  • Yeah Wraith and Trapper both have powers that are easy to use and understand. You can use your knowledge as a more seasoned surv to help ya, but as others have said best thing is to get in there and play.

who thought it was a good idea to have the anti camp bar pause when someone gets downed near the hook. Just had a game where got facecamped by a skull merchant ace went down in front of me she just kept a him there till I died on hook. Surely then if all times is when the anti camp should save me who designed this?

Your solo teammates will get you killed more often than the killer's actions. This is an example of that.

I play from Xbox Windows and I have the issue where the game doesn´t open since the update due to an error with "EasyAntiCheat not installed", which is not true. I checked the files and the problem is that the file is outdated; it´s from Windows 8, not 10, so it´s not compatible. I´ve seen other players reporting this issue. I´ve also seen players that can open the game but not load into the menu because of their client number not being detected or something like that, there again because of EasyAntiCheat.

My question is, is Behaviour doing anything about it or have they said anything about the topic? I check the forums and twitter everyday but they haven´t said anything about it. I can´t play the new chapter and I´m starting to get upset about the fact there haven´t beern any mentions from BE about this issue. Last issue when loading the game was players having incompatible versions of the game with other players and that issue was fixed in a matter of a couple of days, and it wasn´t even about the games not opening, it was an issue of not being able to play with friends on different platforms.

They don't work weekends so hopefully you'll get something on Monday or Tuesday

  • I only throw a map offering when I'm playing surv and get like three or four indoors in a row and need to break that up. Rip to the occasional ScratchMirror Myers who wants their Lery's and because of me were looking at corn! 😁

I think the possibility to play with friends on non-custom games is funny, but has to be removed: there are too many SWF groups who act on a very over-organized way to beat the killer and I also mean bully squads by that. Even though I'm sorry to say that, premades and SWF groups, with the possibility to communicate in a game which is funnier without that possibility, give an unjust advantage on survivors. I think there has to be an unranked mode where SWF groups can play, even though I know not many killers will pick the unranked mode, so, unranked matches, will have to give a lot more bloodpoints than ranked ones, or killers should have something more that balances the mode.

I know this will probably be controversial, but, in my opinion, this is the path DBD should pick

Firstly the 2v8 mode showed us that the game cannot support splitting up the queues. Secondly why would any killer at all knowingly queue up against SWF when they could guaranteed go against solos?

With something like half of all survs in some form of SWF this suggestion would wreak queue times and break matchmaking completely.

The entire point of the change is to lessen the reasons to lobby dodge and shop in the first place, reinforcing the matchmaking.

First time I played this game it was from pc I was playing mostly killer then I switched on console I find it really hard to play killer from console especially most of the killers it's hard to use their abilities from controller.. does someone knows if in the future we gonna have the option to switch from controller to mouse and keyboard?

Each and every time this is asked the answer has always been they have no plans to add M&K support sadly.

as I mentioned it’s just more difficult, for specifically the kinds of killers you are talking about (killers that can do flicks and such) console just can’t compete as well without you changing your sensitivity a TON.

It’s a harder and longer road to learn killers like blight and one on controller but it is possible, it just requires a lot more muscle memory and most importantly self discipline.

And the fps gods need to be smiling down upon you. I for one dunno how our precious Switch cousins do it!.

I'm not hating on console players by any means if you think that. I know there are always choices and factors. I used to be console player back at the days and i still to this day think RPGS are best played on console. There are games i own on steam that i hate playing on keyboard which are just simply better on controller.

I'm just simply stating the fact that DBD used to be PC only game at the start no? Correct me if im wrong. So of course they are going to be more catered towards PC.

Lack of space… well honest Big ass tv takes more space than small desk and a PC. Money wise.. yeah Pcs are pricey and requires more parts, and not everyone can afford to buy expensive gaming PCs, which you don't need to play this game. You can easily play this game with 500-600 euro /dollar PC. Which is the same price as PS5. Many people enjoy sitting on the couch and kick back and play the game. I'm not blaming them, but sitting far away from the tv and not having the options PC has comes with that choice. I can almost every time tell whos a controller/ console player when i see one as a killer. They have clumsier movements than PC killers.

DBD came out in 2016, and for about a year or so was just on Steam. Then in 2017 it was ported over to PS4 and Xbox1, and onto Switch. Afterwards came Windows & Stadia, and lastly the wonderful experience with adding in Epic. So for about a year early on it was just on Steam.

