To be honest for me the most frustrating thing in DbD is teammates because you cannot communicate with them. Like they stand in doorways and block you (whether that's intentional or not I cannot tell).
The other frustrating thing is killers tunneling newbies and camping them, they really smell the new blood. Just now I had a game where a newbie killer tunneled the most inexperienced/newbie survivor. It's amazing how much of an instinct it really is. Somehow we saved him though and he escaped.
-
If it makes you feel any better and I got into the game vs the Artist earlier and Jill threw a pallet despite me been behind her. And then when I was about to vault it she proceeded to use Any Means Necessary and she never stopped until the pallet was in its place once again. Even the killer felt bad for me and let me wiggle off.

It's usually very high prestigate levels which tells about skill as they play a lot. But have seen some bad ones but usually above 40 prestigate survivors are good loopers and very effient on gens. Under 30 prestigate level survivors can be potatoes or good you never know.
I thought at lvl30 they would have gotten somewhat decent?I mean it's quite sometime played and I imagine they also have other survivors prestiged.

I know that waiting for a queue sucks but keep playing (even it's just a match or 2) you'll gain more knowledge then just playing Survivor
Cause once you get used to playing Killer you'll develop a playstyle (for as many Killers that you play as) then when you play Survivor you'll have an "AH-HA" moment when you see the Killer playing similar to you
It's not just the killer queue. I also have to wait in the queue to play on Geforce. I'm saving up for Artist cause she looks pretty cool and I also like the Nurse (though I hate having to look at the ground after every blink)
Yeah it can be very informartive. Sometimes when I play fighting games (it's been a long time), if someone's playing my character I see what tricks I can adopt from them.
-
@RaSavage42 said:
Then you should play Killer... just saying
If the Killer kicks a Gen then that means Call Of Brine/ Overcharge combo (maybe eruption)
And if the Killer comes back to the Gen after a Survivor touches it... that could mean Surveillance
I tried, but I didn't like the wait. And I play via Geforce so I only have an hour of session and if I want to play afterwards I have to wait at the queue like 20 mins. So I just play survivor, just saying.

Nah it was close, like
He tunnelled someone out at 3 gens, but then we got to 1 gen and he was trying to slug everyone to death but when it didn't work and the person outplayed him he DCed.
But he could've easily won, all he had to do was stop slugging and hook the people he was downing.
That also mystifies me. It's not just you, maybe he didn't want to de-pip. I dunno, sounds really fragile.
The other thing that mystifies me is people insta-DC on hearing t=Nurse or when she hooks them, even though most of the times the Nurse player is of mid skill or even a newbie. And Nurses for the most part don't even camp, so for the most part they'll get unhooked.

Had a Blight who was very clearly winning the match DC because, and I quote
"i'm sick of vsing garbage players" (He said this because he got outplayed by one of my teammates)
Then he challenged me to a 1v1 after I said he called us bad despite the fact he DCed.
I was astonished that even when some people are winning they are this entitled
I don't think they wanna play better players, otherwise he would DC. Maybe he just wants to feel like it's close. But if he keeps DCing his MMr won't get better I guess?
I had a similar game against Wesker. He tunneled out a Mikaela then was AFK in front of gate and letting us do gens. Then he had No Way Out and when we went to open the other gate he started moving. I think we all made it out (except the dead Mikaela) and he was saying how we got out only because he let us go.
-
I wonder if people think I'm cheating when I run Wiretap + Repressed Alliance on gens next to walls, it works pretty well when it does work but it's not always reliable.

