  • Excuse me whomst’d’ve necro’d this October 2018 thread?

  • image.png

Can we get someone to scour the entirety of the forums to see how many times this image has been used?

Because here it is, used again.

  • Not as much as I used to.

  • The devs put in a countermeasure to prevent the Killer from bodyblocking Survivors in the basement. Specifically in the basement, when Killers and Survivors collide, the hitboxes shrink to allow either to pass by each other so the Killer can't stand in the middle and trap them until time runs out.

Theoretically it is still possible to bodyblock a little bit if the Killer moves right and left and stays in the Survivors' way the entire time, but it's not optimal. It's better to just smack them, get the points, and take the loss because they're gonna get out either way.

  • Is it possible that Survivors are using Poised, the perk from Jane Romero that procs and hides scratch marks after any generator is completed?

Or is it just totally random, no gen popping, and shorter than 12 seconds?

Blah blah blah git gud and learn to map control better.

    @T0xicTyler

So you ask a question and ignore the answer, and comment instantly after said person who answers you makes their post? What took me five minutes to check the Hag's release date and the game's release date then type out that comment, you took five seconds to completely skip it and mock me for no reason.

Okay. Guess the 'Toxic' in your name speaks for itself.

    How is Ruin becoming obsolete?

@T0xicTyler Hex: Ruin has been in the game for two and a half years, and the game has been out for three. That is two and a half years of Survivors learning to hit Great Skill Checks or hit the totem, and as a result, games that don't have Ruin end way faster because of how skilled Survivors are at hitting Greats. Two and a half years of Survivors learning every totem spawn and checking them out to find Hex: Ruin to knock it out ASAP. Two and a half years of games where at least one perk is almost always Hex: Ruin because it's the most reliable game-slowing perk, and is even still hardly reliable as it can be destroyed extremely shortly after the game starts.

To have to run a specific perk, ability, or whatever to make games last long enough for a player to have the slightest chance of possible victory, is bad game design. We either need generators to be revisited, or more game-slowing perks.

  • @Peanits Necro’d thread. Can you please lock it?

  • @BeanieBoyBob said:

Thanatophobia is a perk that doesn't rely on Hex Totems, and is also an alternative to Ruin.

Thanatophobia used to be fine. It needed a buff.

And then they nerfed it so now it’s not so fine on any killer besides Legion.

  • @Peanits Can you please lock or archive this old thread?

  • Tantrum only if he hits no survivors or pallets for the entire chainsaw run. Remove tantrum on wall collision.

  • Huntress? She seems like she’d have some form of mental disorder judging by her backstory.

The Clown was a definite psychopath as he tortured animals, and eventually people, and took feet, claws, or fingers from each.

Hillbilly is hideously deformed, though I’m pretty sure he only killed out of vengeance rather than a mental thing.

Nearly every Killer to be honest has had a mental disorder thing, bar the Legion who were ‘in this together’, Plague who died to a disease, and Spirit who is animated by her lust for vengeance.

  • @DoubleTap Forgot to tag you, sorry.

    Explanation in above message.

  • @DoubleTap said:

I don't get the whole Dweight - Locker thing, can somebody explain it to me?

It’s somewhat of a meme based on the behaviour of new Survivor players; pick Dwight, dive in a locker when the Killer’s around.

you currently cannot buy Shards nor Bloodpoints.. So no profit is being made either way..?

I think he means that being able to turn BP into Shards will allow people to buy Killers and Survivors, which may cut into Auric Cell profits.

  • You did say you own every character, yes, but have you gotten said characters to level 40 to unlock their teachable yet?

  • 'Survivors receive Survival BP for feeding the entity'

YES. We need many more score events for Survival, it's one of the most critical things that makes Survivor BP gains so much lower than Killer BP gains.

  • Currently I only play this game because of dailies, very rarely do I play for any other reason. What time I could spend playing DBD is instead spent on For Honor or other games.

If disconnecting hadn’t become such a cancer on the game, I would definitely be playing it more. I don’t know whether it’s good or bad that a game by Ubisoft is more stable with less entitled players than this one.

  • @LordziPL said:

It's possible. I waited 30 minutes to create Lobby in PTB.

@LordziPL Oh I forgot to clarify; this is in the live build. I haven't played the PTB, but the game seems to be using that other matchmaking that was tested a while ago, again now.

  • Lightweight; Spreads out scratch marks as an additional effect to the -3 seconds duration.

  • If BHVR are going to combine WMI with WGLF, they'll need to nerf WMI's healing speed bonus. Either make it +50% with the current time, or the current +100% for only the Survivor that gets unhooked.

  • @LapisInfernalis said:

I always thought of it as the mirror perk of Iron Grasp. So I added the faster wiggle out. You are right that this could cause more basement camping, but at least you would have a chance against it. Especially if it's Iron Grasp + Agitation.

Now once you are in the basement, you die in the basement 90% of cases against a basement build/insidious Bubba.

And are then Agitation & Iron Grasp 2nd Chance too? No.

No, Agitation and Iron Grasp are not ‘second chance’ perks. They are perks that help to ensure, but don’t necessarily guarantee, a hook. The only real ‘second chance’ perk currently on the Killer’s side is No One Escapes Death because it, somewhat, rewards failure.