Is it still too PC-favored? Depends on how you look at it. By far most of the players are on console, yet no M&K support and as you correctly point out many killers cannot be played anywhere near their full potential with a controller. For playing as a surv it's pretty good but not perfect. Then there's this lovely discussion here about filters and dismally small in-game options.

However there's no PTB access, and no representation among the Fog Whisperers either. I'm not even sure if the devs can get their Tim Horton's in the morning without opening up Steam first. 🤣

As for costs, that entirely depends on where in the world you are, and how strong a machine you build. For lots of reasons DBD is a unusually demanding beast in resources to run well. Iffy optimization is a part of that, plus the underlying 2016 coding the game's been built upon.

At this point better start running hardware checks and banning people who intentionally play on Low settings to reduce foliage since it's an objective advantage.

You know us consolers cannot even change the graphics low-high-ultra whatever PC can do? We're locked at High I believe.

  • @SkeletonDance said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3787411#Comment_3787411

Highly doubt it, dbd isn't that great to play on controller

I never said it was, as I am one of those using one. As for player numbers, we sadly cannot ever know exact numbers ever. The various UEA's prevent it.

But for DBD it sorta breaks down like this:

The largest portion is on the PlayStations, around of half of which is still on PS4. Say around a third of the whole. Next would be the various Xbox consoles, around a quarter of the whole, and also half still on the prior gen machines. And then Steam is right there at almost a quarter. After that would be Switch, and then much smaller in size is Epic and Windows. Stadia never accounted for many players and is dead now anyways.

It seems otherwise as the PCers are much more vocal here and elsewhere, plus most of the content creators and all of the Fog Whisperers are all on PC.

  • @SkeletonDance said:

I doubt that they're gonna ban 70%+ of playerbase

Most of the playerbase is on the consoles. The PlayStations outnumber those on Steam for instance.

  • @HexHuntressThighs said:

That’s gonna be sad if I get banned because I have poor eyesight and have to use Nvidia to help me since DBD has no options.

I see both sides of the filter arguments here.

The devs have always spent countless hours and resources on their game's lighting and sound design, and definitely have a "look" they're after. The old moon offerings were retired just for that reason.

Then there's the sparse options that you bring up, and that's valid. So many other titles, many far more graphically demanding that DBD and just as big or bigger, have way more robust options for all of this.

It should surprise no one that the players themselves look for these options, and our PC cousins have much more at their disposal to alter stuff around. Then there's the legitimate accessibility concerns as well.

In just bringing that part back, or the removal of it with this change?

Showing the Prestiges in a SWF lobby before loading into the full lobby, absolutely no problem let's do that. But in the full lobby, I'm glad it's gone. Anything to discourage lobby shopping in either role.

  • Listen I'm not getting into "fairness" territory here. I know full well there are (and have to be) many differences across the platforms. Us consolers should know these do-dada and thingamabobs exist in PC land. I imagine our precious Switch cousins feel anything above 30 frames is borderline criminal for DBD.

This recent change is kinda re-setting a precedent here, and I'm curious what happens next.

  • @Tamo said:

Exactly what I hoped wouldn't happen has happened.

Keep the lobby as is, not showing prestige there to avoid lobby dodging is fine. Seeing it at the end, wow amazing. Can we please still see it when we're in the invited lobby bit! That's all I wanted to stay when the change was announced to be happening because me & my friends like being able to show each other the prestige change. Besides why would it matter if we can see each other's prestige till we end up in an actual lobby?

Please bring this back at least, it feels kind of silly prestige-ing now otherwise.

I see no harm in this at all

  • @RickSanchez said:

Maps are way too big and this destroys so many killers like deathslinger that have poor map control, its just terrible

While this is true for the killers who lack some mobility, it brings in other problems. Gens get spawned in even closer together, totems become more predictable so hex's get found even quicker, tiles are made closer so chaining them together is even easier, things like that.

  • @TheArbiter said:

Slight rant here, but I just had another hacker in my lobby who lo and behold is on Epic because hackers have thousands of accounts you can purchase for $5. I wouldn't be too annoyed but now i have to go out of my way to the website to submit a ticket and upload a video when all of this should be possible through the game. It shouldn't be this much of a burden on the players who are affected - end rant

I agree their reporting system does need to be more player friendly. If I remember correctly, it's too late to add in any kind of match replay system now. That such a thing would have had been originally coding in back in 2016, and the time & resources to cram it in would be near-impossible sadly.

The reason why nobody wants to play The Hag is simple although she has potential, her power to camp on hooks has weakened with the borrowed time base kit and the nerf for camp and the fact survivors can remove traps without a flashlight for this reason has lost quite a bit a power and I recommend making 3 adjustments.

