Trying to go from psn to steam, but it seems like the only dlc that transferred is the stuff I bought with aurics. Anything bought in the psn store is still locked on steam, unsure why.

Did you start DBD on your PlayStation? Opening it up there and updating it to the latest version will help when you try to sync up things for Cross Progression.

You obviously couldn’t stop it on the phones. I think 99% of survivors would willingly stop using Discord because Proximity chat would literally be 1,000 times more fun. They could add something to the game to block discord from popping up and i don’t think it could be called malware at all since you could just use discord without the game being open.

How would you deal with the consoles? Their comms are built in, and entirely separate from what game is even being played?

Do we know whats considered "High mmr" ? I've always wondered how this bracket is described (aside from the blant numbers they mentioned somewhen). I don't know if I am in high mmr but I would say it feels like I am. However when looking at the high mmr bracket there is the almost gap I was talking about.
As mentioned earlier I don't want to stomp survivors. I don't know how to reach common ground with that many aspects and variables and maybe its simply not possible to do so.
But is it fair to just say "there is this group of squad players and we will just accept as a fact that they bully killers on purpose or win a lot more then intended by the basegame mechanics"? I don't know how big the group of "high mmr" is after all but shouldn't a game aim for equal conditions among all players?

Around the top 4% of players is loosely considered that top MMR area. Something like that. For the millions of worldwide DBD players that's a really small portion overall. If they put out a more exact number I don't recall, and it's all based an invisible number anyway.

Balancing an asymmetrical game already is tough to do. From what I can tell over the years, they tend to balance the game primarily for the middling groups of players, say the central 70% of MMR roughly. To affect the most amount of regular players.

Next they look at the new player experience, say the bottom 5% or so. Last would be that high MMR area, and I don't think they massively sift through those numbers for very long. Whether this approach is correct is another thread entirely.

I believe before it'll transfer over you have to open up DBD on the console itself, not the app.

How do you know it's a problem that you and your friends are facing. You have no way to know if you're against a team. I've had killers complain so many times about SWF nonsense in post game chat when we were all solos. It's really not that hard to coordinate with other solo players if you're paying attention.

It's also not that difficult to beat the majority of SWFs if you're a competent killer player. If you can find survivors, win chases quickly, and keep track of gen progress, SWFs can't do much and will often throw games trying to be overly altruistic.

The magic 60% your asking for is pretty much bang on already in all scenarios except the extreme cases.

The only change they need to make is to let solo players see everyone's build so we can use a wider variety of perks effectively.

I agree with showing perks before the trial begins. It would allow survs not on comms to act more intelligently, and know when things like Head On and Plot Twist and Deliverance etc. are in play.

I'm quite happy just to forego the whole lobby and just jump straight in!

Although I can see some merit for killers seeing the survivor items (which can also be countered by survivors by switching at the last minute, so it can become a double-edged sword), I just do not understand the point of Prestige being shown. It's mostly irrelevant (I've had P100s obliterated, whilst P0 really cause problems), and seems there solely for bragging rights, excuses for dodging, targeting and elitism. They being there doesn't bring anything positive to the lobby that I've noted to be even slightly positive.

I'd like to see no lobbies tested out as well, see what effect is has on matchmaking. That would neatly get rid of lobby shopping around, last second swapping nonsense, prestige hate, targeting cosmetics, sifting through profiles, all of it.

Items could be still shown before the timer ends, so Lightborn or Franklin's etc. could still be run if desired.

You could check if discord is running but I doubt they would do something this extreme. Proximity chat was never intended because they feared toxicity amongst survivors.
Well there are still tons of toxic people who then use the after game chat but behaviour pretends toxicity doesn't exist.

Checking for Discord (if that's even possible and/or legal) might work for PC players maybe, but what about the consoles? They have built in comms, entirely separate from what game is even being played at the time. How could they enforce this idea if they lost their minds and wanted to?

  • Seems legit.

If you turn your head sideways and squint, it could be there. Maybe. A lil.

  • @Atom7k said:

As the latest statistic shows, swf players do have a huge advantage over solo q players. These advantages come from matching builds and roles, voicecall, callouts and coordination.

Aside from comp players there is little that the average killer can do to stop these teams effectivly and the matches become stressfull and annoying very quick.

So when looking at the numbers the game needs a mechanic to even out the field.
The game knows when you play with others so it could apply more generator time per swf player. Another possibility would be to limit how many times certain perks can be used among the swf players (this forces the survivor to use other builds and avoids 4x adren etc).

