No other killer tanks my FPS so much, and even though I like playing Dredge, I kinda stopped playing him that much, it's just annoying af

Am I the only one? Literally no other killer does this, and if i play only 1 Dredge game, the other ones will still suffer in terms of FPS even if I play a different killer

You may want to add what platform you're playing on, so those with more specific knowledge can offer tips.

Why is that? I never read the explanation for why Xbox don't have the anonymous feature.

The way they implemented their Anonymous Mode violated some of Microsoft's policies on Xbox. When it rolled out to the consoles we had it for maybe two weeks until they patched it out. I believe they said we won't be getting it back.

Oh since people can just make their acc look like someone elses acc and then record themselves cheating so BHVR does bann the wrong player, i'd recommend ANYONE to go and play Anon mode. I dont play with my acc name displayed no more i always use anon mode so some cheater does not use my name, i dont think thats gonna be a good idea to let them do that. And since BHVR does make it ultra hard to appeal such banns its better to not take the risk.

Those of us on Xbox cannot even use their Anonymous Mode 😕

I'm having a problem with cross platform. I use DBD with gamepass between PC and Xbox. Cross-platform fdsays it's fully enabled but everything from PC is not on my xbox. Any advice/anyone else have this issue?

If you own the game on both platforms, run them both and let them update to the latest version. That seems to help sync up everything more smoothly.

Since the vast majority of this takes place on PC's, I think this is a good argument against cross play being forced down our throats.

Most of the playerbase is on the consoles. Without combining the players the queue times on PC would soar. We just experienced what longer queues feel like with the 2v8 mode. And also most of the content creators and all of the Fog Whisperers are on PC. And yes it is entirely possible for a cheater/hacker to enter console lobbies even with CrossPlay off.

There's no way they'll remove CrossPlay. The intent is to join all the players together not separate them.

Hi guys. I usually play DBD on Xbox - I purchased it on there. I also have xbox game pass ultimate. Today I bought a gaming PC and completed the Microsoft Store Cross Progression on my account settings. However, when I boot the game up on my PC (through game pass ultimate) there is no cross progression and I have nothing on there.

Is there a fix for this?

If you bought the game on Xbox and linked everything your progress should be there. Make sure you starts DBD on every platform you own it for and update each to the latest version. That's your best bet to transfer over your stuff. If after all that you're missing content you'll have to reach out to the dev support.

  • @TheBananasMan1 said:

i came from xbox with all the killers but a few new ones and now i dont have some of the dlc ones like twins, oni, and blight to name a few. is it because i bought them on the xbox store?

The best way to sync everything up is to run DBD on every platform you have it on, and update each to the latest version. Once you do that and link everything most of your stuff should be there. If not you'll have to reach out to dev support.

  • There's lots of killers now, and the stronger ones are easier to run that Unknown. I think he's clucky and unresponsive with my controller, not as bad as say Singularity, but doesn't feel smoothe to play to me.

As for Sable, yeah they're just skins, but it's more about their look and cosmetics for many players. Plus the female survs are always insanely popular, and Sable's cosmetics are awesome.

  • @ProHikikomori said:

howdy. ive been playing dbd since about 2020. i had an account with a ton of stuff on it, and all the dlc except the d&d and lara croft one, and i synced my xbox and ps4 accounts, as my xbox is currently broken and i will be unable to afford one for the foreseeable future. absolutely none of my progress synced despite getting the all clear from the website. am i doing something wrong? im really frustrated.

I believe to best way to sync up everything for Cross Progression is to run any platform you've played DBD on and then updated to the latest version of the game. That seems to help the most with stuff transferring over smoothly.

  • The biggest issue as I see it is somehow dealing with direct tunneling with one or even no gens done vs. only a couple of gens remaining and no one dead yet. Tunneling is sometimes the correct call, and as someone mentioned earlier it's not a clear black & white discussion. There's no easy way to do this sadly.

And by direct tunneling I mean the killer returns for the unhooked surv and follows them exclusively until downed and rehooked. Not because they took an endurance hit or foolishly healed under the hook, just focused on out. The feeling a surv getting this is awful and not good for the long term health of the game. Especially for the new players, and imo is unnecessary at 5 gens.

  • @KrisMax said:

Your official post (including in clubs on consoles) indicates that starting July 25, you can log in to the game for free... Today is July 26th, the game still requires a subscription! Why is that? If I buy a Game Pass or a PS subscription, then DBD will be in the subscription anyway. What is the essence of the free period if online is not available on consoles anyway!?

If you mean you need Xbox Live to play online then yeah it's necessary for pretty much any multiplayer game on that console.

  • @Hotbeefahk said:

One of the best things about unreal tournament back in the day is that you could get in a lobby and play all night with the same group of people. Call of duty used to be like that to before they went and screwed that up.