Well, I'm glad you've been enjoying Solo Q.
I would like to farm some BP, unfortunately, it seems I am not allowed to do so.
Three games tonight, first was against this Wesker, next was against an Iri Box Pinhead and the last was a Nurse. Decided to call it quits and play a single Killer game where I got more BP than all of my Survivor games combined, iirc.
So sad. Not even a gen pop. Truly a sacrifice in vain and that map is small. I'm trying to figure out what Jake is trying to do. Why is he watching from up there?
-
Yeah, I had a game yesterday. We were playing vs Oni in Haddonfield and you'd think the game started normally. Oni was chasing Nea and the rest were doing gens. Then at some point I'm not seeing anything happen. I do exit gates, Nea is tea-bagging me and flashlighting me while I try to heal her. The Oni is standing outside the exit game, then he gets his power I think and sprints away.
I really don't know what happened that game. Not even sure if he was farming or gave up or something.
Only he and Nea probably know what happened.
-
I think I saw it pop up one time I escaped but I can't believe I escaped 20 times. 10 more likely. I also can't check my achievements because I play on geforce so all of that is saved in the cloud.
-
I started a little less than 2 months ago and am currently silver grade, dunno if it matters at all. But I would assume I'm not high mmr but sometimes even we know to pressure gens. Doesn't take 3 high skilled players. That's just survivor objective and killer always tunnels the baby meg who has no prestige (or dwight etc.). There are other mistakes survivors on my level make, like not recognizing certain strategies early on, or 3-genning ourselves etc. Not everyone is good at loops and some maps are more killer sided than survivor sided and sometimes by the time it's your turn to loop there are no pallets left close to you.
It's possible to play a respectable game as long as everyone is on the same page, but many times we are not and people do stupid things. I also do stupid things or get tunneled or die due to teammates mistakes and vice versa.
The game is quite easy to get snowbally for killer especially if they have gen slowdown and we don't have gen perks, not everyone is playing Hyperfocus + Stakeout + Toolbox because it is indeed behind a paywall.
Killers have an easier time at end game with Noed even if they did bad all game. Survivors have a more difficult time unless they're sharing a braincell.
You can't always be beating up newbies you know. I don't find it fun when the game matches me with a killer with 1 perk who keeps missing that attack cause he thinks it can reach me, nor do I find it entertaining if my team is tea-bagging them. Nor is it any fun when killers afk to tank their MMR so they can stomp newbies again.
The game can't be as fun as it was when you first started playing it. That's why some people play it once or twice a week. So they don't get frustrated at it, others find enjoyment and satisfaction in honing their skills.
Just like killer goes for weak link because it's the most strategic decisions, maybe they should be able to recognize when they're chasing the strongest looper and go find someone else. There's no shortage of aura reading perks.
At least you only have you to count on and don't need to telepathically communicate with others the most basic of stuff.
-
I wish I could tell when I was playing vs hackers, it's hard to tell without aura reading.
Have some relaxing vacation and maybe when you get back you'll have missed the fun aspect of it. I also get frustrated if I play too much LoL for a week. it's only natural, especially if you've been playing for a long time.

ahhh so in a team game ignore the team and just hope to get the hatch at the end, gotcha, perfectly designed game :D
To be honest if they're repairing gens and taking chase or rescuing from hook they're a team-player and that's only one perk. Now if they just hide all game, yeah they suck. Not gonna argue with that.
-
I thought tea-bagging was goading them so they chase you.
It's really silly when they do is as disrespect to newbie killers though.

