The DC penalty literally exists to keep people like you from ruining the game, that is why.

If anything, they really need a 10 minute surrender to address the only valid gameplay related reason for leaving, being held hostage.

It's not only about you though. If a person isn't having fun they shouldn't be forced to stay. If a person is being taken hostage by a hacker they shouldn't be given a penalty for leaving. If someone is facing cheaters they shouldn't be given a penalty for leaving. If matchmaking put an average killer against a team of the top survivors they shouldn't be penalized for leaving.

You are encouraging bullying and toxicity as the platform for this games fun.

  • I am all for removing the end game chat entirely. BHVR doesn't seem to like the idea of removing it.

Why not at least just remove end game chat for Killer. Then Survivors can have their piss party, and Killer has no way of being impacted by that.

Another good idea is making the end game chat something you can't open in the end game lobby, but rather you have to turn on as a setting before the game starts. Then even if the game doesn't go well you don't have a button taunting you like "I got to know what they are saying" or "That went well I am sure they said GG", just to open the chat to be swarmed by bigotry, and harassment.

  • Perhaps the worst part of it all is the devs have been told hundred if not thousands of times about this issue and it's been ignored or blame averted back to the person that's trying to give them feedback.

This is it right here. They don't take feedback from Killers because the killer players are not of the Mods/Managers favorites. Their favorite group are basically exclusively survivor sided, and a friend group. The favorite group stalks out threads like these and tries to derail them and bully the OP into complying or tries to get them banned.

This is what the game has come to. Dev's and the business doesn't care because they are still making more money off new chapters with licensing they don't see what's coming if things don't change.

If these things are bothering you, I'd suggest just turning off end game chat

That's not a solution. That's a band aid for a much bigger problem.

I have some side questions about all that. Several patches ago the devs disabled recording DBD games for our Switch cousins. How could they successfully report a hacker/cheater? And how can anyone on console come up with Steam ID's for a report either?

Sounds to me like any report coming from consoles would be incomplete each time, lessening the chances of being acted upon to what? None?

    1. As inconvenient as it is, they will have to buy an external device to record gameplay, and then upload it to social media.
    2. You can use https://steamid.io/ to lookup anyone's steam account and info, just more difficult if all you have is a Username.

You're absolutely right. The process is difficult and convoluted. One of the few reasons why Dead by Daylight has such an extreme issue with hackers/cheaters.

Is it really wrong tho? When have you ever seen anyone get banned for it?

    Got any proof?

If you wanna claim it's wrong the circumstance of providing proof lies on you

Well two things are against "Da Rulez", farming isn't actually allowed unless all parties seem to be involved in it (Requires video proof). Also going afk isn't allowed and multiple cases could end up a temp suspension on your account, but also requires video proof.

So it goes down a line.

    1. Player breaks da rulez.
    2. Player needs to be recorded with some kind of replay recording device - a lot of times screenshots isn't even enough.
    3. Player needs to be reported in end game scoreboard screen.
    4. Reporter needs to upload video to a shareable video site like YouTube.
    5. Player needs to be reported via ticket at the BHVR support webpage. This must include; Link to the video of them breaking the rules. Players Username, steamID64 (Not available for consoles, windows, or Epic store)(Steam Only). Your Username/SteamID64.
    6. This has to happen multiple times, in a short time span. Like if a player afks one match, and then isn't reported for afking again like a week later. It's not likely any action would be taken.

Which is a lot of steps, and not very simple to do unless you've already done it quite a few times, and again a lot of work for something that will most likely be thrown out in a weeks time when no one else makes the same report - because it's a hassle to do. So it's very rarely ever a punishable offence.

But to answer your question; Yes, it is ban able.

  • There most likely will be a Christmas sale.

Somehow i have a feeling that the people in charge of the balancing are not aware of this.