Limiting the amount of items/add ons could also be a possibility as it really is game breaking to have multiple green toolboxes with brand new parts in a swf squad.

This would not only make the game more fair for everyone but also (and this is my favourite part about this idea) completly remove bully squads from the game.
It simply wouldn't be possible anymore to orchestrate with background player, ds, unbreakable and head on + 4 flash lights and map offering to purposly be toxic towards killers.

One last approach could be to simply tell the killers if he goes up against swf so he can mentally switch into comp mode or just dodge the lobby.

My final thoughts are that it shouldn't be possible to bring map offerings if you play with more then 1 friend. Reducing toxicity and making the game fair again is what it needs in my opinion as it feels quite inbalanced lately.

Around half of all survs are in at least a two-man, by far the most common SWF, with trios much more rare and quads even more so.

The escape rates globally are less than half the time, with high MMR something like 4-5% better chances. That's it. And those in high MMR make up a small portion of the overall playerbase too.

So unless you're in that fabled high MMR area, the average survs aren't getting out all that less often. If you are in that mythical MMR congrats you now get the sweats vs. the sweats, most things are broken, and the game's balance has cracked. When the matchmaking functions.

Speaking of matchmaking, showing SWF before trial would lead to massive dodging, and awful backfilling the result. Queue times for everyone will soar, player count drops, all suffer.

As far as builds go, one thing they've made perfectly clear is they wish all players to run what they like, in both roles. Again the superhuman coordination you're likely talking about is only a small amount of the playerbase, and even then they don't escape half of the time either.

On LoL there is one and it is really helpful. I just wish there was one.😁

Are you talking about a trial replay option? We'd all love to see that, and it would make the reporting so much easier too.

Unfortunately they have said it's near impossible now, that it would have had been originally in the game back in 2016. Maybe in a future DBD2?

can we finally stop acting like mnk/controller is harder to play on?

Its only harder if you are not used to.

Otherwise both can have advantages and disadvantages but its not easier or harder.

Even with practice and time most killers just cannot be played to their full potential with a controller. Many of them need snappy movement and very quick camera turning to be most effective, and feel good to play not clunky.

Input delay, dead zones in the sticks, and inferior frame rates together make it a rougher experience. And take much longer to get good with most killers. On th surv side it's less of a problem, and many players prefer a controller for that role. But for killer...

There's a reason so many players have loudly clamored for Cross Progression and/or M&K support consistently over the years. Particularly our precious Switch cousins.

I understand all that but just the fact they allowed something like this to happen and be on the live game right now is crazy, you would think man we probably should fix this before it's live but nope not this company, they're probably just boosting survival rates artificially to make Lara look good to the license holders, it's strange how these bugs happen randomly throughout the years when content like this drops and it just so happens to be in favor of the character they're dropping

I don't see them testing out in-house survs spectating or not as a possible trigger for gens popping like this. It is a unique break, well beyond their immediate ability to hotfix, and the Killswitch certainly cannot help here.

I will say it is another argument for a complete re-coding of this game from the ground up, which I believe they have said in the past they have no plans to do. We can only dream...

  • @The_Krapper said:

Seriously how hard is it to put out a hot fix to this already? I'm seeing it on average more than I am regular matches at this point, not sure what really triggers it but it's extremely frustrating to play killer when all of a sudden at 3 gens left, just one pops and it automatically counts as 3 gens like ######### is this even about? I know it wasn't the survivors doing the gens either just last match there were 3 survivors left at 3 gens and I had two slugged they were trying to do flashlight plays and all of a sudden every gen pops? I ended with a 3k still because the other survivor just immediately left their team instead of helping but if one of them had been up instead of slugged that game would've been an unwinnable match I would've had to camp immediately over a a literal game ending bug instead of play normal, I really hope this is immediately resolved for this games sake or killers aren't going to play this hot mess you've got going on.

The current theory is that when a surv is sacrificed and then leaves the trial (in other words not spectating, just dips) that triggers a gen or two to pop. Could be related to number of survs and gens left to do. A suspicious mind may ask if this is some kind of catch-up mechanism accidentally being let loose.

To your question about a hotfix:

Years back they streamlined things and began to put out updates for all platforms all at the same time. To do this they have to submit it to Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo, who each separately have to certify it. That takes around 3-5 days usually, and is not free.

If it was just Steam for instance, they prolly could put out three hotfixes a week if they cared to, but it's like 8 or so platforms altogether. They simply cannot put out updates that fast, which is common for any sizable live service crossplay game.

