I agree, half the time the Nurse player is probably doing their daily and can't play her. So far, i've only come across one comp Nurse and the game started badly anyway cause she found the first survivor inside the locker 15-20 seconds in the game.
I do think it's bullshit that with aura perks she can make up for the only "weakness" she has which is line of sight and I wish we as survivors had more tools to deny info. Distortion is one of them and the other is very niche like Residual Manifest which is the only survivor perk that causes Blindness to killer and you need to blind them first (which how will you do with Nurse anyway, it's not like she breaks pallets or vaults walls).

Friend, I'm happy to discuss things further, but the snarkiness is not necessary.
The changes we made in 6.1.0 were not solely based on stats. When looking at gameplay, it was clear that Killers were having a rough time doing what they need to do - killing, and this was in no small part due to things like generator repair times. Each of the changes we made were related to issues that many people have brought up. I would encourage you to read through the Developer Updates we posted around that time where we explained our reasoning behind each of the changes.
Beyond that, the data we have access to is far more details than averages, which allows us to do deeper dives and reveal more than just a kill rate.
Again, stats can show you where a problem might be, but they do not paint a full picture.
Can we also get winrates by perk? I think that will also add to the whole story. Like obviously if someone is playing optimal Nurse is gonna have a very different game than someone playing "nice" Nurse. Or someone who plays killers with no perks or not full perks. Don't those also affect the killrate? I understand that they are not the majority, my point is just. Can you track which builds per killer have the highest and lowest killrate and if yes, would you be able to share them?

It's not impossible. However, bear in mind there was also a bug not too long ago that also made survivors crawl faster. This is what makes it so annoying, sometimes it's so hard to tell if it's a bug or something more sinister. 😕
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3233326#Comment_3233326
That is outright trolling but all very scary as well as everyone will assume the person with the extra perks is the cheater - especially when it's the killer. I was actually so glad that I was recording the game where it happened to me as I felt I would have some counter-proof if the killer thought I was cheating (and then it also enabled me to be proactive and report immediately with evidence). However, I also know that most players wont be recording their games in the background because it's a hassle and needs the set up/hardware/software/commitment.
I didn't know there was a bug of that kind. I guess this game has too many bugs.

Yes, cheaters can put a cheat on their teammates! When I was playing survivor someone put Flip Flop on me. I was so confused myself at first and the killer probably thought I legit had the perk but I didn't. Turned into a game of "Among Us" for me. 🙈 I managed to catch her (and record + report) though. 😏
It felt like I had Tenacity tbh, but the game didn;t go well, so I don't know who had the cheats. Teammate or Killer?, killer seemed a bit sus but maybe I'm biased. Just felt he was at the right place at the right time? Idk. Maybe he was too good for me, who knows. Maybe it was Leon who only got hooked at the end and he was mostly missing.

No worries, killer or survivor, same #########, a lot of killer with infinite wallhack is also in game, and that's what disgust me of the game, survivor with hyperspeed and killer with superwallhack without perks...
I always get suspicious of killers who show up at the right time everytime, but sometimes the game lasts too long after I've died to see what perks they had. I wish people who are solo could see killer perks as soon as they're out.
-
To be honest I did have a weird moment in a game earlier. When the killer downed me my crawling speed felt faster than normal, so I wonder if there was a cheater in the game. The survivors I played with didn't seem to be doing anything weirdly uncommon, but the killer felt a bit weird, but then why would he buff us?
Too bad I didn't record that game.
Is ther a cheat that can give the rest of the team a buff?
-
Weren't people claiming ti would be lower on high MMR and higher on low MMR last times the stats were shared? Really surprised it's the inverse.

It's been opposite with me. Every Mikeala in my match has been the most helpful. It's the Yui's and the David's that haven't been helping in my matches.
David's have also been bothersome. Yui i would say mostly helpful. But David's are usually newbies or they are going for adept and running No Mither.

