  • Having a single thread per individual bug would be a cool idea. I'd love to hang out in 3000+ pages "Iron Will on the ground bug" megathread.

cheating? no not it the most litteral sense. however it is an exploit, and i believe it is bannable.

Unfortunately, a mod indeed said "it's not cheating" and therefore not bannable. So you'd better learn all the exploits of DbD, since "if it's not patched - it's not bannable", that's how it seems to work, and if you don't learn to use them - your opponent who knows will have an advantage over you.

  • Now that you mentioned this, I can remember quite a few occurrences when the killer gave hatch to the last survivor (and did it myself), but I can't remember even a singe time when a survivor gave a free sacrifice to the killer instead of teabaggin at the gates with his teammates. Really makes you think, huh?

  • @AnnaEliza365 said:

It's not cheating. Even a mod commented on another post like this that said it's not cheating as both killer and survivors can get up there.

I love this logic. So using cheating software is not cheating too because both survivors and killers can install it?

  • @Bjario said:

Or they could just buff the unused perks instead to shift the meta.

Survivors use meta not because everything else is weak, it's because the meta is full of second chance perks that are broken, unfair and give extra lives. No other perk in the game says "you get 1/several extra lives per trial", only meta ones do.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

So, let me get this straight:

tunneling, camping and slugging are perfectly legit and fair tactics, but saboing the hook, body blocking, flashlight and pallet saves, ds, power struggle, flip flop etc are not?

Nope. Tunneling, camping and slugging can be considered toxic, although in some situations they are useful. Doesn't change the fact it's toxic.

As well as saboing, flashlights, medkits, toolboxes, pallet stans. locker stans, second chance perks and keys are toxic, although they too can be useful.

Something being toxic doesn't contradict with something being useful. Second chance perks are toxic just because they are unfair.

  • @FancyMrB said:

    1. Survivors could have Unbreakable or Soul Guard to pop back up. Killing them just because they are down and egc has started would be bad if they didn't get to use perks meant exactly for that situation.

    2. If someone went out by key leaving 2 with a closed hatched that would be pretty unfair for them to have to keep doing gens. Their 1 teammate just messed them over.

Well, if you are the last survivor, you will still be killed by the hook instantly even though you still have 3 attempts to unhook yourself. So this logic doesn't work.

It's impossible to get a safe unhook against a facecamping bubba. If you think its so easy send a clip of you and your SWF doing so.

I can clip how SWFs are doing it against me. It's possible and easy, just use BT, lol. The unhooking animation is shorter than chainsaw rev time, so by the time Bubba is able to down the unhooker the unhook animation will be completed and BT tanks the chainsaw.

  • Good luck finding all 5 totems on Midwich without totem-hunting perks and SWF.

    Chat filter, hello???

Sorry, too busy censoring words "you", "tea", "facecamp" and "Deutsch".

  • Even if the thread is a joke I think I should say it: it's ridiculously easy to save someone who is being facecamped, even if it's Leatherface. You just need 2 people and a bit of coordination, which you 100% have since you play in SWF.

  • So you play in SWF and still are surprised why you get hated and facecamped? If it's a post-ironic joke, it's a brilliant one.

  • @TacitusKilgore said:

We wouldn't have a chat filter if we had a decent community, but BHVR recognized how ass its playerbase is and moved to attempt to fix the issue. But BHVR being BHVR the chat filter is a complete mess and fails to pacify the endgame chat in any capacity.

They could've at least made it optional, like in other games. They also could've made it functional, but it's BHVR. At least adding an option to turn off the filter wouldn't be rocket science for them, or so I hope.

  • According to Scott Jund, the devs said they will not communicate with players anymore because they are tired of having their every broken promise backfire. I guess this is one of those promises that the decided to forget because new cosmetics turned out to be a more worthy investment.

  • The chat filter itself is a joke. I've never seen a chat filter filtering the word "you" in my life. Well, before DbD, that is.

Oh dear, i know what you're going through.

I know 3 games that are not in good condition at the moment, maybe just one of them but i doubt it.

Identity V is a mobile game and can be played on PC. every survivor has a role and some killers are hard to play as, you need to practice a lot. camping is an issue in every match.

    Home Sweet Home: Survive.