Seeing how I am having 15min-20min que times as Survivor and nearly instant ques as Killer (sorry low mmr survivors I can't make your lobbies faster). Also 4 of the 7 games I had today the Killer left.

I am sure they can at least see it in the stats.

Survivors have everything they need in game, including additional chances for free escapes.

Which is 5 seconds they're walking at 2.26m/s, covering a total of 11.3m instead of the usual 20 (a difference of 8.7m). For reference, in those 5 seconds, the killer will be moving at 4.4m/s or 4.6m/s, allowing them to cover 22m or 23m respectively. While this doesn't sound like much, it will enable a killer to catch up a lot faster, assuming both sides do nothing but hold forward and the survivors leave the generator as soon as they hear the heartbeat.

In a game where every second counts, 5 seconds of moving at half speed every time you're chased off of a generator, particularly with Hex:Ruin active (near the start of the game, usually), is very beneficial to getting early game pressure.

So run normally to the nearest the safe area as usually and you will get cleansed when you stand 5 seconds at the corner of a loop. It's really not that hard to play around. It's not worth a whole perk slot in comparison to other perks.

Hex: Ruin would get cleansed at the start of the match, Hexes are not reliable perks.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I've been saying this for a year, back when it was just Exhaustion, but no apparnetly you need 4x slowdown perks on Nurse and Blight.

I love the perk and use it on high-mobility killers. Used to use it on my main man Pyramid Head too but DH doesn't do much vs him and it really does feel like he needs at least 2 slowdown.

It's literally countered by walking for 5 seconds.

Identity V is on a totally different level. Both killers and survs are very OP there. You would have sprint burst, adrenaline burst, vault burst, pallet burst, flare guns and shoulder tackles to stun killers, magic books, decoys, clones and what not. 99% killers just facecamp in that game and everyone in chat there seem to have made peace with it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2643777#Comment_2643777

Well if there is one thing that survivors are entitled to, It is "surviving". It is like Rick Grimes from TWD would say "We know what needs to be done and we do it, We are the ones who live." 😋

That had nothing to do with the quick message system.

  • We should do a scavenger hunt for the mods sometime.

Idk man giving a basekit totem counter (info SWF have for free) as well as deleting blindness and giving a whole lot of aura reading base (so info SWF have for free) would be pretty good

I look at it this way. Why are SWF so strong? Communication. How do we close the gap between Solo and SWF? Communication. Should we add in game voice chat or proxy chat? No. Are you bonkers? Last thing we need is some 12 year old telling me about my mom all game.

    This would be enough

    image.png

An in game quick message system, and to avoid spamming the messages. Make a 10 second cooldown between messages.

  • @ManOMaker said:

To respond to the title: no because then no one would play with swfs meaning no one could play survivor with their friends.

Astounding logic. Nobody wants to play against SWF. There is no problem with SWF.

  • Players that headshot enemies at the start of the round in COD? Why? Just curious... Even if the opportunity presents itself, is that even fun?

That's how you sound. Don't start the round off in COD running out in the open.

My dream is to swf with Sluzzy. I want to experience his greatness in a lobby, just once. My life would be complete.

I faced Sluzzy once, they dc'd when I downed them with a hatchet from across the map after they finished a gen. Well at least their name was Sluzzy and was playing Laurie.

Felt bad for the team because it cost them the game at that point. It was Haddonfield too, so they had a good chance.

  • All information. Not much you can do against a Nurse that knows where everyone is all of the time. BBQ, Bitter, Infectious, Tinkerers

  • Billy. Nothing feels better then dashing across the map, and then smoothly rounding into an a survivor

  • When you get tired of being bullied by survivors, you just join them.

  • I think it's dumb that anyone considers skill based on which side they enjoy playing more.

The forums is just too full of people assuming each others skill, no wonder we can never have a concrete discussion.

  • Remember that bug when you could hug the wall around the hole in the floor upstairs, so the Killer couldn't reach you. I miss watching them fall trying to hit survivors or pick someone up.