@IWantCandys said:
Please folks, don't put all Mikaelas in the same drawer.
It's not the character, it's the player. MIkaela is my main and I'm a team player. I don't know how often I end up being the one who is sacrificed when an exit is already open because I can't bring myself to leave a teammate behind.
Yesterday I had a match with a 3 man swf against a plaque. They have done everything wrong that can be done wrong against this killer, and no, they weren´t new. They were always on the hook. I did gens, I unhooked, I was constantly on the move. In the end it was just me and an ace left, then I got knocked down and the killer left me on the ground looking for the ace. Well, instead of helping me like I've been helping him and his friends the whole game, he hid and wanted to wait for me to bleed out. When the killer realized that Ace wasn't coming to help me, he picked me up and let me wiggle free and then started looking for Ace. But he hid like a rat. At some point I got so bored that I ran into the basement and signaled the killer with a hand sign that he should please down me and hook me.
It's not always just Mikaela's that are the useless part of the match and it´s annoying if some people doodge lobbys just because they see a specific character and assume they are bad. We are not all the same! Thx !
I like Mikaela the survivor, she was the first one I bought once I had 9k Iri shards, it's just that my last few matches with Mikaela have been very iffy.
Even earlier I ran a Legion for 3-4 gens and got hooked not far from the gate. David and Mikaela hadn't been hooked once, Mikaela was running around but she never commited to saving me, we could have all gotten out. Legion wasn't even that good. He didn't know that his power worked only once per target, but in the end he was face camping me. If she had un hooked me I would have body blocked for her with basekit BT. Not all Mikaela's are bad, but for some reason it seems to attract some kind of player? Just like Nea's have the whole toxic neon Nea stereotype, but also the urban evasion stereotype.
Playing with a 3-man or even 2-man SWF is a surefire way to get sacrificed if their teammate got hooked and they cannot prioritize. Like if you get hooked first and their teammate later then you should be saved first because you hit stage 2 or die. I know that kind of pain.
-
@TheSubstitute said:
Yeah, I had a match where I was playing Demogorgon on Swamp and my only chance of winning was holding a 3 gen. I very rarely play Demo so I was expecting to get bodied and my prediction was holding up.
However, everytime the Mikaela was hit she would run away and Self Care behind a tree somewhere without Botany Knowledge. No boon perks either; just Self Care. I have no idea why someone who obviously has CoH would instead bring Self Care without Botany Knowledge. She was an Urban Evader as well so she probably cost her team the game. She was a good looper and knew the map well so I would think she would know the time issue with Self Care vs CoH.
I ate her head at endgame (DH 5 stack) and the only other remaining survivor at endgame got the gate. A bit more efficiency and the whole team would have escaped. She had Balanced Landing as well so maybe a Nea main doing the Tome challenge?
Maybe she came back for the event? Like the only reason I can think of a looper running Self-care is if they don't know it has gotten nerfed. And still it's bad to go in a corner and self-care for 45sec. At least of the vids I've seen when Self-care was still ok, you were supposed to do it mid chase.

This add-on is single handedly the longest increase in blindness duration out of any add-on. More than the intense halogen and even more than the odd bulb.
I understand that blindness duration is not very important to a flashlight, with battery and range being more useful, but by stacking a purple flashlight, broken bulb and odd bulb, you can get a nearly 4 second blind. If you do this after stunning the killer, or chain blinding, this might be incredibly fun as long as you're not injured.
Also I'm surprised no youtubers have made a "INFINITE BLIND BUILD? (NERF??)" type video
No one made that video you say?

I wish It wasn't. it shouldn't be. No one should be rewarded with an escape if they haven't done anything to earn it. I personally think they need to rework the hatch and how it unlocks to be based around bloodpoint earnings. For instance the hatch will only appear for the final survivor if they managed to score 18k+ during the match. If the final survivor does not have 18k score, then the game immediately goes to endgame collapse.
Yeah but the problem with that is games that last little, or people who have been doing gens, since even if you do 3 gens alone you don't get all that many BP.
-
@RoastedGarlic said:
They nerfed it instead of adding a way to opt out of it. So yeah no one wants to use the current version. I run it sometimes but most cases I don't have it when I need it, and have it when I don't so I seldomly get any value out of it.
Yeah that's how it feels most times. Maybe if they increased the range a little it'd be a lot better.

