You could just.. close the chat window and leave it permanently closed.
Would save you the sanity.
It still doesn’t solve the problem of chat abuse.
‘Getting called racial slurs? Close chat. Getting told to go die or end your own life? Close chat. Getting told you’ll be reported and you’re genuinely concerned you are at risk of actually being banned even though you did nothing wrong? Close chat.’
Closing chat stops you from seeing a very prevalent problem - it does not solve the problem itself because they’re just going to go and do the same to someone else. At the same time they’ll also go after your steam account and everything just to treat you like crap because ‘how dare you be better than me’ so they further proves my point about close chat being ineffective.
We need a chat filter and auto-bans, or more serious chat moderation, to be put in place to stop this kind of thing, instead of telling everyone to tough it out.

Insta heals don’t make Survivors good either.

I should have added to the original post, but could anybody please test this and post the video here, to see whether Unrelenting and Save affect the special lunge?

Any killer with a damaging ability can do that. STBFL is only affected by basic attacks.
You lose stacks if you hit the Obsession with Legion’s Feral Frenzy - and can gain them as well by rapid-stabbing the same person multiple times. It’s extremely effective on Legion, and really the best way to use his power until his Pins apply on first hit.
I assume FF both does and doesn’t count as a basic? It used to ignore Mettle, but does still affect Save stacks.

Human:
Humanoid:
BHVR always said the latter was possible for Killers. Things don’t need to be human, so long as they have two arms, two legs, and a head on their shoulders.

I’d name ‘Exposed’ to ‘Endangered’ personally. ‘Vulnerable’ has the same issue as ‘Exposed’ in that it could literally mean anything regarding the game.
Endangered definitely means that you should GTFO, much more than Vulnerable would.
‘Exposed’ can become a status effect granted by an item or perk to alert you to the fact that your aura is being read. Maybe Distortion could have an additional effect after all tokens are gone, to state that your aura is revealed to the Killer? It should not appear on just any aura exposure though, as that can end up as a partial nerf to Scratched Mirror, other aura add-ons, and perks.
In short, ‘Endangered’ will get the point across the best way.
-
The game should have the option to select a lobby latency cap for Survivors.
Warframe, a game that for whatever reason still runs on Peer to Peer, even has this setting. You can go into options and set Matchmaking Ping Limit, so if you have matchmaking on and the game searches for a mission with other online players, it will filter out all lobbies whose ping exceed it.
This can’t be that difficult to add to Dead by Daylight. At the very least it would reduce high-ping lobby dodges and potentially keep the game’s activity static or increase it tremendously - less dodgers = more games = more players.

Question: Would it be a problem if Judith's Tombstone also let you kill a Survivor in the Dying State? I know with Tombstone Piece, there would be issues with which takes priority between, say, an Ivory Mori and Tombstone Piece (since using Ivory Mori means it won't work on anyone else but using Tombstone Piece means you are immediately booted back to Tier 2 EW), but that issue wouldn't really exist with Judith's Tombstone.
I added that in an edit; there is no reason that with the tombstone you can’t just kill a Survivor on the ground, right? Why can you specifically only kill a Survivor if they are running?

ah,master. To all whom don't know this was an old bait post that got resurrected for some reason...
Necros are getting insane recently. Someone necroposted a topic that was exactly a year old, to say ‘thanks’ because their issue today was solved in that specific thread.
I reckon the forums should auto-close any topics that have gone a month or so without any posts, assuming the forum staff can figure out how to do that. Would be much better than necroposting ancient threads.

People still talk about a 2v8?
Its possible I guess yeah, since we've seen how the game handles more than 1 killer on the screen... (It handles it surprisingly well...) but having this happen in the game itself is more-so a party mode if anything.
Nothing to really add to the actual ranking matches of DBD, just one of those off-set modes to play when you're bored of regular DBD.
I agree that 2v8 should probably be a KYF or unranked kind of thing really. It’d need tremendous rebalancing to make it fair and balanced for both sides though.
During the times of the multiple killers glitch, it’s been demonstrated that Survivors don’t become invincible after being hit because they can be instantly downed by two simultaneous hits. That should be changed, or maybe it would work best using @TrueKn1ghtmar3 ‘s idea where the characters of separated trials can interact only in specific areas. Even then, double-hit or Survivor hit reactions should be changed.
True’s Collision idea seems solid enough to actually work for a ranked mode as well. Maybe this could be a thing in future.