I met a lot of friends in those games back in the day that I still play with today. A game becomes boring when you stop having your friends to play with.

To that end I suggest you improve the community aspect of the game. Make it easy to continue playing in the same party with people you run into that you like. Make it easy to friend them across platforms. Make it easy to party up and chat.

This game has the potential to remain popular for a good long time, especially if there is a strong community behind it. You can help maintain a strong community by making it ridiculously easy to meet and play with people you like. Trying to party up with someone after a match is not very easy. Figure out how to make that super easy.

It's because players were quitting or dodging lobbies because they felt intimidated by seeing a p100, even though prestige has nothing to do with skill, there is no reason to show the prestige in lobbies, if you're going to get a 'bully' squad, or if someone is going to get tunneled, chances are it is probably going to happen anyway. Players shouldn't be discouraged to play the game and they see p100s and think "damn these players are good", it's just a number, and all it did was cause more issues than not.

Players also dodge because of hours played, if they can snoop around profiles for that info. It could be thousands of hours or only having like 13 hours, some players will see that and yeet on out, messing up the matchmaking even further.

  • @appleas said:

This change is kinda amusing because amount of game hours via Steam is a far more better indicator of when to lobby dodge.

Someone can have a P1 Claudette but if they're rocking 8k hours in DBD, that's a sign that matchmaking is borked.

I think their goal is to greatly reduce the amount of dodging. And most players are not in Steam.

  • I think if Ruin makes it to endgame it should also regress the Exit Gates as well.

But as killer you can see what survivors equip before match starts, if they have flashlight then probably best to have lightborn on. Can't really complain about something like that tbh

    "and I didn't have lightborn"

And this is where you made your first mistake, my child.

Always believe in the soothing shades of our Lord.

All hail to our Lord and saviour Lightborn! 😎

Love it when the cult of Lightborn stirs and once again begins looking for worthy recruits! 😂🤣

  • Many killers have main weapon variants that are different sizes, and some interfere with vision more than others. I don't think it's ever been very consistent.

  • @Rogue11 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773576#Comment_3773576

Then if killers will still be free to lobby shop as much as they want, and BHVR won't make any effort to fix backfill logic, what is the point of this change?

I think they're slowly and cautiously looking into the lobby dodging effect, and are being super careful not to toss a lot of lobby changes all in at once. So I imagine tweaking how backfilling works is being looked at too, but not ready yet at all.

  • @Rogue11 said:

Changing the backfill logic of throwing out any mmr and just pulling a baby Meg / Trapper when someone leaves a lobby would have a far better impact on matchmaking than hiding prestige. Killers that want to lobby shop will just use other perceived proxies for "skill" like cosmetics, items, full lobby of the same character or all playing on the same platform. You're not solving the problem.

That backfill logic is due to the community itself. Each and every time we're asked if we prefer quality matches or faster queues, the resounding answer is always for queue times. The division of the playerbase due to the uniqueness of 2v8 and l also the regular mode confirms this, with the supreme outcry for killer wait times.

  • So maybe the best solution to give their matchmaking system it's best shot to work is to eliminate the lobby entirely? Seems extreme, but would likely help.

If the devs are trying to help reduce lobby shopping & dodging, seeing how not having Prestiges shown for everyone is the next logical test. Anything to help the matchmaking out is worth trying imo.

I didn't consider this, it's good point; what about merging that with the anonymous mode? That could help blur the reason why it's hidden?

I do prefer it wasn't hidden for me, I feel less good about my prestige not being displayed in the pre-lobby, but I appreciate it being an issue.

Wouldn't help everyone as those on Xbox cannot even use their Anonymous Mode.

While its true that Nightlights stats are biased and crooked, ie only players who care about the game a lot would even think about uploading there, the vast swaths of casual players probably never heared of it, its still a big enough sample size to show more then just flukes. There have been a couple if instances, where Nightlight got 7 of the 10 most played perks right and their stats coincided with the official one that BHVR released.

So while nothing at Nightlight should be taken at face value or extrapolated at "the whole playerbase", its very good at showing trends and I can think of no instance, where a problematic or underused perk didn't show exactly that at its stats in Nightlight.

Also, think about this: while the player who reports themselves are biased, their opposition is just a glimps of what you will encounter in the wild. When I upload a survivor match, the killers I got matched with are the kind of killers that I run into every other game. And when I upload one of my killer matches, my loadout might stay the same, but the 2-3 DH (for example) are data collected out in the real game.

I know for stats we don't really have anything else to use besides Nightlight, but I have several reservations about going by it.

First off it's entirely supplied by the community, so bais of which trials to include is kinda built in. And as another noted above these players are also much more likely to be sweaty.

Second it's just in English, limiting its reach. Next I doubt any consoles mess with it, further limiting its reach big time, as the majority of the playerbase is on the consoles.