There are a lot of players who do that kind of thing unfortunately. Whether it's because they're new to the game, they're trying to do a Hatch challenge, they think the game is lost and just go into hiding mode, don't like the killer so they just throw the game, or what but it happens a lot. Not much you can do about it except move on.
The thing is this game was won if she was more useful, lol.
And just now my team let me die on first hook although i ran Legion while they got 3-4 gens and 2 of them had no hooks. Such a weird game.
-
I thought the event would be fun but with all the DC's they occur even more than usual, it's insane. I also got my cosmetics as of today but it still is annoying when they game becomes so much harder. There's also a bigger ocurrance of people who have no idea how to play, makes it more frustrating than it has to be.
-
Make Bond two way maybe? I think it would help soloq a lot if you could see your teammates that are close to you and they could also see you. I would consider running it to be honest.
Aftercare can stay the same and there is no limit to the distance you can see survivors and they can see you and maybe it needs something extra cause it's a bit underwhelming atm.Actually scratch that. People you have unhooked or heal should also be able to see people they unhook or heal. I think that would be quite nice for soloq if you want to play as a team, and maybe for your teammates they can have a cooldown? Like be able to see survivors they healed, got healed by or unhooked for 30 secs or something. Of course this cycle starts with you and is reinforced everytime? And it stops having an effect when you die?
-
So you're blind and then you sound also be deaf? How are you supposed to play around him then? I literally can't see anything and indoor maps are worse.
I like the fact that for stealth killers you have to rely on your other senses and atm the only senses we can utilize is just eyesight and hearing.

The important thing would be that, if three survivors die, then the 4th survivor should lose some MMR even if they escape. We shouldn’t reward people for excessively hiding, and waiting for everyone else to die.
A contribution system might work too, where we take the total number of seconds spent repairing and being in chase, and somehow reward and punish accordingly. Maybe if a survivor’s MMR is supposed to go up, they could get bonus MMR if they did a high % of the contributions. And if a survivor’s MMR is supposed to go down, they would lose less MMR if they did a high % of the contributions. This could encourage the last two survivors to continue repairing, instead of trying to hide and seek for 5-15 minutes, which is what ends up happening a lot in my games.
You don't know if the 4th one won by hiding or not though. They could have done 2 gens and rescued etc. I agree we shouldn't reward people who hide all game or crouch all game, no disagreement there.

I play on a controller on PC though, and flashlights are so hard to use. God knows how many flashlights I've lost trying to learn it but it requires a lot of preparation, you need to start positioning your camera before you decide to blind, as well as position yourself to help you out. I haven't tried the new flashlights yet but on the old ones I'd make sure I hid killer with my body (on my camera like after pallet) and probably my head was in the middle of the screen hiding theirs(?) and after I'd just press the flashlight button. It's too hard to flashlight and guide it, so I tried to adapt by getting the correct position of the hand before hand, pun not intended).
I play female survivors so it might be a bit different on male survivors.
I never got it consistently and it doesn't help that flashlights are limited (and most of the times they are imo less reliable than other items to win). Don't even ask about flashlight saves.
I'd like to train on custom but you need a decent environment that can simulate a real game. Think I'll wait once they fix the current bug after their rework.