Self Care + Botany Knowledge is a medkit and Saboteur/Technician/Detective’s Hunch is a toolbox. Equivalent of a flashlight is a pallet, Head On, or Decisive Strike.
Those are substitutes for items if you want to avoid lobby dodge - which isn’t even much of a problem to begin with. Use the time you would take making this post, to find another lobby and keep playing.
inb4 Civ V joke
Edit; After reading your post a bit more closely, technically a medkit and a toolbox are already base kit. Same with flashlights regarding stuns, via pallets. You could consider items as powers on their own, but they should never be truly base kit.
Edit 2: Your point about dedicated servers is not valid yet because the game doesn’t put you in ‘either’ Dedicated Servers or P2P - it’s just P2P. Your point about SWF? Get good.
-
Does anybody else have any other ideas for new game modes when dedicated servers are released? I’d love to see them, and I’m sure BHVR could take ideas from them as well.
-
Technically there isn’t any reason to add ‘alternate realms/realities’. Original Freddy was somewhat of a special case, and I guess Wraith, Spirit, and Nurse also draw on a separate plane - but they don’t specifically enter said plane.
The Entity has ultimate rule over reality in its own realm. It could have even made Freddy not require his victims to be sleeping to attack them for example like he can now, so why would - do you one better; why should - Demogorgon need Upside Down?
-
If I may make a suggestion; there’s gotta be a much earlier build of the game, long before we had 12+ Killers and Survivors, and 60+ perks for each side, saved and stored somewhere, right?
Perhaps BHVR could retrieve an older build from the archives, assuming they save previous versions of the game to roll back in case something ends up critically broken, and start working from there? Fix the code from the old build, and over time start adding each chapter’s worth of content, copied then refined and then placed in, and smooth it out at the end?
This could also help make do with the ‘multiple separate builds’ issue that was talked about by Peanits when I made my post asking why they prefer to fix critical bugs in mid-chapters - he explained it’s because they would need to make a separate build that will only be out for a week before releasing the bigger build that will need to be edited again.
I understand coding and game making is much - MUCH - easier said than done, of course, but maybe this suggestion could be taken into consideration to help fix the game?

METTLE OF MAN
If you are the Obsession: After taking two hits from any source of damage, gain the Endurance status effect and keep going after suffering a hit that would put you in the Dying State. If you are grabbed while injured, immediately break out of the Killer’s grip instead. Your Obsession status is permanently locked to you for the trial, to prevent other Survivors from using this effect.
If you are not the Obsession: Perform a total of 3 Safe Hook Rescues and/or Unsafe Heals (finish a heal in the terror radius) to gain the Endurance status effect and ignore one basic attack when hit.
This rework makes it so only one Survivor could use the original MoM while every other Survivor needs to actually work for it. It lets MoM be somewhat of a counter to some of the Killer’s obsession perks as well.
Can you please at least try to explain your dislike of this idea, rather than posting a clip of an old cartoon with possibly edited audio? Do you have anything constructive whatsoever that you could share?