Increase movement speed from 4.4 to 4.6ms.
Increase terror radius to 32 meters. (this compensates for the base movement speed)
Increase the speed to install phantasm traps to 0.7 seconds.

Remove add-ons to set traps faster and add addons such as this one:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/G6K03AI2IXMS/92ed29328a8a6e1b5eeaa2c3f2a8c823.png

With these numerical adjustments the Hag will gain a lot in playability and it will be more common to find her in games.

You can always make changes later if you feel the Hag is getting too strong but this is preferable to have a killer in the game with little use.

I don't play Hag for the simple reason that there's a half-second to a third of a second input delay when using a controller with her. Those using a mouse simply rebind her attack to the scroll wheel, so they can insta-swing when teleporting, but you cannot do that with the controller.

So most teleport hits miss, and her base speed makes her lose so much distance. I imagine those with a mouse wouldn't play her either if that insta-swing wasn't possible.

Short of M&K support, which doesn't look like it's ever happening, no changes they do can remedy this.

  • @aklai said:

love the face camp meter, but it needs to stay regardless of the state of the game. otherwise killers just camp a hooked surv during endgame and makes it unfun for everyone involved

Once the gens are done, the killer no longer needs to patrol gens or pretty much anything else but guard a hooked surv.

    Hi team, thanks for reading.

First off, I'd be remiss not to add another voice to the pile of "please give us a P100 reward" - whether it be a charm, an outfit, etc…please. It's such a rough grind, it's most importantly a FREE grind (anyone can do it! ANYONE AND EVERYONE! Not everyone can buy cosmetics!), and we deserve a fun celebration at the end of it.

In the interim, you've now taken away the real main joy of reaching prestige 100ing a character: sharing that joy with others! I know some people just do it for themselves and that's cool, but not me. I want to flex. In solo queue, it's super fun to match my P100 Zarina with strangers. In SWFs, it's so satisfying to have everyone matching those red iridescent numbers.

I respect and appreciate you listened to people who wanted to hide said prestige, I think it's great you listened and actioned a response. However, not all players want this, and I'd argue not even the majority want it.

Please make it a toggleable affect like anon mode. Please. I want to share in the P100 joy with others :)

When they put flexing something up against strengthening matchmaking by reducing lobby shopping & dodging, imo there's no choice there.

And not all of us can even use their Anonymous Mode at all either.

the issue with “haha camping is le bad so your entire argument is actually also le bad” is that camping, when used correctly, is a valid strategy.

example, i play wraith, one of the best strats you can do is hook someone, leave the hook and injure multiple people hopefully the entire team, and come back to force 2nd stage, since nobody can trade if everybody is injured. increased hook stages will hard nerf this strat because survivors will have even more time to reset and prevent you from pushing 2nd. i’m arguing that this strat does not need a nerf, it already has counterplay as any decent player already knows.

What if another reasoning for this change is specifically to make hook trades and forcing a second stage harder to achieve? I have not seen that written anywhere as intended, but taking the entire surv playerbase into consideration (not just the ones who do know what they're doing) it could make sense. The average surv doesn't like going into second stage no matter what the reason is.

Very straight forward to the point. I keep getting disconnected and then I receive Matchmaking Locked penalties up to 15 minutes. I am not disconnected on purpose & also the game disconnects me when I am winning. When I try to play again my "locked out of matchmaking" time has been increasing from 1minute to 15 mins EVEN though I am not choosing to disconnect & it keeps happening when I am winning as a killer. Please Help I do not want a 24 hour ban just because there are some connection issues between my computer and your server.

    Developers?
Why doesn't this game have a "rejoin" feature? is 10 years old. Instead of banning players for absolutely no good reason. Just let us rejoin and if we don't rejoin by the time the match is over, we get the penalty. This should be also added to survivor as well. This feature shouldn't be too difficult at all, don't understand why isn't implemented instead of this horrendous you get banned if your connection drops.

I seem to remember them saying something about a reconnect feature would have had been originally coded in back in 2016, that it's too late now. Much like why it's near-impossible to add in a match replay system either.

    Maybe in a potential DBD2?

  • @Leonard0w said:

There are common spawn locations so a lucky guess is definitely plausible.

Shack and Main Building are good to check first, even without offerings it's likely to be in one of these locations. Then outside of that you have on the top of hills or in the middle of jungle gym tiles, if the map has them. Then check the open spaces.

Certain maps have their own unique spawn locations, such as Swamp in which the hatch can also spawn at any point on the very edge of the map, particularly in corners. Likewise Gideon likes to put hatches in the corners too.