It's hard to not think that you are just bad but when you see the evidence of that not being the case. Comes down to doing gens I think.
When I play SoloQ, I am the only one doing gens much of the time. The other Survivors are either self-caring, crouching around for no reason, hiding in a locker, etc.
When I play Killer, they are constantly doing gens. 1-2 will usually be done by the time you down your first Survivor.
You can see it with Prestiges in the lobby too. When I play SoloQ my teammates are 2 Prestige max, usually zero. When I play Killer (I can assure you my MMR is not high) I see 10+ Prestiges regularly.
There are games when I'm the only one doing gens but I don't think that's the majority. It's just frustrating when you get hooked and you see teammates just standing around having a chit chat at the other side of the map. But I'd like to think it's not that common and I'm probably low MMR.
It's more common for me that out of 4 of us survivors one of us is new and gets killed early or keeps messing up the skillchecks and slows down our gen progress.
@WeakestNurseMain said:
Game 1: Played as Trapper vs gen rushing bully squad with the strongest perks and decent items, I barely got 2 hooks before giving up and afking against wall.
Game 2: Playing survivor against 4 Slowdown Wesker with strongest addons tunneling at 5 gens, proceeds to bm last guy on hook after closing hatch.
I think I'm done with this game for a bit, it's gotten really bad for solos/any killer other than Blight and Nurse.
That sucks. I'm sorry you had such bad games. I personally really dislike it when they tunnel out the baby survivor. And I don't understand the killers who get so cocky at times without anyone having provoked them. I also had a game earlier where I was getting BM'd by an Onryo and I'm thinking "what did I even do to her". Only she knows why she was so salty.

@Lost_Boy said:
It's not even just survivors doing it. Seen plenty of suspect killer gameplay lately with people just knowing exactly where you're at all times when they aren't even running any tracking perks or having unnatural movement speed and ending chases very fast.
I guess because it's so common now and it's constantly being discussed on the forums and by popular streamers it's probably encouraging more players to try out these hacks, especially when people just seem to be getting away with it.
Had that with a spirit once on Haddonfield. Me and Jane were in the basement doing the gan (or whatever that part of the house is called) and Spirit was hooking a survivor and she came immediately where we were. It was so strange cause we were half a map away. And I saw her perks and she didn't have any aura perks. SO either she was super smart or got lucky or something else was going on.
I also played against a suspect Trickster. He was level 70 prestige. He just double hooked all of us and then went AFK. At the end of the game he didn't even have any perks. Either he's the best Trickster around and tanking his MMR or something fishy was going on.
I just think it's much harder to realize as a solo survivor cause you can't share experiences with the rest of the team and compare etc. So if they're subtly cheating it's harder to understand.
-
I don't like the free perks. They are way more accessible via Bloodpoints than some perks that are behind a paywall or through grinding a lot of Iri Shards.
-
Sometimes if I see one or more base characters with no prestige. It won't be fun for me. If it's one of the characters you have to pay or save up for I will take the risk. If it's just 1 un-prestiged base character I will play.
Just looking to play with and against people of around my skill level give or take.

Rotten fields, playing survivor. Started the game uninterrupted on a gen next to cow tree for 50 seconds or so. Killer comes by. I loop around the cow tree twice, drop the pallet and lithe to a jungle gym. Killer drops chase. Chase was 27 seconds without the killer landing a hit. I go back to my gen which is 60% or so. As I'm finishing my gen 3 generators go off before I finish mine. I finish my generator, 4 generators done within the span of 20 seconds. Killer goes AFK.
Gen speeds are still an issue. I also had 2 other games with very fast gens today. I'm not great at looping but the game seemed to put me with very efficient teammates today and the games are a joke, can't even pip due to how quick the games go with the killer getting 2 hooks before endgame.
That sounds like a newbie killer. That has never happened in any of my games. Usually one player is getting chased and if they're getting chased too long 2 pop up. At most three.
Unless you were running something crazy, if it took you 90 secs then that means it also took your teammates 90secs each since you all popped up at the same time. You don't make any mention of anyone else getting in chase. Did killer even kick your gen? Just correct me if I'm understanding this wrong. To me it sounds like you were all spread out doing gens solo.
I really don't understand the point you're making, am I missing something here? If killer can't find even one survivor let alone down them, how is that the fault of survivors doing gens? Would you prefer it if they hang around the killer like flies? Was the problem that you didn't pip? I played a game once where we all escaped and I somehow lost a pip cause the game was fast and did only gens probably.
-
I don't get it as often as the first week of the RE chapter.
-
There was one game where I de-pipped even if I won, which was weird cause I was participating in game, probably doing gens. I just think our team did well and we escaped fast.
-
What about those lucky successful attempts. Like if I'm hooked and there's another survivor who can't save me because they are getting chased by killer?
Yesterday I managed to escape for that reason in end-game. I got lucky and he had hooked me next to the gate I'd opened and the other people had left and only Kate and me where left in game.
-
I want to apologize for the Ash I left to die cause NOED activated and I was on death hook if I was caught. But he saved me both times I believe.
For Ash I will become a better survivor and remove every totem I see.