But all of them have actual eyes... and i suppose they have some kind of holes in their mask to see. That's where you blind them. The demogorgon... well i am pretty sure he doesn't have eyes.. i haven't completed the whole serie so i dont know for sure, but i guess that its already blind.
Well out of all the current Killers, the most ‘not blindable’ ones would be Nurse (wears a whole pillowcase and is confirmed to be actually blind, only able to see by sound), and Legion (don’t actually have any holes in any of their masks. My guess is they ‘see’ by Killer Instinct).
On the same page though, technically the Hag should be impossible to blind since she has no eyes at all; they’ve been rotted away into nothing. I assume she ‘sees’ with a form of seismic sense Toph Beifong style.
-
Really, the same could be said about the Nurse, Legion, Pig, and Ghostface. None of these Killers have exposed eyes or visible face whatsoever in any of their default cosmetics - so how do you blind them too?
I understand it’s for the sake of balancing though (saves), and logic is often abandoned for the sake of balance.
Do Demogorgons actually have eyes or a form of light sensitivity explained in Stranger Things though? Or maybe this is a different ‘breed’ of Demogorgon that does have eyes? I’ve never watched ST though so...
-
Being 9 feet tall would be guaranteed to make the Demogorgon taller than Shape and Plague - which comes with problems such as making the Killer unable to mindgame some loops with tall barriers that aren’t walls.
It’s possible that they’ll make the Demogorgon run around in a crouched position in some way, or make him crouch-run during a chase and normal run outside of a chase?
-
Early last year it was on a free weekend so I played it.
Loved it.
Bought it.

I think the key model could do with an update entirely.
Put a ‘keychain’ on the key with some brightly coloured trinkets and stuff on it. Maybe make the trinkets depend on add-ons, but still have trinkets on them when they don’t have add-ons. Probably give the key a bit of a polish so it looks silver instead of dark grey as well... and there we go, a more visible key.

Inb4 ‘free hits doing nothing’ argument.

Press these two arrows. It'll close the chat window. Never open it again.
It'll save you a SHITLOAD of sanity.
That doesn’t solve the problem of chat abuse and racial slurs being thrown just because someone played in a way someone didn’t like.
It just ignores the problem and lets it go unchecked.
‘Grow thicker skin’ isn’t an excuse when people are literally being told to off themselves in chat or being called slurs just because someone got salty.
-
My only issue with the Hillbilly is that he moves at the same speed a Survivor does when he’s charging his chainsaw, so he can just run up and point-blank everyone. If he moved at the same speed Bubba does then I’d be fine with him.
-
Depends on the situation;
To grab from window and pallet vaults, a Survivor needs to be Injured, you need to be within range, and you have to click/tap the attack button, and not lunge. Lunging just becomes a standard attack.
Healthy survivors can be grabbed directly out of lockers (from searching or from transitioning into and out of), off generators while they are working on it, from hooks while actively sabotaging, and from survivors they are rescuing from the hook. Same with window/pallet pulls, you need to tap the button within close range to perform a grab.
Be advised that there are known bugs with some grabs, likely due to latency issues. Sometimes the Killer will be in the grab start animation, but the grab won’t work and either become a lunge, or the Killer will be stuck that way.
Grabs are much easier with stealth Killers and the Spirit due to their nature of making survivors unaware and unprepared and vulnerable to an immediate grab.
-
I think they changed the constraint; now you only need to down Survivors who are suffering from Deep Wounds, or something like that.
-
@TAG said:
Didn't the devs say that they plan to have DCers leave a hookable husk behind so Killers can still activate their hook-related perks? The Entity kill animation would probably not be compatible with that.
It can’t really be that hard;
- Make a slight change to Entity kills to make them count as a hook and sacrifice, or
- Make the disconnection status count as X amount of hooks, or
- Leave the husk.
Personally I would prefer they do the first. A husk would waste your time in many ways.

Imagine someone calling pizza's sandwiches. They ask if you want a sandwich, and you're like sure. That person, then comes back with a pizza. You're like: wat .
That's the exposed status effect. Vulnerable is a much better word, which, combined with the skull, properly conveys the peril you're in if you were to be hit.
My friend just this saturday asked me if Exposed meant that we were visible to the killer. We've been playing this game together for 2 years.
Knock it off with the "but it's so easy to realize/ you can just look it up" it's an improper name for the effect of the status, plain and simple.
Technically pizzas are pies though.
-
My suggestions for a new name;
- (In/) Peril
- Endangered
- Vulnerable
- Open

Sabod traps dont respawn without an addon and you could probably sabobone or 2 then hide forcing him to grsb and place one or two new traps wasting time while the 4th survivor can do gens or rescue the hooked guy. Disarming is what trapper can easily reset
You are confusing sabotaged for disarm.
Sabotaged traps repair themselves after 3 minutes, or 2:30 with Hangman’s Trick.
Disarmed traps re-arm themselves in 30 seconds, at random.