And currently, Survivors have FIVE second chance perks, if not more. We don’t need additional perks to make it into the meta for Survivors. We don’t need this game to keep rewarding failure.

  • Agreed. They should also revert the hidden ping indicator change that they made.

  • Do you want to see more Bubba’s Basement with Insidious camping?

Because making it easier to wiggle out of the Killer’s grip is exactly how you get more Bubba’s Basement with Insidious camping.

  • Devs already explained in a livestream that they are changing Enduring to only affect pallet stuns, and fixing it so the stun reduction is actually 75%, instead of the calculated result that is currently 43%.

So Head On doesn’t need to be changed, since Enduring already is being changed.

  • To be honest, DBD should never have released for console.

  • If the Killer pulls the plug on their connection or loses connection to the internet themselves, the game boots you off as if you lost connection to the host, and as a result you get no rewards. It’s not a bug so much as a problem with the game’s ‘quit or disconnection’ thing which can deny rewards to players.

That being said, it should be good once dedicated servers roll out.

  • Nay. Gen regression base speed needs to be increased, rather than forcing Killers to run a perk for it.

The devs need to stop putting features that help balance behind perks. Just speed up generator regression at base instead of making us have to run a perk.

  • Luck does affect skill check chances, as a matter of fact, especially on generators.

The worst is when someone plays a salty lips jar and the Killer has Ruin.

  • A few months ago there was a thread similar to this one. I’ll copy-paste my thing from there, to here, with a few edits:

Survivor; An unfeeling guardian who, his entire life, wanted to keep people safe, and died doing so.

    Perks:

Apathy: You are emotionless. Lose all aura reading, become hidden from all aura reading, and be unable to hear the Killer’s terror radius for the duration of the trial. If you die in the trial, gain 5%/10%/20% extra blood points awarded post trial per generator completed. If you successfully escape the trial, gain 0%/100%/200% extra blood points awarded post-trial, exempting the generator bonus.

“Cry all you want, you won’t change my mind.”

Hit Me: You do your best to protect others, no matter what the cost. If a Survivor is in a chase and you take a hit for them, your and the Survivor’s scratch marks will be hidden for 3/4/5 seconds and blood trails temporarily vanish. If Hit Me is triggered during the trial, gain 12.5%/25%/50% more bloodpoints in the Altruism and Boldness categories during the trial.

“You will have to contend with me first.”

Get Up!: When your friends are in peril, you do anything to keep them safe, even if it kills you. If a Survivor has been downed and you are in the injured state, you may use the ‘Get Up!’ Special action. On using Get Up!, the downed Survivor will be immediately restored to Injured state, while you fall into the Dying State in their place.

Once per trial, if you are already healthy, a Survivor rescued with Get Up! will be healed to Healthy, but you will suffer the Broken status effect for 300/240/120 seconds. Subsequent uses will heal a Survivor to Injured and apply the Doomed status effect on yourself.

“I told him to get up, I grabbed him by the shirt and threw him out of the way, and then... nothing. Suddenly I’m here with the rest of you.”

Doomed status effect: You have enraged something, and it wants you dead. While suffering from the Doomed status effect, the Killer is able to kill you by their own hand unconditionally.

Doomed is represented by a skull similar to Exposed, but split in two pieces and covered in blood. When in the dying state, your body will glow red to show the Killer that you may be Killed.

    Doomed can be applied by;

    - Get Up! (on use 2 and beyond)

    - Rancor (on the Obsession when all generators are complete)

    - Devour Hope (on five tokens)

Well why would a blind make them drop Survivors?

If I carry something heavy and then stare at the sun until it really hurts, I won't drop it.

In Killer's case, they sacrifice realism for balance.

    @Boss

Actually in terms of lore, creatures of the Fog are averse to light and are technically harmed by it. Especially considering how dark all the Entity’s realms are, even if Killers don’t actually count as ‘creatures of the Fog’, try shining a light in your eyes after being in pitch-blackness or dark environments for hours at the minimum. That would hurt and your first response would be to cover your eyes because they’ll hurt. It’s like looking at your phone at full brightness after waking up in the morning.

  • Also, performance on lower-tier PCs tanks massively when looking toward the main building from any part of the map. I think it’s the fire, or maybe it’s because there are so many things being rendered in the MB at once.

  • I had suspected this would happen, personally. Only way I think this could be fixed is that items and animations get changed so they are held in the left hand instead of the right. This would prevent Ashy Slashy from hiding keys and firecrackers, as they will be in the left hand instead. Other animations might need to be changed to accomodate this one. Otherwise the only other solution is to remove Ash’s Ashy Slashy cosmetic entirely and refund it - which means a loss of money, so that’s not gonna happen I believe.

  • Isn’t this an old copypasta or meme from Facebook or something?

Edit: Oh okay I’ve read it a bit more.

  • You can change your control scheme even on console. I personally set vaulting, pallets, and alternative actions to the Square/X button, and leave R1/RB for the typical interactions. Square/X is completely unused so you can change it to that. All you need to do after the fact is get used to the new input scheme.

