  • Honestly when that happens I really hope the killer isn't a tool by killing you. To me it's an unspoken rule to give the last survivor hatch if their team ditches them (especially early on)

  • Im someone who stopped playing when Legion released and I came back this january and have been playing a lot again

-What improved in the last 5 months

(I'm limiting each to 5 points for the sake of time)

    1. The hud of the game is a lot better where it's easier to keep track of things and it gives a lot more info

    2. Although I didn't mind it, huntress iri hatchets are nerfed which a lot of people have been asking for. Now they aren't worth using at all

    3. Decisive strike is less free for survivors where its more of an anti tunnel perk now

    4. The maps are becoming much better designed with the Farmhouse maps getting especially better

    5. New struggle mechanic for 2nd hook phase. This won't require button mashing which is nice and will use skill checks instead that are easy

-things that are a mixed bag

    1. BT buff. It now always trigger no matter what. It's nice that freddy no longer benefits from it as insanely but the fact it always happens makes an already really good perk a must have perk.

    2. Freddy nerf. Although I personally think he didn't need much of a nerf he is getting nerfed in just about all areas which is excessive. It's nice that his sleep mechanic and BT stuff are weaker but he is now too weak imo. They just did a nerf across the board on him without really trying to make him focused on a new playstyle

    3. Hex ruin and undying nerf- no longer nearly as insane as it was. On the one hand it's nice to have them be less must have but totems were already not very good perks

    4. Trickster chapter- he is currently a very weak killer and seems like he could be hard to balance due to his power. Most of the perks in the chapter aren't worth your time but starstruck is a definetly worthwhile perk to check out

    5. Wraith buff- wraith got a speed buff related to cloaks which was much needed for him. He still isn't super amazing but he is better

    -what got worse

    1. Overall balancing killer vs survivor- even setting aside if the game is actually going more survivor or killer sided, the most recent patches and such have resulted in longer survivor queues and has made less killers play the game. There needs to be more reason for killers to keep playing even if it isn't necessarily a balance change. Killers are not playing nearly as much for one reason or another

    2. Moris- now they only work after 2 hooks which makes them now worthless since they cost so much to get, you get less BP using them than they are worth, you waste time using them, and score worse in game using them than just a hook.

    3. Clown got a new power added that doesn't actually solve his problem. He has a bottle that adds speed to him but survivors can also use it and cancel his original bottle. It's a rework that doesnt...work. id say it's only bad because it doesn't solve his issues actually and he will likely stay the same for awhile since they just changed him

    4. Mmr match making has been mostly bad. You get regularly matched up with random people (say you are yellow rank 18 you may still get all red rank players)

    5. Devs seem to have been making a lot of changes people haven't requested while ignoring a number people have requested (originally they nerfed demos rather liver addon but have since changed their mind while not adding ricochet to tricksters base kit like everyone wanted)

-Is the community more involved than before

1 id say the same mostly. It does seem like the game has been trending more towards killer nerfs and survivor buffs which I think has made less killers in the game

-Any new gamebreaking bugs that we can expect to stay in for a year

    1. Breakdown bug- I haven't tried it but heard that breakdown can permanently destroy hooks which is obviously baddd

    etc.

    Id say somewhere between:

    1. Meh/okay time to come back
    2. Bad time to come back

If you like to play killer a lot od lean more towards bad time. The game has gotten much less fun as killer and it doesn't seem like that is changing (if anything is getting worse). It's not so much killers need to be stronger (that could be a part of it) but it's not nearly as enjoyable to play killer even across the last few oaths I've been back with the various changes happening.

If you are a survivor player I'd say largely fine time to join although the wait times are the biggest issues.

I'm someone who plays and always played each side even (red ranks both) but have struggled to want to do killer since it's frustrating most of the time now while survivor feels generally easy now (other than when you have bad teammates)

  • Atleast add ice on his boots. That would be enough

  • It's especially annoying when you let a survivor go at the end to be nice and they just teabag and troll....