Years back before they shrunk down the Swamps I remember carrying a surv looking for hatch and it taking eons to find. Often it was along one of those edges.

what is your favorite (non killer/perk) update to the game?

Adding more time to generators will only buff camping and tunneling, which are already too strong as it is.

    This right here.

If you're struggling with early game, Leathal Persurer or Corrupt Intervention may be useful to you. Since that first chase is so important, learning if that chase is worth it (based on the map and the killer) can dictate how the trial begins.

Good killer game sense taught through many many matches of experience imo is the most important aspect though. The others brought up another good point, that sometimes players aren't at the MMR they should be, for lots of reasons.

As a very broad statement, overall killer is in the best spot it's ever been. Gen speeds are only an issue in the higher MMR area, where most things are broken anyway. Thankfully those players make up a tiny portion of the playerbase. If you're actually in that mythical high level area enjoy the sweat!

  • @Arqueus said:

I was playing as Wesker just now and all of the sudden I tried to vault a window, but I got stuck for a few moments. Everything was still moving around me but suddenly I got disconnected from the match and it said "You have been disconnected from the server" Or, something similar I didn't think much of it because it had happened before. But then I went back to the menu and as it turns out I got penalized as if I had intentionally disconnected.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JOCCST6UXNYL/image.png

I'm making this post to clarify that I didn't intend to disconnect. It was the game but still got penalized for it.

Sounds like the server died if you got that message. Their system doesn't differentiate between connection issues and players manually leaving. It just knows you left, and applies the penalties the same in either case.

Otherwise it would be open to abuse as players could get around the DC penalty just by pulling their Internet cords or whatever.

Engine upgraded yeah, but coding? I don't believe so. Three zom zoms just might melt a Switch though.

You’re correct. The devs have stated they aren’t bringing in voice comms, they’re not removing SWF (which would kill the game), and there are no plans to create an ‘ranked’ and ‘casual’ mode either. Frankly, I think this would probably kill the game as well if considering what happened with 2v8 / 1v4. There weren’t enough survivors willing to play so both queues suffered. Would be the same with a ranked vs casual mode really.

My issue with splitting the queues isn't just not likely having enough players to reasonably fill them both. It's how would we keep the sweats out of the casual area, who would roll in there looking to stomp and pillage? What incentives would be enough to make anyone pick a much harder mode willingly? I don't think shards or even cosmetics would be sufficient.

  • @Jim_Tonic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3782158#Comment_3782158

    How so?

Because swf is strongest when they KNOW when the killer is approaching and they just get away early enough so the killer cant catch up. That only works so perfect with voice comms.

I think the the biggest advantage of SWF isn't the comms, which in most groups never use it to its fullest potential.

It's the midigating of the rng aspect of solo queue. You know if your mates are doing challenges. You know that they'll likely not leave you behind, or get to second stage needlessly, or sandbag recklessly, things like that.

Much of what makes solo queue so rough is gone when you can know something of your mates, their strengths and weaknesses and tendencies. All of this I feel matters more than calling out killer locations and what perks they're running.

  • @Deathstroke said:

No best solution is to just tighter the matchmaking. If swf is very good and escapes majority of times they should face more nurses and blights. SoloQ players who struggle should face more weaker killers. Also swf who is not good should face weaker killers. Better matchmaking is all that is needed.

Like a year and a half back or so they tightened the matchmaking up significantly. The result was longer queue times for most players, and the sweatier players complained when they only got sweatier players to go against. The loudest complaining came from streamers who started to get burned out due to stressful match after stressful match repeatedly.

So the skill levels started to balance out some, but they didn't like it. And as for queue times, each and every time community gets asked whether they want faster queues or quality matchmaking, the resounding answer is always for faster queues.

So basically players do not want to wait, want fairish trials, but not back to back sweating either. I don't envy the devs figuring that one out. 😕

Imo the best way to improve matchmaking is to continue to work through the reasons players lobby shop & dodge. When players leave lobbies the awful backfilling happens. The longer people wait the worse it gets, until the system just grabs whoever and throws them in. Maybe it's no lobbies at all, I'm not sure. Not showing Prestiges should help some.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/424056/swf-need-a-time-gen-debuff

This is not the proper way to deal with this problem, there are 3 ways that would be good, each with their own tradeoffs, on how to deal with this problem, that would not affect game balance of solo vs SWF.