What kind of skin would you like her to get?
-
The same thing happens if you do most of the gens.
There have been games where other people are getting chased and I'm doing most of the gens on my own and I get the lowest amount, although I basically advanced the objective of the game. Doing gens by yourself should award more Bloodpoints.

Definitely wasn't me, I was on a farm map, I had double stalk addons(The one that increased obsession stalk rate by 40%, and J Myers Memorial) with 3 slowdowns and 1 info perk.
I also played a Myers on farm map, but I died (I was Cheryl) and our Kate was afk so she also died. So probably not you, but I did give the Myers a hard time with Wiretap.
-
Doesn't this already happen with gen regression perks?
-
To be honest I think that happens with any game you play a lot, especially if it has a PvP aspect. Happens to me on LoL, doesn't help that matches take twice or thrice as much as a DBD match.
-
@WeakestNurseMain said:
That's the best way I'd put it, this game doesn't make me angry, just lowers my mood at times, it's really demoralizing to lose, like a match I just played as Myers with stalking addons vs a team with 3 really strong medkits and COH, also I'm 99% sure they were cheating but reporting takes so long that I just don't do it.
I hope you weren't playing against me earlier. I played vs Myers on Grave of Genvale (don't remember if this was the game we had CoH and what the rest brought), but I had a med-kit (yellow) and I was playing wiretap on main building and wasted a lot of time on Myers.

Good luck and have a fast recovery. I hope when you get back here BHVR decides to release a new Spirit skin (that's affordable).

Then you'll get accustemed to Bot movement not non-potatoto humans. IF you want to mechanically learn a killer that's fine but don't expect to learn how to really loop against bots.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3204966#Comment_3204966
Going after someone you've already hooked be they fully healthy again or not is valid but that can't be justification to just do it all the time.
Just now i faced a Turkey Demon Monster Thingy who 3 hooked me before having anyone else hooked... How the hell am i supposed to play? The guy literally rather have chases last longer by making me use DH than chase anyone else. And i've had a Pyramid Head call me a hacker cause i DH'ed a Punishment of the Damned Special Attack. Granted i did it behind a wall too which obviously made the guy suspicious but i saw the red flash i hit DH, i thought i was dead but i wasn't and i panicked and immediatly dropped a pallet when it wasn't necessary.
I'm not a streamer, not a Youtuber and i've already been called hacker cause i have a pretty decent grasp of how to use Dead Hard.
Killers are goddamn paranoid. I'll try use Balanced Landing even though most maps don't offer much use for it. It's either that or Smash hit though smash hit is a 50/50 that feels like a 100/100 lose cause i don't know how to pallet vaccum.
I'm not saying it's fun to be 3 hooked at start of the game, but the game design right now allows it. The only way to stop it, would be if BHVR themselves decided to do something about besides the basekit BT. Killers will never agree to it, for obvious reasons and to be honest it doesn't make sense for me either if someone is trying to win to just not go after the guy who is dead on hook.
It's a problem that everyone plays together, casuals and sweats. Obviously if someone wants to play a bit more casually they will be frustrated with this playstyle and they can be right. It's just, that it's not obvious how the game should be played cause BHVR can't seem to be deciding themselves atm. Maybe in the future they'll offer a non-ranked mode, which is more casual and people can relax there.