As a survivor you can hit the killer and kill them at the end of the game. since its release, the game has been unbalanced.

Soul Dossier. Chinese version of DBD.

I played it for a while but they only have a China sever. unstable connection and unbalanced killers. you can give it a chance.

DBD is the best right now..

I've tried Identity. Saying camping is an issue there would be underestimating. Literally every single killer there camps due to how the game is balanced. The game itself is a clone of DbD of ~2017, they copied everything, but while DbD evolved since then, Identity remained the same. So they still have 60 second timer for both hook states combined (dbd has 120 seconds), while the maps are huge, and the gens take the same 80 seconds. With camping it's so easy to win there so that there is no point in not camping. What is more funny, is that everyone keeps complaining about camping in DbD, even though it can be encountered only in low ranks and even then it happens maybe every third game at most, but in Identity every killer camps without exceptions in every rank, and the game's community seems to be 100% tolerant to it.

Let me tell you something that will help you with DBD.

This forum is very killer biased, they hate swfs because they can't beat them easily.

Play with friends and try to improve your skills, solo queue is so inferior and that's why killers are afraid of MMRS.

About the matchmaking, nothing you can do that's why this game is weird, just find a group and improve your looping/decision making skills to not be a full easy stomp fest for killers.

So you are saying people hate SWF "because they can't meat them easily", but in the same exact post you explain the actual reason why everyone hates SWF, that being SWF breaking the balance and being overpowered compared to soloQ survivors. Interesting.

  • Hit validation tech is the new meta, and currently there is no counter to that, other than quitting playing killer.

Good is ending a chase fast when the survivor has ways to defend himself, you overcome that. that's why you have *ta da* killer tutorials on youtube, to teach you how to play GOOD with the killer.

tunneling off hook can be done by my lil brother because pressing m1 to strike him down from 2 meters isn't really hard even for a child.

these are differences and this is why people are ashamed at tunneling and don't do that on 5 gens, even tho they know it's the most efficient strat.

One does not exclude the other. You can be a good chaser or a bad chaser, and in both cases tunneling will increase your chances of winning dramatically. Nobody is ashamed of tunneling, it just makes no sense. It's like saying "you use your rooks in chess because you are bad and can't win with bishops! You should be ashamed, good chess players win without even touching their rooks!".

  • @Wedeguy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2460243#Comment_2460243

No it's just that killers want to play super efficient but also be considered as killers who play well.

so let me tell you, you can't do both. you can mix between the two but if you just tunnel and expect to be rewarded with a 4k, no, 4k should be earned by killers who learnd how to end chases and outsmart survivors quick and actually make them scared, I want the survivor to say "damn he plays well with his x Killer, be careful guys".

They're ashamed cause if the survivor would say "just another tunneler bro, gen rush and leave i'll die" they know they're not skillfull in this game.

So decide, wanna be good or efficent?

    What is "good"?

  • @Wedeguy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2460202#Comment_2460202

Or maybe you can take an anti loop killer instead of your legions/pigs and learn how to end chases quicker, trying to give a real threat to the team what about that? LOL what a funny comment. I didn't tell him not to tunnel but he shouldn't get a 4k for that, it's dumb cause it shows no killer skills.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2460199#Comment_2460199

Then tunnel do as you please but why are you shocked that you get 2k at best? you don't deserve more than that.

Then tunnel do as you please but why are you shocked that you get 2k at best? you don't deserve more than that.

Have you even read what I said? You can't be more efficient than with tunneling. If you struggle with tunneling, you will be demolished without it. If I play "nice", do I deserve 4k then? I doubt it, because to my experience and to basic common sense playing inefficiently reduces the odds of victory. So who decides if I "deserve" 4k or not?

  • @Wedeguy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2460193#Comment_2460193

Duh tbh. you shouldn't be rewarded with a 4k for going to the unhooked injured person all over again.

Unfortunately, it's the most efficient tactic in the game. Eliminating one survivor from the game before the 4th gen is done is a guaranteed win for the killer. If tunneling only brings you 1/2k, it means without tunneling you would've got classic 4 escapes with 8 hooks.

  • @Wedeguy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2460178#Comment_2460178

Well, your other option is to always find the weak link.