I have done it out of spite because team mates waste so much time booning it drives me mad. Sure, set up a boon but when a killer keeps stomping the same one and a team mate keeps booning over and over it is all time we could have spent on gens and already be in the next match.
True, booning can be a double edged sword and people spending too much time doing that instead of gens, especially if they're bad at finding totems in the first place.
-
From reading your title I thought you wanted SWF to have their own MMR, which would make kind of sense? Like a 4-man SWF would get matched with a slightly higher MMR killer.
@foodie said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3227083#Comment_3227083
Most play in SWF and those same SWF groups will have no trouble leaving the solo player instead of helping when they're able to. SWF don't show team play to anyone else other than their buddies. There are exceptions to this, but if you're a solo player and you can leave, you leave.
If you think you can save without going down yourself, ok, but otherwise, it's best to leave.
This happened to me yesterday. Just seeing 3 people grouped up together on the other end of the map is too much. Even if they're doing a gen all-together. I thought 2 would be enough?
@Coffeecrashing said:
Team based MMR should be a major priority. This game needs to push survivors into working as a team, instead of rewarding them for playing selfishly.
This is more important than giving solo q buffs, because selfish players would just use the solo q buffs to play more selfishly.
Ok, that's not a bad idea but isn't it kind of a trap? The way I understand it is the more team members escape the higher the MMR gain? Doesn't that have the potential to lead to the altruistic trap of throwing end game because one or two get caught and then everyone dies somehow trying to save the others? Just a question. Maybe it could be a hybrid. Like say, if you died first but the team escaped you can gain some MMR, but they each individually gain a bit more since you know, they did escape?
And what about a player who is simply bad and gets caught at 5-4 gens without having contributed and suicides as a result handicapping the team, but they still somehow all escape? Should such a player be rewarded with MMR?
Maybe the game should also take account how much one contributed before dying and when they died?

I was playing Mikaela once and had a Haddie in my team, she probably was cleansing every totem and finding them faster than me. I'm surprised I even managed to bless one.
@Mooks said:
Just had a Mikaela waving at me so canceled cleansing. Just for her to cleanse the totem -.-
those were my 1K BP.
(also Mikaelas are kinda the new Meg-Heads, especially when in a group)
That is pretty true. There have been so many noteworthy Mikaela moments I remember. Mikaela going around looking for boons and blocking me while I'm getting chased (it was an accident).
Mikaela trying to come save me from the hook and falling into a hole😂
Mikaela not doing gens 2-3 mins into the game cause they still can't find their boon.
Mikaela trying to unhook me and a zombie downs her.
I dunno if I should be mad at her, they're just hilarious.
-
What about seeing 3 people on the same gen on the other end of the map when you're about to hit stage 2 on your hook?😂
Frustrating in a different sort of way, team just deciding to turn you into a sacrificial lamb. Somehow I ended up making it to the end of the game after Bill saved me (we could do the last gen).
They're both frustrating, in the first case cause you don't stand a chance to ever get those gens done and in the second cause you won't really get to play much. If they're SWF and they're buddy gets hooked while you're on hook as well you know they're getting prioritized.
-
I also can't reveal him. I remember on RPD he was behind a low obstacle and I could see more than half of him, but it would not reveal him even if he was in the middle of my screen and he exposed me instead, lol.