Only way to fix that would be not having any corners...that would lead to very bad tiles to chase around....
There are some rooms that are dead ends and there's only one doorway to get out. Killers can also bodyblock those. Can't those get more easily fixed?
-
@lemonsway said:
WHEN!? Start teaching these potatoes how to play please!
Mostly Survivor BUT Killers included.
Killers have the audacity to rush to back to hooks, ignore me when i rescue and just straight up tunnel at 5 gens, i have to force bodyblocks and even then they still leave me to go back and tunnel the poor guy. And then in end game chat they just say : oh you didnt went away from hook... LIKE WHAT!?
MAKE MMMR MATTER! CREATE ANOTHER CAP FOR NEWCOMERS!
ADD THE BOTS FOR TRAINING!
MAKE SEPERATE PLAYLISTS!
Just do something for the love of GODzilla!
I thought tunneling was a valid strategy as distasteful as it is. I'm not sure that's gonna change with BOTS. Survivors ya, might be able to get a bit better at some mechanical stuff (like hitting skillchecks, flashlight etc.) And will get familiar with the map etc.
-
I'm just here to read the advice so I know how to counter it.
-
Can we fix the map design that allow these things to happen?
-
I feel bad for wasting 2k Iri shards on Boon: Exponential. If only I could have waited a bit more for basekit Unbreakable.
-
I agree. When I started playing I thought this was the case actually.
-
Happened to me yesterday. Someone brought a game offering and I saw the killer first and run them for about a minute I think but only 1 gen popped (I think teammates had no idea how to navigate the map). Then I saw them all downstairs while on the hook and someone going in and out of lockers and generally all hanging out together. Finally Bill came and got me but I hit second stage. I hear Legion theme and start running and I went to lower level and what do you know, legion is there and I died cause there were no pallets left. Such an exciting game.
We actually could have gotten like 3 gens while I was getting chased.

Thank you all for your answers
@Brokenbones said:
Also if you want a bit more advice, here is a list of maps that are easily 3 genned on and how to break them
Haddonfield - do literally any of the gens that spawn near or in main building. Haddonfield typically can only have one 3 gen set up but it's one of the most broken ones in the whole game
Family residence - do at least 1 gen near main building and 1 gen on the killer shack side. Sometimes RNG can spawn 3 gens in a line on main building side
Sanctum of Wraith - Same as above except get rid of middle gen asap then do one on each side.
Resting Place and Suffo pit - These 2 are the most notorious 3 gen maps. You need to figure out which side has the most gens, knock out a few and then see if there's a middle gen and focus on that.
Dead Dawg Saloon - Do the hangman gen and any gen that is located on the road/essentially in the open infront of the saloon itself. Once these gens are gone, you should be okay. Main building gen can be saved until last because Killers hate chasing there
Midwich & Game - Just don't let all the gens be on one level. Do gens upstairs and downstairs evenly
When I made this post I actually had Resting Place in mind, I lost a game because of gens against a Billy in that way and he wasn't even good, but it was really difficult to get them done. Didn't help that they were in relatively open areas.
@HectorBrando said:
Dependant on the map, as a rule of thumb central gens and the ones you know they are essential to a 3gen like the one in the main building in Family Residence.
Other less obvious gens to take care early on are gens close to the basement, especially if its gen+basement+shack and gens on deadzones like the gens that spawn at the end of the street on Haddonfield near the trafic cones (no pallets or windows close).
I feel so vulnerable doing Haddonfield gens in the open, I try to do the one that appears on the end of the street or the other on the side of the street, especially if someone's getting chased. They are so hard to do later on.
Thank you for the answers everyone, they were really helpful.
@TheSubstitute said:
I almost never do the first gen I spawn by. Fortunately, I have enough map knowledge by now to know where the most likely 3 gen is and I go to break that first.
When a new map gets released I run Deja Vu a lot to immediately identify the 3 gen and go to break it. As well, I get a feel for the gen spawns as well.
As well, the other mistake that is commonly made is grouping up on gens. Grouping up is for breaking 3 gens, hitting an essential gen location quickly and Prove Thyself (although a decent toolbox gives better results than Prove Thyself).
Until you're down to 1 gen or have to break a 3 gen separating on gens is almost always the better move.
When I started playing and couldn't figure out where gens were and ran this perk I'd use it to do all the gens near each other, not break a 3-gen.😂 The more you know.