  • I’d say, personally, that it should be, but only between consoles. Only Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo consoles should be able to play DBD with each other.

PC will be better off excluded from the mix, as it is the platform with the most concurrent players (if I remembers correctly) and it’s on a whole other level to what can be done on consoles. We don’t want PC Nurse gods wrecking console players.

  • Technically looping USED TO be considered an exploit, but it isn’t anymore. The devs themselves said it was when the game first released, but then later said it isn’t anymore, probably because of many other changes to the game since then.

People who say it’s an exploit are still living in 2016.

  • People would just Alt+F4 or Task Manager though.

I wonder why it hurts them so much to get Killed. Not like it kills you IRL or anything.

  • Does anybody else have ideas for additional changes to Legion with regards to the proposed ones?

you'll have to right-click on GameUserSettings (don't open it) go down to Properties and make sure both Read-Only and Hidden boxes are unchecked. Then, you'll want to click apply, close everything and launch DBD. quit the game and go back to GameUserSettings and everything should be there. Also, the value you will need to change in GameUserSettings is called FrameRateLimit=200.000000 it's close to the bottom and located above DesiredScreenWidth=1280 and turn off bUseVSync=False That might fix your problem.

@Rescultir It doesn’t seem to be working for me.

Cuz the devs are to lazy, whatever justification they want to give I personally don't buy it. Straight up laziness imo.

The risk of a ban is nearly 0%.

Everyone does it since release and noone git banned for that. Also the location of that file and the file itself is not interesting for EAC, EAC is more interested about .pak files. Also, GameUserSettings.ini is constantly getting edited when you change something in the settings ingame. So EAC would have no clue who changes that file.

So you are pretty save doing it.

@HavelmomDaS1 So how do I do it?

Just now I tried to find the file but when it comes up, whether it's in Wordpad or Notepad, it's completely blank. How do I change the settings?

  • Why do we need to manually disable VSync in the config menu?

Can we get banned by EAC for changing config settings though? I might do it for a bit more performance but not if I risk a ban.

  • Closest we have to an amusement park is that small area in the Crotus Prenn Asylum map that came out with the Clown. I’d love to see one full-blown.

Maybe even make a Ferris wheel move and able to ride on by Survivors, or roller coaster rides. Even make them methods of travelling the map. That’d be cool if the devs can manage coding it.

  • @Peanits said:

I play quite a bit of Trapper myself and I could maybe get behind that change. Three things would concern me, though:

    • It would a little predictable. Trapping pallets and windows is what everyone expects and they tend to be the least effective when playing against good players. If it's guaranteed to spawn there, everyone would be checking pallets and windows every time.
    • You can throw the pallet down on top of a trap and vault over it. It's not super common knowledge right now, but if traps started to spawn in pallets consistently, people would quickly catch on and use that to avoid them. You would then have to move them manually anyway.
    • You can also just dead hard over a trap. This would be a problem with very safe pallets (basement of Badham Preschool, for example). The survivor could dash right over it while you have to stop and pick it up. Normally this would be your fault for placing a trap there, but if it just spawned there, you get hurt because RNG said so.

With that in mind though, I do really like this idea. This would make The Trapper a lot more competitive in the early game. It would be really cool if they could spawn at random points along a loop, but I'm not sure how possible that would be.

@Peanits Regarding your point about a trap being able to be DH’d over, I personally think Trapper could also do with immunity from his traps.

“How long lore-wise has he been killing in the name of the entity”, that sort of thing, and he still steps in his own traps lmao

I think Trapper should not be able to be caught in his own traps, unless he is carrying a Survivor. That way loops won’t be automatically safe by using his power against him, but he could also end up stepping in a trap on the way to a hook and dropping his quarry.

How, like new DS, you only get hit by it if you're being a bit scummy. Play nice and you don't have to worry about it.

Earlier I ran DS. The last two generators were completed, gate was opening, and I got downed all within sixty seconds of being unhooked, and I only escaped the trial because Decisive Strike is still somewhat flawed.

I was the only Survivor the killer could find, the rest were on the other side of the map. I should have died and not gotten DS because the Killer had no other option, and they got punished because everyone else except me was actively hiding.

If DS is meant to be an anti-tunnel perk, its timer should pause when a chase starts, and end when a chase is lost and terror radius ended. Or something, I don’t know. It needs more changes.

  • The ranking system in general. Delete it, boom, and everybody gets matched with everybody else by geolocation.

All ranking system serves to do is give you longer queue times. Open the floodgates, let everyone play everyone else.

  • @Mr_Jay_Stark

I completed the rite successfully - it was not unable to be progressed.

  • Be all fun and games until she uses Monitor and Abuse.

    M&A Hags are scary, dude.

  • On the same page as Legion moonwalk and PWYF moonwalk, this could be abused to get close to a Survivor without losing the speed boost.

That being said, I think the devs need to rework chase conditions before this becomes a thing, but it’s definitely a solid idea. I fully support this as a change, but before it can become a thing, chase conditions need to be changed to prevent abuse.

  • I’d use it to blow away other Survivors into the dying state immediately lmao