  • They seemed to mostly just to a nerf on him as a whole (other than teleport) in hopes of reducing his kill rate. It doesn't feel like a very thought out nerf and they just threw everything they could to weaken him. He got overly nerfed imo (he wasn't thattt bad to begin with imo) but he could have used a nerf. Now I don't see a lot of reason to use him. It would be one thing to encourage people to play differently with him by doing something like nerf his pool spamming but buff his pallets but instead they just did almost all penalties on him which makes him at best do about the same stuff but less effective or not a good choice to use anymore. I'd put him in bottom 5 killers now honestly since he doesn't really do anything better than other killers besides teleport to gens (which many killers could do similar things). Nerfing him is totally fine but at least give him something he is better at.

-his chase game is a lot weaker with slower pool set up and less pools

-he can't defend in general nearly as well due to less traps, addon nerfs, BT nerf (although this was needed), and clocks giving sleeping immunity which nullifies most of Freddy's addons and tools

-he can't set up much beyond a single gen due to lack of many traps

-pallets still aren't very useful besides a single time generally

-his new addons aren't good. Hearing survivors louder isn't much of a change and black box you are giving up a lot to use and you may not even get to use it due to keys

I see him being used much less and don't see much reason for people to use him when other kills have better trap game, better chase game, better time wasting, and comparable mobility

I actually did a rift challenge for SftS and I used Doctor on Lerys. Static Blast and then increasing TR forced them to run and scare the crows.

I just hate when I'm on a multi-story map and it goes off above my head like on Midwich. I can't do much and sort of gives direction.

Yeah I think spies is overall a slept on perk

Whispers is actually an excellent perk when it’s used well.

Although I dont like Whispers a ton it is potentially the most used detection perk (even more than bbq)

  • I prefer spies from the shadows more than Whispers since it gives more direction, not many people run calm spirit, and it works well on most maps (bodies multiple level maps but that info can still be helpful often)

    Doc. I play doctor

for some reason this made me laugh way too hard

  • Imo this should be base and they should give a better ultra rare instead (maybe even a faster movement speed for this would be fine).

Iri got nerfed too hard as well. Give base 2 hatchets and cap at 2 is much more reasonable. Now iri is potentially one of her worst addons for her which is terrible terrible ultra rare to be bad for a killer

  • Hard to believe people want Billy's addons added to other killers and not the other way around lol

  • Small game does feel like it needs a new name though honestly lol. Small game still sounds like it refers to traps mostly

  • A bit of a seperate topic, but how would people feel if they increased the number of totems and made hex perks trigger with 2 totems where either

    - you have to remove both active totems to remove the perk

    (And possibly)

    - removing one totem results in a weaker version of the totem until both are removed (such as hex ruin goes down to 100% instead of 200%)

This would give more bp opportunities for survivors as well as make hex perks more viable overall

wow, that sounds like a horrible change. Each time the perk gains tokens it just becomes harder and harder to spot more totems because the radius is not consistent and the totem may be further and further away from you from what you are used to.

Tbh, i love the change mostly. It's nice having a perk that gives more info that people have been requesting and makes small game even more different than detectives hunch which is nice. I am bummed to lose trap detection but that only effects a couple killers anyways

"Personally I'd be much more open to a counter if they first fixed totem spawns and made totems beefier/more defensible. They are just way to easy to shut down even in solos which is why you don't see most of the hex perks used on top of some totem perks don't need to be totem perks (such as crowd control)."

And everyone that I know who's wanted solo buffs have also talked about buffs across the board to killer game mechanics- totems take longer to cleanse and are hidden better, gens are slower, killers quicker, their perks stronger.

" The argument that swf get something for free isn't a great basis to me honestly since they get tons of info for free (such as where the killer is most of the game without perks, certain perks become way more powerful in swf, etc). That's an issue with swf and not an issue with solos. "

And that 'Issue with swf' must be taken into account to balance the game. It isn't going anywhere and you can't nerf swf without killing dbd so buffing solos and killers is the only other option.

" There is also the fact that the counter largely doesn't matter outside of noed (besides having more chances to get bp) since most hex perks let you know they are active pretty quickly."

This one I agree with, kind of. Perks like Inner Strength still exist and knowing if your team are on gens or totems is valuable information you just don't get. Noed only takes this issue and exacerbates it.

Yeah I figured you'd be reasonable in the first point. It's nice lol.