My idea was to make Victor be able to interact with downed survivor to teleport Charlotte and instantly pick the body.
Second Idea is to remove their long separation tactics and turn them into Tag Team killer that rely on antilooping.
Third idea is to make them into a COOP killer. Twins must be completely reworked for it to work
Co-op killer would be a fun idea actually. I personally really like the design of the Twins, but whenever I see gameplay of them it does not impress me at all, it really does seem kind of boring. Would be interesting if they were made to be more fun and maybe boost up their popularity, I'd definitely try them out and probably buy them (I'm still new and have mostly invested in survivors so far, but I wanna spend my next 9k Iri on a killer or two)
-
What about a gen in an open and central area? Isn't it good if they are done fast and early so as to not have a more difficult time completing gens later on? Since those seem the hardest to do as the killer has easier access to them.
-
I rarely find hatch, but I'm also bad at knowing where it spawns.
-
I think that's just pretty common in old-school forums. I haven't participated in this kind of a forum in a long time as most fandoms have moved to social media or reddit. People have always been like this online I feel, it's not just the game necessarily but it probably doesn't help that it pits killers vs survivors against each other.
-
First of all, this might not end up as it is when it goes live, or it might be nerfed/buffed accordingly. We'll have to wait and see.
Secondly, just a while ago I was wondering why 2 survivors are such a losing certainty, with basically no comeback potential (unless the killer is very bad and the survivors too good). So For me this is a sort of come back mechanic and killers do have those in a way by equipping end game perks. (like if you manage to get no kills until gens are finished you can still achieve stuff with NOED or Blood Warden and most survivor resources I assume by that time have been used up). Except maybe Adrenaline, but the requires you survive until all gens are done.
I think it would be a more appropriate buff imo if it activated when there are two survivors left, which is more common for the slugging to occur, although I dunno if it would be more difficult to work with the upcoming Mori rework).
Maybe it's too strong if it works like this throughout the whole game.
-
I haven't seen much Blight, but I've seen way more Nurse and I kinda agree. At my level I don't see the infamous sweaty build and I guess that's the problem which enables that scary Nurse gameplay.
While I lose games against Nurse I don't personally feel like she's much better than me, I feel I can outplay her for some time and you are never really out of resources. Some people are just too scared of her. I've even won personally against Nurse in Midwich, she wasn't that scary cause she wasn't that good, but the team couldn't handle her and in endgame she had NOED which was a problem.
-
I agree with you mostly. I don't think a killer camping or tunneling is toxic, it's unfun, but is a legitimate way to win the game. Hitting on hook and shaking head is just BM.
BM is more objective I feel but I think it can have some place in a game and now it is not punished currently. It's psychological warfare.
Same with survivors tbagging and flashclicks. It's meant to annoy you, it's meant to test your mental fortitude, it's a mind game. And I think if it keeps a killer occupied and making bad decisions cause they are tilted it is also a legitimate strategy. They simply lost the mental game. You just need to be good at the technical stuff to excuse goading imo.
I think it's BM when the levels are imbalanced though. Like say. If it's a SFW vs an inexperienced killer it's pretty pathetic and the other way around.
I think DC and suicides are hard to categorize, they are indirectly helping the killer, which according to you is a toxic behavior so they are by association I guess?
I think it's alright to get frustrated as long as after 5 mins you're over it, those behaviors are meant to bother you while gaming and make you lose your patience. Imagine how weird it was to find out killers consider bodyblocking a hit for your teammate toxic when it's simply a strategic choice like camping or tunneling.