Ah okay that explains a lot in this case then as I have seen a lot of obviously new killers start their killering career hard camping and tunnelling as they assume that is how everyone must play the game lol. Probably a good point that so many are Huntress as she is indeed free and quite popular too
You can get away with it though, and if survivors is trying to bodyblock or catch your attention they do get hit after all in their attempt to save their teammate. I would guess the counter to that is doing gens but that still guarantees a kill and maybe more until all gens are done.
-
@MaTtRoSiTy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3226623#Comment_3226623
Huntress is a pretty effective camping killer too I guess but I just find an unusually high number of them will camp and hard tunnel for the most trivial reasons or no reason at all
Can't say I haven't seen it happen. I remember going against a Huntress who was tunneling David hard and we all had to come bodyblock to protect him.
I think it's a natural instinct for newer players because the people I've seen camp and tunnel the most is indeed the newer ones, this Huntress had like only one perk unlocked but David was also a newbie. And Huntress is free from the start so it's only natural new players would play her, and most often than not they do get away with it if left unchecked. (not just Huntress, anyone who tunnels even if they're simply new)
-
I've also had days where games have been a dumpster fire, might that more people are playing now cause of the new tome and Halloween event coming up and it could also be the time of the day. if it's evening you get all sorts of players.
I played with a Jake earlier who was prestige 9 (meaning he's been playing for a while) and ran No Mither and died first without doing any gens. Go figure.
-
@MaTtRoSiTy said:
Why is it always a Huntress who does this lol? Are they all part of a subreddit or something?
I guess it's because most often than not if they can hit their hatchets they can get more than 1 kills that way but this one decided to throw (besides Yui she only has one more hook on Rebecca who funnily enough brought the offering and in the end still escaped)
-
I think people have a point. If Decisive Strike was still meta you could claim the same thing, as it comes only with a paid DLC (Laurie Strode).
After people complained about camping killers, the answer was Reassure belong to Rebecca who is also a licensed DLC character. The same can be claimed about her perk Hyperfocus, which is geared towards gen-rushing in a way to counter gen-slowdown.
If you don't like getting camped and people tell you to use Reassurance what are you expected to do? The only slightly similar to it is Kinship maybe. Camping at 5 gens is still a problem, but tunneling off the hook has been somewhat addressed with the basekit BT changes.
-
@ReverseVelocity said:
Why is she mad about a Dead Dawg offering? That map is good for killer.
That's the exact thing I thought, it wasn't even Yui who brought that offering and probably camping and tunneling her cost her a 3 man escape.

As far as my DBD journey is concerned, GF is a noob stomper. I remember many times when I started playing just everyone dying and not being able to counter his power, but the more I've been playing it seems that if you can keep him busy the rest of the team can do gens and some will probably make it out (unless he has NOED or team missplays EGC)
Wraith does seem to be the better of the two as he has an easier imo time patrolling gens and getting the first hit and he can block entrances or windows with his speed. Currently I see more Wraiths doing better than GF, but when I started out (2 months ago) GF seemed a lot stronger.

Mmm, Distortion isn't bad. Honestly, if it helps them survive that gives the Killer another target other than you. I REALLY wish that we could have a gesture to indicate we are booners so people could show me boons, or maybe not cleanse. xD
That would be nice, finding a boon can take so long for booners sometimes that it makes me a bit annoyed at them, so I'd prefer it if I could ping it to them when I found one faster than them.
I just run small game to make my life easier when I play Mikaela, have come across so many Mikaelas not doing anything the first minute cause they are searching for boons.
-
Looping is indeed the fun part of the game but of course you can't always play perfect. I've had games where I've went down in 15secs because I made a stupid decisions and other I've looped for 3 gens (cause my team was efficient and doing gens, I've also looped for a long time when team only ended up doing 1 gen for some reason). I think having a bad or more games should be expected (I don't mean not surviving, as in your own performance was bad) and that has been especially true when I've been trying to learn new mechanics on the game, like flashlight saving. It's probably more difficult than it has to be since I'm playing on a controller and I threw to many games that way, trying to learn and focusing on saving teammates that way.
Other than that, it depends on the map and the killer and when you get chased. Obviously if you get chased when all the resources are gone you'd have to have a pretty good setup and good sense to survive for two minutes. It's easier to run the killer for long at the start of the game imo. It also depends on how killers play, some killers just press W and don't mind game, so it's easier to extend chases against them if you know where they'll come from and you just move to a different tile.
Then there are killers who may have stronger mind games than you and let's not forget that there are tiles that by their own nature are 50/50 or weak and you may be more likely to go down at them.
There's a lot of nuance to looping, I personally like it and believe I can do it sufficiently for the most part. And I can run a killer for a very long time when they're not good at it. I also like running Nurses, who you probably need a different set of skills than traditional running to run. Of course if they only have aura reading it's almost impossible since you can't mind game it, but for those with no aura reading or minimal it's quite possible and fun. I kinda like that you never actually run out of resources unlike other killers.