I may miss Nurses secret room more.

    Bro, not cool.

  • Bloodhound - When you hit a survivor the entity takes them immediately.

    Finally a balanced perk.

  • Not at all. Everyone in my friend groups despise this game.

  • Agreed, there isn't much sense binning the map. Revise it, and re-release it as a map for another chapter.

  • Discordance, DH, No Way Out - the fourth perk compliments the Killer.

That's pretty much all I run at the moment.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2638936#Comment_2638936

Totally untrue. Virtually all the disconnects and ragequits I see are immediately after downs or grabs or hooks. These are bug or computer performance or hacking related at all.

I would stop playing dbd too if I was playing on the Switch and got downed by a Killer 30m away

  • @dugman said:

Sore losing explains 95% of ragequits. I have zero sympathy for people who ragequit, they’re selfish jerks ruining the game for four other people when they do it.

And yes, there are noticeably fewer disconnects when the DC penalty is turned on. When the penalty is off the number of ragequits can be pretty ridiculous.

Most DC's are because of cheaters, poor performance, and bugs.

Except that the vast, vast majority of DCs are not against hackers. Only a tiny minority of DbD players hack - and of those that do, most are subtle about it.

When people say 'I'm not having fun' they mostly mean 'I don't think I'll have an easy win'. I see maybe 1 DC every 4 games, sometimes every 3. Those are unacceptable numbers.

'If I don't win EZ I DC' is a terrible thing to advocate for - because it means that the killer gets less BP and the other 3 players now have to suffer through a loss.

If you aren't having fun, don't play the game. Don't sabotage the game for 4 other players.

Have been playing the game recently? There is a hacker in like every game, every second game, and you can't even make a smurf account to get away from them because the hackers that get banned just make new accounts - so their are hackers all over the new player games as well.

Maybe you just didn't notice because you didn't take the time to learn the natural details of everything in the game to catch "subtle hackers".

Pinhead's voicelines were on a beta build that wasn't final, and is not something that was in the description of the DLC. They clarified that it was removed in the patch notes. The removal was completely fair.

Stranger Things leaving states that the map will permanently be gone and that this is the last occasion to buy stranger things content until the 17th. If they went back on this, they would be straight up lying.

Don't say "lying" they never said that it will never come back. They said this is your last chance to buy it - at this moment.

Just like they advertised Pinhead's voicelines everywhere, and then took them out in just the ptb as "they were beta build, and not final" and "We didn't include them in the dlc description". They also never said that the voice lines will never come back, so buy the DLC - because they "could" come back.

BHVR doesn't lie, or break the law. However they will mislead you to make more money - like any smart company would.

I don’t see that. Steve and Nancy were imo among the more popular characters..

also Resident Evil only got added after their attempt at an 4v1 asymmetric game failed.

but sure i could be wrong about this. I would gladly take another map for Stranger Things and other characters , eg Robin. We will see what the future holds but for now I will assume ST is gone for good.

It didn't fail it was a cash grab like all Resident Evil add-on games and one of their most successful. Don't compare apples to orchards.

I still find it funny when people use Resistance as "failing" as an argument in favor of DBD, had that game gone stand alone - Dead by Daylight would have been struggling. But this isn't the market that triple A companies make most of their money.

  • I don't care when players leave. It's a casual game and I will never be fine with players being forced to play a GAME they are not having fun in. That's why it's a game - to have fun.

It's so many DC's before that player quits the game entirely if they are leaving games because it's unfun.

What makes even less sense is players being forced to stay in games against hackers, and rule breakers. It makes even less sense to be punished because of performance issues, and server issues. It makes even less sense to be punished for having to DC because of bugs.

It also doesn't make sense that Survivors can suicide on hook, but Killers are forced to wait out till the end of a match.

    @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/294736/i-dont-really-understand-the-mentality-of-quitters-in-dbd

    It's usually not about quitting.