And for the second part, it's mostly an issue with swfs existing unfortunately. In concept swf sounds like a great idea but in actual play it's super busted and will be no matter what changes are made due to coms existing in a game that is meant to have each player be provided limited knowledge. Swf will continue to be stronger regardless of changes because map awareness is the strongest thing in the game as a survivor and nothing can be changed to address those when coms will always be available. I wish it weren't the case but it really is

  • Totems are already way too easy to find without perks honestly

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Solos shouldn't have to use items, perks, or add-ons to get information SWF get for free

Personally I'd be much more open to a counter if they first fixed totem spawns and made totems beefier/more defensible. They are just way to easy to shut down even in solos which is why you don't see most of the hex perks used on top of some totem perks don't need to be totem perks (such as crowd control).

Until they fix these things, they don't need to add a counter base.

The argument that swf get something for free isn't a great basis to me honestly since they get tons of info for free (such as where the killer is most of the game without perks, certain perks become way more powerful in swf, etc). That's an issue with swf and not an issue with solos. There is also the fact that the counter largely doesn't matter outside of noed (besides having more chances to get bp) since most hex perks let you know they are active pretty quickly.

Noed is not nearly as common as people make it out to be. One night I played 20 games in a row and counted each game with noed (whether it became active or not) and only 1/4 had it and most of those it wasn't active. Noed is too weak imo but that's just my hot take

  • DH id want worked on yo have more consistency. It just does work properly half the time. I'll use DH and Getechausted but still get hit in the timeframe I shouldn't but other times it works.

  • With the ptb id lower freddy a lot tbh

If they removed her traps being disabled during end game it would be much better tbh.

    Also they could:

-Quicken pick while she is sheathed because she is literally slower then nurse last I checked

They should at least give her something to use in egc since she just becomes an m1 killer at that point

  • It's been tested in tournaments (with and without coms) that survivors stomp on top killer players consistently, data shows the game is survivor sided, top players on both sides admit the game is survivor sided, and if we are also including scoring (not just kills or escapes) the game is survivor sided since the killers scoring is directly impacted by survivors actions (such as multiple hooks demands survivors save each othet) while the killers actions have much less impact on survivor scores. Solo queue has less consistency because lack of consistent good players bit if you have the best play together without coms they will win against the best killer. Swf will also stomp on killer if they are good enough players

  • It should deactivate after hooking or have a short period after hooking but I'd also want to give it the surprise exposed effect of noed

  • Starstruck for sure.

The others can be good but can still not deliver. Starstruck almost always guarantees a hook, you down idiot survivors, and it's the only one with a lasting effect outside of carrying.

  • I played one game with him and did terrible. Defonetly did worse than I've done with any killer on my first game. I dont see myself ever using him. I'm a console player as well lol

  • I don't think the first one is but the second one might be. One demo just came out

  • Btw, if you havent played the demos and can you should totally do it

I define a win as a game where all 4 survivors DC, die or are sacrificed.

I define a loss a game where someone escapes. It can be 3 dcs into hatch with 5 gens up or someone could cheat. If I don't achieve my only objective then it's a L in my book.

That's fine but the game does not define it that way. In reality we have to submit to what the game defined as a win. I can't play chess with someone and say because I took their queen I won because that is contrary to the established win requirements of the game. The same is for this.

Don't spread misinformation that 4ks are wins when the game is not designed that way.

I personally wish 4ks were wins but the game just doesn't reward you for it in any way (BP and pips) so we have to accept that 4ks are not wins by the games standards

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

Resident Evil 8 drops on May 7th. The RE Chapter isn't due until mid June.

So your points about not spoiling the game before it even comes out isn't very valid.

The chapter release would be before many people play it. A month difference is not that long between games. I just don't see capc9m taking an unnecessary risk of spoiling their game (along with the other reasons) when they have lots of other content to use.

Also, capcom would have had to be in contact with bhvr for some time on this chapter and I just don't see them wanting to take any chances sharing details outside of their company

  • 1. Even though the devs are reluctant to outright say what is considered a won or loss, how the game is deigned has pipping be a won or loss since the game incentives (although not much) to go up in ranks. -1 is a Loss, 0 pip is a loss ( you could potentially say tie), +1 or +2 is a win regardless of kills/hooks/escapes for either side. I think 4ks should be designed as one way of winning but how the game works it is not if you do it too early.