As someone who has played with survivors who run full selfish builds, I just have to say, never judge a book by its cover. Judge a survivor by their playstyle not their perks. This is why bhvr will likely never show what perks survivors have in a solo q environment.
I agree with you. For some their perks really represent their playstyle, but not always.
I've been trying to run different perks for the survivors I play so I can differentiate them a bit and it would be boring if I played everyone the same way.
I would be for being able to see a teammates' perks not so much to bully them or dodge (although I'm sure that will also happen if it becomes available) but so we have more info about each other. Like if someone has deliverance, it's obvious the team should let them get at least a save to get value of their perk etc. So it sucks this part is lacking and we don't know how to play around our teammates.
Personally I like distortion for the info it proves, but more often than not I don't run it because I can't seem to get the value I ideally would like out of it (say communicating aura reading perks to my team) and sometimes it keeps me too safe at the wrong times, which means weaker teammates are targetted when I would prefer it if they went after me. It's an awesome perk in general, but for soloq it is indeed more self-preservation and personally I like it for its potential teamplay perk that is only possible in SWF.

Seriously. Why do I not get the potatoes I get teamed with as Killer? When I am Killer I usually get the other Survivors doing gens while I am in chase with one. In SoloQ they are mostly Safe Caring, hiding in a locker, crouching for no reason, and going down 3 seconds after the chase starts.
It do be like that. I was playing the day before and I had like 3 afk (maybe more) teammates, one for every match. Like I'd see them stand still doing nothing when I got hooked. Or they had crows on their head. Did their mouse die? I don't get this.

What exactly is your question here? Is it how you can perform this well with a lack in experience and perks? If so there are several possible answers:
As you mentioned Artist is indeed a strong a killer so you have the power to back up a lot of plays that would be risky or sometimes impossible on other killers. I'm gonna assume that since you haven't played a whole lot of killer you should also be in the middle bracket of MMR which means that the survivors you go against often don't have too much experience themselves or just aren't very good at the game. With the use of NOED you also secure kills against people that are caught off guard.
As we know very little about the games you played I can only guess that the survivors did some mistakes as well. Sometimes 1 mistake is all it takes to completely turn around a game of DBD.
Also you could have had luck on your side. Getting a good map, conveniently being at the right place at the right time, getting a lucky guess on a survivors moves. Things like these can influence the game significantly.
It could also be you're just talented as a killer or make the right decisions because you already have a lot of experience with the game as a survivor and know how survivors and other killers play.
It is however likely you will soon get better survivors and won't be performing that well anymore if you don't get better at playing killer yourself.
I did get that kind of team on my 3rd game, that's why I'm confused. It simply feels very chaotic.
-
I just started playing killer since yesterday I bought the Artist. Today was my try-out day. I've only played 4 games with her and in one game there were 2 level 10 prestiges. I only had two perk slots unlocked. I'm also Ash IV on killer and will be playing whenever there is killer incentive to learn it a bit better. I though I'd be matched against people who are closer to my skill level lol.
And I also played a lot of survivor today and the games were full of bad decisions, both from me and my teammates. And it's pretty common to get at least one newbie on my team when I'm playing solo.
I don't understand this either, there probably is no matchmaking. It's the only way this makes sense.

I'd love to add you, I play on steam, I'll add when I can, I'll message you too when I'm ready.
I'm totally up to it! Maybe @GannTM would like to join us!
I'm on Epic Games though, is that possible. I do have some people from crossplay on my friendlist though.
That sounds like an awesome idea! Sure, take your time.

I'd love Ghostface to have the ability to mark 3 lockers. After entering a locker, he could look at and teleport to a locker that he had marked. Once doing a teleport, the locker he teleported TO loses its mark, and the locker he teleported FROM gains a mark. Ends up ole Danny Johnson had an accomplice the whole time.
But lockers are Dredge's whole thing to begin with.
Maybe if he could just hide in lockers for surprises that would be more in character, but survivors in that case should be able to open lockers without entering them and if they find him in they smash the locker door on him to escape. Otherwise he lurks in a locker near a gen and can probably surprise grab or scare people.