We played as a swf today and one of my friends is a rank 11 meh survivor, if you can find that meh survivor(most teams have him, if not so yeah it's gonna be pretty.. hard to win unless they fk up for fun) then try to focus your game on him, not saying to tunnel but to go for him if you feel the game goes south.

When I play against SWF, I always try to tunnel one person. I even eat DS and wait out BT for it. With this approach I get one kill where otherwise I would've got none. In that game where I got 2k with NOED I also tunneled one person, but was only able to finish him in the endgame with the help of NOED. The second person tried to save him, and then was one-hooked. Even with the most optimal tactic and NOED 2k is the ceiling against most SWFs.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

IMO this does not have anything to do with SWF or Solos.

This is just the nature of DBD, DBD is a game of Snowballing. From my experience, most games are either 4Ks or 4 Escapes (or 3Ks with Hatch Escape). Because either the Killer is snowballing fast enough so that the Survivors are not able to do Gens or the Killer cannot apply enough pressure, which results in all Gens being done before the Killer can get into their snowballing.

Coincidentally, I almost always get that snowball moment when I play against solos and those 4 escapes (or 3 escapes with one camped/NOEDed kill) when I play against SWF.

  • @Wedeguy said:

I'd bring a pretty punishing build. Devour hope in it with undying. Devour hope can win you games against swfs if you play your cards right.

I don't believe in hex perks anymore. Devour will stand about 30 seconds against SWF, with undying it will survive for 60 seconds. Not much value. Comms and coordination help in finding totems across the map in the matter of seconds. The only hex I trust in NOED, this one is my last resort and will be my favorite in games against SWF, because those 30 seconds it will stand for it will actually bring some value.

  • @Junylar said:

And just after that ez 4k with 1 gen done I got a SWF once again, and only was able to get miserable 2k with NOED. I'm starting to think there is some kind of algorithm to it.

Try hooking 2 guys when you can't even catch one, because they are able to loop for 30 pallets straight, hitting with every stun and without making a single mistake.

And after this tough game I met 4 solos again and got my 4k. Pretty stable for a coincidence.

  • And just after that ez 4k with 1 gen done I got a SWF once again, and only was able to get miserable 2k with NOED. I'm starting to think there is some kind of algorithm to it.

It's not that difficult to win vs most SWF, you don't need to hard tunnel the first down. The really good teams where you have to do so to match them are jokingly referred to as the 0.1% for a reason. They are nowhere near common, and are in fact incredibly rare.

Stop acting like friends talking to each other suddenly makes them the next Oracle.

Is that why I get matched with those 0.1% every other game in purple ranks? Or are you trying to deny the fact that comms and coordination gives a huge unintended advantage?

    @H1GHLVND3R said:

Well, about adding voice, yea i guess that wrong idea :D Seems the only option is just to leave the lobby when u see the premade

Just get to purple ranks and you will never see a lobby of 4 solo survivors anymore. SoloQ survivors are a rare breed now considering how horrible the soloQ experience is.

  • @H1GHLVND3R said:

Why not make killers harder vs premades then? idk. Its complete unbalance

Because it would require separating soloQ from SWF queue, and, as I said before, the devs will never do this. Yes, it's completely unbalanced and the difference between solo survivors and SWF makes it logically impossible to balance survivor and killer roles in general. There is nothing you can do. The most you can do is to never play nice against SWF and always hard tunnel the first down, so that you can have the slightest chance to win or draw.

  • SWFs are the main source of profit to BHVR, so they told long time ago they will not do anything like this. "The killer's role is to suffer and fear, so there is nothing wrong with it".

  • Have you tried lowering your graphics settings?

  • When you play against SWF, only NOED can give you hope to get at least one kill.

  • Because it's a broken perk that grants several extra lives per trial for free.

  • Thankfully, yes.

Well if it's been done before and worked why is it no longer a thing? Like why would they take that away? It raises some questions about that.

MLGA was a fan made software, it could detect killer's IP for identification and had its own blacklist of players. Whenever you joined a lobby with someone you blocked with it, you would know it and could dodge the lobby. It worked back then when the killer was the host. Now that they have dedicated servers it's no longer the case and such software can't work anymore, since everyone connects to the severs and so the players can't be identified by IP.