    It's about being BM.

You are basically throwing a sulk because you might have had a more challenging game than usual.

Honestly, if I were in charge of the system, I'd introduce something like LeaverBuster in LoL. People who persistently DC would wind up with lengthy bans and eventually a perma.

Like, I understand that sometimes you have internet issues, or a rare crash. I even understand occasionally DCing after you get sent to RPD or Haddonfield multiple times in a row. Sometimes you have to DC, for example when a hacker traps you in a game and goes AFK.

However, with how commonly people DC in my games (and I'm not even particularly cheesy/nasty unless you BM me) this cannot possibly be a rare occurrence. It's so bad that some people in SWFs will even tactically DC to give their friend the hatch or to break certain killer perks (NWO/BW etc. that rely on hooks).

This game isn't clean enough like League of Legends to have a harsh leaver penalty.

I find that unlikely. They've already shown they can support other seasons through the cosmetics. Hawkins lab is iconic to Stranger Things so it'd be weird for the map to be removed because there's new locations.

Also they have said stuff like the map is gone permanently, and emphasised how last chance it is to get the characters. They've already done things like re name the perks and many people have already gotten the cosmetics much cheaper than originally intended so it would be less profitable for both sides in the agreement to bring it back.

Wow, BHVR making something sound critical for more profit. That never happened before. cough voice lines cough.

Last chance to get the characters - until they are brought back to the store.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2637851#Comment_2637851

It’s not about a single game though, that already existed before. Actually I think there were already 2 or 3 Stranger Things games.

it’s about a new gaming Service or platform Netflix is trying to establish. And Stranger Things content in another game could be viewed as a direct competitor since it’s one of the biggest franchises for Netflix.

It's like Resident Evil. Dead by Daylight having a Killer featured in the game for a specific franchise is strictly only advertising that the license owner is being paid for. Which the owner of the Stranger Things license is Netflix. They are pretty smart, and I highly doubt they would look at Dead by Daylight being competition over free advertising, like it is for every other license that Dead by Daylight pays for.

If I am putting my money on any reason why BHVR didn't renew the license was because the chapter wasn't making enough money. Demogorgon was never a very strong killer, and personally I haven't seen them played much. Either the characters. Up until they started to talk about how the product was leaving the store. It was all a money making idea on something that wasn't bringing in a lot of money. When Stranger Things is popular again on Netflix, we'll see the License come back on Dead by Daylight.

  • Why not just add in game messages for things like;

    • Focus on Repairing!
    • I'm Going For The Unhook!
    • Help Me!
    • Run! I'm Going For Hatch!
    • Sorry...
    • Thank-you!
    • Come On! Keep It Up!
    • Awesome!
    • Get away from me!
    • Open the gates! I'll save the others!
    • Follow me!
    • Don't rescue me!
    • The hunter is close! Hide!

    etc, etc, etc

I'm not mentioning the game I stole these from, but it's a game that has literally everything everyone else has been asking for since Dead by Daylights creation.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2637823#Comment_2637823

Netflix is trying to get their own Gaming service and all, that’s the most likely reason why they didn’t renew the license for DbD.

so it’s very unlikely they will renew the license anytime in the near future.

Do you mean Stranger Things: 1984? Yes. Netflix already has games it's apart of the Netflix App, and there is already a Stranger Things game on it. Doesn't mean BHVR can't get the licensing for Stranger Things as well. They both can have games for Stranger Things at the same time. There are a lot of reasons why BHVR lost the licensing for Stranger Things, but I doubt "because Netflix wanted to make their own game" was the reason. When Netflix could do that anytime even with BHVR paying for licensing.

You'll probably never know the real reason as BHVR doesn't speak publicly about their standings with licensing.

  • Slow down. Who's been cleansing totems since the release of boon totems? Personally I basically seen Hex perks become non-existent, and cleansing totems became detrimental. Have seen more NOEDs more often.