And because of all that Nightlight lacks global coverage, and is why perks like Self Care do not show their overall usage accurately for instance.

Useful for trends maybe, but imo not much beyond that.

  • @I_CAME said:

Great change. Now make it so they can't examine profiles until after the game is done. Anonymous mode should be on by default in the lobby. Then lobby dodging is solved. I would go a lot farther to be honest. I wouldn't even let them see cosmetics or items if it were up to me. Just a silhouette of the survivor is all that's needed.

Those of us on Xbox cannot even use their Anonymous Mode

Steam profile, edit profile, privacy settings, private / friends only

if you can't manage this you frankly deserve to be lobby shopped

That works for Steam, but most of the playerbase is on the consoles

Their anti-cheat only looks for game file changes, and crosshair overlays would be outside of that. So you should be just fine. Do keep in mind though, if that anti-cheat does ban you the devs cannot do anything about it.

  • Just wait until down the road when there's Trapper and Hag in this mode.

  • Love you Switch cousins y'all the real heroes! 🤗

  • I believe the intent is not to stop the gens or prevent any from escaping, but for a more casual & chaotic match. So many more chases and comboing the duel killers together for fun plays.

Most of the trials will end up with all gens done and 2-4 survs out, unless there's some hardcore slugging going on.

when i play at night the majority of my matches have a map offering . Could we make sacrificial ward only get burned if it activelly counters a map . I hate how most times i do bring a ward it just happens to be against a team who didn't try and send me to erye. Simply making wards only get used if they canvel a map would help alot against this. I am asking for to much just to get a random map and not be sent to the same 5 realms everytime ?

I wouldn't mind any map offerings/wards getting returned to the inventory if not applied, for either side. But I see the gamble aspect of burning them, and we do visually see them get burned.

As an alternative, what if the wards are changed to brown rarity, and killers also get one with each prestige level reached, to ensure a somewhat reasonable supply of them?

Hey I just tried to Sync my dead by daylight account with my Xbox but I keep on getting the We encountered a problem while syncing your progress. Try again later. Error. I saw the forums of this error and says you need to upgrade your dead by daylight account to its latest version. Only problem is that when I had that dead by daylight I had it through Xbox gamepass but no longer have it. I have proof its in my xbox game library.

I'm pretty sure the best way to sync things up is to run DBD on all platforms you own the game for, allow it to update to the current version. This seems to be the best step to get things to line up well for Cross Progression.

39% escape rate in solo q high mmr compared to 48% escape rate 4 man swf in high mmr is not 5% more escape rate tho.

4 man swf in high mmr have a 9% higher escape rate compared to high mmr solo q.

The amount of players in high MMR is so small compared to the overall playerbase that their escape numbers are imo a poor indicator of pretty much anything. Especially 4-mans, which would be the tiniest of the tiniest groups.

In the vast majority of trials these elite players are not encountered practically at all, and those that do are also those seldom seen epic killers. When the matchmaking functions these sweats should only get these sweats.

Dozens of reports of Macmillan and Autohaven map generation bugs but no action taken yet. Why haven't they been killswitched? Players are using map offerings to go to these realms and it's not fun. Is DbD unable to killswitch realms on vanilla without affecting the special mode?

I imagine the Killswitch would remove both realms from any game mode, regular or 2v8. Prolly cannot do one without effecting the other.

I don't think those cells can be an incentive like that. They're tied to real money and in Japan particularly such things are regulated, and I think maybe on the Switch as well.

you can’t deal with built in chats on consoles. BHVR has stated before they can’t take changes to the game that would disrupt core functions of consoles. They need approval to get patches through now. Neither Sony, Microsoft, nor Nintendo would allow DBD to deactivate voice chat that comes through console.

Oh I know, I was making a point about players only thinking in terms of just Discord etc. and not considering their proposals across all platforms.

    Meming or die trying.

Whenever me and a bud get Plague I instantly know they're going to spend the rest of the trial just following me around and puking on me.

This is the same person who when they feel like it have incredible looping skills, the astonishing ability to hide in plain sight, and butt wiggle their way out of wayyyyyyy too many lunges.

But if we get Plague? Yeah I'm getting puked on all match. DBD is a strange beast, it really does things to ya! 😜😂🤮

  • Also I've found on my Xbox that should I start DBD when there's an update downloading but it says Ready to Start, all of my perks, cosmetics, and charms get reset. And yeah only the tutorial was playable. So I just always let it finish the update first now.

Might be the case for the PlayStations too.

  • I do wish there weren't "mains" of either role, those who only play one side pretty much exclusively. If all players played both roles to at least a competent level, not only would they find themselves better at their preferred side, but also understanding, compassion, and empathy for everyone would increase as a result.