  • @Nazzzak said:

Just don't play until it is fixed. That seems to be the easiest solution at this time.

The hold up is probably because they need to schedule their updates with the various platforms, I don't think it's as easy as flipping a switch.

    @SweetbutaPsycho said:

As we all know things are (once again) broken since the last update in DBD. Especially that super cool gen bug that turns clear wins into clear losses is super fun.

Now to my point: I faced multiple SWF groups today that tried and sometimes managed to trigger that bug on purpose to turn their clear losses into an insta win with 3 gens remaining. After that I got the 2 remaining survs teabagging me at the exit gate, writing ez like 10 times in chat and admitting that they know this bug exists and therefor their 2 colleagues dced because it is a "survivor strategy". I find this entire interaction annoying to put it gently.

Also am I the only one that thinks at this point the entire game should just be killswitched for like a week so the devs can iron out the worst issues and maybe fix some code so it doesnt break more and more with each new update. I mean I really like that the devs are communicating about these issues and that they are working on fixing stuff but gamebreaking bugs like these should imo at most be in the game for like 1-2 days until they are fixed and not 1- multiple weeks until the next hotfix arrives.

@Nazzzak is correct here, they can't put out updates that fast. Years back they streamlined things and put out their patches for all platforms all at the same time. To accomplish that they have send it to Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft who each separately have to certify the update, which takes 3-5 days usually. And it is not free to do so either.

I don’t play killer, but imo there’s nothing wrong with Lobby dodging. If you don’t want to play a match you don’t have to and I’d rather have it done at the match making stage than to go through the rigmarole of loading in only to have a DC a few mins in.

I’d rather take it one step further and be able to see what killer you’re going against too.

The issue with lobby dodging is the backfilling problem and its terrible effect on matchmaking. Their system gets only one real shot at a fair-ish trial, and then the tolerance widens as players wait. The longer that wait, the more uneven the matchmaking, which usually leads to gross steamrolls.

Most of the complaints about a rookie killer being destroyed by a skilled team, or newbie survs being wreaked by a veteran killer have their roots in that backfilling issue.

  • If they showed SWF in the lobby those teams would all get dodged into oblivion, likely never getting into a trial again. Those killers who previously paid no attention to the lobby certainly would now.

All that dodging would lead to massive queue times for everyone, as around half of all survs are in at least a two-man. Plus it would destroy the matchmaking completely.

This idea is one of those rare things that actually would kill this game.

They couldn't get the prior gen machines to a steady 60, not because of the capabilities of those consoles or the TV's and monitors out there, but because of resource bottlenecking within the fundamental coding of the game.

I wouldn't get my hopes up here. Underneath the UE5 upgrade and past the C++ lies the bare bones of the Blueprints the game has always been built on.

It's like playing Mario in any Mario party game, the game itself just hates you.

I describe it as being on a very angry hog and trying to steer with the ears.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

PREMISE: 8 gens are way too little, as killer you need really something massive to be able to stop 8 survivors with 4 of them always rushing gens.

    • Trapper: don't even consider, you won't have time at all to place traps with 0 gens perks, No Corrupt and no good bonuses.
    • Billy: doesn't matter you're fast, with no Instadown and all those pallets you will eat dirt.
    • Huntress: maybe considerable.

    STRATEGY:

    • Play Nurse and Wraith, always.
    • 2: with Wraith, choose an area of them map you want to control, and stay around those 5/6/7 gens close together.
    • Wraith: even if you don't have Sloppy Butcher, you're quite fast. Use your ability to just injure all survivors, kick the gens, and constantly hit and run out of stealth as many survivors as possible.
    • Nurse: you're Nurse, when you're close to Wraith you have 3 blinks and you're buffed as hell..... WHY wouldn't you just control an area? Also, with the Wraith's ability you will go Undetectable! So, use your ability to down the injured survivor escaping INSANELY quick.
    • If survivors go down in a corner of the map in the 3 gen, just leave them there slugged, caging them is pointless.
    • From here, 2 strategies:
    • 1: REPEAT until everyone burns out of health states, possibly concentrate on the survivors close to dying.
    • 2: with Nurse, go across the map, go find the caged survivor while Wraith defends the gens, and tunnel them out.

And....here it is! Likely the most efficient 2v8 strategy!

You might want to swap Nurse with Huntress, but Wraith is REALLY important for macro play.