    • Make voice chat a thing, allow survivors to communicate with each other by default. This won't perfectly close the gap but it would significantly strengthen solo queue communication. Then, killers can be buffed accordingly to deal with the fact that coms is the more normal thing.
    • Remove SWF and force solo queue only. I think this would be extremely unlikely, but in theory it is possible, you can play with your friends if you want using the custom KYF mode and SWF will no longer be a thing.
    • Separate out the queues, create a ranked queue that is 3-4 man SWF only, and a solo queue that only allows duos, and ensures that survivors are either 4 solos, or 2 solos and 1 duo. Then they can balance each mode accordingly. For example, in CS:GO, the ranked mode has a different economy and balance than the casual mode where you get free money and armor for just playing.

And I'm pretty sure they said they will not do any of these three options either. The second one is imo one of those rare things that would actually kill the game, with almost half of all survs in a least a two-man SWF.

  • @Lit said:

Now that 2vs8 is gone can we fix the servers please?

The constant hits through pallets and windows which shouldn't have hit is still absolutely broken. unplayable in some matches it'd be great if it could be fixed

Such hits are usually because of latency and ping, along with the ummm, interesting coding of this game.

  • @GolbezGarlandGabrant said:

Try later in the evening. Before 2vs8 there wasn't an incentive for killer for me until evening hours and beyond.

This is also what I've noticed too

  • @Ronaldo said:

So i played against couple players who was cheating and i couldn't see there profile or anything so i wanted to know if someone keeps changing there name while Anonymous Mode is on does it mess with the report ? While i was playing against the hacker there is a glitch while unhooking they can teleport when holding the survivor. its basically the glitches that the hacker has been using for the past 3-4 years so idk how you guys haven't patch those thing. don't need a better anti cheat just need fix certain bugs that they use

All you need to do is the in-game reporting, that flags that trial and all players in it. They then can review the report and the video proof for it and act if appropriate.

Anonymous Mode doesn't prevent this. So if they're on Steam for instance, you don't need to see their Steam ID to report them.

  • @I_mean_yeah said:

    Just nerf WoO ?!?!?!?

    There, I've said it.

I know, I know, everyone will come here and point out that it's just a perk for new survs trying to learn the maps.

But no, you know it's not only that, I know it's not only that, you know everyone is spamming it, no matter if they have 20 hours of game time, or 5k hours.

WoO is the most annoying thing a survivor can have when you're playing an M1 killer, even with Brutal Strength, the amount of time a survivor can waste due to this one single perk is incredible.

They know if a pallet has been wasted or not, so they will just avoid that area and go somewhere else, or just keep running straight to the other side of the map where all the gens are done and try to waste as much time there.

It basically nullifies most of the work a killer is doing in breaking the pallets

Now i know the other argument as well, "it's not the perk, it's the amount of pallets on the map". But now I wonder, what's easier to do? Change all the maps, cause when you remove a pallet you usually have to remove an entire loop, or just add a cooldown to WoO???

Windows is more than just new surv friendly that's true. However without voice comms solos cannot know what resources have been used up, not just where the vaults are in the tiles.

Imo what the less mobile killers need is some kind of help in chase, be it though their power or in their kit. Something like Trapper being 117% movement without traps on them, or my beloved Piggy moving at that speed while survs have inactive traps on them.

Map offerings are only a problem if maps are a problem, so fix the maps.

100% balance is not feasible or necessary, so it's not an impossible task.

    1. Rework the worst offenders, notably Badham.

    2. Introduce new maps or map variations to realms that currently only have a single option. With multiple options per realm, you still have RNG within the pool of a given offering, so that offering is not a guaranteed advantage.

This way, we're not removing valid gameplay options for players. Offerings are still useful, for completing certain challenges, playing certain killers/builds, and wanting to go to a given realm for fun/aesthetics should be an option.

This approach would be best. Those offerings should only be for simple preference, or maybe needed to get a particular challenge done, but not for ridiculous advantage.

There's also a couple of killer builds dependant on only a select few maps so those add-ons etc. should be looked at too.

At least Nemesis with 4 zombies. Then add another or not, doesnt matter.

I'm just imagining a Switch trying to run all of that! 🤔 Prolly melt them. 😂🤣

Also the bigger maps with more clutter and rocks for the zom zoms to get constantly stuck on may be a problem.

  • I imagine we'll get very few if any licensed killers, as to reach the biggest audience they kinda have to stick to the free killers available.

Honestly we'd think there should be a random rotation. Would be lovely chaos.

I like this option. Since the players aren't bringing perks or add-ons it would matter much less which killer they get.

    PC > STEAM

I've heard that the game runs better on Epic games store though

Perhaps some of our PC cousins can advise you then! 😊