  • You wanted to play distressing doctor on the game? Good thing it's disabled then. Map offerings should be gone altogether, they make the game much worse that it is and bring too much toxicity.

  • @Orion said:

No. Apart from @C3Tooth perfect demonstration as to why, this has been tried in other games and had to be removed.

Back in the day DbD had a thing called "MLGA" or something, which allowed you to do exactly that. And the game was fine and well, nobody was blocking everyone, matchmaking worked as expected, etc. So not only it has been tried before, it has been tried before in DbD itself and it went perfectly well: the game didn't even slightly go to dying. I think the real answer to the question is that toxicity is part of the game and every player must be forced to be matched against pricks because it's part of DbD itself. DbD is not DbD without endless toxic streams of bile from both sides, so for this sole reason the blocklist functionality will not be implemented officially. Those toxic SWF sweat squads spent their money on bright colorful skins for a reason, now you are there to make their spent money worth it! Don't even dare avoiding the humiliation.

Try playing Nurse in RPD against "immersive" survivors and come back and tell me what you think.

RPD is a trash map, that's what I think. It's mostly the map's fault. Try hiding on shelter woods from the killer for long and tell me what you think.

  • I play however I want, not breaking any rules. If they bring broken and toxic perks, knowing very well they are broken, just to ruin my game, I will try and ruin theirs.

    nope, why?

  • If I see one dead hard in the game, I begin tunneling hard and sometimes camping&slugging (if I can afford it), just to spite them. Dead hard is one of the most toxic and unfair perks which grants survivors several extra lives per trial for free. To me every dead hard is a spit in the killer's face, and every survivor picking it is doing so to bully the killer. Nothing more satisfying than seeing all those cocky dead hard users getting 4k'd and then wondering "why did you do it?????" in the end-game chat.

  • Wow, a whole quarter of a gen maximum bonus to gens for the whole trial, where you have to make extra effort and lose your team to get all 27%! What a great perk. I wonder why it hasn't become meta yet.

"And the main objective of survivors is, believe it or not, to survive."

According to the actual website, the main objective is to escape the map by finishing five generators.

Why are they called survivors then, and not "escapists" or "generator maintenance personnel"?

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2455240#Comment_2455240

Survivors refusing to do their objective and purposely making it impossible for the killer to finish their objective don't try to survive, they hold the game hostage. If you touch the gens, then no, you aren't going to be banned. But when you don't touch gens AND you make it impossible for the killer to find you, you hold the game hostage. The killer can get out of the game only if they find you, and if you make it impossible for them to do so, then they are literallyally stuck in a game that neither them or you will finish.

It is not impossible to kill them: the killer can still find them. It's just some killers don't want to put effort in it, they want survivors to be suicidal and run straight into them. Playing immersive and using stealth is part of the game, that's why we have so many stealth perks. And the main objective of survivors is, believe it or not, to survive. If I run into a killer who refuses to leave the gens by an inch - I will die. If I don't run to him - I will probably survive longer. Yes, the killer has to go and look for suvivors, if he refuses to do so - it is him who is refusing to do his objective to kill, not the survivors.

If it isn’t taking the game hostage, then it has to fall under Griefing and/or Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Refusing to participate in gameplay.

    That’s just my guess.

On the other hand, they could just be bad at the game, like Rank 20 or something.

So survivors trying to survive is "refusing to participate in gameplay"? Interesting. I guess killers have to be punished for killing as well then.

  • @calem said:

I feel like you're blaming the design of Hawkin's when the actuality of this match was that the survivors 3-genned themselves. Not the maps fault, sounds like it was completely yours.

I know a lot of people don't like Hawkin's, but I really love it. It has unique loops and the aesthetic is nice. Too many people hate on it because "indoor" or "garbage pallets" (you can actually just insta-drop the bad pallets in the corridors and make near infinites and force the killer to break them which is cool).

But to me this post just sounds you are taking your anger out on the map when this could literally happen on any map. You 3-genned yourselves. It's not a Hawkin's exclusive thing, so there's no point saying it's "bad map design".

I guess you missed the point completely. I can repeat it for you though:

How do you counter a 3 gen if it takes forever to find any gen at all?

1 … 29 30 31 32 33 … 42