I imagine you've put wayyyyyyy more thought into killer efficiency within this mode than it was designed for. As it is right now, chaos rules for like 7-9 minutes until the gens are done and like maybe two survs are dead. And the gens will get done.

Y'all try to enjoy them chases more, that's what it's about really on the killer side, not kills and preventing the gates getting powered.

Im cool with that. But as it stands right now this looks more fun on the survivor side and more sweaty on the killer side because of how fast gens get done. As in: You cant really enjoy the fun if the match is over too fast.

Yeah I'd expect tweaks for that in a second version.down the road.

Back when Blight came out that chapter caused most of our Xbox1x machines to insta-overheat and shut down. Not the regular Xbox1 or the Slims, just the 1x consoles. Something to do with the hybrid SSD's in them. Couldn't fire up DBD until the following patch came out.

Are there any plans to try and get an emergency hot fix out this week for the most severe issues (multiple gens completing at once, too many gens needing completed) or are we looking at next week?

Their hotfixes tend to be once a week or every other week or so.

Years back they streamlined things by putting out updates across all platforms all at once. To include all of the consoles they have to submit the update to Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo, who each separately have to certify it, and there is a cost as well. That certification can take 3-7 days.

Back when the game was only on Steam they could put out a hotfix much more often as necessary. But there's a hefty process now, as there is with any sizable live service crossplay game.

  • Oh, we all have been doing that for 7-8 years now

The lack of any gen regression sure will make for fast games where killers cant barely keep up.

I'm thinking the intent is more chases, especially in tandem, rather than kills. This mode basically sets aside efficiency and competitiveness on the killer side, leaning hopefully to just for fun.

For sure, if you can't instantly teleport with binding, you just need to spam teleport like crazy, which is annoying, Otherwise you are just going to either miss a lot or have to walk after the survivor, which sucks as 110%.

It's not just console tho, most people simply can't be bothered to go so far as changing bindings for a single killer...

I believe she should be 115% so situation where you are not able to get hit from triggered trap is not so punishing for Hag.

Another issue is 3-gen feature... She used to be quite good at and creating "web" around 3-gen is still main gameplan for her, when her teleport distance is limited.

Nerf of sloppy is also kinda annoying, because she focuses mostly on spreading hits, she is terrible at focusing on single survivor.

Her gameplay is completely different to standard killer in my opinion.

How about a Haste effect for like 7 seconds or so whenever one of her traps is cleared? Not an add-on but in her kit?

  • @VomitMommy said:

I play her quite a lot and it's a lot on trap placement and of course try to give someone trip to basement whenever possible.

Unless trap is literally in middle of the the nowhere, I try to put trap when survivor is going to hold S they run into wall, basically don't put it in middle but more side so they trigger the edge of your trap (door frames etc). Issue is that's map dependant.

What you need is bind teleport to scroll wheel if you are on PC, so I start scrolling whenever I think someone is about to step into the trap.

I think that binding to the scroll wheel is part of the reason why she has a low pick rate, since it can't be done on a controller.

  • I run Distortion when I'm in a group and act as a scout, picking off the killers build as I discover it. It can be as simple as "Leathal Persurer defend yourselves!" or call out All-Seeing Wraith or if they have BBQ or Nurses or whatever.

While not a great looper, this Distortion does help me survive longer as a lot of killers do run some kind of aura reading. That's probably why it's seen more in Solo Queue as well.

Kinda inspired by a thread i saw discussing why hex perks are unpopular for killers.

I was thinking of some potential ideas that could help alleviate some of the frustrations us killer players have with hexes.

So what do y'all think of a sort of buffer period at the start of a trial before hex perks start to work? Like let's say it works like corrupt intervention where hex perks won't activate until either a survivor is down or some time has passed?

Granted this idea is kinda tricky when dealing with perks like Ruin that's supposed to help stall the early game.

    What do you think?

How about they combine the gen blocking and totem blocking effects both to Corrupt Intervention, and adjust the duration as need be? Often the totem spawns are unfortunate for the killer, and that should be looked at too.

I don't know if they are no interest to adress something in this or not, but behavior need to know tha, a lot of people gonna not be upset if they take times before releasing new character for this game IF they work on some problem on the game, the report system or some nasty bug or even, the hacker problem

And I'm kinda afraid when I see that, now, we have three new roster who come on this game on three month, we got vecna last month, now it's Lara and next month, another cast

I seem to remember them saying a match replay system cannot realistically be added to the game. It would have had to been included back in 2016 it's too late now.

    Maybe in a potential DBD2?