    2. Keys should.not count against you as killer

  • This isn't to say re8 content will never get in but for now I just dont see it happening

  • @IWasLeft2Die said:

Now they haven't outright said RE8 killer won't be in this chapter but here are a variety of reasons why it won't happen

    1. A killer from re8 would have abilities that spoil RE8 somewhat. Capcom would not want to risk spoiling their game before their game is even played by many people. Spoiling a game does put you at greater risk of less game sales. Capcom would not want to take any risks with their new release and I just don't think Capcom would share secret details of their game with another company prior to release

    2. Because RE8 hasn't released yet which means Capcom has had some time to make adjustments to the villans while bhvr has been working on their content for the chapter for some time now. I just don't see capcom sharing info on their villains with another company when they could still make major changes to the villains. Capcom would want to keep as much flexibility available to them until last minute while lending it out to bhvr would prevent them.

    3. Much bigger risk to use re8 content than Classics. The newer games are a lot more fixed amongst fans while games like re2 are very much loved by old and new fans. It would be a safer choice to pick characters from the most popular games than from a game that has yet to release which is hopefully good but it may not be.

Some big reasons why she won't be in

  • She won't be the killer (at least for this release if they revisit re). A lot of people have been saying they want her in but it just won't happen for now. I'll make a thread on this since either keeps coming up

  • For real though...

Make them 1 hook. Right now they are garbage. They don't need to be game winning by any means like old moris but moris actually are worse to use (get less BP, less contributions to Pip, waste more time where survivors get stuff done while you do it, and don't get the hook counted) than just doing hooks. They need some sort of benefit beyond they look neat but you lose in every other way

  • Admittedly I've purposefully farmed teammates that are being total tools before they are hooked

  • Id love to do one as well. I'm someone who played in the beginning and took a couple years off and got back in not too long ago

  • The Chicago typewriter

For real though, I'd say make fireworks always in bloodweb with addons available

  • -give her something useful for egc since her trap is no longer useful and her crouch isn't either.

-her dash attack has a slow windup and should be faster imo

-kinda with the first point, but give her an extra ability more for chases (something like a ground trap)

-give her some info on what traps will do for each so it's not totally rng for her

Bro, if he snuck up on you with tinkerer when you were healing a survivor in the killer shack. You would expect to hear a terror radius because he is teir 3 you cant blame that on me for "healing out of place" or being a "potato"

Even if you don't hear him, you should be looking around the entire time for killers. This is a fundamental part of playing survivor. Either you and/or your team neglected this basic thing survivors should all do

  • @TTV_WAWAbyWibWib said:

I can reliably beat most teams with every killer and I wouldn't mind playing something low tier like wraith, legion or trickster into a team like Oracle or Agony. It's harder, obviously but killer is very strong and this game isn't as survivor sided as people think it is. You can't race the survivors but you CAN achieve critical mass and stop them dead and every killer can do it, not just nurse or spirit.

My wraith or clown is better than some of if not all of the nurses I saw in tournament games so far btw, but I didn't watch many of them so shrugs

I guess you must be the best player in the entire game. We are not worthy

Honestly though all of the top killer mains have agreed that the best survivors (even without coms) are unstoppable. I just don't believe you. The top survivors will always beat the top killers. It's been shown time and time again.

  • His addons being good are like the backbone of his character. If you drastically change them he is no longer myers. Don't nerf an already weaker killer

I think I am the only player who can seriously attempt to play clown, wraith or trapper in a high tournament and win. Maaaybe someone like Ryuga or otz. I think if we were robots we would absolutely demolish those tournaments and super win btw, and the reason it's hard isn't the killer's fault, it's the players. You have to work 10 times as hard, it's not equal effort to reward BUT killer is ultimately competitive or stronger imho.

I strongly disagree. Even otz and other competitive players agree survivors are favored overall and some killers are not tournament viable against teams (especially teams with coms)

so you're telling me is should still work with a camping crouched pig/ ghostface... okay

Honestly I'm fine with stealth killers benefiting since they are overall the weakest type of killer even before the BT buff. This just takes away just about the only thing they were better at than other killers

Id bet money that it won't be Rev 1 ship, Rev 2 jail, and re5 temple. The rest are much more likely

Yeap lol. He's almost as oppressive as nurse and spirit. 1 of 3 killers that can hit you. And be right back on you in 5 seconds. Sometimes before you can even make it to a tile of any kind.

Yeah playing against him can be really rough. I don't see him a ton unfortunately.