Yes, then we would have to deal with an exposed ribcage and I think that's too much nudity for this game, I'm surprised Billy kinda has it with his Hallowed Blight skin
Wraith’s Hallowed Blight skin literally has the spine visible.
Really pushing from PG, BHVR. Not that that’s a bad thing.
-
His traps should spawn in the run path of loops and be automatically active from the beginning of the game, and he’ll require far less setup to be a decent killer.
I also think Trapper should not get caught in his own traps unless he is carrying a Survivor.
-
Thanatophobia is a great perk as it forces the game to be slowed down. It synergises better with Plague than it did with Old Legion.
Survivors are more pressed to make the decision to cleanse themselves and put them and every other player in the game at risk to speed up the game a bit more.
A must-have for Plagues of all levels.
Besides that, you can run the typical M1 loadout (Enduring + Spirit Fury), or ignore that and hope you get to use the other half of your power to let you have more choices which are all yours.
-
To get nerfed.

No. Not every killer needs to be Hillbilly tier. And these changes sound absurd. I find getting a 4K with a low tier killer satisfying and that's how I want it to be.
Not only that but killer would boring if they were strong like that.
You could just run perkless, really.
-
Yes it does.
When a user is jailed, they get the bars over their avatar. When a user is banned, ‘user banned’ shows up.
I don’t know whether user banned is an overlay atop their pic like the jail is, or whether it’s a total replacement manually done by staff.

You missed out then. Basically worked like this. Less than 2 kills, lose a pip. 2 kills or hook each survivor at least once was safety pip. 3 kills gain a pip. 4 kills gain 2 pips. It was a little more complicated than that, but that is the general gist.
So, sort of similar to Identity V?

I would bring back the killer's victory cube. It was absolutely perfect the way it was before. The new emblem system is a mess.
I wasn’t around for the original Victory Cube, but realistically, anything would be better than the current Emblems in my opinion.
Depipping for a 4K lmao
-
If it was a one-off and you had no control over it, you are not at risk of being banned.
Likely the Killer was just calling hacks because god forbid the game have random glitches.

Pig nerf and camping penalty. No point in punishing camping if people continue to camp anyway.
I never really understood why they put Emblem penalties in the game, for the most weird of reasons.
You literally lose emblems for letting Survivors heal - but you won’t get Iridescent if you don’t, especially with a oneshot Killer.
-
Though I’m not a Spirreh main I can give you a tip - fiddling with some settings in the PS4 menu, you can make it so when headphones are plugged in, all system (game, party etc) audio will go through them. Get a good set of headphones, plug em into your controller, and crank the volume, while playing Killer or Survivor. Sound is very important in this game.

Why not? It does have a great performance
DBD can’t even run properly on current-gen consoles because it’s so terribly optimised. How do you expect a Switch, a handheld console, to do the same, if not better, than a home console?

No, it has never been considered an exploit. Some people clearly have no idea what an exploit is.
Ah, I must have been misinformed. Or maybe the person I read it from used bad wording.
I believe they said ‘exploit’ when they actually meant ‘a play style that the devs have said is not allowed’. Probably misused the word ‘exploit’ to make their post faster.
Edit; ‘They’/‘That person’, being the person I read the ‘looping used to be an exploit’ thing from, not the person in this thread.

Looping is not an exploit bud. Stop spreading misinformation.
I think the user meant that at the time (ie, early days of Dead By Daylight), looping used to be called an exploit. It is not considered an exploit anymore as of today, however.

Monitor is amazing on hag because her terror radius becomes really small.
She’s even more terrifying with that and Waterlogged Shoe because it lets you move faster.
