think Dead by Daylight should take the For Honor route and require players to have a fast connection to play - if you don't meet the requirement the server just boots you from matchmaking with an alert telling you need a faster connection to play. It would be better for the server load too.

  • @Vampwire said:

They do it with almost every cosmetic. Nothing in this game is exclusive anymore since its more profitable to be able to sell it again later. Same goes with everything in the rift.

Which isn't bad. A majority of their player base are completionists, and Dead by Daylight isn't a game meant to be played without breaks. It would be very bad business if players took a break, and came back to learn they have 0 chance of completing their collections - they would just leave for a game where they can.

  • Pinheads in the game? I think I remembered something about voice lines then they removed the character.

  • As someone who put in the work to learn how to play Survivor and Killer - this is true. I had to put in so much more time learning Killer, and every killer than I ever did for Survivor. With the old ranking system I took 1 day learning survivor and got rank 1 in a week. I took several weeks learning killer and get rank 1 at some point during all that time. The worst part of it all, it's just so much more stressful.

  • It shouldn't be that hard.

    How to Play Survivor;

    1. Hold m1 on gens.
    2. Watch a 5 minute video on looping
    3. Win 60%+ of your games

    How to Play Killer;

    1. Learn each map layout, tile spawns, totem spawns, gen spawns, where survivors are most likely going to spawn compared to where the killer spawns.
    2. Learn your character, how their power works, are they a different speed, how big is their terror radius
    3. track your red stain, know how to hide it
    4. learn how to back track
    5. learn every tile, learn what is a strong loop and weak loop, learn how to push survivors to the short end of a loop. Learn unique tiles and buildings on specific maps
    6. know when to change targets, know when to stay on the current target
    7. learn how to play around body blocking, flashlight saves, and pallet saves
    8. learn how long it takes for a survivor to finish a gen
    9. learn how to gauge the time of the game
    10. learn how to time each of your perks
    11. learn how to calculate and track healing times, gen times, bt, ds, exhaustion, head on
    12. learn how to calculate and track which survivor was on which hook
    13. DON'T FORGET TO WATCH FOR IMMERSIVE SURVIVORS
    14. Are you still with me?
    15. Learn how to patrol, including your totems - so many killers don't know how to patrol their totems
    16. How to patrol doors
    17. know when to slug, when to pick up a slugged survivor
    18. know when to tunnel
    19. know when to camp
    20. know when to proxy camp
    21. know when go to the other side of the map to chase a certain survivor
    22. After all this Winning is still just a chance based on the skill of the Survivors.

Like these people are not even trying anymore to hide that they are only coming on the forums to sabotage discussions so the game stays survivor sided -_-. They don't read the posts, and they just say whatever it takes to make Killer problems look like a non-issue.

    LOL not at all 😂

Server sided = the player with the lowest ping is favored, period.

And most action are still killer sided...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/185864/news-hit-validation-beta

It's not working like that. You see it all the time. I experience it myself. Survivors are always getting favored by the server. Myself and streamers whose literal jobs require them to have good connections should not be losing too hit validation.

  • Just play Survivor instead. Hit Validation is survivor sided even when the survivors ping is bad. It looks at the survivors perspective first and then chooses a place between them - and that always means a miss for the Killer.

When they could of just made it so the server favors whoever had the better connection.

But why do that? Because then 4 survivors with bad connections would complain - compared to one killer complaining.

I normally play with 20ms, take pride in a high end computer and great connection. Just to be punished by their bad idea of a "hit validation", so I stopped playing.

  • Hackers are still a problem months after they started being a problem.

  • @Sunbreaker7 said:

DC against camping/tunneling is just pathetic. Just die on the hook, it doesn't sound like he is keeping you hostage.

They do take the game hostage though. Had a hacker activate infinite bloodwarden on the doors, and stop the egc timer. Then spent 40 minutes bouncing on top of the end gate. I didn't think it would take 40 minutes so I went afk to watch netflix, then lost track of time to realize they still were taking the game hostage.

  • Survivors are still hiding to wait for hatch.

  • Don't sacrifice survivors.

    Don't escape as Survivor.

The ol’ hit and run, hook trading, fair game, GG’s all round play style is just not possible anymore, not with the sorry state that killer games are in

gens are flying faster than the speed of light, heals are lightning fast and infinite with boons, scratch marks and none existent

it’s just not viable anymore to switch targets and “play fair”

with each update tunnelling and camping become more and more necessary just to confirm at least one kill before the final generator pops, without it most killers just can’t apply enough pressure on teams, with the exception of certain killers. Blight, Nurse ect

do the devs honestly believe this is fair? Or fun for killers in that regard. I don’t want to tunnel and camp, but if I’m playing an M1 killer against toolbox’s, Prove Thyself, Brand New Part’s, Boons and other meta perks then I don’t really have a choice do I?

They also removed the aspect of "The killer is going to catch you at some point", now it's "The Killer might catch you by the end of the game"

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

They aren't actually doing that or my queues would be even faster. They lie! Go play survivor, please. I want 1 second queues, or bust.

You get slow ques because a lot of survivors don't make it to high mmr unless they are hacking or are playing back to back in a swf. Solo survivors die more often (even earning pips and having longer games so it still feels like a win for most), so they stay in the mid/low range of elo.

Also the mmr is going to do it's best to place you against 1-3 survivors that are close to your mmr, or lower and 1-3 survivors that are close to your mmr or higher, so when in mid elo you are going to kill at least 1-2 survivors increasing your elo. It's not easy to go down in mmr as Killer. It's easy to go down in mmr as Survivor.

So the longer wait time as Killer is because it takes time to check each distance and elo bracket before you find a match. Not because there is a lot of killer players.

  • Can someone at least tell us why they were removed instead of being made inaccessible?
